Bridget Jones need a therapy.

Hello again. Recently i was suddenly in the mood to watch all three Bridget Jones films. The last time I watched them was when the last one came out, that is, about seven years ago. A lot of my self-perception has changed and this has significantly changed the perception of the film. Overall, I still like the entire trilogy, if I may say so.

I'm less enchanted by the second film than before, but also less disappointed by the third now. I didn’t like the topic of pregnancy, as it seemed then because of my own beliefs on this matter, but now it seems to me that it’s not just that. Bridget clearly has huge problems with self-esteem and self-love. She is immature in this regard for 30+ years old. She is looking for support in the relationship and it fails (in the case of Daniel, it is not only her fault, but mainly hers, but it was not worth starting them out of flirting at work). At the beginning of the relationship she is happy and this gives her confidence for a short time, but then inevitably not everything goes smoothly and Bridget panics, listens to not-specialists rather than talking to her partner, draws conclusions out of nothing and ultimately ruins everything even more. I have a strong feeling that the problem"Mark worked a lot - was not voiced to him while they were together. Mark has a very healthy type of attachment - he is supportive, caring and does not run away from talking about problems, but rather starts them himself. And when she eventually says that this was the case, Mark takes this into account so much that in an impulse throws away the phone at the wrong moment. Bridget, although quite smart, is impulsive and, coupled with uncertainty and the inability to talk about problems, this greatly harms her. It doesn’t allow her to be happy in life and leads to the situation “who is the father of my child?”.

And one more bad detail - she doesn’t even know if she wants this child and children in general, but she decides because she is many years old, all her friends have them and this is like a marker that she has succeeded. Probably, her mother decided to have her in much the same way, but she was much stupider and much happier and therefore never understood that this complex should not be passed on to her daughter. Bridget's dad is like a softiest version of Mark and it's weird and not at the same time.

I’m glad that in the end the mother realized some of her mistakes through her daughter’s experience and changed a little, and that Bridget herself understood something, but it would have been much wiser to go to a psychologist and talk through her traumas and problems at least between the second and third film. And perhaps a woman named Camilla would not have suffered and the kind and rather caring Jack would not have suffered (besides probably his friendship is nothing but suffering). And besides, it would have been much better for Bridget and Mark themselfs. I feel a little sorry for him here too. He might not have gone through so much emotional trauma and carrying a pregnant woman for a kilometer in his arms (in general, a powerful person, heroic) if she had gone to therapy at the age of 35.

i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping
