Had to briefly explain to a group of aspiring artists how to draw an eye and make a tear look realistic and three dimensional. ICE ENERGY - 2262 Gletschereis-Bonbons, Zuckerguss, 15x15x50cm

Der Ursprung vieler Wasserkraftwerke im Alpenraum liegt im Gletschereis. Die langfristigen Auswirkungen der Gletscher-Schmelze auf die Wasserkraft sind nicht seriös prognostizierbar. Eine aus Gletschereis-Bonbons erbaute maßstabsgetreue Akkuzelle soll veranschaulichen, dass sich Eis in Energie umwandelt und in flüchtige Bestandteile speichert.

Der Akku wird zum Symbol einer Epoche im Anthropozän, dem Batteriezeitalter. Die im Gletschereis gebundene Energie, welche über den Gletscherbach den Speichersee passiert, durch eine Turbine umgewandelt, über das Stromnetz verteilt und für kurze Zeit in Akku Zellen eingelagert wird, macht für einen „süßen“ Moment unser Leben komfortabler. Bevor die Energie aus dem Eis für immer verschwindet. Gleich einem Bonbon, einem Gletschereis Bonbon, das auf der Zunge zerfließt und für einen Augenblick Glücksgefühle auslöst. Ein flüchtiger Augenblick, gleich der verbleibenden Lebenszeit der Gletscher.

Lots of things have happened this past month; little flickers of good among the bad. One thing that’s been keeping me afloat is getting more into art and #acrylicpainting to supplement my cosplay and digital art hobbies. To continue my #mixedmedia journey I decided to go for a #threedimensionalart of a #koipond using a palette knife to build up lily pads and some air dry clay plus some wood glue for the back and eyes of the fish. Overall I’m super proud of the end result and was delighted to gift it to my next door neighbor who collects art (specifically local #nebraska artists).
