Gonna ramble about gaming capture software for a moment

So back when I started seriously playing RPGs, back in 2013, I used FRAPS to capture everything. I loved it. I loved that you could have separate folders for videos and screenshots. It was easy to use and I had no issues

Until I had to upgrade to Window 10 for work. Suddenly, FRAPS didn't work anymore and I was very sad. Switched to bandicam and had no issues. (Well, it didn't have some features I really liked in FRAPS, but nobody's perfect)

Until I got a new computer last year. Then suddenly, when I pressed the hotkey to record video or screenshots, it would freeze the game for a few seconds. Which, not great for recording

But I dealt with it. However, this past week, the freezing was up to 10 seconds and crashed my game more than once. I couldn't find a good answer about what was happening, so I assumed it was my computer

Not proud to admit that I panicked a bit. After all, VG is coming out at the end of the month and I don't want any issues recording or taking screenshots. I tried every troubleshooting guide I could find and I just didn't have any luck

I seriously started looking for a new computer (again, I was panicking) but decided instead to simply do a search for video capture software 2024

And lo and behold, FRAPS was on that list. Apparently it works with Windows 11, which I have. So I installed it and checked out

It works! There's no freezing, not stuttering, just beautiful screenshots and video. I am now officially ready for VG!

It’s interesting to see people’s threshold for what they consider realistic and uncanny valley because for me it will always just look stylized

oh also my second experience using shrooms was absolutely incredible (no one asked). if anyone sober had witnessed my antics (ex crawling on the floor in a way that felt like my body was melting, telling my mirror self very important secrets about the world, dancing around like a massive puppet being pulled around by some higher being) it probably would have looked so horrifying, but to me it was magical :))

#the walls were also moving. i could see rainbows everywhere. i SWORE i could see trails in the air from everything moving #we put bowie on at one point and i thought he was trying to talk to me. like man oh man i'd never heard bowie like that before #everything was like 4k ultra high def and also slowed down to the point where i could see every minute detail in everything #also when i started to come down all my senses were heightened to an extreme level. like wow i could smell and feel everything!!!

Is there some kind of community or volunteer program I could join to learn how to make designs and modifications for prosthetics? I’m more of an artist than an engineer, but I’ve always been kinda obsessed with the sculptural properties of prosthetics. Obviously when designing one, though, function and comfort come first, so if I ever got into it, I would want to make sure I’m making things people can actually use (not to mention afford).

#i’ve kinda avoided asking this since i was never sure if it’s okay to be so interested in this when I’m not a prosthetics user myself #but i guess it can’t hurt to ask!#prosthetics are already so cool and there’s a lot of smarter people than me working in that field #but i just think about how much prosthetic art/sculpture/fashion doesn't readily exist on the market #just because there's supposedly 'not enough interest/demand' for it?#and it's so frustrating because like-#can you imagine if there was some ultra-famous red carpet actress with a prosthetic arm and leg?#like what would it be like to have teams of prosthetic design experts regularly collaborating with a hollywood wardrobe team?#It’s a big deal for celebrities to have a new outfit at every event for whatever reason #but would that mean they could make a new set of prosthetics to go with the outfit for every big event?#what about entire outfits where the prosthetics are the statement pieces?#High fashion is always trying to ‘re-interpret the human form’ but prosthetic users are r i g h t t h e r e #I know i’m far from the only person who’s ever imagined this kind of thing but #everyone around me always seems to think imaginative prosthetic designs are just inevitably 'irrelevant'#and i just feel like no one in my circle has any interest in appreciating how #mind-numbingly cool they are and how much potential they hold for self expression #Maybe i just want to be around other people who get excited about prosthetics and other mobility aids #but i would also really love to be a part of making more!#Like obviously the cripplepunk community doesn’t need my help lmaoo literally no one needs m y help I know nothing about anything #I just think it’s cool and would love getting to assist other people in making their ideas for their own bodies happen!#tag rambles #prosthetics #mobility aids #not vent
