So I've Been Thinking...

With the influencer arc vid and Green''s vids dropping recently...

And with Animation vs Youtube showing us that Alan's videos are canon in the AB universe...

How were some of them recorded? Since all of Alan's vids and Green's vids are now in the same universe.

For example, people tend to disregard this fact, but the CG are technically Outernet celebrities.

And if Animator vs Animation (original) and Animation vs Minecraft (original) are canonically videos as well...the others probably are too, right?

So WHO'S BEEN RECORDING!?!?!?

Is it Alan? Has he been recording the sticks without telling them and posting it on YouTube? He might have thought, in the original series, that he'd make a channel where he'd torture sticks or something. But AvA 4 changed that. And Animation vs Youtube made the sticks aware that Alan had a channel.

If so...

Do they know? Did all the stuff the sticks did happen for purely content and views purposes? Is everything planned out, and are the sticks acting? Has he been filming them without them knowing? Or maybe he tells them once the video content ends and they all agree to post it...

But then, how were the Outernet episodes recorded?! How was the Showdown recorded? How was the King recorded? How was Wanted and the Box recorded?

Since the Minecraft game was canonically made by Rocket Corp., was the video dredged from surveillance cameras surrounding? And if so, Did TDL set up cameras around his base that recorded "The Showdown" or something? If so, how was the footage recovered? And how'd they record in the wifi tunnel?

AND DOESNT THIS MEAN THAT THE STICKS CAN JUST GO TO ALANS CHANNEL AND FIND WANTED AND THE BOX ON YOUTUBE!?!?!

Or...maybe I'm just reading too much into it, and only the original AvA and AvM are YouTube canon. That is a possibility, since many of the shots are moving, and someone would need to be in front of the sticks for it to work out...

Since TDL died and came to the overworld, he's kinda just been a headache that Mitsi would rather not be around. But even after all these years. There was one thing Mitsi hoped for. She wanted to be brought back to life, back to her fiancee Victim and best friend Smith. But they already have moved on. Mitsi can't help feel a sense of cold betrayal. No matter what she does, she realises this is what the rest of her life (well death) will be. Barely 4 years alive. She never got her happy ending. Was blew up on a day of celebration. The catch is, she doesn't know who did it. But she wants them to pay.

And wouldn't you know it... TDL is a bad influence on her. He himself never got his happy ending. His manical plans were destroyed. He was teamed up on and killed last minute. And he wants sweet sweet bloody revenge. But Mitsi is, or would be useless. It's just that TDL sees that same yearning for revenge lying in her, and he knows he probably can exploit it. So he teams up with her, they plan a way to come back into the real world. Little does Mitsi know, once they are there, TDL will get the last laugh.

Mitsi herself isn't a perfect character, and she is so torn that she ends up agreeing with doing 'small sacrifices' for the end goal. She can't even remember the end goal, getting revenge on the one who wrong her. The one right in front of her face.

Also corndog guy is immortal even if TDL wins he keeps him around because corndogs

Lmao I asked my deck about how the Pittsburgh Penguins would do in February and my cards seem to think the month looks bright (or not since I don’t deal with reversed so we’re looking at both and it’s real swingy what kind of February is in store for the boys).

Past: The World. Happily ever after following a difficult journey, triumph, and celebration. Reversed its disappointment, shortsightedness, and anxiety. This is saying that the team’s most difficult and rewarding victories (cups anyone? but also the roadtrip we just got done with) are behind them but reminds us that the end of a journey also heralds the beginning of a new journey. What with going 3-4 on the roadtrip but also the goalie goal (and finally being home to celebrate it), I think we definitely hit both the upright and reversed for this card. At the very least, the trip is firmly in the past and we don’t have to be gone for that long again this season. We’ll have another trip to hit col vgk and min but nothing like what just happened.

Present: The Star. Hope after disaster, staying positive after misfortune, being open to future possibilities. Reversed its crushed dreams, despair, exhaustion. Lmao. This season has been disastrous. January certainly felt like a disaster between the losing streaks at home and on the road, sending the Jars and Picks down, and everything that happened. There’s the hope that we’ll see “new month new penguins” but I’m not sure how much faith the fanbase nor the boys have in themselves. Hopefully the two week break and the return home are enough to uplift. If not that then maybe we’ll see some new boys and new possibilities as we inch closer to both the break and the tdl.

Future: Page of Coins. The beginning of Spring and a fresh start. Hope, mental wellness, and setting goals to build to a bright future. Reversed its lack of common sense, laziness, apathy. I’m choosing to hope this is about calling the kids up, making strategic trades, and setting down the bones of a team that can either claw its way to the playoffs this year or next. Hopefully we banish the lingering apathy and get a group who can play a full 60 minutes and show us hockey to get excited about. Maybe the break will be good for the boys and those in the tourney can find something to inspire them. Pls pls pls gmkd don’t fuck up this tdl or any trades this month I’m begging

The official translation is 美女と野獣 ! For characters names i just go off what this page has for them. Some characters are easier to look for with their unique names (cogs, mrs potts) and some not so much (lumiere stuff is difficult to look for. How many damn anime characters are called lumiere.) so maybe trial-and-error your searches sjdjdj

Must mention that Disney is VERY popular in Japan so stuff abt BATB and the other assorted disneys is plentiful 🤌

the 40th Anniversary celebration at Tokyo Disneyland kicks off today, so here’s a Clockboy I drew in an outfit inspired by this year’s theme (Dream-Go-Round)!

i originally wanted to visit the resort this year but the initial plans we were making were before the pandemic... and before the Montana-to-California move (which was expensive), so this art is the closest i can get to celebrating 😂

In 2024 Tokyo Disneyland launched a series of mini-festival events called Disney Pal-Palooza. The first ran from January-March 2024 and was themed as "Minnie's Funderland," a celebration of Minnie Mouse and all the things she dreams and loves. Special decorations, merchandise, food, and a parade were part of this event - and so was a special trash can design! These pink garbage and recycling cans featuring light blue trim, light pink polka-dots, and a red bow situated on the inlet flap. It's great to see Tokyo delivering limited-time themed cans to support their festivals. TDL also did this back in 2021 for their "Happy Fair with Baymax" limited-time meet-and-greet event - and a special red Baymax can. Hey Athena, thanks for the lovely ask! I'm doing well. Writing priorities are shifting rn because I'm done revisions for Life in Black and White as of Saturday - it's still technically a wip because I need to do my line edit and incorporate beta reader feedback from this cycle, but it's going back on the shelf for at least a month. I'm also celebrating 15 years since I started writing the draft today. 🥹

For June my focus will be on some short piece submissions, zero drafting Supernova, and reoutlining (+ doing additional research for) some parts of The Dotted Line I'll be writing for Camp NaNoWriMo's July edition. Funnily enough, I started TDL's draft on July 1st, 2013 as part of Camp NaNoWriMo - it's kind of a "coming full circle" moment.

Speaking of Camp: @catchingbigfish and I are looking to start a discord server with other writeblr folks who are interested in encouraging each other for Camp NaNo in July! Anyone who sees this post and wants to participate can either reply here or on her post, or message us about it and we'll get in touch with details.

Okay I'm currently at the Austin airport in a 3 hour flight delay so here is my rant if anyone cares

(abbreviation key: TDL = Tokyo Disneyland, IASW = it's a small world, DLR is Disneyland Resort)

This is seemingly the Tokyo Disneyland Resort's first official venture into incorporating Marvel IP (outside of Big Hero 6, which is part of the Disney Animation canon rather than the MCU directly) into their parks -- it's possible I'm missing something since I live in the US and don't follow TDL news as closely as I do DLR but I digress

The choice to do this overlay in IASW is the most bizarre thing ever and clearly stems from the fact they want to market cute designs of MCU characters; this has some decent weight as a claim because merch of the IASW-ified Disney IP characters is really popular over there (as well as in the domestic parks) and the fact Groot, the cute baby character, is spearheading the overlay really drives this home

I don't think IASW has low attendance numbers over there, but it is a high capacity ride, which can sustain potential high crowds over the winter and early summer of 2025 when the overlay will be in place... I guess to someone over there, this was the only "touchable" attraction for a potential weird crowd distribution due to Fantasy Springs + holidays + likely unannounced refurbs at TDL

So we have:

Merchandising Potential

Crowd Management

as likely reasons for this overlay. These are valid reasons from an operations and corporate synergy standpoint but it completely disregards the attraction it's actually being installed in

IASW is supposed to be a celebration of (a lot of) cultures on earth. and features animatronic human children and other "toys" depicting animals and objects to represent countries -- there are. issues with watering down cultures which is a whole other conversation unrelated to the overlay (and could and should be part of a more broad discussion about representation of cultures and POC in theme parks in general but I don't think I can really be an authority on this as A White Guy From America)

but anyway. Groot is an alien. Mantis and Gamora? Aliens. The overlay is supposed to be Groot experiencing cultures from around the world... Okay. Fine whatever. But half the MCU cast is from America (especially NYC), or from fictional locations (like Wakanda)... How is this a like. Valid interpretation of a celebration of world cultures...? Like okay bring John Superhero from New York and place him in Italy. It just feels weird and out of place!

And this is being integrated into a version of IASW with the Disney IPs already in it!!! which was already a controversial addition to the ride that first showed up at the Disneyland version in 2008 (i have mixed feelings on it)

And again, I don't hate the visual gags or Groot as a character etc etc. but this overlay is turning IASW in TDL into an IP dumping ground... Which I mean. The parks as a whole are becoming that... but that's another rant for another day.

Like... this would be a better installment at Epcot's World Showcase, a theme park that already has Guardians characters! No, they couldn't include Thor or whatever, but limiting to just the Guardians would suffice. It could easily replace that DuckTales experience and would be less intrusive than shoving characters into an unrelated attraction (like you could have the characters installed on facades or in planters or window displays)

Anyway I don't have any like. Closing thoughts or anything, this is a stream of consciousness rant that's been brewing in my mind for 15 hours. I'm at least glad the overlay is only 6 months + not in the American parks but it sets a bad precedent for shoving unrelated IP into attractions without a full attempt to blend them in/without regard for an attraction's theme (tho one could argue the initial installment of Disney IP into IASW + POTC movies into Pirates + Haunted Mansion Holiday also do this, but it's done with more tact and more respect for attraction theme (even tho POTC install changes the plot of the ride--))

We got our first look at the "it's a small world" with Groot overlay at TDL........
