Soo I was again rewatching the gameplay of thsc and I just saw this now:

One of the jobs ideas of Henry as be test subject and also is the only thing he didn't Scratched from there

And thinking about it, maybe that's also why Henry could be so "lucky" and out possess some of Gadbet's inventions.?

Stickmintober 2024 Day 10: Reference

Seeing as how all of my comics are just references to other, better media, I decided to do a different sort of reference for today instead. Once Mayor Fredrickson remembers that he's trying to actively sabotage the security team in order to steal the diamond, he hires Dave on the spot!

Why is Dave wearing a Pokeball hat to an interview? Sadly, it's the nicest hat he owns, and if I didn't give him a hat, he wouldn't be Dave! ...I guess it's kind of like if the nicest clothes you had were a cosplay, so you had to wear that to your interview to at least look put together.

I don't think Dave lives with his parents at this point in time, but West Mesa certainly isn't going to give him a good reference, so his options were limited.

If only getting a decent job was this easy...

Wanted to get an approximation of the timeline for THSC since the whole “Escaping the Prison and Completing the Mission are 1 year apart” thing didn’t feel accurate considering just how much happens from game to game

Fortunately, we do get more accounts for when things happen, largely thanks to a certain unseen fellow named Gadget Gabe!

We actually get an exact date and time for Breaking the Bank! Henry got caught on August 27th, 2008 at 1:52pm.

We also get a date and time for Escaping the Prison, but a bit looser. We get a Gadget Gabe review from 2009, meaning that EtP takes place during or after 2009. We also know from the Cellphone option (beginning the pathway to Lawyered Up) that the date of the trial is September 9th at 12:53pm. Whether this is the day that Henry received the cake or if the trial takes place a day or two later is unknown, but this does tell us that Henry was in jail for over a year by this point.

The intro for Infiltrating the Airship changes depending on your most recent rank in EtP and StD. When you go for the Intruder on a Scooter rank, we’re shown a tag for a deceased Johnny Panzer showing how long he lived for. Sadly for Johnny his death is greatly appreciated because we now know that he died on July 8th, 2010, the same day that Stealing the Diamond takes place. RIP bozo

We stop being given specific dates for ItA onwards, but we do get years still. We get a Gadget Gabe review from 2012, but Henry’s pardon states that he’s pardoned for all crimes prior to 2013, so we know that ItA is in the 2012-2013 range. Given that Henry’s pardon doesn’t extend into 2013, it’s safe to assume that Infiltrating the Airship takes place in 2012.

I’m grouping FtC and CtM together because the intro to Toppat Civil Warfare states that the ending is 3 days after FtC. A Gadget Gabe review from 2015 is seen in FtC, but CtM has Gadget Gabe reviews from 2018. So we can gather that Fleeing the Complex and Completing the Mission take place during or after 2018. An alternative interpretation could be that TCW takes during/after 2015-2017 and the rocket launch takes place in 2018+, but if Henry was away from the Toppat Clan for more than a year, then his anger at Reginald for taking charge wouldn’t be justified at all--the Toppats would have more than enough reason to appoint a different leader at this point.

I wanted to work on some pokemon teams for thsc characters, But drawing pokemon can be very time consuming. So I just kinda made some edits for the main five to show their teams.

Note that while some pokemon choices were based on personality/headcanons/etc, Others were just based on vibes and what I think they'd use.

Some explanations and semi story stuff under the cut (Warning: Long):

Henry:

None of the pokemon that Henry caught were exactly planned.

Before BtB, Henry never even considered himself a trainer. The absolute most he had done at this point was mock battles with Gabe using their parent's pokemon when they were kids.

Absol started following him around before BtB (And if you know anything about Absol, You probably know what that means for Henry).

Mimikyu was found huddled in the same bag that Henry was using as a disguise.

Gimmighoul was already in the vault when Henry got there, Attempting to steal a few coins.

Henry got a break from finding new pokemon during EtP. But during StD, He found Sableye clinging to the diamond he was going to steal.

He never actually caught the Celebi. They apparently took a liking to Henry and used their time travel abilities to help him.

He's still not a very good battler.

Ellie:

Ellie was your typical trainer going on a journey before things got really out of hand. She got herself caught up in some crime before getting sent to the Wall.

Braxien was her starter and Roselia was her first caught pokemon.

She used the Cyclizar napping outside of the wall to help her and Henry escape. She then got attached and kept him.

The Amaura was a "Weird rock" she found shortly after escaping the Wall.

Despite her kinda small team, Ellie is a good battler. She's in the process of teaching Henry (It's going kinda slowly).

Charles:

Charles is one of those people who personally believes pokemon shouldn't be kept in their pokeballs as often as they are and rarely keeps his own in them. He isn't exactly vocal about this opinion though.

Flygon was Charles' very first pokemon. The two are extremely in sync, Charles doesn't even need to order an attack out loud sometimes, Flygon already knows!

While Charles prefers keeping pokemon that can be out and flying with him while he's in his helicopter, Lycanroc is an exception. That's his dog.

Charles got Corviknight sometime after joining the military.

Nobody knows for sure how Charles got a hold of a Latias. If you ask him, He'll just say "She followed me while I was flying one day."

He prefers to keep battles professional and doesn't participate in regular battles very often. He has some of the highest level pokemon of the main five (Also he has a legendary so it's not exactly very fair).

Reginald:

Reginald takes great pride in having some of the most well cared for pokemon. He'll brag about it for hours, Much to other's annoyance.

His starter was Meowscarada (They have the same goddamn pose lol) and Honchcrow was the first pokemon he caught.

Milotic was a gift from Right. He wasn't very good at catching pokemon yet, So he could only manage to catch a Feebas. Reg still very much appreciated it.

People joke that Reg caught Thievul because they have matching mustaches.

His pride and joy, Diancie, Was originally a Carbink. They transformed into a Diancie during the "leadership battle" against Terrence.

He's probably a better battler than a physical fighter. Although, He's the type to overthink things and accidentally give the opponent the advantage.

RHM:

Right was raised by a family who didn't like/didn't want him to have pokemon. As a result, He didn't have a single one when he joined the Toppats. He didn't want to admit it, But he was a little scared of pokemon and the idea of being a trainer for a while.

Blaziken was his starter but he didn't get him until joining the Toppats.

Sylveon was a gift from Reginald. Despite the two's rivalry when they first met, Reg didn't want Right to be stuck with an uncertain relationship with his own pokemon. And since Eevee was a great pokemon for beginners, It was pretty much perfect. You'd think it's funny for a guy like Right to have a Sylveon, But you won't be laughing when you get hit by a moonblast.

Stoutland was the first pokemon (Besides the Feebas for Reg) Right caught on his own.

The Mudsdale is because of the cowboy vibes.

Right struggled as a battler at first, But pretty quickly got the hang of it. He's very adamant about not using mega evolution, Z moves, etc, Much to Reg's disappointment. To quote Right "I ain't gonna use any cheap gimmicks." Looking at his Blaziken however, That might just change someday.

Happy 10th Anniversary of ItA!

I don't really have anything image-related to post, so I'll just share my own story.

Infiltrating the Airship is how I came to know THSC for the first time (well, it isn't exactly a collection at the time.). This was some time in the mid or late 2010s when I was a lot younger than I am today, and also around the time Fleeing the Complex was out.I randomly found a walkthrough video of ItA on YouTube that caught my attention, and as I recall, my favorite moment in said vid was Henry knocking out Handsome Harold in the "Spook" option.

It wasn't until some time later that I tried checking out the game for myself on Silvergames.com, and I can't remember if it's the first Henry game I've ever played, but I also played the entire collection in chronological order, from BtB, EtP, StD, ItA and last but not least, FtC.

With that said Happy 10th Anniversary, ItA!
