Miraculous Ladybug: No More Heroes - Chapter 26
Welp, this time it's actually chapter 26.
The Future Soon - Summary:
Chalot gives Adrien a tour of the Miraculous Task Force facilities, where Adrien finds an unfortunately familiar face.
"Gabriel, be honest. It wasn't Emilie's death that made you a villain, it wasn't the world, and it wasn't the miraculous. It was always you - You were a villain long before you created Hawkmoth." Three years after his death, Gabriel Agreste awakens to a Paris ruled by akumas. He has no idea how he's alive, he has no idea what happened to Paris, all he knows it that he was the one who allowed this to happen. Hunted by the ghosts of his past, with no miraculous to protect him, and his greatest enemy now his only ally, Gabriel must brave this nightmare with Marinette Dupain-Cheng and make a choice: To become the villain he knows he is, or to find a way to become the father he failed to be.

i know people like to make Alya the crazy butting-herself-into-someone-else's-relationship person, but i never felt like that was fair, when she's only so involved in marinette's love life because marinette MADE her involved. marinette canonically wakes alya up early saturday mornings to whine to her about her adrien problems, most of the crazy adrienette schemes were made by marinette herself with only alya's partial help, and then, what, marinette expects alya to believe her when she says she's toooootally over adrien this time for real and it tooooootally isn't another intentional self-sabotage this time alya i swear—
anyway. i fully believe that marinette would 10000% be a much much crazier "matchmaker" than alya if she were given the right conditions. if marinette knew someone like marinette she would absolutely be butting herself into the relationship even without being invited to. ladybug literally made mylene kiss a giant stone golem because "ooommgg they're made for each other". marinette tried to force kagami to get back together with adrien despite having no knowledge of their relationship or why they broke up in the first place. alya only gets a bad rep because she's a supporting cast to the central romance, but if marinette was the supporting cast to a different central romance, she would be 999999x worse. and i mean this with so much love

Chloe Knows:
Apparently game Chloe knows Marinette is Ladybug, so I wrote this:
Summary: Chloé Bourgeois is perhaps the last person Marinette expected to see on her roof after having lost the Miraculous to Felix.
Chloé Bourgeois is also probably the person Marinette least wants to see on her roof.
Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, Chloe knows more than she's ever let on and that complicates things, but it just might end up helping too.
Chloe Knows:
The last thing Marinette expected to deal with right now was Chloe hanging out on her roof, arms folded and tapping her yellow jacket impatiently.
It was also the last thing Marinette wanted to deal with, save maybe finding Hawk Moth waiting for her. & that thought just sent her gut into a tailspin, so Marinette forced open her ceiling hatch and stalked onto the roof.
Chloe zeroed in on her instantly, hissing, "You kept me waiting!"
Marinette barely resisted the urge to grab and shake the blonde, because she had only just finished re-tethering herself after the disaster of losing the Miracle Box.
Still, she had just enough restraint to only force her way into Chloe's space, grounding out, "How did you trick my parents into letting you up here, Chloe?"
The blonde blinked confusedly, "I climbed?" She motioned to a discarded pair of gloves sitting in the rooftop bin. "Why would I talk to your parents about that anyway? This is our business."
Marinette tried very hard to parse that question but she was still trying to process Chloe having scaled her walls!?
"Because they-, I-" No she as not dealing with that right now. "Chloe we don't have business!" Marinette settled on, arms flailing.
"Normally we wouldn't, you made sure of that-"
"Oh I made sure of it?"
"Yes you," Chloe huffed, somehow the one affronted, "When you got me to be terrible for my mother, then made it impossible for me to be good as Queen Bee by taking Pollen. Now you go and lose her & the others? I thought you were at least cunning to pull that scheme off Dupain-Cheng, or are you just lucky!?"
Marinette technically 'heard' what Chloe said, but she didn't have the wherewithal to react to it. Not right now as her whole world felt like it was suddenly unreal and empty and yet crushingly full all at once.
"Hah, haha, what are you t- talking about? Me, take a pollen? I don't know what that is? I don't even like wasps!"
Chloe dragged her hands down her face, screaming into her palms, "You cannot be this thick, no one can, for the- I know you're Ladybug, I've known your Ladybug for ages. Now tell me how you lost the Miraculous!"
"I could never be-"
Chloe stepped forward, counting off on her fingers.
"Rena is Alya, Nino is Carapace, Sabrina the Hound, Max is Pegasus, Kim is monkey guy and Zoe is Vespera, very petty of you, kudos really. Need I list more?"
"I"
"I've seen your Kwami, do I need to grab your damned earrings!?"
Marinette's hands flew to them, and she flung herself back, then started to giggle, maniacally.
"Hahaha, of- of course, this is a nightmare! All a nightmare! I didn't fail, Chloe doesn't know anything, I didn't get tricked by Felix and doom Paris! Hahaha- OW!"
Chloe pulled her hand back and out of pinching distance.
"You're awake Dupain-Cheng & finally answered my question to boot. Felix, ugh!! What, did he pull that stupid 'I'm Adrien' stunt and you just tripped over yourself?"
"Actually-" Tikki cut in gently, drifting out of her bag. "There was no tripping that I recall, & he'd had help this time, as Adrien wished to stay in Paris so it was more believable."
Marinette felt like her throat was closing up as she rasped, "Tikki, why!?"
The Kwami turned to her, big eyes doleful, "I am sorry Marinette, but it was obvious she knew and has evidently known for sometime. I felt you continuing to try and cover this up would only make things worse not better."
"Good thing too, I was about to tackle her and shake you out of that bag-ah!"
Marinette grabbed Chloe, spun her around and trapped her against the nearest wall. Eyes wild and frantic, the command phrase to transform dancing on her lips.
"Where's Hawk Moth? What's your game Chloe!?"
"If this was a game I'd be having fun, also," Chloe brought her hands up, and sharply but lightly 'chopped' her way out of Marinette's grip with the sudden pressure on her elbows and then shot out of grabbing range.
"Uhu, you had your chance to straddle me and passed it up."
Marinette's overtaxed brain wanted to 'scream' at that particular mental image. But Ladybug Brain was taking over and she snapped.
"How long have you known? It can't be that long or Hawk Moth would have found out already. After Penal-Team, no after-"
"Are you kidding? I've known way longer than that," Chloe boasted.
"Then why doesn't Hawk Moth know? Why didn't you just Akumatize and bring him the Miraculous!?" Marinette hissed.
"Because I don't want him to win, obviously!"
"You say you want him to win all the time!"
"I say stupid stuff when I'm angry, sue me!"
"Marinette!" Her parents called, and she could hear them racing up the ladder and nearly tripping over one another in a bid to make it to the rood.
Tikki vanished back into her purse and Marinette stood stock still frozen as her parents clambered out. Her mother hugging her close and her dad stepping between her and Chloe.
"How did you get up here?" Her father groused.
"Marinette, are you OK?" Sabine asked, fretfully.
A million and one excuses flew through Marinette's exhausted brain. Class project, Chat Noir dumped Chloe on her roof, she was Ladybug & Chloe had come to yell at her- No wait, that was the truth!
"What business is it of yours?" Chloe snapped back, evidently not intimidated by her father.
"Because this is our home, and our daughter and you are trespassing." Tom rumbled.
Chloe leaned to the side and looked at Marinette, still in her mothers arms, and then pointedly looked 'past' them.
"That doesn't answer my question, Marinette and I's business is none of yours."
Her mother frowned, "You've never had business with our daughter, just sharp words at best. You have no right to her or anything here."
"Ch- Chloe was just checking up on me, after Monarch's announcement." Marinette rambled, trying to piece the pieces together into something workable that wouldn't send Chloe into a fit.
Both her parents looked stunned and also like they wanted to ask if she was concussed.
Fortunately, Chloe managed to pick up where she'd left off.
"Exactly, we certainly aren't friends, but I felt obliged to check up on someone else I knew Ladybug wouldn't check on."
"What?" Her mothers hug tightened, and her voice actually quivered.
Her father looked between the two sides, seemingly lost for what to do with himself.
The pieces fell into place and Marinette came to the truth, in a sense.
"I was Multi-Mouse, when my science teacher god Akumatized, Ladybug needed someone who was good at multitasking."
"Marinette," Her father rushed forward and pulled her into a hug that knocked the air out of her lungs.
"I... I helped her, I did OK I think."
"You got the Miraculous back so you did your job," Chloe cut in, neither warm nor scathing.
Her mother evidently didn't agree, "It shouldn't have been her job, either of your jobs. You're children!"
"Mum, dad, it's fine, really it's fine!"
Her mother ran a hand through her hair, "I feel like there's something you aren't saying sweetheart."
She glanced at Chloe who was watching the exchange with an inscrutable expression. Some strange mix of confusion and almost starvation like hunger that was honestly painful to perceive.
Marinette licked her lips and pressed on.
"Chloe was right that Ladybug might not check up on me. At least not in a way I could see."
"She's usually such a good hero?" Her father said, sounding despondent.
"It's because I asked her too! I... When I was Multi-Mouse, I used the other Miraculous. A lot. I shouldn't have, but nothing bad happened!" she hastily added, at her parents near frantic looks of worry.
"Ladybug warned me, but I misunderstood and she said even though I was OK this time I shouldn't use magic again for a long time. I was upset, I wanted to help her, I-"
Why was she crying?
"I wanted to be a good hero, but I just screwed up and now," she was sobbing. Gods she was sobbing in her mothers arms.
"There there, my treasure, I am sure you were brilliant, let it out," her mother stroked her hair while her father hovered protectively, one large hand rubbing circles on her back.
Fortunately, Marinette had already cried her heart out once tonight and was too tired for a truly spectacular breakdown.
She managed to half slip her mothers grip, wiping at her eyes. "Thanks, both of you," she glanced at Chloe who was back to not quite staring at them. Her face was a mask of forced, haughty neutrality that looked like it was being kept in place with wires buried beneath her skin.
"Thanks for checking up on me Chloe, and for somehow not telling Hawkmoth our, my, anyone's identities when he had you Akumatized all those times." Because she still needed an answer to that, only the fact Tikki hadn't seemed panicked was keeping her grounded.
Chloe swallowed, hands clenching and unclenching before she spoke.
"Yes, well, I might not be Queen Bee or a hero anymore, but ridiculous circumstances demand ridiculous actions. So for tonight I'm a hero and it's the duty of a hero to look out for people. Even one's they hate."
OK, ow.
Chloe pressed on, "As to identities," She shrugged. "If that idiot Hawkmoth, Shadowmoth or whatever he's calling himself had that kind of control he wouldn't have to wait for people to break before getting them under his thumb. Even when I let him in the last few times, I never let him dig deep and I'd just kick him out if he tried to paw at any of my secrets."
Marinette felt like her heart was going to collapse in on itself because, "Even knowing everything you do, you just- I can't- I don't understand you at all Chloe!"
That actually seemed to draw the blonde up short, "That's a surprise, I thought you knew me better than anyone. You're certainly good at," Chloe looked at her parents ten back to Marinette, "Hitting my weak spots when we come to blows."
It felt like there was a lot to unpack there and for the first time in a long time, Marinette knew she'd actually have to spare no small amount of time and thought on Chloe's inner workings.
For now though.
"Even if you 'can' just kick him out."
"You know I can!" Chloe stomped her foot. "You saw me do it when I was Penal-Team!"
"That's my point! Isn't that like willingly helping him!? Other people have to be tricked!"
Chloe scoffed, "Tricked she says, don't over-sell it, it's being angry or sad, or whatever and taking a deal. Besides, does it look like I'm helping? I played soccer for an hour then quit."
"You had a bunch of people trapped in deadly orbs Chloe!"
"So what!? People try to kill me all the time! Ivan tried to smear me on the pavement! Nathanial tried to chop my legs off! Mommy murdered me and no one cared! No one!"
There was a choked edge in that but Chloe pressed on. "Because it's not a big deal, and anyone trying to make it a big deal is just looking for sympathy points, so there."
She huffed and unfolded her arms, "Anyway you've clearly got people to tend to and I got what I came for. See you at school, Multi-Mouse."
With that she marched across the rooftop to her sky-box. "I'm not climbing the walls again if I don't have to so I'll just leave out the front and avoid the stray dog."
Before she reached the door, Marinette was surprised to see her mother reach out and gently grasp Chloe's shoulder.
"Chloe," She said firmly, as the blonde practically froze up, looking half ready to bolt, or shout. "Thank you for checking up on our daughter, that was a good thing and for whatever it's worth. People should have cared, I'm sorry those who should don't."
There was a moment where Marinette honestly expected Chloe to start crying, to fling herself at her mother and howl and sob. She was sure she saw something glisten in her eyes before Chloe wiped it away, and swallowed.
Her voice was rough as she said, "It's... Thanks, or whatever, doesn't matter. I don't need anyone's help."
"Everyone needs someone, so if your feelings change, don't be afraid to ask, people can surprise you. Especially if you don't break into their house." Her mother said the last part with a sort of forced, hopeful smile.
Chloe nodded, like taking an instruction, a rasped something escaping her lips before she achingly pulled away and climbed down the ladder.
A million and one feelings, questions and terrors still swirled in Marinette's mind but as her father and mother gently guided her down the ladder, intent on hot coco and comfort talk. She knew they'd have to wait. Could wait, until she was rested and ready.
Even still, a part of her would linger on the question of Chloe. What to think, to feel, to do, certainly. But also on the quieter, more uncomfortable thoughts.
Like who someone who felt they had no one would turn to if they were desperate and at the end of their rope.
'& it's not just Chloe either, who does Chat Noir have besides me?'
It was an uncomfortable thought, but one buoyed by a new revelation. No matter how omnipotent Hawk Moth seemed, no matter how all knowing he claimed to be; he was clearly far less than that.
It wasn't much to build on, but it was something, a foot hold from which she could dig in her heels and drag him down from his perch.
Golden hair flashed in her mind again and another thought echoed in her head.
'One good foot hold may be enough to bring down Hawkmoth. So what could it do for someone else?'
Because no matter what she said or had done, Chloe made a choice tonight, and had been making choices for longer than Marinette realized. Not having fallen down the slope but merely standing on the brink.
'But she took a step back tonight, to somewhere I can reach.'
& maybe all Marinette needed was one good foothold to pull Chloe all the way back, perhaps Farther than she'd ever been, or Marinette even realized was possible.
It was a tender little hope, strange and unsure, but somehow, in Marinette's mind, it felt like solid gold.
NOTES:
Wrote this is one sitting, then edited it, I hope it reads well XD
I have no plans to continue this, though if someone else wants to take it and run with it please feel free. I kind of envision Marinette re-inviting Chloe to the class group chat as a sort of olive branch and them slowly working through their respective issues.
Also Chloe turning up at Felix's with a tazer and the same martial arts skills that let her fight Mayura to a stand still and possibly, violently reclaiming Doosoo, cos you can pry Jock!Chloe from my cold dead hands!

Ranking the Miracuclass based on how likely they are to burn down a building.
Marinette: Very much would never burn down a building intentionally. Still has burnt down a building. 5/10
Alya: Would joke about burning down a building, but wouldn't actually do it. 3/10
Adrien: Yes. 10/10
Nino: He would never. That would harsh his mellow. 0/10
Chloe: She absolutely would, but is repeatedly prevented from doing so. 6/10
Sabrina: Only when pushed to the absolute brink. 2/10
Mylene: Usually wouldn't but could be coerced if it was for environmental reasons. 7/10
Ivan: If Mylene wants it done, Ivan gets it done. 8/10
Rose: She would want to, but could never go through with it. 5/10
Juleka: She wouldn't really want to, but she knows how. And probably has. 6/10
Kim: He would set *himself* on fire. -10/10. Please stay safe, Kim.
Max: Max has way more efficient and controllable methods for destroying buildings. 1/10
Alix: Actually very careful. She knows her limits and does not set fires. Instead she travels through time to places that are already burning. Alix/10
Nathaniel: He would not admit it, but he has already done so and could very well do it again if you make him angry enough. 9/10
Lila: Ironically most of the fires she starts are metaphorical. But sometimes it's necessary for her schemes. 8/10
BONUS
Luka: He is an expert at starting fires. But he's also an expert at putting them out. 2/10
Kagami: Secretly really likes fire, and as such is kept away from it. 6/10
Marc: Fears fire with every fiber of his being. No arson here, folks. 0/10
Ondine: She's the queen of overkill, but she and Kim balance out. 10/10 becomes 0/10.
Felix: Tries very hard to set things on fire but gets blocked by his own plans and Adrien being Adrien. 5/10
Zoe: Capable and willing, but is too busy blockading Chloe. 4/10

did you see the spoilers for ml season 6 where there’s a new girl with a prosthetic leg and that leg ends up broken and marinette’s involved somehow? honestly i’m gonna give marinette the benefit of the doubt for now and just assume this is either a huge misunderstanding/accident or extremely misleading spoiler just because this is a serious thing, like I was super disappointed with how her character’s written in season 4 and 5 but I just don’t want to believe the writers would come up with something like this when this would easily be one of the worst things she’s ever done (if she’s actually responsible). I saw the spoiler on TikTok and there’s several explanations I’ve seen in the comments:
the new girl (idr her name) is lila/cerise in disguise and she wants to ruin marinette’s reputation (iirc the writers said she’s nice and not a villain but maybe they just don’t want to spoil the plot for obvious reasons)
marinette didn’t have bad intentions/it was an accident/misunderstanding/spoilers are too misleading/not enough information yet
and my least favorite explanation…the new girl was trying to get with adrien (some fans are saying this to say this is all part of her scheme to get adrien to break up with marinette and date her instead but some are saying this to justify marinette if she was actually at fault for this)
I think my main concern is how the writers are going to address this. What if they try to justify it if marinette really was at fault? Or what if it’s all a misunderstanding but then they put the new girl to the side to focus on how sad this is for marinette? Are they going to be able to address this in a way that doesn’t come across as ableist while also not making their protagonist look like a bad person? What do you think?
---
I just saw the leak, but at first I couldn't find it, so I’d already written a response before that, so here's me describing the possible nightmare scenarios before the writers proved me right about their priorities:
Like, hot take, but it doesn’t matter what the new girl is doing, messing with her mobility aid would still be absolutely unforgivable. Even if it’s Lila in disguise, Marinette has already exhibited so much ableism in trying to prove her disabilities aren’t real that I would just say that the writers shouldn’t be allowed to as much as mention any disability ever again. “A person claiming they’re disabled could be lying to get special considerations, so make sure to check any claims of disability, no matter how awful you come across for doing it,” is not a lesson that has any place in a children’s cartoon, even accidentally. And that’s exactly what any scenario with a girl faking a disability / using their disability to get closer to Adrien would entail as well, the idea that we should be suspicious of disabled people trying to “cheat” their way to things that “belong” to us.
But, like, even if it actually is going to be aiming to be an actual lesson in disabilities where it’s all a misunderstanding/mistake, the thing is that, lately, I’ve been looking back at the “lessons” in this show, even in the earlier seasons, and I just don’t have faith in these writers’ ability to deliver any kind of moral to kids in a consistent way, unless they’re going to have a character directly talk to the screen to explain what the moral is.
Let’s use ‘The Mime’ as an example. The scenario in this episode is that Marinette, through her clumsiness, deletes the most important video Alya had filmed so far, and then spends the rest of the episode trying to recreate the video in order to cover up for her mistake. In the end, it turns out there was no problem because Alya had already saved a copy of the video because she expected something like Marinette deleting it to happen, so she was never even mad or disappointed, but Marinette still sets up Alya to get a one-on-one interview with Ladybug. What did Marinette learn in this episode exactly?
The most good faith interpretation of the episode is that the point is that you own up and make up for your mistakes, hence Marinette setting Alya up to get an interview with Ladybug. But this message is muddled up by the fact that, even before the retool, the writers didn’t want Marinette suffering any real consequences for messing up, or to show her messing up in a way that couldn’t be “fixed”, so the video was actually safe and no irreparable damage was done. Alya had foreseen that Marinette would mess up and planned accordingly. This takes the wind out of the sails of the lesson because of course Marinette would do something nice for Alya, who’s such a considerate friend who never gets mad at her and plans around Marinette’s flaws. It’s a pretty different thing to go out of your way to apologise or make things up to someone who is actually mad at you for a good reason, and it requires a lot more courage. The situation in ‘The Mime’ is the easiest version of this situation imaginable for Marinette, but completely unrealistic for anyone facing this kind of situation in real life.
So, with this kind of previous showing back when I still had faith in this show, how would I expect them to deal with Marinette accidentally messing with someone’s mobility aid post-retool? I’d expect a lot of focus on how upsette Marinette is, because that’s the show’s number one priority outside of the love quest, with the show going out of it’s way to make it very clear that Marinette didn’t mean to, she feels really bad about it and she’s scared of how the new girl will react. At the end of the episode she would gather her courage and face the music, and it turns out the new girl was actually getting a new mobility aid that very same day and she wouldn’t have needed the old one any longer anyway. And then Marinette will maybe make some gesture of friendship that the new girl gladly accepts, no hard feelings. Any normal person would still be pissed about their expensive mobility aid being messed with, but the writers of this show never have characters react normally when the normal thing to do is not instantly forgive Marinette. So this scenario would be making things easy for Marinette, but completely unrealistic for the viewing audience.
Simply put, I really, really really hope the sneak preview is purposefully misleading, as they tend to be, and the crew doesn’t try to tackle the topic of physical disabilities with their tendency to favor the perspective of their coddled, able-bodied protagonist.
After seeing the leak:
So, like, fucking hell, way to further sully the idea that Marinette ever took her job as Ladybug seriously. Just to make herself look like the victim when she’s caught stalking someone (something she insisted last season she’d stopped doing), she goes so far as faking being Akumatized, transforming into Ladybug and jumping right in the middle of the field, of this girl's path, to scream about an Akuma attack. Like, the reveal that Sublime knew there was actually no Akuma and that Tomoe apparently made the leg less sturdy on purpose doesn’t make it better when Marinette got Sublime slippery and then startled her enough to make her slip. People break perfectly fine legs from slipping, it's why anti-skid devices sell so well in winter. All of this being an accident doesn’t make it okay, and Marinette sure as hell didn’t have anything close to those “good intentions” her stans love to attribute to her.
But, of course, her victim is going to be a perfect flawless angel who wasn't even upset about the stalking, instead defending Marinette to Ladybug, just in case saying: “this girl I know pretended to be Akumatized because she was caught stalking me” might make Marinette look bad to the audience. She also instantly reassures Ladybug, the one who actually caused her to slip, who hasn't done anything more than stare at her slack-jawed, because god forbid anyone ever say anything about Marinette that isn't validation or praise while she's too busy freaking out about herself.
Like, Marinette causes Sublime to break her leg, and we instantly see the victim in this situation go: “I’m okay, I’m not hurt”, while Marinette just stands there having her personal little panic attack. Like, a girl lost her leg, and the writers still try to sell Marinette as the injured party by having the victim insist she's okay while Marinette is having another one of her manipulative, please-feel-sorry-for-me-audience emotional breakdowns. The writers seriously made Marinette’s victim prioritize reassuring her over anything else.
I knew the writers were going to have Marinette be instantly forgiven, but I wasn’t expecting it to be so instant that she didn’t even get to finish processing her fuck-up. Or to go so out of their way to make Marinette seem less at fault because, like, Tomoe messing with the leg on purpose isn't a villain scheme, it was just to make Marinette look better in comparison.
The writers have this ability where, when I write down what I think would be a very likely way for one of their stories to go very badly, they do just that while still managing to make it worse.

Miraculous Ladybug Marigami AU where Adrien and Felix are literally just cats:
They are both rescues, of course. Adrien is a little shy at first but once he gets to know a person he is the cuddliest, most affectionate, most adorable little bean. He never misbehaves and he learns tricks happily and quickly. His owner, Marinette, loves him so much she is fully delusional about all cats surely being like this as well and Alya regularly has to stop her from getting more.
Now Felix on the other hand is a menace. A gremlin of epic proportion, he is constantly doing exactly what he knows he isn't supposed to and uncannily good at it. He won't just get into the stash of cat food, he'll get into the whole fridge somehow. Simultaneously he is completely unwilling to perform tricks no matter how you try to motivate him and he will scratch the fuck out of anyone who tries to touch him except for his owner: Kagami. Inexplicably he loves Kagami and Kagami only. For her he's cuddly and cute and loves riding on her shoulders or being carried by her but she need only point him at someone else and he starts hissing.
This is all well and good until Marinette and Kagami's relationship goes to the next level and they move in together.
Thinking Felix is like Adrien (they do look identical after all) Marinette tries to befriend him and gets shredded for her troubles. Kagami tells her to be careful with Felix: He just doesn't like anyone, it's not about her and she doesn't want Marinette getting hurt. Marinette says: "Of course, of course! Don't even worry about it!" But secretly she is determined to befriend that cat. That cat is her girlfriend's cat and it is going to love her too or clearly she is a terrible girlfriend and not worthy of Kagami. She goes through her typical Marinettesque schemes to befriend him: Food bribary, catnip perfume, stealing Kagami's perfume and clothes, buying him toys, letting him get away with his mischief - nothing works. He stays aloof and hostile, Marinette ending up with more scratches than healthy skin. She excuses them as sewing misshaps, but Kagami isn't stupid.
Eventually Kagami catches on to her girlfriend's suffering and asks her what's going on. Marinette breaks down and admits what she's been trying to do but that she's failed. That Felix still hated her and so inevitably Kagami would come to hate her too because if she doesn't get along with her cat then how could Kagami ever love her? Kagami tells her she's being stupid, shocking Marinette out of her anxiety attack. Kagami reassures her that Felix hates everyone and Kagami knows this. She would never require for a girlfriend of hers to befriend him because that would be impossible. Yes, Felix is important to her but Marinette is too. She wants to stay her girlfriend and the only thing she needs Marinette to do in regards to Felix is live comfortably in the same flat as him. If she can do that without constantly being attacked, without suffering - which Kagami is willing to help with, she doesn't want to put Marinette alone through trouble to make this work - then that's all that matters.
Marinette apologises for going behind her back with this whole thing and not just being honest from the start and they finally settle into cohabitation. Marinette loves Kagami so much it's easy for her to put up with needing to avoid Felix and simply ignore the cat. Adrien and Felix get along fine with each other, surprisingly. They don't cuddle often but Felix does seem to take some form of liking to the other cat, often mirroring with him and sometimes even playing. It takes a few more instances of getting scratched or hissed at until Marinette can tell Adrien and Felix apart on sight and from then on she simply enjoys having her own cuddly kitty and her wonderful girlfriend.
Felix is not happy about this. He does not like sharing his owners attention and the at first only annoying new human in his territory becomes his enemy. He lingers and watches at first, always a far too clever cat. Her room is locked to keep him out but doors have never stopped him for long. He has a secret way outside that the goodie-two-paws Adrien never uses but Felix is braver than him and so he waits for his opportunity. One day Marinette leaves her bedroom window open while she's rushing to buy another stretch of fabric, the deadline of her newest and most complex project yet looming, and Felix strikes.
Marinette comes home to find the dress she was sewing in tatters, her room in utter disarray and having been stressed out of her mind already completely breaks down. Kagami comes home to find her girlfriend crying curled up on the floor, surrounded by the evidence of Felix's crime. Now Kagami would see how useless this human was and go back to paying attention to only him.
Except that's not what happens. When Kagami goes to him and picks him up it's to drop and lock him in the bathroom. It's trivial for him to escape but that she put him there in the first place is irreconcilable. And freed all he can do is watch as Kagami holds and comforts the other human, petting her head the way he should be getting petted. No! This is wrong! He has to do something! He tries to go to Kagami pretending to be Adrien but the other cat is already curled supportively in Marinette's lap and Kagami would have recognised him anyway and she says: "Felix, no! Bad cat!" He is sent away, out of the room. Away from his beloved owner. And just like that Felix's world crumbles. He was a bad cat? His Kagami had called him a bad cat?? All because of that girl!? It was all her fault! Except, no. Felix was a smarter cat than that. He knew that it was his own fault.
Kagami asks for an extension on Marinette's project for her and the client is only too happy to allow it. Marinette's work is so excellent, they say, that any wait is worth it. "See?", Kagami tells her. "It's going to be alright. I'm sorry about Felix I don't understand what's gotten into him. I'll take him to the vet tomorrow." Marinette asks her what if he just hates her? What if he will always hate her? "He won't", Kagami promises her. "Nobody could ever hate you forever, Marinette. Not even Chloé Bourgeois did, remember?" And that did cheer Marinette up because it was funny to think of a cat as a bigger diva than Chloé Bourgeois. "I love you", Marinette tells Kagami. "I love you too", Kagami responds. And in Marinette's lap Adrien meows his own agreement.
The next day Felix is taken to the vet but other than extreme grumpyness nothing seems to be wrong with him. The vet says if he had a few more symptoms like lack of appetite he would say he's depressed but it is likely he is simply acting out because he does not like a recent change in his environment. Kagami is down her whole way back home and so is Felix. "I don't want to give you up", she tells the cat, having always felt that he could understand her. He is such a smart cat, sometimes to his own detriment. "But I'm not giving up her either. Please don't cleave my heart in two, Felix." And Felix responds with a miserable little mewel.
Things are calm at the flat for the next few days. Marinette is busy with her project and Kagami takes Felix to her room most days, still worried he'll act out again. This is what Felix wanted but somehow it doesn't feel like a victory. He doesn't like it when Kagami is sad like this and he doesn't like that he is the cause of that sadness.
When Marinette is finally done with the dress she collapses into Kagami's arms for the next few days. She's overworked herself as usual to make up for the therefore minimal delay. Kagami thinks it's admirable and cute but since meeting Marinette and falling for her she's also realised the toll of excellence and recognising that in Marinette made her rethink those values. Now she takes it easy from time to time and wishes Marinette would push herself less as well. But that is a problem she can adress another time. For now she is happy to cuddle and comfort her girlfriend as long as she needs it and longer. Adrien comes walking up then, meowing politely as he always does before jumping up onto the couch with them to support his Marinette. Kagami adores Felix but she has to admit Adrien's more generous affection has grown on her. He cuddles up to Marinette and is happy with Kagami's headscratches, purring contently as Marinette stroked his back and held him close.
Then Adrien walks into the room, meowing politely as he always does before hesitating as he sees there is already a cat on the sofa with his owner. Marinette and Kagami both look at him in wonder, then down at the cat they were already petting, then at each other, then back at the cat. "Felix?", Kagami asks and he meows, seeming to still as if anticipating trouble. Marinette has frozen up too, hand hovering over his back. He'd never let her pet him before. Not even a little bit. Carefully Marinette resumes her strokes and after another moment Felix resumes his purring, seeming to never break eye contact with Kagami. Kagami looks at her cat and her girlfriend and can't help but smile. When Marinette looks back up to her it is with tears and glee in her eyes. With the hand not petting Felix she pulls Kagami into a soft kiss. Adrien, finally seeming to decide that any lap will do, jumps up and cuddles into Kagami, prompting a bit of a chuckle from Marinette. She scratches him under his chin with her free hand which requires some contortion as she avoids having to move Felix. Then she contently leans into Kagami, feeling entirely at home for the first time.
Felix is still a beast, still more likely to misbehave than to not. But he knows to leave Marinette's room alone and doesn't scratch her anymore. The degree of affection from that one night stays a novelty, but Marinette can give him a pet or two without him fleeing or complaining. Now the only ones at risk of falling into the trap of thinking they are approaching Adrien and instead get four sets of claws of Felix are Marinette and Kagami's guests. Alya simply learns not to approach and let Adrien approach her instead. Juleka gently stops Rose from trying to cuddle Felix despite his protests. Alix makes it a challenge for herself to pet him and retreat fast enough so he can't scratch her in time. Kim launches little balls of paper at both cats until Marinette and Kagami tell him to stop, despite neither cat exactly hating the experience. Chloé was never interested in pets, saying she hates to get fur on her expensive clothes, though one day Marinette catches Chloé petting Felix anyway and Felix letting himself be pet by her. Marinette can't decide if it's a miracle or an omen but either way, Chloé doesn't hear the end of it for weeks. Max just has Makov pet Felix which also works, somehow. Nino is far too busy playing with Adrien every time he comes over to even notice Felix glaring from one of his high perches around the house.
Marinette wants to build him a cat wall. Kagami wants to buy them all a whole house before they drill into a rented apartment wall. Marinette doesn't want to ask for such a huge investment from just Kagami until they're married. Kagami's response of: "Alright, then let's get married", leaves Marinette bright red and in a state of mania for three days.
They compromise on some renter friendly cat accomodations for now.

Every clue in every episode of Miraculous S6:
Climatiqueen:
The episode starts with Adrien seeing his social media and he watches a video of Chloe announcing she’s making a contest for her Bee community and whoever wins will get a book made by Max’s mom.
Chloe in this video says something interesting, that she can grant the wishes of everyone, doesn’t that sound familiar? That’s the same way Lila manipulates her akumatized victims as the new holder of the butterfly miraculous.
Chloe also said that Foxes, Turtles, Unicorns, Ponies and especially Ladybugs are not allowed in her contest, meaning she still hates Ladybug for not letting her be Queen Bee anymore.
I think this whole contest was a plan for Lila and Chloe knowing someone would get akumatized because of it, you have 100 people fighting against eachother to try to be the number one, of course someone would get akumatized if they lost or for the desperation of being the best, that’s such a smart move from both Lila and Chloe’s part.
We know that Aurore, the protagonist of this episode, is in Chloe’s competition, she wants to win because she wants that book, so she will do everything it takes to get it. Interesting, right? She starts doing the same thing Vincent does in Revelator, making rumors about Adrien and Marinette’s relationship, and painting Marinette as a posessive bad girlfriend while Adrien is the poor little victim of this relationship, then she gets akumatized and becomes one of the most powerful villains Lila has created, just like Vincent. There are so many coincidences between Vincent and Aurore, using Adrien and Marinette to boost their reputation and gain more followers, doing everything they can so they get likes and views, that’s exactly what Lila needs, and I believe Lila also did this plan with Chloe so she can know who is a great candidate to be on her team.
Aurore when she was talking with Chrysalis she said she actually didn’t care about the book, she only wanted followers and attention, meaning that everything she said and did after being de-akumatized could be a lie.
We see Vincent and Aurore spying on Adrienette in this episode too, who else is spying them in the next episode? Lila.
We also see Sublime at the end of the episode running along with Adrien, I don’t know what this could mean but the fact she just appeared out of nowhere makes me very suspicious. I believe one of Lila’s plans are making Adrien and Marinette break up and Sublime could be part of that scheme being very aware of it or not being aware at all.
Ilustrhater:
This episode starts with Marinette and Alya trying to figure out who is the new “Hawk Moth”, Marinette mentions they know nothing about this person. Well, we actually find out a lot about this new holder in this episode.
She’s spying Adrien and Marinette very hard, we saw Lila two times this episode. The first time is when she rejects/ignores Maya’s drawings and we only see her hand.
The second time is when at the end of the episode, she’s writing in her notebook everything she noticed in Marinette and Adrien’s date and how she will use this against them. We also see her clothes, and she says to herself “You’ll know nothing about me. About us. About them” making it clear she has a team helping her. In the next episode is when we meet Sublime, her family, what it seems to be a guy spying them and we finally see Tomoe again.
She also mentions she’s a chameleon, and that’s actually very interesting, because the first episode of season 3 is called Chameleon, where Marinette almost gets akumatized because of Lila. In this episode the protagonist/the akumatized victim was Maya, a little girl who looks a LOT like Marinette.
Sublimation:
This is probably the episode with the most obvious clues.
Sublimation starts with Marinette spying on Sublime and Adrien running in the morning, so she follows Sublime everywhere to find out her intentions with Adrien. Marinette as Ladybug does something to Sublime, she breaks her prothesis, and that causes Sublime’s mom, Caroline’s akumatization. Marinette does the same thing in Volpina, when Lila arrives to school she already is telling lies and gets very close to Adrien, that makes Marinette freak out so she starts following Lila everywhere, Marinette was so jealous of the fact Lila was hanging out with Adrien and couldn’t take it anymore so she transformed into Ladybug, humillated Lila in front of Adrien exposing her as a Liar, causing Lila to get akumatized.
Everyone who hates or hated Ladybug were once hurt by her: Lila in Volpina, Chloe in Miracle Queen, Sublime’s mom in Sublimaton, I think that’s a clue that Sublime and her family could end up on Lila’s side/team, especially after making a deal with Tomoe who is also against Ladybug.
Tomoe at the end of the episode smiles for some reason after Sublime and her family left her house, meaning she’s planning something and they’re part of her scheme.
We also see someone spying Ladybug and Sublime in her trial, but they don’t look like Lila, they actually look very different from her, this actually looks like a guy, so who could this person be?
I have two options: Nino’s brother, Chris or Vincent Aza.
Let’s start with the most popular theory: Chris
In the episode Timetigger we meet Nino’s brother as a teenager, he gets akumatized by the future holder of the Butterfly Miraculous, in this episode we get the first clue of the new Hawk Moth, said by Chris/Timetigger while talking to Gabriel, saying that he was sent by the Hawk Moth from the future, but he never said it was Gabriel.
At the end of the episode we see Lila babysitting Alya’s little twin sisters and Nino’s little brother. We see how Chris while talking to Lila he develops a small crush for her.
At the end of the season 5 finale, we see how something or someone visited Lila/Cerise, making her feel very scared, many people think it could be Chris especially after seeing a guy with darker skin tone doing the same thing Lila does, stalking.
When I talk about Revelator I will say the reasons Vincent could be this guy and not Chris.
Daddycop:
This episode starts with Sabrina crying because she and Chloe aren’t friends anymore while watching a video of Chloe saying she got betrayed by someone, referring to Sabrina, this whole episode was the build up for the akumatization of Sabrina that at the end didn’t happen.
This may sound insane, but how convenient is that Chloe throws that obvious indirect for Sabrina knowing that she could see it, Sabrina gets all sad and depressed because of it, she’s ignored by everyone in school and what completely breaks Sabrina is that Marinette made her feel horrible after all the things she said to her, so Lila decides to akumatize her? Of course I’m not saying everyone else is involved with this, but it looks like this could have been another plan from Lila and Chloe so Sabrina gets akumatized.
It looks like Lila is going after people who were “hurt” by Marinette or Ladybug so she can akumatize them: Maya (since Marinette ignored her like many others when she wanted to show her drawings), Caroline (Ladybug is the one responsible for what happened to Sublime in Sublimation), Sabrina (Everything Marinette said to her almost got her akumatized), Roger (because her daughter felt bad after everything Marinette said he got akumatized because of it) and Vincent (in his twisted mind, it’s Marinette’s fault he lost all his followers, views and everything he had because Alya, Marinette’s best friend exposed him).
We also get clues from Zoe’s past, when Zoe tells Sabrina in the library that Marinette invited her to the slumber party, Sabrina hugs her and says she’s a great girl just like Marinette, but Zoe feels guilty after Sabrina says this.
At the end of the episode, we met a new character named Ray, who is from Zoe’s old school, he has a secret and pics of Zoe’s and he’s blackmailing her because of it, Zoe doesn’t want this to get out because this would change the perception the others have of her (Ray was also part of Chloe’s competition).
Zoe’s situation is exactly like Marinette’s situation in this season, she has a huge secret she’s keeping from everyone and if this gets out to the public, everyone’s perception of her would change, and Lila knows about it, and she’s planning to use it so everyone turns against Ladybug.
Lila is stalking everyone, not just Marinette, if she finds out about this and knows Ray is blackmailing Zoe, she will use Ray so he gives her Zoe’s secret.
Werepapas:
This episode doesn’t give us any Lila clues but it gives us more information about Adrien’s family:
The episode starts hard with the writers showing us a flashbacks of Emilie with Adrien, it’s very clear that in the “Agreste-Graham” family there has always been a toxic environment, it didn’t started with Gabriel, and that was established in Representation, since Felix’s father was also very abusive.
In the flashback of Emilie she says that her parents don’t love her enough like they love other things and that’s why they never go visit them, after Emilie says this Adrien asks her mom if Gabriel doesn’t love him then, we also get a flashback of kid Adrien at the end of the episode showing us how Gabriel just ignores him when Adrien wants to spend time with him making it clear that Gabriel was always distant with Adrien, it was never because of his mother’s death.
We can see how different Adrien’s grandparents are from both sides, Emilie’s father, Emil, is a very strict man who follows the traditional roles and the family’s traditions, Emil’s behavior is what influenced Gabriel to end up the way he did, being obsessed with power and control exactly like Emil. These two see Milly and Adrien as things, since both Gabriel and Emil are very abusive with them.
Emil wanting to have the twin rings back was symbolism for wanting to control Adrien’s life, exactly how Gabriel used to. But this isn’t about Adrien only, this is also about Milly, who has been under Emil’s control over decades.
The fact Milly got akumatized after being so done of Emil’s abusive behavior is a reference of all the times Adrien got akumatized because he was in Gabriel’s control.
Ladybug destroyed the akumatized object that was the twin rings, the weird thing is that there was no amok in the rings, only the akuma, what could this mean? Those are not the real rings, someone else has the actual ones.
(I don’t believe anything Thomas is saying).
Revelator:
This episode starts with Vincent, who is a character that was first introduced to us in season 1 as a stalker fanboy of Jagget Stone and he got akumatized.
In this episode he makes fake rumors about Adrien and Marinette’s relationship, but he’s especially trying to ruin Marinette’s reputation while talking good things about Chloe. I believe Chloe was involved in everything that happened in this episode, especially after the pics of Marinetee’s with drawings on her face that Vincent posted reminded me a lot of when Chloe did the same thing in a drawing of Marinette that Nathaniel did back in Evillustrator.
It’s also revealed he’s being sponsored by Tomoe, which it’s interesting how characters like Chloe and Tomoe who hate or are against Ladybug are related to him.
He also tries to paint Gabriel Agreste as the real hero who saved Paris from Monarch and not Ladybug, this not only cleans Gabriel’s image, but it cleans Tomoe’s as well. He is exposed for being a liar by Alya, Marinette's best friend, and thanks to this, he loses everything he had once, getting akumatized into Revelator, who’s funtion is to reveal everyone’s secrets.
There’s this girl in the episode who starts yelling at Adrien and Marinette when they arrive to the cinema, this girl is wearing the same clothes Lila wore in Ilustrhater, and in the French dub the same voice actress of Lila plays this girl as well. This girl was waiting for them to get in the Cinema to start telling them stuff so this wasn’t out of nowhere, it was all planned.
We also got many clues about Chat Blanc:
Ladybug getting an eraser as a Lucky Charm in this episode exactly like in Chat Blanc.
Chat Noir got a power up in this episode that is similar to a mega cataclysm he made as Chat Blanc.
The Ice Cream Adrien and Marinette ate in Revelator having the same color scheme like Chat Blanc (which Sublime also holds in the endcard of Sublimation).
All of these are clues about what could happen when Adrien finds out the whole truth, losing the control over his emotions and becoming an easy pray for Lila.
Vincent’s skills of manipulating the public and his connections to someone as powerful as Tomoe makes him have the potential to be a great help to Tomoe and Lila in their plans, plus as an akumatized villain he is very powerful villain, shown in both Pixelator and Revelator.
He is desperate to get back to having the following and popularity he used to have, he would do anything to get it back, that would mean doing everything Tomoe or Lila ask him to do.
He could be the guy we saw spying on Sublime and her family in Sublimation, writing down any useful information about them that can be used against Ladybug.
Maybe that's why Tomoe was smiling, because Vincent told her everything he wrote, that's why she was interested in sponsoring them.
Lila needs someone to be able to spread all the lies Ladybug told with proof, and Vincent is desperate to get back everything he lost, so he wouldn't refuse to post something as juicy like everything Ladybug is hiding.
Since the season started, the people in the Miraculous universe are portraying Marinette as a bad influence for Adrien, making her the villain of Adrien’s life. Revelator is the most obvious example of what I’m talking about but the whole season keeps that theme, making Marinette do poor choices to the point her own Lucky Charm called her a villain, I believe all of this is foreshadowing of how the public will react when Lila reveals everything, or if Marinette gets akumatized, or both.

AU where Nino doesn’t fall in love with Alya over one afternoon but rather he does so gradually so Adrien thinks he still has a crush on Marinette, BUT through some cursed miraculous-esque misunderstanding Adrien thinks Marinette likes Nino too only that she doesn’t want him to know but of course just like in canon she’s got it crazy for Adrien only she can’t tell Adrien she doesn’t actually have feelings for Nino BECAUSEEE she’s convinced he only talks to her to scheme and discuss her eventual confession to Nino AND AND ANDDDD at some point whilst trying and failing to confess to Adrien that she isn’t actually in love with Nino she causes him to think that she’s now in love with Alya instead—it gets to the point where when Alya and Nino DO start dating she begs them to keep it a secret from Adrien who will be heartbroken thinking the two people she was once in love with and currently in love with are now together. She does not, at any point, realize that Adrien fell in love with her too and is now super heartbroken and in pain every time she discusses her supposed SUUUUUUPER huge and ultra bigggg crushes on Nino, and then Alya, respectively. yes the part in the show where she accidentally confesses to chat noir that she’s in love with him as marinette still happens and it makes it all way more confusing and complicated for Adrien

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Clearly, I've got one favorite episode after another! For Raoul, I'd already wondered what happened to criminals during the Hawkmoth threat. Were they kept in prison or placed outside Paris? And the Second Chance program shows that Ivan's father wants to take advantage of this program and is going to use his son for a robbery. And Ivan doesn't want to do it, leaving a letter for his father. And of course, his father takes it badly and is akumatized. Ivan loves his father, but on the other hand, he's afraid of becoming like him. And understandably so: his feelings are complex and difficult to deal with, especially for a teenager his age. But his love for his father and his refusal to take part in his schemes are not incompatible. And his relationship with his father contrasts with Adrien's, who believes his father is a hero. Ivan knows that his father is not a good person, but wants to reconnect with him on his own terms.
That's why the scene where he confronts his father is so effective. This time, he can counterattack with the help of Ladybug and Chat Noir. And as Minotaurox, he shows that his son was stronger than he was. Taking back the letter, Raoul decides to make an effort for his son. And he'd better not go back on his word, or he could very well lose his son forever! As for Adrien, we can see that Gabriel wasn't an abusive father from the start. He liked to make his son laugh, but when Emilie fell ill! He started to change and Adrien can't understand it.
Besides, Gabriel had left a letter, and this letter shows that he doesn't really understand his son. He just has an image of the “ideal” and “perfect” son that Adrien should follow. But it's precisely Adrien who has been able to move forward in mourning his mother, something Gabriel has not been able to do. Even towards the end of s5, he chooses to die with Emilie rather than face the consequences of his actions. And Marinette, at first, wonders with Nathalie whether they should destroy the letter. But when she sees Adrien's questions, she prefers to hide it. So at first sight, it's a bit nasty! But when you think about it for a second, it makes sense: Marinette wants the best for Adrien. Nathalie wants to protect her son by destroying the letter. When Marinette sees it, she thinks it's best to keep it a secret. Something that comes back in Revelator when she says it's a “cruel truth”! She thinks it will make Adrien suffer less. But she doesn't realize that Adrien is suffering because of her lie. The message of this episode is clear: it's scary to face the truth, but it's important to do so in order to grow up. And he says this by looking at Adrien. Which is quite similar to what Alya said about the truth being necessary to build yourself up!
As for the council, I don't see the point of Nathalie betraying Marinette. She has nothing to gain by doing that but since she was Gabriel's assistant. Now she's stuck and has to take over. And the council knows that Ladybug has now lied, and it's likely that they'll join forces with Chrysalis to get the miraculous back from Ladybug and Chat Noir.

I actually meant to ask about the one where Lila gets the Ladybug Miraculous, I wanted to save the serial killer for tomorrow... And I added a "future" for some reason, causing confusion.
Well then, I'll ask about the Lilabug & Marinette AU now.
Oh sorry, sorry! I thought you asked abt the serial killer Au! My bad! So, the Lilabug Au! Basically it's what it says on the tin! Lila arrives in Paris early, and Fu comes across her while searching for compatible Miraculous Holders. The reason why he senses her is because Lila would be an excellent Fox, but Fu can't tell specifically which Miraculous she has affinity with. So he pulls his scheme with Truck-Kun, and Lila saves his life. Because you know, there's people recording the damn incident and she wants fame!
Also, Lila is extremely (read: canon levels) cynical in this Au, and generally abhorbs being around other human beings. Sure, she'll play the happy-go-lucky new girl from Italy and smile sweetly at people all day, but she secretly hates every second of it. Anyway, Lila will later find a pair of magic earrings in her bag because she wanted to go viral. Is this Fu Bashing for picking that testing method out of every option? Sure. Will I salt the man? Nah, we have yuri to write!
Anyway, the rest of Origins goes normally, except Lila is also there, sweet-talking her way into sitting at the back of the class and away from all these weirdos. This will be important later. Anyway, Chloe bla blas about Adrien, gum on the seat, etc. Then Stoneheart happens, which also paints a big target on Marinette's back as the local goody-two-shoes! Lila doesn't plan to bully her though, no no. Being her friend is the better option, because she doesn't think Marinette will have the spine to accuse her of lying then. Totally not for the free bakery sweets!
Anyway, Stoneheart! Paris' resident furry is right on cue, and Lila gets an unwanted moral compass in the form of adorable Eldritch Deity! Tikki absolutely hates her btw, since Lila doesn't create anything of her own except lies. Still, they have a city to save and once our beloved Kwami pulls out the "people will love you if you save them" card, Lila's sold! Say less, she's already suiting up!
I'm giving her a more stylish outfit too, think black boots and gloves, as well as actual linings to separate different parts of the suit with some inverted coloring on the sides. Because Lila Rossi is nothing if not fashionable! Anyway, a cat boy falls out of the sky while she's learning how to rip off Spider-Man! One introduction later, Lila sticks with the name Ladybug because why the hell not? She'd have gone with the Italian word, but that's a dead giveaway. Generic means less clues to her identity.
Now, she puts on a great show for the cameras! If Chat hadn't heard her mutter insults about everyone not running for their lives, he'd be impressed! Alya gets saved from that overdramatic car flip, Ladyblog becomes a thing later, and Stoneheart gets absolutely destroyed because Lila is just as smart as Marinette! A bit more straightforward and "I'm going to rip you yo pieces with a spoon if need be"...but very intelligent! Chloe gets saved, Lila feels the urge to psychologically damage her someday soon, and she and Chat find a second to talk after the whole "as long as we're here Hawkmoth can't get you" speech.
Reminder that Adrien has been surrounded by actors and performers his whole life, so he sniffs out Lila's true intentions instantly. Still, she isn't immediately hostile to him. They talk, and decide that since they're the superheroes now, and Paris needs saving from a mentally ill mothman with a midlife crisis, they'll work together. Chat warns her that he won't let her abuse her Miraculous' powers, and Lila promises she isn't going to. Ladybug's reputation as this city's only hope needs to remean clean, after all!
The rest of Origins happens the same, umbrella scene included, and Fu is very proud of himself for making such good choices! Lila also decides to befriend Alya because a blog dedicated to Ladybug is 1) a great publicity stunt she will gladly abuse, and 2) this idiot needs to be kept in check, lest Alya accidentally connects the dots some day. Therefore, we now have the Core 5, consisting of Marinette (reluctant friends with Lila), Adrien (empathetic to the other new kids and thinking her confidence is cool), Nino (music provider), Alya (unhinged conspiracy theorist), and Lila (local lying machine). What a wonderful group of dumbasses! I'm sure everything will be fine!
Most of Season 1 stays the same, with Chat and Ladybug coming to an understanding that the other isn't actually so bad, and Lila secretly liking his stupid puns. No romance for obvious reasons, but Chat is why she slowly starts to open up a bit more in her civilian life. Lila still doesn't care about these people, but Chloe annoys her and Marinette is useful either as a distraction or a help when it comes to getting back at the Queen B. Plus Alya's incresingly ridiculous theories are generating so much popularity for Ladybug that the least Lila can do is listen to the yapping once in a while. She'd still kick them off a cliff just to "save" them for clicks, but her "friends" are at least not on the target list.
Actually, Lila doesn't really try to maliciously manipulate almost anyone here, because she's taken a different approach. The people in her class inexicably seem to have connections with famous artists, chiefs and whatnot, so keeping up the innocent facade is working better for Lila than herding them around like sheep! At this rate, one of these drains on her social battery might prove to be Jagged Stone's secret love child or something! She wants to be in people's good graces!
Due to all of this, her lies are kept relatively minimal and somewhat provable. Besides, most of her deception skills are busy keeping both Ladybug's identity a secret, and the heroic, dauntless persona up for the cameras. Many Akuma are roundhouse-kicked, uppercutted, and defenestrated, but Paris still loves Ladybug (and Chat Noir)! Surprisingly, Lila is actually willing to give him credit where it's due, since she thinks he operates similar to her, with how Adrien poses for the cameras and shoots out witty puns. Just that Chat has a Morality Stick somewhere behind his tail.
Things stay relatively the same until Evillustrator, where Lila's lack of understanding about so-called "normal people" puts her in a Situation. Chloe still exposes Nath's drawings of Marinette, and Lila cannot for the life of her understand the concept of a crush. Physical attraction, she gets. Attraction to someone's status or wealth? Of course! Heck, the free things Adrien usually treats their friend group over are half the reason she's nice to him! Social obligations regarding politeness? Completely comprehendable. But a crush? It just doesn't compute.
An Akuma gets yeeted out of Gabriel's attic, Nathaniel gets butterflied, yada yada. When Ladybug goes to check on Chloe however...the blonde is overjoyed to have her idol visiting her! Lila takes this opportunity to shake some rust off her insults for a bit, and spends the entire time "recipricating" the excitment, with backhanded compliments to boot. Chloe...feels very weird about the experience afterwards, and doesn't understand why. Lila is very proud of herself, and gets yelled at by Tikki later.
Meanwhile, Marinette is actually there when Sabrina shows up and they begin doing the project thing together. Until Evillustrator shows up. Sabrina is terrified, but Marinette's like "Oh, you want to go on a date with me? Yeah sure, let me just change into a better outfit." Nathaniel is overjoyed, and Marinette takes that time to actually wear something nice, and also tell Sabrina to get the heroes ASAP! To her credit, she does so very quickly, and totes not because Chat Noir was looking for Marinette specifically.
Anyway, the boat ride is still the same. Marinette actually notices Hawkmoth hurting Nathaniel, deducing it might be possible to get him to reject the Akumatization somehow, and keeps him busy with a surprisingly enjoyable evening, all things considered. Chat calls in Ladybug, who tells him to stealth after them and wait until she gets there, dumps Chloe, and heads over there. Lila yoyos Nathaniel's sketchbook away, tossing it into he river, trips him and breaks the pen, undoing the damage, etc. It's important to note that since Sabrina was already there with Marinette before, Adrien didn't get to do his "cool introduction" as Chat.
Anyway, Marinette tells them what she noticed about the Akumatizations, and Lila keeps it in mind. After all, if there's one person in Paris who can psychoanalyze people so badly their mental health would improve, it's Lila Rossi! Ladybug dips to go recharge, and Chat starts fawning over how amazing Marinette was. To the girl in question. Adrien is a dork and I love him for it.
He also rants about Marinette to Ladybug, and Lila makes up her mind to pay her a visit as Paris' friendly neighbourhood superheroine. For now, Chat gives her a ride home, and the next day, Adrien has miraculously "heard about" what happened last night. This tips Lila off to his identity, but she decides to figure it out later. Surprisingly, Nathaniel is sitting in the back with her today, and Lila takes that chance to try and understand yesterday's debacle.
They strike up some conversation, and Lila slowly thinks about what Nathaniel is saying. She doesn't feel any of the things he describes to her, but she kind of gets it, if as a abstract concept. Now, Lila still doesn't really care about people, but decides to keep talking to Nathaniel since abruptly going quiet after asking so many pointed questions would be weird. The result? He ends their chat by exclaiming that he's not sure why she's being nice to him, but that's it's nice to have a friend. Lila is so stunned by the idea of friendship, she doesn't manage to correct him in time. She officially has her first friend, and no idea what to do about it. Tikki is laughing at her misery.
A lot more things happen in this Au, like the Collector tipping Lila off regarding Gabriel (which she doesn't share with Chat since he might be Adrien, and while his reaction would be telling, it's too much of a risk), and meeting Fu for the first time since Tikki doesn't get sick in Princess Frangrace here. Needless to say, Lila is very tempted to steal that box full of magical jewels! She behaves, but does slowly begin to loan them out through Season 2. Marinette gets the fox on Sapotis, because Lila would sooner reveal her identity to Hawkmoth than trust Alya of all people to be a responsible superhero.
She and Marinette have been bonding a bit (over their mutual dislike of Gabriel), and Lila is slowly learning how to make friends as herself, while resisting the urge to slingshot stupid civilians off a building with her yoyo. She specifically hates Mr Ramier for getting Akumatized so many times, and repeatedly calls Hawkmoth a tasteless, unoriginal failure of a villain. Gabriel takes extreme offense to this.
Anyway, I'm going to stop here for now because I've been typing for a bit too long. You or anyone else is free to send me questions any time, and thanks a bunch for the ask martiya! Marinette is getting her superhero romance with this one, and ends up being the only person aside from Chat that Lila feels safe to be bitchy and snarky with as Ladybug. Ahh, toxic yuri my beloved! Marinette can totally fix her btw.

Granted, tumblr’s search function may broken but I can’t find a post on your blog centered on Alya’s writing. As a person constantly on the look out for critical examination of Alya’s role in the narrative and the compromises on her principles, relationships and competences made to artificially engineer the episode’s story, I’d be very interested to see your thoughts
I use Alya's writing as an example of a character done dirty all the time, but I don't think I've ever done a sugar post focused on her and I totally should. Before we get into it, I will openly admit that her bad writing bothers me more than Marinette's or Adrien's because she is best girl and we stan her. What can I say, I'm a writer whose best friend is an artist with a diagnosed anxiety disorder. I like characters who are writers and with artsy, anxiety-ridden best friends. They are my people and that gives us a great starting point for this post.
Marinette is the unambiguous main character of the show, so it makes sense to design both her hero partner and her best friend around balancing her out, giving them strengths to fill out the spots where she is weak. It's how you make a strong cast. When Alya is allowed the shine, she fills that balance role wonderfully and I love it! Some of my favorite moments are when Marinette goes on one of her rants and cool-headed Alya drags her back down to Earth:
Marinette: We're gonna stroll over there real cool as if we just happened to be passing by. Alya: Then what? Marinette: Then? I'll invite him out for a fruit smoothie at the end of the photo shoot! Then, we'll get married! Live happily ever after in a beautiful house and have two kids? No, three. And a dog! Maybe a cat? Nah, forget the cat. A hamster! I love hamsters! Alya: Let's just start with just happen to be passing by and see if we can get to that smoothie.
This banter from Stormy Weather is fantastic. It's exactly the type of thing I want to see from these two as it gives Alya a very different flavor of supporting role from Adrien. While Alya and Adrien are both card holding members of the Marinette hype squad, Alya is more of a voice of reason while Adrien is there to validate Marinette and follow her crazy schemes without question.
This brings us to the first issue with Alya's writing: when the plot demands it, they make her a gullible tabloid journalist even though it goes against everything her character should stand for. The reasons I'm comfortable saying this are many. The first one is that Alya is very clearly supposed to be seen as a serious journalist. That's why you get scenes like this one from Feast:
Alya: Now you know back in the day sculptures were painted, right? Most of the paint vanished over time, but tiny microscopic pigments still remain. Thanks to this special app, witness how it originally looked. But here's the big thing. All these works of art have something in common. It's the same symbol! Look, everywhere. It's like some kind of secret society emblem. As if a kind of Order of the Guardians has been watching over the superheroes since the beginning of time!
This scene would not exist if Alya was supposed to be the kind of person who only cared about getting blog hits because this type of content isn't where the money is. But money and clout aren't what Alya cares about. She's just a passionate reporter (or fan girl) who wants to know everything she can and who is having fun sharing her obsession with the world. This is an extremely important aspect of her character because it brings us to reason two that she clearly wasn't meant to be a clout chaser: if she was a tabloid journalist who only cared about hits, then she should have never been given a miraculous.
I could go on a rant her about how poorly Alya's blog is used after she becomes Rena Rouge, but I'll spare you the word count and just say that, as soon as she joined the team, she should have stopped sharing secrets on the blog. It makes sense that a blog would initially fill her need to share the fine details of her obsession, but once she's on the team, the blog should have been replaced by her teammates. She could still have the blog, but it shouldn't have things like the freaking guide to how the miraculous work that we see in the season four episode Gabriel Agreste:
Alya: The Miraculous are magical jewels that give powers to superheroes, like Ladybug's earrings and Cat Noir's ring. But supervillain Shadow Moth also has two Miraculousbrooches in his possession, and they will give him his powers. We can figure out from this that the Miraculous can either make a superhero or a supervillain. It's all riding on who wears it, which is why these jewels can't fall into just anybody's hands.
Alya, you are supposed to be Marinette's sole confidante at this point. Why are you giving the world this information? The writers are doing you dirty, my dear, and I'm so sorry. The best I can do is to promise to never treat you like this in my stuff.
Now, to be fair, there is some nuance to this. Alya is a human being. She's allowed to have flaws, so I can absolutely forgive her for getting caught up in the moment and posting scoops to her blog without thinking (see: Oblivio). That's honestly a great weakness for her character to have as it makes perfect sense for a fan girl to fan girl. At the same time, if you want to have a fan girl character who becomes part of the things she's a fan of, then you usually need to give that character something that will tone them down and make full fan girl mode something other than the standard setting.
Making your fan girl a serious reporter is a great way to do that! It allows you to have that initial bust of fan girl hype that quickly switches into serious get-the-details mode. Without that kind of complexity, Alya would just be another Wayhem and one Wayhem is already one too many.
While I will give Alya some grace on this topic and even call it a good thing for her character, the same cannot be said for her writing because the writers fail to embrace her hype as an in-the-moment weakness and it ruins her character. To put it another way, a lapse in judgement about posting a photo is excusable as a photo is quickly acquired and posted. A lapse in judgement about a full interview with a total rando who is claiming to be Ladybug's best friend is not excusable (see: Volpina). It's a completely different flavor of poor judgement as - at a minimum - it requires Alya to stand there talking to a person for several minutes and never once question what that person is saying. Those are not the behaviors of a good journalist.
Of course, this brings us to the most glaring example of Alya's character assassination: the Lila thing. Almost everything about this arc paints Alya as a terrible friend, which is a massive missed opportunity as Lila is the perfect antagonist for Alya! Who better to take down a liar than a truth seeker? It's such an easy way to give Alya her own mission to focus on, especially if you make Lila more subtle. You don't even need to have Alya believe Marinette without question. Just have her be an investigative journalist who is like, "You know what, this new girl clearly bothers Marinette and I know Marinette can get caught up in her own head, but it doesn't usually last this long. I think something is up, so I'm going to use my skills to see if Lila is telling the truth that way I know if I'm supporting the right person here." Don't have your character claim that she checks her sources and does research if you're going to turn around and have her believe whatever she hears without checking any of it!
Even outside of the Lila thing, I wish we saw more of Alya's research skills! They were such a good thing to give Marinette's best friend as Marinette is great at focusing on a clear task, but research is the kind of thing that would overwhelm her, so it makes perfect sense to make her best friend a researcher as that lets the team have someone to help track down whatever Gabriel is calling himself this week. The writers even understood this to some extent as we saw in Mr. Pigeon 72:
Alya: Marinette, how long have you been working on this? Ladybug: I dunno, six-seven days, maybe ten. Now that we're on spring break, I finally have time to put my whole heart into it! Alya: When was the last time you worked on one of your own designs? Ladybug: I do loads of designing! Look! (pointing to the contraption at her door) I designed a security system so that nobody can enter my room when I'm not in it. And if I put on this hat (puts on modified hat) I hear everything that's going on in here, even when I'm out of the room. Alya: I'm gonna have to break it to you because I'm the only one who can. THIS IS TOTALLY INSANE! Girl, trust your BFF. When I'm researching something obsessively and I can't think of anything else, that's when my mind can get really blocked. You know what you need most right now? A break! Ladybug: No way! No breaks until I find out how to keep Shadow Moth from reakumatizing people!
Remember who ultimately figures out how to keep Shadow Moth from reakumatizing people in this episode? Alya! Because her creative style is all about researching and looking at the evidence. You know, the classic skill set of a reporter?
I really do mean it when I say that the show has a fantastic setup for telling a good story. Alya's character should have been a perfect addition to Marinette's team. My favorite lineup is the line up from season two with Kagami and Luka in non-love-interest bonus roles that I won't get into here since it's a little too deviant from canon to make sense without explanation. Instead, I'll just give you the clear roles they perfectly set up and then squandered for the original miraculous five:
Ladybug: Battlefield commander
Rena Rouge: Big Picture Strategist (basically Marinette excels at reactive thinking/leading during a battle while Alya excels more at proactive thinking/long-term tactics)
Chat Noir: Peacekeeper/Heart/Hype Man
Carapace: Protector/Stop Button (much like Alya and Marinette, Nino and Adrien should have been two sides of the same coin with Adrien being focused on making everyone happy while Nino focuses on keeping everyone safe)
Queen Bee: Wild Card/Chaos Element (I love a good chaos element who is there to suggest the options that won't occur to people who have been raised to follow the rules.)
I'll also point out that this lineup would show that the characters weren't interchangeable and make the two main couples feel more unique and meant for each other. For example, Nino's tendency to encourage others to stay safe would pair terribly with Marinette's need to not get too caught up in her own thoughts. The second Nino second guesses one of her plans she'd fall apart, so she needs Adrien to be her Chat Noir. Similarly, Alya's impulsivity weakness would make her a terrible match for go, go, go Hype Noir! She needs a partner who makes her take two seconds to second guess herself. There was so much potential here you guys! So much potential! It could have been beautiful! Instead, we got canon...
There you go, my broad love letter to Alya. I could keep going, but you didn't request a specific topic, so I'm just going to end it there. Feel free to ask for more, but please do it in another ask as this is already super long and - out of kindness to my followers- I try to avoid essay after essay on the same post unless they really need to be connected.

More Miss Mouser au!
Tumblr media
Archelona is here to join the heroes' side! Still swapping some heroes around, so Alya and Nino are up next. I'm not completely satisfied with her colour scheme yet, but I'll change it accordingly when I figure out what I don't like about it. And Nino and Alya are siblings in this au because I apparently like them with a sibling dynamic more lol
Alya has been working in the same 4-star restaurant since she finished her culinary degree. She's sharing an apartment with her brother Nino, and her life has been perfectly unassuming until she got mixed up in a murder case investigated by the legendary Detective Roux. After successfully clearing her name, she was contacted by a mysterious creature, which gave her the power to assist Detective Roux on a mission to clear the streets of Paris from criminal activity, supernatural or otherwise.

Everyone's understandably (and rightfully) pissed about Marinette basically convincing Adrien that being locked in a rubber room by his abusive parent was "for his own good" (And that she's also lying to Alya about what went down GIRL WHY????), But my personal issue aside from that is why the hell she also covered for Tomoe by claiming she was also blackmailed? Yeah, Kagami wants to "redeem her" (Which I'll, reluctantly, accept) and asked she not be jailed, but I doubt she'd care much about her mother's crimes being public knowledge - or at least knowledge to a fellow victim of her scheme. Marinette has zero reason to portray her as a "helpless accomplice" of Hawkmoth's terror in that story she fed him and just said "Yeah, Tomoe helped Hawkmoth - but Kagami asked that I not send her to prison so she could rehabilitate her mother into being a better person herself, so I chose to respect her decision."

I need a reasonable person's opinion. Do you think the entirety of NYC Special is Marinette and Adrien cheating on their respective partners? Or others trying to get them to commit cheating? I've seen this take more than once, and I'm genuinely confused.
Tumblr media
Really rich coming from the crowd that has been begging them to cheat on each other as LadyNoir ever since Adrinette got together. I guess it's fine so long as Adrinette is the one crashing and burning 🙄🙄 but I digress.
I went back and watched the beginning of the NY special to be sure, and I think this encompasses the way the show handled the rival ships as a whole, not just in this special. Because at the start of the NY special, we have both Chat Noir and Marinette proclaiming that they've both moved on and accepted the fact that the person they're in love with just doesn't love them back/isn't meant to be. But it's glaringly obvious that they aren't over each other throughout the special. And in Marinette's case, her friends knew as much and had an oh, you're over him? Riiiight 😉 reaction because we also know that she wasn't. And this issue surrounding the rivals wasn't just isolated to the NY special, it was the entire premise of the rival ships. And I know the rival ship lovers will hate to see me say it, but the rival ships were only there to solidify to us that the love square is meant to be. There was literally an episode where the blue boy took Marinette on a date, and she kept calling him Adrien. When he got akumatized to try and learn her secret, everyone kept telling him she was in love with Adrien, and he was like yeah, no shit, I know. It was a well known fact, even to him, that Marinette was not over Adrien, and he clearly wasn't that upset about it. Cuck
Now, as for the NY special in particular, I'm sure you/the people with this take are referring to the way Marinette's friends schemed to shove them together on the trip. Marinette herself was in full denial mode and insistent on being his friend, and everyone could clearly tell she was in denial. I think their motives weren't intended to encourage cheating, but to force Marinette to confront her feelings rather than running away from them. Because it wasn't healthy, and they could tell she wasn't being truthful with herself, and subsequently, her boyfriend. In the end, when Alya encourages Marinette to chase after Adrien, it's Alya pushing Marinette to accept that she isn't over him and decide whether she's going to do anything about it. Is she ready to let him go truly? Or is she only hurting herself more by pretending she is and letting go of something that could make her happy? It wasn't about the blue boy, or even Adrien really. It was about Marinette being honest with herself. It's fine for her to admit she isn't over Adrien. But refusing to admit she wasn't was hurting her, and inadvertently him too. In that scene, Adrien wanted to stay with his friends, but Marinette let him go because she was so far in denial and insistent that they were just friends. And in that insistence, she didn't want it to seem like she liked him, so she didn't ask him to stay, which hurt both of them. That's why Alya pushed her to decide.
As for did cheating actually occur? No. Both were very much in a friendzone, even a forced one, the whole trip. And their rival relationships weren't brought up the entire time either. There was no "oh no, I can't be into him because I'm with the blue boy now" or "oh, Adrien is in a relationship, I'm going to respect that" it was strictly Marinette just outright stating she wasn't into him anymore because she decided it wasn't going to happen because of her numerous failed attempts at pursuing him. She was trying to convince herself and her friends that she was moving on, but the truth of the matter was that she wasn't. And they knew. And I could see two motives for them pressing her like they did. 1. To prove to her that she wasn't over Adrien in order to get her to confront those feelings properly either by breaking things off with blue boy and actually pursuing Adrien or properly dealing with them so she can actually move on, or 2. Letting her prove that she was actually over him and getting past that barrier so they can actually be friends like she was insisting. (But let's be for real they knew it was the first one).
All in all, her friends just wanted her to be happy. She's been a hot mess the entire time, and now she was giving up entirely without even knowing how he felt about her. Because, mind you, she never once confessed to Adrien prior to that. She just gave up and was like oh, I'll go be with this person because I can't seem to muster up the courage to tell Adrien. Which is a shitty excuse to be with someone and was unfair to the blue boy too. That's why their relationship crashed and burned too. Same with Adrigami. Neither one was really over their first love, something both rivals came to realize. They were destined to fail, which wasn't isolated to just the NY special. I feel like cheating is a hand-wavy argument at best because no cheating actually happened, and the motive behind everyone's actions wasn't to cheat, it was to stop denying the truth. And the rival ships broke up the literal next episode after that for other reasons so 🤷‍♀️ And funnily enough those episodes are titled Truth and Lies because the truth of the matter was, they were both lying to themselves. (And subsequently their partners)
I guess tldr, no, they didn't cheat, and anyone insisting that they did is probably just bitter the rival ships only lasted half an episode. I wouldn't let it bother you.

Many people said "CN is not a good fighter' and I just realized how the narrative really make it looks like that's really the case despite of him being supposed to be a fencer champion and know martial arts and I was?? Baffled?? He even beaten by Scarabella despite being more experienced in fighting than Alya?? Either this show favor the girls more to the point it want to show that boys are incompetent or the boys are really incompetent in universe idk
---
The Scarabella thing is a combination of three things, at least, in my view, and some are problems that were always there, while others relate more to the retool. 1) The writers are pushing this being a girl power show so the girls always have to be smarter and stronger than the guys. You can see a bit of this in the preretool show where the boy classmates are, to be frank, already depicted as a bit more stupid than the girl classmates. Compare what the boys get up to when they gather together (throw a frat party) with what the girls get up to when they gather together (fashion shows, planting trees, hatching get Adrien quick schemes). 2) Cat Noir/Adrien is too popular so his role in episodes and importance to the narrative have to be diminished as much as they can while still keeping him around enough for his toys to sell. I’m actually starting to think “and Cat Noir” was a purposeful decision to make the show more marketable that Astruc then didn’t want to commit to. 3) Ladybug has to be the greatest at everything ever, regardless who is being Ladybug at the moment. Ladybug can’t lose to Cat Noir because she’s the better/more important/stronger hero.
Please ignore how Ladybug’s “fighting ability” in most episodes with actual villains is running away while Cat Noir fights them head on. Please ignore how Ladybug’s strategy for physically strong or fighter type Akumas is to have Cat Noir fight them while she comes up with a plan. Please ignore every single time there’s a horde of enemies, outside of Rena Rouge’s introduction episode, where Cat Noir was worfed to make her entrance more impressive when she saves him (wow look, another pattern), Cat Noir is the one who takes them out. Please ignore how Cat Noir utterly destroyed Miracle Queen’s elite fighting force with the most broken superpowers at their disposal.
Like, before I was done with the show and fandom, I tried to avoid saying I think Cat Noir is the better fighter. I said it was a “matter of taste” instead of “Ladybug gets handed the most important powers and the writers obviously favor her and her fighting style so this comparison is incredibly unfair on Cat Noir”. But, even then, I have always thought that Cat Noir’s fight scenes are just more often actual fights versus Ladybug’s super planning skills making her the most important character ever. Miraculous leans into trickery in fights, because that’s Marinette’s strength and lets her be “the best in a fight”, but in terms of actual fighting ability, Cat Noir just shows more actual moves and strength and tactical thinking in a moment. In a battle shounen series, Adrien would be the better fighter, and Marinette would go through a training arc before she can best him.
We also have a bunch of evidence that Cat Noir is physically stronger than Ladybug from the OG show, but I could never say that straight-up, because, even before the retool made discussing this show into a minefield, Marinette stans were a fucking annoyance on the fandom who’d dogpile anyone who said anything that could be construed as “Marinette salt”, like, “I think Cat Noir is physically stronger and her wins are based on strategy and not strength”. The reason this statement would rub people the wrong way is because Marinette is always needed for the win condition, so she has to be better, even though Sailor Moon is the worst fighter among the Sailor Scouts and still has the purification powers. There’s also the sexisim of the girl character needing trickery to win, while the guy wins in honest hand to hand more easily. After all, the Miraculous fandom’s logic is that pointing out obvious writer biases means you actually hold those biases.
In a fight between any type of Ladybug and Cat Noir, Cat Noir will lose because it’s Ladybug. In addition, the boys are provably depicted as more incompetent than the girls, especially when they're shown doing something side by side. But, if we look at actual fighting accomplishments, Cat Noir has more impressive fight scenes under his belt than Ladybug, because the people making this show are actually pretty sexist in what they actually show their girl characters doing.
