Oh, the summertime is coming And the trees are sweetly blooming And the wild mountain thyme Grows around the blooming heather
Will you go, lassie, go? And we'll all go together To pull wild mountain thyme All around the blooming heather Will you go, lassie, go?

✨ BOOK REVIEW ✨
Thyme Travellers edited by Sonia Sulaiman
⭐️⭐️⭐️
[instagram]
Thank you Roseway Publishing and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
As with all anthologies, there were some hits and some misses. There were quite a few stories I felt needed another round or two of edits, some lines that felt clunky and some bits that felt unpolished.
There were also some incredibly moving stories in here with some really beautiful prose.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this. I felt like it gave me some insight into a culture I know very little about through an incredibly interesting lens.

Herbes de Provence
Tumblr media
Essential to Cuisine de Provence, Herbes de Provence is a fragrant mix of dried aromatic herbs, grown under the sun of Southern France. It makes one's taste-buds sing and elevate any simple vegetable or stew to a special dish, often bringing back memories of Summer holidays --of an important part of my childhood even, in my case! In other words, a little jar of happiness! Happy Tuesday!
Ingredients (makes about 1/3 cup):
1 1/2 tablespoon dried sage
1 1/2 tablespoon dried basil
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon dried marjoram
1/2 tablespoon dried rosemary
1/2 tablespoon dried oregano
In a small bowl, combine dried sage, dried basil, dried thyme, dried marjoram, dried rosemary and dried oregano.
Give a good stir to mix.
Spoon Herbes de Provence in a clean, dry glass jar, and close tightly with the lid. Use in recipes such as Tourte aux Blettes or Tian.

What would the SOD trio miss the most about the future upon being stuck in the past?
Hyper: Their parents.
Techie: Their mother + comfort objects. And routine.
Thyme: The park.

Chilli and Manuka Honey Lamb Chops
Tumblr media
These mouth-watering Chilli and Manuka Honey Lamb Chops make a beautiful and delicious lunch on a warm and sunny Sunday! Have a good one!
Ingredients (serves 2):
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon dried sage
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/4 teaspoon ground hot chilli
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
1 heaped teaspoon pure raw Manuka Honey
1 1/2 tablespoon canola oil
2 beautiful (180-gram/6.35-ounce) lamb shoulder chops
In a large, shallow plate, combine dried thyme, dried sage, dried marjoram, ground chilli, salt and black pepper. Give a good stir, to mix.
Add Manuka Honey and canola oil, whisking well, until well-blended.
Add lamb chops to the plate, and thoroughly coat them and rub them in the marinade.
Place in the refrigerator, and allow to marinate, at least one hour (but the longer, the better!)
Heat canola oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add marinated lamb chops, and cook them, about 5 minutes on each side, turning them and glazing them with leftover marinade often, until well-grilled.
Serve Chilli and Manuka Honey Lamb Chops hot, with Lime and Manuka Honey Mint Sauce and Lemon and Mint Creamed Cucumbers, and a full-bodied red like a Waiheke Island Pinot Noir.

This is a great idea, but why not take it further? Why not a whole series where a hapless birder & a wildlife photographer keep running into a) crimes & b) each other, until they decide to just teamup, 'cos it saves on petrol & hotels! (They also decide to solve the murders, 'cos the quicker all these cops/people stop dusturbing the wildlife, the better).
I honestly feel like birders are soo underutilized in murder mysteries and crime dramas. They are Everywhere. They are always Looking. They are in the woods. They are in the parks. They are on the land and on the sea. They are peering into the garbage dump with a pair of binoculars. They are trespassing on private property. They are in the woods listening for owls. They are the eternal witness.
