tracking down every single reference to previous case law in a specific decision is so funny because like . You expect to be like: statement in decision that cites previous cases -> previous case cited has similar reasoning but goes more into detail because it's establishing as a logical conclusion what the newer decision takes as established, cites a couple of older cases in the process -> older cases cited all have fragments of that reasoning, each explored in more depth than in newer decisions that only mention it. And then instead it's often: statement in decision that cites previous cases -> previous case cited says the exact same thing in the exact same words, cites a different case -> case cited is the same one that the newest decision has already cited in 3 places and also doesn't really explain anything

A bit of symbolism under the cut, but I'm curious of other interpretations 👀✨

I matched The Star with Ruth based mostly on visuals and the reverse meaning (which among other things mentions feeling like everything is against you, which I thought fit her well).

Elements that represent hope, opportunities and shining bright from the original card are turned into foreshadowing of her death here.

Light - Her Moment, chance, ambitions and wants. The second she enters it, she's dead.

Background - theater seats, empty.

overall im really quite proud of this, i started this out as just a loose sketch not rlly knowing if ill even finish it bc of how complex the thing is, but i somehow did it???? yay?????????? the perspective/sizing of objects is a liiiittle wack n i kinda lost steam when doing the dead clones n it SHOWS lol but whatever, this is still the most complex piece ive dont in FOREVER, and also i am really patting myself on the back for the fucking ship. like JESUS first of all i had to rewatch the black paladins n take a fuck ton of screenshots to decide what parts of the cloning facitlity or whatever it is to include, n then i had to DRAW IT and it was SUCH A PAIN but! after i laid down the sketch n blocked in the colors it went surprisingly well?? and also this whole piece was done with almost no multiply layers for shading, i did most of it '''''by hand''''', so thats just yknow. another thing i put much more effort into than usual but i think it payed off, theres only so much u can do w multiply, sometimes you just gotta go in and draw the fucking shadows yourself!!!!

(i suppose this could thechnically be funky guys related, i can def see it fitting into that aus world, it can absolutely be interpreted as buddy right after the events of the episode, but i do kinda like to imagine it as an entirely seperate thing? like a bleaker timeline where no other clones survive the crash and kuron slowly dies from untreated wounds, malnutrition, dehydration and exposure<33333 yay!)

Idk if it's bc I'm a pushover or open to a lot of perspectives but generally when a piece is well-written and has nuanced themes I can agree to a lot of takes on it. I find it infinitely fascinating that we all approach media from a different lived experience and attach to different aspects based on that background. That's one of my favorite parts of art in general

I know how it sounds at first, but I really gotta feel bad for the boys that sacrificed edwin; I mean even the term “sacrificed edwin” paints them in a more sinister light than they really deserve– considering that wasn’t really, actually their intention.

they were bullies, they were homophobic (and/or were self loathing gay boys themselves taking it out on edwin, or were equally likely peer pressured into acting a certain way), they planned something stupid and mean to do to an innocent, anxious boy with the goal of scaring the shit out of him, all because he was effeminate and an easy target. but they didn’t know or expect any of the ritual stuff to be real. they were all laughing and joking during the ritual because it was just that to them– a joke. a cruel joke, but a joke.

teenagers can be mean and stupid and they usually regret it as adults and grow out of it / grow from it. they were stifled the chance to grow out of it, at least while alive. none of those boys deserved to be instakilled and sent to hell; they’re really not that much less deserving than edwin himself. they were all just kids, after all.

when you read your own than/ares fic and remember how much you love ares unexpectedly being soft and insecure and he's afraid of hurting than, whereas than's just been staring at ares arms all day and can't stop thinking about getting fisted and how full he'd feel and asks ares and ares is so concerned that he's going to hurt thanatos but they prepare thanatos well and he takes ares fist and ares just watching in awe that someone trusts him this much to want and have his hands that have wrought so much inside of them. so yeah just those thoughts going around in my head while I'm sick.
