@wranglens : tyler , offering a cap that says ' tornado wrangler ' on the front to cathy : 🤠 we got new merchandise in . ( hi momma )
she plucks the sunglasses off of her face, folding one side against her chest before hanging them on her shirt. but even while her eyes were obscured by the dark glass it was obvious that her eyebrows were raised and her face was knit together in a little amused expression. she takes the cap, staring at the text on it as her head nods. this is hardly the first gesture of free merch he's given her, but it's somewhat more subtle of a design this time that she won't spend the evening laughing at. "sweet, thank you."
with one hand she brushes her hair back from her forehead, it's already a little sweaty and hot from the half day of working outside. slipping the cap on like it's about any other of the million she's got around the house, she gives him a wide grin. "y'know ya might have a hit on your hands here."

crossing the front of the property, cathy closes the distance between the front door and tyler's truck where he stands, looking more shaken than the poor chickens on the fourth of july.
"what's this i'm hearin' about you not joinin' us at the state fair?" kate's fine, kate's perfectly fine, and safe, as long as you don't count the earful of questions she just stood through from cathy about why in god's name tyler is skipping out on an occasion that she's dubbed the second best sight in all of oklahoma. an hour and a half drive away, if they're lucky, it's tradition. it's tradition that tyler is no longer free from after having spent plenty of nights under cathy's roof, and behind kate's door though she won't mention that she knows that. "you better not be chasin', not with the state of y'r head." because if he thinks a chase takes priority over this, well then it's certainly out of shape still.
“tyler owens!”
(from cathy ofc)
cue tyler who was , by the way , blissfully and very unworriedly working at fixing up some of the roping around his truck's anenometer , without any nerves in his stomach whatsoever ( a thing which he very much enjoyed for the good half hour he's been out here ) jumping a good four feet up in the air , in an eerily similar manner to a spooked cat .
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ❝ WHAT ?! ❞
he's bent double . holy shit . he's in trouble . that's it , that's all it can be . he totally fucked something up that he doesn't even know yet . that's , like , two thirds of his full name , and that's enough for him when it's kate's mother on the line . holy shit .
ㅤ❝ what ? sorry , what ? oh my god . is kate okay ? ❞

The music industry has been essentially shut down with the cancellation of music performances, events, festivals, conferences and the many other live events that are the cornerstone of the shared music experience. Since the fund's establishment in March, over 14,000 clients have been served, with many more still needing help.
Show co-creator Peter Rotter says: "When the pandemic tragically hit our world and began to shut down our film music community, I felt that something needed to be done to help those who were in need of support and care. Through MusiCares® we have found the charitable vehicle that can come alongside our hurting musical family.
"Music has always played a role in history; reflecting both the subtle and monumental moments of our lives through its unique DNA. Music connects each of us, acting as a common thread of unification, opening the hearts of all people.
"Regardless of the color of one's skin, status or station in life, music powerfully breaks through boundaries as its message permeates deep within us; healing our human frailties and condition at our cores. Music is transformative and personal. It powerfully underscores our lives."
"Music has always helped transport, uplift and inspire us through wars, economic hardships, health crises and societal upheavals," says show co-creator, Richard Kraft. "When COVID-19 hit, it threatened the lives and livelihood of much of our Film & TV Music community. So, we decided to create an online special that both celebrates the soundtrack of our lives and benefits, via MusiCares®, the artists who create it."
Starting June 25th at noon pacific, watch the video on Youtube via Rolling Stone, Variety & GRAMMY's channels, as well as on www.soundtracklives.com. Donate at soundtracklives.com now!

cathy's head doesn't turn at first squeak. she doesn't need eyes on the back of her head to know that kate's face is turning redder than the truck parked out front and that it comes together in a small expression -- the same she's had countless times over the years when cathy can't help a question or perhaps offers out a fact about a younger version of her daughter. it's part of her job to do those things, and it never comes from any place of harm.
but then kate's mumbling more, and cathy near loses the dish in her hand from laugher, "OH!" sliding from the soap, she catches the edge in the sink before it collides and leaves a crack or splinters, as has been the fate of so many other dishes. head turned over her shoulder, she's met by the sight of the back of kate's head. hand wet and soapy, she pets down her hair anyways. "well that answers that question." turning off the sink, cathy swipes for a kitchen towel, now with a grin permanently fixed to her face. "it's good. it's good that neither of y'all are rushin' that."
@entriprises ( cathy carter ) said: “i’m just askin’!” cathy doesn’t turn her attention away from the dish she’s been scrubbing at. “i’m allowed to ask, ‘specially when you’re both under my roof.” she places one of the plates in the drying rack, humming, “but if it ain’t anything then it ain’t anything.”
“ mama! ” she squeaks her protest again, nearly dropping the napkin she had been folding into a neat little triangle, catching it before it flutters to the kitchen floor. there’s little hiding the raging flush spread across kate’s cheeks, creeping down towards her neck and chest in rosy splotches. kate’s gaze darts down with a pointed look to the brace wrapped around her knee, her mumble slipping out without any real thought behind it : “ it’s not like either one of us are very much fit for anythin’ right now. ”
KATE GASPS as if just realizing what she said, and promptly shuts her mouth. her head snaps towards the front window, wincing for a moment when her ear throbs and the world lurches nauseatingly to the left. she can just makes out tyler as he sits with his own braced leg propped up, supervising as the rest of the wranglers sort through what’s salvageable and what isn’t from his truck. she feels stupid, it’s not like he can hear her. still, she stares for what would probably be considered too long by any sort of reasonably sane person.

cathy says nothing, lips pressed together, when nora calls her ma’am. she’s given the farm hand a reminder already, earlier in the day, that the title is really not all that necessary. she’d given her the same reminder a day before, and the day she started. it’s one of those things that cathy knows will take time — just as it had with some of kate’s friends. her hand shields her eyes, gaze following nora’s towards the sky. it’s another thing cathy knows well.
her back leans against the front door, keeping it open for the other to walk through first, “best not to underestimate the weather. as much as i appreciate the repairs, it ain’t worth chancin’ ya having puddles in your boots for the rest of the week.” her eyes quickly take in the size of nora’s shoes — it crosses her mind however briefly that maybe she might be able to loan a pair, be it hers or kate’s. “and wait we will, unless you’re hoping to scrub my floors.” stepping inside, door shutting behind her, she walks around nora towards the kitchen. rain or not, cathy’s always moving, finding something to task herself with, much like nora she supposes. “i’m making tea, can i get you any?” she asks, though there’s already two mugs on the counter.
Nora presses an unruly corner of chicken wire up against one of the fence slats with one hand, and secures it to the wood with a satisfying thunk of the staple gun in the other. The garden had appeared dormant for some time, and now they were being rewarded with bright green growth starting to poke out of the dark soil. She moved around the rows of sprouts carefully, tossing the gun back onto the dirt momentarily as she used both hands to pull the mesh around the corner of the plot. Thunk.
"leave that and come on inside." cathy stands on the porch, trying to wave nora in, "it's gonna start pouring any minute. i've put off fixin' that for years, it can wait another couple of hours till the weather's better." - @entriprises
Cathy's call drew Nora out of the routine with a grin and a phantom tip of a hat, "Yes ma'am." The light sweat on her forehead protested the call of rain, but Nora had learned not to question Cathy's sense for the sky's fickle secrets. Looking up, she saw the clouds a stretch away had grown heavier as she had been working, just waiting for a draft to bring their cover to the farmhouse. She slipped the thick garden gloves into her pocket, leaving the roll of wire mesh but grabbing everything else as she nudged the concrete block back in front of the gate. Realigning the latch was next on her list, but the block served well enough for now. "Y'know, I reckon I could've gotten that last side done in time," the grin was back, "we'll have to wait for the ground to dry out unless you want me tracking mud."

@tornadotame : “ mom? ” her voice comes out a warbling croak, instead of the intended whisper. she feels like an unmoored child, rather than the adult she is. it’s silly, they said goodnight hours ago, but sleep has alluded kate - she can still feel the winds cutting against her skin, the damp pool piping beneath her white knuckled grip, tyler against her back, the mother comforting her daughter…. javi’s snarling, truthful words. kate shifts, and the floor creaks. she raises her hands to press them painfully into her eyes. “ mama? can i sleep with you? ”
cathy had stared at the ceiling for longer than she would've liked. kate, back down the hall, should be normal and natural, but her heart keeps her mind awake with so many thoughts of how her baby is and what her baby might need. when she covers her eyes with her arms, sleep eventually finds its way to her. it's a light sort of thing -- kate might have a sense for storms, but cathy has a sense for all things brewing under her own roof. sure enough, something comes to pull her out of her sleep -- the tall form of her daughter at the door. her eyes open but they don't need time to try and make sense of the scene. blind, in darkness, with her back turned she'd always recognize kate. tall as she gets, there's still the same little voice, the same outline.
"of course." she shifts, pulling back the covers on the empty side of the bed-- it's been empty for decades, cathy never having taken towards sleeping in the center. "of course, honey."

Nightingale & Peregrine Chapter Three
For those of you new to this series, here’s The Beginning
Previous, Next
...
Mandie was fully aware that Emily hid a lot. She was old friends with Diana, it was impossible not to have secrets. The fact that Moses was Emily’s son didn’t actually surprise her, he had his mother’s skill for speaking without saying anything. He was terrible at facial expressions though, especially his disappointment when he couldn’t take home food.
Her observations on her new acquaintance led to her walking into Helena’s door, presumably loud enough for a normal person to hear. She opened it to see Helena looking at her with a face she had seen to many times.
The face said, “for a sensitive, you sure are unaware of your surroundings.”
She was glad for Helena being non-verbal, it saved her the time of an instinctive lecture.
Mandie sat on the floor to face Helena.
“Did you like Emily’s son?”
She shrugged.
“Do you still dislike Emily?”
Shrug again.
“If you can't give me a straight answer then I guess it's time for bed.”
Helena gave her a critical look.
“Your bed, my work.”
Crossed arms and a pout.
“You’re eight, you have to be at least ten to be a superhero.”
Helena huffed, but moved from the floor to her bed, pulled the sheet up, waved goodnight, and flopped down, somehow managing not to hit the wall behind her. She may not like it, but Helena was good at doing what she was told--Mandie shivered at the thought of what somebody else would do with that knowledge.
She sat on the bed next to Helena, pushing the hair off the girl’s face. She was peaceful, and almost looked sweet. Mandie been around her enough to know she wasn’t sweet. Loyal to a fault, a stockpile of energy, a powerhouse, all could fit for Helena, but she wasn’t sweet. Another descriptor could be asleep.
Mandie stepped out, closing the door as quietly as possible. She listened for a beat to make sure Helena hadn’t just gotten good at pretending to sleep. Wait, what about brushing her teeth?
She opened the door again and got close enough to smell Helena’s breath. Yep, it smelled like the watermelon toothpaste she’d let Helena pick out. Mandie had to remind herself that this was part of a normal childhood, and Helena deserved that, even if it gave Mandie a headache.
...
After a few moments of reassuring herself Helena was fine, Mandie was finally in the basement, her beloved place of work.
Mandie took a second to look at the equipment, all hightech, none typical for a seamstress. She grabbed the belt off of the workbench. Taking a deep breath, she placed it on her waist and pressed the two buttons on the sides.
More white threads than any human could or should count began coming out. She focused on the threads, weaving them together into the durable cloth that made the costume.
“Dense at the chest, light on the arms, skirt and pants medium.”
She took a second to smile at her handiwork, especially at the yellow threads that made it look like the outfit had seams tonight.
She grabbed her cellphone and punched in the number she needed.
“Misty here!”
“Are you--”
“On my way!”
“Wait!”
No response, but Misty hadn’t hung up.
“She’s asleep right now, don’t wake her up.”
“Got it!” Misty hung up.
With the baby-sitter out of the way, Mandie grabbed her mask. Nightingale was ready for a fight.
Except for the part where the only shoes she could find were her heels. Her proper boots were somewhere in the house, but she had to go soon.
...
Ace of Spades was predictable. He had chosen the less likely counterclockwise pattern of warehouse movement, but predictable. The part where he still wasn’t there, though annoying, didn’t make him any less predictable.
Nightingale closed her eyes to read the room. They all had the same question on their minds as she did : “Where’s the boss?”
“Sorry to tell you this boys,” his voice bounced around the room, Nightingale wasn’t sure where it came from, “but you’re all bait.” An energy went through the room, giving her a headache and turning all the goons unconscious, which kept her from realizing a hand was pushing her on the back.
She was able to land without hurting herself, but just barely. She stood and looked up to see there was someone where she had just been.
“You really enjoy turning the tables, don’t you?”
“I like to make the beginning and the end match.” Ace of Spades jumped down and began walking towards her, cane swinging in hand.
When he got close enough, the cane swung for her head. She ducked, feeling an energy just above her. She pushed her own energy through her arm and hit him in the stomach, sending him back.
He stood up and started shortening the gap she’d made between them. She moved back.
“To be honest,” he said, “I didn’t expect the heels.”
“figured I’d give you as fair a fight as I could.” She ran towards him to kick him in the chest. The singular advantage of heels was that they could cause some serious hurt.
Pain. She was on the ground and he was unhurt. She got up just as he pointed the cane at her neck, same energy pulsing through it as before. She backed up as he moved forward, until she hit a wall.
The cane seemed important to him. She reached for it with her mind, but it was slippery somehow. Then it was sideways on her neck, pressed close.
“I was told once if you ever find yourself in a fair fight, you've done something wrong,” Ace of Spades told her, “so, Nightingale, what have you done wrong?”
He was an idiot. Her hands were free, and then they were pulling the cane away from her neck. He pushed back. She added a bit of extra force.
“Aaaaahhh!”
It was painful enough to make her scream, and that was when the only points of contact were her hands.
When he let go, and the pain stopped, she opened her eyes.
Ace of Spades was unconscious on the ground. She bent down and pressed her fingers to his temple to get a surface reading on him. Not unconscious, catatonic. She racked her brain for the procedure her teacher had taught her.
…
“The only time a Psychic is harmless is in a state of catatonia.”
“Maybe I shouldn’t be here then,” Kitty said, filing down her claws.
Mandie rolled her eyes. Kitty looked the mean girl, but played the jokester.
“Catatonia has nothing to do with Kitty’s name sake,” their teacher replied, “can anyone tell me what it is?”
Mandie pushed the words “I can” into his mind.
“Mr. Peters, what is it?”
She still lost.
Carter smirked, “When someone is in an immobile stupor.”
“Ms. Piec, your answer?”
Either Carter got it wrong, or the teacher was in a mood to damage someone’s ego, or both. Mandie was taking her chance no matter what.
“The definition for a psychic catatonia is when the mind, although able to maintain basic bodily functions, stops.”
“Exactly!”
“Like what happened to the boy Mandie kissed at homecoming?” Carter asked.
“I--he--”
“How did you get him out of it professor?” Kitty asked.
“Well in the shows you shock the heart to bring it back to life. Since the mind isn’t dead with catatonia, you can shock it back to life, so to speak.”
…
Fear and pain work best,” Nightingale muttered. Luckily, she’d just had a moment full of pain and terror that she could pull up for this very purpose.
She took a deep breath before pressing her fingers to his temple again, bringing her forehead close to his. Focusing on the pain she’d just felt, she closed her eyes, and projected that memory. For a brief moment she saw three people and felt a bit happier, but it faded when Ace of Spades gasped for air, breaking the connection.
Nightingale moved herself back up, grabbing the cane as she went.
“I’m keeping this.” She walked out through the doors of the warehouse, checked to see if he was watching, and disappeared, grateful stealth mode hadn’t been damaged by the fight.
…
If Mandie had thought, she would’ve put a bug somewhere on Ace of Spades. As it stood she was sitting in her basement with bandaged palms, waiting for Catherine to message her back.
“Where did you get this?”
Or call her. That couldn’t be good news. She made mental note to make sure she had warning on calls, even if she had to accept them.
“Fighting the most recent menace to my town.”
“Is that why I got feedback from you?”
Mandie occasionally forgot about the psychic link between she and her sister since the distance of their homes meant they only felt anything from it during intense emotional situations.
“That was either from the pain, or from the part where I had to push him out of catatonia.”
“What pain?”
“Are you watching me?”
“Of course.”
Mandie showed her bandaged hands to the camera.
“Eek, was it the cane?”
“Yeah.”
“Did you use your powers too?”
“Too?”
Mandie’s screen showed a patent she’d seen before.
“It’s dad’s design Mandie, our tech.”
“Your gloves.”
“Except designed for telekinesis instead of electric shocks.”
“This is great news.”
Catherine took a moment to respond with, “Our tech is being stolen and this is great news?”
“It means this guy is a telekinetic, which is a parameter you can search for on the database.”
“I love you Mandie, but you are way too much of an optimist.”
“Are you still running that program?”
Silence. Maybe that was too mean.
“I have to go to sleep, but I’ll look through the database for you tomorrow.” Catherine hung up

there's nor shortage of chairs around the waiting room. it makes finding tyler easy, amongst other things, when cathy turns her head towards the waiting room in passing. kate's room is only a number of paces back from where she'd existed, now in search of some unimpressive coffee and something possibly from a vending machine that might be more to her daughter's liking. she's in no rush though, not with kate having already started to doze off again before cathy was up. she takes the detour into the waiting room, picking the chair besides the exhausted shower-desperate cowboy.
"i do my best," she offers a little smile, "don't know what they've told you 'bout her, but she'll be alright." she'll be more than alright -- cathy's certain of that. there's a fire that's been relit in kate. "how's that leg of yours?"
“we don't know each other well, but if you need anything… door’s open.” // @entriprises
Chin tucked against his chest, arms crossed loosely, Tyler nods off only to startle awake a second or two later. It is a viscous cycle, but one he doesn't put much effort into ending. The doctor's had no real reason to admit him, his injuries mostly superficial. Best they could guess was that the streetcar had caused fractures in multiple bones across his shin and knee, but they were stable with no real risk for further complication, so he'd been released from the er with a hulking, annoying brace strapped onto his leg, some pain pills, and strict orders to follow up with an orthopedist.
And Tyler would - he'd spent enough time in hospital waiting rooms to take doctor's orders seriously. He'd just also marched, well limped but Tyler's holding onto some pride here, over to the stiff chairs, determined to wait for Kate. The doctor's had refused to tell him anything; he isn't family.
He groans a little, hands pushing against the arm rests so he can sit up properly. Then, he rubs his eyes, annoyed by the blurry fatigue that's set in and hasn't left. "Kate's real lucky to have you," Tyler says softly, voice hoarse after everything.

Showrunners of the Year David Lynch and Mark Frost Stole Summer 2017 with Twin Peaks: The Return
Agent Cooper's 18-hour odyssey was emotional, hilarious, and eerily prescient
“Every day, once a day, give yourself a present,” Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) tells Sheriff Harry Truman (Michael Ontkean) early on in the first season of Twin Peaks. “Don’t plan it. Don’t wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men’s store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.” Every self-respecting fan of the groundbreaking cult series knows this quote — in fact, it currently sits at the top of the Quotes section of its IMDb profile — but for good reason. It’s a fair warning for anyone heading into Twin Peaks, a series that gives as much as it takes, as long as everyone’s willing to do exactly as Coop suggests: wait and see.
Patience is hard to come by these days, which is why Twin Peaks: The Return still feels like such a gift. Yet, for an entire summer, showrunners David Lynch and Mark Frost stole Sunday night from every fan who tuned into Showtime each week. Never once did anyone have a clue what to expect, from its four-episode premiere on Sunday, May 21st right down to its two-episode finale on Sunday, September 3rd, and never once did anyone walk away truly underwhelmed. They may have been disappointed, or confused, or even aggravated, but there was rarely a moment that the series didn’t stir up some kind of severe emotional response. It was event television … and totally by design.
youtube
“The original run of the show really benefited from the fact that nobody knew about ‘binging’ back then,” Frost recently told Digital Spy. “To roll out the episodes one week after the other gave people time to digest and theorize and talk amongst themselves. The Internet has obviously enhanced that ability exponentially. I don’t particularly enjoy binging myself… I steered us away from Netflix in this instance right from the start, because I didn’t feel that was the right format to roll out this particular show. With Showtime, we were able to more or less replicate the original experience – one a week, take your time, think about it, write about it, talk about it, then come back for more.”
Granted, Twin Peaks: The Return was hardly the ubiquitous watercooler show that Showtime initially hoped for, but there was admittedly a select contingent of diehard fans that relished the show’s mysterious glory online. For over three months, the series kept them in a tailspin as they theorized over every little detail through Reddit threads, Twitter debates, and in-depth podcast episodes. Once “Starring Kyle MacLachlan” materialized on the screen, it was as if every fan put on their Wire best, hitting the drawing boards with stickies, Post-it notes, and index cards at their disposal. Within hours, there were countless theories, memes, and hot takes, all to varying degrees of intrigue.
Then again, that was always going to happen with Twin Peaks. The series’ faithful has carried the torch for over two decades, throwing annual festivals and publishing monthly gazettes, all during era when virtually nothing was happening in the franchise. So, it wasn’t surprising to see such a reaction when The Return finally premiered last May. What was surprising was how Lynch and Frost were able to keep them in the dark from beginning to end. After all, mystery is as rare as patience in today’s day and age, both are incredibly undervalued, which is why you get pedantic movie trailers and on-demand models are all the rage. Today belongs to the consumer, not the artist.
That logic has never worked for Lynch — or Frost, for that matter — which is why creative control was always going to be paramount for The Return. Let’s not forget that the whole thing nearly collapsed on itself, back when Showtime initially balked at the idea of committing to 18 episodes as opposed to the original order of nine. To both parties’ credit, Lynch and Frost held their ground, the network relented, and the rest is history. Or rather, the rest is now a testament to what happens when earned auteurs are left to their own devices, and are allowed to exercise their greatest strengths. Because, like “Part Eight”, The Return is one giant nuclear explosion of blistering ingenuity.
Where else could you find something as deeply disturbing as The Woodsmen? Or as emotionally satisfying as Big Ed and Norma’s much-delayed embrace? Or as downright beautiful as the last three minutes of “Part 17”? What show featured 237 damn good performances from venerable actors and actresses, ranging from Jim Belushi to Laura Dern, Matthew Lillard to Naomi Watts? Scratch that, what show had this much venerable talent from beyond the grave? For many, The Return was one last chance to wave goodbye to fallen heroes like Miguel Ferrer, Catherine E. Coulsen, Don S. Davis, and even the Thin White Duke himself, David Bowie. It was surreal, to say the least.
Even more surreal was how the show eerily echoed our own state of being. Despite the fact that Lynch and Frost toiled over the script years ago, The Return wound up saying more about 2017 than almost every other film or television show. In many ways, we were Agent Cooper/Dougie Jones, mutely stumbling around an American wasteland that’s been ravaged by untenable evil. That image of him standing underneath the gunslinger statue at the end of “Part Five”, to the moody sounds of Johnny Jewel’s “Windswept”, unconsciously captured the zeitgeist of 2017 America. Here’s this beacon of hope and goodwill … standing alone and silent as darkness takes over.
youtube
There were a number of similar stirring moments throughout the 18-hour limited series. The aggressive expansion of the RR Diner, for one. That brilliant exchange between FBI Deputy Director Gordon Cole (Lynch) and Federal Bureau of Investigation Chief of Staff Denise Bryson (David Duchovny). Pretty much every time Diane Evans (Dern) confessed something to Cole and his team. But, above all, there was this unnerving notion that the evil that was once confined to the whispering woods had now taken over, and that it was the good of Twin Peaks that had receded to the Sycamores. It was a complete 180, but one that felt totally in line with everything going on in Trump’s America.
Politics aside, there’s still no disputing that The Return was a technical and logistical marvel. The fact that Lynch and Frost were able to successfully resurrect the cult franchise is still confounding. As we learned in 2016 with Chris Carter’s fumbling of The X-Filesrevival, it doesn’t matter how many original pieces you put back together, it’s almost impossible to conjure up that magic again. But that’s the thing: Lynch and Frost weren’t interested in dusting off old potions. No, they were far more invested in the next thing, which meant pivoting the series into something both unexpected and supremely modern — and there wasn’t a single person stopping them
Every episode was written by Lynch and Frost and every episode was helmed by Lynch. There weren’t any compromises, there weren’t any hesitations, it was all unadulterated filmmaking. “It’s a runaway train, but it’s a beautiful trip,” Lynch recently told The Hollywood Reporter on the production of the series. “It’s every day. Picture it, when you get there in the morning, it’s like there’s a giant ravine. And as you’re working during the day, you’re building a glass bridge. It’s a delicate bridge and it’s made of glass. And once you’ve got everything done for that day and it feels correct, boom, the glass turns to steel and you can cross over. And then you’ve got to do it again the next day.”
Even during would-be exit interviews, Lynch can’t help himself from crafting startling visuals. But, that’s who he is, and that’s what we got all summer with The Return. It was a Kafka-esque experience in a Kafka-esque year, and the type of event that will never be replicated again, even if he and Frost decide to reunite for a fourth go-around in the Pacific Northwest. Both haven’t ruled out another strange and wonderful trip, and seeing how we waited over 25 years for this one, neither will the fans. But, in the meantime, there’s still plenty to be mined from The Return, and one can expect more theories, takeaways, and impressions in the years to come. That’s the real gift.
Now, if only we could all fit in the MoMa.
