On This Day: June 20 2019
Today in 2019, Sleep Token released the full audio for the first song on their first LP, Sundowning.
The collective slowly released all songs from their first album like singles, although they were not considered as such. This continued until the full album release on November 22 2019.

Produced by George Lever. Written and composed by Vessel and II.
It is noted that this song is revisited in Sleep Token's third album release, towards the end of the twelfth track. A callback, if you will, bringing the three album cycle full circle and to an end.

in turning divine we tangle endlessly like lovers entwined i know for the last time you will not be mine so give me the night
We are entangled in each other like lovers; we spend the nights like lovers do, even though that's not what we really are. So for now let's pretend and become one, until the dawn breaks and you're no longer with me.
Something I've been thinking about.

I was listening to the sleep token instrumentals and in The Night Does Not Belong To God i noticed for the first time that after 4:23 in the outro there is a voice yelling in the background, it sounds like a female voice shouting out to someone. The words are entirely indistinguishable to me but i love this detail, it makes it feel kinda familiar and close to home. Wondered if anyone else has noticed it?

On This Day: June 17 2019
Returning to 2019, the collective changed their profile photo as well as their cover/banner photo. This coincided with a teaser video posted to their Facebook page featuring the intro to The Night Does Not Belong To God and the runes for all the songs on their first album, Sundowning. Thus begins the lead up to the full album release in November 2019.

TNDNBTG
Sundowning
An old television screen turns on. The screen is black and what appears to be words written in white are displayed in the middle, but the picture is too fuzzy to read at first. There is a soft buzzing noise. An unseen hand slowly turns a dial until it becomes clear and the intro to TNDNBTG tunes in.
On the screen:
The Night Does Not Belong to God
The screen may still jump around a bit or have those weird glitches that old black and white movies do.
The viewer is taken into the television as the beginning of the song progresses.
Sleep (played by Vessel in his typical garb) is an actor in a silent movie. He's sitting alone, in a large mansion. For all its splendor, everything is awash in muted tones of black, white, and gray. Most importantly, Sleep is alone.
Shots of opulent rooms full of every collectible imaginable. Famous paintings, statues, etc.
Shots of a huge garden with a maze.
Shots of a throne that Sleep doesn't even bother to sit on.
He's in a regular office chair, looking out of an open window. The sun is setting, and as it does, things start to change.
It's still a silent film (besides the music in your head) but slowly everything becomes technicolor.
The mansion comes back to life as Sleep replays a million memories in every room. The moon is large, glowing, and ever present through the window in every single shot.
The infamous She/Her takes Sleep's hand. They dance. They laugh. They cry.
As the memories progress, a myriad of different types of clocks start filling up every room. At first they are just hanging on the wall as normal decorations. Eventually they over take the shots, piling up in corners, a hundred on one wall.
The moon gets smaller as well, becoming dimmer.
The color starts to fade, and so does She.
Eventually she is a ghost.
At the end, she kisses him on the cheek and dematerializes.
The sun has risen again. Sleep is alone.
He goes back to the same chair, back to the same open window. Waiting for the night to come again.
The viewer is taken back out of the television.
On the screen:
The night belongs to you.
Then credits:
Silent Man-
Writer-
Producer-
ETC
(All glitch between Vessel and Sleep)
