Artist: Phoebe Boswell
4me4you recently had the pleasure of visiting Hope 93 Art Gallery, which featured the artist Phoebe Boswell.
Boswell is a versatile, multi-disciplinary artist whose work is rooted in drawing but extends across animation, sound, video, writing, interactivity, and performance.
Her artistic practice frequently inhabits imaginative realms, where black feminism serves as a tool for envisioning radical new worlds. Boswell's work challenges the objectifying gaze, confronting viewers with a direct, empowered stare.
She received the Special Prize at the 2017 Future Generation Art Prize, which led to her participation in the Collateral Events programme at the 57th Venice Biennale.
Her work is held in numerous museum collections globally, and she has exhibited at prestigious international galleries, including Gagosian, Kristin Hjellegjerde, Carroll / Fletcher, and Tiwani Contemporary.

Soo KM(current MC name is Kath Meau) is light fantasy.
Basically there are Vampires, werewolves, and magic. The setting is the peninsula MonStro plus a nearby arcapoligo called the Diadam Islands. The 3 ‘races’(Vam, Were, and Man) live there with their own genral areas. There is also hints of a lost ancient civilization and its lost magic tech(working on it). Slight twist reveal, it was 2 waring civilizations.
The 5 ‘culturals’ are the Vampires who are far East Asian(Japanese with maybe Koreon or Tiwanis mixed in?), the Humans who would likely just be Eorpeon or North American type, the 2 ancient civilizations are Chinese and Greek-Roman respectively.
Notice how 1 is missing? Yeah, take a wild gyess… yep Weres are or guess WERE Indigenous coded. I will need to change that if I ever actually start writing this again.
Chinese and other Asian cultures i feel alright taking inspiration from due to both better access to information and less likely to Mess up or insult. But Indigenous? Nope nope. But to actually explain what I guess the current version is…(☹️im sorry in advance).
There are 3 ‘tribes’ of the werewolves: Mountain, Island, and Forest. Kath is a forest Were with Island were blood and Her love interest is a Mountain Were.
The cultures that the 3 groups would take for are likely (NorthA)First Nation People(Forest), Polynesian (island), and Inuit+Tibetan(MT).
As said, im less scared of insulting Chinese and Japanese due to one only being astetic and thr other more being generic Asian setting type. But the werewolfs im unsure how to handle them respectfully.
And to beclear, the the reason they are Indigenous coded is because there a thems to the 3 cultures of Monstro. Humans are Traders, Vamps Self isolates, and the Weres are living with Nature.
There are other things in the settings but really thats the basics

"Everyone’s lives would be improved if we viewed mothering not solely as an automatic biological response but also as an active cultural decision which could be adapted into a shared practice. The idea of monomaternalism confines women. To avoid outdated power dynamics, we ought to view parenting as a holistic practice with interchangeable roles." – Miranda Forrester

Interview with Eva Langret, Director of Frieze London and Head of Exhibitions at Tiwani Contemporary.
She talks about the importance of the space and how it affects the artwork, as well as having a reliable team of curators that work together. Considering the exhibition within a broader socio-political context creates links between artists within the wider contemporary art world.

9, 10, 23 for Tiwani!
9: What maladaptive behavioral models in your OC’s personality do they have to struggle with the most?
Uhhh stubbornness, I guess? Like, Tiwani seems pretty stable and put-together, and even resilient--to an extent. But some of her behaviors are downright foolhardy, and undertaken without good reason. Like, as an example: Tiwani doesn’t use a prosthetic hand, despite prosthetics being pretty standard on Alternia. She believes that doing so would signal ‘weakness,’ so she tries to make do with only one hand, just through sheer stubbornness and force of will.
Another example is her mutually destructive kismessitude with Wartag, which she’s only JUST NOW starting to realize is unhealthy. For the longest time she just thought she had to ‘tough it out,’ or that their conflict was somehow making her stronger. Not so! She needs to learn to take care of herself, instead of going after all these ‘challenges’ just to prove that she can.
10: What type of people does your OC idolize the most?
Charismatic gang leaders! Tiwani wants to be one of these, but she hasn’t had much luck. If she knew about, like, Mindfang and her pirate fleet, she would definitely consider her to be a role model. She just wants to be a Beautiful Crime Lady and attract other Beautiful Crime Ladies, and she will do anything to make this dream a reality. People who have the discipline, willpower, and charisma to achieve personal excellence and make people obey their commands to carry out a greater goal, just generally, will always have respect from Tiwani, regardless of what their goals may be...for the most part.
23: Does your OC have a criminal record?
Probably, but not enough for her to actually be hunted by anyone important. To her frustration, her attempts at lawbreakery seem to have gone largely unnoticed--both by Alternian law enfrocement, and by other criminal enterprises. This is largely because she doesn’t do much criminal activity by herself, and is hoping to create a gang that will basically do all the dirty work for her. I’ve mentioned it before, but Tiwani tries to play both sides of the law enforcement field--she engages in some contractual criminal activities, but also acts as a bounty hunter, bringing in other criminals. Tiwani is just largely fascinated by criminal procedure and contracts, and will agree to do pretty much anything as long as the paperwork is in order. She’s the epitome of ‘just business.’
