Happy 30th anniversary to ER! You ruined me for other medical dramas, baby!
And happy anniversary to the existence of the character who deserved better every single episode. ;) This is for my "Happiness" Square on my Taylor Swift Bingo. Because the show was determined to never give him any.

Spending my Valentine's Day simping over two fictional women is completely healthy, I promise. It's not like I'm obsessing over the level of devotion that comes with sacrificing yourself so someone else can live your life. I'm definitely not thinking about the kind love that is so life changing that you'd do anything, even risk the world and overcome your crushing sense of duty, just to spend another day by that person's side. Nope, just normal levels of simping going on here.

I did promise that I will be an annoyance so here I come:
Stone Monsters Headcanons
In general, the magic system in Knighton is a soft one (I say after I watch one too many world-building tik toks). What that means is that it doesn't have hard outlines as to how it works.
Let's change that, hmm?
Monstrox is a necromancer, Wanda has weather powers and Merlock is a technomancer. (I haven't read anything other than the wiki. Just watched the show, got obsessed and here I am..) Merlock's nexo magic is iconic - very useful and always appears when you need it to. Almost as if it's a plot device. Its ability to enchant weapons and armor is extremely helpful when faced with Monstrox's... everything.
Now, Monstrox is interesting. As a necromancer we would assume what he does is bad and evil as they love to repeat in the show. And he is - insane and ambitious to boot. While I have no idea what made the Wizards' Council / Merlock spare him, his knowledge and power were locked into the Book of Monsters. That knowledge was what allowed him to - from what I can comprehend - summon, create, manifest the monsters. They weren't strong monsters, after all, Monstrox was stuck in leather, between pages. He had limited power - that's what evoked the whole let's search for all the evil books scattered around the realm.
And even their collection failed to resurrect him, seeing as everything blew up in the end. But the ritual still worked partially - it was a ritual to grant him a new form; magic, energy can't just go away, disappear! - so it gave him a form that was more well-suited for his magic. Hence the cloud.
And that's when we arrive at what I call my favorite brain rot. Monstrox's resurrection spell. The one that breathes life into stone. I do think Monstrox's spell is a combination of a few different necromantic spells, but that's for later. The stone monsters are sworn to his allegiance in a way I doubt the lava monsters were. Some of them exhibit some intelligence but none have discernable personalities other than a select few. Why?
Seeing as that spell, erased Clay's entire moral system while keeping his tenacity and determination, his desire to serve a cause, I doubt it's just personality erasure. But a spell can't just turn someone evil.
That's stupid! Evil is such a subjective thing and it's so nuanced that a simple wave of a hand or I guess zap with lightning doesn't just- just- evilize someone! So I made a chart!
There are three types of monsters in my book. (I'm not talking about how they look or their functions. I'm not talking about bouldrons, gargoyles, harpies, etc. I'm classifying them into categories!)
Type 1: The statues, given life. The bouldrons, the gravellers, etc. The one that get zapped and start destroying everything in sight. The ones that we see zooming around in the background in most episodes.
Type 2: The magically imbued statues. The statues put there with a reason - like the gargoyles. Haven't you wondered why there are so many gargoyles? Only a few of them appear smart so those are the few that I put in this type. Harpies are here too. Why? Because I think they were demons or something similar summoned to do Monstrox's bidding before they got petrified by the wizards' council. (I have their whole backstory written somewhere, I will share it later.)
Basically, type 1 is just making a statue move with densely charged, magical energy that imbues them with malicious intent. Type 2 has to work with what little magic the statue has locked within itself. That takes more power out of the initial blast, which is why type 2 monsters don't have to be constantly on the move - more of the magic has to work to diverge the energy channels within the vessel.
I love magical theory, guys
Now, type 3 is my favorite so far. That's the statue that was once human. Have you looked at how one brain works - it's all chemistry. Little electrical pulses send to and from different parts of it. In type 3 monsters, 3/4 of Monstrox's magic blast / ressurection spell go towards the mind. It has to change the being's priorities, to change the person's alleigence strictly to Monstrox. The other 1/4 goes towards making their body function in the way it has before - or as close as a living rock can get.
Ruina is a great example why this clarification works, Krakenskull, too. They were separate people, warlords in their own right before they got hit by Monstrox's magic, and then suddenly they readily follow his orders? And he doesn't worry about them betraying him? Sure, one can argue with Ruina ever being a warlord on her own but Krakenskull? He had his own army and then he was okay with someone else using it? Yeah right.
*takes a deep breath* I got a bit sidetracked. ...a lot sidetracked. But basically yeah. I have a lot of feelings about the magic in Nexo Knights and I am so sharing them with you. Just you wait!

Sometimes in animated shows there isn't a tickle scene but there is a scene in which a character laughs uncontrollably for whatever reason. This is almost as good as a tickle scene.
A show that comes to mind is a Nickelodeon show called Chalkzone. Some force infects Penny and she is laughing uncontrollably and Rudy and others have to find a way to fix it.
I think I just found out what the episode was called. It was called "The Smooch" Laughing uncontrollably until they kiss (or infect) someone else.
And apparently The Baha Men are in it? How early 2000s.
Sometimes I wish you could freely look up episodes of tv shows on youtube and be able to watch it for free. I doubt I would be able to find this episode anywhere online due to music copyright issues.

oh lol.
You took two rando scenes from TWO of the gazillion Treks in rotation - the two DARKEST - to try to make a omg!super serious point.
Discovery was a more serious Trek (as was DS9 before it.) So was PIcard (as was DS9 before it).
CAMP is on SNW - where they are fucking singing and having musical episodes between the morality plays that have always been part of Star Trek.
CAMP is on Lower Decks & Prodigy, where they have goofy jokes and throw backs about Tom Paris commemorative plates and aliens that are more STrange New Worlds than anything that Neelix ever dreamed of.
The "All New Star Trek is dark and sad and miltaristic and captalist" is simply not true.
Star Trek has always had dark, captialistic "takeovers" of the socialist dream. The movies exist. DS9 exists. Archer throwing people in the fucking airlock exists. THE VOYAGER CAPTAIN TOSSING SENIENT BEINGS IN THE WARP CORE EXISTS LOLOLOL. And he did not have a cool ass beehive.
The Federation and STarfleet by existension have always had big, dark pockets of history and THE PRESENT. The whole point has always been that humanity is flawed, ad keeps fucking up and has to keep fighting for that dream.
Not that it sits back and has fabulous hair and giggles while living the dream.

there's a cherry blossom tree in DC that keeps blooming every year even though it shouldn't and the park service keeps thinking it's dead and then it keeps blooming! well they're removing a lot of trees to rehabilitate the area and they've said it's finally time for stumpy to go and they're going to mulch it and use the mulch to enrich all the other trees so it can help everything else keep going. and they're also going to plant spliced little pieces of it all over so that stumpy can live forever and this is genuinely sending me into a spiral

casual Voyager rewatch, and:
Two things:
I am not a "Jim Kirk fucked everyone with a pulse," person because i've actually watched TOS and know better, but this is still funny as hell, because I also have a sense of humor. Especially since it's said to Janeway, who the Powers That Be Would Never Let Fuck Already.
In my heart of Hearts, Kirk will always be my favorite captain (Best? I don't know, but who cares about that) and so I do adore that as of Janeway's time, he had the record for most first contacts.

I know we don't talk about Sally and don't take it seriously, but in light of the recent Rebecca/Ana discourse, I have a new "real" name suggestion for Beatrice. We know Bea's parents are ultra conservative and probably, by extension, religious. My current headcanon is that Beatrice is actually her middle name, an old name and literary indulgence, but her first name is probably more antiquated. And what would be a more fitting religious name than something referring to the Virgin Mary? And given that she's clearly named after Saint Beatrice da Silva, the founder of a religious order dedicated to the immaculate conception, I think it's a no brainer. So I'm absolutely imagining that her parents went for something antiquated but refined, like Miriam, which means... Miriam Beatrice Young as a potential name definitely has legs.

A realization
Sometimes you realize: "Huh, people are into this specific thing but in a totally different way than you are."
Weird admission but whatever: I spent quite some time just looking and scrolling through many many sfw tickle blogs run by people over 18.
Here is where I learned a few things:
1.) I had no idea the terms "lee" "ler" and "switch" existed. It's a wonder that I didn't know the terms before as I have been into tickling for as long as I can remember. I am not any of them. And that's ok. I have no desire to touch people or for people to touch me.
2.) People do a lot of pining for people to tickle them or to tickle others. That's not me either and that's perfectly fine.
3. Tickle headcannons are a thing. I would have never thought about it that way. Sometimes I have thought "Oh this character is ticklish. How fun"
4. There are some very niche tickle blogs out there. That's all I'm going to say about that.
5.) I see a lot of similar fandoms pop up in art and fan fiction. Here are the ones I remember the most.
a. Marvel - mostly spider-man which I get. A lot of material sprung out from the Across the Spider Verse movie. Good stuff.
b. My Hero Academia - I have only seen a season and a half of the show. So I don't know all the characters. I honestly think this is the fandom with the most tickle content in it that I have seen aside from Spider-Man.
c. Hazbin Hotel or Helluva Boss.
d. Five Night's at Freddy's -Seen a lot of the Moon and Sun and Eclipse characters. As far as I know I haven't seen the other characters as much.
e. The Amazing Digital Circus- The Rabbit thing seems to get it the most.
f. South Park- This surprised me.
g. Welcome Home- I had to look this one up as I had no idea what it was.
h. Sander Side's - I had no idea people were still into this.
i. Genshin Impact - up until recently I didn't know this game had a story.
j. Super Mario Bros - Another unexpected one but man the art is so good.
k. Tears of the Kingdom or Breath of the Wild
l. Lego Ninjago- I do admit that I did think about watching this.
m. Team Fortress 2
n. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles- I have only watched 2 seasons of the 2012 series but I get it. They are brothers and they love each other. Its sweet. Seen enough art to make me think I should watch Rise.
o. Avatar: The Last Airbender - Zuko seems to be the target from what I have seen. He does need fun in his life.
Man, there is some cool ass art out there.
