I feel like, in the older days of Linked Universe, THoT was a lot more---stoic? just across the board in fic. He was the no-nonsense leader that was often a bit abrasive when it came to how he interacted with the others (as one might claim he is in canon). One thing I've noticed (broad generalization incoming) with Time is that there is a split, now, in how he is characterized. Often, when he is a background character, he remains that stoic leader. However, when he's more of a main focus in a fic (and often Warrior is involved), writers make him a lot more immature, for multiple reasons including that he was raised in a community of children, his internal age is off due to timeline crap, he's just only like 25 and the Chain are a bunch of teenagers that look up to him because he's an "adult", etc. Now, I LOVE both (in fact, I would suggest @breannasfluff Wing Bois AU for the characterization of Time being a main character and yet more of that stoic leader, nevertheless one that still has a carefree side and can still mess up, and I would suggest @wanderlustmagician 's Everything But Blood (Modern AU) of Time being more of an uncertain leader (dad XD) off the top of my head if anyone is looking for fic recs).

That being said, I just love writing stoic Time, especially when he's in the spotlight as opposed to the background. Because a lot of writers are right, he does have all of these influences that, despite the Horrors he's gone through, would make him more childlike---so what has happened to his psyche, that those factors have been so negated, and he's the serious leader that he is today?

I want to try something!

I'm sure I'm not the only creative on this site who gets, on average, at least one new idea per day, but there will simply never be enough time or resources to actually bring them all to life. In my case that would mean writing full fics out of every idea. Never gonna happen. And a lot of (dare I say majority) of writers struggle with the fight of either having a bazillion wips and never finishing them, or forcefully restraining themselves to one or two wips at a time and thus not letting their creativity fly where they want it to.

I've tried both. I think I've found a solid middle ground to work with, but I still sometimes feel bad not writing all the good ideas I have or anguish over not finishing a wip.

I want to fight that feeling. I don't want to feel guilty or whatever about either option! That's why I'm gonna try to start documenting my ideas, so I can look back on them later, so I can give them the time of day and then let them go, so I can celebrate creativity instead of suffocating it or letting it suffocate me.

My unpopular opinions and rants

● public interviews on YouTube are lame as fuck, they go around asking dumb ass questions that will trigger people and they'll go around adding those stupid edits that make no sense and then people will always answer the dumb questions with a stupid answer. It got repetitive, old and corny real fast.

● ASAP rocky is only relevant because he's with rihanna. She's keeping his name alive. He's only relevant because he benefits from pretty privilege, and rihanna still with him, and they have kids.

● Hannah baker from 13 reasons why is a trash character, and I never liked her. She's a liar, a fraud. She was a bully in her old school, she was out here thotting and bopping fucking with 5 or 6 dudes the whole love triangle playing victim. Hannah Baker was just merely a narcissist who didn't want to take any conuntability for her own actions.

● the reason why your kids don't know their purpose. or what they want to be, or don't wanna talk to you because you treat them like an investment. I don't have kids and don't plan to, but some parents out there need to stop treating their kids like an investment. Please stop hoping your kids go to college so you can brag about them, Please stop hoping your kids get an amazing job that you wanted them to get so you can brag about them because if you treat them like an investment, they're going to grow up in the real world not knowing who they are or what they want to with their lives and end up being depressed because they spent their whole entire life trying to please you.

● Being a perfectionist is not a good thing. Stop saying like it is a good thing. It's merely just self sabotage disguise as a perfectionist. You believe in yourself because you're scared that you put your work out there. A lot of people are going to trash it, dismiss it, and you don't want people to have an opportunity to give you a negative opinion.

● Kim Kardashian did more for black people than Obama ever did. Obama just did nothing but be black and did a whole bunch of shit for all the communities, but he didn't do shit for black folks.

● Normani is missing something. The only reason why normani isn't really blowing up is because she took too long to introduce herself. We still know her as the pretty black girl who can dance and sing. There's really not a lot to her I think she's pretty boring.

● don't hang around with bums that complain all the time about how their life ain't shit and how they are annoyed and depressed how they can't stand this. Don't hang around with those types of people. Because those be the same people that be jealous of you and will grow to resent you if you keep hanging around them.

● On my block, season 4 was the worst season. It was a waste of time, it was complete garbage, and I was so annoyed how they rushed through it and everybody was dating each other, fucking each other, everyone was going there separate ways, it made no sense and they killed off so many characters.

● most people have kids for selfish kids but won't admit it. Let's be honest Many people will sit up here and say,'I want kid till I'm 25 or 30' because a lot of y'all just want people to take care of you, so you don't end up being alone. Many people plan to have children by 30, 31, or 35 because they want someone to be there, they want an aesthetic of having a child, and they don't want to feel left out because all there friends of people there close to have children.

● The early 2000s Era had better music than the 90s Era. We had Ashanti, Aalyiah, Jennifer lopez, gwen Stefani, Eve, Destiny's child, Timbaland.

● J Cole is overhyped he's an amazing rapper and singer, but I just see him as a regular rapper.

● jhene aiko doesn't get enough credit for her work. Yes, she's praised for her voice and talent, but let's be honest, she isn't praised and rewarded like she really should be that she built and created for herself her songs are unique and she's very creative, she's really slept on and very underrated.

● There's a difference between being a good person and being nice. At the end of the day, just because you're nice doesn't mean you're a good person. Don't sit up here and say,' I'm a good person. At the end of the day, people never reciprocate." it like bitch stfu. Maybe you're just a people pleaser. Being a nice person is very different from being a good person because a good person is kind knows how to treat everyone with respect and a nice person will tell everyone what they want to hear to keep the peace and put on their best face to make sure everyone likes them solely because everyone likes a nice person, but not everyone respects a nice everyone.

● never ever trust somebody who counts favors. If somebody trying to bring all the nice they did for you, never trust those people. People who count favors are not good people there willing to hit you up one day to remind you of those favors to get what they want from you.

● before you go out of your way to listen to your parents about what you should do with your career, please give yourself a second look at your parents and see if there happy of there own career you don't want to take advice from a miserable bitch. If your parents aren't happy with there careers why the fuck would you lisen to them on what you should do with you life and how you can make money.

MORE THOTS!!! You don't have to write anything with this but you can if you want. I'm kinda just regurgitating stuff like a teenage girl kicking her legs while writing in her diary lol.

The Greek myth of Atalanta. Atalanta is abandoned as a baby and raised by BEARS (symbol of Artemis goddess of the hunt) until she's found by hunters who take her in and raise her as THEIR own. She becomes a famed hunter by killing a boat sent by Artemis. Naturally suitors flock to her begging for her hand and of course don't take no for an answer so she proposes that they run in a race and anyone that beats her gets her hand but if they lose she kills them. This thins out the herd a little bit there are still some left who she races and obviously annihalites beats. Despite the murder of every loser people keep coming to ask for her hand. Until one day some guy rocks up who's different. In some version of the myth he meets her on a hill while she's practicing and compliments her skill and doesn't undermine it by saying "you're pretty good for a girl" or anything stupid. Other versions he just meets her in asking for her hand and is very cute and sweet and even Atalanta feels bad about inevitably killing him.

But he he has a trick up his sleeve. He went to Aphrodite who totally shipped it and agreed to help.

See, Atalanta loves shiny things.

So, come to the race, he is almost immediately taken over before he drops a golden apple. Atalanta stops to pick it up, letting him get some headway. Atalanta immediately catches up again so he drops another apple. And again she catches up and he drops his final apple. This time he manages to cross the finish line just in time (the myth is open to interpretation about whether or not she took a little extra time to smell the roses on her way back from the third apple).

So, imagine one piece characters with a crush on someone who is a master of their field (archery, hand to hand combat, or even intellectually, etc.). They've spent their whole life being underestimated and mocked and had to claw their way to the top, and then when they finally reached the top everyone who doubted them did a 180 and started sucking up to them. And they know that it's not out of any actual appreciation of their personality, or value for their thoughts and opinions, or even admiration of their skills. They know that all they are seen as now is a trophy on someone's arm, or a weapon in someone's army, or a challenge for someone to rule over. People just want to be the one to have them, to own them, to teach them to submit so they can boast their own strength and feel good about their ability to dominate someone so strong.

So they build up walls, they ignore any compliments which are really just attempts of flattery, they grow cold. Until eventually they even lose the joy in their own craft, having been the thing they devoted so much of their life for only for it to leave them alone.

They make a deal. Anyone to beat them at their own game wins their hand in marriage, but all who lose will die.

And it scares off a few and gives them a good excuse to kill the rest, and they knew what they were getting into when they agreed to the fight so no one can really oppose them. Besides, they don't feel much guilt for those who can't take no for an answer.

Until one day they meet their one piece character.

Maybe they pass through and hear about a challenge and want to participate, only for the master to realise halfway through that they don't actually know the stakes at hand and spare them because it wouldn't be fair to kill someone who didn't know they were fighting to the death. Technically leaving the battle forfeited.

Maybe they happen to catch them about to kill one of the losers and try to stop them and it starts off as an annoyance/enemies-to-lovers misunderstanding.

Maybe if their love interest is a strawhat they're convinced to join them in search of an actual challenge so they can find joy and purpose in their fights again.

Whatever the reason, they either start travelling together or keep meeting repeatedly. And they get to know each other.

And the walls come down, brick by brick. And they don't even realise how much of themselves they've willingly given until it's harder to ignore compliments and write them off as superficial flattery when their one piece love interest compliments them on things about themselves. They've been recognised for their skill and their looks and their mind before and they've gotten so used to it that it washes off them like water off a ducks back.

But their face flushes when their love compliments the effort and time they put into honing their skill. Not just the way their skill serves them. Not just as a weapon. But as a craft.

And their hands shake when they're complimented for the way they've done their hair, or chosen their outfit - things that they've chosen about themself. Or their love reassures them that the scars they carry aren't signs of failure or even endurance, but signs of healing and growth. And they confess that every time they see them they are filled with both gratitude that they lived through them and were shaped by them so they could meet each other as they are. And with anger that they ever felt they had to suffer to prove themself.

And something lodges in their throat and stings from behind their eyes when they're complimented on their mind. Because they realise that someone is listening to and respecting their thoughts. And the fact that they know what compliments mean more to them is a testament to the time they've spent together.

They realise that although they haven't thawed their cold completely, they were never made to feel bad about it. Because on the days when they are still cold their love burns warm enough for the both of them.

And then their love challenges them. And it all comes crumbling down.

The love that they've felt building is washed away by betrayal.

Why? Why challenge them? Why now? Why not sooner, why wait so long?

Then the fear. Fear that answers their questions as quick as they come. They only ever wanted to challenge them. They never loved them. They were biding their time to know their weaknesses and practice their strategy. Or perhaps they didn't initially intend to fight them but they grew bored. They weren't enough to be worth keeping around and this was just to entertain themselves. They spent their whole life trying their best to be the best and it wasn't enough, and when they finally let it go and breath and feel they can be themselves that wasn't enough either.

And of course the deepest fear. Because they know that their love interest won't win. And even in the midst of betrayal they don't want to kill them.

But a promise is a promise. Having grown up swallowing weakness and never feeling fear before a fight - because they were never in danger of being beat - they seek to squash it down and the only thing they can grasp at is anger.

Anger that they were taken advantage of. Anger that their time was wasted. Anger that their heart was broken.

And they don't hold back.

Or they don't mean to.

But the fight lasts longer than it should. Long enough that they realise they're pulling their punches despite themself. Long enough that they realise that even their weakest of attacks would have been more effective before, based on their knowledge of their loves abilities. Long enough to know that they've been practicing. Long enough to see their love is breathing fast and sweating hard, hands trembling.

Long enough that they blink and catch themselves no longer fighting like it's a chore. Not because they're a challenge - even years of practice couldn't pose a threat to them - but because for the first time in years their opponent is taking them seriously.

And it breaks them. Cursing, crying, screaming at their love.

Because why have they challenged them if they know they couldn't win?

And then their love admits it. That they loved them and couldn't bear it any longer but they'd never ask them to yield in their fight. They'd rather die by their hand than live without it, because that is the only heaven they'd ever need anyway.

That they practiced and honed their skills, not because they ever entertained the notion of being able to beat them, but because they wanted to be a fight worth remembering. They wanted to give them back their joy in their art.

I will absolutely write this for you. This sounds spectacular. I love it.

Adding it to the list. Do you have a preference in mind for a character, because I can truly see someone like Sanji, Usopp, Buggy, Shanks or Mihawk. Angsty, flirty, piney is what I do and I can absolutely see these themes incorporated into it.

The thought of Shanks challenging in archery has me literally sobbing because he only has one arm but will still try as he might to win her hand.

Sexuality Headcanon: Pansexual, and, in theory, fine with open relationships, group sex, etc, but it's not something he's explored in my universe as of yet. I'm tempted to bring in Petra's clown ex-boyfriend for a chapter or one shot - Astarion has mocked Petra about dating a clown for years, but he meets the man and is like, "oh shit, he's really hot" and has to abandon a years-long tradition of mockery because they invite the man into their bed for a night. 😂

Gender Headcanon: Cis man

A ship I have with said character: In my universe I ship him with my Tav, Petra, but I love the idea of him with Karlach, Wyll or Gale as well. I've seen some fanart and comics featuring him with Halsin too, which is a pairing I could see working.

A BROTP I have with said character: I like the idea of he and Jaheira becoming friends. I have a headcanon that Astarion is intimidated by Jaheira - she does at one point admit to killing a vampire spawn in an especially ruthless fashion, so in my universe, he doesn't share with her where he lives, because he's honestly a little scared of her. But, they wind up having a talk at one point and find common ground and friendship.

A NOTP I have with said character: I haven't seen it much, admittedly, but I don't see him and Shadowheart together, personally. But I write them as having a bit of an antagonistic relationship. They're friends and would throw hands for one another without hesitation, but Shadowheart has a lot of opinions about Astarion's moral compass and Astarion doesn't have much patience for it.

A random headcanon: Before he was turned, the man was obsessed with coffee. Like, super expensive espresso setup in his home sort of obsessed. He can't remember this, unfortunately, but does suspect he must have liked coffee because it's one of the few foods/drinks he genuinely enjoys the smell of, and he makes coffee for Petra most afternoons after the two of them wake up. The fact that he's instinctually really good at making it (especially given that he's a disaster in the kitchen in most other respects) lends weight to this suspicion of his too.

General Opinion over said character: I love him to death. Love him. One thing I really try to balance in my writing is his morality - he's not a good person in the standard respects, but he does love deeply and protects those who are important to him. But he's bloodthirsty, snarky, and an asshole. Because I'm me, in my writing, I tend to be really comfortable writing his smartass side and he and Petra have a relationship that's really heavy on banter. It's tough for them to have a serious conversation - for a lot of reasons.
