Sometimes I think it would be really cool to study and get into aeronautics as a career. I am so fascinated by planes and the aviation industry
But. It always comes back to war, doesn't it?
Every airplane manufacturer seems to also make war machines, weapons, missiles... I don't want any part of that
I just wanna help make the cool things fly

Do you like to use the Mushroom Cloud as a fun Barbieheimer meme? If you do, it's fine so long as you know what the cloud caused and what it symbolizes. If you don't know the circumstances of the mushroom cloud, please search ''Hiroshima Nagasaki atomic bomb people (with your safe search off)' on Google Images. *The images are very disturbing. Please DO NOT try it if you are sensitive to extremely disturbing images.
I'm Japanese. In Japan, unfortunately, many people have never seen the old pictures of the real effects of the mushroom cloud. We learn about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (both are cities in Japan) in primary school or junior high, when we are about 10-14 years old. Many adults think it's too risky to show children the pictures because it shows human bodies, which look like human charcoal. Living people got severe burns on their faces, their backs, and their whole bodies looked like melting wax (additionally, most of the people in the pictures are citizens, not soldiers. There are many kids, babies, and old people, of course.) Even though it happened in our land, many people (including me, I'm ashamed to say though) don't feel it was an actual event because it seems very unreal and it happened almost 80 years ago. Fortunately, I had a chance to learn about the atomic bombing and see several pictures of it. Now I know what happened in 1945. I think some people here/outside of Japan realize it as well.
I don't blame people born outside of Japan who have never known/learned about the effects of the atomic bombing. I want to ask you to learn and understand what happened under that iconic mushroom cloud before you make a meme with it. If you think 'So what?' after that, I will have nothing more to say to you.
I've not seen Barbie or Oppenheimer because they are not released here yet. But I feel they are both very interesting. I'm looking forward to watching them. I wish I could have fun watching them without any distractions before going to the theatres.
Don't get me wrong. I know that during World War II the Japanese government did tons of terrible things to people outside and inside of Japan. I just want people to know that atomic bombing is a very serious issue, and using the images of the mushroom cloud as a meme/design is like using a symbol of the Nazi/KKK as a fun meme. It's not fun. Atomic bombing should never happen anywhere in the world.

I posted a thread about this on bluesky but something i always dislike about Erda discussion is when people blame her for how the Primarchs turned out.
Mainly characters like Angron, bc it seems like the conclusion people come to is "Angron should just direct all his ire towards Erda instead of the Emperor". Like they forget that Angron hates Emps because he recognizes him as no different from the Overseers of Nuceria. Even if i believe that Angron would hate Erda, he would not hate the Emperor any less.

as a guy who is soso normal about time loops, i have to wonder if the dream smp’s loop had constants. set points in time that would happen no matter what. and i don’t even mean the big events, like lmanberg’s destruction or the disc conflict. i mean the smaller, less narratively impactful things that just hammer home the humanity of it all.
foolish will always lose his mind over a chandelier. the bank will never be finished in time before the loop begins anew. love will always be found. an among us bunker will always be built. michael will always be adopted. the church of prime will always be founded. wilbur will always fuck a fish. love will always be found. niki will always open a bakery. michael will always host a radio show. you </3 little penis will always appear in the sky, in one way or another. love will always be found.

Way to miss the whole point

Okay this is so dumb. Even Nolan expressed that his film was meant to be about the unintended consequences of scientific discoveries. This movie about a bomb that utterly reshaped the earth (for the worse in my opinion), is still a beautiful depiction of understanding and loving physics, but obviously has to veer on the cautionary side. The equivalent of this would expecting a movie about a murderous bioweapon to somehow inspire students to take up biology.
That's not why ANYONE should love their disciplines, but I guess the two in house geniuses of Twitter disagree.

So, like, potions require a witch, wizard, goblin, house-elf, whatever-- a magical person to actually create a viable potion. Even if a muggle got their hands on a recipe and the ingredients and followed each step, they would just end up with gross soup. Not a potion. Because they don't have magic hands or whatever.
And that just makes me to create a muggle chemist oc to ship Snape with, and they would be so frustrated that they can't reproduce the same results Snape gets when he throws random ass shit into a cauldron-- not because of like magic envy, but because it's slapping the scientific method in the face. And they would just be constantly asking Snape to do simple chemistry experiments to see how his "magic" will affect it. Like combining bleach with ammonia. It's supposed to create mustard gas. Except when Snape pours bleach and ammonia in his cauldron it becomes a potion that, when you drink it, flips your organs upside down.
And then our little chemist oc will be like, "Okay, you know what, let's see you split an atom with your 'magic hands.'"
And, anyway, that's how Snape destroys the concept of time.

And to think, Joe Biden, all you had to do was spend $175.9 billion that America doesn't have to arm a bunch of ungrateful, election-cancelling fascists then tell them to go ahead and launch American missiles at targets inside of Russia...
Tumblr media
Joe Biden is not just the WORST but the most dangerous man to ever pollute the office of President.

hey! i'm too anxious to come off anon at the moment, sorry, but i'm also a college student who tries to tackle ambitious projects, and an aspiring MSE. (and an ex IB diploma sufferer lmao). i'd love to talk about muon-catalyzed fusion-- would you like to connect on discord or message here sometime? totally cool if not tho :-)
I'm rarely on tumblr anymore, so dm me, i'll share my discord (i don't really want to share it as publicly as a tumblr post) and i'd love to discuss muon catalyzed fusion. I don't remember all of the things i've said here but if i talked about my attempt to make what's essentially a dusty plasma fission-fragment generator that shoots relativistic particles at a graphite target in order to generate pions (and also thus muons) that are slowed down through lead shielding and guided into ammonia gas that is, at high frequency, given a spark and then pulsed with a powerful magnetic field such that it undergoes enough z-pinch powerful enough that with the help of the muons there's (hopefully) an appreciable amount of fusion, that project has been put on hold while i work on a few bio projects, earn money, work out the specific engineering details since i committed to this after just working out the physics, and try to work on self improvement. (not that i wouldn't love to talk about it, but just so you know i don't have a functioning fission-fragment engine and unless i suddenly gain $3580, i probably won't be able to work on it for a few months)

You're Wrong About was one of my gateway podcasts and is still one of my comfort podcasts - about as comforting as it gets in the Dismantling Moral Panics genre, with its astounding empathy and grounded humanity. every now and then i'll dig up some older eps i've heard twice before because i specifically need michael hobbes to tell me about fucked up shit. HOWEVER i have not heard every episode - sometimes a topic just sounds much too heavy at the moment. a lot of the time because of a generational/cultural difference - many of these names and events don't ring a single bell for me.
and yet. pretty much every time i'm like, alright, let's hear what this is about then. i am not disappointed. in fact there will likely be a delightful morsel in there that enriches my life and soul and makes me feel like the world is full of beautiful people.
all this to say i finally listened to the tipper gore VS heavy metal episodes, which is about one of the moral panics around teenagers listening to Inappropriate Music, and some hearings about putting warning labels on albums. one of the musicians invited to the hearing was john denver (i know his music!!!! i listen to it on road trips with my mom!!!) because they thought a sweet mellow country musician would SURELY be against the icky terrible heavy metal music.
BUT INSTEAD WE GOT
youtube
i am so glad to have learned about this

more people should be in fandoms that people consider “weird” or “cringe” bc so what? it’s fun to make headcanons, fanfics, and fanart and if you’re not hurting anyone or yourself and having fun then that’s awesome. society has a wide range of weird and cringe and it’s mostly people just expressing themselves and having fun
