Scenes From Imagined Films.
There are plenty of artists on Tumblr, and they are all very, very good. One such artist on Tumblr who is plentifully good goes by the name Jordon Bolton (@jordanbolton). He creates short stories told through storybook-like comics, and draws the universal from the particulars of everyday life: a couple on a bench, daily walks, someone waiting outside a restaurant. These are poetic works that will leave you with a particular throb, and form, above all, a testament to paying attention.
Scenes from Imagined Films, and his other works, are available over at his Etsy. Get 'em while they're still hot. We have compiled some samples of his pieces, including the particularly affecting "To The Substitute Art Teacher"—a beautiful reflection on, well, beauty.

People like this have made me terrified that I am mischaracterizing my favorite character by playing into his strengths and emphasizing them so much... That I'm making things "too anime", "too over-the-top", and by doing that straying away from the groundedness that made the character compelling in the first place... But I think it's better to be a fan who loves someone so much they're willing to step into goofy over-the-top showcases of strength and morals out of love than being a fake fan who only ever rags on what they proclaim is so dear to them. I dunno. I don't think I'm wrong in saying that. I'm hella insecure when it comes to my own writing, especially with this guy because I want to do him as much justice as I possibly can as a writer. But I have to convince myself that it's not too much.
#logs#it doesn't help that i've been exposed to a lot of bad writing and cynical critique in general‚ so i'm even more fearful...#but i think the cure for that is to just... read more‚ and read with an honest heart#i don't know... i feel like i have a lot of growth to do as a person‚ as a reader and writer before i can execute this to the level where it#can truly be considered a masterpiece. grounded‚ yet not so. over-the-top in every way while also providing meaningful critique and#commentary on the nature of humanity. gutwrenching dialogue packed neatly with the most insane displays of asskicking. commentary on how war#is cruel and bad and only sows misery contrasted with the coolest battle scenes you have ever seen. these are the essence of the things i#love‚ and i want to be able to channel that through my own writing as well. it's the only way to do justice to the source material‚ the only#way to truly pay a tribute to the things that i love.#now that i am free‚ i can finally become more cultured... read more books‚ watch more films‚ inhale old mecha anime... it's what i've always#dreamed of doing#i just need to undo the mental shackles of ''i cannot do this right now''... i can. i finally can. i just need to let my mind catch up to#that. give it a little push along the way#once that's done... the journey begins.#i anguish a lot over the fact that my writing is locked in a tomb for the next decade... but sometimes‚ like now‚ i think‚ hey‚ maybe that#isn't so bad. imagine how many movies you can watch in those ten years... good movies‚ bad ones‚ exceptional ones... i'll have grown so much#as a writer by that point in time because i'll have learned the ''how'' part of what i want to write. i have the ''what'' already‚ and a#general idea of ''how''‚ but... ten years from now‚ i'll be able to write everything in a way that truly makes my eyes shine#a rare moment of me being hopeful for the future... i cherish it as those don't last very long in my life. i more often tend to despair#(cursed be the chemical disbalance!)#but yeah. there is a lot to look forward to despite the hardships. sure it would've been nice to just... have it all here‚ but... that's not#the world i live in. and maybe this one isn't so bad‚ either.#i have my box of scraps. now i just need to make it out of the cave.#the deadliest type of man is one with motivation and a purpose. right?

Me when I see people compare the Cullens calling/referring to Jacob and the rest of the wolf pack as "dogs", "mutts" or "mongrels" to being the same as them being called "bloodsuckers" "leeches" or even, in Rosalie's case "blonde.":
#twilight#twilight saga#the cullens#jacob black#twilight wolfpack#bc no them referring to these (mostly yte) vamps as “leeches or bloodsuckers” is not the same as again this#predominantly yte family referring to an indigenous group of people as “dogs or mongrels” in anyway nor is okay#too many people let smeyer get away with this especially bc it was turned into a joke added with the dog bowl scene#that is dehumanizing even more so when you factor in how smeyer used a real tribe without their consent and depicts most if not all#her poc characters as more savage like or lesser than their predominantly yte counterparts#and even with there being poc vamps (tho in the books that's hardly the case) that still doesn't erase the sentiment used toward the#wolfpack and how it comes from primarily the cullens an all yte fam#there are so many instances especially in the subtext of jacob & the rest of the pack being treated as more violent anf aggressive#when the cullens had to move around bc emmett had such a high body count & jasper can't control his thirst and literally lashes out at bella#but yet alice thinks the wolves are more of a threat? it doesn't help that smeyer depicts it that way too by honing in on how#sam hurt emily but giving jasper (a confederate soldier mind you) more grace#and no even if rosalie is one of my faves her getting thrown “blonde” as an insult is NOT the same as her calling jacob “dog” at every#chance she gets like imagine telling a poc that being called an animal is the same as being referred to a hair color#smeyer making all the wolves indigenous and all the vamps (specifically in the books but movies too) yte already adds the racial dynamics to#it so no you can't say “it's not about race” bc the author who again depicts most if not all her poc characters negatively wrote it that way#(this is also a woman who has many misogynistic moments in her writing too so why are you surprised?)#the same author who “allegedly” got upset with a director for acting more actors of color into the first film & only “allegedly” only agreed#for laurent was bc he was the villain#to note not saying that you can't like twilight or the cullens or anything like that bc i do find myself coming back to it every now & again#but to dismiss valid criticism and ignore why many fans especially those who are poc & native say these factors make them uncomfortable#or just try to dismiss it or make jokes out of it is uncool#anti twilight#anti stephenie meyer

Hi, im a beginner horror enjoyer and im really disturbed by a lot of gore but i wanna understand the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies bc ive heard theyre hugely influential on the genre (rightly so too)
I figured with all this id ask the foremost texas chainsaw scholar i am aware of
Could you tell me the basics, if its gross (im really bad at tolerating gross out horror and gore played realistic), and any fun tidbits?
If not i thank you for reading and hope you have a good day ^-^
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was hugely influential on the genre and set the standard for low budget horror and inspired future filmmakers to rely more on psychological terror over gore & violence! It was also seemingly the birth of a lot of horror tropes, like big, masked killers and using power tools for weapons.
Texas Chainsaw's story is inspired by serial killers like Ed Gein and Elmer Wayne Henley. The movie’s director, Tobe Hooper, was inspired by the graphic coverage of violence by San Antonio news outlets and based elements of the plot on murderer Ed Gein, who was a notorious serial killer who made furniture out of human body parts and created a mask made of human skin. The movie’s underlying themes are mostly the horrors of isolation, and the dangers of unchecked capitalism. The movie is also a metaphor for the Nixon-era mayhem and the government’s deceit toward the public during the 1970s. Hooper intentionally misled audiences by claiming that the movie was based on a true story to attract a wider audience.
I honestly don't know how to give you the basics aside from a plot synopsis because I would, hand to God, be sitting here for about 12 hours minimum going into every weird little detail, like the intricacies of bubba's mental issues and being forced to take on a female role for his abusive older brothers, or all the absolutely insane shit that happened during filming. And that'd just be me talking about the FIRST film.
But if you want to ask me more questions or see more Texas chainsaw related stuff you can ask/look over at my blog @chainsawhouse. I just hate to gum up my main blog with this particular interest.
Also, my fun tidbit is that they've recently confirmed that there is a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the works, under the title 'Texas Chainsaw Legacy'! Very fun imo.
#ask#tcm#i think most of the bad gore on my tcm blog is tagged under 'blood' but im sure ive let a couple bts pics fly under my radar by accident#i'm just so bad with words me trying to give you the basics would be a big mess of words#cause i mention one thing and have to go oh yeah sidenote. every other sentence#sorry i couldnt be more informative im honestly just trying to spare you#aside from the shots of dead bodies like the one at the start of the movie. along some dead animals and a lot of gross meat shots there isn#really actual gore that i remember... the big thing about the film was that they left the violence up to your imagination#by tactfully cutting away during the brutal scenes#its still an off putting film but i personally think if gore played realistically is what's turning you off from watching it you should be#good#youd want to avoid tcm2 though they do a lot of on screen gore for that movie. they had tom savini doing special effects
