Nie Mingjue was no stranger to injury or pain. One could even say that he shared a close camaraderie with them both, first in his training as a boy and then during the war after he'd become a man, and even now still that it was all over and he was home. He'd been scuffed, cut, and bruised more times than he could count or even remember.

And yet, his didi treated them all as unique and meaningful events, no matter how large or small.

"Huaisang," Nie Mingjue groaned, throwing his head back. "It's not such a wound to fuss over. Leave me be; I'm busy."

Nie Huaisang spread the medicinal poultice over the nick in his thumb torturously slowly, as if he were punishing Nie Mingjue for his complaints. He looked up from where he was sitting on the floor next to Nie Mingjue's bed, and he blinked languidly, like he hadn't a single thought in his head.

Nie Mingjue knew better. Nie Huaisang had many thoughts in his head, and right now all of them were about how to best torment his poor da-ge, so that he couldn't get back to the letters that they needed to send off that day in regards to this year's cultivation conference.

"Da-ge, if you don't stop squirming, I might need to do it over." He smiled beatifically, but Nie Mingjue scowled. "Hm, I don't know, what do you think?"

"I think," Nie Mingjue said, trying for stern and trying not to laugh at all, "that you've already taken care of the problem. If you don't want to get some extra saber training, let me go."

"Da-ge!" Nie Huaisang sounded more scandalized at this than at the last conference in Lotus Pier where Wei Wuxian had, in either a fit of playfulness or demonic rage, shoved Nie Huaisang off one of the docks and into the water. "You can't have forgotten. There's still one more step I have to perform, otherwise you'll never heal properly."

Nie Mingjue raised an eyebrow, though he had a small inkling of what was to come. "Oh?"

Nie Huaisang raised Nie Mingjue's big, scarred hand right to his lips, then laid them over the injury. The kiss was light and tender, and Nie Mingjue's chest warmed despite his grouching.

"There! Now you're sure to heal well." As if it weren't a tiny little cut... And then, a moment later, Nie Huaisang's face twisted. "Blegh. Bitter."

At that, Nie Mingjue huffed out a real laugh. "Fine, fine, fine. I'll heal properly and everything. May I be excused from my own quarters, didi?"

Nie Huaisang nodded solemnly as he used one delicate finger to wipe away the poultice residue from his lower lip. "I'll just stay here--can't I, Da-ge? It's more work if I have to sneak back in here in the evening."

Despite himself, Nie Mingjue was feeling a little tender toward his childish, refreshing didi who would treat his smallest wound as an actual event, no matter how inconvenient it was. Nie Mingjue showed a rare smile.

"That's your choice, Huaisang. If you want to stay, then you can today. I'll be back later."

With a light heart, Nie Mingjue stood once again, stroked Nie Huaisang's soft head of hair, and went to go finish those letters he still had to send.

9. what calms you down?

Not a question with a simple answer! It depends entirely on what I'm calming down from (＾▽＾)ゞ Overstimulated and simmering with anger? One particular German metal band or my aggrotech playlist played as loudly as possible over my over-ear headphones. Overstimulated and on the verge of running off into the forest never to be seen again? Helvegen, performed by Kalandra, possibly followed by the rest of my Northern Winter playlist. (Also the only music I can tolerate when I have a bad headache). Settling down in the evening and convincing my brain to have a semi-normal sleepy time? Turn off the lights step-by-step until only the fairy lights @freizusein gifted me years ago and a single LED candle remain, put on either this rain on leaves, this purring cat and fireplace or this summer ambience and then start writing until the lights turn off and it's bedtime The ambience vids may be replaced or complemented by a writing playlist. (*￣︶￣*)

19. most important thing in your life?

My phone, but hear me out!! Without my phone and its ability to connect me with people both here and all over the world I'd be bloody lonely. I really love my pocket friends ⸜( ´ ꒳ ` )⸝

26. what movie would you want to live in?

Lord of the Rings. Or rather The Hobbit. Just be a background extra in Rivendell and do my studies on ancient artefacts, only occasionally disturbed by whatever new travelling troupe Gandalf has come up with.

What’s a strange or funny rabbit hole you’ve dived into when researching for your fics?

oh man I end up in strange corners of the internet for research all the time jsfsa I know there have been a couple times I've stopped and stared at my computer being like how in the fuck am i h e r e but I can't remember any of the truly outrageous moments like that, so here's a general list of some of the more silly things I've done in the name of research

During my last semester of college I switched my major in my school's system thingy to see what requirements and hours were needed for a nursing degree for Eugene in Breakable Things (changed it back after obviously but my advisor was like bestiE what the fuck is this?? you have 2 months of student teaching left and you're bailing nOW???)

How to move a mattress on your own, specifically up stairs because the shape/weight is awkward for a single person for Eugenia in Getting Even

Tutorials for dancing, cooking, etc etc to get the cadence and terminology of teaching those things down

I have spent a LOT of time learning CSS and HTML coding to an extent for silly workskins

So much research about custody laws for Truths, involving a multi hour long conversation with my unfortunate law degree having mother where I asked about shit endlessly

Objectively hilarious because of how much I should have known on my own is how I had a conversation almost as in-depth and full of questions as the child custody talk with my mom about airports with my dad when writing Connections because airports are a nightmare for me and until this year when work and friend obligations left me with no other choice, I had not been in an airport since i was almost too young to remember. I'm not bothered by flying, to be clear, it's specifically the hellish noise, crowdedness, and confusion of airports and how you get yelled at at them for not knowing the systems even when every airport has slightly different systems. my autistic ass could never. so yeah. poor father man had to spend hours of his life answering my specific and strange questions about something so stupid

I've also entered in flight details, looked up and sometimes made dishes, and read conversations out loud over a song to make sure about how timing would work

⭐ Bucky Barnes (Marvel): Kind of going with the obvious choice here, but I feel like people who vibe with Steve are likely to vibe with Bucky too. He'd also share the war experience/trauma with Logan, and if they met post-Blip or something, I could see them leaning on each other in a similar way!

⭐ Paul 'Jesus' Rovia (The Walking Dead): Hi, would you like some trauma with your trauma in a zombie apocalypse verse? Setting aside, Jesus is one of my most stable muses, and I feel like he'd be so protective of Logan. Swapping verses, I can also see him being some sort of good-natured space thief.

⭐ Torunn Thorsdóttir (Marvel): Fuzzy on the details, but some sort of space team-up where Torunn is hunting the aliens that killed Logan's crew, but since he's one of the only people to ever survive an attack, he's also one of the leading authorities on them. Fearless goddess would try to get him back in the fight.

⭐ Dean Winchester (Supernatural) + Rosita Espinosa (The Walking Dead): Tossing the boys into a zombie apocalypse AU would only be one tick off from their actual universe at times, and I feel like these two and their attitude problems would really vibe.

⭐ Torunn Thorsdóttir (Marvel) + Thena (Marvel): Technically might be in the same universe but have no crossover that I know of, but oh the fangirl awe if Torunn ever saw Thena in battle! What a QUEEN. Please adopt her.
