At the heart of Monsters, Chambers, and Trapdoors is the idea of identity, explored through figures imbued with subtle mythological and fantastical traits. By saturating her creations with elements of the unreal, Dymock urges us to question not only the nature of heroism and monstrosity but also how we perceive ourselves and others. One recurring motif in her recent works is the pairing of figures—often physically close yet emotionally distant. Drawing inspiration from Plato’s concept of the soulmate, where humans were once unified beings with four arms, four legs, and two heads, Dymock explores the aching separation and yearning that followed their division by Zeus. These paired figures, while physically intimate, convey a palpable sense of detachment, creating a tension that highlights the alienation and objectification of the human body. The cold, metallic surfaces of these figures further emphasise their non-human qualities, evoking a chilling sense of robotic detachment.

4me4you had the opportunity to visit Rise Art Gallery, where the spotlight was on the artist Nelson Makamo - “IN SEARCH OF INTERNAL JOY“.
Nelson Makamo uses his art to amplify the voices of the children from his birthplace, Limpopo, South Africa's northernmost province. Through various expressive mediums such as acrylic, print, watercolour, and charcoal, Makamo creates vivid and heartfelt portraits that capture the essence of childhood. His work defies common stereotypes, offering a fresh perspective on African youth.
In Search of Internal Joy Makamo’s art focuses on the radiance and hope of African children, rather than portraying them as victims of poverty, a theme often mistakenly associated with rural African youth.
In works like Golden Moments, he highlights the joy and beauty of childhood, evoking a sense of eternal optimism. This approach earned him a feature in TIME magazine, which described his work as “The Art of Optimism.” Makamo's portraits aim to shift the global perception of African children, showcasing their strength, determination, and resilience.

His distinctive use of mixed media and unique mark-making techniques sets his style apart. A particularly special aspect of his work is his frequent depiction of his 12-year-old cousin, Mapule Maoto, whose presence adds warmth and intimacy to his creations.

4me4you Features “monotonous routines”.
ARTIST: RetroFuture_Dystopia
4me4you proudly features digital artist Brice Rozenfarb, also known by his Instagram handle @RetroFuture_Dystopia. Brice invites us into a world where the future is a 1960s dream, forever frozen in time. In this AI-powered photographic documentary titled "Retro-Futuristic Dystopia: A 1960s AI Odyssey," Brice crafts a world where robots dominate and society hums with eerie efficiency, yet remains devoid of human emotion and creativity. The result is a hauntingly beautiful alternate reality—a blend of nostalgia for a bygone era and the advanced technology of a distant future.
Behind this mesmerising visual narrative is Brice, a Paris-based creative who has spent over a decade honing his skills as an art director. His deep-rooted passion for diverse artistic mediums—ranging from film photography to graphic design—has driven him to constantly push creative boundaries. When he turned his attention to artificial intelligence as a new tool for artistic exploration, Brice began to envision a world where the elegance and optimism of the 1960s collided with a robotic, dystopian future.
Drawing inspiration from iconic pop culture visuals like "Star Wars," "Chappie," and "2001: A Space Odyssey," Brice masterfully blends these influences with the retro-futuristic aesthetic to produce something both familiar and innovative. His admiration for artists like Simon Stålenhag, known for merging sci-fi with everyday life, has also shaped his work.
"Retro-Futuristic Dystopia: A 1960s AI Odyssey" is a testament to Brice Rozenfarb's unique vision, merging vintage aesthetics with cutting-edge AI technology. The result is a compelling narrative that resonates deeply with both nostalgia and the ever-evolving possibilities of the future.

4me4you features the artist Cotton Tsumi, also known as COTOH, who has been shaping the contemporary art scene since 2017.
Originally starting his career as an illustrator, he quickly gained recognition through collaborations with musicians and apparel brands. Over time, Tsumi evolved into a contemporary artist, exploring the dynamic intersections between digital illustration and traditional art forms.
COTOH’s artistic vision is rooted in the idea that there are no inherent boundaries between digital illustrations and contemporary art. With this philosophy in mind, he has successfully crafted a body of work that blends mass-consumed illustration styles with traditional printmaking techniques.
His pieces incorporate a diverse range of methods, including silkscreen, giclee prints, ukiyo-e woodblock prints, and hand-painted works, each offering a unique twist on their respective processes. The ukiyo-e woodblock prints are the only exception, maintaining a sense of historical authenticity.

He challenges the conventional view of such practices as purely commercial, presenting them as valid forms of artistic expression. His work refuses to be confined by any single style or approach, constantly evolving and adapting.
COTOH’s exploration offers a refreshing contrast to the more widely seen depictions of urban female characters in contemporary art, presenting a fresh perspective that continues to push boundaries.
