The day Donnie lost another brother during the invasion would be when Hell froze over. Raph was in critical condition and nowhere near capable of helping, Leo was stuck in the Prison Dimension, and Mikey might fade away trying to get him out.

Fuck that. Donnie wasn't going to give up one brother just to save the other. Fuck his arms, he could live without them.

But he couldn't live without his brothers.

@remedyturtles absolutely killing it with the latest chapters of their firefight fic. The last third of ch.37 was so fuckin eerie and tense and visually rich that I couldn't NOT make some art inspired by it. I've been hankering to draw something more experimental and dark lately, and this really scratched that itch!

theory, (or stating the obvious?) the reason Leo’s shell is now a gardening project is his real one was horrifically damaged and needed a full makeover to not die. Hooray for Fay magic!

Bonus points if my wild more speculative guess of Leo having memory loss (not including JJ trivia) including the invasion and his family to some extent being on the money, lol.

leo very much remembers the invasion and the events leading up to his displacement to the feywilds. and he is very much aware of the absence of his brothers.
