honestly, it feels a bit of a disservice to me how people immediately label kotoko as someone who doesn't care for the people she saves when there's clearly a much more interesting relationship at hand here!
we know how kotoko gets when she doesn't care: she's stone-faced, she's self-assured, she's above it all ...but when a scared little girl hugs her? she doesn't roll her eyes or click her tongue; instead, she freezes, sweats profusely, and yanks the child off her. she just murdered someone seconds ago but it's the child she's antsy with?
Tumblr media
Kotoko: "Treat you like a child? Hah, you’ve got to be kidding. Back when I was your age, I was already the person I am today. I don’t have any plans to let you get away with something just “because you’re a child.” ...Remember that."
i don't want to say anything concrete just yet but—especially when you take a look at mikoto—there's a very obvious fear at play with kotoko's relationship in protecting someone weaker than her. just like there's newborn imagery baked into john doe's character, kotoko is the little red riding hood, the child, who's been swallowed by a wolf.

My english lyrics for Triage woo! (They're written out under the cut, I just wanted to share my lil chart lol)
Though I'm too indecisive to officially label this as my favorite song, it's had the strongest emotional impact on me by far. It holds a special place in my heart, I definitely wanted to write lyrics for it first! I'll leave all my rambling process commentary in the tags, but I was so happy with how it came out!!
All of those cards of promise thrown down carelessly,
This must be retribution for all I've taken endlessly.
If that were the case, it should have been fate for me to die.
That's the truth, given my crime, so why--?
No, I can't take it, to this cruel joke I'll submit. You
don't know, you can't know, but I'm ready to admit:
Killing for them, extracting for them, won't change the fact they're dead.
I need someone to tag me as RED.
It makes me sick (sick), it's too unpleasant. Sick (sick)
Is this punishment? What do you mean I'm INNOCENT?
I see, the world is cruel and leaves you on your own.
(I can't die) to atone. (I can't love) alone.
I can't be saved (saved), you've nothing to give. Saved (saved)
But what if I lived? Why else would you choose to forgive?
I see, there's lives to save so let's be sensible.
Right now, you need me, (I can be) indispensable.
Tilt to and fro, I know the scales should land on GUILTY for me.
Tilt fro and to, it's INNOCENT that they choose.
They cry (x4) out in pain, I can hear them. There's no one else, to guard their health,
My mission is offering help.
All of those cards of promise thrown down carelessly,
This must be retribution for all I've taken endlessly.
So if that's the case, then it must be fate to make amends,
Extract that fang before we meet the end.
It makes me sick (sick), it's too unpleasant. Sick (sick)
Is this punishment? What do you mean I'm INNOCENT?
I see, the world is cruel, but what I've realized is
(Now I want) to be INNOCENT. (Now I want) to live.
It makes me sick (sick), This wasn't my plan, hostages at my command.
Their future resting in my hands
I see, there's lives to save so let's be sensible.
Right now, please save me, (I will be) indispensable.
Maybe this was meant to be -- oh  -- or maybe neither of us can know
There's lives to save so let's be sensible.
Right now, please save me, (I will be) indispensable.
---
I mentioned earlier that I always get annoyed with myself when people post translyrics and I can't figure out the rhythm they were going for, so here's a recording of me singing, but I'm bad at it! It's just for fun! Like a rough draft for music! Because the only thing worse than people hearing my voice is people thinking I can't count syllables!
#milgram#shidou kirisaki#lyrics#im real happy with how they came out :))#when i first got into milgram i started writing tear drop lyrics but got discouraged#(ill be revisiting them next but) it was so fun to work with this song!#i love the sound of it and had a great time creating my version#i wanted his repeated lines in the refrain to have a punch to them#and was SO satisfied giving the doctor 'sick' and 'saved' as his focus words#the mention of 'throw down' wasnt originally intended but it fit so well i just had to keep it asdfsd#i looked up an internet translation for 'Shinenai sentaku o ikenai ai o' because the official english line confused me#and it gave me 'i cant die. i cant go. i cant love.' and i loved that more than the official translation actually#really the only word that doesnt flow quite like id want is 'punishment' but the meaning/rhyme made me happy so i kept it haha#nothing can replace the sound satisfaction 'Yurayura tenbin yurusa naide hoshii noni/Yureteru yurushite hoshii to' gives me tho -_-#and i wanted a more open-mouth sound when he sings 'dattaka' the second time -- i absolutely love how he draws it out#but had to settle for what i could make work 🤷‍♀️#we are spitting in the face of cringe culture and posting my voice!!#some writers are okay if their complete vision doesnt make it across to the audience but Not Me#i gotta show my whole vision and draft 😂#oh and excuse his voicemail message LMAO#i love shidou with all my heart but i have to tease him about shoving his profession in our face every chance he gets#(did we ever get a translation for that btw?)#but yeah im always preaching to do arts and things youre bad at just because theyre fun so i figured id take my own advice#because it was a lot of fun to sing :3#and i dont know how to word this in the fans-having-collaborative-fun way and not a pretentious way#but if any of the milgram pals who like singing want to cover it hmu :D

Hey, I’ll send in a Milgram related ask too! To drum up some Shidou intrigue, what do you think about the theory that Shidou decided to steal organs from his kid to give to his wife?
If you aren’t aware, it mostly stems from the scene at 1:48 of Triage when he hands his son one of the fruit tags. The idea would be that if both the kid and the wife were in a vegetative state, Shidou decided it was worth it to kill his kid for sure in order to have a higher chance of saving his wife (matching genetic structures and all that).
Given that I’m not even certain it’s scientifically possible, I’m on the fence, but I’d love to hear if you had any input on it!
(Damn, this blog really is 90% asks huh. Well I do enjoy answering them so)
Hey! It's an interesting idea, especially considering the guy is paired with Mahiru, but I'm not sure it works all that well. I'l give my reasoning for that conclusion and then I accidentally made a theory about what the scientific purposes of Shidou's work were oops.
CW: Murder, organ harvesting, human experimentation.
For one, it really seems like Shidou loved all his family, not just his lover.
(T1) Q3: Is there anything you treasure?
S: Family.
Family, not romantic love.
(T2) Q10: Do you like children?
S: Of course.
This one's a bit vaguer, but still.
But the main thing which makes this theory extremely unlikely in my eyes is this:
(T1) Q14: If you could bring someone back to life, who would you choose?
S: I can't choose anyone.
Since we know there are people he'd like to bring back, the idea that Shidou can't choose who to bring back to life implies he has multiple people he would want to save from death. The issue there is that taking organs from his child/children would very directly mean he chose his wife over him/them, which is inconsistent with this answer, and his general attitude towards everyone in his family.
If you want my interpretation of that scene, well, let's look at the line said as Shidou hands his kid the tag.
Those cards of promise I discarded They were retribution for my incessant taking
Note that "cards of promise" might refer to the death tags. The "promise" would be that Shidou keeps the braindead people alive, and he discarded the cards because he killed a bunch of people without worrying too much about it. But now he's getting the "cards of promise" as retribution, because his own family has met a similar fate to the one of the people he killed. The first line makes it a bit more clear.
Those cards of promise I discarded Were they retribution for my incessant taking In that case, I should have been the one That’s the correct answer, but then why
So he feels he should have been the one to die.
That does sorta make it sound like, by giving his kid the "card of promise", he's killing the child, but I actually think it's the other way around. Note that the card first falls from the air, then Shidou hands it to the kid, sorta implying it's someone elses. If you look at Throw Down, the death tag of his wife seems to come directly from her, it doesn't just fall from the air.
(And yes, that is his wife. Even beyond what the flower figure looks like, the death tag has XY crossed out while XX is left alone. Since all death tags have both sets, it can be assumed the corpse at the end of Throw Down is meant to be a woman by sex because chromosomes)
Thus, I think what this scene might be trying to show is that Shidou wasn't taking organs just for his wife, but for his children too.
Or maybe child.
This is the obligatory part of my posts where I go insane. The kid is still alive and standing in the scene, so what this could imply is that Shidou began killing for this child before the pressumed accident.
This is where I bring in the fact that Shidou claimed in his 2nd VD that he also took organs for scientific purposes, and from his Voice Reveal jumbled quote, it seems to have happened before shit went down.
Shidou: [Cackling] Not dead... Yeah, she's definitely not dead... I finally understand the value of what I've been robbing people of...
So he's been robbing people of their braindead family members before his wife became braindead herself.
So, here's what I think. Shidou's child, the one from this scene, had some sort of illness of some kind, and Shidou began experimenting with organ harvesting to see if he could cure it. Don't ask me what the hell he was actually planning to do, but that's the idea. The whole science side of this storyline feels to me like it isn't meant to be 100% accurate to reality, but that's just my opinion.
This could also explain why his Voice Reveal thingy only mentions a she (or a name of three letters I guess, seeing as it's all blacked out, but you know), and why we only see her in Throw Down, without having him kill the child to explain the Triage scene in question. It's possible both his children died instantly in whatever accident they got into, but his wife survived in a vegetative state. And in that moment, Shidou began trying to use what he learnt from his experimentation to save her by harvesting more organs.
I think this works decently enough, even if like you said, the actual science is questionable at best. I mean, it clearly didn't work, so.
Is this something? I feel I'd be more confident if I could scan the damn QR code in the death tag of that scene, but I assume it just takes you to the Judge page like the ones from Backdraft.
Anyways, hope that answered your question! Take care!

Kazui's all about fitting into the idea of masculinity but the way he walks is pretty gender neutral, bordering on feminine. he doesn't move his shoulders much, but he doesn't seem to sway his hips either which is pretty neutral, and his feet are straight rather pointing outwards, which is more neutral-feminine. When he swings his arms back, they go past his legs instead of stopping at them, which also feels more neutral-fem. It's not really noticable since his overall appearance is very masc and so is the rest of his body language. Maybe the animators just didn't think too much about the way he walks, or maybe its meant to show that when he can get away with being less masculine, he will. Idk

I still can Not get over Monday evening’s shidou MV analysis session and finding out there are three separate images of the bird of paradise flower in ‘Throw Down’, not two like the rest of the flowers have. Three. One healthy, one completely wilted, and one middle picture that is wilted but has some colour left.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Genuinely thought I was going insane but nope I was right to stare at each individual flower image in chronological order I guess??? It is truly the weirdest fucking detail in the world and yet it is making my head spin. What does it all mean. Why would you make a separate asset that is virtually identical to another except for one sliiiight difference, if not to make a point? I think I'm still going insane actually

‼️‼️TRIGGER WARNING ‼️‼️
Death, Suicidal thoughts, Mentioned/Implied Organ stealing, Grief, Desperation
Shidou not only have a lover, but said was actually his wife and they also had 2 kids. The kids and wife got in what I presume to be a car accident where the kids died but the wife was left in a state where she could be *theoretically* saved and Shidou (losing his shit over the fact that lost both of his kids and is about to lose what I assume to be the love of his life) starts intentionally ''messing up'' his surgeries so that he can secretly steal his patients organs to hopefully save his wife. The procedure doesn't work, the wife dies and Shidou realising he has nothing to live for AND is pretty much a serial killer now, begs Es for the death penalty to at least be reunited with his family after death. But after Es declares him ''FORGIVEN'' in the first trial and Kotoko decides to go Punisher on everyone's asses, he decides ''Fuckin' fine, I GUESS I'll live long enough to be the medic.'' while also hoping that it will atone a bit for the afro-mentioned serial killing.
Tho, one thing I can't wrap my head around is wth does the visual of Shidou handing a receipt (which was used to symbolise the amount of ''surgeries'' he ''botched up'') to one of his sons in the 2nd MV mean?
