I love how people only ever acknowledge Crowfeather hit his kid to then acknowledge that Nightcloud dragged his ass roughly once.

To give nuance to a complex subject; Nightcloud was in the wrong there, yes, her reaction was bad.

But overall, Crowfeather is the larger “evil” (not literal just, he is the problem). This is the man who lied to someone about not only his feelings but his past to basically get cat married to them and get them pregnant, only to ignore or begrudgingly interact with his family for his reputation. Abuse is wrong, but domestic violence is a complex subject and even victims can become or mirror abusive behaviors over time. I’m not saying Nightcloud is defenseless victim or some shit - in fact I enjoy she is a flawed victim, something you do not see in a lot of media (if only they didn’t vilify her sigh). What I am saying is that Nightcloud is still a victim, and so is breezepelt, just because both characters act out does not inherently negate what Crowfeather did to victimize his family. This doesn’t even negate the fact that Crowfeather himself can be hurt by their actions, but he is responsible for what has largely been his fault. Crowfeather lied, manipulated and neglected multiple cats to get where he was and oh boy - what’s that? The consequences of his actions catching up to him! Nobody deserves suffering - but, if all signs seem to point to hell why keep going down the same path? Crowfeather as a character is coddled by the writing so heavily that even those consequences are framed as the world being cruel to Crowfeather for no reason - while down the hall we have squirrelflight and leafpool who’s suffering is justified for breaking cat law, nevermind the fact they were told to by the otherworldly forces that control their fate. No, Nightcloud probably shouldn’t have dragged Crowfeather away like that, but he shouldn’t have ever entered a relationship with her for his own gain in the first place???

If anything people should talk more about how Nightcloud treated Leafpool, I love both characters, but Nightclouds actions towards her were less defendable - Leafpool never knew about Nightcloud until, well, until she saw them together and by then it was already over (even though Crowfeather had attempted right before that moment to rekindle the relationship which - w o w). It’s yet another bad trope of women who share the same ex or love interest being at odds, but the malice Nightcloud shows is in its own way real to how I observe her during that part of the series, i just wish that in some way the relationship issue would’ve been resolved better between them - or Nightcloud would acknowledge that she was in the wrong for lashing out at Leafpool and her kits when it wasn’t their faults.

Hope this isn’t rude, but I wanted to ask what inspired you to change the naming conventions/tweak them as I find it interesting when people do!

in a way you could call it a cop-out. i figured it would be best to scrap naming ceremonies altogether if i were to write a warriors fic, so i just nabbed the other naming system that was right there.

although it's not quite the same, as the kits are actually named a while after their birth, so the parents have an idea of their personalities. and i tried to choose names that would indeed match more, or would make the cats stand out more, or had some meaning.

(Whitestorm-> White Flower, named after his pelt and grandma and also the Oleander MAProject;

Cinderpelt-> Blazing Cinder, named after her pelt and personality)

the only naming ceremony the Clans have is more of a formality, to take in outsiders properly or maybe if a cat rly wants to change their name (like Mossy Patch probably did). In DotC the names are a symbol of the Clan cats being different from outsiders, after all.

plus, i think it adds to the theme of kin closeness that warriors tries to bring in, and helps remove most the injury-related names that were very prevalent in arc 1 (some are kept though).

in the end i also felt it helped bring in more interesting ideas to an AU that was initially based on a single different event.

i still think it's a wee bit funny that some of the responses to hawkleaf was that "it wouldn't be healthy" as if people pairing up the dude who thinks murder will earn his clan and father's attention and the girl who stakes part of her identity in her devotion to god are doing it because they think it'll be the epitome of a good relationship

Really excited to see someone doing this! I think I was inspired a year ago by someone else’s stuff to make something similar and I planned out a logistics system but never got started - love all of your designs!

Ok warrior cats people I need help. I've never been a huge fan but I read a few books and I need help finding the name of a book that may or may not even be from this Fandom.

So I kitten named Tiny is told by his brother and sister that they drown unadopted kittens (after the two of them had been picked and he wasn't because he was hiding) and runs away

He ends up in the city and uses a tooth to try and cut his collar off but it just gets stuck in his collar drawing the attention of other cats and he says he fought a dog and won.

They send him after another dog and he gets lucky because the dog is a coward and runs away

He becomes a crime lord basically and then his brother and sister show up after getting abandoned and he gives them food and banishes them.

Does anyone know this one?
