I keep thinking of how I want to taxonomize Siffrin and Loop bc it feels significant to me that Loop and Siffrin both have inherently diverged from the same Traveler Mold they came from. But because I am like a 7 year old I keep sagely nodding to myself going "ah yes... just like mega mewtwo"

#do u understand me. do u understand my vision #they're both siffrins they are just two pathways of how the same one guy develops through their experiences in timeloops #that are the same in basic structure but different in how they affected them #so like siffrin and loop are distinct people. but they're also just branches of preloops siffrin. much like mega mewtwo x and y are distinc #but they are also mewtwo #<-(said like this is somehow profound and not stupid)#liek do you guys get me... i think loop and siffrin are very much in sync #to the point where as seen in canon it's pretty easy for loop to divine what siffrin's thinking down to the phrasing #it's really striking how much loop talks and siffrin fullass does not reply but loop keeps on rollin just fine #but fundamentally they don't think the exact same way when it comes to bigger things #like how loop never fully accepts the idea of talking to the king as something reasonable to do #or how act 4 siffrin is in their own damn world while loop is left going. fionna and cake drawings before and after watching the episodes so far. it’s nostalgic and somehow cathartic and poignant and relatable and—it just started

#i’m part of the demographic where i was a kid when adventure time started and now watching fionna and cake as an adult makes me emotional #because did they keep us in mind when writing fionna and her attitude towards life #the dissatisfaction #the hoping for something more #something more magical than this dreary life filled with working to live and living to work #it’s so reflective of how life feels for me and perhaps many of us #and also Simon’s episode was so sad but so well thought out #exploring his feelings after the events of the adventure time finale is something I’m glad we get to see #there were already so many layers to his character in AT but now it feels like we get to dive deeper #I also felt emotional hearing Rebecca Sugar singing and writing a song that encapsulates his feelings so well #😭 it’s been awhile seeing her work exist alongside these characters #and all of these emotions get stronger because I remember AT being the one to inspire me to be a storyboard artist #when I was younger I used to follow many of the board artists here in tumblr and would get so inspired by them #to create simple but powerful boards that can capture the feelings of characters so well #Rebecca Sugar’s songs for the AT characters inspired me so much too #I’m sorry this is long I’m just feeling so many things experiencing all of this again as an adult #my art #fanart #adventure time #fionna and cake #fionna the human #cake the cat #simon petrikov

As someone who loves trans Kim as a headcanon, it bothers me a little when people use this as basis for that reading.

I think that when discussing Kim's sexuality or his gender the intersection between them and his race is crucial. Deciding to ignoring how this exchange is about having a blatantly Seolite name is not as exciting a choice as many people think it is.

Him resenting his heritage, which his body and name betray, as a direct link to the racist violence he experiences, the death of his parents during the Revolution and what hopes they put in him when they named him, doomed to never know and to always potentially disappoint just by being who he is (a gay man, a tool for Moralintern policy, a vacholière) and that very name being also a presentation card that immediately generates expectations in the white people around him...

All the things that could be different: If I had been born in Seol, would I still be gay? How would my life be? With a different name, here, perhaps? And my parents, would they have loved me? Would I have failed them? Would I have joined the RCM? Could the commune have succeeded?

Harry is haunted by all the expectations carried by his name, he wants "one he hasn't ruined yet". This is Kim saying, yes, my name also haunts me, but it's mine like my mistakes are mine; the only way not to drive yourself insane is simply accept that you can't imagine a life you haven't lived.

one thing that's missing from these convos about amc not submitting assad zaman for a golden globes nom that makes it 10x more malicious on amc's part is that a nomination isn't just like oh... ~simple appreciation for an actor's performance. even if there's no win, it results in a profile boost for these actors & them being able to command a higher salary when it comes to future projects. it's something that gets notice on their CV. these studios and networks love being able to market their shit with things like "starring golden globe nominee john doe" or "emmy winner jane doe." the emmys are more prestigious than the golden globes which are more prestigious than the critics choice awards (the one they submitted him for with two other actors lol). actors get nominated and have the opportunity to get attention from social media posts, article mentions, attending the red carpet, having their name announced and a little clip of their acting shown. that's not nothing! attention from possible new fans, publications, execs, peers, producers, directors, fashion houses & other industries which could lead to $$$ and sponsorships. I won't make any presumptions about the cast's finances but I do know amc is probably not paying them their worth, least of all the bangladeshi muslim who barely had any major roles in tv/film prior to the show.

there are fees and costs associated with submitting for awards consideration and FYC ads. the network basically took a look at assad's brown skin and name and said they don't think he's worth the money over the white actor who had less screentime and narrative importance (to the season ig) which is absolutely crazy lmao. it shouldn't be controversial to say that and you can't not discuss this without bringing up sam's name. this has nothing to do with whether he "deserved" to be submitted (and even if I said he doesn't deserve it over assad who's gonna beat my ass?). this white man isn't being persecuted by conversations about blatant racism. but I'd expect nothing less from this fanbase x.

Birch got a few tweaks and I added the mark of Primus to one of his pauldrons. Koros bears the mark of Mortilus and at times wears a mask.
