Dear Gus & Magnus,

I didn't take a photo today, so I found this one from the archives, taken on this day eight years ago. The day before Mom and I got married. Earlier in the day I'd bought cinderblocks and plywood from Home Depot that I arranged in the haybarn to make a stage for Amasa Hines to play our reception. I walked the pasture from Nana's house to Nene's to figure out if it would be dry enough for guests to walk it. (The next morning, I ended up carting bricks up there to create steps.) I think I took this picture at Men's Warehouse, but I don't know what I was doing there because I bought my suit at Bauman's. Maybe I bought that shirt and tie at MW? Regardless, a few hours later, we were at the Darwins' for our wedding eve dinner. A lifetime ago.

I knew I loved your mother back then, but I had no idea how much that love would grow. Or what it would be like to share two brilliant little boys with her.

finally giving fem danyal her own au and fulfilling my 'danny is an animal whisperer' agenda at the same time: mother of monsters danyal 2.0

i say "2.0" because TECHNICALLY 'mother of monsters danyal' is an au I made back in June for Dark fem!Danyal (who I promptly named Layal). However, I haven't posted much for her yet, and I like the "mother of monsters" premise too much to leave it only to Layal. Plus Danyal in that au was going to become the mother of monsters anyway, just with significantly less world domination and mass extinction.

'Animal whisperer' Danny has been something I've been thinking about since my latest DP 'wolfpack au' post and it's! So fun to think about, and who no better to assign the idea to than Danyal Al Ghul? Who comes from a family infamously known for their love of animals and nature?

Fem Danyal is just purely self-indulgent. *gestures wildly at her* i just lomvb,,, her,,,, I've only really mentioned her in context of the 'Things in Threes' au/my first Danyal al Ghul au with the facial scar, but she's!!! I love her. She deserves her own au <33

So kill three birds with one stone! Make a post about it.

Anyways, Danny has a large lair. Similar to cult leader danyal, her lair is a giant mountain region resembling nanda parbat with a big temple/palace-like area built into the mountain. It's large, it's overflowing with natural flora, with its own mini-floating islands hovering over some areas, and it's also completely empty.

Danny takes one look at her lair upon first meeting, -- noting that it looked relatively smaller from the outside -- and promptly, with the elegance of an Al Ghul, goes "What the hell??" Because yes, while she does enjoy her own solitude and privacy, this is a bit ridiculous.

For heaven's sake, there's even a massive lake in there! What's she going to do with all this space? Can she make it any smaller? Why is it so big in the first place? This looks borderline like one of the mega-islands!

She finds out later that apparently, the amount of ectoplasm a ghost has can have an effect on the size of their lair. And since she has such a large core, her lair reflects that. Wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff, it's bigger on the inside so it doesn't take up "too much space" on the outside. Don't worry about it too much.

Danyal isn't totally opposed to having such a large lair, she's just... a bit baffled by it. It feels like so much wasted space is all. All this flora and no fauna to enjoy it with. It's practically eerie.

She decorates her temple-palace area, transforming rooms to match her needs as she sees fit. In the center of the inner gardens is a massive tree that she likes to climb, with twisting, winding branches. Sam and Tucker have honorary rooms, even if they can't safely leave the specter speeder for long periods of time, even with proper safety equipment. So does Jazz. Ali (Dani) has one too, but he can actually use that one, and Danny brought him to her lair so he could decorate it himself.

She has a personal garden, but for the most part she lets the flora exist as it is. Too much space to cultivate it en masse anyways.

Skip to a few weeks later, on her next visit to Clockwork. She developed a habit of going to see him semi-regularly just because. She enjoys his wisdom, and he has a lot of stories to tell, and when he's not being the cryptic and esoteric timekeeper, he's a bit goofy.

(pushing my dadwork agenda here,,, i think Danny deserves to go 'hey, Lord Clockwork, do you want me to buy you something' while she's at walmart, only to receive a singular glowing sticky note that says 'cucumber gatorade'.)

(She insists on referring to him with his proper titles even for the most mundane of things because it's proper, but Clockwork sees a future where she eventually calls him "Cee" and by all things in existence is he determined to get there. Anyways,,,)

On her next visit to Clockwork, just as she is about to leave, Clockwork stops her and goes; "Ah, I have something for you. Hold out your hands."

Danny does as such, and Clockwork doesn't give out things often, so her curiosity has spiked to the highest levels. He turns away from her for a moment, using his staff to summon whatever it is he needs, and when he turns around.

He drops a fish into her hands. Granted, a fish in a small glass tank. But a fish nonetheless. A small one, roughly about the size of her finger, with a blue-black, eel-shaped body and four sets of glowing eyes. She can see thin, almost translucent, but spiny fins down its back and the start of bioluminescent markings. It's swimming around in circles in its small container.

"Lord Clockwork." Danyal says all too calmly.

"Yes, Danyal?"

"What is this?"

"That is an adolescent leviathan, Danyal." She’s transfixed onto the tank, but she doesn’t need to see Clockwork’s face to hear the smile he’s stifling.

The myriad of emotions that runs through her all at once threatens to overwhelm her, and she can’t tell if the feelings are negative or positive. So she carefully closes her eyes to breathe in through her nose.

“Clockwork.”

“Ah, I see you’ve dropped formalities.”

She ignores that.

“Why have you given me an adolescent leviathan?”

She's expecting the trickster to look amused when she opens her eyes. Instead, he just looks endeared. "I know you're fond of animals," he says, "and you always look amazed when you come across an animal of the realms. So I thought you might enjoy taking care of the young beast, it's mother is dead so it has no one to care for it."

Oh.

"But, if you don't like it," Clockwork's hands reach out for the tank, "I can simply take it back--"

Danyal shifts the tank out from his reach and hugs it possessively. "I never said that. How do I care for it?"

And so clockwork gives her a list, and when Danyal returns to her lair, she sets up a large tank in her room for the leviathan to swim in -- it's much too small for the lake right now, she thinks. She'll feel better if it's somewhere she can find it. She names him Suhā.

Suhā grows quickly, and by the end of the mortal month she transforms one of the rooms into a large pond for him to swim around in. He's a very loyal beast, recognizing her as it's mother of some kind. Danyal takes great care ensuring that her beastie gets quality care, and Suhā swims to the surface to see her when he senses her in the room.

It spirals from there. Somehow, Pandora catches wind that Clockwork gave her a leviathan, and so the next time Danyal visits the Greater Athens, she gives her a baby chimera. It's eyes are still sealed shut, Danyal can't bring herself to say no. She names the little beastie Firas.

Frostbite hears about it too, and not to be outdone, gives her an animal she's never even heard of. Infinite-realms born, apparently. A fox-like creature with two small horns like an impala, four eyes, and tall legs. The name isn't something she's quite sure how to write down, and she's positive that her friends won't be able to comprehend it. She names her Eira.

Getting the three of them used to each other was... interesting. Suhā tried to eat Firas when Danyal first introduced the two, and they've hated each other ever since. Firas and Eira are seemingly getting along. Her island already feels full enough with the three of them on it.

Of course, that's not the end of it. With her luck, she begins stumbling across other monsters. Realms-borne or otherwise. An injured hydra in the Grecian islands that, through lots of trial and error, Danyal is able to rehabilitate and heal. It routinely comes to visit her afterwards.

A griffin with a broken wing that she moves permanently to the island that likes to keep to itself, but tends to come down when she's near. It gets along best with Firas.

A panther-like monster from the Shades Woods that had six legs and three tails, with ends that reminded her of a venus flytrap. It stuck around the heavy foliage and she can only make out where it was when she saw its golden eyes reflect.

She befriends a young indrik with its leg injured, and much like the hydra it follows her back to her island, and stays there in the mountains. It comes out when she's alone, much like her other beasts.

She receives two more leviathan -- one from clockwork, and one she finds herself while exploring the deeper and darker recesses of the Ghost Zone. It was huddled against the carcass of its mother, and she managed to befriend and get close enough to it to bring it back to her island. Suhā is fully grown by then, with a head bigger than Danyal herself and he still likes to stick her head out of the water for nuzzles when she's near.

He's not very happy with his new siblings, but he's not trying to eat them when she's not looking. So she calls it a win in her book.

And it's not just large beasts either; smaller animals begin popping up when she's not looking. Bird-like creatures and small mammals, and she swears she saw a doe (or something resembling a doe) grazing in the forest while she was walking by.

She takes back with her a lone snake egg once, and it grows so big it wraps around her island and sleeps with its massive head on the mountain beside the temple, like some smaller breed of Jörmungandr.

And on and on it goes. Some of the beasts she comes across never step foot onto her island, some of them follow her back, while others she has to carry back. Not all of the ones that follow her stay, and Danny rehabilitates the injured and releases them when they're fully healed.

It's hectic, and busy, and frankly she loves it. Some of her rehabilitated beasts return to visit her, or to have their children somewhere on the island, or whatever it is they need to do.

She becomes a bit infamous for it. She goes to visit Dorathea once, and as she's walking through the streets she can hear some of the denizens whispering while she walks past.

"Is that her?"

"Her highness' friend? Yes--"

"--that's the one--"

"--Mother of monsters--"

Danny's not sure how to feel about that.

Although, she can't say she's opposed.

Danyal Al Ghul, Mother of monsters, raiser of beasts. It has a nice ring to it.

notes: it’s all deco, however i did manage to make a functional stereo version of the boom blocks. it doesn’t have the fx on purpose, i found the stereo rings to be annoying but rest assured it works just as intended. i really wanted to make the jewelry stand functional, but i struggled immensely with it lol. (believe me, somehow it worked only for it throw errors the next day like ?!) so please, if you have the skills go for it!! i accepted defeat with that haha. most items have subsets, but not all. and for some reason, the functional boom blocks did not like it when i attempted to add subset lol. also, i added a collection file this time around! it made sense being a kit and all. it has the EA Games logo on it. :]

following on from this. not to always bring marc into everything (sorry marc) but if assen 2015 had happened against jorge, valentino would have very likely pulled something similar again imo. rather than what he actually did, which is approach marc almost immediately for a nice normal friendly handshake and backing off during the podium celebrations. should be noted that during laguna seca '08, valentino was very much committed to yapping at casey on the podium with the world's biggest smuggest grin on his face

partly that disparity is because jorge not marc was the direct title rival, partly it's because valentino was treating marc with kid gloves right until the second that he wasn't, which marc was seemingly entirely oblivious to. if anyone other than marc had said what he said in that presser, had then continued on with similar rhetoric during sachsenring, valentino would quite likely have gone nuclear. he's done it over less than that. his fondness for marc made him continue to exhibit uncharacteristic restraint... except that fondness unfortunately is what left valentino feeling so very betrayed when (to his eyes) marc could not leave well enough alone

I can do that instead!!! and then one thing led to another and we joked about punk ringo and I drew that too. using ringo like a dressup doll is so cathartic it's kinda crazy

Thinking about an AU where Ritsu is the one who ends up being Reigen's student instead. Say he's there when Mob sees the sign, dissuades him from going in because "it's probably a scam anyway!" But then of course, little envious Ritsu ends up coming back the next day, unable to help himself at the chance, the possibility that someone could help him develop psychic powers like his brother. He figures Reigen out almost immediately, of course, because he demands to be shown Reigen's power. But Ritsu is desperate, and Reigen has always had a kind way with words, and soon enough Ritsu and Reigen are going ghosts adventures! Leaving Mob behind :') Even more alone than before :'))

And as S&S fills up with things of ACTUAL spiritual significance, like artifacts and purified salt and herbs at Ritsu's obsessive insistence as he tries to find an in to psychic powers and Reigen tries to encourage him without encouraging him, Ritsu and Reigen get closer. Ritsu is more surly than Mob, less inherently trusting and more emotional, more easily annoyed—but he has no reason to hate Reigen in this verse. Reigen has never even met Mob, much less used his powers for his own gain. Reigen grows incredibly fond of this desperate boy, good at everything but the one thing he wants to be good at, and tries to lead him away from those feelings of jealousy and inadequacy. In turn, Ritsu himself is healthier. A little easier going, though still almost perpetually bristling with temper 😮‍💨

He and Mob are closer as a result! He becomes Mob's only friend, more open with his own thoughts and feelings and, thanks to Reigen, far less afraid of him. Mob is more emotionally stunted than ever, and though he has some tentative acquaintances in the Telepathy club, he's still mostly alone and isolated. All of Reigen's helpful advice on dealing with his autism (identified by how Ritsu speaks about his Shige-nii and the behaviors he says he exhibits) is relayed through Ritsu, who comes to understand Mob a little more because of it.

But—oh, didn't I mention? This is a soulmate AU :)

Ritsu has two marks; one for Mob, and one for Reigen. Mob never develops a mark for Ritsu, but he expects that, obviously. Reigen also doesn't develop a mark for Ritsu, but given their age difference, Ritsu also expects that. He's a smart boy, and he knows that not all soulmarks are reciprocated. It's fine. They don't need to be. Ritsu has mostly made peace with his lot in life.

That is, before Mob and Reigen finally meet in person. And instantly develop matching soulmarks.

...Ritsu's psychic awakening is only slightly better than his brother's.

if anyone has been on finasteride, how long did it take to see regrowth? i’m on my fourth month and i thought i was seeing new hairs but every day, it’s harder and harder to cover up the areas of my head where i have super thin strands. the density of my hair has drastically changed in a matter of weeks and you can see more of my scalp every day which is… incredibly concerning.

Weight. There's a weight on his chest, a comfort as he feels his chest expand.

He runs the corner, heart rate hammering at the sight of Chay with a gun pressed to his head.

His finger twitches, soft fabric brushing against warmth, cotton -- a shirt.

The kidnapper sees him and lowers the gun, aiming at Chay's chest then abdomen, his own gun in his hand and a command on the tip of his tongue. Then two sharp bangs fill the room, soft and muffled, Chay's arms curling around his stomach as he instantly curls and drops to his knees. An all consuming rage burns through his veins, and the kidnapper only grins.

His body shifts, and warm sunlight penetrates through the cover of his eyelids indicating morning has arrived.

Chay's name is released through a guttural scream as he watches the boy fall limp onto the dusty floor.

Blurry sight of a white ceiling meets his opened eyes, his mind still fogged from sleep -- the most restful he's gotten in days.

He rushes forward, anger and panic flushing through his nerves. As one body after another falls by a combined effort of force between hand and gun, until he is the only thing standing between his opponents and Chay, the kidnapper had disappeared.

The weight of him shifts and he looks down, watching and realizing who lays on him. He feels the calm facial features change as the boy nuzzles into him.

He whips around, already twisting his limbs out of both jacket and the shirt underneath, placing the two items on Chay's abdomen in an attempt to stop the bleeding.

"Why are you pretending to sleep?"

"P'Kim." his soft call, and hand raised towards the older, moving until his hand grips around Kim's wrist, strength already weakening.

"I'm scared."

"Sh, don't talk." Tears streamed down both their cheeks. "We'll get through this…and you can yell at me for fucking up." he places more pressure on the site. "Just stay awake."

"I've always felt unlucky, until I realized that all my luck was to find you."

"Kim!"

Kinn's wrenching yell snapped his head up, the fear he can see in his brother's eyes is gazed behind him.

"Behind…you." Chay's whispered warning steeped in panic and fear for him makes him realize.

"I love you." Chay smiles up at him. "Do you love me?"

Kim realizes that it's too late as he hears the click behind him. With the softest smile, he stares into Chay's widened eyes, "I love you."

He wants to correspond with his own confession, but this has gone too far built on lies, so what's one more.

"I'm hungry." he responds, numb and unsure.

Chay leaves to make breakfast, and he watches from inside his mind, his body moving.

He's had this dream multiple times, where he's been faster at realizing the danger that comes for the boy, for both of them. The regret of walking away later, of not speaking up.

He sits for a little at the table, knowing the exact words he says, the banter, and when they hear the bell.

His eyes cast over the eggs wishing he could entertain the freedom with Chay, but knows that he'll write those words.

Is this his punishment? For him to vividly remember where he wished to change the sequence of events?

He feels the pen, but his hand doesn't move, then he hears Chay yelling for him. He's off in a shot, and the younger is far closer to the gate then what he can remember. He doesn't stop to question what is going on, he keeps going wrestling Chay out of his attacker's grip, the cloth had been over his nose and mouth for barely over a second, his other hand going for that offender's hand and twisting until he feels the snap.

Pulling the younger behind him and backing them farther into the yard, "Go back inside, Chay!" he orders him, moving a step forward, but a grip on his shirt stops him, he turns.

Chay stares at him in shock.

He turns his back on the attackers, grabbing Chay's bicep and pulling him back to the doors. "I promise to explain, but please go back inside." he pushed him forward a little harder than he means to.

Now being able to fully focus on the intruders with Chay being a safer distance away from them, he's able to fight as he's been taught.

When's he's able to turn the taser back on the owner a second taser hits his torso, but this time he knows it's coming, the advantage of somehow being back. Both men fall and his muscles jumble, his knees hitting the ground hard. Looking up to find the crew all knock out, his mind comes with the solution of getting them both to safety.

Finding his feet again, he rushes back inside. "Chay!" he yells, but the boy is nowhere to be see. "Chay!" he tries louder, enough of a strain that his voice pitches in desperation. "Porchay!"

"P'Kim."

The soft reply makes him turn into the kitchen, Chay sits on the floor against the cabinets, he kneels down next to him, hands hovering.

"I'm tired."

The distant gaze makes him shake his head, the memories from seeing the blood and pale skin on the dusty warehouse floor blur, his jaw clenches for just a moment. "It's the chloroform, you can sleep in the car." Kim gets an arm behind his shoulders while putting Chay's arm across his own, "Let's get you packed for a few days."

Chay follows his movements, finding the strength to stand, though his form leans into Kim. "Packed?"

"My place is safer. Let's get you up to your room so you can pack."

"Not…my room." Chay groans, attempting to hide his face away.

Kim mentally questions Chay's embarrassment before smirking, "I already know about your fan shrine."

"P'Kim." Chay whines out.

Kim is very much enjoying having Chay in his arms again, though he'd prefer him wrapped around him with his own strength.

Been quietly figuring out which E.G.O Sherry has ... been making some adjustments, lately, since I want her to have the same amount of E.G.O as the other Sinners (so, currently she can have 7, including her default), but also I need them to make sense.
