ooh ok! that's a big ask, because queer/progressive doesn't always show in the ways we expect in older movies. still, joyous i can do, and as poly as I can I'll try for:

the talk of the town (you knew i would say this). jean arthur, cary grant, ronald colman are all tangled up in all sorts of ways, legally but also including in each other's pajamas. it's free on youtube and tubi last time i checked!

singin' in the rain (you also knew i would say this). cosmo brown, weird little third wheeling queerplatonic ideal that you are. gene kelly, debbie reynolds, and donald o'connor have fire chemistry and all three of their characters love the other ones so truly and with such joy they break all of hollywood with the power of song. (it is gorgeous and sublime that the story is built so only these three ever actually engage with the musical format—the format that is, in universe, the way of the future—structurally equating music and musicals with love. no one else gets a song or a villain number or a little ditty that's not a literal musical number. only these three break the story and heal it at the same time.)

the adventures of robin hood—i swear to god will scarlett is good for nothing else besides being robin's hot little friend. will alone makes this movie queer for me. also, watching a movie about a socialist uprising against a cruel and unjust government sure feels apt! for no particular reason! (this one is also on tubi.)

the philadelphia story—jimmy katharine and cary are absolutely a threesome in this movie and it's a crime they didn't just make more of this movie, again and again, forever. is there a plot? they're all by a swimming pool, it's hot, there's champagne. what else do you need for a film. oh yeah there's some discussion of autonomy and women's rights and wealth and class and marriage, some of which i disagree with, but i think mostly it's katharine hepburn in an evening gown and jimmy stewart in a white terry cloth robe and cary grant standing there not minding in the least. (content warning: there is one instance of a racial slur [not directed at anyone but still there], and one shove. also on tubi.)

the lady vanishes—i love this movie, so much, couldn't tell you why (i can: michael redgrave is here being hot). there are two bit characters who read as queer coded (they are also obsessed with cricket and are mocked for being english by the narrative, which is nice), and there's a weird plucky joy in michael redgrave's performance that feels like a departure from your usual Solid Very Serious Male Heroic Main Character. this movie does trend mildly xenophobic in a very England-in-the-30s type of way—there are shady "foreign" characters and other batshit stereotypes—but nothing I think that would cause direct offense. (let me know if I'm wrong on this though and I'll tag accordingly). this one is free anywhere and can be watched on youtube.

So this is written in past and future tense. Of course, these dates haven’t happened for you, however, I wasn’t able to channel them from a present perspective for the majority of the letter. They were focused on pouring their love on you without thinking. It was a desperate call for you to change and not become cold. And for many of you, not for you to become the one thing you hated. So instead, learn to heal your open wounds and better yourself instead of being an ass in the future.

I am aware this is completely different, and you were promised a song, but I wasn’t able to do that as Light from death note kept appearing in my mind. For those who are watching this, ignore this since there are spoilers, and if you are still curious, I’ll keep it as vague as I can.

The reason my intuition mentioned an anime instead of a song is how Light, the main character, became the person he hated. This is what you have become. His desires were to protect the innocent, but ultimately he did the opposite. As time goes on throughout the show, he starts to become power-hungry, but in your case, it’s a lust for isolation. Right now, I have been feeling down in the dumps. Things have been tough, very tough. Lately, I have been struggling to find happiness in my life. And I was praying for something, anything to feel something. But nothing came through, this broke me further. Then I started to realize something.. Why should I ask someone for help when I can do it myself?

So that is what I have been doing. I'm working on myself, so when we meet, you have someone you can be devoted to. I know it sounds like I'm not actually taking care of myself, but I am. And it sounds like I am only working on myself for you, as if all of this is for you and not me; some of it is partially true, but at the same time, I am thinking of myself. It’s important that you do the same thing, because I know you like to do things for other people but don't.

You know, I see you struggling to get your job or homework done. I am in the same boat. We are the same after all. I think it’s special that we are on the same path, the same journey, and most of all, the same love level. We both had it rough with a lover, but you know what? BSD MEN AND MBTI TYPES [+ their darlings]

So, I’m not sure how many are aware of what MBTI is, but I got a few requests on making an analysis about this for BSD MEN and incorporating their ideal type! darlings’ MBTI types as well, so I did. (I kind of promised that I would do it, so now is the time.)❤️

I want you to know, it wasn’t intentional to place one type as the ideal match for multiple characters. I thought it through thoroughly and did my best to remain as logical and diverse in MBTI types as possible. It’s just that strong Fe users are often a good match for broken people and…well…BSD men are mostly broken.

Please if you can, take some time to learn about St. Martín de Porres! His soul is beautiful and his work was absolutely selfless as he cared for others in the face of social abuse and adversity. He really is someone to aspire to be like.

I nominate St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in this particular instance as it's difficult to pin down a definitive patron saint of women (all of my cross-references didn't produce a strong label on any one saint; many were for mothers or some other aspect attributed to womanhood, so there are many options). But St. Elizabeth was the first American-born citizen to be canonized as a saint, and in her life she started a Catholic school for girls. She is most known for founding of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Joseph’s, the first religious order in America who contributed significant humanitarian work. In the wake of the US election results, I think she is an apt choice for connecting with for intercession.

I'm a biased St. Joan D'Arc follower, but hear me out. She was the crux of saving her home country from the very literal brink of being lost to Britain in a war that spanned a century. She rallied the last skeleton crew of the remaining French monarchal power that had all but been defeated already, and helped to take their name and land back from the English. I will be continuing to pray to her regularly to help find ways to fight for our freedom and remain courageous. I encourage others to do the same if you pray to her, or would like to start.

While I wish I had a suggestion for a saint to pray to for the LGBTQIA+ community, as they are adopted through history (St. Sebastian) or are not strictly official. But there are some interesting perspectives to find online, I just couldn't find a saint I could comfortably name with my whole chest for this particular group. It is canon but often forgotten that Kurt is the BIGGEST romantic. His heart is so soft. Usually, people think of him as cynical or the biggest bitch but it takes Blaine 0.2 seconds to cut through that outer layer. It's not so much bigger gestures, but smaller ones when they get older. He'll send Kurt a single rose at work when Kurt's having a bad day or when he's just having a time of it - Blaine will softly whisper to him: I can't wait until later when I can be between your legs. And Kurt just melts. He melts every time.

He cries at weddings. All of them. Real people's weddings. Fake people's weddings. Even Blaine isn't that moved by what he feels is a more superficial level of romance. But weddings just do Kurt in every time.

Kurt's middle name is not Elizabeth. But that was his mother's name, and when he was a teen, he liked to honor her. They name their daughter Beth in her honor. Kurt's always been told he's like his mother, but every once in a while, he'll hold himself the same way Burt does. Puts his hands on his hips the same way, or make a facial expression that totally reminds Blaine of Burt. Blaine thinks it's absolutely hilarious. Kurt hates it.

Kurt ends up being a huge fan of Nicola Coughlan. But even more than enjoying Bridgerton, he LOVES Derry Girls and watches it straight for, like, a month. To the point where Blaine is so sick of it - he wants to cancel their Netflix account. But Kurt is partial -- he is, after all, 43% Irish. :)

If the cullens were in the TVD universe, headcanons

Obviously, the Cullens are still considered "vegetarians." And one of the few vampire clans that feed off of animal blood.

Carlisle is Lexi Branson's real father, and you can't tell me otherwise.

Lexi would introduce Stefan to the Cullens, and Carlisle and Esme would be the psrents that Stefan needed.

Edward and Stefan were distant around each other at first, but then they got along and got real close later.

They are still mostly located in Washington Forks, but they still travel.

Damon would obviously meet them and at first hate them for stealing his brother, and I also think he feels like he's being replaced.

Lexi loves Esme and Carlisle and her adopted siblings.

Stefan, Lexi, Emmett, and Alice definitely go to Bon Jovi concerts together.

Stefan and Rosalie bonded over fixing vehicles together.

Stefan and Jasper get along decently, but I think Damon and Jasper would be closer, considering they were both soldiers.

Carlisle and Esme did not like Damon's behavior along with the trouble and misery he caused Stefan, but they know Damon's Stefan's brother and that Stefan loves him despite everything.

As Geoff describes ‘It’s been a three-year labour of love. Again, thinking about the events in her life and capturing everything I played into Logic. Then going back and listening to what I had. I often write that way and I find it really productive.’

It’s been a really interesting project. I learned a lot about her. I empathised with her plight too having been through a divorce myself. That might sound pretentious, but those sorts of emotions resonate through history. They are as real today as five centuries ago”.

Katharine Hepburn was out here casually changing the lives of young butch lesbians with her gender swag! She wore pants even when people said she shouldn’t, she refused to marry or have kids, and she wore menswear in at LEAST one movie!

If I start thinking about her face for too long I will cry she is so so hot. Finally, the Katharine Hepburn slacks look is just iconic. I mean look at her.

This woman. I have been obsessed with her for years. I know the urban legend is a popular one at this point of her walking around set in her underwear when her pants were stolen and she was left with only a skirt, but the pants thing is honestly enough for her to be the hottest in the room in my book. She refused to wear anything else at a time when the public in general and especially the studios did not like that. She was independent, stubborn, and so so very capable. Competency kink anyone? I love Jimmy so much!! I feel like I have more than one answer though to my favourite movie of his 😅 of any movie he’s in, it would be The Philadelphia Story. It’s one of my favourite movies of all time and Jimmy, Cary and Katharine are my three Old Hollywood favourites so it’s a perfect movie for me! I know the ending is controversial though! Loads of people think she should’ve ended up with Mike. But I like the ending, even though Tracy and CK were toxic 😂 what do you think?? My favourite performance of his though is You Can’t Take it With You. That movie is so underrated! It has such a beautiful message and it’s fun yet so heartfelt. I also love Jimmy’s chemistry with Jean Arthur. And the grandpa is adorable lol

Your top five is amazing!! Rear Window is my fave Hitchcock movie, it’s so good. Even though I’m a chronic rewatcher, I’ve actually never rewatched Mr Smith Goes to Washington, I enjoyed it, but I didn’t understand a lot of the intricacies of American politics 😭 it’s very well made though. Fun fact: Jimmy said once that he felt like his Oscar win for Philadelphia Story was a sort of apology from the academy for him not winning as Mr Smith the year before! Controversially, I don’t love It’s a Wonderful Life! I can’t put my finger on why though, I appreciate it’s objectively a beautiful movie 💗 the only other movie of his that I’ve not really loved is Vertigo which is another controversial opinion 😅 have you seen it? It makes me sad though because the movie failed at the box office and Hitchcock blamed Jimmy and refused to work with him again 🥲🥲

I am especially fascinated by Katharine/Catalina of Aragón, she’s and has been my hero for years now. Such a valiant, remarkable woman with a heart of gold and a queen through and through!

It pains me to say this, but in high school (which was many years ago haha) we were taught next to nothing about her, we only learnt about her mother, the queen of Castile, in great detail. I have a great admiration for Isabel I, too; however I am just saddened that she’s only known for being the first wife of that awful tyrant, Henry VIII, by many. She was so much more than that, as you know.

Anyway, I think it’s beautiful that, +500 years after her death, people in the UK still take the time to visit her and leave flowers, pomegranates and other gifts by her tomb. This fact warms my heart a little.

I mean, it’s understandable her mother is better known and discussed in greater detail, but it’s quite sad that all the fascinating women in Henry VIII’s life are mostly linked to him through his marriages. On the other hand, he’s mostly known for marrying six times and breaking with Rome, so his wives definitely contributed to his fame.
