I just read your TF2 bot post and I’m fascinated. It has left me with a few questions though. Why/how were bots a problem for so long? What was the main incentive for botting (is it botting or boting??) Was it just to be an asshole? What’s your favorite baked good? Have a lovely day and don’t worry about answering my questions if you’re not in the mood :]

The bots were a problem for so long because Valve just didn't care, sorry to say. They just let it happen. I'm not sure when they started coming in in force, maybe after the Jungle Inferno update like six years ago? But they just kept pouring in and Valve just ignored it. It's really shameful how bad they let it get, honestly. They just kept putting out community updates like nothing was wrong.

Eventually after a lot of community pressure a year ago (#savetf2) they tweeted saying they were aware of the problem and then nothing happened. Then there was ANOTHER community movement this June (#fixtf2), and THEN at the end of June they ACTUALLY did something, which is why everyone was so shocked and skeptical at the time. Like the bots got so bad, it's hard to get across just how bad it got if you weren't playing at the time. It was bad. To suddenly go from that to totally bot-free was unbelievable. Frankly I'm still shocked they're gone! No one knows why Valve's acting now or how they're doing it (personally, I think they must have been working on these anti-bot measures for a while... maybe even since their initial tweet, but no one knows), but I hope they keep it up. I can finally teach people how to play in peace!

As for why they'd do this, yeah, it's just to be jerks. They just want to make people miserable. They have websites on Neocities you can find under the tf2 tag (I was looking through it for sites to link to my tf2 site) and they state themselves that they just like making people mad. I don't think they actually hate TF2 so much as they love the power rush from destroying something so famous that so many people love. Kind of a power-trip/control thing, with a dose of being desperate for attention. A lot of the more notorious bot hosters had twitters or youtube accounts where they invited people to rage at them uselessly, they loved it. They've also formed communities around botting and trolling people, so they have kind of a social investment in it (although they were quick to turn on each other when they suspected someone was a mole). Some of them sell their bot software or "bot immunity" for money but I think that was just pocket change, I don't think that was a real motivator.

After having free reign for so long, they reacted violently to the community movement in June. They were positive that nothing would happen to them, so they kept doing more and more outrageous things to prove it. They DDoS'd and DMCA'd the site for the petition multiple times, they doxxed and swatted one of the main bot fighters, they impersonated figureheads and posted illegal links to things, like they were really stepping over the line and gloating about it. They were extremely confident and to be fair, who could blame them? Valve's negligence let them get away with it for years. To suddenly have that power taken away from them without warning made them absolutely furious. They're still seething about it right now and plotting ways to get back in, but they haven't found one yet. It's a matter of pride for them at this point I think, that and a childish tantrum about not being able to ruin other people's fun anymore. Them targeting a baby game version of TF2 (TC2) also points to it being a power trip. If they can't ruin TF2 anymore then by god they've got to ruin SOMEthing!

Even now I'm not sure Valve can hold the line and I keep checking TF2 Casual every now and then to look for bots, haha. It's just hard to believe! I greatly enjoy hearing about bot hosters raging about it and suffering though, they deserve nothing less. Die mad about it!!!

In terms of baked goods though I like all kinds, although right now I'm thinking about brownies so I'll say that. |D

“Well, let’s get out of here as soon as possible, then.” Tommy says, leaning forward, putting his elbows on the table, bringing Buck’s attention to those muscular arms, his gaze heated and boring into Buck, and Buck swears he can feel it in his stomach. “But open your gift first.” “I’d rather open you up, but okay.” Buck mumbles, and Tommy snickers under his nose, takes a sip of his beer. “Behave, honey, we’re in public.” He whispers, and Buck kind of wants to take it as a challenge, flirt and tease as much as he can and rile Tommy up until he all but drags Buck to the bathroom – well, it’s more likely it’d be Buck doing the dragging, Tommy can be infuriatingly composed when he wants to. “Wow,” Buck says as he opens the envelope and pulls out the gift. “Lakers tickets, no way.” He feels his eyebrows go high up on his forehead as he looks up at Tommy, who seems amused and smug and so delighted. “Very funny.” He adds, trying to go for deadpan, but not able to hide an amused smile as well.

Tom is sat on a chair on stage as he looks out to the crowd of eager fans, fans eager for answers about a particular clip that has been blazing about online. He breaks into a laugh when he hears the question regarding his lovely costar. He rubs the sides of face and chuckles into the mic, "next question please."

The crowd laughs.

Tom rubs his face and looks away as he clutches his torso. He releases a sigh then turns back to the guy who asked the question, "see... maybe I could answer that question easier if the person that question is about was here."

The crowd cheers.

Tom laughs, pulling his mic away, "I dunno, it's- it's quite awkward to... talk about your coworkers in certain ways, cause, you know, you don't want to put words in their mouth but--" he takes a moment before responding, "I would like to think," he places a hand on his chest, "that as much I as I enjoyed that kiss-"

Intense screaming.

"-she also did," he grits his teeth as he makes an apprehensive look. He breaks into a chuckle at how loud the shouts become.

Someone in the crowd screams out your ship name with Aegon.

"That being said, I do think it's a shame our kissing scene was cut out of the show-"

MEGA intense screaming.

Tom pulls his mic away and laughs through it. His jaw drops at the scream of a particularly enthusiastic fan. He points to that fan's general direction and chuckles as he says, "you get it."

"Can I just say," the fan who had asked Tom about the kissing scene in the first place speaks up. Tom looks at him as he explains that you were here at this convention two days ago and he got to ask you the same questions and-- "she said that she thought it was an integral piece of character development--"

Tom makes a face and nods.

"--and that because they cut it out, you should definitely make up for it with more kissing scenes."

The crowd loses their mind as Tom throws his head back then laughs into his hands. His face begins to turn a bright shade of red as he grins from ear to ear and his shoulders shake.

The fan holding the mic looks out to the crowd, "you can quote me on that, I'm sure there are clips online as evidence."

Tom wipes his face as he bites his lower lip.

He turns back to Tom, "do you have a response for her and everyone that ships your characters together?"

Tom blows a raspberry as he brings the mic to his mouth. With his cheeks still pink and his fingers ripping at his collar, he responds, "I'd love to kiss her."

Total and complete chaos amongst the people.

"FOR PLOT REASONS!" Tom calls out with an open mouthed smile. He shakes a hand out to the crowd as they bust their lungs with the intensity of their shouts.

He makes a cheeky expression, muttering lowly, "or maybe not--" he pulls his head back as he shakes it.

"No, but truly, I am disappointed they didn't keep it," Tom mutters rather seriously, "I totally agree that our characters kissing is 100% vital character development."

I've been pondering this one for a while (considering you sent this last month)

1. I think maybe this one: I just like looking at it and it's coloured

2. Difficult to say. I feel very grateful for every drawing, doodle, silly sketch I've made that got any attention at all. I never expected to get much attention for my drawings so man did I kinda panic at the start (still do at times haha). So I cant say there's a piece that I wished got more attention. I'm very much touched that they got attention at all.

3. Oh boy....I got to know so many good artists and writers it's hard to say. Replica by @/kathaynesart got me into posting art and making comics, everyone knows Cass apocalypse of course, I fell in love with @/intotheelliwoods 2 arms left because of how soft it was. (Both art and story). Then you've got those feral tots by @/phykoha and @/kittynomore I adore. @/thegunnsara oh boy...masterpieces all of them. My go to for Donnie is @/andva-ri who might have secretly drawn for the series because they can fool me with how on point it is. @/pinetreevillain has adorable comics and then there's so many more! I want to tag all the friends I've made who can write and draw so well and are lovely people on top of that. Some don't post here but they share it on discord with me sometimes which is awesome.

Anyhow I can't just choose 3....I've tried but failed and I don't care because there are so many talented people on this site!

It had been a week since the last lot of killings.

And you were no closer to catching the killer than you were at the beginning. It was now starting to take its toll on you.

The sleepless nights due to your mind not being able to shut off or the nightmares of the cases that plagued you. You sat up for hours going over every photo, every detail, playing the killers messages again and again.

The messages had started to come here and there, from him, taunting you.

‘Come on detective Y/L/N, you can do better then this’

‘I expected so much better from you my little angel’

‘Only a handful left to go…’

It made your blood boil how he mocked you, how he somehow had your personal number and yet he couldn’t be traced.

The press were having a field day with this, it was front page news and everyone was talking about it. People were too frightened to go out after dark or walk alone because they were terrified that the ‘10 commandments killer’ would find them and use them in his next masterpiece.

“Masterpiece….thats pretty much how he views it….he’s the artist and those people the art….its sick but he’s definitely a perfectionist”

You rested your head into your hands, not ready to face the day but you knew you had no choice.

Noah had been by your side near enough the entire time, helping you go over the case, finding new leads, dealing with people when you didn’t have the energy. Noah had even been round your apartment a few times with food just to make sure you’re eating, all the while saying that ‘if anyone could crack this case then it would be you’

He was definitely becoming a comfort to you, helping take the pressure off. You had learnt a lot about him as well, about how he originally dreamed of being in a band and that he played the guitar, how he detests subway (you learnt that when you suggested it for lunch and it was very quickly shut down) how he’s an animal lover and plays video games in his spare time.

You couldn’t help but want to know more about him and you found his laugh completely infectious. But you knew you couldn’t allow yourself to be distracted by him, it wouldn’t help the case at all.

“Back to it girl….no more day dreaming”

You walked over to your team of officers and they all looked up ready for your instructions, you noticed Noah wasn’t present so assumed he was doing another job so you decided to carry on without him.

“Right, I know it’s been tough and we haven’t had a new lead, however I now believe it’s time to think outside the box.”

“Detective?” One of the officers had a confused look on his face.

“I’ve been thinking that we need to widen our search, who’s to say that the killings started in LA? For all we know, this guy could have moved around, killed before but has never been caught. I know it will take time but I need you all to be cross referencing all the recent and older cold cases from the last year or so, further back if necessary but we need to rule out that he’s not killed before.”

“But that could take weeks!”

You looked over at Eddie Blake, an officer about your age or slightly older, he’d been making it known to you all week that he wasn’t happy with all of your decisions, he’d make a comment here or there or simply contradict you in from of the other officers. It was getting very tiresome.

“Yes officer Blake, that’s why I’m asking now”

He didn’t look happy.

“Well wouldn’t our time be better spent trying to solve this case instead of wasting time looking around other states when you have no reason or lead other than a hunch?”

“You’ll do what I ask you to do, understood?” You couldn’t help but snap at Eddie, his constant attitude was grating on you.

You took in a deep breath and looked up to see your boss, sergeant Matthews standing in the doorway, he nodded his head to your office and you knew you were in for a stern word.

“I’m sorry, look I know this has been hard but I really do think we need to rule out all possibilities. So everyone please get to it, it will be tedious but it could pay off in the long run. As you were”

You walked off to your office where Matthews was waiting.

“I’m sorry sir, I shouldn’t have snapped at officer Blake like that”

“No you shouldn’t however I’m more concerned about you Y/L/N. No offence but you look like shit”

You let out a giggle at his bluntness.

“Thanks”

“I just mean that you look like you need a break, maybe this case is too much for you. I can have you signed off for a bit and let detective Davis take over for a whi…”

“NO!….I mean, no thank you sir, I’m perfectly fine, just need to lay off the coffee I imagine”

Sergeant Matthews gave you a look that clearly said he didn’t believe your words.

“Running yourself into the ground isn’t going to help anyone, certainly not the victims or their families. And a case like this, no one would judge you if it was becoming too much”

You sighed as you looked around the room.

“Sir I don’t deny that I could definitely use some more sleep but I promise, I’m fine to carry on, I need to carry on! I feel we are so close to a proper lead.”

“Alright. I’ll keep you on for now detective Y/L/N but one more incident and I’ll take you off the case”

With that sergeant Matthews left your office, you sat down at your desk and put your head into your hands, tears brimming in your eyes but you refused to let them fall.

Knock, knock

You looked up to see Noah stood there looking concerned.

“Are you ok?”

You nodded “yeah….no, not really. Sergeant Matthews thinks that I might need a break from the case…he wanted to remove me from it”

Noah came and sat next to you.

“Well then he’s stupid, no one would ever have connected half the leads together that you have, you’re the person thats actually found any answers and has the biggest chance of catching the sick fuck who’s doing this?”

You smiled at Noah, he always knew what to say to make you feel better.

“Thanks Noah, I’m sure that…”

“Don’t even try and say that someone else could be as good, because it’s simply not true, you’re the smartest person I’ve ever known…and the most beautiful”

You felt your cheeks go warm at Noah’s compliment, you stared into his brown eyes and smiled slightly.

“And you’re the biggest charmer I’ve ever known”

“It’s a gift”

You giggled and turned away to pick up some files, I need some of these copied, fancy a walk down the hall?”

Noah smiled and stood up “And they say this job isn’t exciting”

You both walked in a comfortable silence out of your office, you had definitely become more comfortable around Noah, you’d be lying if you said you wasn’t attracted to him, he was gorgeous, a blind man could see that, and the odd dream of him was still happening here and there. However you still refused to act on anything, you needed to stay focused.

As you went to turn a corner you suddenly heard Eddie Blake talking to someone.

“All I’m saying is that clearly detective Y/L/N isn’t up for the job, have you seen her recently? She looks like she’s not slept in weeks and isn’t making the right decisions. If I had her position, I’d be doing things so differently, maybe then we’d actually be getting somewhere in this case”

His voice got lower and lower to signify he was walking away with whoever he was talking to, the knot in stomach was very present and the anger was rising in your chest.

“Who the hell does he think he is? I’m going to go talk to him about respecting his superiors”

You grabbed onto Noah’s arm.

“No Noah it’s ok, let him go, he’s just jealous and mouthing off, he’s wanted my job for a while now and clearly doesn’t like how a woman got the position over him”

“Well maybe if he could actually put two brain cells together then he’d get the job”

Later that evening, after a fairly uneventful day, you found yourself sitting with Noah in your apartment, food long been eaten and you had a drink in your hands, a scene that felt very familiar but this time, you were definitely more relaxed.

“So tell me more about you Noah, what’s something that not many people know about?”

Noah laughed slightly.

“Well I doubt many at the office would know but I’m a pretty big anime fan”

Noah rested his arm across the back of the sofa and leaned back more while drinking from his own wine glass.

“Fancy giving it a go? It’s about a high school student who is able to kill anyone in the world with a notebook called the death note which belongs to a shinigami, a god of death. However Light only kills criminals as he believes they truly deserve it, all the while he is being hunted down by L the detective who’s incredibly intelligent. It’s a really good show”

You nodded.

“It does sound interesting, so Light is a bad guy then?”

“Well that’s the grey area, is he truly bad if he’s getting rid of the criminals or is he the hero?”

You shook your head and finished your second glass of wine.

“No one has the right to play god”

“Well how about I put it on and you can decide for yourself”

You smiled and refilled your glass.

“Sure, why not”

Noah found death note and got the first episode up, it certainly peaked your interest and had you making the odd comment here or there.

You felt yourself becoming even more relaxed as you watched the tv, your wine long forgotten about on the table and eventually you didn’t realise it, but you nodded off on Noah’s shoulder, the lack of sleep finally catching up to you.

The rules are simple: you would take turns with a one-minute timeframe to shower the other with kisses and leave lipstick marks behind. The one who leaves the most marks by the end of the game would win.

when it’s your turn, Rook’s eyes are fixed on you, observing your every move, expression, and gesture

once the timer starts, he eagerly awaits your first kiss, his heart pounding with anticipation

this man savours every ounce of affection you show him and keeps little moments of your love tucked away at the back of his mind

just him, eyes blissfully closed, relishing the sensation of your lips pecking all over

though he enjoys being the hunter and the observer, he finds himself revelling in being the object of your attention and affection.

when it’s his turn, there’s a mischievous smile adorned his face

he would just stand still for a second, staring at you as you wait for his affection

when you're confused and realise he’s not moving, then he kisses you on the lips and he smiles into it

he kisses you with a grace that seems almost supernatural, planting kisses on your cheeks, forehead, and neck, using enough pressure so that each one leaves behind a trace of his vibrant lipstick

Rook's kisses bear an intensity similar to a hunter marking their prey, his passion manifesting in each touch.

he kisses your face with an artist's precision, treating it as a blank canvas ready to be adorned with his affectionate brushstrokes

in the end it’s just the two of you, breathless and flushed with excitement as you stare at each other’s handiwork in the mirror

without a doubt he wins, he’s always ready to shower you in affection, and leaving a trace of his loving acts is only more appealing

but really, his true victory was capturing the beauty of the moment, as you eagerly kissed every inch of his face, and him leaving dozens of kisses on you

oh and also he would definitely wear your lipstick marks as badges of honour, running around and showing everyone your work of art

vil definitely yells at the two of you and throws makeup remover at him

Rook’s eyes are alit with anticipation. "Trickster, allow me to shower you with kisses, each one a declaration of my adoration!" he exclaims.

He takes a step back, a mischievous yet affectionate smile playing on his lips. "Mon chou," he says, his voice filled with a touch of playfulness and admiration. "My dear Trickster, I have marked you with my love, and now your face is a living work of art."

He gently tilts your chin upwards, careful not to disturb the delicate artwork that adorned your face. "These lipstick marks, they are not mere smudges to be wiped away, they are an artistry born from our playful game," he smiles fondly. "I must show everyone this exquisite beauty!"

omg… re: the charles like, i’m just giggling at how petty it is. (imo at least) this is a direct response to ferrari leaking the news about his contract negotiations, like a “hey look at how well max and i look together haha (threatening)” and i love it 😭😭😭 (again imo) its completely undeniable now that charles is using lestappen for leverage in his negotiations and im glad hes dispelling the no backbone rumours!!

NO BUT LIKE -- the implications of this

you have to understand, charles likes to play subtle PR games. at the beginning of the year, the charles to merc rumours were emerging and he managed to respond by liking 3 separate tweets about staying with ferrari to shut them down.

now, fast forward to november, charles to rbr agenda is LOUD. ferrari is leaking information about contract negotiations to possibly (and dare i say unsuccessfully) increase public pressure on charles to renew his contract. they even mention in the leaks that he does not have many other options outside of ferrari which is a lie -- red bull publicly voiced interest in him and charles definitely works with multiple plans, so again, this is just them manipulating the narrative

after his crash on sunday, all eyes are on charles and what he says, what's his next move. and what does he do? likes a freaking lestappen edit on main. an edit where a clip of a ferrari car cuts into a clip of an rbr car. this ferrari -> red bull transition may be charles' way to hint at the current contract rumours.

and in a way it's genius, it's not too loud to get a call from ferrari pr to unlike it (like the previous tweets he had to unlike) but also gets the message across.

one thing about charles, he will be smart about his messaging online and we're just witnessing his first choice to speak up after sunday in his own way.

ALSO BEAR IN MIND -- charles is rn in LA for something regarding his WME contract, he's making moves faster like no one else atm

Thank you for tagging me @matchalovertrait @mdshh @duusheen (and anyone else I might have missed, I'm so late to answer!) I'm doing it for Vincent, he's just interesting to talk about! It's a long one:

What uncommon/common fear do they have? Vincent has a fear of crowded places, how people could be watching or spying on him. What do they want? Why are they doing this? Who is behind it? Anyone could be doing it, but he knows it's from his past (unless something new has developed). Remember he has been spied on before, by someone from Strangerville. Now he doesn't know and we don't know if his Dad's disappearance and Strangerville are all linked, but you can probably guess. Also a fear of going into the operating room and surgery.

Do they have any pet peeves? When people are late. He hates it.

What are 3 items you can find in their bedroom? His briefcase, his favourite cologne, iPad

What do they notice first in a person? Facial expressions, eye contact and body language: how they compose themselves.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how high is their pain tolerance? He has high pain tolerance physically/emotionally so 8.

Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure? In the past, it would be flight. But now that he is older it's always fight. In court, he can be under a lot of pressure, but he is always prepared to fight and win!

Do they come from a big family/are they a family person? From his mum's side, he has a big extended family, from Evergreen Harbour and Henford on Bagley! Growing up he has always wanted siblings. He loves having Isaac as a brother and they spend so much time together now! But his childhood was so lonely at home, while his mum was working and his dad always MIA before his disappearance. Vincent always went over to Billy's house to hang out with Charlie! Billy and Josh have always been his father figures, unlike his own. Now with kids, he'll do the best he can to provide a childhood full of love!

What animal represents them best? Vincent is obviously a lion and Isaac is an eagle. You know in an ecosystem there are food chains where predators catch prey. Well, they are Kingsleys, so they're the top of the "hierarchy". Think of it like they're going into enemy territory (investigating their dad or other cases) and they are bringing them down. But their dad is also a Kingsley...

What is a smell that they dislike? Any sort of laboratory setting chemical smell idk...I'm not saying anymore

Have they broken any bones? Nope

How would a stranger likely describe them? Secretive first. But that goes away to easy-going, amicable, reliable

Are they a night owl or a morning bird? Both actually

What is a flavor they hate and a flavor they love? Hmm Vincent is a bit of a foodie and appreciates good food, he likes a lot of stuff really. Something he hates? Mint ice cream lol

Do they have any hobbies? Cooking (I've not explored it though)

Vincent would be full of gratitude to the people who took the time and effort to arrange it. He'll make sure everyone enjoys their time and divert himself from being the centre of attention haha
