What are you even supposed to do after you finish reading something that cannot be beat. I felt like that after finishing Golden Kamuy, but now I'm really fucking feeling it after just finishing Usogui. That was the most insane incredible experience I've ever had reading a manga. I kneel.

can anyone recommend cartoons or shows for a 12-year-old with a lot of time on her hands to watch with her teenage and adult siblings? she likes gravity falls, bluey, spy x family, infinity train, avatar the last airbender, monk (yes monk 2002 starring tony shalhoub), and murder drones, although IDEALLY we're sticking to PG and mild PG-13

#monthly reading lists #books #trying a new format #because most of my categories are so vague #and i have so many things on my reading list clamoring for attention within those categories #that i need to feature them all as options without committing to any particular one #most of the options are things that were impulse purchases or library picks sitting on my reading piles #if anyone wants to campaign for a particular one (or suggest something different within one of the categories) go for it #after loving 'the warden' i saved 'barchester towers' as a december book #because i wanted to save the big book for a new month #and this would fulfill my december need for a new cozy-yet-crunchy classic #'last christmas in paris' fits for the christmas vibes and also i have a desire for epistolary fiction #emma m lion came out early!#it's a priority but also i don't want to be done with it too soon #i didn't even realize the nina clare book was coming out until a couple days before release #they're not great lit but i've found that after clunky beginnings these books turn out to have surprisingly depth and complexity #(still on a regency romance scale)#i've sometimes wondered if i might like her better than heyer because the servants are people #the dynamics may not be historically accurate but seeing the loyal servants in gaskell it's accurate enough #and it's not like heyer didn't build her own flavor of regency fantasy world so i like one that includes the lower classes #and anyway after last month's poetry escapades this premise will be extra fun

June Writing Wishlist

Finish something for each of the unfinished Chesterton Challenge prompts (current plans are for two pieces of flash fiction, a bit of Arateph worldbuilding, and two scenes from Shadowstruck)

Write at least 10,000 words of a single project (or, possibly, divide it up between two shorter retellings)

#adventures in writing #this is probably absurdly ambitious #given that i'm trying to write half as many stories as i wrote all last month #you know my most ambitious writing month ever #plus write more words than i've written on any story in years #but there's a reason this is a wishlist instead of a goal list #after a month of a bunch of little pieces i'd really like to sink into one longer work #i've got two main contenders at the moment #but i do also want to write those pieces i couldn't get to at the end of may #maybe if shadowstruck comes together better than expected i could expand it so it fills both goals #since i have the short ideas in place i'm hoping those would take no more than a week #and since the longer works are things i've been building for years #it's possible the writing could go faster than it did when i was trying to brainstorm tons of different ideas all at once #just dive into writing instead of needing to do all the brainstorming #also on top of all this i've got two or three shorter summertime retellings that are demanding attention #but there's no way i could hit all three goals #which is why i have a second option for 2 #we'll see how it goes

1. He's not human so it doesn't work. If you really want him back make that the plot of book 4! You can do genderflipped Orpheus and Eurydice since SJM likes existing stories as her base...

2. He revives but loses his high lord status as the power moves to someone else while he was dead, maybe even Feyre (then the whole high lady stuff will actually mean something! Amazing!)

3. He revives but now owes a fae gratitude debt to everyone who revived him (especially Tamlin).

4. He just stays dead dead DEAD!!

5. He loses SOMETHING in the process. His wings, a limb, his ability to procreate, ANYTHING!

6. He dies and wakes up in Crescent City (ew I hate it)

7. His death experience gives him Feyre style PTSD (Optional: He now blames her for everything she didn't do and runs off to be with Tamlin by the end)

8. The ordeal drastically shortens his lifespan. You get him back, but he now age's like a human, enjoy your remaining 80 years!

9. He comes back wrong™. Amnesia, posessed, off, anything!

10. Idk but I'm not over the fact that no high lord holds it over his head. He'd be dead if it wasn't for them and he feels basically no gratitude at least give him political consequences gods
