Some explanation under the cut:

Honami is the ultimate crybaby. Don't get me wrong, she'll beat you to death with her bare knuckles, she'll just do it while sobbing her eyes out. She's especially sensitive to topics of separation. Get a sad movie about love that was never meant to be and you have a crying Honami and a pissed l/n waiting for you by the door.

Saki is a close second, not only because the Tenmas are genetically crybabies, but also because (after spending so much time in the hospital) even the most normal things can seem overwhelming for her. She's the kind of person to cry when she remembers snakes can't hug because they have no arms. Don't even get me started on how she reacts to sad movies about dogs.

Similarly to Honami, Ichika is extremely sensitive to topics of separation, loneliness and doomed yuri. If anyone in l/n makes a divorce joke she'll come running to them 5 minutes later with her big wet eyes and whine "baeee, *hic* please go back to bed i misss uuuu"

Please join the crybaby Ena Shinonome agenda. Sure she's not the usual "ueueueue😭" crybaby but she's one nonetheless please I will literally die on this hill

Emu Otori almost got her own section because even though she's made cry fairly easily nobody ever sees her like that except wxs, and even then it happens only seldom. She's only lower than Tsukasa because she doesn't get the daily wxs-typical bug exposure Tsukasa gets.

Rui doesn't know how to cry in the same way some people don't know how to whistle. He will scrunch his face in abnormal ways but a tear will never shed.

Changed Haruka as a last moment epiphany but I think she just forgot how to cry all that much after being an idol for so long. She can if she really wants to but most of the time she'll just stare at you with her weezer blue orbs and feel bad for the rest of her life *points at her initial 3* untrained*

Nene and Shiho look absolutely delightful while crying, they just see it as a skill issue type of thing.

But if you've ever read mmj main story you know Airi is an ugly crier.

Ichika (electric guitar): sigh... Girl why are you like this. Unfathomable. I'll let it slide because it's Ichika. Rating: electic guitar/10.

Saki (violin): Saki does not give me violin vibes at all but I'm sure she'll kill it if she actually wanted to learn. 5/10

Honami (oboe): I'm deeply offended Honami isn't in the percussion section. 2/10

Shiho (trombone): the most non-brass player brass player known to world. I don't see how it fits her. 1/10

Overall rating: they don't get you like I do girls I'm so sorry

Minori (trumpet): absolutely incredible. Yes she's a trumpet girlie. I can totally see that. 10/10

Haruka (flute): yes. Oh my god yes. She is so flute-coded she can rival only Mafuyu. 10/10

Airi (viola): very mean. Let her in the violin section. That said I can already see at least three interesting story lines connected to that. Carry on. 10/10

Kohane (saxophone): the mental image is hilarious and I can totally see Kohane falling in love with the sax but she gets points taken away from her because saxophone is so not a protagonist instrument. 8/10

An (double bass): ...well someone needed to be a bass player but An is not that someone. She's not even tall enough. Free her. 3/10 because at least she looks like she's having fun.

Touya (trombone): hehe funky slide go brrr. Yeah I can see that. 8/10

P5R Random Thoughts #4: Ann and the Formation of the Phantom Thieves

Just a little note on something that struck me as interesting when I went back to rewatch some of the Phantom Thieves' awakenings - while Joker will eventually come to embody the justice the Phantom Thieves seek, he is relatively aimless at the beginning of the story, without much direction for this burning resolve and anger at injustice he has. Fittingly for a character who gains power through social bonds, the direction this justice will take is strongly influenced by the decisions of the people he meets early on - I've already talked about Ryuji as the driving force which breaks through a lot of Ren's early kind of spaced-out aimlessness, and of course, Morgana, who provides the two with a means to act. This post though is about what Ann contributes to the early conviction of the Phantom Thieves, because it's. A. Whole. Lot.

Ann's awakening is not just the formation of her own resolve, but also the foundation of what would eventually become the Phantom Thieves' entire brand of justice.

The kind of abuse that Kamoshida has inflicted on Shiho has caused her to lose hope entirely. Her future, gone. The respect of her peers, likely gone. With how much stigma still surrounds sexual assault victims, it is highly likely that she has pity from adults around her at best, their judgement at worst.

Kamoshida has stolen Shiho’s dignity. Her reputation. SA is a tool of violence that oppresses and humiliates its victims. And ordinarily, there would be nothing these kids could do to someone with that kind of social standing.

But with her awakening, Ann has declared that she will rob Kamoshida of his dignity right back.

Morgana’s been going on about being cool phantom thieves before, but this line is what firmly cements them as thieves, not heroes. While they certainly do act on behalf of those without power and attempt to seek justice for them, the primary goal established here is much more karmic. The Thieves steal desires, yes, but it’s so much more than that. By taking the desire, the whole foundation crumbles. Palaces literally collapse. And the abuser, left with nothing but their guilt and a burning need to confess it, is robbed of the thing that gave them so much power over their victims, and what they took from their victims every day - their dignity. Their societal reputation.

This direction for their justice is kickstarted by Ryuji and Morgana, but solidified with the addition of Ann to the group. Even before the awakening itself, you get the sense that this is the case.

Joker chases down Ann in the subway, the second major action he takes since his arrest and after his awakening that he makes entirely without influence from Ryuji or Morgana. He was already set to do something about Kamoshida, but hearing what Ann was going through very obviously cleared any lingering doubts about his course of action, despite the risks. As another less important but still interesting note, Ann is also the first of Joker’s future friends that he actually saw. She’s had a huge impact on him.

And it doesn’t end with her awakening either. Joker, Ryuji and Morgana leave it up to Ann to decide Kamoshida’s ultimate fate. This is a turning point. They are all willing to let her kill him if that’s what she believes needs to be done. Ann’s decision, therefore, not to finish him off is what sets the foundations for the Phantom Thieves as a group that does not kill. This in and of itself is likely a reference to og gentleman thief Lupin's refusal to cross the line into murder, so I find it pretty interesting that Ann is the one to decide this path for the group instead of Joker.

Ryuji and Morgana at first mistake this action as a kindness, but the beauty of Ann’s mercy is that it isn’t mercy at all. Death would be an easy out for someone who’s hurt so many in such horrible ways. Ann says “you will live with that guilt for the rest of your life. you don’t get to die. everyone will hear exactly what you did from your own mouth and then you will spend the rest of your life making amends for all the harm you’ve caused.”

“I just think death would be too good for him.”

Their targets are robbed in the same way they robbed their victims, leaving them inelegant and blubbering messes in front of the world. But as a side effect of leaving their targets alive, the target seeks to make amends how they can, without necessitating any forgiveness from the people they’ve hurt. This justice is a blend of retribution and rehabilitation, and it's this mix that makes the Phantom Thieves’ sense of justice so satisfying and appealing to victims.

So while the first Palace was mostly about self-liberation, it set the stage for the eventual justice they would chose to embody - victims helping victims, children helping children find courage in pushing back against adult oppression by reversing the position of power and stealing back what was taken from them - their dignity, respect and reputation.

And most importantly, they make a choice never to restrain oneself or hold back from action in the face of injustice - a core sentiment that Joker and Ann both share in their awakenings.

It's very tragic to watch but I do appreciate that Ai is shown to have PTSD and is terrified of the Org. I like when we get to see them be so human in response to something scary.

I also like how Shinichi's voice was soft when he asked her what was wrong as to not overstimulate her anymore than he already has with touching her suddenly.

I adore their relationship. He immediately goes on the defensive for her, especially because he had just been reassuring her that she's fine only for it to be disproven immediately.

He just wants her to be safe.

Mitsuhiko, it's because he's already one of the girls, he doesn't know that it comes across another way. Don't worry though, he's not at all interested in them. He's too busy being fascinated by a phantom thief to like girls.

AWWWW T-T Shinichi is prying for information on Akemi so Shiho can learn how her sister was seen by others and what she was like when she was a child. HE'S SO KIND.

So Akemi was a good painter and she was intelligent too! It's nice to learn about her.

If the Project Sekai Units attended Hope’s Peak, what would their ultimate talents be?

I guess now is the time to say that even though I had a Project Sekai Danganronpa AU, and outlined the entire thing and wrote the entirety of Chapter 1 a year or so ago, I'm probably never going to finish it. So here's the "reveal" of the talents I gave everyone!

With explanations. So this is long.

Ichika - Ultimate Florist. Even though everyone in the cast is connected to music, I wanted to have as few music-related Ultimates as possible in order to cut down on repetitive talents. Since Ichika loves flowers and the language of flowers, this talent made the most sense.

Saki - Ultimate Pianist. For Saki, I had to choose something that she could viably do from the hospital. I figured she could record and upload videos of her playing a portable keyboard when she was feeling well enough to, with the help of Tsukasa (and Toya), keeping her "relevant" in Hope's Peak's eyes.

Honami - Ultimate Astronomer. This one is pretty self-explanatory. I didn't really want to tie her down to being a housekeeper in this AU, or a baker since I feel like that's usually what people's go-to is with her. So why not give her a STEM talent?

Shiho - Ultimate Calligrapher. Canonically, she's great at calligraphy (or at least likes it), and though in this I feel like she'd rather be recognized for her bass, calligraphy trumps that in the eyes of HPA. So, "officially" she counts bass as a hobby rather than a talent.

Minori - Ultimate Lucky Student. She was my protagonist, so I wanted to play into that aspect as well as kind of look at the kind of luck she has in canon. She's also the only one in MMJ who wasn't given a talent based in the entertainment industry, which I did on purpose. And she's also the only one of them who doesn't necessarily hate her talent...

Haruka - Ultimate Idol. Also pretty self-explanatory, since ASRUN was hugely popular in canon and here. In this AU, she either hadn't quit yet or HPA told her she couldn't if she wanted to attend. Something like that.

Airi - Ultimate Tarento/Variety Show Host. Because Happy Everyday took off, she was forced into this talent and title. She hates not being recognized as the idol she once was, but pretends to like her talent to keep up appearances.

Shizuku - Ultimate Model. Also dislikes her talent, since it took her away from her idol group and made her groupmates hate her. It's almost easier for her to pretend to like it, since she needs to appear perfect anyway.

Kohane - Ultimate Herpetologist. Tell me she wouldn't be the snake queen! I also wanted more STEM-related talents, and she gets the opportunity to talk about Count Pearl a lot this way.

An - Ultimate Waitress. Again, I didn't want many music-related talents if I could help it. So even though her dream is still to be one of the best singers, right now she's known as the Ultimate Waitress thanks to her work in Weekend Garage.

Akito - Ultimate Stylist. In my notes I wrote "Music was once a passion of his, but he never found a good enough partner." This talent is mostly based off of his canon job, and also potential little jokes about the many layers he wears.

Toya - Ultimate Classic Musician. Another talent hater here, this is fully because of his dad's influence. He was literally brought up specifically for his talent. In this AU, though, he's even closer to Tsukasa and Saki than he already was, so at least there's that.

Tsukasa - Ultimate Thespian. Kind of like an Ultimate Actor talent, but specifically for stage plays rather than all-around acting. He's still very theatric, of course.

Emu - Ultimate Acrobat. Based mostly in her canon skills, I thought this would also be pretty fitting for her personality. She loves her talent, but wishes she could do more for Phoenix Wonderland than she does just as a performer.

Nene - Ultimate Gamer. Since she never regained her confidence in singing, she instead rose in the ranks of competitive games and streaming. She and Rui are still close in this AU.

Rui - Ultimate Engineer. Fitting for his skills in robotics and yet another STEM-related talent, I figured this kind of talent could be helpful both for investigations and figuring out the eventual mystery of the game.

Kanade - Ultimate Composer. I think I changed her close to least of everyone else, with her backstory staying more or less exactly the same save for her compositions being even more recognized than in canon even without the help of the rest of Nightcord.

Mafuyu - Ultimate ??? I wanted her talent to be kept under wraps for the majority of the story, but at some point I also kind of lost the plot when it came to planning for it. Did I go for the Ultimate Doctor that she wasn't satisfied with? Ultimate Archer that she didn't care about? Ultimate Lyricist that she did? Who knows. Not me.

Ena - Ultimate Influencer. I think it would really strike her nerves to be recognized for that instead of her art, which I think would make for an interesting character arc for her. Her art account hardly has a fraction of the followers of her main.

Mizuki - Ultimate Designer. Since they canonically sew, I figured this would be a perfect non-music-or-editing fit for them. Plus, it would give them an excuse to talk to/tease Akito, which I thought would be hilarious.

This all is really making me want to go back to what I'd written and write more, but I really don't think that'll ever happen. I can't write these characters mean enough to kill each other!

Shizurui's feelings for each other headcanons (can't believe i've not done this yet, i should have my badge revoked, honestly-)

- as i'm pretty sure all us like... five Shizurui-ers agree, Rui definitely fell first

- minor celebrity crush ever since he was introduced to MMJ! that he didn't think would mean anything. but then after he properly spent time with her on the school trip?

- kaboom, cue falling head over heels queerplatonically <3

- disaster. absolute disaster, he is. he's so obvious about it despite his best efforts not to be

- during W x S rehearsal, Emu'll be chatting about her school day and who she talked to- everyone else catches on to how Rui seems more interested in her rambles immediately after Shizuku's name's mentioned

- even Leo/need finds out about it through Tsukasa and Emu and are gossiping about it. a bit of Shiho has withered away and died at the thought of her sister getting close with Tsukasa's somehow even more chaotic friend /silly

- Shizuku doesn't realise SHE likes him more than an acquaintance, let alone being aware of the other way round

- she subconsciously tries finding excuses to spend time with him <3

- "oh dear :(( i broke the microwave again :(( i suppose i'll have to call Kamishiro-san :(( and he'll spend time telling me how to fix it :(( such a shame... :)"

- it helps that all her friends now direct her to Rui when she has tech issues since they're aware the two know of each other's existences now!! they all reckon it's a miracle they met, since he's the rare one who won't ever get tired of explaining anything related to tech again and again <3 (especially since it's her)

- she definitely takes advantage of that without meaning to. whattt, just wanting to talk to him? as far as she knows, she's just mysteriously become more aware of how often she struggles with computers and appliances!!

- Tsukasa unintentional, oblivious wingman?? TSUKASA UNINTENTIONAL, OBLIVIOUS WINGMAN!!

- "ahaha, Shizuku!! absolutely wonderful show last weekend, we all went to see it and agreed it was marvellous!! especially Rui, actually, i recall him murmuring that you looked "ethereal," haha!! i'm sure he was quite impressed by the stage lighting then!!"

- rest in peace, Rui Kamishiro, he died too young

- 'tis all well though, since Shizuku, OF COURSE, believes he was just on about lights. (and was totally NOT disappointed when she heard Tsukasa's conclusion, nope, not at all, that would be so silly, to expect Rui was complimenting HER and not just the technical aspect of the show, wouldn't it? these idiots /most affectionate)

- Nene makes fun of Rui endless

- once she (almost immediately) pieced it together, she started doing shit like playing a Shizuku focused song to grab his attention when he's absorbed in tinkering and completely tuning everything else out. and then she loses her mind when it WORKS

- "oh, so THAT makes you finally look up?"

- Emu, the most emotionally intelligent character in the game, in my (correct) opinion, also just knows instantly and definitely thinks they're adorable and is VERY straightforward about it

- "Rui-kun, Rui-kun, i have the most WONDERHOY idea, wahahahaha!! you and Hinomori-senpai should TOTALLY go on a DATE over there, at the Ferris Wheel!! :D "

- "ehhhh?? are you okay?? you look like your heart went crash-bam-boom!!"

- "... Emu-kun, we are very lucky i had paused eating just now because i do not believe you are quite vertically gifted enough to perform the Heimlich maneuver on me."

- it actually gives Rui so much stress that Emu goes to the same school as Shizuku, cause you just know she might let something slip without even meaning to. not like Shizuku would catch on in the vast majority of cases though

- you could have all their friends waving a massive sign at her reading "RUI KAMISHIRO LIKES YOU" in gigantic, lit up letters and she'd be like "aww~ that's so very sweet, i didn't know Kamishiro-san was such a passionate fan of idols!! hehe, i'll remember to thank him for supporting our group so much...!!"

in conclusion: one of them is as oblivious as one can possibly get while the other gets to be nothing of the sort, thanks to his friends constantly reminding him of his feelings at every chance!!

You watched Obito leave your office and with him he took all sense of comfort. You knew he was busy today so you’d be on your own with Shiho. The shame you felt, seeing your budding career fall to the ground and get stomped on was all consuming. You had a hard time motivating yourself to work on your project. Usually you were just driven. You didn’t have to think about working hard; it was second nature. 

Today was a different story. You thought about quitting. Rejoining the field but you need to finish this project first. The village and the Anbu were counting on the intelligence your team was providing. 

It was a little harder than usual to collect everyone’s assignments.  Some of the intelligence officers opted to not complete their parts of the project, trying to leave you to finish their work. 

“Surely the Hokage won’t mind if you let this one slip.”

You quickly retort that “It’s not about what the Hokage wants from us, it’s about what the village and our fellow shinobi need from us.” 

Some of them felt bad and took back their incomplete tasks, others just laughed in your face knowing you’d be up all night doing their work for them. You scowl at them and storm away.

I’ll be sure Obito pays these three a visit.

It still hurt though. Last week every member of your team would have done a backflip had you commanded them to. Now you were lucky to exit the room without someone making more moaning sounds.

As much as you wanted to hide out in your office again today, Obito wasn’t around to bring you lunch. He had given up enough of his time helping you. You would have to go to the lunch room and get it yourself. You asked Shiho to come with, but she had a meeting to go to. 

“Sorry, Y/N. Want to wait till I come back?”

“I can’t, I have a meeting of my own when you’re done.”

You had to suck it up. It’s not like you could hide forever. Maybe it will go better than it did on Monday. They got all their jokes out and Obito left a trail of bruises behind to discourage them from making more...hopefully. 

Shiho gives you a worried look before you leave the office. Upon entering the lunchroom you take a deep breath and without making eye contact with anyone, you step in the long line to wait to order your food.

You stand there looking at the ground. Determined not to lift your face and open yourself up to conversation when a man strides up to you and begins to play with your hair. 

“Ahh the Hokage’s golden girl graces us with her presence. Where’s your guard dog? Hmm? Did you give him the day off?” 

You glare at him while wishing your ninjutsu was invisibility. Some of the nearby conversations cease to eavesdrop on you and your uninvited comrade. From across the room Kakashi stopped his own conversation, looking around to see why the room’s volume dialed back. When he saw you standing with Aoto, he looked over intensely.

“It makes me wonder, what could be so remarkable about that pussy of yours that you can keep the entirety of Team Minato under your thumb?” 

You feel the heat rise in your face. You were both furious and extraordinarily embarrassed. You wanted to knock his teeth out of that smug mouth and after, turn into a puddle and wash down the floor drain beneath your feet.  

“Mind if I take a turn and find out?” he says, reaching for your cheek.

Kakashi moved so fast you blinked and suddenly he was behind Aoto. 

“Touch her again. I dare you.” he hisses, tightly gripping the wrist of the hand that was about to brush your cheek.

“My-my, if it isn’t our fearless leader here to claim his prize.” 

Kakashi twists Aoto’s wrist behind his back, causing his face to crinkle in pain. 

“Kashi, people are staring!” You whisper urgently.

“Yeah, listen to her Kashi” he says, mocking your pet name for him through gritted teeth.

Feeling guilty for further embarrassing you he lets go. 

“See you later” Aoto whispers to you with a wink, strutting away with his friends.

Kakashi inspects your face, “Angel are you okay?” 

“Kashi, he only touched my hair.” you say as he feels your cheeks and neck which are flush with embarrassment. 

You were painfully aware of how many eyes were on the two of you. Kakashi didn’t care. To him the room was empty. He hugged you right there in the middle of the cafeteria for everyone to see. You buried your face in his chest not wanting to see a single eye as they gawked at your relationship. He kissed the top of your head before letting go. Instead of returning to the conversation he abandoned, he slid his hand around your waist and finished waiting in line for your food with you. 

Upon receiving your meal Kakashi turns to escort you to your office when a former classmate of yours, and fellow intelligence officer, came running up to him.

“Lord Sixth!”

“Yes, Jozie, What is it?” he says, keeping a firm grip around your waist.

“I hear you’re looking for new candidates to fill the position for Head of the Intelligence Department.” she says with a snide look in your direction. 

You look at the ground, no longer feeling hungry. Kakashi’s face became stern.

“I hope you didn’t come to tell me you wanted to throw your hat in the ring.”

You were shocked at his reply. Kakashi was always so polite, even when addressing enemy shinobi. Your mouth fell open along with Jozie’s as both of you stared up at him.

“Our most recent candidate knew 27 languages, completed 16 S rank projects, 117 A rank projects and has been requested by name to assist on intel matters in both the Hidden Sand and Hidden Cloud. Last I read your file, you knew 6 languages and exclusively worked on B and C rank intel projects. It would be a severe step down if we were to take your application seriously.” 

His response had you gobsmacked. You never knew Kakashi to be so cruel with his words. You’d be lying if you said your nipples didn’t stiffen hearing him come to your defense. He was so cool and collected while viciously tearing into Jozie for her disrespect. 

Steering you by your waist, Kakashi walked you out of the lunch room and down the hallways to your office. Your body obediently following his lead as your mind reeled from what you just witnessed.

“I’m done keeping my distance Y/N. I’m not going to sit by and watch them disrespect you. I know it’s the last thing you want and I’m sorry but I can’t do it anymore.”

 Kakashi wasn’t sure where your relationship stood but it was irrelevant. He loved you and you could hear the sadness in his voice as he spoke. 

“I made this mess and I’m going to fix it. I don’t know how, but I will.”

When you reached your office he stopped at the door. You walked in and put down your food. He began to walk away when he heard you whisper, “Kashi?”

He turned around to see you in your office doorway. You looked sheepish, not sure how you felt about your relationship but certain you didn’t want him to leave. 

He rushed over to you and hugged you like his life depended on it. 

You could feel him pour all of his regret into the embrace. You could feel how he loved you. If you weren’t cried out from the past few days, you were sure you’d have wept a few tears but the most you could do was softly hug him back.

“Thank you for the soup.” you say in the most musical whisper Kakashi ever heard. “...and the flowers.”

He hugged you even harder. Willing himself to speak, to apologize, but he lost his voice. He didn’t know how to say to you how much he regretted what he did. He didn’t know what words to say or how to form them with his mouth. All he could do is keep hugging you till you let go.

You separate and look up into his eyes. It killed him to see how broken you were and similarly it hurt you to be reminded of how much he loves you. His face said everything his mouth didn’t. You wanted to forgive him. You wanted to make it work but the most you could do was give him a small hug and a squeeze of his hand before heading back into your office.

Sitting at your desk, you could barely put two thoughts together before your mind wandered back to Kakashi and the way he came to your aid in the lunchroom. You found yourself drooling at the memory of how he told off Jozie and how swiftly he appeared behind Aoto. The thoughts were distracting. Generating an ache between your thighs. You quickly realized you weren’t going to get any work done in this state. You had a big project to focus on. There was no time for these mental roadblocks. 

Screw it. It’s not like I didn’t already lose the promotion. 

You slam your fists down on your desk and head for Kakashi’s office. You had an itch he needed to scratch. Similar to an earworm you need to get out of your head by listening to the entire song. 

Standing in front of his office door you begin to breathe heavily through your nostrils bringing yourself to knock before you enter. You stride in, eyes scanning the room to make sure you were alone before locking the door behind you. Kakashi’s eyes widen, shock causing his body to go lame. You stride up to him and tear down his mask. 

“You.” You say with a disgusted look as you straddle him in his chair.

“You have some nerve. Bringing all this scrutiny down on me and then playing hero when you see everyone respond the way I warned you they would.”

Kakashi’s mouth fell agape. Deeply confused by your attitude whilst straddling him. You start to push yourself against him.

“Coming to save me from your own doing.” you snarl into his ear as you begin grinding on his thigh. 

“Holding me in public.” you nip at his ear lobe.

“Kissing the top of my head like I’m something precious to you.” you kiss his jaw.

“Telling off Jozie” You paw at his chest. Rutting against his leg viciously, needing friction.

“Disrespecting my need for space.” Your hands rake through his silver hair as you finally lunge for his mouth. It was at this moment that Kakashi’s paralysis finally wore off. 

His hands lept into action, ridding you of your shirt and bra while you tore off his uniform. 

He kissed down your neck and shoulders while unfastening your pants, stripping you naked in his office, in the middle of the work day. He laid you down on top of his desk kissing you with every ounce of passion he had. His back hunching over to meet you where you laid.

Your heart threatened to burst out of your chest. You were so mad at him but you craved him, ravenous for the way he mishandles you. Your legs needily wrap around his waist. “Taking away 5 years of my hard work just for your own fuckin greed.” you hiss at him before he bottoms out, “Ah!”

“Can you blame me?” he grunts, continuing to thrust into you at an unrelenting pace. “Looking like a damned dream in that black dress. Teasing me and everyone else with your cleavage out. Taunting me with that sexy slit. Whimpering from the vibrator. Wearing my cap! Marking up my back! I still have the scratches there to remind me of your sweet cunt!”

Kakashi approaches you, hand pushing against the small of your back, pulling you into him, thumb brushing your lip, eyes boring into you. You feel your heart skip a beat.

“Stop that.”

His brows furrowed with a questioning look.

“Reminding me how much you love me. It just makes all this hurt more.”

You turn your face away from him, pushing your hands against his chest as you pull away. You slip on your shoes and stride over to the door, unlocking the knob. 

You pause before you open the door. Tempted to say something but you couldn’t bring the words to your lips. Instead you let out a deep breath and leave his office in silence. 

You reach your office and quickly gulp down your food. You snatch up your notebook before rushing off to your meeting as Shiho returns from hers. 

With shocking clarity, you hustle through your meeting. Finding your drive and your confidence once more. You commanded the room. Anyone who tried to snicker at you found themselves caught under a deadly glare. 

“Do you have something to share?” you would snap at them.

You would have never been ballsy enough to ask that question mere hours ago. With only two days left till your project was due, you finally felt back on track. 

However in the back of your mind, you were still wondering what you were going to do after the project was over. No longer seeing room for growth in intelligence, your mind wandered back to your idea of rejoining the field. Get out of the stuffy office, away from all the scrutinizing eyes of your comrades and away from Kakashi. You decide to talk it through with your cousin Ino at the end of the day.

“I don’t know, Y/N. Are you sure? You love what you do and you’re really good at it!”

“I used to love what I do.” You say ashamed, looking at the floor. “Now I can’t even get through a briefing without someone mentioning I’ve fucked the Hokage.”

Seeing the sadness in your face, your little cousin Ino reluctantly mulled it over. She would have never thought she’d see the day where you’d quit anything. You were the most driven and stubborn person she knew. You were always finding an answer to any problem, no matter how hard it was. You were the queen of solving puzzles and riddles and nothing could ever stand in your way. Yet here you stood before her, walking away from it all. 

“Okay, fine.” 

“Yes! Thank you! And can you please talk to Choji and Shikamaru too? I’d really like to hit the ground running.”

She looks at you with a skeptical raised brow.

“Please?”

“Fine.”

“You’re the best!” you praise with a hug.

Ino was glad to see a smile on your face for the first time this week.

She had noticed how melancholy you’d been since news of your relationship swept the nation. She heard from Shikamaru and Temari about the fight that broke out between Obito and Kakashi. It seemed like your heart had already been torn between the boys and the added stress of your public humiliation and the loss of your promotion was more than you could handle. She had never seen you on the brink of tears ever, yet she saw you cry every day this week. 

She also felt bad for Kakashi-Sensei. He had been alone for so long. She was happy that he was finally in love. The world should’ve been thrilled for him. He deserved a happy ending. Why would anyone want to get in the way of that? If anything, they should’ve respected you more for being chosen by him. 

Of course there were several shinobi who felt like her. Who couldn’t stand how their comrades were treating you. They see how tired Kakashi is; it is obvious he isn’t sleeping. How on edge he’s been these past few days. He was clearly struggling with how the world had reacted to their knowledge of your relationship. It wasn’t fair to him. Not after everything this cruel life has thrown in his path.

Not to mention how many girls Ino had overheard talking shit about you. Saying you weren’t even that pretty. How you were obviously a slut. How you were clearly using Kakashi to advance your career cause ‘all you cared about was work.’ Those jealous hags couldn’t even speak two languages yet you knew 27. 

Ino and some of the others kept finding themselves in fist fights defending you. She wondered if you knew what your friends were going through to defend you. She wondered if that was part of why you wanted to leave. 

She would be right.

“I finish my project on Friday. Can we begin Friday night?”

“Actually I’m in the flower shop Friday night. How about we get together on Saturday?”

“Saturday sounds perfect.”

You walk away back towards your office. If you were going to rejoin the field you were going to do it right. Just like the rest of your work, you had to be superb. It’s not that you were unskilled, but you were sure you were unfit for battle. These days you could only perform sensory ninjutsu in a quiet space. You’d be useless if you needed to use your abilities under duress. You’d essentially become a domesticated house pet with the amount of time you’d spent in an office over the last couple years.

You also needed to find Obito. Thinking back to that horrifying fight between him and Kakashi, you know his taijutsu skills are incredible. But where is he? 

Feeling better than you had since Saturday, you didn’t need him to take you home but you found yourself missing his company.

“Shiho, have you seen Obito today?”

“Not since this morning.”

You felt a bit disappointed. 

I guess it’s fine. He’ll swing by eventually. Maybe I should stay late tonight anyways. Make up for yesterday’s missed hours.

And that’s exactly what you do. You stay all night. Shiho joined you, wanting to help with the project. She stayed till 8:00pm before she left to spend the night at home with her husband. You however, worked till nearly 2:00am. A couple times Kakashi passed your door, spying on you while you did what you do best. He leaned against the doorway reminiscing about the beginning of your relationship. The late night walks, the secret lunches, the first time you tore down his mask and kissed him. His chest constricted as he thought about it all. He tore himself away and headed home, feeling his waterline tear up.

Still you remained in your office. Working away. Eventually drowsiness washed over you. You went to the back of your office where you kept a sleeping pad. After rolling it out, you grabbed the blanket you kept on hand for these very occasions. You’d continue your work once you woke. For now you just needed a little shut eye. After days of agony you finally felt clarity. The only thought plaguing your mind now was where did Obito go?

Part 9 Masterlist

Since you uploaded that MMJ Miku beta design, do you know if there are other beta designs of the characters?? I'm curious since there's a little bit of concept art of project sekai.

Ah well project sekai featured in this one issue of a Japanese magazine called CG WORLD which is where I got that art from. That magazine is more focused on the costume designs though but it does have some concept art, but aside from WIP costume designs using the final character designs, all of it is blurred out unfortunately.

You can find some WxS beta designs, a Shiho beta design and some low quality MMJ beta designs out there (not entirely sure how people found these, I think they were left in a beta release and got datamined), but that’s all the unblurred stuff you can find.

And there are no VBS beta designs available. There’s some WIP costumes for Akito, Kohane, Miku and MEIKO (i posted her one ages ago), but there’s no actual concept art of them available anywhere.

I can go through what we do have though because they’re probably too low quality for me to post as an actual fact.

So these three images were in the CG WORLD magazine. You can tell who the members of Leo/need are based on the instruments (L->R: Saki, Honami, Ichika, Shiho, Miku), and MORE MORE JUMP! (L->R: Miku, Haruka, Airi, Minori, Shizuku) isn’t too different from the final designs aside from Shizuku, who’s blonde (probably because Shiho is). Niigo is harder to identify outside of Kanade and Miku. This art was also uploaded on TCRF and whoever put it there said that Mizuki is the brunette, Mafuyu is the one sitting next to Kanade and Ena is the one in the purple cardigan. It's not stated who is who in the magazine.

And here’s some actual beta assets. You’ve got WxS and Miku (there's two people in the back) here. Emu didn’t really change much aside from the eyes, but other than her...? (I edited this since it was posted don't mind the change)

We have the leader, who is literally just a palette swap of Rui's initial 2* with Tsukasa's face (excl the eye color which was given to Rui) and hairstyle. Possibly Tsukasa bc leader, possibly Rui bc design, possibly a scrapped character who was split in two

There's someone in the back behind leader boy and blonde girl wearing a pink-purple shirt and white jacket with a yellow tie. Clearly their color palette was used on Rui later down the line. Other than that there's nothing we can tell about this character, not even their gender. Possibly Rui, possibly Miku, possibly a third character who was scrapped/reworked

We have blonde girl, who's hair color and eyes seem to have been reused for final Tsukasa. Usually this is assumed to be Nene due to not resembling any finalised designs for the most part. I think she was probably scrapped, or heavily reworked and became Nene with some design elements passed onto Tsukasa (or Tsukasa was a girl?)

And in the back behind Emu is a girl in a green blazer and grey skirt that looks like a school uniform. Maybe this is Miku because the costume doesn't really match with the others? She doesn't have pigtails though, but no one here has pigtails. There's literally nothing identifiable about her.

Whoever these people are there were clearly a lot of changes made to WxS and these might not even be Nene/Rui/Tsukasa. That's definitely Emu though.

And here's a gacha bg and live bg demo for MMJ. The screen on the first image seems to be displaying a less-blurred version of their concept art. For the record, the illustrations in the second screenshot are from idolm@ster, they are not MMJ concept designs, but part of Shizuku can be seen to the right of the pink haired girl.

Possibly might've been named RE:START given the neon lights in the second image. Has some backing: their first event was called RE:START from Here!, and NaytalieN said in an interview that there was extremely little development on MMJ outside of character illustrations when he was commissioned for that event (and a couple statements imply the game was still in fairly early development too). Or it might've just been a catchphrase for the group or something.

And this. High quality beta-Shiho. This was used as a placeholder card art (surprisingly finished for a placeholder) for MMJ!Miku’s initial card, which by the way, looks exactly the same as the final version only it hasn't been finished yet. I’m pretty sure this is Shiho and not Shizuku because of the side ponytail and image color. But Miku is wearing a similar costume to the one in the MMJ concept art. I mean it was marked as placeholder and was not intended for use, it doesn’t really have to make sense. Also what seems to be a costume for Miku based on this card was left in the game and is on TCRF I added the screenshot below.

I haven't finished translating the CG WORLD article yet, but there's not a huge amount dedicated to character design, as I said earlier it's mainly about costumes. What I can tell you though is that VBS and WxS apparently took longest to finalise, specifically Akito and Tsukasa.

"[Name]-chan~!" a certain lavender haired girl called out.

Hearing her constant yelling outside your house, you grumbled in your sleep, positioning on your sides to get a better sleep.

"[Name]-chan!"

"What?!" You bolted upright, brows knitted together in annoyance as your hands formed into a fist, clenching on your blanket. Your half-lidded eyes stared at your oak wood floor.

"E-eh..."

You turned to your side and saw the gang standing outside your room, your door opened. A grinning Shinoa, a poker-faced Mitsuba, a sweat dropping Yoichi, a blank-faced Mika, and a nervous Yuu and Shiho. You glared hardly at them as purple aura emerged from your body, surrounding around you.

"What?" You calmly asked, trying to compose yourself.

"Well, we are wondering if you want to join us—"

"Nope," you bluntly said, cutting off the poor Yoichi who 'eh?!' in surprise, covering the blanket over your face as you went back to bed.

"Come on, [Name]-chan~ it will be fun~" Shinoa went to your sides and poked you.

"Stop it, it's annoying." You groaned then buried your body deeper into the mattress.

A sigh escaped Mitsuba's lips then went out the room, she motioned Shiho and Yoichi to come with her, in which they obeyed. Yuu decided to convince you to come so he went to the bed and kneeled down.

"[Name]?"

You poked your head out of the covers and looked at him. You can't stay angry at Yuu and Mika since they're your childhood friends. And of course, they're not annoying like Shinoa.

"Yes?" You asked, though you obviously know that he'll ask you to join them.

"If you're free today, will you join us? We're planning to hang out at a carnival since there is a festival going on." Yuu explained.

"And there will be fireworks too, your favorite, right?" Mika added, flashing you a smile that could melt your heart.

You hid your blush from them by covering your face with your blanket. "S-sure... just let me refresh for a while. Having you guys invade my house, especially my room, made it hard for me to think."

Yuu sweat-dropped as Mika sighed.

"Well, it was actually your mother's idea to go straight to your room to wake you up, since she said that you're a heavy sleeper when having your little siesta." Yuu laughed nervously as he stood up, rubbing a hand behind his head.

"Yeah, right." You rolled your eyes because of your mother. "Wait for me in 5 minutes. Tell mom that I'll be joining you guys."

Yuu and Mika smiled while Shinoa just grinned. She grabbed the boys out of your room and closed the door behind her.

You sighed, removing the blanket from your face, before smiling at the thought. "Fireworks, huh?"

After you fixed yourself, you exited the room and went downstairs. You can hear laughter and fighting in the living room and so you sneak up and took a peek inside. And as usual, you saw the pinkette and the raven haired boy having a staring competition with each other, sparks of rivalry in between.

"Hey, hey, hey," you smiled then leaned on the door frame, arms crossed.

Everyone looked at you as the two stopped their little contest.

"Ah, you're already awake~" your mom chimed as her eyes lit up, hands clasped together in front of her chest.

"Well, I can't probably go back to sleep without someone annoyingly continue to disturb me," you said and glared hardly at the Hiiragi, making the others know who you are referring to. Shinoa just smiled at you sweetly.

Mitsuba sighed. "Anyways, thanks for welcoming us into your home, Mrs. [Surname]."

"Oh, no! It's fine, you're my [Name]'s good friends, after all." Your mom gave them a smile.

"Okay guys, let's go," you called out to them and they nodded, standing up from their seats.

"Have fun everyone!" Your mom called on you as you and gang are standing outside of your house.

"We will!" You shouted back.

"And oh! Yuu-kun, Mika-kun, please take care of my [Name]!"

"We will!" The black-haired male replied.

"Please don't worry," Mika assured and smiled.

"Mou!" You pouted and puffed your cheeks in all cutesy, face flushed by your mother. "I can handle myself, thank you."

"Okay, then. Have fun!" Your mother chuckled.

"Yes!" With that said, you and the gang walked your way down the pavement towards the known carnival place.

Once the gang entered the park, you can only stare in awe at how much the park had changed from the last time you saw it. A lot of people are roaming around, playing at game booths, eating or just loiter. A slim hand slipped itself into yours and you instantly tensed up at the touch. Your flustered face turned and saw Mika staring back at you, a slightly pink tinted his cheeks.

"M-Mika-kun...?" You asked, unsure of his actions.

"The crowd is thick and I don't want to lose you, your mom might throw a tantrum because of it." He explained, looking back to the crowd to prove his point.

"Y-yeah... right..." you answered, a part of you want to sweat-drop of thinking of your mom having a fit.

Unbeknownst to you, Shinoa is a grinning mess for watching the cute scene and Yuu can't help but scowl at his brother.

"Okay, guys!" Shinoa's voice caught everyone's attention.

You and the others turned around to face Shinoa. And once you did, you could feel a shiver run down your spine after seeing her expression. She is already grinning from ear to ear, a mischievous glint appeared in her eyes. Whatever she is thinking, you don't want to know it.

"Since we are now at the park, I am actually thinking of going in pairs to have fun."

"Who will pick the pairs then?" The brunette asked.

"We'll decide with this!" She pulled out 7 sticks from who-knows-where. You instantly know what it is for. "Since we are 7 right now, there will two pairs and a trio. I had prepared this before we left."

"And we're gonna pick who we are paired with, right?" Yu asked, looking at Shinoa who nodded to answer his question. Somewhere deep in his heart, he wanted to be paired with you and spend the day having fun, he is also somewhat jealous because of the intimate gestures his brother is giving you earlier.

"Let's get this over with." Mitsuba sighed then got one stick.

Yoichi followed after the blonde, then Shiho, then Mika and Yuu at the same time. You and Shinoa are yet to pick. You glanced at the lavender-haired Hiiragi and gave her a nervous glare but all she return to you was a cheeky smile, shoving the two remaining sticks closer to you. You sighed then grabbed one.

"Okay! Removed the white tape from the bottom, there you will see a color. The persons with the same color will go together as pair or trio." After that, everyone did what Shinoa instructed and ripped the tape, revealing three colors—red, yellow and blue—indicating that there are three separate groups.

By now, Mika already removed his hands from yours(for which you are grateful for but soon missing his warmth) and ripped the tape revealing a blue tipped stick.

"I guess we're a pair then," you said then showed him yours.

"I couldn't ask for more." He chuckled.

"Oi! I got blue!" Yuu yelled and raised his blue tipped stick. Your heart dropped at seeing this.

"Stop your yells, idiot! We don't want any passers-by to stare at us like we're crazy!" Shiho smacked the ravenette's head in annoyance, a tick mark appeared on his forehead.

"Ouch! What the hell is that for?!" Yuu rubbed his head then come to touched the redhead's forehead. After a while, the staring contest started.

"H-Hyakuya-kun, Kimizuki-kun, please calm down." Yoichi tried to make them stop as he sweat-dropped.

"I can't believe that I'm paired with this girl..." Mitsuba's eyebrows twitched in annoyance as she stared at the yellow tipped stick. The said lavender haired Hiiragi just smiled sweetly at her.

"W-well... Yuu-kun," you rubbed your temple and called out to him, hoping that somehow, he and Kimizuki would stop for once.

"Hm....? What is it, [Name]?" He asked and turned his full attention towards you.

"Mika-kun and I got blue as well." You said then showed him your stick.

Yuu's green eyes blinked a few times before pink dusted his cheeks. He then comes to you and pulled you into a hug, a gesture which surprises you.

"I'm glad to be your pair, [Name]!" He gushed. You just stood there shocked. He then pulled away and stared into your [e/c] orbs, hands on your shoulders. "I promise to make your day the best!"

The blonde male just glared at his brother for a good minute before breaking their moment. "Ehem!"

Yuu instantly removed his hands from your shoulders and both of you looked at Mika.

"Let's go." Was all he said before interlocked his hands with yours and began to walk.

"H-hey! Wait for me!" Yuu called out and caught up. Mika just looked back at Yuu and glared in which the ravenette didn't hesitate to return.

By now, you and the others are already separated and had your time with both Hyakuya brothers. You can't help but notice that they are trying to get close to you every now and then. They would also scowl and glare at each other when you're not watching. At first, you and the boys went around to admire all merchandise. But then they started to buy you anything that you want. Then they played games to win prizes for you. Of course, you accepted the gifts but somewhere deep in your heart, you wanted them to stop giving you all of these, it made you feel a bit guilty about it.

After the game, the three of you rested first on a bench with the foods that you guys recently bought. Yuu tried to feed you takoyaki, in which you humbly decline but insisted anyway. Mika would let you drink his beverage whenever you are in need of liquid, and of course, you being oblivious that he already drank it also.

Yuu notices this then started glaring hard at the male who returned the favor with a smirk. And so, Yuu had his ways. After eating, your trio went around once again to admire the scenery and everything. During that time, he had excused himself from buying something. Mika was delighted by that then entwined his fingers with yours. You didn't question him this because you know that he thought you might get lost, the crowd is getting thicker after all.

After Yuu came back, he held an unwrapped lollipop and handed it to you. Your eyes brightened up at the sight of your favorite [f/f] lollipop and didn't hesitate to shove it in your mouth. Unknown to you and to Mika, the ravenette boy already licked the lolly before giving it to you. Now he already had an indirect kiss with you as well.

"Wah~ I'm tired!" You yawned as your trio walked towards a grassy field.

"You're right, it's getting late now," Mika stated, still holding your right hand.

"Let's rest over there. The fireworks are gonna start in a few minutes," Yuu informed, pointing a finger to an open grassy field. His other hand entwined with your left(yes, by now, Yuu started to hold your hand as well).

"Sure." You nodded and walked towards the place. The boys following beside you.

After you and the boys settled down on the grass(with you in the middle, of course), you turned to them and smiled.

"Thank you guys for this day."

"It's no problem." Answered Mika as he focused his gaze on the skies, awaiting the fireworks with his cheeks painted red. Luckily for him, the skies were dark and so you didn't see his blush.

"You're always welcome, [Name]." Answered Yuu as he averted his gaze to the side to hide his blush from you.

"Actually..." you turned around to see Mika staring at you. His handsome features up close made your face heat up.

"We've been thinking..." this time, you looked to Yuu and saw his face inches away from yours. You could already feel your heart's gonna explode any moment now.

"That we............" and as on cue, the fireworks exploded in the sky, making Yuu's statement falter by the loud booms and earning your attention as you instantly switched your focus on the colorful sky.

And once you did, the two didn't hesitate to use the opportunity and kissed both of your cheeks at the same time. Your heart skipped a beat, yours eyes wide and face flushed. The two pulled away then gave you a sweet smile while interlocking their fingers with yours.

"We love you, [Name]."

Assigning PJSK characters an alternative subculture!

One of my biggest interests are alternative subcultures so it's time to assign some to the PJSK ocs! Feel free to reply with your own thoughts and headcanons.

Firstly, let's get the characters who are already implied to be in certain subcultures out of the way. Notably Saki and Mizuki. As we're all aware of, Saki is implied to be a gyaru and Mizuki is definitely in the lolita/ouji subculture.

Saki would a Kogal/Kogyaru since her outfits reflects the kogal style like the cards above! I also like to think that if ColoPale weren't cowards, her everyday outfits and makeup would feature the Ganguro style. Though Mizuki has many cards that depict them in different kinds of lolita/ouji fashion (such as gothic ouji and sweet lolita) I personally don't think they have a fixed aesthetic and simply just sew/buy whatever looks cute. (And trained cards don't exactly reflect what the PJSK ocs would wear in the canonical universe.)

Now that we've done a quick run down on the already alternative PJSK ocs, it's time to assign subcultures!

To summarize, I believe that:

L/N: Ichika - Grunge, Saki - Ganguro, Honami - Mori Kei, Shiho - Heavy metal

MMJ: Airi - Himegyaru, Shizuku - Mori Kei (For Minori and Haruka, I'm genuinely unsure...)

VBS: Hip-hop

WXS: Tsukasa - Goth (surprise!), Emu - Decora, Nene - Cybergoth/Cyberpunk, Rui - Scene (duh)

N25: Kanade is the type of musician to know what every alternative subculture's music sounds like purely for composing purposes, Mafuyu: Hardcore Punk, Ena: Jirai Kei who indulges in Riot GRRRL music, Mizuki: Unfixed Lolita/Ouji

Further elaboration under the cut because some of these are far-fetched. (Goth Tsukasa is real, I promise)

About Ichika: I know that Punk is often looked down upon by guitarists because it's sloppy and often doesn't involve proper music theory and Grunge is influenced by Hardcore Punk so why would Ichika be that. My answer is: Kurt Cobain flannel.

About Tsukasa: Tsukasa is a jazz/classical music type of guy. However, please consider Tsukasa admiring Post-punk vocals (specifically Siouxsie's) and how goth music's lyrics are beautiful and poetic. Imagine him writing show scripts to ethereal wave music. Tsukasa probably wrote the Romeo and Juliet script while listening to deathrock. He is a romantic/ethereal goth and you cannot convince me otherwise.

About Rui: JUST! LOOK AT HIM! That man is a scene guy.

About Mafuyu: She needs to let her inner rage out so I assigned her hardcore punk for that reason. Just imagine her aggressively strumming one of Kanade's guitars.
