Thinking about the time I lost a game of Overwatch and I was so mad about it that I genuinely considered getting into shit with the other team in chat and then realized that it was a colossal waste of my living breathing Human Time and uninstalled Overwatch instead because it was only making me angry.

And then thought about the OTHER time when I was on TikTok and realized I was Not Enjoying Myself and was, in fact, seeing so many sad videos and fake influencer ads that I felt Truly Despondent and then just…Deleted it.

Imo I want my social media /general media experience to be a pleasant break from real world and I get to decide what I get to cull to make that a reality for myself. I highly reccomended it! Life has improved considerably!

today i love the red metal crane in her long neck arching her body over the boston skyline, which means i am okay for a moment. when i am unwell, everything is a little ugly. i always tell myself look for the beauty but when it is bad, i will look at birds and sunsets and little ducklings and feel absolutely nothing.

when my brother got his puppy, i was in a deep depression. what kind of monster isn't affected by a puppy. i was gentle and kind to her - i just didn't have an emotional reaction. she's five now and i feel like i spend all of our interactions apologizing to her - i don't know why. i just didn't feel anything. how embarrassing. i feel like if i admit that, i'll seem cruel and jaded. it comes in waves. like, two months ago when i went out into the world - it was like that. life behind a pane of stormglass. a firework could go off over your head - nothing. like dead skin, no reaction. not to ice cream or rainbows or baby chickens. life foggy and uninteresting.

i love goslings again. i love their little webbed feet splayed over grass. i love good food and live music and long walks. i like puppies. i feel like some kind of my soul has been starved - i keep staring at everything with wide eyes, trying to burrow the sensation into my stomach. it's real. beauty is real. when it's bad again, remember this. i stop and smell the flowers, feeling cliche in the moment. i like the white-to-red ombre of my neighbor's roses. i like colorcoding and yoga and cold drinks. i try to pass my hands over every moment, feeling like i'm squeezing joy out of every instant. remember this. for the love of god, it's real - just remember this.

It all started when you were scrolling on tik tok one of your favourite thing to do when relaxing in bed.

The tik tok in question is the one where significant others waiting to see how their other half would react to their girlfriends / boyfriends cooking for them and accidentally putting less and they will set the table and put on the food in front of their partner and see their reactions when and if they will realise the difference on the portion.

You decided to test it out with your boyfriend on three years, you just returned from work and sat to fix dinner for both you and your boyfriend, the reason why Charles couldn't cook was because he doesn't know how to and also he went to the gym for a bit last minute training.

You decided to cook a long time favourite of your tiki masala for protein still following him diet but not on the dot it was rice with chicken with a sauce a bit simple but still tasteful .

You were finishing when your boyfriend Charles came into the kitchen with wet hair and no shirt on, he just got home and showered.

Kissing your neck softly and speak to you in French and making small conversations you told him to sit on the table and you were coming, plating the food you headed to the table with two plates the one filled to the brim with rice and chicken and thee other very visible less rice and two pieces of chicken.

Setting the on the table you pushed the full plate towards him where he was sitting and the other in your place and sat down, Charles looked up from his plate and sang praises to you for how nice it smelled and how hungry he was and finally his eyes settled down to your plate and he looked at his plate and then yours, that happened a few times and he got an idea

" baby can you do me a favour?" he said softly to you looking deep in your eyes and smiled sweetly

" yeah baby anything!" you said cheerfully

" could you go and get me a bit of breed baby?"

he said, you looked at him confused as to why he would want to eat bread with rice but you still nodded and got up and into the kitchen.

He was looking when you disappeared into the kitchen and looked to your plate and took his fork and started to put a few spoonfuls into your plate and still looking if you were coming which alerted him your slippers on the marble floors that you are coming and he settled down pretending that he was swallowing a mouthful of food and smiled at you, you set the bread you were asked to get and went to sit down on your chair but he again interrupted you and said

" oh mon amor! I am sorry! But I need a bit of cheese too! Can you go get it?"

"uh yeah sure" and off you went to get cheese he repeated the same thing taking food of of his own and into yours until he is satisfied with the portion and started to eat and waiting for you to come back and you did with the cheese.

He took it from your hands and put on a bit and started eating again and looking up at you yo check on you with his beautiful green eyes that make fall in love more and more everyday for those three years.

" baby why is your food so little? I thought I put on more!, wait take some from me! It's important for you to eat!"

You said fussing over him once you realised what he did

" oh non mon bébé ! You eat i am not that hungry so you eat! This is so good! You have to make it more! " he said while smiling and leaned to you and kissed your cheek.

" no baby wait I have more let me get you some! I just wanted to see how you were going to react to the difference in the portions! I saw it on TikTok and wanted to do it with you! " you said and kissed his lips and hugged him and went to get more food.

"What's up guys, today we have our favourite sister with us, Y/n!" Chris cheered as they started recording.

"I'm your only sister." You responded.

"Shh." He said, pushing you slightly as you all sat on the sofa.

You laughed, shaking your head as Nick introduced the video. Today you were with your brothers, going to show them some of your most popular TikTok's and get their reaction. It varied between pranks, dances and regular trends.

"I just hope they are clean." Nick said.

"Bro, I'm sixteen." You stated.

"Have you seen what some sixteen year olds are posting on TikTok! It's fucking mad!" He shouted.

You laughed as Matt started scrolling through your phone. He clicked on one video which had the most views. It was a prank you pulled on Chris.

"Ah fuck it had to be this one!" He shouted.

"Shh." Matt mumbled, hitting his arm.

You did the prank where you laid on the floor, trying to scare someone. That someone was Chris. You laid in the kitchen, behind the table, with your head poking out. You only waited a few minutes before Chris came bouncing in for another Pepsi, when you called his name.

"Fuck! Why are you on the floor!" He screamed.

"We going to get Taco Bell later?" You asked casually.

"Uh, yeah." He answered.

"Cool." You mumbled, getting up and walking off, leaving Chris confused.

"That was so fucking crazy." Nick muttered.

"So funny to see his reaction and scream like a little girl." You teased.

"Fuck you kid." Chris grumbled.

The next video Nick picked. It was a dance one you did with Matt, having nearly as many likes as the first one.

"This was a fun one." Matt said, smiling at the video.

"Yeah, you got some rhythm." You replied with a smile.

Nick sang along to the song that was playing, but knew it would be muted due to the risk of copyright.

"What the fuck." Chris muttered, as he read some of the comments.

"What?" Nick called.

"Some person commented saying how you look identical to Matt." He answered.

"What?" Matt called.

You laughed, reading the comment and some of the replies that came. You usually just ignored them, knowing there could some hate, only scrolling to find the good comments.

"I mean, do I?" You asked.

As you sat next to Matt, you put your face next to his. Both Chris and Nick looked at you both.

"I can kinda see it, but then if you look like Matt, you look like all of us." Nick answered.

"That's fair." Matt said.

"Anyways, onto the next!" Chris screamed.

You laughed and continued to react to some of your TikTok's with the guys until they had enough. You took your phone back as they ended the video and turned the camera off.

"We're so proud of you, sweetheart." Matt said.

"You are?" You called.

"Of course! Your being a boss on TikTok, living life, being happy and not giving a fuck about the haters!" Nick cheered.

"Thanks guys." You said, smiling wide as you hugged them.

"Love you kid." Chris said.

"Love you too." You responded.

Eddie does that Tiktok trend that’s like what’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve had to explain to someone in a customer service setting, but since he’s never had a customer service job, he asks Robin and she says that she once had to explain the plot to Back To The Future to someone.

And you can hear Steve off to the side sputtering like this is a conversation they’ve had multiple times, “First of all, we were not even on the clock! And I wasn’t- They never - they don’t even go to the future! That’s a terrible name!”

The Easiest Thing (I’ve Ever Done)

Had an idea. I don’t know if it’s anything, or if it makes any sense, but I like it. I hope y’all do too!

The camera’s shaky, moving from Eddie trying to place his phone down, making sure to keep his face in frame. “Baby,” he sings, looking off-camera. “Would you peel me an orange?”

A slight pause before, “Hypothetical or literal?”

Eddie blinks. “Uh. Literal?”

“How many do you want?”

Eddie gapes. “Just- just like that? No teasing? Nothing about me being capable? Nothing at all?”

“It’s an orange, babe. ‘S not like me carrying you out of-”

Eddie scrambles for his phone, and the video cuts off.

It picks up again later. They’re in the living room now, and Eddie’s filming Steve, who had just asked him a question. “Say it again.”

“Say-?”

“The question you just asked me. Ask me again.”

Steve gestures to the TV. “We just watched 50 First Dates, Eds, I don’t think it’s crazy of me to ask if you’d do that for me.”

“Stevie. Baby. Light of my life. Look me in my eyes and ask me again. But before you do, think about two years ago when you got a concussion and the resulting short-term amnesia.”

Steve closes his eyes and leans his head back with a groan. “I’m an idiot.”

“Are not,” Eddie says hotly, and the video cuts off again.

It picks up again later. It’s dark in the room, and Eddie’s got his finger to his lips, as if he’s telling the audience to be quiet. “Say that again, baby?”

Steve mumbles something unintelligible, then, “The elephant’s back.”

“Yeah? What’s it doing?”

The camera moves to focus on Steve’s face. He’s clearly still asleep, even as he frowns. “He’s proposing. ‘S my job.”

“Your job?”

“Mhm. ‘M gonna do it.” Another frown. “Screw you, elephant.”

The camera jumps to Eddie, who’s got a hand covering his mouth. The video cuts off again.

It picks up again later. Eddie’s in the same position as the first part of the video. There’s background sounds—rushing water and clanking porcelain—that means Steve’s washing dishes.

“I feel like you’re mad at me.”

The clanking stops. The water shuts off. “What?”

Eddie shrugs. “You’ve been kinda tense ever since I got home.”

“Baby,” Steve whispers. “No. No, I’m not mad at you. I’m so sorry I made you feel that way. I’ve just got a lot in my head right now.”

Eddie nods. “Can I help?”

Steve hums. “You can listen.”

Eddie smiles. “I can do that.”

“Okay, cool.” The water turns back on. “So I was talking to Robin earlier-”

The video cuts off again.

It picks up again later. They’re back on the couch, but this time Steve’s engrossed in a book, lips silently moving as he reads. “Baby.”

“Hm?”

“You mouth the words to yourself when you read.”

Steve flushes scarlet. “Shuddup.”

“No!” Eddie laughs. “No, I love it! It’s adorable!”

“You don’t.” He sniffs, but does nothing to hide the smile on his face. “It’s not.”

“It is,” Eddie argues back, camera jumping around as he shifts to sit up. “And I’ll prove it.”

“Yeah? How?”

“Uh. That part I don’t know yet. But I’ll figure it out!”

“Mhm.” Steve’s lips twitch up at the corners.

“I’m serious.”

“Mhm.”

“I love every part of you.”

Steve’s smile softens into something lovesick. “I know.”

“Especially the parts you don’t like.”

Steve groans and covers his face with the book, and Eddie chuckles as he turns the camera off.

The last time it picks up, Steve’s the one setting it up. “Babe?” He calls.

“Yeah?”

“Would you love me if I was a worm?”

“If you were a worm?”

“Yeah. Would you love me.”

Eddie walks into frame to grab Steve’s hands and hold them. “My darling,” he murmurs, “I fall more in love with you every day. It’s the easiest thing I’ve ever done and the easiest decision I’ll ever make. And I make it every day, I have for years now. If you were a worm, I’d build you the best little worm house. I’d do all the research and find out what you can eat, and I’d always have that. I’d learn to speak worm so I could talk to you.” He lifts one of Steve’s hands to his lips. “If you were a worm? Baby, I’d love you more than any worm’s ever been loved before.”

“Oh,” Steve squeaks.

Eddie presses a brief kiss to his lips before pulling away. “Why don’t you turn the camera off and come join me upstairs?”

Steve gapes even as he reaches for his phone. “You absolute asshole-”

“I meant every word, baby. Let me show you how much?”

Steve flounders, and the video cuts off for the last time.
