7. Three songs you didn’t expect to like but eventually loved

This is also partially due to the fact that I wasn't interested in Arcane for a while, but eventually I gave it a shot and man, I loved the show! Then the song itself grew on me, too 😊

This is one my husband listened to (its a fan song for Hazbin Hotel) and I thought it was creepy at first. But then the more I heard it, I thought it was kinda catchy and it grew on me even before I later watched the show

This started out as more of a joke because of one line in this song that when I first heard it I went, "Wait.......WHAT?!?! Did I hear that right??" It plays in a movie I saw called Dancin' It's On (which is one of those "it's so bad, it's funny" movies) and I didn't take the song seriously, but then when I looked it up later, I actually really liked it! It's catchy and it sounds similar to other songs I like. Ironically enough, it ended up being my #1 played song on my Spotify Wrapped for 2023 😅🤣 There are alternate lyrics for the one line that made me do a double take, but even then, the line itself is just funny. If you wanna know what it is...give it a listen and I'm sure you'll catch it 😉😉

This Two Steps From Hell song is incredibly gorgeous and I seriously think everyone should hear it!!

This one is super beautiful and has very uplifting and inspiring lyrics. Some of them are a little strange, but it's only a couple of them. I've been listening to this one for years and it helps me a lot 💜

I've posted things from Gentri before and this song is my absolute FAVORITE of theirs! Very incredible melody and orchestral sound and the lyrics are also amazing and inspiring! This one gives me a lot of hope and love for life!

22. Three songs you listen to when you’re sad

This is my #1 go to when I'm sad because it's just impossible to be sad when listening to this. It just sounds like home to me 💜 even my husband knows playing this song when I'm sad or upset will help me and he'll play it for me often 🥰

I have no concept of a consistent social life or media presence, so I just post whatever and whenever I want to, usually mid afternoon for me because that's my time to Survive™ my day to day stressors. Whatever hits my dopamine reserves just right will probably end up here!

I am a self taught artist who only really picked up on certain techniques and styles in recent years, I have quite a few inspirations for the directions my art is going in and I actually adore how my style(s) look right now! Which is good because it's a lot of work maintaining and improving all the time-

I mostly indulge in art and writing of my OCs, and the occasional fan art here and there when I'm in a particular mood, and everything (I would hope) is made with the love in my heart for my creations, from the 6+ hours of work on a digital piece to maybe a 10 min sketch of my OCs smooching from the confines of my canvasses.

We can ignore the musician part for now, at this time I haven't really delved too deep into making my own tunes aside from some really rough drafts, but eventually I will! I am a sucker for orchestral pieces, but I need to relearn music theory-

Last TV show/currently watching: I don't usually watch TV but during lunch and dinner I like to watch any kind of police thriller related show, like CSI, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Chicago series, Elementary, ecc. Also I like cooking shows and competitions, like MasterChef, Bake Off, 4 restaurants, or anything related. I like learning new ways of cooking food °^° I can't help it to love that stuff.

Sweet/spicy/savoury: sweets for the win!! I'm a sucker for anything sweet related, but something a bit spicy ain't so bad too ^^

The Soldier’s Wife (Chapter Seven)

Summary: Syverson and his wife navigate the ups and downs, the highs and lows, and the blessings and pitfalls of marriage.

A/N: Hey guys, looky here! I finally got another chapter written, and once I was inspired, it only took me an hour. Lucky you!! I hope this makes up for last chapter. Also, the sound of a baby’s heartbeat is one of my all time favorite sounds. Listen to it here. Enjoy!

CHAPTER SEVEN

“I can’t do it, Sy, I can’t!!”

“Shhhh, babygirl, you’re almost there.”

“AAAAAHHHH!!!!!”

“There she is!”

Mabel smiled softly as Syverson jogged over to her, kissing her on the cheek. His green tee hugged his body well, a large, triangular sweat stain already formed over his chest. That was one of the things Mabel loved most about him; unlike the other Captains who generally just watched and barked orders, Syverson was always out there with his men, training them, showing them that he’d be there to help get them through it. Like he had for her this last year. 

They headed toward the canteen for their traditional weekly lunch, but Mabel wasn’t very hungry. When Syverson indicated that she should order first, she just said “I’ll stick with water”. He eyed her suspiciously but didn’t argue, just ordered himself enough food to feed three grown men. His arms piled high, they found an empty table in the corner of the mess hall. Syverson set everything down and pulled Mabel’s chair out for her. 

“Ever the gentleman,” she teased quietly as she sat down. Syverson squeezed her shoulders and dropped another kiss on her cheek, choosing to sit next to her rather than across the table. He tucked into his burger at once, half of it disappearing into his large mouth in one bite. Mabel sipped her water, spinning the cap on the table absent-mindedly. Syverson eyed her again, setting the burger down and wiping his mouth.

“Ya alright, Mabel?”

“Yeah, why?”

Syverson pointed at her drink with his nose.

“Ya never “stick with water”, ya always end up drinkin’ half o’ my sweet tea.”

“Jus’ not in the mood fer it today, I reckon.”

Syverson cocked an eyebrow at his wife, not even remotely convinced. Mabel shifted in her seat uncomfortably.

“Alright, what ain’t ya tellin’ me, Bug.”

“What makes ya thing I ain’t tellin’ ya somethin’?”

“Mabel Jean Syverson,” his tone was serious, “What ain’t ya tellin’ me.”

“Whaddaya think I ain’t tellin ya, Sy?” Mabel challenged him, staring him down. Syverson leaned forward, grasping her hand in his for a kiss.

“I think ya ain’t tellin’ me yer pregnant again.”

“Well, ya’d be right, then.”

Tears pricked Mabel’s eyes at the admission, but Syverson didn’t seem to notice. His face lit up and he smiled widely, brushing her knuckles with his lips. 

“See? I told ya we’d--”

“No. No Sy, I can’t get attached. Not this time.” 

Mabel swallowed thickly, the tears spilling over as pressure mounted in her chest. Syverson scooted his chair back and pulled her onto his lap, smoothing her hair back as he crooned little nothing-words in her ear. Mabel shook, clutching her arms around his neck tightly.

“All I feel is fear, Hunter. Fear that we’re gonna lose this one too.”

“We ain’t gonna lose this one, Mabel.”

“Ya can’t promise that.”

“I can.”

“No, ya can’t.”

The conversation seemed eerily familiar. Syverson tugged Mabel’s hair slightly so that she’d look at him, and he swept the tears from her cheeks as he comforted her.

“Look, when I promised ya that ya wouldn’t lose me, did I keep that promise?”

“Well yeah, but--”

“Then I can keep this promise too. We ain’t gonna lose this one, Bug.”

Syverson chucked her gently under the chin, pulling her in for a soft kiss and pressing his forehead to hers.

“Now come on, celebrate with me; we’re havin’ a baby!”

“Maybe.”

“Okay, a maybe baby.”

Mabel couldn’t help but laugh through her tears as she kissed him. God, she loved this man.

“Sy?”

“I’m right here, Bug.”

Mabel clung to her husband, bending over as another contraction wracked her body.

“I didn’t get anything ready, I didn’t think we’d make it this far. There’s nothing prepared!”

Syverson chuckled, supporting his wife as she bore through the pain.

“Did ya really think I’d let this child come into the world without the stuff we need? It’s all ready to go, Ma’s gettin’ it set up for us while we’re here.”

Mabel looked up at him, grateful relief on her face.

“Really?”

“It’s all taken care of, Bug. Ya just focus on what ya need to do.”

Mabel sat nervously in the exam room. They’d made it to twenty weeks, and Syverson was anxious to find out the sex of the baby. He was so excited, but Mabel couldn’t bring herself to find any joy. Every week brought them closer and closer to twenty-eight weeks, and the fear coiled tightly in her chest as the impending timeline loomed menacingly over her. She refused to buy anything, convincing herself they wouldn’t be able to use it.

The tech came in and Mabel laid down obediently, holding Syverson’s hand as he watched the machine. Mabel purposefully looked away. Syverson noticed and placed a hand on her cheek, drawing his head near hers so that he could speak softly.

“Even if it’s the end, Bug, these are the only pictures we’d get,” he admonished her, stroking her skin with his thumb. “Might be best if ya take a look.”

Mabel stared into his eyes, her lips pressed into a line as she tried not to cry. He was right, of course. She turned to look at the black screen, lit up with the white outline of the child growing within her womb. Mabel’s heart caught and her throat constricted as the tech smoothed the wand over her belly, air only returning to her lungs once she heard the familiar ‘wao wao wao wao’ of her baby’s heartbeat rushing through the monitor. It was still alive. She squeezed Syverson’s hand tightly, and laid her head back on her arm, choosing to watch her husband instead of the screen.

He’d missed this appointment last time; he’d been sent somewhere for three weeks and they’d been unable to reschedule. Mabel watched the lines of Syverson’s face as he stared intently at the image of his child. She noted the way his eyes lit up, the creases around them deepening as he smiled. He chuckled when the baby kicked and he could see it on the screen, and love took over his face as he watched the baby suck its thumb. He’s my joy, Mabel determined. She would enjoy this for him.

“Oh, look here… it’s a boy!”

Mabel snapped her head to look at the screen as Syverson hollered in excitement. Sure enough, the outline was unmistakable. He was Syverson’s, alright. Mabel couldn’t help the relief she felt; another girl would have been too much for her to handle. But she still wanted her girl. The tears came unbidden, and the tech cleaned her off and left them, giving them some privacy. Syverson climbed onto the table and cradled Mabel in his arms.

“I miss her too, Bug. She’da been such a great big sis.”

Sobs wracked Mabel’s body as she grieved once more for the baby she would never hold. Their son kicked her softly, as if to say ‘don’t cry, Mama, I’m here’, and Mabel placed a hand over the spot, smiling through her tears as she held him. 

“Don’t you worry, little man. There’s plenty of love in my heart to go around.”

“Alright Mabel, ya ready?”

Mabel shook her head at the woman between her legs, sweat dripping down her brow, her chest heaving. 

“I can’t… I can’t do this, I can’t.” 

“Yes, ya can,” came a whisper in her ear. Mabel leaned her head back against Syverson’s chest, listening to him coach her through this. His caressing touch was everywhere; hands glided over her thighs, fingers brushed her sweat soaked hair out of her face, a well-placed fist pushed against the spot on her back that was causing her excruciating pain. His deep voice resonated through her mind, low and soothing.

“You are my Mabel. You’ve conquered everythin’ that’s been thrown yer way, includin’ death. So now, yer gonna conquer life, and yer gonna bring our son into this world. Ya ready?”

“What’re we gon’ name him, Bug?”

Mabel sighed and rolled her eyes. She didn’t want to have this conversation again; boy names were harder. 

“Every time we have this argument, Sy, ya end up sleepin’ on the couch cause yer mad at me.”

“Yeah I git that, Mabel, but we’re four weeks away. He needs a name.”

“Scooter.”

“Scooter Syverson. I actually like that.”

“No, Sy, I was kiddin’!”

Syverson jumped on the bed, straddling Mabel’s legs and lifting her shirt to kiss her belly repeatedly. She squealed as he purposefully brushed his beard all over her taut skin, fighting to free herself from her husband’s grasp.

“Whaddaya think, Scooter?” Syverson said to the baby, pinning Mabel’s hands and blowing a raspberry underneath her belly. Mabel shrieked and the baby kicked right where Syverson’s lips had pressed against it. Syverson grinned, looking at Mabel with his eyes wide. 

“Looks like Scooter here likes it,” he said seriously, taking a deep breath.

“No, Hunter nooo!!” Mabel cried as Syverson blew another raspberry, laughing as his mouth vibrated against her skin. The baby kicked again and Syverson chuckled with glee, loving the ability to bond with his child. He blew raspberry after raspberry on Mabel’s belly until she finally got a hand free and smacked his head. She pulled him up by his hair to meet her lips, and Syverson kissed her attentively, smoothing his hand over her stomach and relishing in the feel of his son’s movements.

“He still needs a name,” he mumbled against his wife’s lips. She tangled her fingers in his hair and pulled him in deeper, tasting the rich flavor of his tongue. 

“I just figured he’d be a junior,” she moaned as Syverson’s fingertips dipped beneath the band of her sleep shorts. He stopped a moment and looked at Mabel fondly.

“Ya mean it?”

“Yeah I do.”

“I’d really like that.”

Syverson picked up the pace, hooking his fingers into Mabel’s core and kissing her neck in earnest.

“I’m still gonna call him Scooter though.”

“AAAAAHHHHH!!!!”

“One more push and you can rest, come on Mabel! You can do it!”

Another contraction swept through Mabel and she cried out. Syverson’s grip was firm under her knees, his chin tucked into her shoulder and a constant stream of comforting words and gentle encouragement poured into her ear. Mabel bent her head low and pushed, agonizing screams tumbling from her lips as her body was ripped open. She could see her son’s head in the mirror behind the doctor; they were close, they were so close. Just one more push. 

Mabel braced herself and pushed with all her might, reaching down instinctively to catch her baby as he was expelled from her womb. Loud commotion filled the room as suddenly everyone was cheering. A loud wail sung out from the babe on Mabel’s chest and she and Syverson laughed with him, sobs constricting their chuckles. Mabel’s laughter turned to tears as she stared at her child, thinking of the baby buried beneath the Live Oak tree. Her brother looked just like her. 

“You did it, Mama,” Syverson whispered in her ear, and Mabel turned to look up at him, kissing him softly.

“I wish he could have met Einsley.” she sniffed, drinking in the sight of her newborn son. Syverson brushed the back of his finger over the smattering of dark curls on the baby’s head, wrapping his other arm around his wife.

“I do too, babygirl. I do too.”

Mabel heard a low, murmuring voice as her eyelids fluttered awake. She turned in the hospital bed and saw Syverson near the window, cradling their newborn son over his shoulder as he hummed his favorite tune. He heard Mabel stir and turned, gazing at her softly.

“I need to nurse,” she said quietly, reaching for the baby. Syverson brought him over and laid him in her arms, sliding next to them to cuddle on the bed. He watched as Mabel took out her breast and their son greedily latched on, drawing life-sustaining nourishment from her body. Syverson kissed Mabel gently on the forehead as he stroked her hair.

“Ya done good, Mama,” he whispered. Mabel smiled gently at him, and together they watched as the new piece of their souls entwined himself into their shared heart.

Top Albums of 2020

I was tagged by the amazing @joonni to list my top nine twelve albums of 2020! This was honestly so hard, but so fun. I love any tags to do with music xD (Your music taste was amazing btw! Sorry I went a little crazy and did a few extra lol.) Thanks lovie 💓

I went with the albums that I loved as whole (aka I loved most, if not all, of the songs) and listened to the most this year. Some choices have deeper meanings, while others were just flat-out enjoyable. I also stuck with albums that came out this year only, but I wasn’t sure if that was inherently part of the challenge. I wasn’t too picky on the criteria, just went with the ones that made up the score for my 2020. All albums have Spotify links incase something catches your eye! (Apologies for my extra-ness; I added recommendations from each album and a brief...ish explanation as to why it made the list.)

Also, they’re in no particular order, because this was difficult enough...

Map of the Soul: 7 by BTS

Explanation — This album was my first comeback as part of the BTS Army. There are so many tracks that I adore, and I honestly can’t remember the last time I was so excited for music. It breathed life into my Spotify, it was the album I listened to the most this year, and Black Swan was my most listened song. The differing music genres that they played with, all the way from orchestral to trap to hip hop and synth pop, left me more and more excited as the songs progressed. If there was a #1 on this list, it would be MOTS:7.

Zero: Fever Part.1 by Ateez

Explanation — This was the soundtrack to my summer. I hadn’t heard much from Ateez, but what I had heard, I wasn’t a huge fan of? Maybe I hadn’t been grabbed yet, but oh boy. Zero: Fever definitely did that. Every track is such high energy and memorable, so it was so hard to pick favorites! I’ll always think back on this one for summer, and will be transported back to plenty of sunset commutes.

The Dream Chapter: Eternity by Tomorrow x Together

Explanation — Until this mini album, I had only listened to TXT in passing. I liked their stuff, but I feel like this is where they really found their stride. TDC:E caught me totally off-guard, in the best way possible. To me at least, this one is a work of art. Each of the six tracks is so entrancing, and so different from each other while still working together as a cohesive story. And don’t even get me started on the MVs! This is an album that I listen to for feels and fun, which to me, TXT are just brilliant at. 

Highlights — Fairy of Shampoo, Maze in the Mirror, Eternally

Dystopia: The Tree of Language by Dreamcatcher

Explanation — It took me forever to find a girl group that I could really stan, like hardcore. This comeback for Dreamcatcher was when I realized they were it for me. This album in particular is so diverse. Their voices are both haunting and beautiful, and the way they interweave rock/alternative elements into their music has always turned my ear. They are so different from so many other girl groups out there, from the sound to their stage presence to their aesthetic. I will never stop talking about them, and this album really shows the best of their work thus far.

Highlights — Red Sun, Sahara, Paradise

BE by BTS

Explanation — How could BE not be on this list? What a perfect end to a shitty year. There’s something so comforting yet uplifting about this one, and I will happily admit I cried when I first heard Blue & Grey. Who am I kidding, I still do. There’s only one other artist I have listed on here with two albums, so BTS is in good company. What more is there to say other than BE was the warm hug we all needed.

Heng:garae by Seventeen

Explanation — This is another group that I hadn’t listened to much before this album. I was so surprised and excited. Every song that passed, I found myself smiling more. Their voices are astoundingly beautiful, and the songs are sickeningly catchy. Another album that I go to just to have fun. It’s one of my favorites to just put on when a day is good, but doesn’t Seventeen make it a little better regardless?

Highlights — Fearless, Kidult, I Wish, Together

The Untamed by various

Explanation — If you’ve seen the Chinese drama The Untamed, then you know exactly why this is on there. This album is a collection of songs that are themes for the characters in the show, most of which are sung by the actors themselves. Let me tell you; I don’t know a lick of Mandarin, but these are some of the most stunning songs I’ve ever heard. It’s one of the things that drew me to the drama to begin with; everything, including the music, is breathtaking. The classical Chinese sound plays so well with the character’s stories and singer’s vocals. They tell stories all on their own and give the drama so much depth. Even if you’re not a fan of the show or webtoon it’s based on, give this one a listen. You won’t be disappointed!

Humanity (Chapters I & II) by Thomas Bergersen

Explanation — If you know anything about me, you know how important orchestral music is to me. It’s been a huge part of my music journey ever since I was in middle school. Thomas Bergersen has been my favorite composer for years; the way he integrates the classical with the modern is just...there are no words. These two albums cannot be listed separately; they’re part of a seven-part project titled Humanity. Chapters I & II came out in 2020, and honestly, I have no words. The way he tells a story through almost entirely lyric-less work is just immaculate. I’ve never felt more powerful, emotional, or inspired than when listening to these two. I cried when I first heard Your Imagination and Materialize. No matter how I am feeling, whether I need inspiration or hope or just some peace of mind, I go here. I’ve never felt more healed than when listening to his work. If you take a chance to listen to anything on this list, PLEASE. Give these a try.

Brightest Blue by Ellie Goulding

Explanation — I don’t listen to a ton of western music that isn’t orchestral or lofi, but I used to adore Ellie Goulding. Halcyon was my entire teen-hood. When I saw she came out with a new album this year, I gave it a listen for sentimentality reasons. And boy, I still love her. Her voice is both angelic and haunting, and her sound is so unique. The messages given in these songs are powerful, potent, a tad bit bittersweet, and especially valid for young women navigating adult life. Also the instrumentals backing her vocals are often big and grand and symphonic, filled with piano and violin. That’s enough to get me to listen. And to top it all off, the collabs she has on this album are so fitting for each track, it’s absolutely beautiful.

Beneath Your Waves by Sleepy Fish

Explanation — If there’s one kind of music that shuts off the little anxiety bug in my brain and gets me to work, one that isn’t as intense as orchestral music and that doesn’t put me into sensory overload like orchestral sometimes does, it’s lofi. And Sleepy Fish does it so freakin’ well. This album that came out this year is one of my most often repeated over and over. When I’m struggling with sensory issues at work, I put this one repeat and my mind just...goes...quiet. It’s like medicine. And the tunes are so catchy and sweet. I’m instantly transported to someplace magical, some seaside city straight out of a Ghibli film, and far away from the things that are troubling me. Then I can finally get some work done, get to sleep, or just quiet my mind. If you struggle with sensory issues or anxiety like I do, give this album a shot. Also, the album titled My Room Becomes The Sea from 2019 is excellent.

WOOPS! by Woodz

Explanation — Another mini album that is just a blast to listen to, but it also has such a soft side that hits me in the feels. I don’t see a lot of people talking about Woodz, but you all should give him a listen. He’s so talented, and his voice on this one is just *chef’s kiss* everything. The mixing is also impeccable and pairs so well with his vocals.

Highlights — Bump Bump, On my own, Sweater, Tide

D-2 by Agust D

Explanation — I mean, we all knew this one was gonna be dope. Yoongi did not disappoint. This mixtape is so different from most of the stuff I listen to, but I absolutely adored it. The truth and rhythm and pure talent in each and every verse stuns me still. I find myself especially drawn to this one when I’m frustrated (not exclusively, but often, ‘cause 2020.) Both his truth and sound give me a safe place to feel that frustration and anxiety and vent/work through it. I don’t know what it is about Yoongi, but to me, all of his work is like a comforting friend going, “Hey, you’re totally valid and okay for feeling this way...but it sucks, doesn’t it?”

1. if someone wanted to really understand you, what would they read, watch, and listen to?

I don’t really read as much as I would like (shame) but say, for listening, there’s a favorite choice that says a lot about me and it’s epicore music. let me explain: orchestra mixed with electronica. Think Hans Zimmer! Audiomachine is my greatest love in the genre, but there’s also Two Steps From Hell and a few select composers I’m giving a try like Thomas Bergersen and Mark Petrie. A lot of my creativity starts with epicore!

as for watching, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures (for my kind of humor and whack ass thoughts), Hellsing Ultimate (for the gory part of me that loves both vampires and the death of nazis) and Timm’s Batman: The Animated Series (for the simple things in life). that they are all anime/animation already tells you a lot skldjklsjf

20. would you rather be in Middle Earth, Narnia, Hogwarts, or somewhere else?

depends...Narnia and Hogwarts are essentially our world with the touch of the magical, which inspires me more about the wonders that might hide in plain sight. I was never super into the stories. never read their books! Hogwarts does bring me fonder memories. I should hope to be a wizard!

 {Get to Know my Muse in 8 Songs or Less}

Music is a great way to get a sense of a character’s personality, history, or general vibes. You might only have a handful of songs you associate your muse, or you could have a massive playlist that’s impossible to list. Songs make it for all kinds of reasons: the lyrics, the genre, or maybe you just found the song at random and it stuck. The purpose of this meme is to introduce your muse in the span of one album or less, share some of your musical inspiration, or even stuff you’re into right now while you write! You can explain as much or as little as you like (multimuses are welcome to do one track per character too!).

((I kind of broke the rules of this meme, and made a playlist for my main 3 muses. It’s a lot to go through, so its ok if you don’t want to listen to them all... ^^;))

General

1. [Stadler - Dreams of war] This was actually one of the first theme songs I chose for General, but I feel like it still manages to capture his personality prefectly. I think it kind of speaks for itself.

2. [A Cerulean State - If Only I Had Forever] When I listen to this song, I imagine General leaning against a balcony and staring at the stars... Maybe thinking about the things that could have been.

3. [Evening Star - Octavia] Here’s one that’s more upbeat. Even though this is an MLP song, it’s always reminded me of General. I don’t really know what this one makes me think of though...

4. [Two Steps From Hell - Submariner] Here’s a look at General’s more serious side. This one makes me think of General on the move. Most likely headed to a battle.

5. [David Edwards - Insurrection] I’ve been thinking about choosing this song as his new combat theme, because it captures how scrary it would actually be to fight him. His armor is nearly impenetrable, he’s strong enough to bash through the walls of fortresses, can easily crush a reploid in his hand, and It’s almost impossible to hide from his onslaught (if you’re a reploid) because his whiskers can detect electrical activity. I tend to assocoiate heavy sounding orchestral stuff with him anyways.

6. [Audiomachine  -  Last Plane Out] I chose this song to be the theme of General’s sacrifice. I remember that in my story, I actually drew the scene out a bit. Instead of moving himself into the path of the final weapon’s beam, he instead dives into the structures surrounding the core, and uses the last of his strength to cause as much destruction as he can. General eventually succumbs to his wounds, and has a surprisingly peaceful death before the inferno from the core’s implosion could take him. He died a true hero, giving up everything he had already sacrificed so much for to protect the innocent humans and reploids of earth.

7. [The Volga Boatmen (Paul Robeson cover)] I remember sharing this song to show how I imagined General’s singing voice to sound.

Colonel

1. [Two steps from hell - Never back down] This is the song I chose to be Colonel’s theme song. Beleive it or not, it has actual lyrics. I think they suit him really well.

2. [Kingdom Hearts II Soundtrack - Passion - KINGDOM Orchestra Instrumental Version] If I could make this Colonel’s theme I would, but I have a personal rule against using songs from popular media for themes. I remember a time when I had almost lost muse for him, but listening to this song helped me remember his more noble and heroic side (mostly at 1:56 though).

3. [Thomas Bergersen - Immortal] This is actually one of the previous theme songs I had for him. I think it still does kind of fit

4. [Two Steps From Hell - Winterspell] Whenenver I listen to this one, it almost makes me picture a scene where Colonel goes on some kind of mission. Also so far it seems like most of these songs make me think of Colonel running. He’s pretty good at that after all, being able to reach a top speed of 30mph on foot.

5. [Charlene Soraia - Wherever You Will Go] Sometimes I imagine Colonel singing this song to Iris. It reminds me of an idea I had a while ago where Colonel and Iris would have a bit of a falling-out, and Iris would try to stay on Earth with Zero while Colonel would try to go space with General. Still, even though her descision had hurt him, he respected her choice. They had been close their whole life, and now... They would be truly separated for the first time. Even though she’s not there to listen, it’s like Colonel is silently calling for her to come back. It makes me feel a little choked up knowing that despite all the greif that Iris had caused him during the war, he never stopped loving her. (One of the lyrics doesen’t really work here, but... you know.)

6. [Manowar - Die with Honor] The lyrics of this song really makes me think of Colonel’s last stand against Zero at the spaceport. I remember imagining that He had actually decided to stay back and fight off the hunters so that General could escape. Maybe I’d change a couple words in the song though, since Colonel never had a son... ^^; It also makes me think of this card from Teppen, which says: “Pushing himself ever further for the sake of his comrades, this proud reploid's blade can cleave any enemy in to two.”

7. [Two steps from hell - Unforgiven] This is the battle theme I’d decided on for him. The ascending notes in the background are like rising winds, the snare is like rain hitting your face, and the big drum that comes every now and again is like a thunderclap. Near the end, I imagine that Colonel is wounded, but has one last surge of energy before he either wins or loses. I didn’t call him the “Silver Prince of storms” for nothing. I remember imagining that his final battle with Zero would get so stormy and rainy that they would both have reduced visibility and would be at risk of falling off of the bridge they’re fighting on.

8: [josielemmings - In a Dying Whisper] “...Never in my life did I expect you to be the one to strike me down... Our practice duels... At one time we bonded over them... But now... It seems that they were only the beginning..." -Colonel, when he realized he was dying I’d say that by the time the chorus starts, he’s completely gone.

Iris

1. [Lucas king - Smiles] This is the song I chose for Iris’s theme. I think it really fits the impression she tends to leave on people.

2. [Lucas King - Cat] In Iris’s bio, I used this song to describe the way she feels when she’s with Colonel. Warmth, happiness, security, familiarity... Those are the words that come to my mind. I like how the bass of the song almost makes me think of Colonel’s presence and/or voice.

3. [Yann Tiersen - Summer 78] I’m not quite sure why, but this song still reminds me of Iris. I guess it’s her more ‘serious‘ theme. I feel like this track and the one after it do kind of capture her hopefulness.

4. [Yann Tiersen - Mother's Journey] This one makes me picture Iris running through the rain as fast as she can, as well as how she did her best to endure the turmoil happening around her. It makes me think of her perserverance and her quiet desperation.

5. [SAMUEL BARBER - Adagio for Strings] I imagined this to play when Iris would go to Repliforce’s spaceport, but she would find that not only have all of the ships left, there’s also fallen Repliforce soldiers littering her path. Eventually, she finds Colonel laying there... Completely motionless. She was too late to say she was sorry...

6. [Really Slow Motion & Giant Apes - Swirling Dinosaurs] This one was a last-minute descision, since I was kind of dissatisfied with the battle theme that’s actually in her bio (for X4). When Iris fought Zero, she was pushed to her physical, emotional, and psychological limits... All for the sake of trying to finish Colonel’s fight for him.

7. [Lucas King - Hurt] I picked this song to play for Iris’s death scene. No joke, when I played this over the cutscene in X4 (redubbed), I felt like my eyes got slightly moist. It really reminds me of her body struggling to stay alive in that moment as she becomes weaker by the second.

[Atherine Jenkins & Laszlo Maleczky - Amigos Para Siempre] I’ve kind of made this my song for Colonel and Iris. I oftem imagine them singing it as a duette.

Toshinori Yagi x Fem! Reader

Note: none. 

You weren’t supposed to be as bad ass and strong as you were. You were a five foot girl who looked like she couldn’t harm a fly. Once a agency signed you and seen your work, they were immediately taken back. You didn’t cause damage, your quirk was strong and you didn’t even come from U.A. High School. You hailed from Ketsubutsu Academy and not a lot of people paid attention to them. 

The agency that signed you was the same one that signed All Might when he first became a hero. Soon enough, they started show casing their top heroes in order to gain some leverage on other agencies. 

You were among the first ones to be invited. Your quirk had the ability to trick villains into thinking that they were dead. You were a grim reaper of sorts but without actually killing anyone. It was first seen as a dangerous quirk because if you let it get out of hand, you could actually kill them but after training and learning how to control it, it wasn’t bad. 

The day of the event came and you were told to dress in business formal clothes but to make sure that your identity was hidden. In the end, you sported a black and white knee high dress with a mouth guard and a domino mask. It looked bad ass as hell and you were seriously considering your hero uniform. 

They lined up six different people and you happened to be dead last. Everyone at the show case was extremely tall but they all had quirks that you had seen before. Your quirk was a unique one that would make you stand out. Hearing everyones name and watching their hype video, you finally heard your name. 

“(your hero name), she graduated from Ketsubutsu Academy and went on to travel the world for hero work. After finally signing to our agency, we groomed her to the best damn hero anyone has seen on such a small girl. With the ability to trick villains into thinking that they’re dead, she has captured and turned in over 30+ villains.” 

They went on to explain your quirk even more and while everyone was stunned, you couldn’t help but laugh. After the video, they were playing “Dark Ages” by Thomas Bergersen as you stepped out. 

The crowd didn’t expect you to be so small and you stood in line with the other heroes. 

“Please welcome you’re newest top heroes!” 

All Might sat in the crowd over looking the heroes that would soon replace him. The one he couldn’t wrap his around was you. Your quirk was so unique but you were so tiny. You looked like one of his students, height wise. 

Once the showcase was over, there was a cocktail dinner in order to get older heroes to interact with the newer ones. All Might spoke to the newest heroes first in order to get to talk to you more. He noticed you with Present Mic and Midnight. 

“Ah! All Might! Have you met (your hero name)!” Present Mic asked enthusiastically. 

All Might nodded no but he noticed your face was struck with shock. 

“Holy shit, you’re All Might. The symbol of peace! Jesus fucking christ, I’m about to pass out,” You said without realizing what you actually said. “I am so sorry but I’m a huge fan. I’m so excited to finally meet you.” 

All Might laughed at your amusement, “Nice to meet you! It’s such a pleasure meeting someone with your unique quirk! You’ll do a great service to this agency!” 

Your mouth dropped in surprise and soon realized that Midnight and Present Mic had left which left you and All Might.

“You really did inspire me to become a hero! I was entering college when your first came on the scene and I can tell you that everyone in the room was so admired by your work when you defeated the villain,” You confessed. “I hope to reach your level of hero work one day.” 

All Might felt himself already slowly falling for you. No one had ever gushed about his work like that before. No one besides Izuku. 

“With time, training and work, you will reach great things,” All Might boasted. “Would you mind if I treated you for a drink.” 

You immediately accepted the offer and the two of you made your way to the bar. Sitting down and talking over some whisky, the conversation continued for over two hours. 

All Might looked down to his watch and seen that he had to leave before his body left, “I have some late night patrolling to do. I hope to see you around!” 

You nodded and waved him off. Just as you were about to get up, you noticed that All Might had left his number on a napkin. You felt yourself squealing internally and immediately put the napkin in your pocket. 

After texting each other and setting up a date, you felt a bit scared for actually going on a date with him. What if others seen it as some kind of way to be more popular? That you were only using All Might in order to gain popularity from the rest of the world. 

The date went smoothly as a first date could go. The two of you went to a secret restaurant that Midnight had offered. It was an exclusive club for heroes who wanted to date other heroes without getting caught.

After a few more dates, the two of you started to date. The topic of revealing each others real identities was mentioned but you knew that it had to happen if the relationship was going to be serious. You had no problem revealing your real self to All Might but he was the one who hesitated. 

The world knew about the relationship between you and All Might. The two of you exposed it and it got great reception from the public. The two of you teamed up a lot more and some of the public basically praised the ground you walked on. 

All Might did have his issues though. He could tell that a few new heroes had their eyes on you. You were attractive, smart, funny and knew how to interact with a crowd. You were everything that All Might used to be. Since he knew that he had to retire soon, you were going to be by yourself and working with other heroes.

The time that it really hit him was when you and Hawks were teaming up. You were kicking the villains ass while Hawks saved people. It seemed that the two of you worked a lot faster and while you did work at a great pace with All Might, he still felt that insecurity in the back of his mind. 

You were getting ready for a date and you knew that something was up with All Might. He was starting to leave dates a lot faster and not really participating in battles unless it was a serious one. 

Slipping on the domino mask, you heard the doorbell. You quickly put on your shoes and ran to the door. You seen All Might standing at your doorway with flowers in his hand. 

“All Might, they’re beautiful,” You whispered as you ushered him inside. “Let me put this in a cup and we can head out.” 

It didn’t take less than a minute before you heard coughing fit. Quickly turning around, you were greeted to someone else. A frail man with blood streaming down his face. 

“All Might?!” You screamed in a questioning tone. “What the hell, get in here!” 

You grabbed him by the wrist and brought him inside. Grabbing a towel, you wiped his mouth.

You nodded, “Is this the real you?” 

“Yes it is and if this relationship is willing to continue, you’re going to have to accept me for what I really look like. I might not be the muscular guy you fell in love with but this is who I am,” Toshinori confessed. 

You hugged him and kissed his cheek, “Toshnori, I don’t care how you look. Yeah, i might have fell in love with the muscular you but you look far better now. This is the real you.” 

You slowly took off your domino mask and ripped off your mouth guard, “If this is what kept you from me, I’m sorry. We agreed to be together and when people fall in love, we have to fall in love with everything.” 

Toshinori sighed of relief, “Now can we go out like regular people instead of hiding behind masks and mouth guards?” 

“Duh, now let’s get you some fresh clothes and go do something fun. The amusement park literally opened a few days ago and I’ve been dying to ride some rides,” You confessed as you immediately got up to your feet.

favorite musician: well i have a few so im just gonna pick one of my favs. thomas bergersen, his music u all should if u have the chance look it up cuz his music is inspiring. my fav piece of his is called sun, omg fam it is one of the most beautiful songs ever. my sis showed it to me and was listening to it her whole life, i felt like saying I WAS TOTALLY MISSING OUT!

favorite food: fries, or piñón which is a puerto rican lasagna but made with maduritos, which is plátanos or bananas (the big green ones) when they turn yellow and dark they get sweet so u use that in the piñón. and yes it does require cheese.

languages: english and i can understand spanish, and i can kinda speak spanish, and i can kinda write it.

the  thrill  of  upcoming  adventure  and  all  the  anxiety  sunk  deep  into  the  core  of  that  sensation  ,  looming  like  a  distant  fog  ,  but  never  enough  to  smother  the  intensity  of  the  excitement  ;  no  matter  the  danger  ,  that  fog  can  never  overcome  the  joy  of  exploration

the  stomach  that  flip  flops  over  itself  with  exhilaration  at  the  sight  of  an  ancient  relic  lost  to  time  ,  hidden  from  human  view  for  hundreds  of  years  ;  the  realization  that  it  may  sit  in  study  and  display  from  now  on  ,  inspiring  others  into  adventures  of  their  own

Why This Username?: Sing in me muse is the first line of the Odyssey in the translations I found and I'm a mythology geek so I'm all about the lore of the writer asking the Muses for their divine inspiration that Homer had going at the beginning of his epics and this entire blog was originally meant to be an archive for stuff that inspire me or resources so I'm also invoking the Muses. Sadly, sing in me muse was not an available username. So yeah. Sing to me muse.

We had two more cats but one of them, named Ginger unfortunately died, and her son, Simba, ran away (ironically given his namesake, now that I think about it)
