FRANCIS: “What do you want?”

THE SPIDER: “The same thing I always want, Francis, every time we do this dance, every single act of our – hilarious production. I want what you want, deep, deep down in the hidden bit of you you’ve tried so hard to kill. You can’t wait for the dance to conclude.”

FRANCIS: “I don’t want that anymore. It’s different now; I’m different now. I’ve worked so hard.”

I interpreted "You can't wait for the dance to conclude" as if the dance is life itself, (wanting death because it's favorable to their current situation is a theme in most these episodes) but continuing to listen learned that it was about addiction. Still a really good episode, that part just hit me like a truck.

"I don't want that anymore. It's different now. I'm different now. I've worked so hard."

Honorable mention to "You never smile when you’re clean, did you know that? I mean, what have you got to be so sad about? Honestly. You do make it hard sometimes. I don’t know"

Might I say, this most recent episode of the Magnus Archive really messed me upppp.

Like this is the first episode that I’ve been able to listen to as it’s come out, and they dropped this. It framed the web very differently than how I was interpreting it, and god that is horrifying. It’s not just the needing of control but being controlled too.

And having it be on a subjectively relatable character to me, that really messed with me. Not nessarly the addiction angle but the outer forces just poking enough to make your suffering feel as if it is all for not.
