Say what you will about TNG s1 and s2, but I will still rewatch select episodes explicitly for Data and Geordi interacting and by interacting I do in fact mean being boyfriends.

I know the decision to have Julian's parents have him augmented was made on the fly but imo its pretty obvious from early on that Julian has Family Issues because he avoids talking about his family like the plague and I think they should've incorporated this into the Julian and Sisko dynamic right from early on because I think it would've made for some really compelling stories and moments and could've set up a REALLY interesting Julian and Jake dynamic which they kinda started to do but never fully went for

started watching TOS and then kirk and spock were reunited… watched the first three episodes of ds9 and caught up on lower decks and then garashir kissed on screen… guess this was a good year to get into star trek

After some poking around, it seems I am very much in the minority. But I still want to make my case.

I do not like what the Star Trek: Prodigy writers did with Wesley Crusher. To me, this is unrecognizable as the same character.

I understand that he is not going to be identical to the last time we saw him. He's spent the past fifteen years traveling through universes and timelines and experiencing unbelievable things. He is going to be different!

But it should still be congruous with the character we once knew. We should understand what events shaped him to become this way -- like we see with Janeway and Chakotay in this very show. That isn't what we get. When has Wesley ever been a wisecracking jokester? A manic prattler? A frequent reference-dropper? I can understand arguments that he's awkward due to not interacting with other people in so long, but this is so far beyond that.

I think the core problem is they didn't give him Wesley Crusher's personality. They gave him Wil Wheaton's. And Wheaton is somehow a worse actor as an adult than he was as a teenager, so his vocal performance is incredibly cringe-inducing. He over-inflects a lot of his lines, he often doesn't match the energy of the scene, he doesn't mesh with the other characters.

But when he was willing to leave Maj'el to die just to protect his plan... that's when I knew the writers fundamentally misunderstood the character. Because above all else, Wesley is kind. He cares about others and he's more than willing to risk himself to protect them. He wouldn't just refuse to help someone like that.

The writers didn't give any thought to what Wesley was like as a character. They just saw their chance to make a manic Doctor Who type character and threw Wil Wheaton in.
