King lol
YUUUUS I was hoping someone would ask about King! I have a fair few things to say about him, hehe...
This is sorta canon already, as a few of King's face sprites do show this, but I think King has a couple scars on his face. Whether they're from when he battled the other kings or he got them as a result of his battle with Kris, Susie, and Ralsei, he has scars on his face.
King and Queen divorced when Lancer was about two or three years old, maybe four. This way, Lancer is old enough to know who his mother is, but not necessarily old enough to have a true bond with her or know her extremely well. Lancer calls all of his parental figures "Dad" in some way, and by the end of Chapter 2, Lancer is calling Queen "Girldad" instead of just "Mom" or "Mother".
King was, at one point or another, a truly good father to Lancer. I do not care what some people in the UT/DR fandom say. I will stand behind this opinion/piece of lore until the day I die. I mean, who gave Lancer his bike? Rouxls Kaard? Rouxls Kaard doesn't strike me as the type who would gift Lancer a bike. Rouxls Kaard is nice to Lancer, sure, and he may seem to like Lancer and actively care for him, but still. Another possibility is that it was Queen, but ehhh...I'm not too sure about her either. We know very little about King's backstory. It's entirely possible that he treated Lancer as a true son and gifted him his bike.
I think King was temporarily controlled by the Knight during his boss fight in Chapter 1. If King was not ever controlled by the Knight, he at least has some strong connection to them. He literally praises the Knight during his battle. He is the only Darkner who has done so, at least so far. Call me crazy, but I believe King will rebel against the Knight by the end of the game. I don't have any reason as to why King would do this, but I'm sure Lancer will have something to do with it.
King may or may not know some of the Lightners from Hometown. I saw a post someone made about how a few Lightners were aware of the Dark World long before Kris, Susie, Noelle, and Berdly came along, and it definitely could be a possibility. We don't know how long the lifespans of Darkners are. Since they're based off of objects from Hometown, they could be centuries old as far as we know.
Going back to Lancer, King, and the Knight for a minute, I don't think King was a horrible father to Lancer at all. I believe the Knight had some say in imprisoning the other kings and having King himself rule with an iron fist, but even then, King was still not a horrible father to Lancer. There are some subtle things in the game that hint at this. And besides, if King was as horrible of a father as some make him out to be, Lancer would likely be much more willing to let Susie, Kris, and Ralsei meet King and knock some sense into him. But Lancer is not like this at all. He's the complete opposite. He only lets Susie, Kris, and Ralsei free once he is fully convinced everything will turn out okay.
Before the other kings were locked up, King got along decently with them. I wouldn't say they were best buddies, but they had to at least tolerate one other, since they were all ruling the Dark World together at one point. I think Jevil went insane and was imprisoned when all four kings were ruling together.
Speaking of the other kings, I wouldn't be surprised if King knew them ever since they were all kids. Granted, we know absolutely nothing about King's childhood, so this is more of a headcannon than simply lore, but I think this has some possibility.
King knows some of the Darkners from Cyber World. He obviously knows about Queen lol, but he could know of a few others as well. Tasque Manager is one possibility, as she is aware of Jevil. I think all Dark Worlds are connected together in some fashion.
That's all I can think of for now. I may have more lore ideas/opinions, but this is what you'll get right now. Thanks for the suggestion ^-^!

Deltarune & gnosticism?
so gnosticism started life primarily as an early Christian heresy; I won't go into the full details on the historical form bc like frankly the specific details here aren't as important. the key belief that matters is that material reality is in some way false or untrue, a malicious lie perpetuated by a sort of lesser deity or corrupted angel called the demiurge. beyond that lie lies the truth.
deltarune is interesting because there's in some ways a layer cake of demiurges going on lmao. the dark worlds are false realities made real by the lightners, and of course the entire game is a false reality made real for the player/the Angel. (just take player-angel theory as a given for gnostic stuff it makes it all more fun). spamton and jevil are both Darkners that were made to understand this dual-layer entrapment, that they were immured doubly in falsehood, and as is clear they took it super fucking well.
i find this absolutely fascinating bc as my mom once noted to me lol we the player are being framed in the role of the unknowable false god maintaining the lie for ineffable reasons, but ofc we know our reasons and they're perfectly valid! there's no way for the characters to genuinely escape to a higher reality than the light world, and only while the game runs does anything happen at all. but that doesn't mean the characters don't have reasons to still want to banish the angels heaven.
similarly a layer down the Darkners don't truly understand why the knight(s) is/are acting and have to make guesses and reach conclusions, ranging from "I'm special and chosen to bring out Their will" to "this is all fake fuck all y'all", and I think the answer of "one or more residents of this small town has severe personal problems they're working out thru creating alternate realities" wouldn't exactly satisfy king Or jevil,
in conclusion: le sad demiurge

Hmm... Yeah, what's hanging me up is that there are darkners that seem to have histories too specific and too knowledgeable about things very specific to the Dark World and Light World As mentioned, several Darkners seem to know later bosses or super bosses - how is this possible? How do Jevil and King know about Queen even before she exists? You could say, "Well, they interacted at some point as objects. The library is right next to the school." And sure, that's logical, but it's also oddly specific. Surely these objects did not interact purely with areas which would become a dark world? Jevil should have memories of The Queen as much as the wall of Astral Wolf quotes. The idea that the Darkners speak of Lightners being rare now is also something that makes a lot of sense in the Unused Classroom - But you also see Darkners talk about this in the librarby, which doesn't. The Librarby isn't abandoned, it sees lightners frequently. Susie has been there enough to know about Space Pinball; Berdly works there; Noelle usually studies there instead of at home. Yet there are still people there who say that lightners are rare to see. There's also Spamton. Spamton got a lot of spotlight in the sweepstakes, but we saw some rather specific interactions between him and Noelle. Now, Spamton interacting with us, specifically, probably is not 'canon.' But the things he talks about probably are - elemental pairs, and the like Spamton noted that he has a great affinity for Noelle, specifically, because she was the only one who ALWAYS read the spam he sent out. For this, he sent her a gift: The Pipis, a "secret character" in the Cat Petterz game she liked to play. Noelle, in turn, notes that a lot of the things in the Dark World are "Nostalgic" or "Familiar." This implies a past connection.
So it's like... Is it possible that these two Dark Worlds had been opened in the past, and then 'closed' afterwards. Or a smaller part in the past had been opened, or something. When the new chapter comes out, we will be in Kris' house. I will be curious if the darkners there will be more like... "We have an awareness! We can think! How wonderful!" But, it's also possible that Deltarune is going to delve more into the nature of linear storytelling - likely, even. People like Spamton and Jevil might know what it coming, and who, because what is coming is LITERALLY predetermined. Deltarune is a series of linear chapters. The familiarity and knowledge? It might come from some sort of awareness not of the dark worlds as limited, but of the game as a world that is limited as well... But, so far, I am of the opinion that these dark worlds which we have experienced are literally 'older' than we think, in some capacity, and the major events like Spamton's rise and fall literally happened
the deltarune discord server i joined recently was talking about darkner / dark world histories again earlier today, and i missed the main conversation, but it did prompt me to type out my understanding of the three options to the answer of "how do dark worlds seem to have pasts from before the fountains are made, when queen says the knight created the cyber world?"
here are the options i proposed:
Option A
pure last-thursday-ism / retroactive history. the darkners have no sentience until a fountain is made; their and the dark world's past is all a creation of the fountain, with the memories implanted into the darkners from the moment they become sentient, though it borrows from how the objects were interacted with by lightners (how it accesses that history (beyond the knight's own memories) i'm not sure; maybe the objects somehow store that data like memories, which are then accessed by the fountain?)
Option B
the darkners have some level of sentience as objects, but don't exist in their darkner form until a fountain is made; their memories from being objects are edited, given new/different context, by the fountain
Option C
the darkners pre-fountain exist as darkners in some proto version of the dark world on a lower level of reality, while simultaneously being objects in the light world. the proto dark world is essentially a mirror version of the light world where the stuff that happens to the objects in the light world is reflected in the dark world context (but darkners can also interact in the dark world without it being reflected in the light world, allowing for, say, spamton and jevil, a spam email and a playing card, to have a history with each other). when a fountain is made, it "remakes" that (section of the) dark world based on the knight's will, thereby keeping in line with queen saying the knight "create[d]" the cyber world. the proto versions of dark world may take their form less directly from the room the fountain is made in, which would make the sentiment of the knight "creating" a given dark world more accurate. it's still possible there's some memory alteration involved to make the darkners' memories of their pasts more cohesive, especially in the scenario that the proto dark world is, in appearance and structure, significantly different from the dark worlds we've explored thus far in-game.
got all that? good. now, let me ask...

Undertale Color Theory
ok its been what seven years now since Undertale came out and in that time I’ve always resisted it but that ends now, here’s my Undertale color theory, which after some analysis holds more weight than I previously thought (watch out its long)
ok so in the ball game in Snowdin Forest each color soul is assigned a trait right?
so if you assign meanings to colors the logical assumption is that this stays somewhat consistent
so I always took these colors as a hint at certain characters personalities, basically if you check their colors the traits match up, I only ever used this on a select few characters mainly because their stripes match the colors really well
for example
Chara and Asriel have Green and Yellow stripes
Green means Kindness and Yellow means Justice
meaning together they are kind and just
I’d say this matches up seeing as Asriel is known for being kind and Chara inflicts a sort of justice on you at the end of a no mercy run
ok how about Frisk?
Frisk’s colors are Light Blue and Purple
Light Blue is Patience and Purple is Perseverance
meaning Frisk is patient and perseveres
Perseverance is a synonym for Determination, so no questions there, but patient? Well seeing as Frisk is the player character and play styles vary this is a little harder to pin down, but seeing how in the no mercy run when Chara takes control they can just walk through various sections and puzzles, this shows patience by contrast, but that isn’t super satisfying. So let’s just say making your way through an entire underground of puzzles and monsters constantly attacking you without hurting them back takes patience especially if you keep dying and coming back
Now lets move on to some new territory.
wow thats a lot of purple
Toriel and Asgore both wear purple, the deltarune is purple in most depictions, the Ruins are entirely purple.
Traditionally purple is a royal color, so that could be the reason for the sheer volume of purple in these characters specifically, but consider purple is established to mean Perseverance, what is the kingdom doing? Persevering, this could even be extended seeing as New Home is a dull version of the Ruins,
at this point the kingdom is running low on perseverance, so no more purple
This same idea can also be applied to the Judgement Hall, which is saturated in Yellow, Justice.
Lets go back to characters now
Sans, Light Blue, Patience easy
and additionally
Yellow and Light Blue, Justice and Patience, self explanatory
Papyrus’ colors are Red, Light Blue, and Yellow
Red is commonly thought to be determination, but that isn’t necessarily its meaning there’s also the chance it means something else along the lines of “sincerity”* either way, if you use determination’s meaning as a word they both fit Papyrus, he is determined to get into the royal guard.
ok Light Blue, Patience, unfortunately I can’t find it at the moment but when Papyrus decided he wanted to be a guard he went to Undyne in the middle of the night then waiting there all night when she slammed the door in his face
Now Justice, when he’s made King in the King Papyrus ending he switches the policy to judge humans on a case by case basis which I’d say is more Just than the previous policy
Undyne’s colors are Dark Blue, Red and Yellow
Justice and Integrity are pretty self explanatory, and Red works with either Determination or Sincerety
Alphys doesn’t wear any visible colors that correspond with the souls, though her Yellow scales could be a reference to Justice, this could be taken in a variety of ways, I’ll leave that to you.
I’m a little hesitant to apply this to the characters physical color due to some monsters just being the color of an animal they’re based on
however clothes are free game, I’ll leave this with one last character
Monster Kid. They’re established to be wearing a striped shirt, Yellow and brown, which doesn’t fit, so we’ll ignore it, though if you really wanted to push it, it could be an orange.
But anyway, Yellow is Justice, in the No Mercy run they stand up to you for hurting others, Justice (and if you want to say the other stripe is orange, also a display of Bravery)
Not really sure how to end this so yeah, I bet you could apply this to more characters and probably their houses or something too, I know Toriel’s house being Yellow fits with her retreat there for Justice, and Asgore’s being gray shows the lack of Justice in comparison.
---
*one of my links is out of date now, so I’ll just quickly run through what I mean by sincerity here, basically the red soul in the ball game is given this description
[Red - Try as you might, you continue to be yourself]
Along with the
“It’s you!”
“Despite everything, it’s still you.”
“Still just you, Frisk.”
“It’s me, Chara.”
text from the mirrors.
There’s evidence to suggest every human had the ability to control time and possessed Determination, meaning having red represent Determination would be pointless, having it match up more with those “being yourself” type messages would make more sense, the post I had linked that went defunct listed this trait as “Sincerity”, so that’s what I used here.

Got not tagged but saw this meme and wanted to do it :D
I tag @namekian-maoh and whoever else wanna try!
How many works do you have on AO3?
56 so far.
What’s your total AO3 word count?
600021 at this moment... damnit, I like nice and round numbers more XD
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
29 XD well, some are crossover and some are almost-the-same (especially with Video games where I often take multiple entires in a series into account and tag them accordingly)
As for my fandoms:
Video games: Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Among Us, Bowser's Fury, Deltarune, Don't Starve, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Final Fantasy XV, Luigi's Mansion, Mario & Luigi RPG, Monkey Island, Pikmin, Pocket Monsters | Pokemon, Super Mario & Related Fandoms, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Odyssey, Super Paper Mario, Undertale, (+ AU of Undertale)
Comic/Cartoon/Manga/Anime: Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, Yu-Gi-Oh! (All Media Types), Homestuck, Gravity Falls, DCU (Comics), Booster Gold (Comics), Blue Beetle (Comics)
Books/Movies/Divers: Harry Potter, Mystery Skulls Animated, Olsen-banden | The Olsen Gang (Movies), Ties of Lapis (Skyrim-AU),
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. PTA Sans and other glorious things
73016 words, 3192 Kudos, so far my most successful work XD It’s still ongoing. Undertale Fanfic, Monster-on-the-Surface, True Pacifist Ending, PTA AU, SansxToriel in the Background, everybody is here, mostly happy, silly and only a small dose of angst from time to time. Later chapters with more story.
2. TrioBlasterSets AU - Six puppys and 3 flames
270813 word, 758 Kudos. I write this AU together with @namekian-maoh . Still ongoing. Undertale Baby-Blaster AU with some Underfell and Underswap thrown into it. Dadby, Badster, mostly family fluff and dealing with the experiment!gaster-blaster Background of 3 skeleton children. Also 3 flames who take care of them that have way more drama going on themselves than nessessary. Chapters are not in chronological order. Has a few Spin-offs too (including some NSFW oneshorts about the flames and their relationship ;) )
3. So I won't regret another day
19214 words, 320 Kudos. Undertale Underfell AU, Underfell Sansby with some healthy relationships, the planning of a revolt against an insane king, monster still being monster and not really made for violence in an violent setting. If officially finished but I write new chapters when the fancy strikes me.
4. Grillby's
9894 words, 265 Kudos. Deltarune/Undertale fanfic with a Spin, named Plushyrune (aka Deltarune where eveything is the same, just with Sansby and Sans makes plushies). Started as just pure silly fluff, kinda got a plot now about the kids of Deltarune. Still ongoing, new chapter is 80% done ;)
5. Something old, something new...
6579 words, 208 Kudos. Pure Post-Pacifist Surface Sansby fluff. Mostly from Grillby’s POV how they fall in love and be silly and in love. Still ongoing, haven’t really had to mojo to write more for it lately, but I WILL return at some point.
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I try to! I used to not comment on comments because I had this irrational feeling of “cheating the numbers” if I reply to comments but... screw that, I want to interact with people! So I try to answer any and all comments now :)
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Ufff, for me it’s a tie between The last chip and Laughter in the Darkness. The Last Chip is a Yu-gi-Oh! Fanfic in a series of Kaiba spiraling downwards after the Manga/Anime ended and sets up the events of Dark Site of Dimensions. It ends pretty much with Kaiba ending up getting borderline suicidal in his Obsession with the Pharaoh.
Laughter in the Darkness is the Epilog I wrote for my Gravity Falls x Amnesia Crossover where Ford is pretty much an Amnesia-Protagonist and archives the very worst ending for himself. Mind the tags if you read this. It ends with Ford at the lowest possible point for himself and its open ended if he is going fully insane or if Bill Chiper really is still around. (and it’s not clear what outcome is the better one)
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Nah, not really. I am a chill writer in my own little corners of the fandom and most people leave me alone. I did get one “But Queer is a SLUR” comment way back in the day where it was still all “????” to say that out loud. But otherwise? Nah. I am not important enough for hate, lol.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I have XD Not much thou. I wrote so far an mastubation scene with the one going down on himself heavily NOT BEING ALRIGHT while doing so XD Other than that I have 2 NSFW Undertale fics with some hot flame-on-flame action. I do like writing not-standard-sex (as in Sex that doesn’t requite human genitila) Otherwise I like to hint or describe feelings more than the act itself. More lime than lemon ;)
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of. As I said, I am not important enough for that.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I had some ppl asking for permission to translate (which of course) but as far as I know there are no translations out there as of yet.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yeah, I am writing the TrioBlasterSet AU with @namekian-maoh I did Co-write some fics way back during my fanfiction.de time too but that’s a long time ago.
What’s your all time favorite ship?
I ship a lot and am a dirty multishipper XD I have to many ships to really call one out as my favorite.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
TrioBlasterSets AU because there is always MORE to tell with this AU XD
What are your writing strengths?
I am the Queen of Worldbuilding and Crossovers baby!
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Only do it if you have a REALLY good reason for it AND if you have a good gasp on the language. Like, nothing takes me out of a fic faster than reading stuff in horrible German written by people who were to lazy to just copy/paste the word from google translate (my time in the Apollo Justice fandom has seriously scared me. It’s Fräulein, not Fraulein or Fraülein! Also you can’t just swap ei and ie around THOSE ARE DIFFERENT SOUNDS! als we have the letter ß it’s a shap s sound you can’t just use/not use it as you please!)
Also in 90% of all cases it’s just not nessessary. Write what you wanna write, TELL us it was said in a different language OR let the POV character just tell us their hear something said in an other language they couldn’t understand.
What I want to say is: Have some respect of the language you want to use!
-
What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?
I THINK it was Harry Potter? IDK I wrote a cringy Star Trek Parodie when I was like 14 or so and those OCs went through a lot from that time on forward but Idk if that even counts XD
-
What’s your favorite fic you’ve ever written?
The Game of Our Life It’s a series of Mario x Homestuck Fics I wrote before Undertale came along and swept me away XD I love all my fics of course but this one was the first really big one I finished on english and it was the one I am most proud of of the world-building. It has angst, it has lore, my writing style was just really developing there and I am just proud of it. (Also it’s very self-indulging so yeah XD love it a LOT)

Hey so, you played DeltaRune right? What was your first impression on the main cast? i.e. raslei, lancer, Susie, Kris.
Oh fucketh yes thou kindeth basterd, let thine doith this.
Alright, so imma talk about the game and new characters, and if you would like, send asks on the undertale cast, and how they changed, because i would love to talk about that! I would also love to talk about theories for both Deltarune and Undertale! Do send asks! Now lets begin:
*ahem*
I was NOT expecting it to be this long for what I thought was a free demo
I loved ALL the characters this time. I didn't think I'd like Susie and Lancer much, but they grew to be my favourite characters of the story this time.
Also, I knew Deltarune was an anagram of Undertale, but I went through the entire goddamn game without realizing that Ralsei was an anagram for Asriel. Yes, I'm stupid.
I really like the new party battle mechanics! I didn't use the fight option, but still.
I wasn't able to find part B of the key that would unlock that mysterious cell in the prison. Did anyone else find it?
This was a very easy game to get a Pacifist run in, and I got the good ending straightaway! Seemingly.
SEEMINGLY.
WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?!?
Still here? Cool lets go
So, some interesting points and thoughts I had about the game and characters, and other things and tropes I noticed:
Ascended Meme: Toriel mentions that Kris and Asriel enjoy playing Super Smashing Fighters, a clear Shout-Out to the Super Smash Bros. franchise. At the time of the release of Deltarune Chapter 1, a popular meme was that Sans would be confirmed as a character for the then-upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Anti-Frustration Features: Should you make at least three unsuccessful attempts to clear either timed-tile puzzle, Ralsei will offer a hint on how to solve them
Attack! Attack! Attack!: Susie's main method of fighting: She'll keep attacking enemies and won't listen to Kris. Fortunately, she gets better during the final dungeon. Perhaps this is how she was raised?
Awesome, but Impractical: The Top Cake heals your entire party for 160 HP, but your entire party only has 90, 110 and 70 HP anyway and can't be increased at all. Furthermore, giving the Top Cake back to the Top Chef makes him give you the Spin Cake, which, while only restoring 80 HP, is unlimited and any encounter that isn't a Boss fight will probably not shave off your entire HP.
One thing that annoys me with the game is that Lv can’t increase, but we will get back to that later
Bait-and-Switch: A lot of the plot details are set up in a similar fashion to the previous game, only to subvert expectations.
Susie threatens Kris early on and is a berserker who attacks monsters on sight and doesn't care about the quest she's nominally on, much like a No Mercy run from the previous game, but she refrains from killing anyone and ultimately makes a Heel–Face Turn.
Lancer is similar in both a recurring antagonist role and has a skeletal appearance with a blue color scheme, which might lead players to believe he has a connection with Sans and Papyrus from the previous game; he and his father turn out to just be Darkners who resemble skeletons and have no apparent connection with Sans and Papyrus at all.
A mysterious doorframe appears early on and savvy players (or fandom nerds) might expect them to tie into Gaster as they did in the previous game. They end up being a fast travel system (which is lame).
Lastly, there's Lancer's dad, the King, who might look like a Suspiciously Similar Substitute for Asgore, right down to one of the people close to him trying to persuade both you and him not to fight (Undyne for Asgore, Lancer for the King). However, when you actually encounter the King, not only does he threaten to throw Lancer off a roof if the Lighteners don't kneel before him, he also tricks Ralsei into bringing him to full health so he has them at their mercy again. He ends up being defeated by Ralsei putting him to sleep while Kris and Susie escape, or captured by Lancer when he turns his own troops on him.
Big Door: There's a large bunker-style door built into the landscape in the forest to the south of town. Locked, unfortunately.
One of the encounters can be resolved peacefully by getting Ralsei to sing a lullaby, which also puts Susie to sleep. This later turns out to be the key to peacefully resolving the fight with Susie and Lancer. It comes up again in the "bad" ending to the King fight, where Susie notes that while she can't take the King down, Ralsei can. Susie: “I'd never forget something I made fun of you for.”
Similarly, Susie attacks automatically during the first battle with Lancer (who can't be killed), which is an early hint to the player that Susie attacks on her own and you'll have to prevent her from doing damage if you want a pacifist run.
Cliffhanger: The chapter ends with Kris (most likely being controlled) pulling out their/the player's SOUL, shoving it in a cage, and drawing a knife, at which point Kris's eyes glow red like Frisk's do if Chara's permanently corrupted your save after a genocide playthrough back in Undertale. This ending felt like a punch to the gut, and gave me so many questions to ask. Also, in the final scene, you can control the SOUL while it's in the birdcage. It won't change the outcome.
Lancer appears to be this for most of the initially-bad guy cast of Undertale, possessing a Sans-like color scheme, Papyrus's kid-brother nature and general enthusiasm for "evil," and Alphys's emotional attachment to the Big Bad.
Kris seems to be a hybridization of Frisk and Chara: their face, skin color and silent nature lean more towards the former, while their clothes and relation to the Dreemurr family (especially Asriel) scream of the later. Of course, after what happens in the ending, who knows how the three are connected? But here is something people have forgotten about, since I haven’t seen anything on it, but Kris looks exactly like the unused Frisk sprite, besides the sweater
Even if you go out of your way to beat encounters by force, enemies just get knocked off-screen. Contrast with Undertale and its infamous Genocide/No Mercy route.
After you beat the game and it closes itself, restarting shows Ralsei's legend as the intro and provides a new background for the file select screen.
Susie's hair is wild and covers her eyes, symbolizing her wild and violent outcast vibe. After the fight with the King, it's cut to reveal her eyes, and she becomes a lot more expressive and open with her emotions from them on.
All main characters are this, or have a Face Framed in Shadow. Them revealing their faces is usually a big deal.
Kris and Susie's outfits change when they fall into the dark world. Kris also becomes more blue in appearance, while Susie becomes more pink.
On the walk home, talking to numerous characters heavily hints that something is up with Kris. Numerous people refer to them as "creepy", or "quiet", and Noelle notes that they're usually quite distant from others. The game implies that Kris was being possessed by the player ala the first game
Ralsei makes direct reference to interface elements and controls as part of his tutorial-giver role. This leads to an amusing moment in the first block puzzle, as this trope doesn't apply to Susie.
Susie: (Who the hell is "[Z]"?)
Susie's solo fight against Lancer parallels the first game's fight against Toriel in a number of ways. In both cases, the foe is a family member of the king that guards the protagonist's way back home, and they're trying to prevent the protagonist from meeting the king in order to avoid bloodshed. Once the fight goes on for long enough, the foe starts attacking exclusively by dropping projectiles from above that are guaranteed to miss, showing their reluctance to fight someone they'd started growing close to.
This chapter has a lighter tone than all of Undertale. The game mechanics are more focused on solving puzzles and befriending enemies than fighting, and no one can die, even if you DO decide to attack all your enemies.
After returning from the World of Darkness, talking to several of the NPCs imply that Kris isn't acting like themselves. Noelle comments on how Kris is really talkative compared to normal, Noelle's dad implies Kris has forgotten things that they should know, the hospital clerk comments on how Kris isn't normally so bad at playing piano, and Kris in general seems a lot less "creepy" to the townspeople.
After arriving at the fountain, Kris and Susie find themselves back at the school, in a room with a chess board, playing cards, and some toys that look like the characters they encountered. But both of them remember what happened, and it's left ambiguous as to whether it really was just a dream or not.
If you have the Spooky Sword equipped, your "weapon" upon leaving the dark world will be the Halloween Pencil, leading to more questions.
If you follow the Jevil sidequest plot to its conclusion, mentions of The Queen are made, as well as Seam describing the event that drove Jevil insane as "Dark yet Darker" adding even heavier implications to Gaster's presence in the future story.
If one talks to Rouxls Kaard after starting his first puzzle, he will verbatim quote I. M. Meen. (Also Rouxls Kaard, thou art must marrith me)
When Burgerpants talks about his fellow pizzeria employees, he mentions a "Purple Guy" and wonders if he even works there.
Ralsei removing his hat and hood at the end, revealing that he looks exactly like Asriel. Judging by Susie's reaction, this is one both in and out of universe.
Right at the end of Chapter 1. Kris is tossing and turning in the middle of the night, when they jump out of bed and start walking around very slowly. They then stop in the middle of the room and pull their own soul out of their body, before throwing it into the birdcage from earlier. They then turn their head around slowly, revealing Chara's trademark smile and glowing red eye, before materializing a knife out of nowhere. Anyone who's played Undertale (so most of people playing this game, as it was recommended to those who already played Undertale) should have some very horrific guesses about what this mean
The King grabs Lancer's throat when he finds out that they let the heroes get away

Deltarune asks
Did you ever end up going back to do the card suite puzzle in Deltarune? Just so you know, if you didn’t you can still go back to do that since the last save in the game is before you fight King. I’d recommend checking the prison elevator again before doing that though.
I haven’t gotten around to it yet, or replaying the game in general. That’s a good point about the save, thank you!
As for the prison elevator: Since finishing the game, I’ve been hanging out in the Deltarune channel on Lore’s Discord server, where I found out about Jevil. I’ve heard he claims he “can do anything”, is based on some clown stickers, and I found out yesterday how you find him. Apparently his fight is supposed to be pretty good, making up for some of the flaws in the King fight? That’s definitely another thing I want to check out, yeah.
After reading your Deltarune post, I'm so upset that you didn't mention Kris's soul getting sent to the Birdcage at the end.
Pfft! I certainly missed an opportunity there, yeah. :p
Maybe I would’ve made that joke if I had been in less of an “I just want to finish the game and go to bed” state of mind at that point. And in more of a Worm mindset.
"Heroes of Light? I don’t know, I don’t think I’d peg either of them as having that aspect." Foreshadowing the tweest ending much? Heroes of Light have a certain, ha, 'passion' for not losing.
Hehe.
Y’know, if the theory I’ve seen going around about Kris ripping their own soul out to stop us from stealing their agency and their story is right, I could actually see that as having to do with the Light aspect. I’m not sure what class it’d be, though. Maybe that reflects more on the player than on Kris, making us Vriskas Thieves of Light.
You know what did foreshadow the ending, though, that I totally called? The character overview specifying that Kris’s body contained a human soul.
Toby Fox had some things to say about Deltarune you may or may not want to read: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sqn3p9
Alright, let’s see what the Fox has to say:
1. "Is this a sequel? What's going on?? I'm scared..." Please don't worry too much about that. Actually, I'm worried if people worry too much about "what it is," they might not be able to properly enjoy it... (laugh) I will say that basically, what you're seeing here is not the world of UNDERTALE. UNDERTALE's world and ending are the same as however you left them. If everyone was happy in your ending, the people in the UNDERTALE world will still be happy. So, please don't worry about those characters, and that world. It will remain untouched. To rephrase that, DELTARUNE's world is a different one. With different characters, that have lived different lives. A whole new story will happen... I don't know what you call this kind of game. It's just a game you can play after you complete UNDERTALE, if you want to. That's all.
...alright, fair enough. I don’t trust that it’s not connected, especially through Sans (metanarrative timeline agent that he is) and maybe Chara, but it does seem to be an alternate world.
2. "I have questions I want to ask about the story..." There's a lot of questions I'd like to answer, too. That's why I have to make the game. Please wait until then.
A game dev’s equivalent of Robert Jordan’s “read and find out”.
3. "When will the next chapter come out?" This is a difficult question. When I made the demo of UNDERTALE, I made it to prove to myself that it was possible to make a whole game alone (with some help with the art). Because I was able to make it in a few months, I felt that I had proved that it was possible. However, making the demo of DELTARUNE... took a few years. So, given the length of the rest of the game, and how long I'd be willing to spend on a project (7 years maximum) I think the answer is that it's actually impossible to make this game.
I wonder how many people he’s working with. Maybe that’s the solution to this issue, to outsource some of the work to people he trusts.
Lots of things make this game harder to make than the last time. - The graphics are much more complicated and don't play to my strengths (black and white battle graphics were easy...) - The battle system is much more complicated due to multiple characters (I'll write about this later) - The overworld and other sections are more complicated due to multiple characters - Having multiple main characters is much harder to write especially introducing everyone properly in chapter 1 - The entire town had to be created correctly on the first try to set up properly for the rest of the game And further things outside of those: - Trouble starting tasks/concentrating and general difficulty paying attention - Travelling / other responsibilities like translation/ports - Self-doubt / burnout regarding the creation of the game Essentially it's not possible to make this game as one person (and Temmie).
Oh jeez, it’s only him and Temmie Chang?
Also, “Trouble starting tasks/concentrating and general difficulty paying attention” sounds like ADHD to me. I can relate heavily to this point.
However, it MIGHT be possible to create the game if I'm able to make a team. So I'm going to try making a team. Because I really want to make this. But I may not be able to succeed because I have no experience successfully directing a team and I have no idea who I'm going to work with.
Yes, good. That sounds a lot healthier.
I’m sure he can do it. In a pinch, I know he knows people who can probably give him pointers on team leadership, too, over at What Pumpkin.
Since I haven't started assembling the team yet I have absolutely no estimation of its completion. It could take up to 999 years depending on the efficiency level. By the way, I currently plan to release all of the chapters at once after we complete them. I'm not sure how long that will take. You'll buy all of the chapters at once as one purchase. That'll be the only option. I'm not doing pre-orders because I don't like those. It just seems like the best way not to burn anybody. Price is unknown. It depends on how long the game is, and how much it costs to make... I don't know anything about what consoles, etc. it'll come out for because by the time it comes out we might be on Playstation 14 or something. So... in short, I have no idea.
That’s all very fair.
4. "Is this the game's final design? Will you change anything?" It's possible I could change things. This is basically a demo. I might even change this first chapter before release depending on how development goes. This is really an excuse to talk about the parts I think had issues. THE BATTLE SYSTEM: I think the battle system could be explained better. I had a super duper long explanation of things here but really it boils down to: 1. UT's system is incompatible with multiple party members but I wanted to do it anyway because it's cool 2. I'd like to make it so for pacifist players, characters won't have to "defend" so much Oh. The people who tested the game thought that the TP system and animations were cool so it's not all bad. By the way, did you notice that getting close to bullets makes enemy attacks end faster? It doesn't work for every attack, but...
I didn’t notice that detail, but I do appreciate the way it adds to TP without having to defend. But I found myself defending a lot anyway just because it was the only thing there was much point in doing with the characters in question sometimes.
I do feel like there wasn’t enough to use the TP for, but that seems like something that might change as the characters develop more skills over the course of the full game.
EVERYTHING ELSE: I thought everything else was OK. Actually some parts were kind of lazy, like finding the key pieces, but oh well. The UI had some things that could be changed too. When making a game, there's so much to do you have to draw the line somewhere. That's why I need other people to help me (laugh) Oh, and I have no plans to add more content to the first chapter.
5. "Will there be multiple endings?" No. No matter what you do the ending will be the same. (Honestly most games are like that, but for some reason it feels really oppressive to say here...) I think that's part of the reason why the ACT / FIGHT system feels so vestigial in this one. Oh... I'm just talking about the battle system again...
Toby sounds a lot like Napstablook in this thing.
A single ending, huh? Interesting, considering the contrasts between Deltarune and Undertale regarding whether your choices matter and whether fighting is sometimes necessary, and the fact that Ralsei explicitly asks you to do a pacifist run.
6. "I found some kind of bug, will you fix it?" Hopefully an e-mail for that exists on the website by now. Or, it would be better if you could tweet it with #deltarunebug . That would really help us and make our lives easier because tweets are easier to ignore than e-mails
Ahaha!
7. "Can I be on the team?" I'll ask you first!!! (Total silence)
The humor is picking up here. :p
8. "What's the progress on the rest of the game so far?" 0%!!! Nothing!!! I've done nothing!!! I mean, I've done some songs and written the whole story, but... Since no programming or final art has been done, it's best to just think of it at 0%. 9. "Will you do a Kickstarter?" I still haven't finished that damn Alarm Clock, are you kidding me? There's no way I'm doing a Kickstarter this time.
I assume he’s referencing a pledge reward from the Kickstarter for Undertale (that was how I first found out about Undertale, actually, though I then forgot about it until it came out) that hasn’t panned out, or something like that.
10. "The game doesn't work" / "I don't like the game" / "Will there be a version for (platform)?" Because it's a free download I'm surrounded by a forcefield that destroys all complaints and platform requests. There might be more platforms for the DEMO but I don't want to make any promises. (At the very least it'd be nice to do something for the people who bought the game on console.) By the way at the time of writing I haven't even rendered a Mac version whatsoever at all. I hope I can release it... (laugh)
I have a friend who was unable to play the game himself because (as far as I can recall) he’s on a Mac. But yeah, this is fair.
11. "Can I buy the soundtrack for Chapter 1?" Yes! You can buy it at [ http://tobyfox.bandcamp.com ] And other forms of distribution will be in the works too. I'm writing this in the past so I don't know what I just said. 12. "Any closing remarks?" (No one asks this, but...) Thanks for playing my game. I hope you liked it. For the past 3 years I've been waking up in the middle of the night unable to go back to sleep because I've been thinking about the scenes that happen in the game. Even though so many details are still hazy, I really want to show you the things I've been thinking about. That's really my only reason for making this game. If I don't show you what I'm thinking, I'll lose my mind. (It was actually a totally selfish motivation...)
...interesting. Looks like we’re in for a ride when the full game comes.
Not that I was really doubting that.
By the way, I was really worried at first about making this. The expectations for my next work would be really high, so high that I knew that no matter what I did, I felt like people would be underwhelmed. If you played "UNDERTALE," I don't think I can make anything that makes you feel "that way" again. However, it's possible I can make something else. It's just something simple but maybe you'll like it. See you in ?? years... OK? Don't forget.
My audience probably won’t believe me if I say I won’t, due to my history of bad memory, but I don’t think I will.
And yeah. Especially when you’re connecting it to Undertale and its characters, people are going to compare the two. But even if Deltarune isn’t quite the same hit as Undertale was, it’ll be worth it, I’m sure.

Theory About The Bermuda Triangle And Half Of Humanity’s Heritage ...and talk about Vampires and other stuff.
first I want to say that I feel better,
but I’m still peeved at the sources who dare to hurt some people.
well besides that, the other day, I was watching something Youtube,
about Vampires....and well it showed each video about some people
who showed Vampire Traits...
there was even these two boys, who look like they might of been I don’t know not that mature yet, but they were acting like vampires and they were being monsters, and there was these boys who were in a car picking on a guy outside, who was just walking, but things went too far...
and well the video had showed clips of people showing Vampire like Traits.
I get that can happen in some movies or video games or even in books,
but if those videos were real, and those people were real vampires.
there is better ways to feed, such as one, DON’T make someone a victim.
that might be fine in fictional movies or video games, but at least in half of the fictional entertainment, they have a vampire that becomes very well liked and shows a good side to vampires.
and let me be clear, no what I had seen on those videos about Vampires,
had nothing to do why I was not in a good mood on June 19, 2021.
it had to do with something else I found out about on Youtube.
but anyway I felt not happy and mad at what the two so called vampire boys were doing....and it did not help the cases of the other vampires in the video.
my pendulum could be joking about me having vampire heritage.
but still, if I had any the strength they had....
I would use it for good and try not to let it over take me if I was able to.
like I know I can get pretty mad too, but I don’t think it ever came out like how half of those guys were showing.
I don’t ever want to drink blood though.
I’m not sure if the whole garlic thing is true though,
plus I love garlic sauce, so I’m never gonna give that up.
if it is true that vampires are real in real life,
and some humans do have vampire heritage,
then it’s important to not let it get out of hand or over take you,
no matter if you get really thirsty, DO NOT ATTACK.
if there was a vampire and human that fell in love,
and the vampire had to feed, then they should ask the consent of their human life-partner.
if the whole biting might be too much for them,
it’s best to find different means, like how they get blood donators.
also I had learned something,
NEVER go without eating first, and then have your blood be checked.
I’m glad that me and my family found out there is a different way to check on what blood type you are,
and it might be a while before I can find out what type I am.
but with each blood that was taken from me, I started to feel...
not so great, if I had to describe it, it was like that time when it felt like I was gonna faint.
I think it was the same feeling too.
which was a sign I needed food.
I’m not sure if I have a fear of blood, and I’m sure if I had something to eat first,
then I wouldn’t of ended up feeling like that when my finger was being poked.
I’m sure it was just a coincidence that seem to happen again.
the last time it happen, my cat had scratch me and drew a bit of blood.
we did use that alcohol stuff on it, the scratch I mean...not my second cat.
but at some point I did start to feel not so great, and it was a feeling like I was gonna faint.
I think my Mom did imply that I might have a fear of blood.
but that can’t be it right...?
and my pendulum giving a Yes to that question, has got to be a prank.
I mean sure seeing blood might make anyone uncomfortable.
and might be okay seeing it in video games.
anyway I will get back to that maybe after I talk about this...
I have a theory about the Bermuda Triangle, and I wouldn’t be surprised if others came to this same theory.
that the Bermuda Triangle......has a space ship.
and it carried half of humanity’s ancestors on it.
the other half possibly still being originally from Earth.
I’m not 100% sure about the theory that popped into my head,
about how it was the ship that killed all the dinosaurs.
but let’s put that in the maybe box.
let’s say it is true, that when the ship did come to Earth a VERY very super long time ago, the crash was too much and it caused the dinosaurs to be killed.
but other than that, I still think there is some possibility that the Bermuda Triangle is home to a space ship that possibly carried half of humanity’s ancestors.
I mean even if there is some debate about how humans really came into being.
trying to argue about it being either through miracle or science type way.
but I have to say, both could be correct.
I mean humans weren’t truly the ones to have science first,
we can look at our own creation of being born as first souls and then being placed into new vessels as both miracle and science.
some people don’t believe in Magic either,
but magic can depend on how well you can master it
or how much power you have of the magic that is in your soul.
I love both Undertale and Deltarune,
and in theory, the Monsters in Undertale might be a bit wrong about how they view humans who can’t seem to do magic.
not everyone is gonna be able to do the same type of magic.
I can’t wait until Chapter 2 of Deltarune, I mean I can...
but you know what I mean right?
wait....when I was asking about the whole vampire heritage,
was it saying Yes to the type of vampires that are rumored to turn into bats,
or the whole succubus type vampires...?
aren’t succubus still a type of vampire in a way?
okay I had checked and got a no on my pendulum,
so it had nothing to do with the whole succubus thing.
but no matter if it is a prank or not
(and sometimes I do get prank from my pendulum.)
I still want to play it safe and always have that dream-catcher to protect me,
I do not wish to dream walk into someone else’s dreams.
and I’m always gonna have those angel shaped gems under my pillow
to protect me from incubus.
I wonder if a creep away bat would work on a incubus?
anyway, I still think it is possible that the place where funny stuff happen,
that is the bermuda triangle, might be home to a lost space ship.
and yeah I believe that aliens are real,
I don’t believe that earthlings are the only ones with life.
I mean why would we be the only creations?
it’s okay that not many believe this,
and some might be say “how can you believe that kind of thing,
when your a Ma-Acolyte & Neo-Christian.”
dude, that is stereotyping.
of course toxic-religious people who make others feel bad,
like that one person who kept misusing those words on me
and making me feel really bad.
just because I believe in a Goddess too, and that my gender identity is like Female/Nonbinary (my bio-sex is female.), don’t give them the right to do that, even after I said how bad it was making me feel.
I know that not all people who are religious will end up becoming like that person.
I mean I love Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel, and I don’t see anything wrong with it.
I also like the Grim Adventurers of Billy & Mandy, and Nightmare Before Christmas.
and even Bendy & The Ink Machine.
plus you can make scary fun video games and still be Christian or another religion.
also just because Donut from Red Vs Blue acts a bit feminine,
doesn’t make him less of a man.
only REAL men wear pink.....and use a pink straw.
yeah I saw something on Youtube about it, about the whole pink straw.....
but I didn’t click on it or even watch it yet.
but only a real man would drink out of a pink straw, just like how a real man would wear pink.
so how is it okay for only women to wear blue but not men...?
even Steven Universe wears Pink, and his Mom is like Pink Diamond.
plus it’s good for men to have a feminine side, and the whole feminine doesn’t always mean the bio-sex and binary.
it be just as bad as some guy decided, that he wouldn’t let his girlfriend have a blue straw, and instead gives her a pink straw instead.
and even if it does turn out the word “Femboy” can also be uses as a insult,
it can also be used in a positive way, like I’m hoping as a type of identity.
not all identities are gonna be the same, and I think it is possible my bigender identity could go from Gyno-Agender to Feminine-Nonbinary.
I would still like to go by she/her, but I think I will be fine with them/they too.
I think that this will 100% be the last post, at least until July.
I will post again on here around July.
still not happy with what I had found out before.
but at least I got some good news today.
I’m in love with the Arackniss series,
it’s by AxelGear, I have thoughts about hoping they also put those videos
on newgrounds (not for little kids).......ya know because of the whole you can only trust Youtube so much, with what some Toxic-Youtubers are doing, but I will talk about that problem another time...
for now I’m just gonna be happy with it being on Youtube.
right now I think I should wait before I re-watch or catch up to some I missed.
in one of the audio episodes, I wont say which one...
one of the characters did mention Jesus.
is it weird to not know how to think when either someone uses his name
in either a form of conversation like talking about his life,
or like when someone uses it in the other way, which is at times in form of vain.
what’s weird is that he is technically family, so it’s like anyone who says his name in well the whole vain thing, they are kind of doing that to family.
and I’m not talking about the whole soul or spiritual family thing,
I mean he is LITERALLY biologically family.
(well according to some info.)
because of the whole sharing the same ancestor King David.
I still think it is a blessing to be Solomon’s descendant,
cause it means I will never take that throne.
never want to sit on that....EVER.
yeah he is a descendant of King David too,
and it is obviously from his mother’s side.
sadly we can’t figure out how we are distant cousins.
and be we, I mean me and my family.
all we know is that he is a descendant of King David too.
so like if Jesus’s name is used in any type of from in some show or movie or video game, doesn’t it go from being insulting, to a mix of being kind of awkward.
anyway, I do love the Arackniss Audio series.
it is of course NOT for kids, and if parents knew any level of responsibility
then they will stop blaming the content and start blaming themselves and try to improve themselves as parents.
firstly, get your own child their own computer,
but use some kind of child lock that will keep your child from looking at stuff they are not the proper age for.
also if your sign in on Youtube,
go to the settings and turn on the restricted mode.
I did try to check on Youtube on the computer, but it seems I will need to be sign in for that.
when I’m signed on the Xbox, it seems that while not signed on to Youtube on the Xbox (even if I’m sign on Xbox.) it will let me open up the settings on the Youtube.
even if Youtube still have it’s good side, it is still a bit broken because of the Toxic-Youtubers....which I will explain bout that later.
if Arackniss got reincarnated as a female, I think Penny (Sir Pentious)
would still love him, or her if Arackniss ended up going by their new bio-sex’s pronouns.
the reason I say this,
is because of the possibility Penn might end up being bisexual.
but even if it says he May be bi, it isn’t shown on his bio just yet,
or the name of his crush.
also a very VERY weird thought pop into my head.
like if I had a crush on Husk, would that be something like cougarsexual.
(do not misinterpret that, just please....look up the meaning of cougar besides a animal being named that.)
I know that “cougar” normally has to do with a much older woman.
I guess if I do have any form of crush on Husk, Arackniss, Pentious, Alastor
and Angel.
those crushes would be like something like.....
if women are called the cougars, then what would the men be called...?
besides sexuality and asexuality, I hope we do end up seeing more of gender identities.
but yeah some time I should look it up, to see if there is a opposite to the whole cougar thing.
I’m pretty sure that Angel had zinged with Husk, even if it might be one sided right now.
and the craziest theory I have, is that he possibility that Adam and Eve,
came from the space ship that now makes up the bermuda triangle.
like what if Eden was a place that was not on Earth,
but still had some connection to each other.
and when Adam and Eve were kicked out, they were given a space ship and send to Earth.
okay maybe that theory might not be correct.
but it is still possible that there is some form of stories about the history of humankind that we only know half being true.
and even if it’s okay that not many agree about it,
I’m starting to believe there is that possibility that the bermuda triangle has a space ship that belong to some human looking beings who make up part of our heritage.
of course I believe that the whole angels and demons being real.
as well as there being a Divine Heavenly Mother, who rules over a version of Heaven that is a “Earth-Heaven” having trees and grass.
but not everyone has to agree about that.
some time I will talk more about the whole there being a space ship over the bermuda triangle theory.
I’m gonna just hurry up and post this,

I think you know who I’m gonna say. But if you feel like you’re getting repetitive then Susie
Clearly, you were referring to any character but Spade King, right? It's obvious you want me to choose any other character :D (<- sarcasm lol).
I'll stat with Spade King first and see if I can think of anything new to say then I'll go to Susie :>.
S P A D E S
First, I just want to complain about there not being any Spade King-centric merch on Fangamer yet. I got merch centered around ALL OF MY OTHER TOP 5 FAV DELTARUNE CHARACTERS (besides Rouxls) for crying out loud, I want some Spade King merch! Make a plush of him or something, first his character design is PERFECT for one of those, and second, it would be cute to pair him up with Lancer that way. Maybe there could be both plushies at a slight discount! At the VERY least Fangamer should give out Spade King merch on Father's Day because fathers. I don't care if Spade King isn't "popular" enough for merch, people are GUARANTEED to love it no matter how unpopular he is. I just want my Spade King merch man >:/.
Ok enough whining lol, time to talk about all the kings! I have this goofy idea in my mind where there was constant bickering & whining amongst all the kings when they ruled together. And it's not even bickering about important issues, it's silly things like "what's better choco diamonds or hearts donuts"/"which head of King of Clubs is the most annoying"/"how to pronounce this random word", things like that! Imagining this with how all the kings speak (or don't lol) makes it even funnier too, it would be hilarious to see the King of Hearts arguing with random hand gestures and so on. And NONE of the kings can agree with one another, they all OBVIOUSLY have the right opinion. Idk, I just think it's goofy :).
Something less funny and more adorable is the idea of Spade King's cape doubling as a blanket for Lancer sometimes. I mean, think of all Dark Worlds having seasons! We don't know if that's a thing, but imagine it is. I like to think that during the colder seasons--autumn and winter--Lancer needs extra insulation during the night because he's SMOL. Hence, Spade King's cape! I would think Spade King doesn't get cold super easily, so him giving up his cape temporarily wouldn't be a major issue for him. It's just a cute idea and I had to throw Lancer in here somehow lol.
I know I mentioned my headcannon of Spade King being a coffee addict, but a recent other headcannon popped in where Lancer accidentally drank coffee once due to not knowing what it was. Kid just saw his father's cup of coffee, thought "yeah I'll drink this" & did just that lol. Coffee and Lancer don't mix, that child is gonna be bouncing off the walls aaall day & Spade King will see that, go "heck no I'm not doing this", & make Rouxls watch over Lancer. Well, that or Lancer straight-up doesn't drink the coffee after one sip because it's too bitter for him. Either option works lol.
I want to bring this headcannon of mine up because I see SO many people claim otherwise; I don't think Spade King swears unless he's INCREDIBLY emotional, mostly just anger-emotional. The amount of people I see who think Spade King would swear every other sentence is OBSCENELY big, and I don't agree with this at all. If this were the case, Spade King would have already canonically said A LOT more than only "piss", which even then, the line that word is in was referencing what Susie told Kris at the beginning of Chapter 1. Also, we know for a fact Lancer is practically prohibited from swearing at all, which further proves my point. Spade King is not the swearing type, and I doubt he'll ever be like that. I would argue this isn't even a HEAD-cannon and is actually canonical to his character, but still. Either way, swearing is EXTREMELY minimal.
Spade King has a hidden stash of cashews underneath his--well, not really his anymore lol--throne. That's it, that is all there is.
I've had a lot of ideas on how Lancer got his bike, practically all of which involve Spade King as the one to give said bike. I still stand by that, but something else to add is this: What is Lancer's bike actually USED to be Spade King's bike when he was younger? The bike would have most likely had to be fixed up quite a bit, but still! It could hold a new special meaning for the bike as a whole. Heck, maybe this is part of why Lancer takes such good care of it, what with literally putting the bike in bed and all. Just a sweet li'l thought :).
Last thing for Spade King! I hold the belief that he was raised VERY strictly, and wasn't allowed to do a lot of things. Maybe the other kings had more lenient upbringings, making Spade King jealous/envious of them. Perhaps this is why Lancer has such loose guidelines in terms of what he can do on his own time. It's still a bit strict in some areas of course--one example is Lancer having to be home by a certain time to eat--but in terms of general free time, it's practically limitless for him.
Dang, I did have a lot of fresh Spade King ideas after all! I guess the ideas never stop with this guy. Anyway, onto Susie!

I think the most rational place to start with Susie is her character development! I LOVE the direction Susie is heading, what with becoming more open with others & overall less of a bully/outcast. It's crazy how good her dynamic is with other characters after two, I repeat TWO, canonical in-game days. TWO DAYS! I don't know ANYONE who can change that drastically in two days. Keep it up Susie!
Now for something depressing, every post like this has to have at least one depressing section. I remember how I shared the belief that Susie will warm up to Spade King by the end of Deltarune, but I don't see that being feasible now. Susie is growing as a character, but I don't think she'll get to the point where she's willing to see Spade King as little more than a sworn enemy. If anything, she will at most TOLERATE Lancer beginning to get along with his father again, even if we barely see that happen. I think a big part of why Susie seems to have a more intense hatred for Spade King compared to others is because of his threat to kill Lancer. Even though Spade King explicitly states that was a bluff and Lancer would (allegedly) have been fine, Susie flat-out refuses to accept that. I doubt Susie's mad at Spade King for what he did to HER, it's because of what he did to LANCER. Pretty sad to think about ngl, though we'll have to see how the game progresses.
Speaking of Lancer, I would gush about he & Susie's friendship--I gotta bring this up every time I mention Susie, it's the law--but this post is super long already and I don't have anything really fresh to say in this regard. Just know I still love this duo and their friendship and if anything happens to said friendship I will start a literal war :D!
Susie & Berdly's dynamic is hilarious. Then again, Berdly is hilarious in general. That's about it. It's just funny.
I'm personally intrigued by Susie's backstory and what her family life is like! I don't have tons of ideas in this regard but I doubt it's super positive. I imagine her and Spade King have similar familial/parental backgrounds, but who knows! I hope this sort of stuff is revealed later :).
I think that's it for Susie, I ironically don't have too much to say on her lol. Still, it's nice to cover different characters sometimes! Maybe I should ask for random character prompts more often :>.

All righty, here is the Deltarune Chapter 2 tier list...you may notice the list is quite shorter for this chapter. I'll explain why.
I'll be honest with y'all, I don't have strong opinions on the majority of the more major Chapter 2 characters, so putting most characters in a tier list didn't make a lot of sense to me. Besides, I can't remember if some characters had actual dialogue outside of their battles, and if you read through my Chapter 1 tier list HERE, you'd see that was one of my rules. So...yeah, sorry if you were expecting a bit more...most of the characters I have strong opinions on are from Chapter 1, not Chapter 2.
Oh, by the way, the reason no characters are on the "S" tier is because that tier is reserved for Lancer and King only. It is a truly special tier reserved for the best of the best. The reason no characters are on the "D" tier is because I don't have severely negative opinions about any characters listed. Anyway, here we go!
Also if you want to know my rules check out my Chapter 1 tier list, I don't feel like repeating them here :P.
Starting off with the "A" tier...
Character #1: Swatch. Swatch! I LOVE Swatch. He's an exception to my "has dialogue during a battle and outside of battle" rule because he...doesn't fight in a battle, lol. But I'm including him in this list anyway because I love this guy. Definitely my favorite character introduced in Chapter 2. His personality is somehow so funny to me, even though it's not intended to be. His implied interactions with Rouxls Kaard are honestly one of the most hilarious aspects of this chapter in my opinion. Seriously, what's not to love about Swatch?
Character #2: Berdly. Now, I know I said in my Berdly Deltarune bingo post HERE that I'm not super invested in Berdly, but compared to almost every other Chapter 2 character, he is way up there. I do like Kris and Susie more, but Berdly is a very respectable character and has a lot going for him. He has improved by a fair amount already and has tons of potential. I can definitely see me liking Berdly a lot more as time passes.
Character #3: Swatchling. Swatchlings are neat! I love how they come in different colors, and their personality is another one of my favorites, though that's mostly because it's a lot like Swatch's. I don't really have a lot to say about Swatchlings. But I do like them a lot! They were fun to encounter, and I honestly like them almost as much as Rudinns.
Character #4: Spamton. Ah, the man himself...Spamton G. Spamton. The one every single Deltarune fan is fanatic over. And honestly, I can certainly see why. Pretty much everything about Spamton is unique and well-executed. I've recently begun to like Spamton quite a bit, though I won't be posting about him all the time, I can assure you that. If I had made this same tier list several months ago, Spamton would have been near the bottom, but I've really been trying to appreciate the little man, and I think I can confidently say I am a bit of a Spamton fan myself! Good character!
I can imagine I'm making some of you lose brain cells now.
Character #1: Tasque Manager. Honestly, when I first began making this tier list, I forgot about Tasque Manager. But boy, I am glad I made this tier list, because I forgot how decent of a character she is. Her connection with Jevil is one of the most interesting aspects of Chapter 2 in my opinion...it brings a lot of questions to my mind regarding how the Dark Worlds work. Besides this, Tasque Manager is pretty good! I like how she assists the party in sparing the Mauswheel, and her desire for order is cool too. Not a bad character, though she can be a bit forgettable in my opinion.
Character(s) #2: Sweet Cap'n Cakes. I'm just going to group these guys together as my opinions are equal for all three of them. I really like how SCC are the opposite of Rudinns. They constantly protest the law and are quite rebellious, while the Rudinns simply go along with everything so they don't get imprisoned. It makes these characters more interesting in my opinion. They're all pretty friendly as well, and their dynamics with one another are very entertaining and fun to watch. Definitely decent characters!
Character #3: Addisons. Addisons are another exception to my "has dialogue during a battle and outside of battle" rule, and this is where my opinions will begin to be controversial: Addisons are overrated. Now, I am NOT saying Addisons are bad characters by any means. I personally simply don't understand the hype behind them. They have a connection to Spamton, but that's about it. They're regular NPCs beyond that. However, they are still interesting characters! I do like them, just not on the same degree as some Deltarune fans.
Oh boy...best get this over with.
Character #1: Queen. Like the Addisons, I do not dislike Queen. She is a decent character, and I find some aspects of her fairly interesting. However, I...don't understand the hype. This is going to be very controversial, but King is the better villain. Queen is...sort of a villain? In one scene she's traveling with Kris (you) in a car, and the next she's imprisoning everybody except Ralsei? Just...what? I don't understand...she's too fickle. Villains should be a clear-cut antagonist in my opinion. They shouldn't be sending mixed messages like Queen does. However, as much as I could complain about Queen, I again do not dislike her. I can...sort of see why people are into her, but yeah...I've never been a Queen fan, and likely never will.
Character #2: Noelle. How do I explain this...I view Noelle the same way I view Ralsei. Neither are bad characters, but because they are so popular and treasured amongst the Deltarune community, I automatically like and appreciate them less. Now, Noelle is not, I repeat, NOT a bad character! I truly do believe she has potential. But I simply can't fully bring myself to like her. I am truly trying, but I'm not there yet. Like several other characters I've mentioned before, I can understand the hype around Noelle. I hope I can learn to appreciate Noelle more as time goes on.
Character #3: Werewerewire. Werewerewire is all right. They, along with Werewire, certainly bring a unique concept to Darkners as a whole. The idea of being controlled by an outside force is honestly quite dark while also being intriguing. I like how the Werewerewires seem to be perfectionists and greatly dislike it when Kris spares them instead of beating them in a battle. Even though they don't speak, I wanted to include them on my list.
Character #4: Werewire. And the final character I'll be covering in this post is Werewire. Most of what I want to say about Werewires has already been said with the Werewerewires, but I do want to add one thing: The quote describing Werewires as "walking through a nightmare" is quite chilling to me. It implies they have no free will and are truly corrupted and controlled by a higher authority, presumably Queen. It does hint at Queen being more ruthless and villainous than she lets on, which is something I definitely like.
And that's everyone! I'll be posting the combined tier list of Chapters 1 & 2 tomorrow so you can more clearly see and understand where I personally rank all these characters. Hopefully you enjoyed, and thank you for reading :)!
Again, if I used the wrong pronouns for any character, I am using the pronouns from the wiki, so if I got any pronoun wrong, I am sorries :(.
Have a grand rest of your day ^-^!
