the sun rays were making their way through the curtains when jimin decided to wake jungkook from his sleep, behind her, her boyfriend groaned when jimin played a video to wake him.  

“yah! jungkook, wake up you silly bastard” but jungkook hid in her neck trying to forget that jimin was there and that he was trying to move him away from his girl. her eyes flickered but she kept still until she noticed jungkook placed a kiss in her hair, whispering a little i love you. once she heard them go down to the kitchen, she sat up on the bed, her mind going round and round in circles about something she knew she needed to tell jungkook but couldn't bring herself to. not until she knew for certain it was real.

rummaging in the baggage, she took the little box that could change their future forever. not that they hadn't talked about it, but the sting of the doubt and fear was still there and it hurt to think about it. the bathroom door clicked behind her and closed the latch, her hands were trembling but she managed to take the stick, and now she needed to wait.

10 minutes later, with trembling hands, she turned around the stick… two lines… two.lines. she was pregnant. she was going to have a child. she didn't know she was crying until she felt them run down to the t shirt she was wearing. still in a trance, she unlocked the door to the bedroom… and ran into tae. both of them went still, and she wasn't fast enough to hide the pregnancy test, he had already seen it. tae opened his mouth but she took him by the arm and dragged him into the bathroom and locked it.

she would have laughed at his face if she wasn’t so damn nervous with all the situation. tae looked between her and the stick.

“are you going to say something about it?” her voice shivered, she was so nervous, she needed to go out, breath some air and face the consequences. she yelped when tae crushed her into a hug. 

“omg, you are pregnant. you. are. pregnant.” she let out a small laugh and felt like crying again, but happy tears. “yeah, it seems so”

tae broke the hug but his hands were on her shoulders to comfort her. “have you told him?” she shook her head. “why not?”

“because…” she swallowed the lump that had formed on her throat. “im scared, im super scared, what if this ruins everything? what if he doesn’t want this? what if he leaves me all alone with this child? what-”

“hey, hey, hey, stop, stop right there” tae hugged her tightly again “believe me when i tell you that nothing of what you are thinking is going to happen. you know? i’ve never seen anybody love someone the way jungkook loves you, he adores you, if he could he would bring you down the moon, the stars and the galaxy just to see you smile and the fact that you are going to have his child… he is going to love you more if that is possible.” they laughed at that and she cleaned her tears.

“thank you so much taetae”

“no need to thank me” he sighed “omg we need to tell the boys, and expect a phone call of jin screaming and telling you he is going to buy everything in pink”

nightfall came and she hadn’t told jungkook yet. 

she wanted to, she really wanted to tell him but it seemed that the universe had other plans. 

she watched them play in the pool and smiled at the thought of a little jungkook playing with them. he or she was going to be the happiest and most loved child in the world. 

a moment later, she decided to go upstairs and watch some tv, replaying some scenarios of what could happen when she told him that they were going to have a child. 

“baabee” jungkook said with a singsong voice. “baabee” she replayed with the same voice and heard him laugh. his laugh was the most beautiful sound in the world. she watched him run up the stairs and throw himself onto the bed. “jungkook! you could have crashed me!”

he laid down on top of her, his head in her stomach. “but i didn’t”

“you could have”

he bit down her skin softly and jungkook heard her laugh and melted at the sound. they stayed like that for a moment, the tv casting a soft glow in the room, her hand traced patterns in his back.

“jungkook-ah”

he hummed.

“i need to tell you something”

he sighed softly. “go on sweetheart”

 she closed her eyes, and took a breath, two, three…

“im pregnant”

jungkook went still.

slowly he lifted his head, his eyes round like balls and his mouth a perfect “o”. her eyes were closed and she was holding her breath, waiting for him to explode, to yell at her, to break up with her, to tell her that he wasn’t going to take care of it…

“are you sure? omg, are you sure? im going to be a dad?”

she opened her eyes to a tearful jungkook. 

she nodded, that was the only thing she could do right now, she couldn’t talk. jungkook laughed and kissed her belly. “hello there, its me, your dad.”

“jungkook, they can't hear you” she said through tears.

“don't listen to your mama. i want you to know that i'm going to take care of you, that i'm going to love you till my last day here.” jungkook looked up and together they laughed and cried. he went up and started to kiss her face, making her giggle. 

“we need to tell the boys, and we need to call our family too, wait here.”

jungkook stood up and ran down shouting.

“hyung! hyung! im going to be a dad!”

and while the three of them laughed and screamed, she laid there, thinking of how grateful she was to have him and the guys by her side.

On a positive note, Rebecca Rose liked my post with the video on BlueSky !! It makes me so happy because I feel like things kind of came full circle with the Hollow Mind portraits lol.

I still have that old Twitter (eww lol) screenshot from when I had posted my HD remasters of the portraits and she had released the canon ones 3 days later. It made me so beyond happy and that’s probably still to this day the thing I’m the most proud of in my life, I felt like all the work I had put into my fan stuff paid off in such a major way.

Then having the portraits in HD (the real ones) plus the extra ones that she posted like the one of Caleb going through the portal was such a huge help in making my Carved and Modeled video, and it makes me so happy that she’s seen it now. It gave me that “OMG things went full circle” moment xD

💋 David 💋

Is a skilled fire arm shooter. (Loves the cowboy aesthetic)

Has his own gun hidden in the cave.

Doesn't get the chance too often, but will ride a horse when the chance arises.

Likes wood carving. Mostly non specific whittling into basic shapes or animals. It helps him relax.

Movie nut! When the boys go the Max's store to fool around, David makes sure to tuck a movie or two that catches his eye in his coat. Tends to watch them alone, all the questions from Paul would just grate on his nerves too much.

I imagine David would be like REALLY good at origami for no particular reason. He doesn't even try, just once the boys do it just because and he's just the best at it.

I don't know if vampires can emerge in water in the lost boys lore, but if they can David loves to swim. Chilling in water clears his mind.

💀 Dwayne 💀

Skater boi! Does a lot of sick tricks, but when you can levitate it's less impressive. XD

Doesn't care for guns, but likes archery. Hammers his own arrow heads. Dwayne and David like to pick a spot in the woods to shoot make shift targets.

A real book worm. Will spend a lot of time just silently reading for hours.

Takes up knitting from time to time. He prefers hand knitted blankets and throws rather then the store ones.

Likes to make jewelry. Made his own necklace.

Enjoys all types of puzzles. Cross word, jigsaw, and brain teasers.

Can sew and offers to sew up holes made in all the clothes the boys decide not to get new ones.

🌿 Paul 🌿

Can play the guitar.

Also likes to sing, and is pretty good at it. Wanted to start a band, but the other boys weren't up for it.

Has the biggest music collection and is always hogging the tabletop/cassette/cd player.

Amateur photography. Just likes to take photos randomly. Some are really artsy.

Got really into tie dye for a while. Although he might have just been high.

When he wants to relax, Paul really likes to stargaze. Laying outside the cave looking at the sky and hearing the waves of the ocean just makes him feel at peace.

When David isn't using the tv monitor, Paul enjoys quite a few video games. He also likes to take on the arcade and carnival games at the boardwalk.

🪶 Marko 🪶

Aside from pigeons, Marko will try to domesticate a number of animals to the cave, including stray dogs, cats, deer, badgers, squirrel, foxes, bats, and even a black bear once.

He in fact did NOT domesticate a black bear, but he did wrestle one.

He does his own patchwork on his jacket.

Like David, he likes to sculpt into wood, but he usually carves patterns and landscapes into more grand pieces.

He's also a skilled painter. Mostly he'll paint murals on sections of the cave David says is ok for him to paint on.

He collects sea shells on the beach.

He'll style the others hair. Especially David who he'll cut and dye in the way he likes best.

🔥Pack Activities🔥

Dart throwing. The bigger the target the better. David and Dwyane are very competitive at this one specifically.

Rollerblading. Put wheels on shoes, what more can you want?

Listening to music. The boys have very wide music tastes and sometimes they cross over and they all like the same stuff. They take turns around the player of their choice to just smoke, drink, and listen to the sounds of the music plays.

Card games. Specifically poker when they're all together. They make things more interesting when they make bets.

And of course motocycle cruising and board walk loitering.

Something that always strikes me with vampires in fiction and indeed with any immortal creature with the high and emotional intelligence of humans. IMMORTALITY IS FUCKING BORING!

I mean, think about it. Imagine you're given all the free time in the world with very little responsibility with no fear of getting sick or tired allowed to do pretty much whatever you want. What would you do? Cause I would go stir crazy. So I came up with these dumb little head canons on how I image the boys specifically would pass the time in their little vampire lives that doesn't revolve around murdering and feeding off of people.

Of course cruising on their bikes come to mind. And there's a couple in the movie we get to see like Dwayne's skateboarding and Marko's fondness for pigeons but I wanted to throw more possibilities out there. :3

I got BG3 request in my head for sometime. Um how would Astarion, Halsin, Gale, and Shadowheart react to a s/o or a tav that has a dog that fights along side with them like a tibetan mastiff, or a Akita, or maybe some other breed that is known to be made as guard dogs and protective of their owners? Maybe the dog more or less tolerates the LIs but still keeps an sharp eye on them. (Especially Astarion XD)

WARNING: Mentions of Dog Being Injured in Combat

Astarion

Considering his interactions with Scratch, he'd also act very indifferent when it came to your dog. Sure, it's a great meatshield, but it's a stinky animal.

Astarion is constantly telling you to just leave your dog at camp, acting like it gets in the way and is a nuasance, but he just doesn't want to see it being hit by a spellcaster or shot with an arrow. If ANYTHING bad happens to this dog then he'll lose it.

Honestly offended that your dog is indifferent to him. As if he hadn't been collecting the bones of your enemies to gift to the furry mutt. Very rude.

Gale

He's more of a cat person, but he loves you so he doesn't mind your dog. Although, he can't help remarking that your dog knows he likes cats considering how your dog is very indifferent to the wizard.

Gale makes sure to give your dog some good treats and headpats when he goes to spend time with you. He knows how much you and your dog have been through and he's going to thank the doggo.

Okay, but while Gale is more of a cat person, he can very much appreciate how pretty your dog is. He insists on giving your dog baths to keep its coat shiny and not bloodstained as many battles tend to leave you all.

Halsin

Oh Halsin absolutely loves your dog. It's a very strong breed and the gooddest boy/girl (besides Scratch) and he would love to cast a Speak with Animals to speak to your protector.

Your dog being indifferent towards Halsin does cause him to chuckle a bit. He promises that he'd never think of stealing you away from your precious companion and instead thanks your pupper for keeping you safe for so long.

Halsin enjoys wrapping you in one arm while his other is brushing your dog. The last thing he (and you) want are your dog having mats in their fur due to all the constant travel and battling you all somehow end up in.

Shadowheart

Like Astarion, she is also very iffy about you bringing your dog into combat situations. She understands that your dog is very loyal and keeps you safe, but she worries about something going wrong.

You can't always prepare for when someone wants to stop talking and switch to stabbing and she'd hate for your dog to get in the way. She knows your dog is indifferent to her, but she really hopes your dog also knows that she will keep you safe while the little guy is safe at camp.

Besides that, she does try to pet your dog and give the little guy plenty of loving too. Your precious dog will get all the praise for the goblins it ripped apart for you.

-Riddle knew you were full of surprises, but he never expected you to have such an amazing voice. Cater was the one that revealed your talent by showing him one of your music videos at one of the Unbirthday parties. Riddle questions as to why you don't reveal your face, but he realized that if that's what makes you comfortable, then its fine. The ADeuce combo joked with the both of you saying that you should sing for Riddle for his birthday. Riddle flushed and collared the both of them for messing with him, but he secretly wouldn't mind if you sang for him. His favorite song of yours is "New Genesis" , he loves how upbeat it is and he sometimes hums the song to himself when he is doing his schoolwork

Leona doesn't really care for music and all that other nonsense, especially if it disturbs his sleeping. He had found out about your singing when he was heading to Ramshackle dorm to avoid Ruggie, and had caught you in your room, recording for one of your music videos. You didn't realize Leona was in the room until you heard clapping, and saw him standing there with a smirk on his face. "Not bad", he said as he came closer to you and patted your head. Leona started to get more involved with your music, to the point he would wake up from his nap once he got a notification about a new music video on his phone. His favorite song of yours is "Usseewa", he tends to relate to the song and also likes the rebellious theme in the music video.

🐙Azul Ashengrotto

Well, well, well. Not only are you an angelfish, you also have the voice of an angel. Azul had discovered your talent, when he came across you in the music room of NRC, playing and singing on the piano. Azul came closer to you and sat down next to you, not saying a word, just listening to your gorgeous voice. Azul, being a business man that he is, wanted to promote you into being a singer in Mostro Lounge. Of course, he would pay you accordingly and there would be no need for a contract. Once you told Azul that you mostly perform on Magitube (Twst version of Youtube XD), and don't show your face, he understood and wouldn't pressure you, but he really would loved if you worked for him, so he could hear your voice more often. You did offer to sing a song promoting Mostro Lounge or have some of your merchandise be sold at Mostro Lounge, so both of you could benefit, since you felt bad for rejecting Azul's promotion, and Azul agreed in a heartbeat. His favorite song of yours is "Readymade" , he loves how jazzy it is.

NO WAYYYYYYY!!!!! YOU CAN SING!!!!!!! WE HAVE TO CELEBRATE!!!! Kalim was over the moon when he found out that you can sing, that he wanted to throw a celebration for you at Scarabia. He kept asking you over and over if you could please sing at the party. You appreciated how happy Kalim was about your talent, but you were not use to singing in front of people. Jamil noticed saw how tense you were and explained to him everything. Kalim realized that he was pushing you to sing and felt uncomfortable. He just wanted everyone to hear your amazing voice that he didn't consider your feelings so he apologized and offered to give you a ride on his magic carpet. Kalim wasted not time to subscribe to you and listen to all your music videos. His favorite song of yours is "The World's Continuation" , he loves the animation in the video and how soothing your singing is.

🍎Vil Schoenheit

Vil considered you to be a regular potato like all the other students until he discovered your talent when the Joint Culture Festival took place. During the auditions for VDC, it was your turn to demonstrate your singing, you surprised both him and Rook with your incredible voice. Vil is not an easy man to impress as he has been in the acting/music industry for a long time, so the fact that you were able to leave him wide eyed and mouth gaped like fish, welp, you had managed to capture the attention of the most beautiful person in NRC. Vil was slowly starting to become one of your biggest supporters/fans, as he often watched over you like a mother hen, making sure you were okay and not straining your voice too much. He wasn't use to your habit of not showing your face in your music videos, as you should be able to show your beauty to the whole world, but he slowly got over it, yet he was still interested in doing a duet with you on your video channel. His favorite song of yours is " Gira Gira" , he loved the message in the song and how it focused on beauty, but flaws and imperfections as well.

🔥Idia Shroud

Haha, don't group Idia with the other normies. He was the first one to discover your talent before all the other dorm leaders. During one of his gaming streams, he noticed that a lot of people were commenting in the chat about a recent music video of yours and that he should check them out. Idia decided to indulge in his streamers comments and check out one of your music videos. Welp, I guess you can imagine that after that, Idia become a huge fan of you and subscribed to your channel immediately. He was always the first one to hop on your new music videos and leave so many sweet comments about how good the video was and your voice. Idia understood COMPLETELY about not showing your face at concerts and in your videos as he does the same thing, and uses a tablet to communicate half of the time. You really appreciated Idia's support and you had asked him if he would be interested in doing an animation for your next music video. Idia fainted once you told him that, but Ortho answered for him and said he would love too. He loves all of your songs, but his number one favorite is "Backlight" , he loves the animation and the fact that you sang songs for an anime has him fangirling like crazy.

🐲Malleus Draconia

"Oya~ You are certainly one unique Child of Man." Malleus loves listening to music, but he is more use to the classical genre of music then rock or pop. He is also artistic in performing since he is very skilled with string instruments. He happened to discover your talent during one of his strolls through Ramshackle, as he saw you sitting in the fields, singing to yourself. Once you discovered Malleus had appeared next to you, you apologized quickly as you wondered if you had disturbed him, but he shook his head and said you sang very beautifully and would love to listen to you sing a bit more please. Malleus wasn't use to technology, but he had Lilia help him with that, since Lilia had better knowledge in that field, so he could watch and listen to your music videos. He was amazed to see how versatile your vocal ability was as you could hit so many different ranges. You had helped him discover other genres of music that he had never tapped into before and he thanked you for letting him discover something new. His favorite song of yours is "Aitakute" , he loves the story in the music video and the romantic theme in it.

Remember when I said I was knee-deep into SAMS/LAES? Welp, I still am- so here's my (mental) designs of all the core characters (Not scaled for height)! Some notes/extra thoughts under the cut :D Added their pallets to make coloring easier!

Main 4:

Work:

I swapped Sun and Moon waist thingy; I just think they would do that since they're close. Their arm ribbons were also changed to purple to match!

Moon has a cape instead of a ruffle like Sun because... idk, I think he'd like it!

Earth and Lunar also have matching cuffs; theirs is pale/light cobalt blue.

Gave Earth's dress more Princess vibes; why? Idk, just felt like she would like it!

Sun's joints can be seen since he hasn't died and been "placed" in a new/updated body!

Casual:

Moon and Earth (kinda) have casual outfits, so I thought I'd make something for Sun and Lunar.

Sun HAS his matching friendship bracelet with Dazzle- I finally decided to draw it ^^

Sun's shirt says, "Here comes the Sun" I feel it would mostly be a gag gift, but he likes it!

I almost gave him a sweater (cause he gives me sweater vibes, tbh), but then I saw his Q&A video and went, "damn, never mind, I guess".

Lunar's hoodie was also a gag gift (cause its color scheme is similar to Gemini)- but he likes it too much, plus it's soft :D

Made Earth's sweater a bit darker, mainly cause she has a lot of light colors already (the pink comes from the sprinkle sweater!)

I also feel like the boys would take off their bells when they're not working.

It was asked how and... idk they made an interdimensional portal- I'm sure they found a way to take off the bells lmao

The other 4:

I hate how I did Ruin's rays and hat. But nothing was working for me, so... oh well...

I gave Jack the two tips for his hat because I think he'd like those- same with the arm sleeves!

Also- yes he has a friendship bracelet with Dazzle- he keeps it protected under his arm sleeve, it's identical to Sun's!

I really like how Solar came out. Specifically his boots and shirt design!

He gives me knee boot vibes, so I gave him shoes with a sun and a moon on the back (they lace up just didn't feel like adding those details)

I Like how Eclipse came out- Miiiight redesign him... depending on how the Eclipse and Puppet Show goes, but for now, I'm content :)

I never mentioned it, but I do imagine that Eclipse has a second set of arms. I would think Solar did, too, but those were taken away during his revival because of the "Eclipse sees other Eclipses as inferior" stuff!

The Evil 4:

I made Dark Sun look like Regular Sun... cause that's kinda his whole thing! But if I were to give him a different outfit- it would be Eclipse's!

Few changes to Nexus (I can't take him or his model serious tbh, I kept laughing XD), decided to give his hat a Wither shard at the tip because power (and possible corruption) go BRRRRR (Side Note: Made an AU on it :D)

I'm not sure how visible it is, but on his right cheek, you can see a virus of some kind—I really like that, so I put it on him because I really like the idea of him slowly being corrupted due to his insanity!

He has a darker shade of boots similar to Solar because... well, Solar :)

World President Earth (or WP Earth) has a lovely wine-red dress with her flag as a cape (the same flag seen in the thumbnail)!

The flag is held together by a smiley pin because why not =)

Evil Lunar (while tempting to go with Current Lunar design) has the design of the previous version because, well... that's the form he gained the power in (from my understanding)

The tip of his hat is a dying Star because that feels appropriate, in my opinion.

I MIGHT do Foxy, FC, Monty, and Puppet, but I'm not too sure, tbh, since my mental image isn't too far off from their models. Anyways, time to return to my little gremlin hole and watch the series :)

My morbid obsession with Coruscant has always been around how we've seen it (it's so twisted! it just keeps burying itself, layer by layer! the iconic episode 10 Luthen&Lonni shot is of course an excellent example of the old mostly-forgotten infrastructure but my favorite glimpse of the depths is actually in the final Clone Wars season (there's a fucking lake! fucking what. and even THAT is like... so HIGH relative to the surface) (the SURFACE! there's some twisted remnant of a dead planet down there!) (I have gathered through the course of researching for a TBB fic that the TCW portrayal is largely born from a canceled video game called 1313? I think? Lost to the Dark Times the Disney I imagine. Anyway I digress)(MiniPoe just came down to tell me about his Sonic Encyclo-speedia and something about Metal Sonic getting too much backstory(?)(maybe?)so I lost my train of thought)).

BUT if we take a moment to imagine the infrastructure that must go into keeping the lower levels habitable (I'm not sure what the canon (if any) on how deep one can go) with food and water and air (I mean - AIR, at some depth surely it's just suffocating surely??) -

Side tangent there was an old EU novel in the New Jedi Order bonkers era where a mass evacuation of Coruscant/collapse of the government-ish happened and the novel Traitor has a character wandering the desolation of the planet and all the destruction and I don't remember a lot from it (there were def monsters though) but it's probably where my obsession was born.

Additional side tangent one of the EU X-wing novels has a fun little bit with a star destroyer buried (somehow??? these books were written pre-prequels, mind) under the city and it blasts its way free and just MAYHEM DESTRUCTION DEATH like millions of people just -

LAST side tangent in I thiiiiink the EU Jedi Academy trilogy (do not quote me on that) (also pre-prequels days) the Very Young Solo twins wandered off and ended up finding their way to the bottom of Coruscant where they met a dude who was like... a self-proclaimed king of the underworld (I think he'd once been some govt lackey under Palpatine maybe? I read these like 14 years ago lol) and he'd fled and was ruling happily in the depths and upon being informed 'oh hey yeah it's not like that anymore the Empire is gone you can come back up now' he was all "why would I I am a KING down here?" and just fucked off back to the basement.

Point being the EU was ridiculous as all fuck but it had fun playing with Coruscant before we had a Lucas-approved visual of Coruscant.

Content to live in the shadow of former Imperial glory and leave the New Republic to its rebuilding.

Ensuing power struggle with underworld warlord sorts who have been moving up since the Empire was yeeted? Waiting until the New Republic gets bored rehabilitating the galaxy to come all the way up and claim the prime real estate?

Eventual massive division and power struggle among a bunch of chaos factions, basically, is my proposal. Eventually, winning becomes more important than maintaining the infrastructure and supply lines. Eventually, maybe, the vicious competition for said supply lines ends up severing them altogether. Plenty of safer business to pursue, in the galactic rebuilding. Coruscant slowly fades from the greater galactic awareness. Left to its madness. Left to tear itself apart. Left to rot. Eventually left, undoubtedly, by many of the same sorts who set it on its slow death spiral in the first place.

You weren’t even sure why or when it happened, all you remember is cold throbbing and your world disappearing before you awoke. You were wrong though, changed, the sounds of the forest were horrible and loud, the sun felt like a fire burning you and you were so hungry. You’d gone home on instinct mind a craze for something you never thought you’d need, blood. You’d slaughtered your parents and drunk them dry, their blood flowed through your system and you finally came to reality. You’d been in shock horror, you had wailed out into the wooden house, trashed the place before going into a numbness and burying them. You ran from the village, took few things, you wanted to die out in the wilderness, only your hunger forced you to survive. You lived off rabbits, deer, whatever was unfortunate enough to cross your crazed being. Your clothes were ruined and you felt like a hermit, your hair was matted horribly and you looked like a skeleton. It’d been a hot day and you hid in a cave panting at thirst and the warmth, you felt like a rabid dog almost. You had no idea where you were, your backpack you once had was lost to the woods and your shoes and clothes were ruined. You jolted awake, senses on edge and alerted as you felt something close. Your hunger raged and you attacked whatever it was, praying for just a deer, problem was, it spoke. You bit down on its neck, power flooded your veins and your eyes went wide and you stumbled off whoever it was. You shuffled back before getting off the ground and ready to run.

“Stop!” You froze at the word and every single hair on your body stood up.

“Who are you?” He asked and you wondered why on earth he was talking to you.

“Nothing, monster! no one” your voice wasn’t yours almost, it felt wrong, hoarse. Your eyes twitched over the woods wanting to run, you heard critters in the night making you jolt and flinch.

“What’s your name, darling?” He said voice smooth as honey.

“Nothing” you shook your head flinching when he stepped closer, why hadn’t you run?

“Who on earth did this to you?” He said more asking himself as he circled you. Your mind flashed between brown hair, red eyes, strong body and sharp cold fangs.

“A master shouldn’t leave its spawn, the spawn should leave its master” he said huffing and you frowned.

You finally found the will to move your body and sprinted through the woods, you were too quick for yourself practically smacked into every tree before you fell to the ground in agony. You hadn’t been able to cry in a long time, you just laid in the bottom of the forest floor, listening to footsteps getting closed.

“I’ll help you” you heard as someone lifted you and your world went black.

You awoke with a jolt rolling off the overly comfortable surface, you hit the cold floor with a groan. Your mind eyes opened and you stared at the grey floor, where were you? The smells and sounds weren’t familiar.

“Darling?” You heard confused and turned snarling at them. The man from the forest stood there a silk black cape behind him, his chest on display from the extremely low v-neck he work, tight leather top with pants lined with red, black lace up boots, a black jewelled head piece around his forehead, disappearing into his white curls. He approached slowly and you quickly scrambled away and hit the back of the wall, your chest heaved and you couldn’t focus properly.

“Love, you need to calm down” he said and you groaned loudly. A burst of magic left you, knocking the vampire to the ground, a groan leaving his lips.

“Sire?” You heard come from the door.

“Don’t!” The vampire growled, but you had already got up and to run out the door. You knocked over who was at the door, you got lost in the big black castle, the occasional person looking at you confused. You were knocked to the ground though a body covering yours and fangs latching on your neck. You whimpered body going limp at the growl that filled your ears. You knew it was the vampire from the forest, he didn’t drink your blood though, he simply held you there like a wolfs jaw around a rabbits neck.

“Are you done?” He let go and whispered and you nodded hesitantly. You noticed others around you and closed your eyes hoping they’d disappear.

“Leave!” He snarled and hurried footsteps left. He hesitated but slowly lifted his body off yours. You lay limply though opening your eyes again.

“Up” he ordered and your body listened. You stood on shaky legs not looking to him, holding a hand over your neck feeling your blood before the wound healed quickly. You wiped your hands on your pants and tensed as the vampire moved behind you. You avoided looking at him as he stood in front of you.

“Tell me your name” he ordered and you hesitated.

“Y/n” you muttered the name foreign almost. He muttered your name and your body shuddered.

“Why’re you out in the forest living like an animal?” He asked.

“I’m a monster” you said fangs aching at the thought.

“You’re not a monster, you just haven’t been taught” you looked up as he said those words eyes wide.

“I know all vampires around here, who turned you?” He asked and you began to shake.

“I don’t know!” You cried as boots came into your view and a hand held your neck gently. You gasped looking to the vampire, his Ruby eyes stern.

“Open your mind to me” he whispered and you frowned, you didn’t know magic.

“I don’t know how to, I don’t know magic” you said shakily.

“You have it in you” he said as his thumb moved to your bottom lip. Your whole body lit up seeing his eyes intently looking at your lips. He frowned shaking his head slightly and letting your neck go, confusion in his eyes.

“Sire” you heard the voice from before and turned to the person. Another vampire stood there, a young woman, well she looked young.

“What is it?” He asked to the woman.

“There’s an issue requiring your attention” she pressed glancing to you briefly.

“I have issues already, deal with yourself” he snapped and she huffed.

“Syla” he warned and she gave a cold face before turning to leave.

“For a spawn she is defiant” the vampire behind you tsked, how many of them were here?

“How about a bath?” He said suddenly and you frowned at him.

“Kano!” He yelled and you flinched. A dwarf appeared, a human, a pissed look on his face.

“What you want?” He huffed.

“Please take our guest to the bathroom, get some of the ladies to help her” the vampire said.

“Apparently I’m needed” he sighed walking past you and the dwarf, disappearing down the hall.

“Who are you?” The drawf asked and you gulped.

“Y/n” you said.

“Kano” he introduced beginning to walk away.

“Come on then!” He called and you followed. You were confused from the halls and door before you reached a bathroom.

“Molly” Kano called and a black haired woman looked your way, a white dress on her body.

“Oh” she said surprised at you.

“What happened?” She asked looking to the dwarf.

“Our lord found her” he shrugged and she sighed shaking her head.

“Come let’s get you cleaned up” she smiled softly and you frowned, glancing at the dwarf as he left. She beckoned you over before running the bath.

I’ve been staring at the Melon Monster for years, trying to unpack what “the melon was just playing melon” and “melons are tops” meant because it’s definitely interesting wording, but nothing was coming up… until I came across a collection of articles and videos talking about the Yubari King Melon, a hybrid cantaloupe that has been specifically cultivated for its desired traits and is subsequently considered “the best melon” in Japan.

To be considered a top-grade melon, one must be perfectly round and have an exceptionally smooth rind. Upon harvest, part of the stem is left on top to add to its aesthetic appeal. [x]

As the Melon Monster alludes to, the Japanese fruit industry is an interesting rabbit hole to fall down, but this video offers a pretty good insight into the Yubari melon specifically.

According to this article, the Prince melon was developed in Japan and first sold in 1961, gaining immediate popularity in average households due to its low price. On the opposite end of the melon spectrum, the Yubari melon (developed in 1951) is exclusively grown in Yubari, Hokkaido and is so expensive it is considered a luxury fruit, which is in no small part due to its limited availability each year and sought after sweetness/aroma. Yubari melons are often given as gifts to show appreciation during the summer gift-giving season Ochugen and there are annual auctions where pairs of these melons regularly sell for millions of yen.

Furthermore, according to another article I found, the history of melons in Japan goes all the way back to the Makuwa (oriental melon), which Uriya gets his name from and which allegedly came to Japan during the Yayoi period (3rd century BC to 3rd century) via China. How prestigious! That certainly explains the choice of costume and no wonder the poor Melon Monster remarks that his existence is anachronistic when told by his peers that melon is just another fruit nowadays!

Here he is, trying his best to be a Yubari melon, cherry-picking what he thinks are his best and most interesting traits in an attempt to meet the expectations of others around him as someone with value, and the Battle Lovers immediately curb stomp every single one of his efforts by not only outsmarting him in the most effortless way possible (using the internet to solve his riddles and surviving his traps as though they were a children's obstacle course) but mistaking him for a common melon. The melon (Makuwa) was only playing melon… playing at something he could never hope to be… pretending that anyone could ever see value in him. But he is only an ordinary melon, so why would anyone go the extra mile for that?

[With this in mind, I feel like this monster must have sprung into existence as a result of a conversation about the popularity of melons similar to the origin of the Chikuwabu Monster (many thanks again to @intra-fiducia for the wonderful translations!! <3). XD]

On a side note, I wrote briefly about the paulownia box being a representation of how Uriya is trapped by his own anxieties and self-consciousness in his attempt to meet everyone’s expectations, but I didn’t realize that sometimes the gift of melon is delivered very cutely in one. So there’s an extra layer to that line about no longer needing to stay in one! Melon can be enjoyed in many forms and varieties, like the Battle Lovers said! He doesn’t have to be the best because the people who like melon pan, melon soda, and shaved ice will like him just the same for what he already is.

A/N: So funny thing I wrote like half of this and then my app reset so I have to rewrite almost I’ll of it :,) but anyways this is also kinda a comfort fic for me because I’ve been dealing with a lot of sensory issues and transphobia lately , along with being borderline denied an autism assessment so this is a fic for both of us anon

Days like these are tough. From the moment you woke up you could tell that something was wrong. It starts with the clothes. The shirt and jacket just feel wrong.

But there’s nothing else to wear so… you wear it. Then it gets worse in class. The temperature is just too much, and it makes your clothes feel so much worse, like you want to just scratch at your skin until the feeling stopped.

The noises the people make around you are unbearable. The gum chewing, the lip smacking, all of it is just to much. It makes you want to tear your hair out and rip your ears off.

The lights are too bright and everyone is just so loud, it’s starting to feel like your getting a migraine, like you just can’t take it anymore and start screaming at any moment.

And of course somehow these feelings just make you more aware of your body. You’re suddenly hyper aware of your chest, your waist, your face, even your voice. It’s all too much.

Luckily, when you first came to Night Raven Colege, you thought ahead about this. It was important for your teachers to understand your situation, diagnosis or not.

Crewel was aware of your situation, and with one look you’re able to slip out of class. You rush back to your dorm as quickly as possible, suddenly grateful that classes were going on so nobody could see you. You can’t help the whines that slip from your throat as you desperately try to hold yourself back from completely breaking down into a mess of screams and cries.

You’re able to quickly make it back to your dorm, locking yourself in your room and throwing off your uniform. Sure, being completely naked almost in tears in your dorm room isn’t the most flattering thing, but you just had to get that stupid uniform off.

Rubbing down the worst feeling parts of your body, you’re able to calm down enough to dig out your favorite clothes and throw them back on, even if they not be in the best state. You just need them right now.

Being able to use any type of noise cancelling headphones or earbuds helps calm you down a little bit more. Just having them in, even if you’re not playing anything, it helps get all of the noises from the day out of your head.

A drink of water also helps. In very few gulps you’re able to swallow almost an entire bottle of water. You lay down in your bed, breathing heavily as you start to calms down in a safer environment.

As you lay in bed, you can feel your soft blanket in your feet, rubbing them back in forth to get a nicer sensation than what you were feeling for most of the day.

Taking a few more sips of water, completely finishing off the water bottle, you take your stim toy of choice. You have all of your favorite options thanks to everyone at NRC giving them to you. As you fidget and play one of your favorite videos, you start to think. You managed to slip out of class, and you didn’t even hurt yourself or make a complete mess of your room. At least that’s some progress.

You’re cut off by your thinking by a knock on the door. Not able to form words at the moments, you pull yourself out of bed and peek out of the door.

Standing there is your tall, rather intimating boyfriend.

“Eh? Shirmpy what happened? You just left class so suddenly…”

He has his usual playful drone to his voice, but you can tell the slight hint of concern, a difference you’re sure only you and his brother can notice.

You stay silent, just giving him a pained look and hoping he understand. He does.

“Not talkin’? Alright… you want me to stay?”

You’re able to give him a small nod, and he walks right in and practically jumps onto your bed, making grabby hands at you, his mood doing almost a 180, as he usually does.

You could always depend on Floyd to understand what you’re going through. He also has his fair share of his own mood swings and tantrums, he’s never judge you for your own.

You walk back to bed and slowly slink into his arms, leaning against his chest comfortably. Floyd was somehow never too hot or too cold to cuddle with. He was somehow always the perfect temperature no matter what you were feeling. It almost feels like he knows how to control his own body temperature on purpose.

He squeezes you tight, not as hard as he does when he’s mad at someone or intentionally trying to hurt them, but a real, genuine hug. And it’s perfect. Others would complain that his squeezes are way to tight, but to you it’s perfect. He’s almost like a weighted blanket. You’re glad you make him feel safe enough to hug you as hard as he wants with genuine love.

He snuggle close to you, leaving soft kisses on his he top of your head and cheek, but not anywhere that may be uncomfortable in your overstimulated time. He’s mindful of where exactly he’s touching you, he knows what parts don’t want to be touched in these moments, even the most obscure ones.

As the two of you snuggle and watch whatever you chose to put on, he mutters sweet things to you.

“I love yooou.” “My boyfriend….” “My boy.” “So handsome”

It seems like he’s in a lovey mood now. Even with his sudden switches, he always seems to know the right things that you need to hear. He also checks up on how you’re feeling.

“Are ya comfortable?” “Feelin’ any better?” “Are you too warm?” “Do ya want your stuffed animal?” “Want me to move my arms?”

When you aren’t talking, the both of you are in a comfortable silence. It starts to become hard to keep your eyes open after the day you’ve had combined with the cozy environment with your boyfriend holding you tight.

Eventually, you can’t fight the exhaustion anymore and feel yourself starting to drift. Before you fully fall asleep, you feel a soft kiss on the top of your head and the arms around you squeeze just a bit tighter.

“G’night Shirmpy, sweet dreams…”

I wanna talk about 2 episodes in particular for this ramble:

Mario loses his moustache & Mr.Puzzles lowest point

It is my humble opinion that this dude still does NOT know what the fuck a MEME is- cus look at his actions in each episode. In the first one he studies Mario intensely because this is the one who has been ruining his plans the most with his bullshit and FUNNY.

Mr.Puzzles is after the power of being funny but still finds memes disgusting/horrible, when he makes Pedro his intensions are to film the creature hoping to steal SMG4's fame in a SMG3 LIKE manor, instead of stealing the videos hes just stealing assets of an actor. Yes; he does say MEME OFF but im convinced this man has no fucking clue what he's talking about and thats made more apparent in the next episode where he's going through content creator depression.

When the children turn on their Brainrot Skibbity Toilet he rightfully finds it to be the most insulting thing to ever grace his face and wants it gone, but then he realizes; hey wait a minute ... If I do this, I can traffic people to follow me, make money, make the content I love and BAM!! I'll be popular!!!

However.... He gets in his own way, when the "fame" of a billion children liking his youtube channel hits, it gets to his head immediately and he gets distracted from what he really wanted to do! more rambligns on Vi and her role in the finale and arc issues in season 2

I came over to read it and wanted to possibly start a conversation

No worries, I love big damn essays and I often seek out people who also do big damn essays because I hope that means they will also be more okay with my tumblr skewing so heavily towards big damn essays.

A big part of this issue is that I don't think the second season really backed up the claims that "Vi always chose Jinx to her own detriment" and that "Vi never would have let Jinx go".

Fully agreement with you there. I feel like this arc, this message is there in the writing, but it's mostly in what Jinx says (particularly in the scene in the cless where she runs off to try and kill herself), but the interviews of the writers do A LOT of heavy lifting/very little of that made it to the actual screen.

I will say that this is a problem of several stories, that fairly essential scenes were left off screen.

Vi simply doesn't choose Jinx to her own detriment in season 2.

I think one can read that as "Vi's interactions with Jinx improve because she has eased up on Powder". I haven't read your response to the schnee video yet, but I think that was one of their main points that the underlying motive of the show is accepting change and that for the most part people get punished if they don't accept change and rewarded if they do.

So you can read season 2 as "Vi learned and grew, became more open minded about Jinx, made better choices in regards to Jinx and so she doesn't deserve to be abandoned by Jinx". But I'm not convinced that that is fully the right frame either. Like my gut instinct is that Arcane generally isn't a show about "rewards" and "you did the right thing, you did the cookie". I'm not convinced that the writers really think of the show that way and yes it's a frequent way we the fans deduce meaning but I'm not convinced that rewarding characters for their definiotion of good behavior was necessarily how the writers thought about it.

OKay, this is getting long and rambly, it's time to make a cut for readability XD

(I remember they talked about in season 1 they had a guiding princinple of always defining what a character has a core want and them getting it but always in an ironic way. ie Silco wants indpendence but when he gets it he can no longer enjoy it, Vi finds Powder, but finds her changed; but they also talked that that principle fell to the wayside in season 2. so they always had a strange, dramatic ironcy/maximize the drama concept of rewarding characters in the first place and they didn't even stick with that consistently)

The other aspect is that their focus might just not have been Vi. They would have looked at it not as "Vi is getting punished" but "Jinx needs this for her character development".

Switching from "Vi is the main character on a journey in season 1" to "Jinx is now the character on a journey in season 2" would always have been a shock, but imo that could have been an approach, but to make that more satisfying it would have helped to maybe be more explicit of this duality (I think it is suggested in the fight in 2x05 where argue and Jinx she's the hero now) and if they made Vi support the other arcs this time she could still have had a very consistent support role and maybe even have a smaller arc within that support role.

And it's these two big things being what the final decision hinges on that makes the fact that the sisters' final scene was written before they wrote the rest of season 2 incredibly obvious because, with the way they had Vi progress, this ending doesn't make sense for her (to me).

Full agreement. Like I said, I do buy that they saw the scene as their "guiding star" and I do think they built towards it happening, but they built it up from Jinx's point of view. The seasons is all about Jinx's journey and building up to where she comes to the point of making this decision.

This is the big contrast to season 1 where Jinx was freakishly obsessive and possessive about Vi and jealous of Caitlyn.

Season 1, Jinx abducts Caitlyn and Vi and wants to kill Caitlyn.

Season 2, tadaaaa, character growth, Jinx tells Vi to be happy with Caitlyn and hopes out to follow her own path

I don't know how fixed all the elements of the last Vi and Jinx scene were (did they always know that Vanderwick was gonna be hanging from Jinx's leg? did they always know it was gonna be set against the backdrop of arcane threat Viktor's puppet apocalypse or was it more like the dialogue was fixed and the general idea of Jinx leaving/falling). But what sticks out to me about this scene how deeply deliberately it is from Jinx's side.

Jinx pulls up, precision hits the gem on the gauntlets, disabling the gauntlets, forcing the letting go. Jinx has a lot of agency in this scene (and even opportunity to show off her character), while Vi doesn't.

Jinx has an arc this season and Vi is the focus and the object of this arc.

We can gleam meaning from Vi's place in the story, but a lot of it is fanwanking, writer interviews and "facts not in evidence".

Like I think many have settled in on the interpretation "Vander parentified Vi, it wasn't healthy hat she felt that responsible for and guilty about Powder, it's a good ending that she ends up exploring a relationship and future with Caitlyn".

But in that sense it's frustrating how much of that is fan assumption and writer interviews.

Especially if you contrast it to Jinx in season 2. Jinx gets a bit of a resolution with her father figure. She gets a scene with Silco's chair where she essentially says "you'd probably want me to be out there and fighting Piltover, but I think I'd rather hang with Isha". And she gets a scene where she hallucinates Silco into telling her what she wants to hear/giving her permission for her chosen path (to break the cycle).

But at the same time, Vi never gets that with Vander. Vi never get a scene with her getting angry at being put in this position. Or a scene where Vander hugs her and tells her "hey kid, I didn't want you to tear your life apart over this, of course I wanted you to be happy".

Take the scene with the letter. In theory this scene should be super meaningful for Vi. She spent season 1 being convinced that Silco was the devil and this is how she finds out that he knew Vander and Vander felt bad about hurting him. This could have been her big "things aren't as black and white as she thought in season 1" scene. Or it could have been easily tweak to Vi getting from that that Vander spent his life in regret that he couldn't work things out with Silco, so she shouldn't let the chance to be with Caitlyn pass her by.

Really just any scene of Vi getting to reflect on he letter would have been good. Just some Vi and Jinx scene where Vi goes "So, Vander and Silco, crazy story, huh" and Jinx could have reacted by opening up a bit about living with Silco and how often he talked about his Vander trauma.

Instead, yes, Vi does get her Vander hug and learns to trust Jinx more. But within the context of her "choose her own happiness over familial duty/overcome her trauma with Caitlyn's love" arc, this isn't necessarily all that useful. She jumps right into protect/heal the family member with Vander. She still tries to rush in and protect Jinx in the battle where Isha dies and is held back only by injury and Caitlyn. She then wakes up in Caitlyn's spiffy mansion and rather than talking to Cait immediately rushes off to break Jinx out of prison. And in the final battle she is still paralyzed by seeing another "dead" Vander.

Based on how the second season played out I believe that Vi should have seen Jinx after her "death" to confirm to her and the audience that Jinx is in fact alive and been told by Jinx that she's going to leave Piltover. Vi is left with a choice: she can stay in Piltover and be with Caitlyn or leave with Jinx. In this moment she chooses to let Jinx go.

I agree that that would have made Vi's arc feel more complete. (or even just a small thing like having Vi be the one who deduces that Jinx ran off and indicating with facial expressions that she approves).

The core problem of Vi's arc is definitely lack of choice. My theory is that at the core of it Amanda's statement of what Vi would choose if she had nobody left to protect and that itself is a flaw like the writers and such as the show insist that Vi would never willingly give up her responsibility and duties, so the show operates on a logic that everything, every person, every responsibility, every choice has to be taken away from Vi.

IMO one angle is that Amanda writes Jinx/Vi/Caitlyn like it's a romantic triangle that she wants Caitlyn to win. That's why Jinx has to leave.

From Vi's perspective the happy end would be clearly that Vi gets to enjoy her romantic relationship and also have a good relationship with her sister/rebuild her relationship with her sister. But if you see it from the point of view of a rabid Cait shipper maybe that idea isn't as attractive, because you want Cait to fully have Vi and have all of Vi's attention focused on Cait. That doesn't mean that the character of Cait wants that at all. The character of Cait wants what's best for Vi. But the story sometimes acts this way.

The other aspect is that you can read season 2 as "they chose Jinx and Cait as the new main characters (evidenced by screentime) and wrote accordingly" The fact that Cait knows about Jinx's death and not Vi in the end makes sense if you are writing the season as Cait's arc. Cait gets an arc this season about being obsessed with hunting Jinx, she gets a moment of reconciliation in the prison with Jinx where she expresses a desire to end their emnity, is willing to let Vi spring Jinx out of prison and it concludes with Caitlyn smiling at the thought of Jinx getting away.

And here's where my personal convictions come in where I think the writers don't owe us a story. Like they didn't owe us to keep Vi as the main point of view character. They didn't owe us a Zaun becomes independent story. Basically, I believe in writers having a right to tell the stories they are interested in, even if I would have been interested more in a different story. IMO season 2 still has flaws beyond that. I can support their right to choose to tell a certain story and then point out they did a poor job of executing it. Like they had a right to shift focus from Vi to Jinx and Cait, but there's things they could have done to make things go over more smoothly if that was their goal.

IMO they could still have given Cait and Jinx the main arcs of season 2 and have given Vi a smaller supporting arc inside. That still would have been less satisfying for people who watch mainly for Vi but it would have just worked more smoothly if they had given her her own thing or at least make a better job of communicating why they think certain shifts are necessary. Like you said, be more explicit why Vi is being unhealthy. Or maybe make it explicit that maybe Amanda felt Caitlyn needed a dark arc because Vi was underestimating or putting Caitlyn on a pedestal in season 1.

For what it's worth: I think a scene where Jinx and Vi speak after the battle would indeed have been a satisfying conclusion to Vi's arc, but I do think it wouldn't have gelled with the mood the writers were going for. Like as fans of course we crave a good arc and a satisfying conclusion, but I think Arcane specifically wanted to end on some sort of perfectly imperfect/not as straight forward mood. I don't think they wanted things to be neatly tied up, they wanted it to be a mix between good and bad. That's why Sevika and the council are glaring at each other, that's why we have a montage about both Piltover and Zaun mourning the dead, that's why Mel's is journeying into the unknown with mixed feelings.

And to me that really does feel fully intentional from an artistic point of view. They didn't want to end on happy or easy or even concluded.

So something like Vi and Jinx having one more talk I think would have felt too neatly tied up to them compared to what they were going for.

She also doesn't know her place in the world.

Just wanted to add a big fat yes. That's a big bugbear of mine. IMO the show could easily have dropped more hints that show off that Vi actually likes enforcering, giving us an image of what their future life will be like and what she likes about it. Whether she likes the investigating and the deducing, the camraderie, the helping of people. IMO that is something that could easily have been achieved without changing the overall openness of the ending or the focus on Cait and Jinx's arcs. Yes there are moments you can interpret that way, but you have to basically find them with a mangifying glass and a lot of headwank to make it happen.

They don't really allow Vi to move past her guilt and responsibility

For what it's worth I can picture that one could read as the message being there's no easy moving on, but at least Vi and Cait will do it together. I think that fits the mood of ending that we are shown the effects of the battle on Zaun and Pitover, we have Caitlyn still marked by her battle, we have Caitlyn's monologue saying that people likely fuck up again and not learn from the past.

I actually think that that is a really interesting contrast between Cait's monologue:

Our only consolation that with every loss, we found some good, some light, worth gaining, worth fighting for. And though we are doomed to revisit the error of our ways… spark ever more conflicts… our story isn't over.

And the monologue from Silco's apparition which Amanda said was the central thesis of Arcane:

Killing is a cycle. One that started long before Vander and me. And it will continue long after the two of you. We build our own prisons. Bars forged of oaths, codes, commitments. Walls of self-doubt and accepted limitation. We inhabit these cells, these identities, and call them "us." I thought I could break free by eliminating those I deemed my jailors. But… Jinx… I think the cycle only ends when you find the will to walk away.

I can you can definitely read this about Vi being somebody to his trapped in her commitment to protect the family, in her identity as sister. And the show does I think propose the idea that walking away from violence and walking away from commitment and responsibilities and expectations that feel like trappings is a good thing.

But I think it also takes the stance that just because it's a good thing doesn't mean its an easy thing. It's not you discovering that the cheat code is walking away and then everything works out. Walking away is hard and maybe has its own downsides, but it ultimately is the right choice according to them.

I was always fascinated with Amanda saying that she included Maddie also because it was Caitlyn trying to date somebody more appropriate from her mother's point of view (which I think doesn't make a lot of sense to people because it's never mentioned in the show and from a meta point of view Maddie is still underclass and she's an enforcer something we know Cassandra disapproved of). So there easily could have been a stronger theme of Cait, Vi and Jinx all stepping out of the roles and identities that trap them.

Cait wants to fill her mother's shoes in the beginning of act 1 and according to Amanda Maddie is part of that, but of course she ends up going with Vi.

Vi wants to follow Vander's last order to protect Powder/the family, but ends up not being successful at that and instead moving on with Cait.

Jinx of course rejects both Silco's message to focus on building a weapon and fighting Piltover and his message that everyone betrays them and it's only the two of them by forging new relationships and reviving old ones. But you can also read her to some extent maybe being trapped by the Jinx personality and the expectations that come with it (whether it's the expectation to be craaaaaaazy or the expectation to be a savior)and she breaks out of that.

This could have been more explicit if we had had a scene where Cait intentionally lays down her job as commander. In a "okay, I'm gonna stop messing with politics and walking in my mom's footsteps, I'll go back to being a normal enforcer, the thing she hated, as soon as things get back to normal" kind of way.

I am interested to hear what you think about this. I genuinely would like to know if you're willing and able to answer. I think you are good at expressing your viewpoint and bringing up a lot of good points that I hadn't necessarily considered.

Hah, I fear my response was very scattershot and all over the place. Maybe I'll eventually manage to rephrase it as into something more coherent. I do really enjoy gabbing with people who like to write long rambly metas just like I do. So never feel worried about meta-ing at me. I might not always respond, but if I don't it usually is always due to lack of time and not because I disapprove. In fact, I love it when people respond to my rambles with reverse rambles.

I also do want to say I don't want it to sound like I think Amanda is the devil or anything. It's just the situation that she has been the most open about her thought process and has taken a lot of both credit and responsibility for writing this particular story.

I actually do think that she both had the best intentions and that she is quite talented and likely has written quite a lot of things we do really enjoy in the show (I really don't buy into the idea that some season 2 haters have that everything they liked in season 1 was written by magical other writers and the big 3 (Amanda, Christian and Alex) had zero involvement in anything they liked. Plus she also seems to have an a lot more level headed take on fandom interaction and response than Christian but also many other writers.

I do think she wrote good stuff, but there are some tendencies in the writing that I don't think necessarily worked towards her stated goal of making a big fat but also messy and complex lesbian OTP and others that to me make more sense if you interpret with some favoritism or kind of fanficcy tendencies.
