TWINS AU HUMAN VERSE FUN FACTS:

once again, this au is ofc collabed and shared w @omgselinabeckendorf the beloved, with her amazing oc Rose Jones 🫶🏼

There is no Kraang or Shredder or Clan wars or mutant stuff. Just a normal high school human verse with weirdo kids <3

Saki isn't a creep or a bad guy in this verse, he's just that odd uncle that lives in Japan that comes home for the holidays

Shen doesn't die and Miwa and her brothers get to be raised by two parents! Except Miwa isn't called Miwa and is instead Karai, as it is in og canon

Karai and her brothers are all the bio kids of Shen and Yoshi

The Hamatos immigrated to Japan when Karai was 4 and the boys were 3, and befriended the O'Neils, consisting of only Kirby and April (they're neighbours)

April learns Japanese bcs she was so exposed to the language and culture at such a young age, her Dad still struggles a bit though

The Hamatos & April attend the same school from kindergarten to high school, and aren't known to socialise outside of their family / friend circle

Their group expands when Rose and Casey are introduced via April

Rose and Van are ofc besties 4 life in this verse

The Hamatos & April are still martial artists and practice several types weekly, including ninjutsu (they use their skills to sneak around though, as opposed to combat, they dont need to fight much anyway, it's just good to have these skills)

The Hamato O'Neil Jones family frequently go on holidays together

They also head to the O'Neil farmhouse every summer

Raph and Mikey get bad dye jobs bcs they wanted to look like Karai with her blond undercut and severely misjudged how difficult it'd be

Donnie's teased for looking like a vampire

Van likes to eat instant noodles in his least favourite classes - Leo used to scold him but now he forces him to share bcs high school's too sucky to care abt rules

Van and Leo switch places all the time to take each other's tests, and attend classes and / or detention for one another

Raph's on the wrestling team, Casey does hockey and Rose does boxing

Shen teaches Van first aid and she's everyone's first contact before a doctor or nurse

The Hamatos often refer to Kirby as "Dad" bcs that was who he was to them growing up

WELCOME

SUMMARY:

The Likeness of Mirrored Souls is an AU that follows a retelling of the TMNT 2012 series with the addition of Hamato Giovanni and Rose Jones (and is also referred to as the TMNT 2012 Twins AU)

TLOMS is a growing multiverse that includes a human au, pirate au, several bad ending / evil aus and more, which will be featured on this blog!

Giovanni (aka Van / Vanni) is Leonardo's identical twin, after Splinter accidentally bought 5 turtles instead of 4 that fateful day. Green masked and user of the shuang gou (Chinese Hook Swords), he's the team medic, [shared] eldest of five brothers and uses any pronouns!

Roselyn (aka Rose / Ro) is Casey's fraternal (and depending on the au, adopted) twin, who may be a Faerie with magic she struggles to understand, or a merfolk, or a human, but in all verses is raised as a Jones through and through! Predominantly pink and never seen without either a baseball bat or boxing gloves close by, pink is here to kick ass and take names, one of three, and uses she/he/pink pronouns!

Honeybee tell me everything about Rise of the TMNT

HELLO YES IVE BEEN SUMMONED??

OKAY so- 2012 Tmnt comes and goes and is beautiful (the opening is UNREASONABLY FIRE) and we start having reboot hell. They’re horrible, disgracefull.

Then in 2018 Rose of the TMNT was apparently announced and people HATED it immediately, everybody was already tired of awful reboots and just wanted the TMNT to stay good Damnit. Then Rise actually comes out, it’s fire- People slowly warm too it till 2022 and my Social media DRAGS me into it kicking and screaming.

It’s like a more flat style the 2012 Tmnt, more animated more saturated, ALSO APRIL IS BLACK NOW AND I LOVE HER. Also the turtles are different kind of turtles! Sometimes it adds to their characters like Raph being a snapping turtle and Donnie being soft shelled, mostly it just adds variety and lets the turtles be recognizable without their color coated stuff. I adore this choice.

It feels silly and accurate to immature 15 year olds. Splinter keeps reasonable secrets like him being ex action movie star Lou Jitsu (who’s actually one of the boys favorites) and them being created by the big bad of most of the series.

Keeping in tone with the silliness, the villains and bad guys are really silly too. Basically the big bad releases Oozesquitoes (mutated mosquitoes that inject people with mutagenic sludge called Ooze) and they go about stinging people. We end up with a gordan Ramsey parody villain and Hypnotist hippo, a version of the Foot Clan (yes FOOT clan, they have feet marks on their faces) where the two main guys are huge Lou Jitsu fans (speaking of Lou Jitsu his catchphrase is HOT SOUP I love this fucking show)

ALSO LOW EMPTY POSSIBLY HAS THE ‘TISM DONNIE. He just feelllllsss like he’s got a sprinkle of the tism-

All of the turtles are very likable dispute their worse traits, Raph ain’t the smartest, Leo can be self centered, Mikey can’t take most things seriously, Donnie is a bit uppity and over focused on his inventions. But they balance it well. Splinter is way more comedic then usual too and it takes a bit to like him but by the end I loved him.

They ended up integrating Casey Jones into the end of season Movie in a very interesting way and also there’s a joke about the space time continuum since the movie starts on a time travel thing.

This is a side thing but: Throughout the show nobody ever calls them the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They almost stumble into it at several points but for most of the show Raph calls them the “Mad dogs” which was wild. Then they manage to turn the first time they’re called the TMNT properly into a huge freaking moment- I loveeeeee the set up and payoff and I didn’t expect it. Maybe it’s just me being kinda bad at literary analysis but that moment made me feel…better.

Because I recognized it. Satisfying set up and payoff doesn’t have to be 4D big brain moves like knives out. It can be as simple as the name of the show it’self. It shows you the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
