It's been exactly a year since I sat on a surfboard in the Pacific next to @timforeman, had @jonforeman tell me that he liked my hat, and got to sing campfire songs on the beach with @switchfoot, accompanied by a street-performing saxophone player named Johnny B. With people listening along the pier, and out of nearby hotel balconies. What a day. Sorry, not sorry, gonna be posting #throwback photos from last year's #switchfootgetaway for the next few days... The first @switchfoot show I went to was 20 years ago at the Salem Armory. They opened for Delirious and it just @jonforeman @timforeman and @chadbutler then. New Way To Be Human was the album which was their second of 11 albums. They were so unknown then they just hung out in the lobby talking with me and some youth group friends. Last night was my 15th (I think but I lost track) show. They have been the soundtrack to the majority of my life. @candy_vandy walked down the aisle to “Always.” I sing the bridge to “I Won’t Let You Go” to my kids and I can’t listen to “House Burns Down Tonight” without getting choked up because as long as I have my family everything else is junk. Every show has been different and they never play the songs the same way or straight off the album. In all those shows, they have never mailed it in and have brought full energy every time. Thank you for making impactful songs for every phase of my life and never taking a night off even on night 43 of a 45-city tour! Congratulations @jeromefontamillas on being cancer-free! #swipeleft to see my #bucketlistliving #family #adventure to #broam 2017 thanks to some super generous people including @switchfoot! I missed surfing with the guys but as you can see there's plenty to be #stoked about: #vip wristband, i did some #encinitas #sandart, watched an incredible show - they have a song about scars I'd never heard before (or #braintumorlife erased it's memory) that felt like it was written ABOUT ME!!! I also did some fun #chalkart and made a new friend @timforeman and most importantly - spent some quality time with the kids and #imperialbeachhottie - It was a blast!!! (at Moonlight Beach)

SWITCHFOOT Day 3. P1 "Quête des deux Boobs!" So sitting in the garden on a hot Brussels afternoon looking forward to the concert we presumed to be the next day in Amsterdam we discovered that infact the concert was that night in the Netherlands. We had 3 hours to get between 2 countries and make the show... . . But... Pres. Donald Trump had other plans and was in town so the station we booked our tickets at was on lock down and 'a no go'. We had only one other option... the station at the airport. The one which is where the Trump convoy was on its way to... and it was about to be shut down... . . We get to the station... just in time... and the train is late... when it eventually rolls in the windows are black... half the train has no power... we get onboard and inchworm our way to destiny. . . Halfway to Amsterdam the train breaks down... where are we going go? And how are we going to make the show which starts in an hour? Did I just come all the way from Joburg for this? . . Do they make it in time? Will the survive?
