i was only going to share a few bits bc they're all very messy wips, but i talk too much, so... (please talk carcar with me tho, i will always welcome it)

WAG/HAB carlos

the longest of my wips, with the longest timeline (starts in 2021...)

super self-indulgent. they get together relatively early in the timeline, and then spend the rest of it being disgustingly in love.

carlos sees first oscar first. there's a f2 quali in the same city as his tournament, so he goes. he switched his career and started playing golf professionally a little later than most, but he's raced his whole life. it's in his blood. he knows when he's looking at a great driver on the track. so he stays through the session and ends up seeing oscar piastri take his helmet, and then his balaclava off. his hair poofs about his head, and carlos is sold. he is endeared, charmed. he thinks that he'd like to see more of this young man.

they meet some race weekends later in barcelona. carlos has now been to a few of oscar's races, has cheered for him even. oscar doesn't recognise him — he isn't a fan of golf, after all. oscar is still riding the high of a good race and a new trophy to his name. it's the endorphins and the adrenaline rushing through him that makes him more outwardly happy than he'd otherwise be. it's also why he doesn't shy away when a handsome stranger congratulates him for a brilliant drive.

“I just think you’re brilliant,” he says, with his big brown doe eyes and plush lips pulled into a smile. Like he means it. Oscar doesn’t know what to do with that. He continues earnestly, “I believe that you’re going great places. That you’ll be a Formula One World Champion someday.”

Oscar laughs. “Yeah? You know a lot of World Champions?”

The outrageously handsome man smiles wider, looking even more outrageously handsome. Oscar wants to file a complaint to God himself for sculpting him. “You could say that I know enough World Champions quite well.”

they get together in early 2022... oscar becomes a test driver... carlos climbs the world ranks... summer breaks and off-seasons are spent together... carlos teaches oscar how to play golf... racing each other in the sainzes's estate... oscar moves to monaco and takes carlos with him...

while oscar is a test/reserve driver, carlos still visits the track, but doesn't linger in the alpine hospitality. instead, he bothers his only close friend there — max. max, of course, finds it all to be hilarious. (“I don’t think I’ve seen you so often since you quit,” Max observes one day as he enters his room to find Carlos laid on his sofa. “Do you just miss me or do you get too lonely when loverboy is busy?”)

the wag/hab part comes after oscar is signed to mclaren and suddenly there are more cameras on him and his entourage. carlos can be often found around the mclaren hospitality or garage, and it's always a treat when the cameras zoom in on him. he's also not shy about posting on his socials when he's with oscar, not shy about sharing oscar's post-race posts either.

tl;dr: au where carlos is a pro golfer, and oscar is the same. in 2024, oscar is a race winner and carlos is an olympic athlete and also oscar's gorgeous friend who's always in the paddocks. all sorts of worlds are colliding, and those with the eyes to see are Looking.

au in which carlos comes out of a retirement no one was really expecting (least of all himself) to join his old team as their team principal.

oscar is new to the grid. he'd signed literally just before carlos was kicked, so they haven't intersected yet, not really.

so oscar doesn't know what to think of their new tp, who's just a bit too young and too handsome and too there.

Oscar doesn’t know what to make of Carlos Sainz. He knows him, of course. He knows every Formula One winner in the last few years, and even before then. He’s seen Sainz on magazines, on the television, on his phone, and even on Lando’s. Carlos Sainz is a familiar figure to anyone who’s touched Formula One racing in the last half decade. But that’s Carlos Sainz, the handsome Ferrari driver. 

This is Carlos Sainz, McLaren’s new TP and test driver. It is an absurd situation, but everyone in the team is seemingly happy to have him around. It makes it exceedingly obvious, how young Oscar is, and how new he is to this space.

carlos is a very hands on tp who values driver input in every step of the process. he's also already rather familiar with oscar's teammate. this means a lot of meetings, phonecalls, and late night meetings with room service...

RB carlos

essentially, an au where things are just slightly different.

in which carlos grits his teeth and sticks through toro rosso until a rb promotion.

oscar signs with mclaren. that same year, carlos sainz, jr. becomes the 2023 wdc, the second spanish driver to do so in the history of the sport.

more or less a character study (?) of how it'd be if carlos stuck with rb despite everything. in this au, he's less friendly with the other drivers, more serious (not that he isn't already hh), and just generally a little exhausted all the time. his two closest friends are max and charles, and spends time with other drivers through their association only.

oscar piastri, however, is not the bright-eyed rookie carlos had been expecting. there is Something about him, and suddenly carlos is interested in someone outside his racecar, outside his very tight circle. carlos is so intrigued and so charmed. oscar is reserved, subdued, quiet. but there's a sharpness in him, a harshness that comes out only, it seems, when carlos rubs him the wrong way on track. it makes carlos wants to peel away his layers, see who he is beneath the pr training and the papaya fireproofs. maybe even beneath those.

oscar doesn't really like sainz. he knows he's spanish racing royalty and lando has put him on this pedestal as one of the greatest drivers ever, but he's just... a boring bloke. a vicious driver, sure. handsome with a nice smile, but rarely with anything behind it. serious. a little sad. he's winning races — and ruining oscar's, while he's at it — so really, if anyone should be upset, it should be oscar and not mr perfect.

max — along with charles and lando — is of the belief that they could be good together. meddling ensues.

tl;dr: carlos and oscar Noticing each other, but not doing anything about it until their friends catch on.

Lemme tell u something because that's part of what's making this whole deal so deeply hard to stomach. Zak brown sees the accusations against horner as a business opportunity because horner's his adversary in this particular business. that's it. And like I was willing to put up wid his lil act because at the end of the day he's saying the right things and he's an influential voice in the sport. So like who cares if its empty and not genuine, positive net benefit etc. whtvr. BUT Zak brown was also one of the few tps/owners who backed the FIA when they clamped down on drivers voices and prohibited 'political' acts in 2022. Zak brown said, and I quote, 'We just need to find a balance there and not have every start of a race being a new political agenda for someone. I don't think that's healthy as it can detract from what everyone has tuned in to, which is they want to watch a grand prix.' 😐 which first of all everybody point and laugh great job finding that balance and not detracting from the race you fucking phony ass bitch but whtvr I digress. So this whole sad event happens right and McLaren just came out wid a statement clarifying they are not backing Trump as a candidate they simply accepted f1's request to show him around the garage out of respect for the US presidency office. And that frankly pisses me off sm because I can only swallow sm fucking bullshit being fed to me until i start vomiting bro. McLaren is based in Woking, England. McLarens two active drivers are australian and British. bad's summary of today's events/lessons and how they'll defend against further code attacks, especially if ninho has weaknesses:

the code attacked, weren't sure if it was the code

the code observed the ninho, peering in through the window taking photos

potential reasoning: code was figuring out layouts, strategy

why? if it can't go in itself, could it send in a player?

brainstormed someone working for the code could go in to set traps, mess with enderpearls, etc. how do they stop this?

new idea/system:

set up each egg's room segmented into at least two parts:

part one is where eggs are teleported to so someone cant set traps to kill them immediately after tp; only eggs can get into this with enderpearls &

pt 2: check enderpearl, have eggs activate and reset so they know for a fact it's the egg's pearl and not someone else's that they broke in and threw/blocked their tp so they can't get in using the pearls

code may not be able to go into room, but might be able to see water elevators, could place a block to disrupt it and could mess up enderpearl tps

addressed all these concerns*!

now need to figure out how to apply everything they've learned

set up all rooms in those segments, place buttons and carpets so tnt cant be placed; even if it can, segmenting & reinforcing within the rooms prevents damage against the eggs

everyone gives permission to all the right parents so they can get in and make the changes

disable chorus fruits, as they still can get through reinforced blocks; there is a blocker for them!

elevator issue is no longer a problem-- buttons prevent elevators from working as well!

*he thought of a very awful possibility at the end and wrote it on a book to tell richas because he was too scared of the potential for stream sniping!

the idea seems to involve the locations-- richas said that the ninho would have to move after every code attack, and bad said all the eggs being in one building makes them vulnerable to this issue. bad is saying there's a couple ways to possibly deal with it; namely that at minimum they need two ninhos. he refused to give too many details and told chat not to speculate too much.

tl;dr bad is never getting sleep ever again!

it feels crazy to me that RBR are allowed to constantly taunt Lando on social media (his insta, his threads, his tiktok, etc.) and have their TP and other high ranking members of their team call Lando pathetic, and post a livery reveal that looks like blood dripping, inviting a lot of disgusting people to comment that “it looks like Norris’s blood” and “they’re going to k!ll Norris”…

but the second McLaren post a factual analysis video that reiterates everything that everyone already knew (it was just an accident, with more blame leaning towards Max since you can literally see him move towards Lando on the helicopter camera), they’re the villains.

like, I understand that the social media admins can move real weird sometimes, but this all just seems so overblown to me. If RBR are allowed to constantly poke fun at it and act tongue and cheek about the incident, McLaren are allowed to remind people (who, by the way, are now trying to say that the incident was actually Lando’s fault the whole time - I’ve had to block a lottt of people) what actually happened and whose race it actually ruined.

I like both of these teams (lean more McLaren, if that wasn’t obvious), and I don’t root for anyone’s downfall, but I’m so tired of social media right now. yes, Max was more in the wrong for the collision. no, that doesn’t mean Lando is absolved of all guilt. but yes, it did hurt Lando’s race & championship bid more than it did Max’s, and he reacted accordingly (not correctly, necessarily, but accordingly).

any further conflict beyond that should be dealt with by them (and probably has already been dealt with) since they’re the only two people involved. it shouldn’t matter beyond that. and now both drivers are getting constant hate and death threats thrown towards them, and it’s exhausting. I just want to watch racing! I could not care less about the infighting that comes after every single time a driver makes a move! sometimes people run into each other, it happens!!!

this weekend, Max was in the wrong. last weekend, Lando was in the wrong (Spain grass incident). but it doesn’t matter! it’s racing! stop asking people to kts over a bunch of millionaires racing in badly drawn circles! and stop trying to blame the other driver more than your fave, you’re just continuing the circle of hate.

and also, as an aside, if you’re going to post hate/anti- posts towards a driver, can you please at least tag them correctly? so I don’t have to see post after post of vitriol towards my favorite drivers when I’m just trying to escape from it all? thx

jeepers our ferrari men (husbands) gave us a heart attack out there in the last few laps

so after that sprint race, my twt tl are in flames while my men (especially mr chilli over here in his, as they would say, iDgAf era') are out smiling it away from the media, telling us that it was racing and aggressive is their thing to each other.

having read much from all this, I then SUDDENLY HAVE THIS IDEA that popped up. This is how the scenario goes:

post-sprint race debrief after every interview and whatsoever for media. Discussed with their tp and engineers, talking about the race from first to last lap. fast forward, meeting ended, all engineers left, tp asked the two drivers to have lunch with him tomorrow to 'thoroughly discuss' with them the fighting they did, especially that stunt carlos pulled (which is racing and charles admitted to that he has done that as well just that carlos was the one doing it this time). Both agreed, and their tp went his merry way. Charles being near the exit was about to take his leave, Carlos cleared his throat, making charles stop DEAD on his track. Carlos was on the opposite end to his and Charles did not attempt to look back at him, so the Spaniard decided to slowly make his way towards the Monegasque. Charles stood his ground, still despite feeling Carlos' presence behind him.

A few seconds of silence

Until one spoke. "We could've lost..." "Mhm.." Carlos does not refute.

"That drive you did was a risky move-"

"Uhuh-"

"On my end. To Ferrari's end as well-"

"Hmm."

"I felt that was-"

Charles was stubborn and frustrated, still not wanting to give his full attention to Carlos, simply tilted his head to the side. Giving him a side-eye towards the Spaniard. "You were too much for me out there. You were aggressive."

Few seconds of silence. The other spoke.

"I don't think so-"

"What? Did you just forget about all the interview-heck were you there when we watched the replay?" "I was."

"Then you agree then..."

"Not really..."

"What? How?"

"I need to hear you say it-"

"I literally just said it during interviews, debrief, and-"

"I need to see you...say it." Charles wanted to fight more but he found himself going silent

"Look at me.."

"I need to see that look. The annoyance. The rage-" "You were too much for me out there. You were aggressive." This time, he was looking at Carlos. And there Carlos saw Charles: the look of annoyance but no hint of rage, assured that this is a bitter pill that is swallowed but the taste won't last that long.

"Then I apologize for that" as he is interlocking his hand with the Monegasque seeing his features soften after hearing his apology.

Wanting to appease him more, "How do I make it up to you?", he unclasps his hand to Charles, softly planted a kiss on his palm while looking at the green of his lover's eyes.

Feeling warm and looking dusted in pink, Charles softly spoke. "After qualifying."

"Yeah?"

Charles lowered his head "I don't mind if you're a little aggressive..."

Carlos grinned. "Aggressive how?" Charles looking up, redder than ever ."You know what I meant-"

"Okay okay." Moving closer to Charles as he gently cups his face. "After qualifying, I will PROPERLY make it up to you..."

I have received a testimony from a roleplayer who wishes to remain anonymous.

Tl;dr: Spork has posted old RPs on his AO3 before without permission from the RP partner(s), and without apology to them if they ask for it to be taken down. He also fed the other writer's work to an AI bot without permission.

"I'm still incredibly upset. Today I got a notification that Spork posted our old RP as his fic. I might have some drafts in google docs. but I can swear it's the RP almost word for word.

Not only that, it's a smut RP that I expressed to Spork at the time that I'm NOT comfortable with it being public. I never consented to my writing from our RPs being posted as his fanfic on any public form or to feed into a bot.

I write my own drabbles without taking an full RP from someone else. there is no excuse for this.

I'm the old Oswald RPer that dipped out once Spork was done simping for Penguin.

I have proof. That being said Spork did take the fanfic down almost immediately (no apology). I'd just like this to be archived if you think it is worth something.

i agree that 2022 was primarily down to binotto’s abysmal management skills more than anything else. however, i do wonder if there was a degree of (subconscious) favoritism within the team. carlos was binotto’s guy, and he had a vested interest in his success, but carlos spent half of 2022 in the gravel. the midseason TD was what really killed the car, and ferrari never recovered, but it also makes sense that binotto would want his guy to look competent

(to be clear this is about car development, not any conspiracies that charles was deliberately sabotaged in an individual race. THAT is def not the case)

as far as i know drivers have very little impact on car development. teams always try to build the fastest car, and the theoretical fastest car (twitchy twitchy) aligns more with what charles prefers. however, ferrari's design philosophy has continually, and imo incidentally, gone back to rear-oriented cars year after year, both before and after charlos joined the team. so at face value it might seem like they develop the car in carlos' direction but in reality it's just a fundamental design flaw they can't get rid of

fred mentioned a few months ago that ferrari's cars over the past decade have shared similar characteristics, mainly because they rarely shuffled their engineering team. to address this he's made it a priority to bring in new staff to diversify their ideas <- that's my goat tp <3

the midseason TD was what really killed the car

2022 is funny to me because in hindsight they were not winning that season anyway. which i guess is a positive thing (?) like, at least the failures didn't even matter since the car wasn't title-worthy in the second half of the season anyway. to me it would've been worse if the car HADN'T been nerfed, was title-worthy the entire season, and they (and only they) fucked it

tl;dr: Toilet Paper is the cause of lots of forest loss and is entirely unsustainable due to its current reliance on "virgin" paper. To help prevent this, buy TP made from alternative sources like bamboo or recycled paper.

oh but in terms of observed dynamics, one thing i remember very clearly from 2022 is when crbgate was happening and jenson was talking to skysports about it like "i've been through this situation before but actually i was wrong and selfish 😊 oscar shouldn't make enemies in his career so early when he's literally never driven in a formula 1 car ❤️" in that lowkey condescending (affectionate) way of his which was hilarious to me fsr because like. well to be clear Many pundits/tps/etc. were speaking presumptuously on oscar's situation and often it was through this lens of "surely one team can't be that fucking stupid and incompetent right?" (spoiler alert: well you know) but Still... because mark webber (we'll get to him) was actually managing oscar correctly and oscar WASN'T as stupid and brash as young jense. similarly people love comparing oscar's driving style to jenson's and i remember once during an fp session someone doing it right before oscar went off and jenson was like ...Okay then. :) HLSDFH like i do think jenson rates and likes oscar don't get me wrong i just also think that 1) jenson is obnoxiously obsessed with and loyal to lando and 2) jenson can get carried away with the Narratives like any other pundit but... he's also pretty clearheaded and objective with where oscar's current level is and doesn't ever praise him senselessly, which interests me because of how much old people adore oscar and hype him up. also the first f1 race oscar ever watched was melb 2009 which jenson won... guy who meticulously studied canada 2009 as race prep two weeks ago 🧡

basically the idea of the fic really is that Literally Everyone Ever is obsessed with jenson button except for oscar. and Literally Everyone Ever around jenson's age is charmed by oscar except for jenson. and oscar's like ok yeah he's cool but what is so great about this guy... has logan texting him going all mate seriously he's actually so nice 🥰 and lando turns beet red every time jenson so much as breathes near him in the paddock and he and alex get along swimmingly and everyone he talks to seems to think jenson is the funniest guy alive. he's like ??? PULL YOURSELVES TOGETHER.

also what i love about jenson is that he's so good at playing mindgames by never succumbing to them in the first place. which is a distinctly oscar piastri quality... so like i love the idea of their banter/dynamic being very insincere but in this distinctly light-hearted and polite way??? like they're both clearly trying to fuck with each other but they're having fun with it. ok actually sorry let me just paste an entire text post. also this is something chel and i discussed once but the hilarity of jenson and mark is that jenson treats the young brits like they're his mates but actually maintains some sort of moral emotional/physical distance whereas markw is out here like calling oscar his kid and pup while being... i mean. You know. hasklfdh anyway i LOVE their dynamic in the context of jendo/jb81/814 etc. because while jenson and mark are friends mark will always be that loser who never got his wdc and lost to seb every time... which really the latter is the most embarrassing to him imo because jenson lowkey rates beating lewis higher than winning his championship.

tbh i kind of gave up on this a while back but then miami brought everything back because JENSON was there and then i was just like >>>THE DELICIOUSNESS OF JENSON BEING THERE FOR LANDO'S WIN AND OSCAR FLOPPING... there is nothing more delicious to me than sleeping together about another person imo. and it first happens in silvo or something because they have all these misdirected feelings about lando who is Inaccessible to them for different reasons (jenson: thinks he's being an upstanding citizen by only lusting after lando from afar / oscar: has been told by mark webber to not hook up with a teammate. never said anything about old rivals though) and then it keeps continuing because oscar's season kind of goes to shit once they hit the americas and well... you get the gist.
