What started as simply "you know what? Fuck this. I need a weapon to kill Anubis to get to the City Of Gold again because I fucking died before I could unlock Au. I'm robbing the Black Market." eventually became a new headcanon, as follows;
Demi holds a major grudge against Guy after the way she was treated in Spelunky HD (or rather how the player is able to treat her).
Every time she's been saved, she has been grateful and given him a kiss (and a health point). But he's also used her as a human shield against Arrow Traps, sacrificed her to Kali, used her as worm bait, brain-fried her with the Scepter (usually by accident), and in the end, when they all all escaped the caves, Guy chose to go out with Tina Flan instead of her.
Death may have lost its meaning in these caves, but given that the game keeps track of all of them, it's only logical that the spelunkers themselves do to.

This isn’t a request or anything but I wanted to know if you agree with a headcannon of mine. Okay, I feel like Carmey watches tv with you when he can and it’s a bonding thing to watch reality tv. It’s quality time that decompresses and no one needs to speak, that is so Carmey coded.
So, I think that Carmen would watching cooking competition shows for inspiration, but I think his gulity pleasure is the junior British bake off because it’s very calm and no one is mean at all. I think that might be a dad Carmen thing to actively do things that make him calm, like that after a long rough shift at the bear. And hands massaging his hair as he is trying to stay up.
omg yes or just imagining one night at the bear, you decide to do a "team bonding" type exercise, maybe in the style sorta like chopped. one vs one, with different people as judges.
carmen vs sydney. three courses: apps, main, dessert. first mystery item they have to use is those shitty mandarin oranges that come in a plastic cup.
carmen makes a scallop and carrot puree spoon app blends the oranges in with the carrot for sweetness. syd makes a summer kale salad with fresh fruit and fresh oranges, but uses the juice to make a vinaigrette.
second round you use cotton candy grapes as your mystery item, the whole team cheering and egging them on while they try to cook something in the short amount of time. carmen makes a chuteny out of the grapes and serves it with rice and naan. sydney goes with a chicken salad sandwich on sourdough, a sweet and spicy sort of recipe.
last round is dessert and you choose asparagus, mainly because you hate it and you want to see what they come up with. sydney pulls out a sort of asparagus flan that disguises the taste. carmen attempted to do an asparagus tart that you gagged when you ate lol.
sydney was the winner, easily, the whole kitchen hyping her up before it was tina and marcus' turn.
even you and richie (notoriously the worst cooks in the kitchen lol) when head and head at one round. the ingredient being black garlic, which you used to make fancy butter noodles and richie used to make garlic bread... both weren't great but the staff got a kick out of watching the two of you scream and run around the kitchen.

Author's Note: This is an old fic that I recently shelved. I might come back to it, but I figured I could post it here so you can enjoy it.
Plot: You are a loyal shopper at Edy's Bodega, but not because you like his merchandise. No, it's because you like him. And you like teasing him and flirting with him too, which he begins to notice. However, this particular day he beats you at your own game and you end up agreeing to a date with him at your place over a traditional Puerto Rican meal.
Disclaimer: Edy isn't married in this fic and doesn't have children. He's still a flirt and likes to date younger women. Reader is in her late 20s, Edy is in his late 40s, early 50s in this fic.
SFW, Flirting, Mild Touching, Teasing
---
His eyes were on you as soon as you walked into his Bodega. His focus angled right at your hips as you purposely twisted them in his line of sight.
You knew he was looking closely at your curves, imagining all the things he could do to your body, so you didn't mind giving him a show.
It was nothing new between you two. Ever since you became a regular at Edy's Bodega, it was always the same thing.
You picked up a couple of items, teased Edy for looking a little too hard at you, then you left him with a kiss you blew his way.
But today you wanted to switch things up. Today, you wanted to give him a show and be a bit more flirtatious.
You just felt emboldened to do so after he stopped dating another young lady, Juanita.
She was such a bitch and you hated seeing him kissing all over her and lovingly stroking her silky curls. It drove you insane.
But you would always notice him still stealing a glance from you and still watching your every move.
It was like he got off on teasing you, but this time you were gonna be the one teasing.
Purposely, you bent down to get a small bag of yellow rice, poking your ass out as much as you could.
But alas, he didn't see you.
He was too busy talking to someone trying to buy a lotto ticket.
You cursed to yourself, but slowly stood back up. Your breasts jiggled a bit in the process, which he did notice.
You saw him smirking your way and seductively licking his lip as he counted the money he just received.
You smirked to yourself before you went over to the canned foods aisle to pick up a can of pigeon peas.
You were not familiar with pigeon peas, but you still picked them up because you were planning on trying to invite him to your home for dinner.
Tina, your favorite cashier at the Bodega, was fully aware of your little cat and mouse game with Edy so she immediately told you his favorite foods.
That being jibarito, arroz con gandules, and for dessert (other than you possibly), caramel flan.
You didn't know the first thing about Puerto Rican cuisine, but that didn't mean that you weren't gonna try to impress him any way.
However, your plan to stay both seductive and cool basically failed when you made some other cans fall off the shelf.
You cursed at yourself for doing that before you looked up and saw Tina trying to come over to help you.
But before she could, Edy told her that he had it. She smirked and looked over at you before she told Edy that's fine and went back to her cash register.
You gulped nervously seeing him confidently walk over to you.
So much for you teasing him today because he was driving you insane with his overpowering aura.
And his beautiful brown eyes never left yours, even when he purposely brushed your hand to pick up the same can you were trying to put back.
Your heart started to race when you realized how close he was to you.
Your eyes moved over to his groomed salt-and-pepper beard as you resisted the urge to kiss his plump lips right then and there.
But instead looked at his gorgeous, soft locks, wishing you could run your fingers through it like Juanita used to do.
"You need to be more careful, mamacita," he softly said. "I don't want you to hurt yourself...especially that beautiful face of yours."
You felt like you were gonna burst at his comment and little pet name for you, but instead you just replied,
"It's actually Diana."
"Huh?"
"Diana. My name is Diana."
"Oh, like the princess?"
"Yes, that's who I was named after."
"Hmm, fitting name. Although, you are prettier than she," he said with a flirty wink.
You blushed, but put your head down so he couldn't see. He did see though and just smirked at you again.
But then he noticed what the cans that you knocked over were. He held one of the last cans on the floor and cocked his thick eyebrow at you before asking,
"Pigeon peas, huh? You don't seem like the type to like these."
"I'm willing to try new things," you immediately said before you noticed him also look over to your basket.
"Yellow rice," he observed. "If I didn't know any better, I assume you're trying to make arroz con granules."
"Nothing gets passed you, Edy," you teased. "Yeah, I wanted to learn how to make Puerto Rican food. I figured that and jiberitos would be a good start."
"Jiberitos too?" he asked puzzled as he put the can back, still looking at you. "Wow, you are a woman with good taste."
"Edy, stop it," Tina said.
"Stop what, Tina? Aren't we just having some playful banter?"
"Playful banter," she mockingly said with an eye roll. "Edy, isn't it obvious?"
"What's obvious?" he asked with a cheeky smirk.
"Diana probably wants to make dinner for you. You don't find it odd that she's purposely trying to cook food you like."
"How did you know I liked jiberitos and arroz con granules?" he curiously asked you, his eyes staring right into your soul.
"I asked Tina," you nonchalantly said. "I figured I could cheer you up after your breakup with Juanita."
"Cheer me up?" he asked with a chuckle. "I broke up with her. Because I didn't like her as much as I like you."
"Wait, so you admit you like me?"
"I always have," he confidently admitted. "Although I'm sure you knew that. I can never take my eyes off of you."
"I just needed to hear that from you. I thought you were just a tease," you lied.
He chuckled.
"So, when are you planning on inviting me to dinner?"
"Tomorrow night. 7 if you're able."
"Hmm, I don't know. I'm a busy man. I mean being the most sought out bachelor in Chicago keeps..."
"He doesn't have anything going on," Tina quickly said. "Trust me, he's been waiting for a while to shoot his shot with you. He'll be there."
"Tina, must you always butt into my flirting?"
"Yeah, because I have to keep you grounded. You're not the gift to all ladies like you think you are," she huffed with a dramatic eye roll.
"Whatever," he responded before he looked back at you with a slick smile and a twinkle in his eye.
"I'll be there."
"Great," you cheered a little too enthusiastically. You suddenly felt embarrassed until you felt his big hand rubbing your back to comfort you.
"I love your enthusiasm," he suddenly said. "It's as gorgeous as your body and that lovely smile of yours."
"Oh, thanks," you said gushing on the inside. He chuckled again.
"Would you like my help finding the other ingredients?"
"For the jiberitos?"
"Yes," he said, his delightful accent even deeper than before.
"Sure, I wouldn't mind the help...or the company," you seductively said.
Edy swiftly took that open opportunity and began to help you find everything else you needed to get for your dinner tomorrow. And while he was helping you, he started to get a little nostalgic and told you about the history of the Bodega.
"You know who used to make the best jiberitos?" he suddenly asked.
"Who?"
"My papá. Back when I was just a wee boy, my father was known for his jiberitos. He used to hand make them and sell them at the Bodega with my Uncle Julio."
"Wow, do you know how to make it like him?"
"I mean yes, but not as good," he joked with a hardy laugh. "Edy Sr. just had the magic touch when it came to cooking. I'm a decent cook, but I could never match the skills of my papá."
"Hmm, maybe you can help me make the jiberitos and we could see."
"I like that idea," he said cheekily, purposely brushing his big hand against your smaller hand.
You giggled.
"So you grew up helping around the store?"
"Yep, it was me and my younger sister, Julia. She was named after my uncle, if you couldn't tell," he said with a slight laugh. "We used to run around the store and play too and the customers loved us. They thought we were so cute."
"I bet," you cooed before you smiled at him.
"I enjoyed working at the Bodega so much that my papá handed me the keys when I was twenty or so. I didn't really know what else to do with my life, so I took the store. He still helped around of course, this store was his life. He actually died in his old rocking chair behind the lotto counter."
"Oh, I'm so sorry."
"Don't be. It wasn't your fault," he assured you. "I actually didn't realize he died. He was always so quiet when he slept. Tina was the one that actually realized he was dead."
"Wow, so I guess Tina's worked here for a while."
"She started working here because we were dating. We were high school sweethearts at one time...engaged even."
"I would have never guessed you two were an item."
"He wasn't much to write home about," Tina scoffed as you both walked over to Edy's counter. She was filing her nails at her checkout counter, popping her bubblegum loudly.
"I always wonder why you're still single," Edy remarked.
"Hahahaha," she retorted. "You were always so funny."
"She wasn't always snippy like that with me," he whispered to you. "I mean why do you think she's still here?"
"I heard that, Eduardo," she sneered. "And I'm only still here because I want to stay here."
"It's because I pay you well. Just admit it."
"I'd rather choke on Clamato juice," she huffed.
You just giggled. It wasn't the first time you had heard them go back and forth like that.
They really did act like an old married couple.
"Alright, your total for today is $20.45, Mamacita. Will that be cash or credit?"
"You know I always pay credit," you said with a laugh as you retrieved your card from your purse and handed it to him.
"I still like to ask," he said as he swiped your card. "I want to make sure I'm ready if you switch it up on me."
"I probably will never do that. It's just more convenient to have a card."
"I couldn't agree more," he said before he handed you back your card with a big smile on his face. The receipt printed out after and he handed that to you as well but made sure to kiss your hand, making you blush.
"Thank you, Edy," you said with a big smile.
"No, no," he started before he moved from behind the counter. "Thank you, Mamacita. I can't wait to make jiberitos with you."
Your heart beat so hard in your chest when you saw how happy he was while he was saying that. And you really were swept away in your joy when he tightly hugged you afterwards.
He smelled of mint and mango, two contrasting scents that he managed to pull off. His heart was beating just as fast as yours and he felt so plush and warm.
You had to stop yourself from touching him. It was too soon and Tina was still standing near yall.
"See you tomorrow night," he seductively whispered in your ear before his lips met your blushed cheek.
"Yes...umm...see you tomorrow night," you stuttered, reluctantly removing yourself from his hug.
You both just smiled at each other again, until a couple minutes later. Then you left him with a blown away kiss and a wink.
And as you walked back to your apartment, all you could think about was him and what he was gonna do you to you tomorrow.
Because you were more than ready to get to know him on a more physical level.

Courage: I don’t like pudding…
Momoko: Papyrus?
Papyrus: …It was Tina.
Tina: *with pudding in hand* Yeah it was!

What kind of a organization do you think Lally, Dumbledore and Nicolas Flan are part of. When Dumbledore told Lally to attend the banquet because there was going to be a assassination, she acted like that was normal. Both Newt and Jacob looked scared to death, but Lally acted likes this is something she does every day. I am starting to think that Lally is a spy or she real works for some kind international secret service agency.
Lally is the person that Nicolas Flan called when they were in Paris. They all communicate with each other through books. There is some kind of a Underground organization that they are all part of. I know Lally is a charms professor at Livermorny, but I think the teaching job is just a cover. I don't think she is just working with Dumbledore first army, because she was communicating with Nicolas Flan in the last movie. I think Lally really works for some kind of international wizarding organization. It feels like she has a lot of experience with missions like this, and Dumbledore seemed completely confident in her abilities to stop the assassination attempt.
Lally is the person who kept calm through the entire situation, Jacob, Newt and Theseus all start flipping out. I definitely think she is some kind of a special agent, working for some secret wizarding organization.
I liked Lally interaction with Newt; he seems so happy to see her when she arrived on the train. With the exception of Jacob, I feel like Lally is the only other friend Newt has. I also felt like Lally presence there seem to encourage Newt and to help him get through this mission. Most especially with the absence of Tina.
I hope this will be answered. I don't think that Lally's job is a cover. Similarly to how Albus being a teacher or NF being an alchemist is not a cover. They all have their occupations and are also members of the organisation. I think it's meant to connect wizards who are committed to prevent extremist wizarding acts around the world. NF was not necessarily calling Lally. She was the one present at the moment, but he was searching throughout the book for anyone present until he found her being available. She and Dumbledore have clearly cooperated before as you said. In the book there was also someone with the last name 'Tao'. I wonder if it's Liu Tao who was a candidate in the election. Fingers crossed, that we get to see more.

So honestly I love this idea because I haven’t thought that much into it. I always have just assumed that Dumbledore has friends or acquaintances he’s worked with in the past who have steered him toward various people. Like someone, maybe her old Head of House, at Ilvermorny telling him about Lally and then she gets inducted into the precursor to the Order of the Phoenix. Flamel is similarly recruited in that way. Based on what I remember from the HP books, Dumbledore was a highly respected guy outside of the Ministry so I assume that he’s built up a network of acquaintances over the years that will jump into the fight at his call. As for Lally remaining calm, I just assumed that came with being a teacher. They see some crazy stuff.

[Previous Chapter] // [Next Chapter]
Chapter Summary: Tina and Santana have a long talk; Santana wishes she was better at comforting people.
Chapter 5: but some are sick of this grey
///
“If that’s anyone besides Santana don’t you dare come in!”
Santana rolls her eyes and eases the door open, finding Tina standing in front of the mirror of her vanity wearing only her tights and sports bra. “You know it’s a little suspicious that I’m allowed in here when you’re half-naked but your boyfriend’s not,” she comments idly.
Santana can see Tina roll her eyes in the mirror as she touches the mascara brush to her eyes one more time before capping the tube and dropping it on top of the pile of her makeup. “Mike doesn’t knock.”
“Still,” Santana repeats teasingly, “suspicious.”
Tina huffs out a laugh as she shakes her head. “Sure it is, you’re like the only other person who ever comes down here that’s not another principal or a dresser,” she says easily.
Santana hums in agreement. “And I’ve seen you in less, so,” she teases.
Tina just rolls her eyes as she tugs a loose shirt, turning and leaning her hip against the vanity, her arms crossed with a grin. “So is this an official visit?”
“Why do you need to know?”
“I wanna know if I can make fun of you or not.”
Santana snorts out a laugh. “As if it matters, we both know you’ll make fun of me either way,” she complains. Tina concedes with a wide, knowing grin. “But I have a couple notes to go over,” Santana continues, smacking the palm of her right hand with her notebook as she makes herself at home on Tina’s couch, propping her feet up on the coffee table. “So come sit.”
Tina laughs and crosses the room to collapse on the couch beside her best friend. Santana quickly flips through her notebook until she finds the pages she’s looking for, going over some blocking issues and a music cue that Schue missed last show that threw Tina off a little bit. Once she’s done she groans and lets her head loll onto the back of the couch, trying to roll out the tension in her neck. “I need a coffee,” she decides.
Tina smiles. “Lucky for you, Brittany went on a coffee run not too long ago, and she dropped an extra one off with me on the off chance that you dropped by.”
Santana’s smile is involuntary, and she tries not to let it be known how warm her cheeks are, but Tina’s not her best friend for nothing and she smirks at Santana knowingly as she crosses to the vanity to grab the two coffees sitting there.
“You got time to sit and drink it?” Tina asks.
Santana checks her watch as Tina hands over her coffee. “I mean, probably not, but no one should be unlucky enough to see me until I’m properly caffeinated, so sure.”
Tina laughs and resettles on the couch. “Good, I feel like I’ve barely seen you despite the fact that we’re in the same building like nine hours a day.” Santana grunts in acknowledgement as she gulps down a long sip of coffee, pleasantly surprised to find that it tastes exactly how she likes it; it’s far more lukewarm than hot, but just the fact that Brittany thought of her when getting coffee makes warmth settle in her stomach anyways. “I know we haven’t had time to talk about it since Thanksgiving,” Tina continues, “but did you think about Christmas?”
Santana sighs and drops her coffee to rest in her lap, shaking her head. “I appreciate the offer, but I think I’ll just stay home.” She doesn’t add the again, but they can both hear it, too loud in the following silence.
“You sure?” Tina murmurs, “My parents would love to have you. They haven’t stopped talking about the flan de queso you brought to Thanksgiving, and they keep asking if you’ve accepted the invitation yet.”
Santana shrugs uncomfortably. “You know I’m not great company this time of year,” she says.
Tina sighs but she knows Santana well enough to know when to drop it. They sip their coffee silently for a long moment, before Tina turns expectantly towards Santana. “Wanna know the latest gossip?” she whispers dramatically.
Santana laughs and sits up a little more, more than grateful for the change in subject, turning towards Tina and feeling like they’re back in their college dorm, sitting cross-legged on their beds and talking about everything and nothing. “Always. I gotta keep track of whatever dumbass decisions this company makes. Remember how awkward Sister Act was our second year of college?”
“God!” Tina laughs, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you turn so red than when Kate and Christian started going at it!”
“How the fuck was I supposed to know that they broke up the night before?” Santana protests, her voice bright with amusement. “They weren’t even in the scene together and somehow they managed to mortify me, the company, our professor, and the entire audience.”
“I’ve never seen you so lost for words before, but the look on your face when you had to chase after Christian and actually get on stage in the middle of the scene to physically restrain them? Priceless!”
Santana rolls her eyes at herself. “I was so scared Hagberg was going to fail me, but she just bought me a box of chocolates instead.” She takes a sip of her coffee before looking expectantly at Tina. “Now, what do I need to know about here to avoid being forced to jump on stage in the middle of The Nutcracker?”
Tina grins and sets her coffee down on the coffee table, and that’s how Santana knows she’s about to get a list of gossip a mile long. She feels like she needs to write down a list of all the connections, but she also has a feeling that it would get so tangled and convoluted it would be near impossible to understand. Rachel and Finn have a messy on-again-off-again relationship that somehow Quinn, that St. James guy from sound, and Brody from maintenance have all gotten mixed up in at some point; Puck and Quinn refuse to talk to each other unless absolutely necessary; Kurt and Blaine had a messy breakup and Karofsky somehow ended up caught up in it; Schue’s ex-wife showed up near the start of rehearsals claiming to be pregnant with his baby, and it made things super awkward when Emma, his new girlfriend, showed up at the same time; Shelby from the pit band was caught making out with Puck the second month of rehearsals; Sue, the theatrical producer, and Schue have a nasty rivalry still ongoing despite the fact that no one, not even them, know how or when it started; Kitty, The Snow Queen, dated Artie before he was hired, and then it got weird and they broke up and now don’t speak; Jane, Brittany’s understudy, and Mason, Mike’s understudy, have adorable but obvious crushes on each other, but both of them are too shy to do anything about it; Zizes once dated Puck, which makes Santana’s head spin because Zizes is pretty cool and Puck is so slimy.
Santana shakes her head slowly as she taps her empty coffee cup against her thigh. “This is insane,” she mutters. “I need a spreadsheet and seven hours just to figure half of this out.”
Tina laughs. “It’s pretty messy,” she agrees, “And it’s all only happened since we started rehearsals.”
Santana chews on her lip, wondering if she should even ask the question she so desperately wants to know, but before she can debate it she’s already asking it. She wishes she could blame her lack of filter on her exhaustion, but she finished her coffee ages ago. “What about Brittany?” she blurts, aiming for nonchalant but landing somewhere far past too-invested.
“Apparently she dated Artie for a little bit when they were in college, but she always conveniently ‘forgets’ that.” Tina laughs, her eyes sparkling knowingly as she regards her best friend. “But I haven’t heard of her dating anyone since we started rehearsals months ago, inside the company or out.”
Santana tries desperately to remain calm and collected with that information, but she can’t hide the way her stomach flips or the smile she’s fighting. “Cool,” she manages, leaning forward to put her empty coffee cup on the table and avoiding Tina’s eyes.
“What about you? Meet any nice girls lately?” Tina teases, grinning widely at how obvious Santana is about her little crush. “Besides Brittany,” she whispers, deftly dodging Santana’s flailing arm as she reaches out to smack her.
Santana draws back and rolls her eyes so hard that she shakes her head a little. “As if. You know I’m too busy with work.”
Tina just stares blankly at Santana, a thoroughly unimpressed look in her eyes. “Santana, I mean this from the bottom of my heart, but that’s bullshit. Work isn’t your entire life.” Santana scoffs but Tina doesn’t let her shut down. “Listen, I totally understand if you just don’t feel like dating anyone right now, but you can’t use work as an excuse.”
“Hey, I went on a date when I was covering for the stage manager on Anastasia back in August!” Santana protests, but as soon as the words leave her mouth she knows it’s a weak argument.
“What? The girl from that startup band? You went on one date and never mentioned her again,” Tina says, and Santana knows that, no matter how much she wants to protest, she can’t argue that point. “What was even her name?”
Santana opens her mouth but finds her mind has gone completely blank. “Uh, Dina?”
“Dana?”
“No wait, wasn’t it like a unisex name or something? Daniel?”
“Daniella?”
“Dani!” Santana shouts, snapping her fingers and pointing at Tina with a proud grin for finally remembering the name. “It was Dani!”
“Right!” Tina’s satisfied expression turns sly. “You know, this just proves my point. You need to find a nice girl whose name you can actually remember. Like maybe Brittany.”
“Oh, shut up,” Santana says with an eye roll, flustered and bashful.
There’s movement from the hallway, the sound of someone dropping something bouncy and heavy footsteps as they chase after it. Tina quickly stands up and crosses the dressing room, sticking her head out into the hallway and looking both ways; if someone just broke a prop she feels the need to warn them before Santana finds out and goes on the war path. When she doesn’t see anyone she just shrugs and closes the door. “You’re not getting out of this conversation,” Tina threatens as she turns around.
Santana plays with the notebook in her hands. “I’m too busy with still learning this show, you know that.”
Tina studies her for a long moment and Santana fidgets under her scrutiny. “I’m not going to push it,” Tina says slowly, “But I think you deserve to let yourself be happy.” Santana sucks in a quick breath and resolutely doesn’t look at Tina. Her first instinct is to argue and get defensive, but she can’t quite get the words to form in her mouth. Tina sighs and crosses back to the couch, sitting down beside Santana a little closer than she normally would, ducking her head down under Santana’s until Santana is forced to meet her eyes. “It’s been four years,” she whispers, “She would want you to be happy. Whether that’s with some nice girl or with some new hobby or whatever, it doesn’t really matter. But this,” Tina pauses and Santana’s eyes cut away from hers, “this relentless, constant pace you’ve set for yourself isn’t healthy. When was the last time you actually took time off that wasn’t a no show day?”
Santana can feel the tremble in her chin and she chokes down the thickness she can feel in her throat, choking her. Tina shifts on the couch until she can wrap an arm around Santana and draw her into her embrace. She wants to struggle against her best friend’s arm, but Tina’s always given the best hugs. “I just don’t want to see you burnout,” Tina continues.
Santana lets herself be held for a moment before she shakes Tina off and stands abruptly. “I’ve gotta finish giving notes,” she rasps.
Tina sighs but nods. “Half hour is coming up soon anyways,” she agrees, “And I’ve gotta get Kurt to fix some things on my skirt.”
Santana ducks her head as she crosses the room, barely giving Tina a second glance. Tina just shakes her head and lets her friend go, staring at the empty coffee cups on the coffee table and hoping that she didn’t just cause Santana to close herself off again.
“Tina,” Santana suddenly calls from the doorway, waiting until Tina glances up at her before continuing, “I know you worry. I’m just— Work keeps my mind off of her, you know? When I’m busy I don’t think about her as much, especially this month.” Tina’s face crumples a little and she nods in understanding. “But you’re right, I could probably use a break,” she admits, “The next no show day is Monday. We should actually do something, all three of us, instead of me spending the my only day off working anyways. Maybe we can go to the mall and do some Christmas shopping?”
Tina brightens and smiles. “That sounds really good,” she says.
Santana shifts awkwardly before giving her friend a small smile. “Thanks for— For looking out for me, or whatever.”
Tina laughs, knowing that sometimes it’s best to just let Santana stumble through her emotions without too much teasing. “It’s practically my second job by this point,” she says easily, “Now you better go and finish yours.”
Santana rolls her eyes but sends Tina a fond, grateful smile before slipping out the door and heading down the principal hallway towards the stage.
//
As the evening wears on, Santana decides to just give notes before the show tomorrow because she’s so tired from running around the entire show trying to deal with the technical issues they’ve been having with the flies. Karofsky still has no idea what is happening with them, even after him and Santana messed with them for about forty minutes after the show. He offered to stay even later to try and fix them, and while Santana appreciated the offer, she just sent him and the rest of the automaton crew home, telling them meet her a couple hours earlier than usual tomorrow so they can figure it out.
She’s not sure why she ends up in the principal hallway; she knows Mike and Tina have already left, and she doesn’t have anything she needs to check on since she’s giving notes tomorrow, but her feet lead her down the stairs before she realizes where she’s going. She figures she’ll just check in on whoever is still lingering down there, but because she’s alone she can’t quite hide the fact that she’s only really hoping to check in with one person.
Most of the doors are closed and locked as she wanders down the hallway. She runs into Mason, who is just heading out after looking around for Mike to ask him a couple questions. Santana chats with him for a little bit and promises to let Mike know he was looking for him before waving goodbye and heading further down the hallway. The lights are a little dimmed, and as she heads for the end of the hallway she can hear a muffled conversation. She slows as she approaches the only door that’s cracked open; the lights to Brittany’s dressing room cast the hallway around her door a little brighter, and Santana stops just before she reaches the door.
She’s about to turn around and leave, figuring she can just talk to Brittany talk tomorrow when she’s giving notes, it’s not like she ever has many to give her anyways so she’ll definitely be able to spend a couple extra minutes with her just talking, when she hears a sniffle. She freezes and waits for a long moment, Brittany’s voice distorted and muffled by her door. When she hears that sniffle again, followed by a choked sob, something in Santana’s chest shifts and shatters a little at the sound.
She’s pushing the door open and entering the dressing room before she realizes it, and Brittany glances up at her in shock. They stand there staring, wide-eyed and worried, at each other for long drawn out moments. Brittany still has her phone pressed to her ear, tears streaming down her face and making her skin shine wetly against the redness blotching her face. “Uh, I’ll call you back, mom,” she mumbles, and now that her voice isn’t muffled by the door Santana can hear exactly how tight and wet it is. “No, no, it’s fine. Just the stage manager. I’ll call you when I get home.” She pauses, sniffling, while her mom says something over the phone. “Yeah, I will. Love you too.” She hangs up and suddenly Santana becomes aware of how rude it was for her to barge into Brittany’s dressing room like that, but she looks so heartsick that Santana can’t find it in herself to regret it; no one should be alone when they look so miserable.
“Sorry,” Brittany chokes, scrubbing furiously at her face, “I was just—”
“No, Britt,” Santana interrupts, taking a couple quick steps forward, “I’m sorry for eavesdropping and barging in here but are— Are you okay?”
Brittany looks about ready say yes, even though they both know how obvious of a lie it would be, before her face falls and she slowly shakes her head. Something deep in Santana’s chest aches at the look on Brittany’s face.
“Was this— Was this the thing you were sad about yesterday?” Santana whispers. Brittany nods hopelessly and Santana sucks in a breath. “Oh, Britt, I’m really sorry.” Brittany gives her a small wavering smile, but it drops as her eyes fall to the floor. “Do you want to talk about it?”
Brittany takes a deep, steadying breath. “I— Um— That was my mom,” she manages to whisper, “They just had to put our cat down.” Santana sucks in a breath; she’s never had a pet before, they were too expensive and high maintenance for her mom, who was a full time shift worker, when they lived in Ohio, and their apartment didn’t allow pets once they moved to New York, but she remembers how devastating it was when Tina’s family had to put down their dog in their second year of college. “He’s just— We’ve had him since I was eight,” Brittany explains in a croak, “He’s been in our family longer than my sister has. And I— Sometimes I had a hard time at school with— Schoolwork and making friends and whatever. But he was just a cat, you know? He didn’t care if I was failing math or if Katie stopped talking to me, he just wanted treats and snuggles.”
“Britt, I’m so sorry,” Santana whispers, feeling completely and utterly inadequate. “I don’t— I’m just sorry.”
Brittany sniffles and blinks rapidly. When her eyes meet Santana’s they’re too bright and shiny and Santana wants so desperately to take away the grief cracking the beautiful blue there. “He’s been really sick for a couple weeks,” she explains, “But I haven’t been able to go home and see him because of the show and I’m just— I wish I could have seen him one more time before— Before—” she chokes herself off.
“Do you want a hug?” Santana blurts without thinking.
“What?” Brittany croaks.
Santana suddenly remembers that she’s technically only known this woman for five days, despite the fact that they spend most of their waking hours in the same building and seem to have an uncanny ability to run into each other outside of the theatre and that it feels a little bit like she’s known Brittany for years. “I— Never mind. I just— You looked so sad and— I mean hugs usually help so,” Santana trails off lamely.
Brittany chokes on a sob and nods. “A hug would be nice.”
Santana breathes out a sigh of relief that she didn’t just creep Brittany out and takes the last few steps to Brittany, hoping that a hug will make her feel better, even if it’s just for a moment. She hesitantly opens her arms and Brittany immediately falls into her; she fits against Santana easily, their ribs locking together as Brittany clings to her, muffling her sobs against Santana’s shoulder and neck. Santana sighs and soothingly runs her hands over Brittany’s back, just letting Brittany cry without saying anything, knowing how cathartic it can be to just let someone else take your weight for a while.
She’s not sure how, but they eventually end up huddled together on the couch, and Santana keeps her arms around Brittany until she sighs and swallows thickly, wiping at her eyes with trembling fingers. “This is just another reason December and Christmastime sucks,” she mutters.
Santana hesitates for a moment before tightening her arm around Brittany; Brittany melts further into Santana’s embrace, boneless and heavy, and any awkwardness Santana feels nudging at her consciousness eases. “You’ve got that right,” she sighs.

Chainlink & Uniswap Going To WAR!?
Boy, do I have a story for you guys and it puts two cryptocurrencies face to face. Battling for the future of Ethereum! There is no denying the problems Ethereum faces today, are worth multi-billion, even trillions of dollars. Everyone wants to solve them and enjoy their slice of the Ether pie. Well, my army loves, Warm Apple Pie you ready for our Americana because it’s time for Chico Crypto! Let’s begin this story off with cryptocurrency #1. Chainlink. I love me some stanky lank. Of course, the meme culture is awesome, but their oracle solution is the dominant oracle within the blockchain space, including for Ethereum.
A highly important organization to Chainlink is the ic3, the initiative for cryptocurrencies and contracts, which lists them as their #1 partner and donor, among the other heavyweights including Ethereum and its foundation. But who is the ic3? Going to their about me page they say about the organization “IC3 is an initiative of faculty members at Carnegie Mellon University, Cornell University, Cornell Tech, EPFL, ETH Zurich, UC Berkeley, University College London, UIUC and the Technion.
It’s based at the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute at Cornell Tech in NYC” It’s an academic-based organization, home-based at Cornell Tech in New Yawk on the recently developed Roosevelt Island, Cornell University’s answer to Silicon Valley. But who is both a leading professor at Cornell Tech and is a co-director of the IC3? Well, that is none other than Ari Juels. What else does Ari do? Let’s just watch the Flan Man himself introduce him in October of last year.
Yeah, Ari is also the Chief Scientist for Chainlink Labs, working on some of their oracle solutions and problems. He was brought on just before this, and guess what was one of the first materials juels ran with as a chainlink employee? He dropped it in September, 1 month before that Convo with Sergey. This blog and research Fair Sequencing Services: Enabling a Provably Fair DeFi Ecosystem. And let me tell you this blog has soo much to unpack. First, let’s unpack the problem, it’s front running on Dex’s and DeFi, and they give a research study, which first highlighted the problem.
Flash boys 2.0, which of course includes Ari Juels. But Flashboys doesn’t that sound similar to something we’ve been covering lately? Flashbots? Well well well, here we GO! Just look at the Flashboys 2.0 research paper originally dropped in 2019 #1 listed contributor to the paper is Philip Daian of Cornell Tech. Let’s just go to the Ether Research announcement blog post of Flashbots, they say “Flashbots is stewarded by Scott Bigelow, Phil Daian, Stephane Gosselin, Alex Obadia, and Tina Zhen.
We exist thanks to the continued support of members of the MEV Pi-Rate Ship and Paradigm” Phil Daian broke away from the Teacher. The padawan broke away from Jedi??? Well, it seems to me that may be the case, as Phil’s website still to this day says “I am advised by Ari Juels and based in New York City” Well maybe that is the reason for this article he put out in partnership with Coindesk over the weekend titled “Miners, Front-Running-as-a-Service Is Theft”.
..specifically calling out Flashbots in the post saying they systematically exploit users! While at the same time referencing the flash boys 2.0 paper, Ari and Phil wrote in collaboration together.
Then at the bottom, they kindly note Ari Juels is working on his own approach to fair sequencing at Chainlink labs. So who do you think responded to the piece by Ari Juels? Not Phil, but Stephane of Flashbots, the go step on Twitter! “This is the most ethically questionable hit piece I’ve read in a while. Maybe AriJuels should do research instead of using the media as a weapon against an OPEN SOURCE RESEARCH ORGANIZATION. Maybe he should consider disclosing conflicts of interest? Shaking My Head with a retweet of the article.
And here we go, one level deeper, I already disclosed the conflict of interest with Phil, but now it’s time for Stephane’s turn and the ties and connections just keep getting crazier. Remember from my video Monday, I posted that Stephane had been working on the front running with DEX problem for a while, since late 2018 early 2019 with lib submarine! Well, let’s just go back to its website. Libsubmarine.org defeating front running on Ethereum, it explains just how it does that, but at the bottom, it shows the contributors. They say “Lib Submarine is developed by Lorenz Breidenbach, Tyler Kell, Stephane Gosselin, and Shayan Eskandari.
Tumblr media
It then says “LibSubmarine is based on research conducted at IC3 by Lorenz Breidenbach, Phil Daian, Florian Tramèr, and Ari Juels” And this libsubmarine was part of the IC3. Now let’s just pull up the Fair Sequencing Services blog from Chainlink, right alongside this website as we can see 2 names from Lib Submarine are on the Chainlink Blog Ari Juels and Lorenz Breidenbach.
From the flash boats ether research blog post, we can see there are 2 names on there too. Stephane Gosselin and Phil Daian. This goes back in time, back to late 2018 and what it looks like to me, is the students learned quicker and expanded on the Jedi principles, and now the Jedi is mad, so he put out a misinformed article against them. But, Chico Crypto always thinks there is more to this than meets the eye.
And this ties into the flash boat backer, listed in the announcement blog…Paradigm. Yes Flashbots, is listed in Paradigms portfolio companies, right there. Paradigm is the powerhouse VC, who besides flash boats, is Uniswap’s lead investor and backer, besides the many other cryptos and DeFi based companies. Led by Coinbase Co-founder Fred Ehrsam, and Matt Haung. But how did Paradigm get its start?? Well, this 2020 Forbes article showed their initial backers. Of course, the title had two of them, but it said this about the firm“The pitch worked.
By October 2018, three of the highest-profile endowments, Harvard, Stanford, and Yale, had joined Sequoia in investing in the mysterious new firm Paradigm their first major forays into backing a crypto-focused fund.” Harvard, Stanford, and Yale’s endowments are invested in Paradigm and its portfolio companies. Cornell’s endowments are not invested. Cornell stayed out of crypto for the most part from what I could see, and this hurt them.
Cornell was at the bottom for Ivy League endowment performance for 2020, and as we can see from this blog that covered it, Harvard and Yale were listed as leaders, those that had invested in Paradigm. And again, Chico loves to find stuff no one else does. 1 day after the Coindesk article from Ari Juel, Hayden Adams, founder of Uniswap, Paradigm Portfolio company said this in response to not going to an Ivy League school, and another person saying he could have gone to.CORNELL. Hayden said “I did apply and get rejected from Cornel This is actually what would have happened-I might be an avalanche maxi instead of an Ethereum one. Shots fired?
A little side elbow from Hayden?? Well let’s just go to this chain bulletin blog post from January of this year “Crypto Research Organization IC3 Receives Chainlink Research Grant” to improve Chainlink oracles…they say “IC3 is led by a large group of industry experts and academics, including co-directors Ari Juels, the chief scientist of Chainlink Labs, and Emin Gün Sirer, the founder of the Avalanche protocol” You should know that Uniswap v2 doesn’t use Chainlink Oracles & v3 is once again using Uniswap’s own in house oracles for their version 3.
Cheers, I’ll see you next time!
