Beat Depression Without Medication - and feel awesome!
Regardless of where you call home, we all end up going through some sort of depression at least once in our lives. Some more than others and some a lot less. It is important to learn how to beat depression without medication just in case you don't really want to jump on the medication train or your train is approaching the station for you to get off.
Importance of combating depression without medication
Combating depression without medication can sometimes feel like you are cutting down a maple tree with a butter knife but it can be done. It will take a while but what you should do to ease the process is find something you are interested in and pour yourself into it. It is important to combat depression without medication because you don't want to have to rely on something that could be considered a crutch all your life. When ever possible it is always best to tackle depression without the use of something requiring a prescription.
Depression while taking medication can often increase the risk of a depressed mood (i.e. sad, empty, hopeless), can promote insomnia or hypersomnia nearly every day, give you feelings of worthlessness or inappropriate guilt almost every day, and may even lead you to thoughts of suicide. In other words, if you don't combat depression without the need for medication, you might be doing more harm than good. Please note: that not all medication have chances to increase the risk of any of what was mentioned. Everyone is different and every medication affects everyone differently. Talk to you doctor about what's right for you. Man do I sound like some sort of weird infomercial trying to sell you something late night on TV. Ha.

Go for a walk
Learn an instrument
Take a deep breath and think
Study something
Play a game
Draw or be creative
Hang with friends
Write a rant
Watch a funny video
Read a book
(Bonus) Laugh
Write where ever you please: Facebook, Notepad, blog, etc. Just rant. It doesn't have to be published. This process helps get your thoughts out where you can choose what to do with them from there.
Not one of those videos that cause you to wish you were like that person.
Make it something you are interested in.
This one is my favorite to do. Basically, just take a deep breath and laugh as you exhale. Laughter is the best medication after all; so why not use it?
Medication is not evil
Some people will tell you that medication is the work of the devil and that you shouldn't use it. Of course, I don't anyone who says this except for your religious peanut butter-filled corn husks but if you do come across someone who tells you that medication is part of science and it isn't the natural thing to do; just ignore them.
Conclusion
In today's article, a lousy one at that, we discussed what can happen if you don't attempt to combat depression without medication, increased risk of more depressed mood or other symptoms. Everyone is different and medication affects people differently. We talked about a list of what you can do to treat depression and lastly I spoke about the importance of medication in case you really can't do without it.
