Posting here is slow recently. That’s because there is just so much hate, so much vitriol, that I struggle to even compile it. I’m just exhausted.

Sadly Lynja, a creator on Tik Tok, passed away recently. She made mainly food content and was often regarded as Tik Toks grandma.

Unfortunately there have been some antisemites who have seen jews and Israelis share their condolences and decide to derail the comments with antisemitism. I will include a few comments below a cut. There were so many comments harassing anyone with the Israeli flag in their bio.

It is absolutely disgusting that people think that it's okay to derail a post about someone's death who isn't even Jewish, Israeli or Palestinian. Not that if a person was, that it would be okay, as it is not. This is a wider issue of the epidemic of people being antisemitic as soon as they see the Israeli flag.

If your "activism" includes harassing random people online on a post about someone's passing, then you are a disgusting person who doesn't know what activism is.

so when jews beg gentiles, "please help us, antisemites are assaulting and killing and raping us, they're destroying our temples and are committing crimes against us at rates we haven't seen in years," gentiles say, "no, i won't listen or help you. that isn't happening, you're lying to be a victim, if there is any crime or antisemitism you're exaggerating, and you would deserve it anyway, actually i think you'd deserve worse."

so then jews say, "well, you don't have to care about it for our sake, because soon it will become more than jew-hatred and it'll impact you too, so you should at least care about that," and gentiles say, "i don't believe you, not everything is about you, antisemitism isn't real and anyway you'd deserve it if it was."

and then fascism looms, and the threat grows larger and more obvious as time goes on, and gentiles have the audacity to say, "why aren't jews talking about this? why don't they care? why didn't they warn us?"

and then they tell each other, "jews are as quiet as usual about this because they orchestrated it all. jews are the ones behind this fascist threat," and you'll never believe what happens next

tbh so euphoric seeing that video of the pos american ripping down greek flags bc she thought they were israeli flags on my dash through r/IAmTheMainCharacter and r/sadcringe and seeing people in the comments being actually fucking sane and saying that even if they were israeli flags she'd still be an asshole

this question is for jewish + indigenous folk, please do not offer your unqualified opinion!

what are your thoughts on reconnecting members of your community?

(jews, i am NOT talking about converts with buried jewish ancestry, i mean people with one jewish parent or grandparent who were raised without any connection to judaism and are now engaging with it WITHOUT converting or attending formal services/classes/etc.)

we always say a jew is a jew is a jew, and i really do believe that, but i also have encountered a lot of “well my [parent/grandparent/stepparent/etc] is jewish and therefore i’m jewish which makes me a qualified authority on this subject”. this specific type of person has about a preschool level understanding of judaism, if that, and frequently spreads misinformation. it’s not uncommon for them to say requiring formal conversion is some flavor of bigoted and that they won’t do it on principle. i should also note they are not baal teshuvah (jews raised secular who later become more religious). personally…i can’t find it in me to call these people my people. the fundamental aspects of what makes a culture - food, holidays, music - we don’t share those experiences and more to the point you have no interest in sharing them, at least not meaningfully. judaism is an aesthetic to these people. to me, it’s my life.

I’m gonna be honest, I’m actually glad TikTok is getting banned and I hope it goes away, so at least I won’t have to pass 3 videos in a row talking about how “evil” Israel is just bc I looked up kosher recipes- (gotta love that algorithm) -or I won’t be scrolling through the comments of a video about a TV SHOW about a NANNY just to find some random jackass calling it “isnotreal propaganda” because one of the main actresses is Jewish 🙂

if you ever think you're stupid just know you would have to try really hard to be dumber than the person on tiktok who saw a news post about how australia has put out a travel advisory for jews because of the recent violent antisemitism there (or something to that effect) and said "actually its antisemitic to tell jews theyre unsafe somewhere."

the implied full statement is that "its antisemitic to tell jews theyre unsafe somewhere because it would encourage jews to flee to israel" but the statement of "acknowledging that jews are in danger means you hate jews" is umm. well
