TMI: 3 times in entirety

TDA: 2 times in entirety

TID: Attempted a reread but didn’t finish the first book. Whoops. Should get on that

TLH: 1 time. Not planning on rereading any time soon.

TEC: Read both TRSOM and TLBOTW 2 times

TBC: 2 times

TFTSA: 2 times

GOTSM: 1 time

SOBH: 1 time, counting it. It’s a lot of reading fr. I’ll prob reread when we get physical copies

Graphic Novels (for fun): I think I’ve read like volumes 1 and 2 three times, and 3 and 4 twice, and the others just 1 time, they’re too new

How many times have you reread each shadowhunters series?

I've read TMI like 5-10 times, but many many years ago. I haven't reread it since I was like 21. I definitely am due a reread.

I've read RSoM 3 times now and TLBoTW once. But I'm about to embark on a TLBoTW reading journey because I just reread RSoM and miss Ragnor.

I've read Lady Midnight a couple of times but have only read LoS and Qoaad once. It was more than enough. Never again.

TID is probably the series I've reread the most times. I've done probably anywhere between 10-20 times, closer to 20. I've been into it for 10 years, what can I say? (Might reread it this year around the holidays!)

But based on percentages, TLH is probably my most reread. We've only had it a few years, and I've read ChoG probably over 10 times, ChoI thrice, and ChoT 4 times so far (it's only been out for like 8 months.) So like, based on the time we've had it, TLH is the most frequent. (Gonna reread the full trilogy in January when the paperbacks come out!)

I will say that Nothing But Shadows and Cast Long Shadows are by far my most-read TSC content. I read one or the other, like, monthly.

Hot take: tlbotw is not good, I only love it bc its main characters are malec and bc both of them are sacrificial parasocial idiots for each other. Malec privilege. Other than them, the book does nothing for me and I haven't reread it since September of 2020 whereas I've reread trosm thrice.

bestie you really go OFF!! and some of yall gonna be mad at me but it much be sad i agree. malec is the book only saving grace plot what plot villain what villain. also the climax....yeah don't even start the only good thing comes out of that climax is malec being self-sacrificing idiots pls. trsom is top tier cause it essentially a romcom about malec and their romantic getaway trip with some cult business please. we need to get back to their roots for tbvotd! honeymoon and necromancy business!

I get wht you said about Belial dying n stuff — it kinda seems like god just took another doll off the shelf and plopped it in to replace the old one. makes me wonder if he does that with his angels too, or even how angels and all that work with other worlds. is there a thing of angels for each world?? is each world a universe, or is a cluster of worlds one universe??

I need to reread TLBotW. Didn’t Sammael die, but the Sammael that came back seems to be the same entity, he was just MIA for a thousand years? Why didn’t he get replaced by a new Sammael like Belial did? And Lilith too. She’s still floating around in pieces in the void or something, she didn’t get replaced by a new one.

I think maybe the 5D chess of Heaven and Hell is just beyond our mortal comprehension and there is no sense to be found in it.

Hi do you think cassie will ever remember she has a ongoing series called eldest curses? its been two years and i ( i assume i can say we too) have been deprived of canon malec content .. i miss them a lot ... though your stories help a lot .. i think your characterizations are soo beautiful and complicated and intense ... i know there was a discourse going on abt alec's toxicity in TLND ... and i cld see his toxicity from miles away ... and how mavid both are a bit intense which might result into unhealthy relationship choices ... but i love how not simple they are . even alec was a bit toxic in very early books ... early tmi i mean .. but he has grown to be much better ... i think the one diff i saw between tlnd alec and canon alec is that teh latter is much more clam and rational and peace loving in his approaches .. ( like dealing with exiled clave and zara in teh few snippets we have had) which i like teh transition that he has had in a more rational logical and calm person that he has become .. he doesnt have big explosions of emotions but he like take sit in process it and respondes accordingly .. very rarely does he lose control ( aka when his family is in danger like rafael the adoption story of his, or magnus in tlbow) sry this got a bit long but i just reread tlbotw and tlnd and i am feels rn

About TEC - if I remember correctly, the second TEC book is set between the first and second TWP book (or something like that). So, we won't get any content until TWP is out. CC kind of fucked up with the release dates, me thinks. She released TEC too early and now the wait for the final book is too far away sigh.

Thank you for your kind words about my writing. I like writing relationships that are complicated - and perhaps even a little fucked up. I've written fics where it's all butterflies and roses (like LMLT). But as a writer, it's so rewarding to explore different aspects of characters in different universities. I think TLND Alec was the most 'toxic' in my fics because of the universe and circumstances he was in. I can't compare Consul Alec to Governor Alec because we know TLND Alec's life was very different. Everything is shit in the mundane world. I feel despite the demons and the cohort and all else, canon alec has the luxury of being calm, whereas in the mundane world it's just more stress and pressure and chaos (i mean look at our own leaders...)

I personally always found LBAF Alec to be the calmest and most responsible one in my fics, because again, there is something about that universe that gives him more control, I think. But it's not the same for all the characters. For eg, Max to me, is most unhinged in LBAF universe.

But yeah, like i said, it's fun to play around with all of this :)

It’s been almost a year and a half...but I am FINALLY DONE WITH MY TMI REREAD!!

CoHF was actually a lot better than I remembered it! You can definitely tell Cassie has improved as a writer since CoB, though there’s definitely still room for improvement (even in her newer books).

From a story standpoint, it was a little long, especially in the first half. I mean, they didn’t even get to Edom until the last half of the book. Otherwise, it was pretty solid! There weren’t any really boring moments (at least, not in the last half). I’m surprised I got as emotional as I did, I don’t think I’ve cried this much at a book since They Both Die at the End in 2017

Now that I’ve finished my reread, I’m going to read TLBotW, but after that (and probably a cc break to read some other books I’ve been neglecting) I think I’m going to go back and read tid and cog. I’ll admit I never got past clockwork angel, and that was in 7th grade 😬

Happy birthday, High Warlock! I’m currently in Southeast Asia so my sense of global time is a bit skewed, but I believe it to be Magnus’ birthday and will be snippeting accordingly! Hope you enjoy this scene from Lost Book of the White in which Magnus has a lot to contend with.

Magnus found his robe, blinked the sleep from his eyes, and went into the kitchen, where Jace Herondale was pouring coffee into Magnus’s “I’m Kind of a Big Deal” mug.

“Don’t you have your own coffeepot?” Magnus said blearily.

Jace, blond hair in its usual, preternaturally excellent state,flashed him a winning smile that Magnus was not prepared to deal with before he too had some coffee. “I hear you got stabbed by a weird Norwegian thorn,” Jace said. “Also, do you have any soy milk?Clary’s doing a whole soy milk thing now.”

“What are you doing in my apartment?” said Magnus.

“Well,” said Jace, now rummaging in the fridge, “I’d like to think I’d be welcome anytime, what with my close relationship with all three of you. But in this case, Alec called us. Said something about Shanghai.” ​“Who is us?” Magnus said suspiciously.

Jace waved his coffee cup around. “Us! You know. All of us.”

“All of you?” Magnus repeated. He held up a hand. “Wait. Stop. I am going to go put on something more substantial than a kimono. You are going to use your angelic powers to pour me as large a mug of black coffee as you can find, and I will be right back, and then we can talk about terrible concepts like who ‘all of you’ are, or what Alec told you about last night.”

When he returned to the living room, now suitably dressed, he found Alec, arms folded, looking long-suffering. In the far corner of the room, next to the ceiling, Max floated, tumbling in the air. He didn’t seem to be in peril—indeed, he was yelling “Wheeeeeeeeeee” and appeared to be having an excellent time. Under him, Clary Fairchild and Isabelle Lightwood attempted to nudge him back to the ground with a broom handle. With her free hand, Clary was waving a red braid, trying to get Max interested as though he were Chairman Meow. Max was upside-down and obviously feeling good about it. Everyone else was in t-shirts and jeans, but Isabelle, of course, had shown up in a fitted black sweater over a tiered velvet maxi skirt. She was one of the few people who could occasionally make Magnus feel underdressed.
