We know about how Ghost would react to your SSDF au but what about your original iteration tmnt: solar flare?

Idk if I should answer this since I have barely even TALKED about tmnt: solar glare on this blog. Let alone actually get the turtles ref sheets made. But on the other hand making Ghost suffer is very fun...

So Im doing it anyways

Putting it all under a read more because spoilers for a lot of major plot points in solar flare. If you dont wanna be spoiled dont look

You have been warned :)

The first thing Ghost would think is "How the shell are these kids not dead?" Because the turtles are absolute DANGER MAGNETS

These absolute idiots, on their first night being on the surface:

FOUGHT THE GODDAMN SHREDDER

NEARLY GOT KILLED BY THE SHREDDER

Got sent to the Spirit Realm

Got attacked by angry spirits

Accidentally CURSED themselves by messing with something they were absolutely not supposed to mess with

Barely escaped the Spirit Realm, now fully cursed

Accidently UNLEASHED dozens of angry spirits into New York

And to make matters worse they got discovered followed back home by a HUMAN (April)

That was NIGHT ONE

Ghost and his brothers were lucky, they only fought Mousers and the Purple Dragons on their first night

And it only gets worse

That curse I mentioned, it has pros and cons. The pros being that it can turn the boys into literal shadows, enhance their strength and speed, make them near completely invulnerable to attack, actually let them attack the previously untouchable spirits, (let then turn into giant shadow monsters), etc. The CONS on the other hand is that the curse is slowly KILLING THEM. Draining more and more of their energy, breaking their bodies a little more each time. And the more that the cool shadow abilities are used the faster the effects are, the worse they'll get and the longer they'll last. Yeah. Ghost would absolutely not have a good time with that. (And would most definitely devote as much time as he could to trying to create a cure or at least find a way to lessen the side effects)

Anyways then theres the matter of the Spirits running loose, very strong, very angry vengeful spirits. That cant be knocked out or killed, they have to be banished back to the Spirit Realm. Which is not at all an easy task. (And considering that the boys will at one point spend an entire WEEK fighting those ghostly fucks practically nonstop to the point that they dont even go back to the lair until they are literally about to pass out from sheer exhaustion...yeah not fun. Ghost might have to carry them all back home) And there's also the Shredder and his growing army of goons causing trouble. Point is Ghost is gonna have a REALLY hard time keeping the kids from constantly fighting for their lives against incredibly strong enemies instead of actually being kids. Poor Ghost

The constant stress and fear along is definitely straining the boys' relationships with each other.

Especially between Leo and Raph. The two closest siblings of the family. The ones that said they were twins and stood by that for their entire lives.

And now they're arguing practically all the time. Cant even go one mission without at least one argument. Leo making reckless plans thinking they'll work perfectly fine then panicking when things inevitably go south and Raph getting angry at him for "screwing up" only because Raph is absolutely TERRIFIED. And Ghost trying to be the mediator, but its hard when you have two incredibly stubborn sixteen year old boys at each other's throats. (Ghost is reminded of the many many Raph-Leo fights that his own Raphael and Leonardo used to have. Only somehow, these are worse.) It just escalates and escalates further and further until one night.

When Raph and Leo actually FIGHT each other.

And it ends when Raph full on quits the team and leaves. Leaves Leo alone on that rooftop, in the pouring rain. (Ghost will never forget that shocked, borderline horrified look on Leo's face as the reality and the guilt over what just happened sets in)

Raph doesnt come home.

Ghost thought he just needed time to cool off but he still doesnt come home. It gets to the point that he tracks the red clad turtle down.

Only to find him in the Footclan headquarters.

Raph had joined the Footclan because he was so tired of the fighting, the arguing.

(Obviously Ghost would go over there to try and break Raph out by any means necessary, even when Raph refuses to leave. He didnt want to join his family's biggest enemies but he was angry when he said yes and now he thinks he's in too deep to leave, even despite Ghost's attempts to reason with him)

Which leads to Leo to do something really, really, really stupid. Not saying what because major spoilers but it ends with him willingly offering himself up to be taken to another dimension in exchange for his family being spared the same fate.

What would happen to him there? Ghost doesnt know.

But that swirling white portal, his child being handcuffed and pushed through despite how hard everyone, Ghost included, is begging for this not to happen, no matter how hard he fights against his own restraints he cant free himself, it breaks something inside him.

All he can do is watch helplessly as Leo disappears into a portal, just like he did when he was sixteen himself, presumably to never be seen again.

Leo is gone for an entire month.

An entire of Ghost obsessively working on the portal with Donnie, trying so so hard to get it to work so they can find him. A month of trying to keep the family together and comfort his poor children who are falling apart at the seams. (Donnie doesnt sleep much anymore, trying so incredibly hard to get the portal working, even moreso than Ghost. Mikey teetering on the verge of a breakdown, going out with April and Casey to search for any signs of Leo every single night. Raph is consumed with guilt, it had been HIS fault that this whole mess happened, and now the poor boy is trying desperately to help his family while also trying to defect from the Footclan, which isnt easy.) A month of searching for the people that took Leo away, a month of hoping and praying that Leo was alright.

And then Leo comes home, with a white samurai rabbit in tow (Despite everything, Ghost finds it a little amusing that some things never change, even across dimensions)

He's different now. Quieter, not nearly as excited as he used to be. His arms and legs are completely wrapped up in black wrappings, up to the shoulder and upper thighs respectively. And he refuses to take the wrappings off. (He now has a slight limp on his right side, his brothers dont notice it but Ghost absolutely does.) And most importantly he refuses to talk about what happened when they were separated. Always saying "Its nothing." "I dont wanna talk about it." "There's nothing to talk about." "I'm fine."

Ghost is worried about him, obviously something happened. Something bad enough to turn the silly, dorky, hero-wannabe kid into this quiet, reclusive, guarded boy. Usagi knows as well but just says its not his story to tell.

Ghost tries to talk to him but every time he gets brushed off. (He did manage to figure out it somehow involved the Battle Nexus, from the tiny bits of information Leo shared. Though he highly doubts it was the same Battle Nexus he used to know) All he can do is provide comfort whenever Leo seeks him out, usually late at night and usually the result of a nightmare. (Which have become much much more frequent, only adding to Ghost's worry)

And unfortunately Leo is not the only one going through hell.

Because not long after Leo's return and Raph finally leaving the Footclan, Mikey gets captured. It would be bad enough if it was Shredder or the Krang. But it is so much worse and makes Ghost's blood run cold.

Mikey was captured by the EPF.

Ghost vividly remembers how a similar situation happened to him and his own Michelangelo. (How Mikey was almost dissected in front of him, how his own mid was torn apart for all the world to see. Bishop...)

The family hurriedly breaking into the EPF lab, hoping that they'll find Mikey in time.

They didnt.

Mikey wasnt as lucky as Ghost's Michelangelo.

Bishop, that sick twisted bitch, actually cut Mikey open.

Ghost's worst fear had been realized.

(Ghost never wants to see Mikey's bloody plastron and exposed ribcage ever again for as long as he lives. Watching his frantic heart gradually slow the more blood gushed out.)

And it only gets worse

Because Mikey, in a desperate last ditch effort to try and escape, he somehow activated a part of the curse that no one knew they had.

The ability to transform.

He had turned into a massive DRAGON made entirely of shadows (the only reason they knew it was him was because of the bright orange markings on the shadow dragon's body.)

And the dragon went on a rampage, obliterating the EPF lab including majority of the staff. (Unfortunately Bishop survived, which was a shame) and once the lab was destroyed it attacked New York, trying to tear everything apart in blind fear and panic. (Those terrified screeches will haunt Ghost for the rest of his life.)

It nearly killed them all trying to calm Mikey back down enough to get him home and stitched up. (And then clinging to Ghost like a scared koala for a very long time, not like Ghost can blame him.) And the worst part of this whole Dragon affair? Mikey cant CONTROL IT.

So that means the second his emotions get out of control, here comes the terrified dragon that will lash out at anyone perceived as a threat. (Which is anything that moves.)

And each time Mikey is beating himself up with immense guilt and fear that he will hurt the people he loves.

This is only the tip of the Solar Flare trauma train.

There will be more. (Raph and Donnie are gonna get their's too. So will April, Casey, and Splinter)

Other traumatic/weird events include:

Donnie getting kidnapped by Karai, which leads to April and their parents getting kidnapped. Which leads to April getting thrown off a building and Karai losing her entire arm. April is only 13 in this au btw so oh boy Karai better fucking run because once GHOST hears about that she might lose more than an arm.

Leo gets turned into a cat

Raph and Mikey get kidnapped by clowns

The boys get captured by an alien bounty hunter and taken to a completely different galaxy. Poor Ghost is gonna have an absolute heart attack.

The boys bring home a giant sea monster and keep it as a pet in the sewers. (They name it Jeffrey. Ghost left them alone for five minutes HOW DID THEY DO THIS?!?!)

Both RAPH AND LEO get thrown through the window in the Krang invasion. And Raph ends up in a coma (Leo already had his turn in a coma) Ghost having an absolute heart attack reliving this awful moment TWICE.

April's parents find out about the turtles (and later their paternal grandparents find out when the fam go to stay at their farmhouse)

The turtles are gonna be stuck in a timeloop for an entire month. (The entire month leading up to the Krang Invasion. They went from having a month to prevent it to only having a day and a half. Which is why the invasion happens.) Ghost will never forget that look of pure dread on his kids's faces when they looked up at the blood red sky filled with krangships. This is exactly what he didnt want to happen, his kids having to grow up too fast and get into problems far too big for them.

Also bonus: the turtles first meet Casey by literally RUNNING HIM OVER. The kids call Ghost frantically saying that they "accidently murdered someone what do we do?"

Poor Ghost, poor traumatized turtles

"He's.... breathing?" Casey asked. No one knew for sure what was going on, but it was easy to see. Right now, it just looked like Donnie was asleep, his chest slowly moving as he breathed. "Yeah, he just.... started moving. I saw his hand twitching earlier." Raph answered.

Leon took a couple of unsteady steps towards Donnie's bed, shaking as he took his hand. It was dead cold still and yet... after a while, Donnie gave his hand a squeeze, making Leo crack a smile. "Should've known he'd be too stubborn to die." he said with a weak chuckle.

Donnie could feel all his senses coming back. The problem was he'd gone from feeling nothing at all to all his senses coming back at once. Everything felt like far too much. He groaned and pulled his hand away, feeling like the touch was too much. He was starting to wake up more, and all the noises and feelings were already overwhelming. He opened his eyes just long enough to see everyone crowded around him and immediately shut them again, groaning. Normally, he would feel a panic attack coming when his heart started pounding, but now there was no pulse to do that for him, so the panic struck him when he didn't even know what was going on. He was just shaking and struggling to breathe without really knowing why, and usually, the pounding of his heart would drown out other noises, but without that, he could hear everything which only made it worse. He tried covering his ears, but when he touched his head, he immediately pulled his hands back, overwhelmed by every little sensation. Every noise, touch, and sight. Everything hurt. He heard Leo ordering everyone to leave the room, then some shuffling and clicks. The sound of machines being turned off to reduce the noise.... He cracked his eyes open again to watch. Leo was still there, turning the machines off in the med bay. It definitely made the room quieter. After that, Leo pulled a chair up and sat next to the bed, motioning for Donnie to breathe. He didn't say anything, just watched him with a soft yet stressed expression.

Donnie struggled a bit to calm his breathing. In fact, it took him about four whole minutes to fully calm down. After he did, his senses were a little more bearable. "Better?" Leo asked. There was that voice he'd missed so much. He nodded, wiping tears out of his eyes. "Sorry... for being so distant lately. You just scared me. I think I understand now, though." he explained, voice hushed just to keep the noise low for now. "What changed?" Donnie asked just barely above a whisper. His voice felt weak as if it wasn't all there. Leo swallowed hard, hands shaking. "You died." he answered. Donnie gaped at him. The words felt alien in his head as if he hadn't heard them before... he.... died?

Before he could fully process what that meant, the two turtles were startled by sudden shouting. "Guys! GUYS! I TOLD YOU. Ghosts are REAL!" A familiar voice cheered as the spectral form of Mikey glided into the room. He was transparent and glowing golden with wisps of light floating off his being like solar flares. He looked way too overjoyed for a ghost. Although the joy faded from his face when he saw the scene before him..... "Bad time?"

Character files 008: Jonathan Samuel Kent

Superboy is a young superhero who is the third & biological son of Superman, & the youngest brother of Conner & Christopher Kent aka Valor & Super Phantom. He is the hope of his team: (New) Young Justice.

Appearance: a young white man with black shaggy hair with a S curl in front, violet eyes, & freckles.

Outfit: a red & blue Superman pullover hoodie with a red cape with a yellow S just below the hood. He also has an alternate outfit where he wears his dad’s suit with the red trunks while wearing a denim jacket with a yellow S on the back. (Look at the concept art for Jon with the trunks outfit & picture a jacket on him, plus no cape)

Personality: Kind, sarcastic, sassy, emotional, energetic, smart.

Powers: due to him being the son of Superman, Jon has all the powers of a kryptonian: super strength, speed, durability, senses like x-ray vision, heat vision, super breath/freeze, flight, & a “new” ability called solar flare which allows him to expel solar energy from his body like a bomb. In my universe, half kryptonians are way weaker than regular kryptonians but they can have transforming powers to become potentially stronger than pure ones; superboy gains red/orange spiky glowing hair that increases his powers & have the ability to shoot solar energy out of his hands & transmit it into swords & guns for extra damage. (& for the giggles, yes he can shoot it out of his butt & front area XD)

Trivia/FunFacts

He loves baseball; he’s on his middle schools baseball team and his favorite baseball movies are The Sandlot & benchwarmers (his favorite moment is the infamous beef stew scene.)

A fan of Star Wars, his favorite is Han Solo & prefers originals than prequels (he likes both but prefers originals more)

A tmnt world base on dreams and reality~ Goodnight TMNT is base on two worlds- Reality- a dystopia world the world exposed to a solar flare that broke the ozone layer now the Earth is over heated and unliveable everyone lives under the world crust to survive Dream- Utopia, at the age of 13 Hamato's are able to go to the land of dreams with their ninpo being ludic enough to travel through the realm to help those out of nightmare situations. Inspired by @ashwii and their Celestial TMNT AU, I wanted to take a crack at Sun Raph while adding my own spin to it. Not that I don’t love the design already, I just thought of some nifty facts about our actual Sun that might be cool incorporated into Sun Raph.

His shell, instead of flames or spikes, is a fusion reaction of highly dense gases resulting in the production of helium and intense white light. Or in Raph’s case more reddish light to get the appropriate color aesthetic lol. Basically don’t look at him from the back you’ll go blind. If you wanna see what’s happening behind the glowing light you gotta use SWAP satellite imaging, making it look more like a molten lava core for a shell like you see in all those cool solar images from NASA.

I also love the art of Raph with an alligator snapping turtle tail, and the first thing I thought of was a Charizard’s flaming tail and how sick that would look on a sun inspired turtle. His spikes aren’t true spikes here, instead spots where solar flares and excess energy from his internal fusion reactions are released giving it a flaming effect. Solar events are what determine the size of his spike flames and bandana (particle storms, coronal mass ejections, ect). When solar storms aren’t occurring his bandana and flames appear smaller.

Though it would also make sense for solar storms to be directly linked to his emotions lol. When he’s angry the heat and light is massive, making human scientist panic that the next solar event is gonna hit earth and destroy life as we know it.

I understand the first two reasons, but characters have been killed off in kids' shows prior [ie, power rangers villains and the transformers movie where Optimus amongst other well-loved characters were killed], even in care bears such as the lady in the book from 'The care bears movie' and it was without blood. Also, no heart is not a good father as Shreeky is quite a brat, and I doubt the care bears can continue fighting him on a weekly basis, as they aren't powerful individually, but collectively which is something that no heart can use to defeat them [They are also not as powerful as say the TMNT, power rangers or any other magic users]. This is made worse as they do not have any weapons that can channel their power, such as a magical star blaster, sword, or even protective armour and Care A lot is not heavily fortified, of at all.

Side note, if FunShine has solar powers, why doesn't he make a solar flare or a Coronal Mass Ejection in combat, that would squad wipe any opponents as they are too hot and powerful to touch.

Aftermath AU: The Blame Game

Hey look, this one gets a title! Written for @donitkitt‘s Aftermath AU (one day I’ll write something else...maybe XD). Trigger warnings for past/referenced torture and guilt. (That’s all I can think of, if I missed any please let me know!) 

They were home. Away from the torture, the pure psychotic pain that Bishop eagerly put them through. Despite being home, being safe in familiar surroundings, there was a stillness in the air, a tension growing in the near silence of the lair, as each of the four brothers were lost in their own thoughts.

Leo moved slowly through a kata in the dojo, the movements muscle memory now. Despite the familiarity, it did nothing to stop the downward spiral of his thoughts. He should have been better. Should have kept his guard up when they went to meet up with Raph, should have fought better against Bishop, should have gotten Mikey out of there sooner, should have, should have, should have…there was so much he should have done. He was the leader after all, he should have come up with a way to get out faster, and more importantly, he was their big brother, he should have protected them, spared them from everything that they now suffer from. He would take it all in a heartbeat, every injury, every nightmare, every moment of panic and fear if it meant his brothers finally felt safe and happy again instead of paranoid and anxious in their own home. Now, with his eyesight going, blurring more and more by the day, how could he be the leader they needed him to be? How can he protect them if he can’t even see what’s coming? Maybe this was his punishment, for sending Raph away to figure out how to control that temper of his on his own instead of being there for him and help, and then for letting his brothers get caught by Bishop and suffering so much. Losing the ability to see what matters most to him because he wasn’t enough to save them…it’s what he deserves.

Raphael tried to focus on making dinner, humming some song he couldn’t remember the lyrics to, tried to recall those instead of the memories and doubts that roared for his attention. He should have had better control of his temper. Back then it raged so much, a solar flare that scorched everything close by, a wildfire that burned out of control with the slightest trigger. He understood why Leo tossed him out, told him not to come back until he got it under control (sometimes in his dreams he still sees the terrified look on Mikey’s face, the protective anger on Donnie’s and the disappointment on Leo’s), how he kept inching closer and closer to doing something he couldn’t just apologize for because of that anger. But still, if he hadn’t gotten so mad and had to crash at Casey’s, then he wouldn’t have gotten caught by Bishop and used as bait. (A twisted part of him that still screamed with rage wanted to blame Leo, if he hadn’t kicked him out, then none of this would have happened, but he shoved that part down deep and refused to give it a seconds thought). So he stayed calm, cracked bad jokes, and did his best to be his brother’s go-to when they were having bad days, it was the least he could do. Afterall, look what happened the last time he let his emotions get out of control.

Pen in hand, Donnie carefully went drew a blueprint, occasionally scribbling equations on the side. Drawing out ideas and making them a reality was second nature to him now, and as he planned out components and requirements for his new arm, his thoughts drifted back to what made this a necessity in the first place. The more he thought about it, the more bitter his thoughts became. He should have been smarter. All this knowledge, this ability to create and think miles ahead of everyone else, and when it counted most? When he needed some ingenious idea to get his brothers to safety and away from a complete psychopath? Nothing. They barely managed to get Mikey out and even then, it hadn’t been guaranteed to work, leaving his little brother on his own. He should have thought of something, got under Bishop’s skin somehow so he’d slip up. The guy had some sicko fascination with him, maybe if he played that, he could have gotten his brothers out sooner and safer. A big “what if”, but still, look at them all now; Raph missing an eye, something was up with Leo’s eyes too (not that he’d said anything, stubborn jerk), and Mikey panicking so often and unable to eat so many foods due to the trauma of having his tooth forcibly ripped from his mouth. If he could have prevented his, prevented all these new ways that they’re suffering even out of Bishop’s lab, anything would have been worth it. But all these “what ifs” and ideas now did them no good; he didn’t think of them fast enough and now they were all paying the price.

Game controller in hand, Mikey mindlessly moved his character through the game levels, so familiar with this game he could play it with his eyes closed. Instead of distracting him like he hoped it would, a good familiar game with nothing but positive memories attached, the lack of attention he had to give it only allowed him to wander further and further into the thoughts he was trying to ignore in the first place. He should have been faster. If he hadn’t taken so long to find his way back home, to heal, to get his brothers out, then maybe things would be better. If he had just pushed, pleaded, convinced Splinter that they needed to go back right away, maybe Raph would still have his eye, Donnie would still have his arm, and Leo could still see well (Mikey remembered too well in the tunnels how Leo’s eyes roamed almost fearfully as he kept asking him which way home was, saw how Leo squinted sometimes at things sometimes when he thought no one was looking, put two and two together and then stopped thinking about it because then his breath would catch in his throat because he should have been faster, shouldn’t have been so scared, should have come through for his brothers when they were counting on him). But he’d been too slow, too many stops to try and breathe while he desperately listened for following footsteps, too much time lost while he healed to Splinter’s satisfaction. And his brothers suffered for it. They suffered Bishop’s punishments for letting him get away, because he had been too slow.

So many “what ifs”, so many “I should haves”. Even though it had all been out of their control, the only person truly to blame being Bishop, they each couldn’t help, but blame themselves.

TMNT in correspondence to elements of earth

So my friend (who's a big nerd) walked in on me fangirling about TMNT and commented on how he didn't really like the series because the character development sucked. Of course I argued back but none of what I was saying was making any sense to him, so finally I attempted to put my insight into a perspective that he would understand.

As I see it the family of turtles (and their rat dad/sensei) are similar to aspects of the earth. Imagine that earth itself is New York City and the sun is the Foot Clan, each member of the family is an unseen force connecting to the earth.

Leo is the magnetic field surrounding the planet and keeping everything in place. He could also be gravity because he keeps the team grounded and in place even when they try to break and or test the boundaries. His family expects him to always do his job and they rely on him to lead them, but sometimes he finally starts to feel the strain of keeping everyone together and considers giving up. However he continues his efforts because that's what he's supposed to do, so he puts his problems aside and does what he needs to do for his family.

Raph is solar flares sent from the sun because some people who aren't familiar with the film think he's going to turn and go rogue (which he kinda does in 2007), but also because his opinion is contradictory to the other family member's. He also clashes with Leo (the magnetic field) who keeps him from causing destruction, and although his take on things are normally considered dangerous or extreme, after passing through his brother's rage his words come out as something beautiful that people treasure if they take the time to appreciate it (in other words it becomes the Aurora Borealis). Plus he tends to remind the team that there's a whole other point of view of which to view things from, constantly giving the team a reality check.

Donnie is the atmosphere, giving people the air they need to breathe easy and also evolving the species according to the environment. He may not always be viewed as a very important piece of the team but he is an essential aspect of their success. His inventions make it possible to get things done and are why they didn't die jumping off a plane. He is prepared for anything and never hesitates to do what he needs to do to help his family.

Mikey is the weather, giving everyone what they need to keep moving. When the team is in a heated argument he's the clouds attempting to cool the mood, when they feel like giving up and quitting he's the e rain giving them the small push to keep moving on and growing. People see him as annoying and assume he's just getting in the way when in reality his 'unnecessary humor' is just him trying to lighten the mood and cheer everyone up as well as cheering them on.

Then Splinter is the core of the earth, keeping the planet, and it's elements, under his good influence and keeping everything running smoothly.

All in all I think I did a pretty good job, although my friend is now concerned with how much time I'm spending on anything related to the fandom. 😂
