Scar was scapegoating this mf the entire time but Grian thought he was in charge, that he was saving this man over and over but it’s situations Scar put himself in on purpose. They hate that they have to be in each others company CONSTANTLY but they hate the silence more.

There’s so many interpretations where Grian’s in denial abt needing Scar but it’s true in reverse. Scar keeps having to convince himself that Grian’s expendable when he knows That’s Not True.

They wouldn’t hold hands or have a picnic (or other romantic gestures) but they find excuses to prove the other person needs them, they find reasons to make the other stay because they’re projecting.

“He’s expendable” “This is temporary” they both project this on the other. It’s a very toxic codependency that reinforces itself over and over because of the nature of the games, and I think it’s something they both realize in LL, but in different directions.

Scar misses it for all the wrong reasons and Grian is determined to never let it happen again.

Grian has shaky alliances all season long due to self sabotage, and Scar consistently tries to get someone else, Anyone Else into the same situation Grian was in. Not out of some power trip but to fill the void that left behind

Isaac was unusually silent, when they returned to their quarters.

On one hand, Hector was grateful for it. His head was killing him, and he was already looking forward to slam it on the bed and disappear from the world. And Isaac not talking... had become a bless, really. His temper and his eagerness to fight had been eroding Hector's stomach and patience.

On the other hand, his lack of temper that day was doing more or less the same. Ever since the very first day that redhead gangly boy had taken Hector by his wrist and dragged him around the laboratory, Isaac had always been a ball of energy, running his mouth about anything that caught his interest, flauting his skills and knowledge, joking, teasing, yelling, arguing, exploding.

The man who was walking beside him, a step back, eyes transfixed on his own feet, was not the Isaac that Hector knew.

He could ask him what was bothering him. He could plead him to please talk. But Hector, chewing his lip, decided it was not worth it. They were both grown men: Hector should not beg for a basic conversation. Isaac knew how to talk, and he knew how to do it better than him.

It did nothing against the constrictions in his chest. Even less did reaching the door of his bedroom.

"Goodnight," said Isaac, before giving him a kiss.

A short, simple kiss pressed on his lips, barely felt.

Hector was a hair's breadth away from shouting at him, doing anything to break the strange atmosphere between them, Isaac had begun to walk to his room and Hector couldn't--

"Wait, Isaac."

Isaac did not turn to face him, but at least he stopped.

"You're... are you..."

What could he ask? How can he justify himself? 'You didn't shove your tongue in my mouth or bite me and it concerns me'? Why wouldn't Isaac just talk to him? Why did Hector have to feel almost made fun of?

"I'm fine. Goodnight, Hector."

He took longer steps to get away from Hector faster.

Resigning himself to a sleepless night, Hector moved his hands to fix his collar... and then he noticed it, and his stomach dropped to his feet.

He had left it open. Or it had opened, somehow, during work. And right beneath it, Lord Dracula's newest bruise smarted, for all the castle to see.
