Excerpts from the journal of John MacTavish. If found, return to 22nd SAS regiment, Credenhill, UK. (Part 1. Part 2. Part 3)
Page 1.
Can’t believe Andrews made me get a new journal. If he wanted a token of affection that bad, think we could’ve figured out something else entirely than stealing. Or I could’ve given him those socks.
Page 2-12.
[ Various sketches ranging from different kinds of lethals and tacticals marked with component listings as well as spec preferences for his preferred sniper rifles. There are also lists of chemical components, preferred wire materials for varying uses, and an anthropomorphic rubber duckie. ]
Page 13.
Shipping out for a job in Al-Mazrah in a few and they got me bundled with the marines. Target named Hassan
 honestly would’ve thought we nailed him in that missile strike. Guess the guy’s luckier than we are.
The marines aren’t too bad at least. Laswell says I’m gonna be working with Ghost again. Honestly? Bit surprised, but man I’m glad for a familiar face on my six at least. He’s a mean shot, but he gets things done and that’s something I can really look up to.
Wonder if he’s still mad about the kill stealing through
 oh well, one way to find out.
Page 14 – 15.
[ Compound blueprint sketches. ]
Page 16.
[ Two more sketches of birds, though noticeably they seem to be vaguely dove shaped. ]
Al-Mazrah was an absolute shitshow, but I can’t remember the last time I was ever in Urzikstan and it wasn’t one. Eight marines injured, six dead, and we didn’t even get the guy in the end. Fucking “choices have consequences” indeed, but I gotta keep telling myself that if we didn’t secure the site then it would’ve been much worse.
The American missiles keep bothering me though
 US wouldn’t be in bed with the terrorists, would they? Given past history, suppose that’d be the least surprising thing about this

Page 17.
[ Another dove sketch ]
Found Andrews had left my journal on my bed before leaving for Russia. Found out he didn’t come back.
Guess I cursed him for thinking there’d be a thing there.
Page 20.
Would’ve thought we’d have had more time, but I’m getting shipped back out with Ghost again. Mexico this time, guess that means Price and Gaz actually turned up something on their end about this. Narco related, by the sound of things. What the hell could drug lords be moving American ballistics for?
And what the hell’s Hassan doing hand in hand with them? Shouldn’t think too hard about it, it’s only gonna make me mad.
Supposedly working with a PMC on this, too. Never worked with one before, so this’ll be interesting. Dossier on their leader’s impressive as hell. If we got time, wonder if Graves will let me poke around an AC-130.
[ Below, a now updated sketch of Ghost the Beagle having made its return, next to a poor man’s helicopter. ]
Page 22.
Absolute shitshow of the last 24 hours.
Going after Hassan as soon as we made contact, only to have to release him? Fucking rules
 it’s not like we ever played by them in the first place, so why does it suddenly matter now? I didn’t jump off a cliff for this.
Finding Graves just about as pissed about it as I was had been surprising. Knew I was going to like the guy
 Owe him for the save, should remember to pick up a bottle of tequila before we leave.
Ghost has been strangely quiet since we got back to base. I wonder what’s going on in his head

Page 24.
[ A drawing of Ghost’s mask, large and surprisingly detailed. Specifically he’s focused on the cracks in the material and tears in the fabric. Notes about seeing if Alejandro’s base has tape around and other repair things, plus an arrow pointed at the eye holes that simply says ‘Brown??’ ]
Page 25-26.
[ A long, four column list of Spanish words and their English translation. ]
Page 29/31.
[ The page is positively beaten up, the only signs of any legibility being found behind from indenting and pen markings bleeding through. The only clear thing that can be made out are the words ‘May he rot in the deepest fucking bowels for what he did to us, and the rest of his Shadows better run’. A few dried blood smears can also be seen. ]
Page 37-38.
[ A surprisingly accurate drawing of Ghost and Alejandro can be seen on the top of the page ]
As much of a shitshow as it was, I’m going to miss Mexico. Not the new injuries though, pretty sure that ache in the back of my knee’s still from the damn Narco guards
 Though can’t wait to actually get my shoulder properly looked at. Not looking forward to explaining how I caught a bullet in it though

Gonna miss Alejandro. Man’s a right crazy bastard, and that’s coming from someone who’s an even crazier bastard himself. Honestly, couldn’t have asked for a better partner, really. Actual hermano for life right there.
Couldn’t help but notice Ghost seemed easier when the helicopter finally took off. Relieved, almost, but I couldn’t blame him for that. Now that I’ve seen what he looks like, I wonder if that means he’s finally come around to trusting me a bit more. Could’ve sworn I heard him speak Spanish on the tarmac, too.
Weird guy
 every time I think I’ve got him figured out, he’s got another three mysteries on hand.
Page 39.
[ Extensive drawing of the suspected building in Chicago after having gotten the blueprints over computer. There’s a crossed out scrawl of plans, entry points, counting for how many flashes and stuns he should split with Price, and something about C4 in case of locked doors ]
It ends today. Get Hassan.
Page 40.
[ An idle small doodle of an explosion could be found in a corner ]
CIA levels of creative writing should be a standard in school. Wouldn’t have gone with blaming a power outage on wind, but suppose even weirder things happen in this country. Still not sure what hurts more now, the fall down the elevator shaft or the fact that Hassan reopened my shoulder.
Probably a bit of both.
Finding out Shepard’s fucked off was not a good way to end drinks. Finding out Makarov’s back in the picture even worse. No rest for the wicked as they say, and sure as hell no rest for us. They can be tomorrow’s problem though, we earned ourselves a hard won victory.
Page 41-42.
[ A continuation, though it’s separated by a surprisingly large portrait of Simon ]
Getting saved again by Ghost though
 twice now? Think I paid him back for the first time in Las Almas already by saving him, but it’s never a good feeling to be left in debt. We got a few more days in Chicago (I blame Price and Laswell insisting I get my shoulder sorted while here), I’m thinking maybe I see if he wants to go out on a bar crawl as thanks.
He probably doesn’t even think about it, but he’s close to owning about as much of me as Price does.

P.S. This chapter is parallel to Part 2, it's just from Kakashi's POV so you know what's going on while Y/N is waiting for him at the bookstore.

Darkness swallows us
There was blood. So much blood. He was supposed to be used to it. He thought he was. Before him was a sea of red, adorned with a few colorful spots sporadically distributed across the landscape. Were those in his mind?
He certainly felt lightheaded, and perhaps a bit cold. There was a dull ache somewhere in his body, but he couldn’t pinpoint the spot.
As he tried to raise his left arm, a sharp pain in his shoulder let him know the blood belonged to him. Maybe he was even injured in other places he wasn’t yet aware of, the blood was far too much for a simple gash on his shoulder.
He tried to get past the pain, gaining more awareness of his body trying to sense the usual buzz of chakra. It was almost gone too, he felt it slipping just like his consciousness.
He didn’t panic, however. His encounters with death had been one too many, he could almost say they were part of the job. He and pain, were now old friends.
Instead, he shut his eyes gently and let his head roll back, crashing with the soft grass.
He stood in front of the bookstore, the one he’d visited a while ago, in the search of the new edition of Icha Icha. Sunlight struck his eye violently. It took a few moments to adjust to the brightness
He looked inside the store, looking for her amongst the piles of “New arrivals” “Hottest summer reads” and “All time favorites”. She was there, arranging another pile. A gentle frowning on her face, forehead creased in concentration. She was so careful with each copy, placing them in a beautiful pyramid shape, akin to the others. He couldn’t see the title of the books she was arranging, but they were surely ones she cared for, based on the way she delicately handled them.
He observed her quietly, enjoying her calm movements. It must have been hot inside, because her cheeks started flushing, despite that, Kakashi felt cold.
A sudden urge to go inside hit him. He reached for the door handle, but his hand slipped right through. He tried again, but it seemed as if he was made of nothing. Just thin air.
From the inside, she lifted her gaze towards him, with a look of recognition, and he felt a wave of relief.
He made a move to open the door, however his hand passed right through the handle once more.
Then her expression changed abruptly, as she stared beyond Kakashi, as though he wasn’t there. Her eyes widened, fear written all over her delicate features.
Heart pounding, Kakashi turned around to see what had scared her, but saw nothing, just the plain old buildings.
She made panicked gestures towards Kakashi from the inside, and mouthed some words he couldn’t hear. It seemed like something important. there was a desperation in every move she made.
Confused, he tried again, only to watch his fingers slip through the handle for a second time.
She urged him to come in, her hands waving rapidly in front of him.
Now he was getting desperate. His head felt odd, almost as if he had stopped breathing seconds ago, and was  experiencing a lack of oxygen.
The bookseller’s face contorted with pain, and Kakashi saw that ribbons of darkness were wrapping around her body, consuming her.
He tried to call out, scream her name, but there was nothing there.
Seconds later, darkness had swallowed them both.
He awakened with a jolt.
His heart was beating so fast, like it was trying to escape his chest. He took a gulp of air and was satisfied to feel the way it filled his lungs. He studied his surroundings and it seemed he was alone, in the middle of a forest. His body felt drained, and his head still felt cloudy, so he closed his eyes again.
“Kakashi Sensei?” Said a familiar voice.
“Is he awake?” a deeper voice asked
“I don’t know, I thought I saw him move”
“I don’t think he’s awake”
“Kakashi Sensei, can you hear us?”
Kakashi nodded slightly, eyes still closed due to the sickness, though he know recognized the voices as Kurenai’s three students.
“Try not to move much, Sensei. I’ll go fetch Sakura, Hinata stay here with him. Make sure he’s okay.”
"Yes, of course"
Hinata sat next to him and kept quiet. Her silence was very much appreciated by the tired jonin.
He must’ve fallen asleep again, because when he regained consciousness, Sakura and the Godaime were staring down at him.
“Oh good. You’re awake. I’ve cleaned most of your serious wounds and given you medicine. All that you need to do now is rest so you can restore your chakra.”
The hospital’s cold atmosphere gave him a strange sense of serenity. He didn’t know how he got here, hopefully he hadn’t been too much of a burden on the team.
“Now that we know he’ll survive, tell me, Sakura. What went wrong?” Asked Tsunade as she finished wrapping one last bandage around Kakashi’s arm wound.
The mission was supposed to be simple. Locate and report. He’d done it so many times, and this time, he had a really good team with him. Team 8 and Sakura had come to help him find one of Orochimaru’s rumored hideouts.  With their talents as trackers, they managed to find the location quickly, however, they weren’t expecting to be met with a dozen of Orochimaru’s experiments, led by none other than Kabuto.
The kids were good fighters, but the odds weren’t in their favor with the enemy doubling their own numbers. Kakashi’s instincts had kicked in, so he put himself between the young shinobi and Orochimaru’s men, if one could even call them human. Kakashi took them all out, though it had come at a great cost.
His chakra reserves were almost emptied, and his wounds had caused him to lose too much blood. That’s how he ended up here.
Kakashi was deemed unfit to fill out the mission report, due to his injuries, a silver lining in this mess. Sakura  meticulously explained everything to the Godaime, turning in a beautifully written, and extremely detailed report, unlike the one he would’ve done.
His time in the hospital went by excruciatingly slow. He had a few visits, none very interesting since they all lasted at the most 5 minutes. Everyone was busier, and not even Gai had had the time to entertain him as usual. Kakashi had been desperate to get out of there.
The only thing that seemed to occupy his mind, was the image of the bookseller, as he flipped through the pages of his book. However, that too left him uneasy, as he recalled the images he had seen in his delirium. Whenever he pictured her, a deep fear gripped his heart, as he was reminded of the darkness he’d seen swallow her. Nightmare or not, he needed to get out and see her.
———-
Kakashi was discharged from the hospital two weeks later, just in time or he would’ve attempted an escape.
He now stood in front of the bookstore again. His hand shook as he grasped the handle, but immediate relief hit him when he made contact with the warm metal. He sighed, and pushed the door open, eager to see the face that had haunted his dreams.
"Hello, welcome to Red Leaf Bookshop. Can I help you with anything?" Called out a petite woman from behind the counter. His stomach sank when he realized, it wasn’t whom he’d been looking for.

“So you’re Levi Ackerman?” The woman who had just entered the room looked excited. Too excited.
After being kept waiting that long, Levi was in no mood for anything, especially unnecessary pleasantries. For the past thirty minutes at least, he had been sitting on the couch of a quaint office. It was spacious and there was at least enough room on the couch to elevate his knee comfortably. Probably the reason he had the self control to give a curt nod in reply.
“I’m a fan! I watched a few of your events actually and I’m so glad to have you here,” she said too enthusiastically. She paused for a second and shook her head. “No, I’m horrified about you being injured which caused you to end up here but I’m just really excited to get to know you.”
Levi didn’t feel the need to reply.
She walked to her desk and dropped her canvas bag before sitting on the couch in front of Levi. “Sorry for being a little late. I just came out from another meeting and went out to get something to eat after. Maybe I could give you my number and you could text me if you get here before I do.” She took a post-it out of her purse and scrawled a few numbers on it and slid it towards Levi.
Shouldn’t you have my number? Somehow it was hard to believe that she was a counselor. “Name?” Levi asked.
“Shela. Just call me Shela.”
Levi had met those types of people before who go by nicknames. More often than not, he couldn’t blame them, usually they had a very old fashioned or embarrassing name behind it. He couldn’t believe someone as transparent or excitable as her who didn’t look like she had much control of her filter, would have issues about how embarrassing a name was though.
“I have a very old fashioned first name.” Shela added, only confirming Levi’s suspicions. “Shela
 Sierra - Hotel - Echo - Lima - Alpha.”
Levi typed the name on his phone and saved the number.
Last Name? Academic History? He set the rest of the details aside. As long as he knew her name, he could probably get through enough sessions to at least keep both his coach and Erwin satisfied. Going to a counselor was not his idea after all. It was his coach apparently who had requested it and it was Erwin who had pushed for it. Without twice a day training or even the freedom to go wherever he wanted without being completely exhausted within hours, Levi had not much of anything else to do anyway.
Shela brought out a notebook from her purse, opened it to a bookmark paged and wrote something on it before looking up at him. Levi couldn’t help but note that when she wasn’t looking ashamed or overly enthusiastic and she did look like she knew what she was doing.
“I’m going to skip the question of ‘what brings you here’ because I think we all know why you’re here.” She gestured her pen towards Levi’s leg. “Let’s start with something simple. How are you? How are you feeling today?”
“My knee hurts and I can’t train anymore. But I’m focusing on studies now so I think I’m doing okay.” He answered, having prepared that script in his head the thirty minutes he spent waiting for her.
“I’m not asking how you’re coping. I’m asking how you’re feeling today.” Shela’s piercing eyes were a beautiful shade of blue. The serious look she gave him then bore into him. In fact, it felt like it bore into his soul.
Despite the generally bad first impression she gave him, Levi was somehow convinced that she was qualified to do that type of work and his showing up there might turn out to be worth something after all. Levi found himself almost hypnotized by that look she gave him, a healthy mixture of concern, interest and professionalism.
Hiding and watching his words felt pointless and Levi found himself saying his answers as his brain came up with them.
                                   A Tale of Two Slaves
The hospital where he was slated to have his next sessions was that same hospital he had stayed in a week ago. Conveniently, it was a five minute walk from where he had been staying since he got out of the hospital: Hange’s apartment.
Just until I can walk up stairs. Levi had told himself. There were many dormitories clustered around campus yet he had ended up staying in the least handicap friendly one. The first floor had a lobby and a common room and the actual bedrooms were only found at the second floor and the third floor. To top it all off, there was no elevator. He had to note though that it was an old building with only three floors so it would have been useless to put one.
He was on scholarship and it was assigned to him back in first year so he did not have much of a choice. He didn’t need to think too much of it either that past three years of college since he had never been injured enough to the point of being unable to climb stairs
With his leg completely immobilized and a deadweight, Levi was sure it would be a nightmare to brave that everyday. The paperwork and legwork required to change dormitories in the middle of the semester seemed daunting as well. In the end, Hange had offered to let him stay over in her apartment.
Her condominium was spacious, it had an elevator and it was walking distance from the hospital where he’d have both his counseling and physical therapy sessions.
Walking Distance. For non handicapped people, it should only take five minutes to walk the two block distance from the hospital to the apartment building. Levi took ten minutes to clear it and by the end of it he was exhausted and despite the chill of mid autumn, Levi found himself sweating as he arrived in the apartment.
It was a Friday afternoon, a week after he was released from the hospital. Nobody was pressuring him to go back to school yet. His professors had been kind enough to send him lecture slides and give him extensions. Some classmates had dropped their own summarized notes and get-well messages.
Levi settled on his bed and propped his knee on his pillow, looking through the lecture slides of his last class. Despite his self imposed week long isolation, Levi just wanted to go back to normal life.
But it never will be normal again. Although Levi did see a glimmer of hope in the possibility of feeling normal again when he went back to school, the realist in him knew it wouldn't happen.
Levi was supposed to be in the process of accepting at least that it would never be the “normal” he used to have and had taken for granted. Something inside him was rebelling the process though.
If I can't live the life I want, then I won't live at all. That something screamed inside him.
That form of rebellion left Levi with little energy for anything else. His mind was slower. His body was heavier. He was seeing little reason to move beyond the mechanical and primal movements needed to survive.
As if by magic, his body that used to carry him over two meter tall bars, suddenly felt like it weighed a ton. The weight crushed him everyday. At times Levi found himself unable to breathe. That was he found himself in that same position for sixteen hours a day, either sleeping or staring at the same white ceiling above him.
In fact, the only time he had left the Hange's apartment was for that one counseling session Hange had prodded him to go to. That was the only time she had forced him to go out of the house as if she herself understood somehow the comfort and at the same time the panic that came with a self imposed isolation.
What else was there to do?
He was alone. He had kept to his own bubble in college, only flitting between the two islands of academics and trainings.He was always either busy or exhausted and the lack of in-between had given him little time to reflect on the state of his mental health. And suddenly he had lost one of his islands, the bigger one, the one that had given him meaning the past few years. That had left him completely and utterly lost. Maybe even desolate.
That was what Shela had pointed out in their first counseling session as Levi attempted to articulate the emptiness inside him, the slight panic that came with idleness, the sudden need to turn off all message notifications and the frequent mood changes that came with Hange's entering and exiting the apartment.
And his weird dependence on Hange.
In between studying for his three subjects that semester and icing his bum knee, what else was there to do? Wait for Hange to come home? Talk to her during that one to two hour window when she wasn't working on her thesis? That was what his life had ended up revolving around anyway.
Levi found himself only replying to anything related to studies or graduating. He had received a few messages from others, suggestions to visit training, offers to visit from teammates and he had ignored them all. Somehow, the reminder of the loss of the one hobby that had kept him busy for the past decade of his life, was mocking. He became someone who waits, someone who just went with the flow of everyone's schedule. Having been busy his whole life, having been constantly needed and looked for and only recently, having been reduced to where he was, Levi felt his life was just a series of wrong choices, wrong choices that only formed a distrust with himself and consequently a refusal to engage in activity.
What else am I supposed to be doing? Levi opened his laptop. For a moment he had tried to go through his school notes at Shela’s advice.
After less than an hour of halfheartedly reviewing his notes and forgetting it soon after, Levi had exhausted his already scarce energy. With nothing else to do, he had decided to move to scrolling through timelines which displayed little to no signs of real life obligations, pinterest and reddit to pass the time. Within an hour of just scrolling through both, he had gotten tired of it too. It was a new feeling. Usually he could drown himself in hours of social media and timelines but at that point, nothing was interesting to him anymore.
Have you tried writing out how you feel? Shela’s suggestion echoed in his head. Like maybe get a journal. It’s a great way to process your thoughts and emotions.
What’s there to write. Levi asked himself and Shela’s voice as it echoed in his head. Levi could only stare at the blank screen, his emotions too non-existent to write. The blank document he had opened in front of him was the best representation of his thoughts and emotions already.
There are no right or wrong answers. Shela had brought up another good point during their session.
You think, therefore you are. You feel therefore you are. As long as you’re processing images, sounds and sensations, you’re thinking. You’re feeling something and you can write something down.
Then why do I feel so empty? Levi had asked.
Shela had compared it to a false bottom. As he continued to stare at the blank page in front of him, Levi was starting to feel for that false bottom in his mind. It was a matter of discipline more than anything, determination to dig into one’s self.
It could have taken hours but as Levi looked at the time on his laptop, he realized much time hadn’t passed. In fact, the time to the lower right of his screen, was still the same. But Levi was starting to think differently.
He did have something to look back on. Stories he hadn’t thought back to in a while, having been occupied by training, Hange’s tests, studies and recoveries. They continued to taunt him in the mornings. With the magic of worldly obligations, Levi had managed to set them aside.
His motivations particularly lay in the fact that his world was a little bigger, he was talking to more people and the idea that these same people he was seeing were the same ones he’d been writing fictional stories for had him questioning his own sanity and had him a little self conscious about having those dreams in the first place.
At that moment though, his inability to think and feel beyond that false bottom had Levi more alarmed and he found himself attempting to articulate those dreams on the word processor just to experience a semblance of something.
Levi at least confirmed one thing, that bottom was false. And the more he articulated those dreams, the more they became real. He was starting to scrape on that false bottom and the first things that were oozing out were dreams. Somehow, the dreams were more vivid that he had ever remembered them to be. He felt almost guilty for having set them aside like some sort of fair weathered friend.
“Hey not bad! Is that homework?”
Levi tensed up in surprise. He should have been able to hear the familiar footsteps and the jangle of the keys from his place on the sofa bed. He never missed it once. Levi didn’t know if he should be proud that he had distracted himself enough not to consider Hange or terrified that she was right behind him at that moment, probably reading through his work.
He quickly closed his tab and looked at the time on the lower right. It was only five. Hange usually went home at seven.
“You’re early,” Levi commented.
“It’s my apartment. I can choose when to go home.” Hange answered. “Anyway what was that? Are you writing?”
“A journal,” Levi explained. There was not much point in lying.
“Did the counselor tell you to do that?”
“Yeah. Something about processing emotions and thoughts.”
“It’s a good exercise. Especially since you seemed pretty out of it recently...” Hange trailed off.
Levi looked back at her and noticed a flicker of what looked like guilt in Hange’s eyes before she looked away.
“Out of it?” Levi knew what she was talking about. He just felt the need to keep the conversation going.
“You spent the past weekend just lying in bed. I never even saw you look through your phone or open your laptop. ” Hange explained. “I’ve seen how these types of things develop so... So yeah, I’m just so happy to see you so focused on something else.”
“I don’t really have much else to get into other than school.”
“Yeah, sorry about that,” Hange said.
Levi bit his lip, instantly regretting that last sentence. Hange averaged two apologies a day which was a lot given the fact that they only ever had a two hour window to talk in between Levi’s long hours asleep and Hange’s long hours on campus.
“It wasn’t your fault. I was kinda going crazy too...With the jumping I mean.” He added. “And I was the one who decided to make that last jump in the first place. And now you have to change your whole thesis topic.”
“It wasn’t too difficult. Just one week building a new proposal. It’s still the same case study, it’s just I decided to document a recovery. Erwin’s unconventional methods with the recovery makes it worth documenting.”
“At least I’m still useful somewhere,” Levi commented wryly. Hange had explained the thesis to him over the weekend. He should have been relieved at least to know that they weren’t separating anytime soon. Surprisingly though, he wasn’t even happy to hear it. Everything around him just seemed too bleak to celebrate anything. Good news that used to make him smile and celebrate internally suddenly only made him feel a slight sense of relief, the equivalent emotion of seeing a wet floor sign in an area with slippery floors.
Hange sat on the sofa bed next to Levi and looked towards him. She took a deep breath. “I know with what’s been happening, it looks like you don’t have much going for you. And I know things seem pretty dark now but things will get better. You just have to keep living.”
“I’m still breathing.”
“You know what I mean,” Hange said. “When I get up in the morning you’re asleep. When I get back we talk for an hour and half the time it’s just me talking. You barely even answer when I ask what you want. This past weekend I didn’t even see you look through your phone. It’s like you’re practically dead.”
“What else is there to do. I can’t show up for training. My professors aren’t asking me to go back to school soon.”
“Find a new hobby? Continue whatever thing you’re writing. Enjoy the food I bring home. Laugh when you see a funny meme. Or you know, at least smile and do that nose blowing thing people do when you show them a funny meme..”
“My teammates are preparing for the new season. My classmates are at least all caught up in class. I spent too much damn time on that fucking sport. Now that it’s all gone, I feel like I’m just going with the flow of life instead of actually swimming,” Levi said, having taken that last part from Shela’s book.
“Everyone is just going with the flow of life. We’re all at the mercy of time anyway. Live for yourself. See joy in the small things at least. Look at me, I’m simping for athletes like some idiot in between studies.”
“Live for yourself? You follow people’s orders a lot for someone who gives this type of advice.”
“It’s not obeying people. I’m just asking questions and seeking advice. The more relevant facts, information and experience you have, the better the decisions you can make right. So can’t I argue that having more information at my fingertips makes me freer? ” Hange gave Levi a knowing and playful smile
He could tell by the look she gave him that she expected something in return. It was a rhetorical question though, maybe even a premature victory lap for having won that argument. Levi silently looked back at his laptop, not wanting to let her win.
Hange broke the silence. “Okay now that we’re on the topic of asking questions... who’s that Squad Leader Hange Zoe you’re writing about?”
                                A Tale of Two Slaves
Levi could not pinpoint the exact moment he decided for certain that squad leader Hange Zoe was real, when he decided for himself that the stories he was writing out should have been real.
It came as a gradual decision after incessant questions from Hange that at first, he was determined not to answer. Hange was smart about it, keeping the questions as things that could be answered with one word, and before he knew it, he was giving her too much information, it was pointless to blatantly refuse. After he had answered her more than enough questions, she smiled.
“Looks like you got my personality down,” Hange commented. Levi somehow knew her enough to tell there was no judgement or obligation in that voice. In fact, when he looked into her eyes, he saw that same wonder, he had seen many times before when she witnessed the jumps.
That wonder only carried over from questions on the squad leader to questions on his dreams and finally, to questions on how he wrote his dreams out.
“How do you see the world?”
“How do I see the world?”
“Like what type of camera angles do you see the world in. If I asked you to imagine a tree, what kind of tree do you imagine? Do you imagine it from top to bottom, from trunk to top? Our minds are the most creative producers and cameramen you can think of.”
“Do you notice how well our body blends sensations? When the light turns off then on, there’s a split second where you see shapes when your eyes adjust from light to dark?”
“What are the physical manifestations of emotions? Do you feel your stomach drop? Do you ever get that tingling feeling in your legs and suddenly they’re jelly?”
Did you ever witness something so beautiful that you wish you could live forever just so you could never forget it?
The conversation was a little deep and a little too philosophical for him. It was a ploy to get him writing and maybe a ploy to get him to understand the same wonder she had in the world from what he could tell. Somehow he needed it. The way Hange had described the world, the way she had described reality, only made the line between what could have been his imagination and his memory a little more distinct.
It was around then did he look at Hange Zoe the medical student to see the squad leader from his dreams. Erwin Smith, Hange Zoe and every single one of the soldiers in these dreams. They weren’t just dreams or manifestations of an exhausted mind.
In another life, she could have been real. The angles at which he saw the world, the way his body processed those sensations in his dreams, the manifestations of those emotions, too vivid even more vivid than a catharsis from a good book or a phenomenal ending to a TV show.
The questions continued to echo as Hange turned off the lights and Levi lay in bed awake. That food for the thought left Levi hyper aware of his surroundings, all the way down to the small details --- the way every piece of thread on the bed covers beneath him pressed on to him, the way his breath made a sound in the utter silence late at night no matter how much he tried to quiet it, the way the palpitations in his chest could be felt all the way until his head. He was excited to sleep, dream and take stock of his dreams yet he was too excited to fall asleep.
Like a five year old the night before their first field trip, Levi did not fall asleep anytime soon.
                                        A Tale of Two Slaves
Nobody really questions the logic of dreams.
Sometimes one can find themselves only a few millimeters tall on top of a giant donut. Sometimes they can find themselves having milk tea with their favorite celebrity. Dreams are more felt by the moments they bring to people, not by the logic. It was only natural Levi did not question much of his dreams then.
That night as he lay awake, Levi made the conscious effort to live in his dreams, to take note of every detail from the sights and sounds, to the smells, the emotions, repeating to himself the questions Hange had asked earlier that day. What he had failed to consider then, was the context of dreams.
Were Hange and the others okay?
He found himself on the battlefield and he knew exactly what had to be done. In front of him was a large furry creature which the military had dubbed the Beast Titan and around him were other naked humanoid creatures called titans.
The Beast titan was flinging rocks at them and the soldiers were dying at an alarming rate.
Commander Erwin Smith ordered a suicide mission. All surviving soldiers were to rush towards the Beast Titan while Levi flew from the side of the walls and snuck towards him.
He knew what to do. The movements were natural and Levi had flown before, the gear on his waist had only made the whole mission easier. Somehow, on the battlefield he had the luxury of stock knowledge.
That stock knowledge was what had him slicing through the arms, through the eyes, through the achilles and finally through the nape of said titan. He pulled out a blonde man and pushed the sword through the man’s mouth.
He could feel his blood boiling. From anger? Of course, the man had killed Erwin. For a second, Levi had managed to get a view of the blond commander as he flew from the wall slashing titan after titan. He knew the man was probably dead.
But there was a way to revive him. There was a serum.
Before Levi could give it a second thought, a duck billed monster tore into his view and---
Levi sat up and screamed. He found himself in no hurry to dodge that duck billed titan. He was in Hange's apartment, too injured to be flying in the air in those contraptions anyway. He ran his hands through his body and up to his face, taking stock of his reality. He didn't reek of titan blood nor was he covered in it. He scanned the dark room, or at least what was visible given the moon was his only light source.
Somehow, those few moments as captain Levi had felt so real, watching the moon from his place on the sofa bed seemed almost dreamlike.
Which one is my reality? Levi found himself questioning it all. As quickly as the questions came, they were answered. All he needed was one stimuli, strong enough to root him back into his reality.
"Hey, bad dream?"
The dark room and his own state of mind had made it difficult for him to notice that Hange had settled beside him. That voice though had pulled him out of his trance and he became certain at least that he was not dreaming anymore.
"Yeah," Levi managed to say. At the least he still had control of his voice.
Hange sat cross-legged next to him. The moon was at a perfect angle to illuminate her face and even in the dark room he could see it. Her eyes were looking right at him as if she were studying him a little too seriously.
She brought out one finger to his eye and pushed at the corner. That was when Levi felt it. The small tear spread on the corner of his eye and dried up within seconds. Levi only hastened the process by wiping it himself.
"I'm not leaving you tonight."
"Why?"
"I'll take full responsibility for this. It was my mistake that got you into this in the first place.”
"I've had them before. This is nothing new.” Levi argued. As Hange lay on the sofa bed next to him though, he realized he didn’t want her to leave. His body froze as if understanding that emotion, unwilling to accommodate the protests, the impulse inside him to argue, to force her to go back to her room.
The sofa bed was at least big enough for both of them, wide enough for a comfortable one to two feet space between them. Hange had made sure as well to lie on her side, only widening that space a little more.
“I don’t know how many times I’ve told you this but I swear I really do mean it every time. I’m sorry.” Her voice cracked as she said it.
Levi only continued to stare at the ceiling above him, listening to her disturbed and hitched breaths next to him as if she was holding back something. He didn’t want to look to his side, not wanting to further aggravate a reaction he sensed was raring to come out of her or to further tighten that knot which had settled itself on his chest. His dim surroundings only illuminated weakly by the moon, did not help at all.
Levi lay awake for a while longer, scrambling for words that could placate her.
This is nothing new. It hadn’t worked.
I’m fine. But he wasn’t.
Things happen. Had he not given that same consolation so many times before?
Eventually the rhythm of her breathing evened out enough for Levi to guess that she had fallen asleep, and as if by some special force, Levi found his breathing slowing down too. He was starting to relax.
The apartment was dark and quiet. It was peaceful, so peaceful that Levi never did notice when exactly he was pulled back into his dream. The dimness of the apartment was gradually replaced by the dimness of the forest a long time ago. The distant sounds of passing cars gradually replaced by the crackle of a fire and the rustle of leaves on a windy night.
He was surrounded by trees. A broken wooden cart lay to the side and a few feet away from it a campfire.
The soft and even breathing next to him stayed though. The same exact pattern, the same exact rhythm, the same hitched breaths--- all signs of the light uneasy slumber of his companion.
That was all Levi needed to hear to have sworn nothing much changed about her.

Imagine #69
How timely that this imagine is the 69th (I promise you, I did not do it on purpose) I have. Also, hope all is doing okay during this quarantine. Can’t believe that the last time I’ve updated here was last year.
Summary: Isaac’s injured and can’t do *fondue (hope my readers know where this came from) – much to his dismay – and you decided to make fun of the situation he was in and tease.
Warning(s): Mentions of blood/wounds, innuendos (children, please), censored curses, sexual frustration maybe?
~~~
“I’m not yet supposed to dive into these kinds of duties and yet,” you mumbled under your breath, and you were sure Isaac heard it.
“I’m not even licensed yet,” you added with an exasperated breath.
Isaac only cocked his head to the side to look at your face that was bowed down, he was trying to catch your attention with the small smile on his face coaxing you to look at him.
You were currently tending to his wounds the best you can with the best that you have in your first aid kit – that was slowly depleting of its supplies of bandages and disinfectants, the more frequent Isaac came home to your apartment wounded. Actually, your first aid kit was getting closer to what Melissa had in her first aid at the hospital what with the needles and thread for more severe gashes.
You sighed, your dabbing motion on the wound with the antiseptic getting a bit harder and heavier with how Isaac’s face started to wince from the pressure.
“Are you unhappy with me?” He asked quietly, his face a bit closer to you now with the smile replaced by a small pout on those soft pink lips.
At that question, you looked up to meet those blue eyes that instantly faded all the frustration you felt at that very moment.
“No, Isaac.” You sighed again, this time smiling softly. “I’m not.”
Isaac straightened in his seat and gave you the knee-buckling smile he only reserved for you before proceeding to plant a kiss on your forehead and a peck on your lips.
“Great!” He suddenly exclaimed rather loudly that made you jerk in surprise, your brows furrowed at the sudden change. “Then can you please help me with these?”
He then proceeded to turn around in his seat and remove his shirt to show you larger gashes on his back. Unbelievable!
“Isaac fkn Lahey!” Your night was going to be long one.
~
Since the wounds were from an alpha, Scott informed you that it would take longer to heal. Which meant you were going to change and redress his wounds every so often – which at this moment, you were thankful Melissa decided to also drop by some medical supplies.
“Hope you’re doing fine on your reviews,” she mentioned while she arranged the bandages and needles in your own toolbox (aka first aid).
“I was. Until Isaac came in that state,” you gestured to the werewolf seated on the sofa having a rather deep conversation with Scott about what happened to them last night.
“Well if you have any questions, you can always ask me.” She smiled, knowing that someone studying for the licensure exam for Nursing would be so much helpful with someone already in the field to help you with your studies.
“I will, thank you.” You answered with a smile.
After Scott and his mom left, you went back to your position in the living room – you on the floor with your review notes and textbooks on the coffee table and Isaac lying on the couch idly scrolling through his phone.
He was sipping on your coffee when a thought popped in your head.
“Can I ride you?”
You can hear Isaac spurt the coffee out back into the mug and spilling some on his shirt.
You weren’t sure if it was possible for Isaac’s head to look at you so fast you were scared that he might decapitate himself, his eyes were dark and wide and you had to keep yourself from laughing at the expression he had on his face right now.
“I’m sorry, what?” he blinked a few times before taking a deep breath.
“You heard me.” You replied plainly, turning around and facing your werewolf with your arm now resting on the sofa beside his torso and the other resting on your knee that was propped up. You had your chin resting on the back of your head, looking rather innocently at Isaac – which internally he had to fight with himself from taking you then and there due to you studying – and his injuries.
“I asked if I can ride you, your wolf I mean.”
Isaac carefully placed the mug back on the coffee table before running his hands on his face with a rather frustrated sigh.
“Y/N, I love you.” He pursed his lips before trying to sit himself up on the sofa.
“But you can’t ride me-my wolf.” He coughed a little as he answered. “I’m injured, plus I can’t shift yet.”
You could only stare back at those blue eyes that were growing darker as you can feel Isaac’s sexual frustration – his abstinence was rather extended with the state he was in.
When he couldn’t take the sudden thought of you bouncing on top of him from your question earlier, he excused himself as he took your coffee mug to refill it.
1-0, you tallied in your head as you watched him in the kitchen with a sly smile.
~
You can see Isaac at the corner of your eyes watching you intently, his phone completely forgotten now.
Flipping another page of your textbook, his eyes just twitched the slightest at the sound of you sucking. He leaned his head back against the backrest of the armchair to the right of the living room before he groaned and closed his eyes. He wasn’t sure if you were doing it on purpose or if you just didn’t hear yourself because you had your in-ear earphones on as you studied.
It went on like this for about 5 minutes, with that wretched thing moving back and forth inside your mouth until you turned your head to see him staring at you with his mouth slightly hanging with his tongue on the corner of his mouth and his eyes darkening the longer he stared at you. You raised a brow as if to ask him ‘what?’ before chomping down on the popsicle and smiling at him.
Isaac’s eyes widened at what he just saw, he never knew that he could feel so aroused yet scared shtless at the same time.
“Baby,” he finally spoke, your pet name sounding rather husky as it came out of his mouth as he carded his fingers through the mop of curls on top of his head.
“Yep?” you answered with a pop on the letter P of the word.
“What are you doing?” He asked.
“Studying, what does it look like I’m doing?” You asked back.
“Want one?” You offered when he didn’t answer. “There’s a different flavor in the freezer.”
My god she’s playing with me. Isaac thought, pinching his nose bridge when you looked away and continued what you were doing with your mouth.
2-0, you tallied again in your head.
~
When you got out of the building and saw Isaac casually leaning against his car in the parking lot of the establishment, you felt butterflies in your stomach at how much the moment reminded you of the first time he picked you up after school when both of you only started dating.
“There’s my topnotcher!” He congratulated, his arms already open wide as he caught you in a big warm hug. You were still careful with him since his wounds were still present, though it wasn’t as grave as before. “How was it?”
“It was hard,” you groaned against his chest before looking up. “But I guess my hard work paid off.”
“I bet,” Isaac hugged you to himself one more time before kissing your head. “C’mon, the pack’s been waiting at the old diner to celebrate.”
“Wait, they know?” You asked, pausing in his arms before you let Isaac open the car door for you and help you in.
“Of course they know, I couldn’t help boast that I have a smart ass for a girlfriend.” He said before closing your door and walking to the driver’s side.
Buckling your seatbelt and waiting for him to settle down, you giggled a little as you started feeling your phone vibrate with congratulatory notifications from your friends and family.
“You love this smart ass,” you scoffed, liking the feeling of being praised at that moment.
“I do love your ass,” he replied, winking at you before sliding his sunglasses back and revving the car.
You couldn’t help but feel your cheeks get flustered at the gesture and how he looked good on the driver’s seat right now. Despite being together for how many years now, you can’t help but feel like the two of you are still ‘new’ in the dating scene.
It was one of those things you loved about Isaac, the way he made you feel like you were still in high school with his hand holding yours as it rests on your lap while he drove. He would occasionally kiss your knuckles and rest his warm cheek against it, telling you how much he loved you to bits.
 It wasn’t a long drive before you arrived to see your friends already settled in and ordering.
When the bell above the door of the diner rang, all eyes on the table landed on you and it was full of loud cheers. Hugs and high-fives were exchanged before you all settled down.
“Can’t believe we already have a doctor in the pack,” Liam said rather proudly, Mason and the boys agreed.
“Mm, not yet.” You paused him, swallowing the fries you were just chewing. “I’ll be studying for that in the future, just you wait.”
Lydia cut in with a smile. “We’re all so proud of you, Y/N!”
“Bet you nailed everything,” Stiles added, his arm resting behind Lydia.
“Sleepless nights and coffee paid off,” you repeated from earlier.
“I’d also like to make a special mention to Mrs. McCall,” you eyed Scott. “Remind me to thank her later when we drop by your place.”
“Couldn’t have done it without her help too, you know.” You added.
“Don’t forget to thank yourself,” Isaac reminded you, knowing how much time and effort you did and made possible for you to be able to be at the top ten.
“Yeah, I guess so.” You agreed. “Fist me.”
3-0, you tallied again in your head.
Everyone at the table had mixed reactions at what they heard.
Milkshake came out of Liam’s nose as Mason almost choked on the cola he was drinking before handing Liam a tissue. Scott and Stiles mouth flew open as fries and chewed burger dropped down on their plates, the ladies blushed when they heard it before looking to you with a questioning look at what you meant.
Isaac was still coughing as he hit his chest with a fist.
“Y/N!” Lydia called for you in a scolding manner.
“What?” You said, chuckling a little when you only had a fist lifted for Isaac to fist bump it.
“Don’t leave me hanging, babe.” You called for Isaac who was still struggling to understand what he just heard.
~
Hope that was okay! Missed writing for Isaac <3
Different Worlds (3)
Summary: You’re the youngest Winchester, a girl who needs to show her big brothers that she doesn’t need help. Then one day, on a totally normal vampire hunt that you had all under control, three meddling Avengers come barging in.
Warnings: language, violence, canon divergence, slow burn, me making stuff up
Word Count: 2011
A/N: This is basically how I’m going to update this series: like two a day and then a multiple month hiatus.
~*~
Chapter 3: Trouble On the Horizon
You sat in the booth, squished up to the wall because of a large, dark-haired supersoldier next to you. Across from you, the Falcon was happily eating his burger with Captain America next to him. You quickly sent a message to Sam and Dean telling them that you were fine and that you would meet them back at the bunker.
“Sooo
” you prompted the superheroes before you took a bite of your burger.
“What happened back there?” the man next to you asked and turned his steel-blue eyes on to you.
You took your time before answering, chewing your food, swallowing, and then taking a sip of your drink. “That was Mr. Robert Walker.”
“Why’d he do those disappearing tricks?” the Falcon asked.
“‘Cause he’s dead.” The men raised their eyebrows simultaneously. “Robert Walker and his wife, Petra, died in like 1970 or something.”
“So he was a ghost?” Captain America clarified.
“Yep.” You popped the ‘p.’ “They, or their ghosts, were responsible for a couple of recent deaths ‘round here.”
“Why?”
“Spirits do things for different reasons.” You shrug. The three men were actually listening intently. “Some want revenge or just keep killing the way they killed people when they were alive.”
“You’ve done this before?”
“‘Course!” you snort. “‘S my job.”
“You’re a ghost hunter?”
“Sure.” You took a long sip of your drink.
“Why did you kill everyone at the bar? Pretty fucking sure they weren’t ghosts,” the Winter Soldier spat at you. His friends raised their eyebrows slightly in surprise at his tone.
“Yeah
 that was a colony of vamps.”
“Vampires?” the Falcon asked with a smile and wide eyes.
“Yes, vampires!” You mimic his expression before dropping it quickly and resuming your so-called ‘resting bitch face.’ It was important to look intimidating in this line of work.
“Why did you have to cut off their heads?” Captain America sat back and crossed his arms.
“How else was I supposed to kill ‘em?”
“Did you have to kill them?”
Uhg. This is why. This is why the hunters stayed away from goodie two shoes, ass-kissing heroes. They always wanted to find a way to save people. Even if they were too far gone. Even if they were so blatantly monsters.
“Yes, I had to kill them. It’s. My. Job.”
“So there are ghosts and vampires,” the Falcon said to change the topic, “what else?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know.” Your friendly mood had disappeared. Your back ached from where Mr. Walker threw you against the wall and you were tired. “I’m done here.”
“How’s your arm?” the blue-eyed man next to you asked, stopping your ‘escape attempt’ of climbing over the back of the seat.
“Whadya mean?”
“Last time, with the vampires, you injured your arm.”
Well, you didn’t expect this. Especially from the Winter Soldier. You could tell he wasn’t satisfied with your answers, or lack of them, but at the same time, he was actually asking about your injury.
“‘S all healed.” You pulled down your shirt from the collar to show them. Cas had been useful and fixed you up. No ugly puncture wounds today.
“How?” You looked at the man for more explanation. “How did you heal so fast. It was only a week ago.”
“Mag-my friend is really good at patching people up.” There was a beat of silence. “Can I go home now?”
“We’ll take you home.”
“Thank you, Mister America.”
“Call me Steve.” You narrowed your eyes at the patriotic man. “My name is Steve Rogers. We know all about you, might as well tell you about us.”
“You don’t know anything about me,” you mumbled as the Falcon introduced himself as Sam. “My brother’s name is Sam.” They probably already knew that.
“We know.”
“I’m James Barnes,” the Winter Soldier less enthusiastically than his teammates who gave him a sharp look. “But my friends call me Bucky.”
You snorted. “Bucky? What kinda name’s ‘Bucky?’”
“It’s from his middle name, Buchanan,” Steve explained while Bucky glared at you.
“Well then, Bucky. You were going to take me home?”
You had the superheroes drop you off in St. Louis, Missouri. You had a motorcycle in a storage cell in the city. Your brothers didn’t need you bringing some superheroes to the front door. Who knew if they were going to continue to show up?
You loitered around the city for a while after they left, just in case they were still watching you. You’ve never gotten the opportunity to explore St. Louis before due to, you know, being wanted by the FBI. Today, you still kept your head low.
About an hour after the superheroes left you, you made your way to the storage compound with a Starbucks drink in your hand. You smiled when your black, retro motorcycle caught your eye. It had been a while since you last rode. You dusted off your helmet, because it would be a sad ending for a hunter to go out because of a simple road accident, before swinging your leg over the vehicle. Time to go home.
~*~
Bucky sat in the quinjet, this time with the rest of the team. A Hydra base they had just recently raided had shown signs of activity. Somehow, he couldn’t get his mind to focus on the current mission. Didn’t he not want to go on that little case a week ago? Now he couldn’t get (Y/N) off his mind.
No, she wasn’t stuck in his head because he thought she was pretty. Or very capable of taking care of herself. Even though she did look very nice with her shotgun. No. (Y/N) was only occupying his mind because there was a mystery surrounding her and Bucky had to get to the bottom of it.
Obviously by talking to (Y/N) more. That wasn’t a bad thing. Good thing Sam couldn’t read his thoughts.
Bucky peeked at Wanda sitting a few seats away. She had her earphones in, no doubt to block out everyone’s thoughts. She mentioned before that everyone was loud before missions but music helped.
He still had the niggling worry that (Y/N) and her brothers had something to do with Hydra. Or Hydra had something to do with them. Did Hydra know about ghosts and vampires? Bucky knew how many experiments they performed on people. He’s pretty sure that they tried to make vampires once. That didn’t end well with anyone.
The rough landing of the quinjet and Clint’s incessant apologies from the cockpit pulled Bucky out of his thoughts. They left the plane in sets of three: him, Steve, and Sam (of fucking course); Natasha, Clint, and Wanda; Tony, Rhodey, and Vision.
Tony’s team tackled the outside forces as Nat’s team took the north entrance. Bucky’s team made it into the south entrance with ease. They faced very little opposition as they made their way down the halls of the facility. Bucky hoped and assumed that it was because Hydra didn’t have the manpower.
“Guys, look at this,” Sam called down the hallway from a random room.
Steve and Bucky followed Sam into the room. It was dimly lit and empty save for a couple of cans of red paint in the corner and a large book on a stand in the middle of the floor. Sam had opened the book and was flipping through the yellowed pages.
“What’s this?” Bucky walked up to him and the book while Steve kept an eye out on the hallway.
“I dunno. Can’t read it.” When Sam flipped through, Bucky noticed strange symbols decorating the pages. “Woah,” Sam exclaimed when he landed on a certain page. “Didn’t know Hydra did this kinda stuff.”
The page displayed a large red pentagram along with instructions in what Bucky assumed was Latin. Even though he couldn’t read the words, the star spoke enough. A chill went down his spine and his mind instantly went to (Y/N). Was this part of her world?
“Let’s take it,” Bucky suggested. “Don’t want to leave it with them.”
“What’s all this?” Nat interrupted.
“What are you doing here?” Sam spun around quickly.
“The building’s clear. I was doing our job while you were having a book club.”
“Apparently Hydra’s into some weird shit.” Bucky motioned to the pentagram on display.
“Fuck,” Natasha mumbled as her eyes searched the pages. “Looks like Hydra was planning some Satanic ritual.” Her words echoed through the comms.
“You can read Latin?” Sam asked.
“Let’s just get out of here,” Bucky grumbled, grabbed the large book, and marched out of the room.
~*~
“We have a problem,” Cas announced, suddenly appearing and startling everyone in the previously quiet room.
“Hello to you too, Cas,” Dean smirked.
“Hi, Cas!” Jack beamed at one of his many father figures.
“What is it?” Sam rationally asked. You closed the book you weren’t really reading and took your feet off the table to sit up and look more attentive.
“Lucifer is trying to take heaven.”
“Again?” You fiddled with your new ring.
You had found it on the ground in one of the storage rooms in the bunker. Jack didn’t find anything malevolent on it, but he said that it could store energy and magic. At your request, he had filled it with healing magic. You really didn’t want to die. Again.
“Yes, again,” Cas answered. You paused for a second before remembering your question before losing your train of thought.
“This isn’t really a problem anymore,” Dean pointed out. “Just a monthly chore.”
“Weekly, actually,” Cas corrected. “He would try to break out every Saturday, but he had ceased his attempts for the last five weeks.”
Lucifer was being held in Heaven, or you supposed he used to be held there considering he was now trying to gain control. The angels decided to lock him in Heaven because it was easier than trying to shove him back into the cage. It also kept him away from his demonic minions.
“He broke out and now is gathering forces to take Heaven?” Dean guessed.
“Sounds like my father,” said Jack under his breath and you gave him a small, sympathetic rub on the back.
“Yes,” continued Cas. “He’s already recruited some witches to find a book of spells. He’s looking for the Magicae Libro.”
“The
 Magic Book?” you laughed. “Creative.”
“They didn’t need to be creative when it was the only one.”
“Right, sorry. So what is the Magicae Libro, other than a magic book?”
“It was the first spellbook. Written by some of the first witches, directly advised by Lucifer. Because of the power basically woven into the pages, the spells and rituals cast using the book are more powerful.”
“That’s a thing?” Sam ran his hand through his hair.
“We gotta get to it before the witches bring it to Lucifer, then,” Dean spoke over his brother.
“Any idea where we start?” Jack asked plainly.
“Maybe ask our own witch to get it for us,” you suggested. “Rowena’s always in it for the power and she would want the Magicae Libro for herself.”
“Rowena is unpredictable,” Cas argued.
“She’s gotten better, though.”
“Don’t let her hear you say that,” Dean butted in. “She’d kill a bunch of people just out of spite.”
“We can let her take the book once Lucifer is under control once again.”
“We promised her powerful books before.” Cas wasn’t giving it to her.
“And the deals worked. We’re all still alive. The same deal can work again.”
“I am not giving the Magicae Libro to Rowena!”
“Then you and Jack go looking for it.”
“Jack is going nowhere,” Cas growled. “His father will be looking for him. We don’t want Lucifer to find the book and Jack in the same place.”
“Then we ask Rowena for help.”
“No.”
“I can do it,” Jack agreed.
“No!” All three men yelled at the boy.
“Jack or Rowena.” You held out your hands and moved them up and down like a scale. “Jack or Rowena. Pick one.”
“Fine.” Cas glared at the table. “Call Rowena.”
I guess I have to ask again *takes out gun* Bunn please give me details about that au wip you just posted and... I won't hesitate Bunn!!
You can't kill me in a way that matters nonny
Go ahead
Take the shot
I'm trying to find it but I think I posted the plot synop before (turns out I didn’t but there is an opening of it posted https://bittybattybunny.tumblr.com/post/646414262968991744/haveee-a-snippet-i-wrote-for-the-take-on-me here)
It's based on "take on me" and my love of isekais
i’ve messed with it a bit since my original postings (like Luna is now Lunette as I like the sound better, Rose was the victim of isekai and is not happy about it because he was promised he’d get to go home but you can’t go home WHEN YOU ARE DEAD, just that kinda thing)
Okay so basic rundown time which means it’s ‘bun is about to ramble’
Rose Thatcher was a young writer who was the childhood best friend of Lunette Guardian a young comic artist. The two of them were inseparable and both had feelings for the other, however neither acted on them (Well. Rose did in his own way but it wasn’t a healthy way. He used to date around to try making Lunette jealous enough to confess cuz she made really cute faces when she was jealous)
However in their mid 20s Rose was in a traffic accident (and no not the normal truck kun. His motorcycle hit black ice) And just like that, Lunette lost the most important person in her world.
A few months after his funeral she was out drinking (as she’d developed a problem to cope with the loss of Rose) and wound up in a shop called “Clockwork Rose” where a strange woman took the color of her eye and gave her a journal. no one seemed to notice the change and even the photos of her had changed so she didn’t think on it. But after drawing Rose in her new journal, that night when sleeping she met a young prince named Thorn (the snippet i posted last night) And when she woke the next day got to work drafting a new story. That night she dreamt of him again and he was in tears. When she had woken up for her world, in his world, she’d collapsed into petals and stardust which had him freaked out.
Lunette and Thorn grow closer and Thorn tells her his story, how he is an other worlder like her but instead of being transported he was born in that world with his past life memories. He explains he was promised the chance to return, but now fears due to information he’s learned he was lied to. He also admits he thought she was a phantom at first of his lost lover which gets her flustered.
Thorn has to go away to fight and he asks Lunette to not dream of him for at least 3 months, because that’s how long his trip is and he fears if she wanders without him around what will happen. However they can’t stop it and after a month she winds up in the middle of a battlefield. Thorn is gutted when she’s injured in front of him. (thankfully since shes dreaming she just wakes up)
Lunette finds herself unable to sleep, even with sleep aides, ever since she was attacked. She can’t get her hands to let her draw and she feels the same hopelessness she had when she lost Rose all over again. With Thorn she had felt a bit of closure over the loss of her friend because he was so similar.
She ends up over doing it on alcohol and passes out but finds herself trapped. There’s a powerful demon who warns her to play her role and maybe she’ll be let go, it’s a shame they brought the wrong one over.
Lunette asks what that means and the demon explains, Lunette is the saintess. and she was the one who was supposed to die and be brought over to fight the demon to death. The two should die in order to rebalance the world.
Lunette is very afraid and can’t get herself to wake up.
Thorn and his party arrive and are able to get her out and the demon laughs at their attempts. Thorn says he refuses to lose her a second time when he gave up so much and is able to beat the demon.
Returning to Thorn’s kingdom they have a talk and Thorn is upset (this is the snippet I reblogged that’s written by hand) that Lunette doesn’t realize something important. While talking he finally just kisses her and she finally picks up on what he’s been saying for months.
Thorn IS Rose.
He explains he was so elated when he first saw her in the field, and how he’s loved getting to know her all over again and he’s sorry she was dragged into his mess. Before she’s able to respond though she’s woken up in the ER where she was brought after she’d collapsed from her drinking binge.
She’s devastated she’s basically lost him again and the journal is out of pages so no more dreams come.
She gives up drinking and continues her comic based on Thorn and finishes it with a happy ending that she wishes he was able to get, for him and for her.
While she’s sitting in a park after her comics final update she’s lifted from the bench to her shock.
And there’s Thorn.
He explains the Space witch who had told him he could go home returned after she’d left and he’d been in mourning and offered him a way back, all it took was the sword he’d slayed the demon with.
While he no longer can exist as “Rose” Thorn and Lunette are happy to be reunited and can see each other when both are awake and keep each other safe as they always dreamed
yup owob
Too Soon (Part 1)
Dean Winchester x Reader
A/n: This is my rewritten/edited part one to Too Soon! Since Season 15 is coming back soon I thought I would go through and edit the chapters. I hope y'all enjoy! ( Also I will only be tagging the spn taglist for the first part, as not to annoy some people. If you want to be updated on this series just send me an ask!)
Warnings: Worried!Dean, character death, season 14 spoilers.
Summary: When the reader is suddenly killed by Jack, a series of events unfolds that leaves both the alive and the deceased stunned.
Tumblr media
“Hello Y/N, my name is Jessica.”
The voice was sudden, making you whirl around on the spot, hands reaching for your gun purely out of instinct. Your eyes instantly locked on a lone female before you, eyebrows knotting together in confusion. Just a moment ago you had been talking to Jack.
Now. . .well now he was nowhere to be seen.
“Forgive me for asking but where the hell did you come from?” You questioned, taking a step closer to the unknown woman.
“I’m a reaper. I’m here to lead you to your next life.”As she said it, you could see a gentle smile slip onto her face, for an instant you swore you caught a hint of sadness or pity hidden within her eyes as well. You took a step back, mind reeling with the answer she had just given you.
“That- that can’t be right. Because if that were true. That would mean- that would mean I’m dead. And I-I can’t be dead.” You stumbled over the words, trying desperately to make sense of what was happening.
No. No you couldn’t be dead. That didn’t make sense.
“I’m sorry. I understand that you're shock.” Jessica stepped forward, reaching out her hand, waiting patiently for you to take it, clearly prepared to take you through the veil-- But you didn’t notice. Your mind was trying to piece together what had happened.
Jack. You had been talking to Jack. He was upset and angry and you had been trying to calm him down. He was yelling, god he was yelling so much- and then there was a blast.
Blast.
“Oh god.” Your hand flew to your mouth as your mind caught up to you. You knew deep down Jack never meant to hurt you, but you also knew he could still be unpredictable at times. You felt the burn of oncoming tears in your eyes as your body sunk the the ground, heels pressing hard into the eye sockets.
Fuck, fuck, fuck-
Your head was spinning at a million miles an hour until it hit a brick wall of one solid thought that towered above all the rest.
Dean. Oh no, Dean didn’t know. Neither did Sam or Cas. A choked sob left your lips as the tears finally spilled over your lashes. That one person repeatedly flashing in your mind. Dean. You had known him practically all your life, and loved him for at least half of it. You always told yourself that one day you would tell him. Except now with your current situation, that was clearly never going to happen.
Dean. Dean with his big green eyes, and freckled splashed face,Dean with his dumb jokes and secretly dorky personality.  There were so many things you loved about that man, from the way he laughed to the terrible jokes he cracked and everything in between. His rare but big smile and his even bigger heart. You were never supposed to fall in love with your best friend, but its a difficult thing not to do when that person was Dean.
You flinched slightly when Jessica knelt down in front of you, forgetting the reapers presence.
“Don’t worry. He loved you too, and for a very long time I might add.”
You looked up into Jessica’s eyes, your own slightly glazed with confusion.
“How do you know?” the question leaving your lips in barely a whisper as you fought to ignore the hot tears trekking down your face. Jessica stood up, waiting for you to rise to her level.
“I’ve been watching over you and the Winchester’s for a long time. I pay attention.” She smiled. You nodded, immediately seeing that she was telling the truth. She reached out her hand again.
“Are you ready to go?”
Ready to go? That was such a heavy question. You had never exactly feared death. In truth it was just another beginning, right? You paused, thinking it through. There was nothing else for you to do here. You couldn't just stride back into the land of the living and back to your life and family. The only option was to take her outstretch hand.
“As long as you promise to do something for me.” You stated firmly, sliding your hand into hers before rising to your feet with a shaky breath.
“Of course. Anything.” She smiled. You nodded again, finally accepting your fate you reached out and took her hand.
*. *. *. *.
Dean knew something was wrong the moment you didn’t pick up your phone. You were the type of person to always answer no matter what. It was a rarity if you didn't answer. So when the phone went through its cycle of rings eventually getting to your voicemail, he took a deep inhale to calm himself.
“Hello, you have reached the voicemail of Y/N Y/L/N. I’m sorry I didn’t answer your call. I’m just waiting for more important people to call. If I hear your message and deem you worthy or the title “important,” I will think about calling you back, but for now. Bye!”-Beep-
Lowering his phone from his ear, Dean looked down at the screen, your profile picture staring brightly up at him. Your face scrunched as you stuck your tongue out. In any other occasion he probably would have smiled, but instead he just let out a light “Damn it-” before slipping it back into his pocket.
He hated that you had ventured out alone to go find Jack. He should have gone with you. He should have dropped everything and just gone with you. Now you could be in trouble and in need of assistance. What if you were injured . . .or worse?
The Winchester brothers then proceeded to launch into action the moment they agreed something was not right. They had Rowena going through every page of the Book of the Damned looking for a tracking spell, and Cas was trying to find Jacks last known whereabouts.
“Anything?” Dean huffed, momentarily stopping his continuous pacing to look over at his brother, who was currently hunched over his laptop trying desperately to track Jacks phone. They had tried tracking yours earlier, only to find your phone sitting on one of the vacant tables in the library untouched and almost out of battery . He expected Sam to respond with yet another Nope but was surprised when he heard something else.
“Dean, check this out.” Sam swiveled his laptop around to face him, pointing at Jacks icon.
“Wait- is he flying?” The two brothers watched as the icon pinged to another location, and then another before landing firmly on an empty area in Nebraska. After a minute of no change, Dean was rushing towards the door, wrapping his jacket around him and grabbing the keys to the impala.
Sam knew there was no holding his brother back, especially when it came to your safety. The younger Winchester exhaled before slamming the laptop shut and following the fading heels of his brothers boots.
*. *. *.
Dean had practically been white knuckling the steering wheel since he slipped into the drivers seat. He was silently trying to calm himself down, but it just wasn’t working.
You were fine. You were fine. You were safe and alive and completely out of harms way. You were fine.
“Oh crap.” Sam's sigh of frustration yanked Deans eyes away from the road.
“What?” His voice thick with worry as he watched his brother flick through his phone.
“I lost Jacks signal. His phone must have died.”
The older Winchester let out a string of curses before slamming his foot harder on the gas. And with that a two hour drive was cut down to a smooth 45 minutes.
Dean immediately made out your car when the slowly pulled to a stop at the end of the old dirt road the gps had sent them down, the vehcile parked alone in front of an old run down cabin. The impala had barely been put into park before the older Winchester was launching himself out of his seat and running foreword, flashlight in hand.
“You go inside, I’ll check around back.”
“Got it.”
It didn’t take long for Dean to find something out of the ordinary, as he stepped through the trees his eyes widened, jade irises filled with confusion and worry. He didn’t have to call for Sam before he heard the loud footsteps running towards him. No words were exchanged as Dean knelt down, running his fingers along the earth, pulling up ash. The light of their flashlights panning over the charred and blackened earth that stretched out for several yards.
Dean needed to find you, and quickly . . .
Greetings~! Welcome to my blog!
Tumblr media
Just a little introduction, and some rules along with it~! ^^
Hello~! My name is Brianna but you may call me Bree~ I like to write stories, and create my own characters and such- It's what makes me happy~! And I love when I get to act like my OCs and interact with people! So, I created this blog~! (Sorry this post is quite long so be ready to read-)
To start out this blog, I have 7 OCs I will be making introductions for, so you can find out some about them, and interact with asks!
I have 2 OCs from Black Butler, 3 OCs from Diabolik Lovers, and 2 OCs from My Hero Academia! (I have many many more OCs soon to be added to this blog once I get consistent and completely settled in!)
Theres a brief intro to each at the bottom of the page!
((I write better than what I did there I swear-))
In the meantime, here are the
Rules:
No NSFW asks PLEASE! They make me very uncomfortable, and any asks I think might be dirty in any way, I will not answer.
Please make sure you put the OCs name in parenthesis or brackets so I am aware of which OC you are talking too! Ex." [To Arabella] I love your outfit! "
Please be kind! I will not accept hate comments or anything of the sort towards a subject, opinion, or an OC!
PLEASE "tag" or label accordingly to anything, slightly, definitely, or mildly triggering, even if you're not sure! I just want to make sure that everyone can scroll through my blog without having to be weary! Ex. [TW death]
Please do not flood the askbox or get mad that I don't answer right away! I can't always be online for I have a life to live outside of social media. This is purely for fun! ^^
Please no asks about r*ape, inc*st, pe*dophilia, or anything of the sort! Talk of those subjects will not be tolerated on this blog!
I am the admin to this account, therefore, I am allowed to reject or ignore ANY ask if need be.
((Rules will be updated, should the need arise.))
Bye for now~!
((OC info under read more!!))
Tumblr media
Kyoko Komori (DL) ((OC based off the anime. Though I've heard plenty about the games, I have not yet played them, so if I get some things wrong I apologize in advance.))With Kyoko everything is the same. Yui has Cordelias heart and such and was supposed to be sent to the brothers. However, in this universe, Yui has an older sister, one year apart, whom has also been adopted, except she knows it. When she overhears something about her younger sister, her only sister, being sent away to vampires, she decides to take her place. To protect her.
Tumblr media
Alyssa Freeman (MHA) ((I have not watched the entirety of MHA yet, and really I don't plan too anytime soon. So if I get anything wrong please correct me, and spoilers to the anime for me are welcomed. Let's just act like I've seen it all-)) Alyssa hates villains. And heros for that matter. All of them. When her apartment was destroyed from a casualty in a battle, Alyassa labeled heros as reckless and careless of the people around them. Herself and her little brother where heading back to the apartment, when she saw it crumbling down. Her parents and grandparents still inside, along with her best friend who was going to surprise Alyssa with a visit. Now she lives on the streets, doing whatever she can to provide for herself and her little brother.
Tumblr media
Ongaku Yamada Aizawa (MHA) ((Again, haven't seen it, let's just pretend I have. Also this OC is in result of a ship. I don't really ship it, but I thought both their powers together would be cool so I thought, why not?)) When Ongaku was young, she was always bullied in 1st and 2nd grade for having two dads. One time, she got in trouble for heavily injuring a student with her voice quirk. You can insult her all you want, but not her dads. So, in 3rd grade, she kept a lie she created, that she only has one dad, Erasure Head Shota Aizawa, and that her mother died when she was born. Turns out the lie worked pretty well, people loved her and she was seen as an icon for having a prohero as a father. Shes was usually a quiet person, kept to herself, no friends, only spoke when spoken too. It was just her, her drawings and her music in her headphones. To this day, she keeps the lie, and keeps her distance, even at her new school, in U.A. (She also develops a major crush on Tenya Iida while there.👀)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lilly and Lila Sakamaki (DL) ((Just thought I'd make one description for both bc they're twin sisters. This is also result of a ship. Ayato x Yui.)) Lilly and Lila are polar opposites despite their similar looks. Lila loves the cutesy, pink, flower stuff, and Lilly is all "tough" and "all that" (When shes really insecure-) Lilly is extremely protective over her sister, and possive too. She doesn't let any man even glance in her general direction. Basically if a man wants to ask Lila out, hes gonna have to go through some interrogation. Lila loves her sister deeply, and is basically like her sisters personal therapist. Lilly will only vent and show emotion around Lila. Lila tries to get her sister Lilly into pink, but with no prevail. Typically, you'll find Lilly hanging out with "Uncle Reiji", for she has a secret interest in his experiments and such. She'll also cuddle with Uncle Shu whenever she has time. And Lila loves hanging out with Uncle Kanato and Uncle Laito. She'll have tea partys with Kanato all the time. Lilly always tries to get Lila away from Laito. She says he's "demented" and "weird". But, Lila doesn't listen and hangs out with him anyway. Laito and Kanatos typical nickname for Lila is, Lilac or Little Flower. Both twins are vampires. Yui always teaches them about God and how to be selfless and kind, while Ayato plays sports with Lilly and cute video games (like Animal Crossing) with Lila.
Tumblr media
Arabella Phantomhive (BB) ((This OC is placed in the future, and based off a ship, Ciel X Lizzy. Please be aware that, even though my OC speaks multiple languages, I do NOT. So, as bad as it sounds, I'll probably use Google Translate if I must use another language-😅 ) When Ciel and Lizzy are older and married, they have a little girl. Half human. Half demon. Arabella was taught how to be a lady, ballet, and sword fighting by her mother. And she was taught chess, ballroom dancing and more sword fighting by her father. Instead of going to a school, little Ara was homeschooled, by Sebastian, the Phantomhive Butler. He taught her multiple languages, such as Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and her personal favorite, French. Time skip to the age of 10, she saw her mother murdered before her, and her father taken by some strange light beings. Having been raised by Sebastian since then, now she's 17, running the Funtom company, and determined to avenge her mother and find her father. :)
Tumblr media
Robert Trancy (BB) ((This OC correlates with the Arabella OC, and is in the same storyline.)) Robert J. Trancy was his sweet Arabellas betrothed since birth. Even though it is set to be an arranged marriage, Robert always had a crush on his Arabella, and was awaiting the day to marry his beloved. Robert is a sensitive and kind boy, but sarcastic and joking all the same having been raised by Alois Trancy. He has no idea of whom his mother is, and was always told she died when he was born. At the age of 6, it was at a party when he saw his father dead on the floor of the long corridor. He didn't exactly see his fathers death, but he heard it, and knew exactly who did it. Ciel Phantomhive. He was determined to make his revenge. Having made a contract with Claude, his fathers old butler, he now lives alone in the manor, sending all the old servants away, except Claude. He makes frequent visits to his sweet Blue Rose however. He's a very insecure boy, full of anger, bitterness, jealousy, and sadness, but hides it well behind humor and love for his bride-to-be.
That was very long- and for that I apologize-
psycho-pass s3ep3 summary + thoughts + analysis (spoilers)
hi! i’m typically making this post for those who can’t watch it but wants to read spoilers! so here we go!
this episode mainly was to progress the mystery of a supposed suicide of a doctor who worked with a current candidate for some sort of political office. i CANNOT remember the names and the wiki pages havent updated, but theres 2 candidates as of now, a former wrestler and a pop star. the doctor worked on the pop star’s campaign but developed a stalking tendency towards her. he gets checked into a mental facility and then he supposedly jumps out the window. arata shindo believes he was actually trying to escape, thus leading kei ignatov + arata shindo to look into this further. they basically break off and conduct mini-investigations, unauthorized by chief shimotsuki.
in this episode, we mainly see development of character between all the main cast. below i will talk more about this, but lemme continue the main arc: kei and temma todoroki, the older enforcer, usually are paired up to investigate the wrestler candidate while arata and irie pair up to investigate the pop star. the main thing i think they figure out is that there is some sort of third party between the candidates that can be undetected by scanners and do evil bidding without people noticing. this is exemplified through an attack on the 2 enforcers, 2 inspectors, and someone from the wrestler’s campaign. a few disguised men came and attacked them, killing the campaign manager and injuring irie. they weren’t flagged down by anything and got access to the hotel in and out, so obviously something is off if these bad guys are able to move around like that.
the episode ends with kei becoming suspended due to him hitting someone due to personal reasons. below i will explain more because that deals with his characterization development!
ok finally some character development!!!!
arata:  “we need to exercise human judgement. that’s why the dominators have triggers.” HUGE STATEMENT! this is such an akane thing to say, i am really happy someone made this observation! obviously, this characterizes him to definitely have empathy. the context was todoroki was about to kill someone with the dominator, but arata stopped him and allowed kei to arrest him instead. this is huge because this is what akane did in season 2 as she attempted to talk someone down to 299 so she could do nonlethal attack rather than killing a latent criminal.
kei: ok he definitely had a lot of lore added in here and i LOVED IT! his fighting skills from his time in the military obviously is shown in this episode with his easily disarming a man with a shank with a FLASHLIGHT! but i really like this societal issue on immigration. context: kei is married and has a blind wife, who he accompanied to the doctors on consultation for eye treatment. some old guy was angry he had to wait, and noticed kei coming out, being done with his appointment and all. the old guy started yelling and getting angry that an “immigrant” went before him. kei maintained his cool but you can definitely tell he was having none of it! next scene was him and todoroki interrogating some people from the wrestler’s campaign. so context: todoroki is related to a few people working on the campaign, so they express their disgust at how a family member became a latent criminal and look down upon him. todoroki is shown quiet, small, insecure, whereas in the office hes all big talk and strong, so it shows how it really hurts him. kei notices and then PUNCHES the dude, who reports him to shimotsuki who puts him on suspension. its only episode 3!! anyways i liked this because it shows kei’s empathy as well, where he knows family should mean the world and seeing how todoroki’s family treats him makes him upset.
-todoroki: we learn here that he actually was a product of genetic engineering, so him turning to a latent criminal makes everyone be like: he was supposed to be amazing, superior, but instead he’s just an animal, etc... and he is obviously deeply hurt by this mentality. he’s all alone and it defintely reverts my initial opinion that i didn’t really like him.
-irie: there was a funny scene where (as i explained above) there was a scene that a few men broke in and launched an attack on the group, so irie was there getting beat up and a little robot thing, those yknow the ones with the high pitched voices and big heads was like: you are being hit with a large force on the head, meaning you are probably being assaulted! probability of winning is small, best strategy is to escape! and irie was getting absolutely pummelled and was like OK I WOULD IF I COULD DUMBASS!!! and i loved it! i like his character now, he definitely has his own charm where he likes the looseness and freedom of not living under sibyl. i also liked this scene because another whole essay can be written on how psycho-pass’s society reliance on technology doesn’t always work.
-akane: AKANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY MENTIONED HER SAYING “wasn’t she the killer inspector? the top notice inspector who lost her mind??” LIKE???? do they mean killer inspector like shes great :) hah! or like SHE KILLED SOMEONE???? i am so lost and i dont know if this was in the sinner of the system cases but i have no clue whats going on with akane and apparently she just upped and killed a man and i need to know why and how and please give me more akane please.
-irie x arata: ok i cannot finish this post without mentioning... there was a scene where arata and irie were off investigating together and LEGIT the sun shone down on arata, lighting up his eyes, irie watched him pet a cat, they talked about how even without hope, some of the latent criminals irie knows are the best people around, and arata agrees... i almost feel a relationship coming along! i know psycho pass had yayoi x shion so perhaps they’d also have a gay relationship too.
-speaking of yayoi... GUESS WHAT BITCHES SHE’S BACK! AND SHE GOT HER HAIR LET DOWN AND A SMIRK AND I AM READY TO SEE WHAT SHE BRINGS IN NEXT EPISODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WIG
~~~
Once we’re finally boarded, Evan directs me to our seat in first class. I raise an eyebrow at him making him chuckle and shrugs as if to say don’t worry about it. Once the plane takes off and most of the passengers turn in for night. I turn to Evan who is setting a brief cases in front of him.
“So you’re ok to split off from your partner to do this? Will Logan and Rebecca be ok?” I ask Evan curiously.
“Oh yea they’ll be fine. Believe me Bec can handle things at the home front for a few days. In fact she’d probably prefer it, to my meddling. And by meddling she means my need for relaxation every once in a while” He says laughing softly.
Turning back to me before whispering, “I know the whole Blake Sterling thing kind of derailed the briefing. So I brought some of the flies with me, in case you wanted to go through them. Logan mentioned your a planner so I thought it would help. If you want.”
I look at him surprised, “That would be great. Thank you Evan.”
“No problem and I’d like to add that Blake doesn’t seem involved. Not his father’s or brother’s shady business.” He says calmly.
“That actually does help.” I say breathing a sigh of relief.
I go over the four different flies as quietly and efficiently as possible. I need to find a way into there little “crew” and it couldn’t hurt to learn as much about them as possible in order to do it.
Graham Warren Sterling, kicked out of every boarding school in the country. Drug peddling were along the complaint but only got a slap on the wrist. Some how not only managed to get into Langston but is two years away from graduating. Has a full time position waiting for him at his father’s office. He’s been “working” part time already for the past few years to learn the family business. The architect firm has practically built the whole city. There’s been whispers of backroom deals, embedding, bribery to get anything from land, to shoddy buildings covered up. Some how a fire that killed a dozen people and injured countless more was deemed an accident. No one got any jail time.
Last year, before I started Langston Maxine Harper and Chloe Preston were the only two not implicated in a drug ring among their friends. Some how they had air tight alibi’s and no one else would talk. So they got off. Maxine goes to the sideshows a lot with Graham but doesn’t seem to race. She does seem to take business meetings with known drug dealers and runners. The only blemish in her wrap sheet is destruction of property, which she did a week of community service for before her mother took office. Now there either better at covering it up or she’s gotten smarter.
Chloe hasn’t gotten so much as a misdemeanor against her record. Which isn’t surprising as her uncle is the commissioner. She’s never seen without either Graham or Maxine though so if anyone knows something it’s her. Doesn’t participate at the side shows either just hangs around. She seems to be her uncle’s and friend’s weak link in their lives of crime.
Blake Sterling is a English literature assistant at Langston. Which i already knew. He doesn’t get along with his father or his business. Still sees his brother on a weekly basis and they seem very close. It’s unknown if he knows anything about his brothers extracurricular activities though.
“So that’s it huh? Get in with their kids and find dirt on the parents?” I say breathing deeply thinking of Blake.
“Yes. There’s a little more to it though. Those three, we want them too.” He says pointing at Blake’s brother Graham as well as two girls. Who I’ve just learned are named Maxine and Chloe. Those are our marks. I’ve seen Graham and Maxine briefly at sideshows. I’ve never spoken to them, nor did I know he was Blake’s brother. We don’t exactly run in the in the same circles.
“Right, and Blake?” I ask scared.
“Like I said he doesn’t seem to be involved.” Evan says smiling at me reassuringly.
Shoulders slumping I say, “Right, but if he is we have to bring him in.”
“Yes...but let’s cross that bridge when we get there.” He says patting my hand.
“Ok.. great.” I say feeling dejected.
“Hey, we’re going to figure this out.” He says smiling.
“Why don’t you distract me. Tell me about yourself.” I say with a small smile. Laughing quietly he says, “Alright what do you want to know?”
“Tell me about your family.” Curiosity shifting my thoughts from the case.
“Well it’s just my mom and me. Always has been. She’s wonderful, can’t get anything past that woman. Worked all her life as a nurse. Would come home after a long day and still help me with my homework.” He says smiling fondly at the memories.
“Is she the reason you went into law enforcement?” I ask smiling at his blissful expression.
“I suppose you could say that. She spent all day helping people and I wanted that in a different way.” Evan chuckles lightly, so not to wake our neighbors.
I chuckle too before asking, “So ex marshal to FBI, big change huh?”
He shrugs nonchalantly, “Yes and no. The law is still the law and I still get to help people.”
“True. Now tell me do you have a special lady or gentleman in your life?”
He busts out laughing before he can muffle it. As we get shushed we both start laughing even harder. Once we calmed down he answers, “Not at the moment no, I’m not opposed to it either. It’s hard in my line of work, finding someone who can handle it. It’s not easy, honestly I’m afraid it’s never going to happen.”
I see a little sadness in his eyes and I reach over to him laying my hand over his. “Evan Shipley, that is never going to happen. Have you seen you? I mean people must fall at your feet constantly. Tell me does it get annoying? Is it hard to walk around without stepping on people?”
“Well someone has to do I suppose.” He says his genuine smile back on his face as he shoves me with his shoulder lightly.
We continue our game for the rest of the flight. I forget about the case and everything else as I dive into the life of Evan Shipley. He tells me about some of his marshal cases, his old partner Samantha and his life in Texas. Once we land, we grab an Uber to our hotel and bid each other good night. Tomorrow the real work starts. If Colt’s here, I know three places he could be. I cross my fingers that Evan and Rebecca’s information on his whereabouts is correct. I need him, we need him.
The next morning I’m awoken at 430 am again. I find a sheepish Evan at my door waiting for me in running gear. I mutely shut the door and change into work out gear. I guess this is my life now.
“Sorry I know it’s early but Bec would kick my ass if we didn’t continue your training.” He says with a fond smile and chuckle.
“She seems like the type too. What’s her deal?” I say curiously as we reach the hotel exit and make our toward the beach.
“With Bec? She takes her job very seriously. We both do but she’s had a lot to prove. Men discount her for being a beautiful woman with an important job. She’s had to deal with it a lot and the best way she know how is to kick their ass.” He says seriously.
“So when you mean kick there ass, you mean both figuratively and metaphorical?” I say smiling finding a kinship with the red head.
“Most definitely! Bec is amazing, in everything she does.” He says smiling gently before clearing his throat staring at the path ahead.
I can’t practically see the cartoon hearts floating around him. I giggle loudly making him look back at me curiously. “It’s just you seem to think very highly of her.”
“Of course I do. She’s my partner, my family, one of my best friends.” He says smiling.
“Right of course. Let’s get this run out of the way.” I say still smiling. I’ve enjoyed getting to know Evan.
“Oh it’s not just a run today. We’re doing weight training too.” He adds laughing taking off in a full on sprint.
Not to be out done in a race. I book it and say, “ Alright cheater lets do this.”
After our run, which I lost much to my annoyance. True to his word, we return to the hotel gym and weight lift. Though the hotel is a little limited, we make do and get a pretty good workout in. By that time the hotel breakfast is open and we get heaping plates of food.
In between bites Evan asks me, “I’ve pretty much told you my whole life story. Don’t you think it’s time you tell me more about yourself?”
“Well, my mom died about ten years ago. It broke my Dad’s heart, it broke both of our hearts. He became more protective, he couldn’t lose anyone else. I don’t blame him, the choices I made were my own. When I met Logan I was looking for freedom and he gave me that. He gave me a thrill I couldn’t find any where else.” I lapse into quiet staring out the window and away from Evan.
“I’m so sorry Ellie.” He says quietly putting his hand over mine.”
  I turn back at him giving him a tight smile before saying, “It was a long time ago.”
“I doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt any less.” He says with softened eyes.
I shrug adding, “It’s ok, let’s talk about something else.”
“Ok tell me about this sideshow we’re going to tonight?” He says shifting in his chair.
“Well it was mine and Logan’s first date sort to speak and I actually meet Colt there too. Too bad I don’t have my car, I could show you a real race.”
“Maybe not your car, but I have a car we can use.” Evan says smiling slyly.
“Are you serious! Oh my God lets go.” I say getting out of my chair.
“Isn’t it a little early for the sideshow?” He says chucking.
“Right...well let’s go get ready and start looking for Colt. Don’t dress like a cop either or no one will talk to us.” I say whispering the word cop, even though the dining room is practically empty.
“Don’t worry I won’t cramp your style.” He says full on laughing now, getting up to join me to our hotel rooms.
After a long shower, I take my time getting ready and picking out the perfect outfit. A white low V-neck tank, short cut off shorts, gold layered necklace and white chucks. I add Logan’s spark plug necklace and a bracelet Colt gave me too at the last second. Evan waits for me in the hallway in black boots, distressed jeans, black T-shirt and aviators.
“Subtle, very subtle.” I say laughing.
“Would you shut up I tried. Logan doesn’t wear shirts that say, I swear I’m not a cop.” He says bumping my shoulder.
“I’m messing with you, you look nice. Just relax your posture a little.” I say looking him over again. He really is very handsome, he looks more like a model then an FBI agent.
We walk to the hotel parking lot to the back. Where a white 2020 Ford GTO is parked making me stop in my tracks, mouth wide open. “How...how?” I mouth incoherently.
“FBI remember. Nothing but the best, I hope it’s up to your standards. I’m told it’s been modified for racing.” He says shrugging.
“Omg are you kidding me right?”
“No and that being said don’t crash it ok, it’s a loan.” He says laughing at my enthusiasm.
I hop in to the drivers seat and Evan hands me the keys before saying, “Show me what you got. Don’t get caught this time, we’re on a time crunch.”
I salute him before starting the car. Omg it’s perfect, there’s NOS installed too. I think I might cry tears of happiness. We make our way to the free way where I weave through traffic going fast and faster. I lose myself in it, I’m free again. We make it to MPC’s old garage and a flood of memories assault me. There isn’t anything here still. I was so sure Colt would try to rebuild it. I think of Kaneko and his sacrifice and I feel tears running down my face. Evan gives me space to look around and get myself together. After a while we walk to the car and drive to the next location. It’s one of Evans FBI leads, only to find nothing. We spend the rest of the day going to every location, only to come up with nothing. At sunset, I drive to the cliff Colt took me to but he’s not there either. There is only one place left to go, the sideshow. He has to be there he has to, I think to myself. Evan and I walk around for a while, things have changed though. Salazar and his goons are gone, even Vaughn is no where to be found. I can’t find anyone I recognize except for the promoter.
I make my way over to her before asking, “Any bike racing today?”
“Not yet maybe later. Do I know you? You seem familiar.” She says looking at me from head to toe.
“Former Mercy Park.” I say standing my ground.
“And him?” She says nodding at Evan.
“He’s with me. I’m looking for Kaneko’s son. Seen him around?”
She looks over at Evan again and me before nodding and saying, “He’s here all the time. You signing up for a race or not?”
“Yea. What’s the fee?” I ask her ready to go into my purse for my racing money.
“Ten grand. The next race is in 5 minutes.” She says smiling at me.
“Fine. Sign me up.” I hand her a wad of cash and walk away.
“You just bet ten grand.” Evan says with a low whistle.
“I didn’t bet it Evan. It’s an investment. Did you see those other cars? They don’t stand a chance. Plus we need to blend in to get more info.” I whisper to him as we walk back to the car, to bring it closer.
Before I know it, Evan and I are strapped in to the car at the starting line. I survey the other racers critically, going over in my head everything I’ve learned. I look at Evan sideways before saying, “It’s been a long time since I’ve had someone riding shot gun. Maybe it’s time I teach you something.” I say smiling at him confidently.
“Kick some ass Ellie. I’ve got your back.” He says chucking smiling confidently back at me.
The car feels like an extension of myself and I zone out. It’s just me and the car. No Evan, no FBI, no case nothing. I drift and use the NOS perfectly, just like I was taught. I was right, that race was a piece of cake. I walk away with 50 grand easy. Ten of which was already mine but still 40 grand win for one race is very good. I feel nervous carrying that much cash and I’m about to tell Evan we should head out and maybe come back. Then I hear him. Just like when I heard Logan’s voice a couple days ago a flood of emotions assault me.
“Well well well if it isn’t the one and only Ellie Wheeler. I hear you’ve been looking for me.” Colt says smirking, before opening his arms to me.

Hela-Avenger Masterlist
Sometimes baby the hardest part of breaking
Is leaving pieces behind you
Oh we've all gotta get by
Let me come and hold you high, with you
“Start from the beginning,” Steve states as he opened the file. Y/N closely watched the way he clicked his pen before settling it down on the page. Steve looks up at you but you can’t find the courage to look him in the eye. “Y/N
 I know you’re in a bit of shock at the moment but please explain what happened out there.”
You take a deep breath and try to still the shaking of your hands. Pulling at the ends of your sleeve, the soft cotton covers your bruised knuckles and scratched palms that were no longer bleeding. You never realized how destructive your own two hands could be under the influence of god-willing fury. You shiver at the memory sinking deeper into your chair.
“Can we please do this later?” you ask. “I want to go see
”
Steve shakes his head interrupting your half-stated request.
“I know you’re still suffering from what happened,” Steve answers. “But Loki and Thor are in good hands at the moment and all I need from you is to give me a recap. The faster we get this done, the faster you’ll be able to go see them.”
You take a deep breath and Steve nods for you to continue.
“I don’t know where to even begin
”
“From the beginning,” Steve answers. “Tell me what happened the moment you stepped into the warehouse.”
The whole place was unnervingly silent. No sound besides the careful steps you were taking. You pause as you finally catch something but you let it go as you realize it was simply the sound of water dripping into a basin from the far corner. You were tempted to drop your invisibility shield but restrain from doing so.
“This is not what I expected,” Thor speaks besides you. “There’s no one here.”
You don’t respond and Loki remains silent as well as you continued forward prompting them to follow. At the end of the warehouse stood a glass container holding the Berserker Staff. The glass case seemed out of place amongst the old and dusty warehouse appliances that were left behind.
“Something’s wrong,” you state. “This is too
”
Before you’re able to even finish your statement, a flash of light blinds all of you.
The scratching of pen against paper pulls you out of your thoughts. Steve’s handwriting is illegible and untranslatable. Maybe this file will get discarded with many others but you knew you were pushing your luck.  What happened at the warehouse was not something that could be so easily forgotten.
“Please continue
” Steve states as his hand begins to slow.
You swallow the lump in your throat and begin again.
Pain.
Pure, unfiltered pain.
A piercing sound rings in your ears while your eyes flutter adjusting to the blinding light. You feel the vibrations in your throat as you groan and every movement of your body makes your nerves burn.
“Loki,” you manage to call out. “Thor!”
Senses start to flood in with no reprieve. You feel your body being pulled back snapping your instincts back on. Your body shimmers into invisibility causing your attackers alarm when your body suddenly disappears from their hold. You’re quick to knock them out with one power kick and move to search for your companions.
“Loki! Thor!”
There are no responses and your eyes are still adjusting to the bright security lights. The sight of the case with the The Berserker Staff remains standing; unharmed.
“Loki!” you shout with more urgency. “Thor!”
The air in the room seems to become thinner with every second that passes. You’re quick to rise from your chair fanning your hands on your face. Steve looks up at you in concern and you turn away from him as short gasps escape your mouth.
“Y/N,” he whispers.
“I’m fine,” you stutter out. “I just
 This is where things get confusing.”
Steve frowns at the sight of your rising panic attack but he couldn’t let you go until he knew what happened.
“How so?”
“It all happened so fast
 just too fast
”
Thor’s figure comes barreling through the side. It was taking most of Hydra’s men to keep him down even though the great God of Thunder was still recovering from the first attack. Loki was yet to be found and you didn’t know whether to search for him or aid Thor.
The decision is made for you as the guards that you had escaped from return in search of you. They can’t see you but you can see them and you immediately notice their focus turn to the Berserker Staff.
If they get their hands on that, the odds of the fight would immediately turn to their favor. Thor’s eyes widen as he notices the same and he struggles against his multiple opponents.
“Loki! The staff!” he shouts. “Get the staff!”
Loki was nowhere to be seen and it all came down to you. You move with stealth hoping to catch the guards off-guard again but nothing goes as planned.
One moment you’re standing right behind the agents and then the next you’re in the air. Your back crashes against the glass case tipping the container over. Glass shatters around you and the air in your lungs disappears as you land on the concrete floor.
You flicker in and out of visibility and try to gain control of yourself again. The shards of glass dig into the palm of your hands as you try to stand up. You ignore the sharp pain and drop your powers knowing it was taking too much of your focus and energy to keep your invisibility up.
“You!”
Your eyes look up to find the guards from before recovering much faster than you were. Your hands are bleeding and you are barely able to catch your breath. The staff laid unprotected before you and the thought crosses your mind in wielding the dangerous power against your enemies.
The tears are burning in your eyes but you refuse to let them fall. You take a shallow breath and ignore the tightening of your throat that refused to continue on with your explanation. You refused to look at Steve knowing the disappointment that would reflect back on you.
“Are you admitting of knowingly picking up the staff and wielding it even though we advised you of the dangers of doing so?”
“Yes, it happened but it was by accident!” you exclaim. “I swear, Steve. I know how it sounds at the moment but there’s more to what happened out there and I
 I never intended for anyone to get hurt. I swear! I never
”
You can’t contain them any longer and so the tears begin to roll down your cheeks.
“I heard him scream and I
 I made a quick decision that wasn’t the right one but it was the only one I could make.”
A pained scream resonates through the warehouse capturing your focus the moment you realize who it came from. Your heart stops at the sound of it and fears start to infiltrate itself into your being. There is no time to assess the next best step as the guards start to move towards the staff.
The decision has to be made and so you make it.
“Y/N, no!”
But the warning arrives too late as your hand has already taken a hold of the staff that was just at your reach.
The smooth oak vibrates at your hold making your other hand itch to hold onto it too and so you do. Both hands on the staff allows its full power into effect. The pain and tiredness that clung to your frame disappear. There is only strength and determination radiating from you know and the enemies before you tremble in their fear.
“15 Hydra agents injured and hospitalized,” Steve reads out from the updated tablet. “12 of them require intense surgery and may never recover fully. As for the other 3, they are stable at the moment but they remain unconscious for the unforeseeable future.”
“What about
”
“I’m getting to that,” Steve interrupts her. “Thor suffered minor injuries. Most likely because he was able to avoid your attacks. He’ll heal in no time.”
“And Loki? How’s he doing?”
“He’s stable for now but remains unconscious,” Steve explains. “Thor assures us he’ll recover with time but we don’t know when he’ll wake up.”
You bury your face into your hands and try to calm the rising emotions that threatened to overtake you.
“I just felt so angry with him, Steve,” you whisper to him. “After all he’s done to me, I couldn’t bury it any longer and I
 I never meant to hurt him. I never meant to hurt him that way.”
All of the Hydra agents had been disposed of the moment your hands took hold of the Berserker staff. Whimpers and groans of pain echoed quietly through the warehouse but none made a move against you.
The power of the staff continued to pulse under your hold and you had every intention of falling deeper into its lure.
“Y/N
”
You snap around to find Loki leaning against the nearby pillar. One hand was at his side pressing onto a bleeding wound while the other was raised towards you in surrender.
“I understand you now,” you whisper to him as your eyes took in the etchings on the wood. “How were you supposed to ignore the allure of power the called your name? You simply can’t. Not when it’s meant to be like this!”
“Come on, Y/N,” Loki calls out to you. “You know that’s the power of the staff speaking. Give it to me. You don’t need it anymore.”
“Are you sure?” you respond back. “Loki, do you know how easy I could conquer the world with this? With my mutation and training, I am unstoppable!”
“That is not what you want and you know it!”
“Who are you to know what I want?”
“Give me the staff,” Loki demands as he stands upright no longer reclining on the pillar. “I don’t want to fight you, love, but I will if I have to.”
“Oh, Loki,” you whisper at him with a grin as my hold on the staff tightens. “I beg you to reconsider...”
“This is not you!”
“Maybe it is now!”
Steve closes the file and sets it aside. His face was void of emotion and you knew he still had a thousand more questions to ask. You take your seat across from him but your hands continued to tap the top of the table and you were jonesing to leave the conference room to head into the medical bay.
“Is there something you want to disclose to me before this file is reviewed?”
By this point, you’re ready to say anything as long as it got you out of this room.
“I’ve spoken about the situation with honesty,” you answer. “Now, may I please go see him?”
Steve watches you closely in silence. Something not settling right with him.
“If you hated Loki as much as you’ve admitted and shown, then why are you so invested in visiting him?”
You are not allowed to answer or offer an explanation as Steve continues.
“It’s not out of guilt,” Steve points out. “If that was the case, you would be asking about Thor and the guards you fought but you’re not. Your concern is specifically on Loki and what you did to him.”
“Steve
”
“Now answer honestly, Agent Y/N,” Steve states. “Have you been completely open with me about your history with Loki?”
“No, of course, I haven’t!” you shout as you stand up from your seat. “There was no need to! And honestly, Captain, I don’t give a damn about telling you about it. If you’re so interested, go ask Bruce but I am done with this interrogation and I want to go see Loki and make sure that he’s
 that  I didn’t...”
The words fail you, but your actions don’t.
You step away from the table ignoring Steve’s shocked stare. FRIDAY calls after you but you ignore the AI and make your way to the medical bay with no intention of stopping for anyone.

Year 2 Part 3: A Bit of Transfiguration
Hey, guys! Sorry for the wait on the update. This is the next part of the story I am currently writing and I hope you all continue to enjoy!
The next day proved difficult to focus on Transfiguration with Ben in the Hospital Wing. Though David, Penny, and Tonks had been sworn to secrecy, somehow rumor still spread around the school of his absence. Not to mention he wasn’t sure if he was going to avoid punishment for being caught after hours, however, he was pretty sure Merula hadn’t let the general populace that he had beat her again in a duel.
Despite these distractions, he still managed to be only one of two students (the other was a red haired Ravenclaw girl he didn’t know) to properly transfigure his porcupine into a pincushion, much to the delight of Professor McGonagall.
“Very good, Mr. Grant,” she praised after asking him to perform the spell for her. “You are quite the natural in this subject. Five points to Gryffindor.”
“Thank you, Professor.”
“Indeed, you are one of the more gifted students at Transfiguration I’ve seen in some time,” she added. “If you are interested, we may explore more advanced lessons.”
“I’ll consider it for sure.”
McGonagall gave a curt nod. “Alright, that’s enough for today. Class dismissed.”
The Gryffindors and Ravenclaws began shuffling out and for a moment David thought he had successfully avoided the subject of last night. Alas, he was wrong.
“Mr. Grant, do stay. There is a matter we need to discuss.”
Rowan gave him an encouraging look to try and make him feel better, but though his head of house was fairer than Snape he knew she would not let him off easy. Running a hand through his dark brown hair, he decided it was best to face the music.
He walked over to her desk while the others vacated the room and soon he was staring face to face into her stern, gray eyes.
“You wanted to see me Professor?”
“Yes, Grant. It is in regard to last night, your friend Mr. Ben Copper.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Is he okay?”
“At the moment, he is being well cared for by Madam Pomfrey and is no immediate danger. However, his memory is quite spotty, and he does not remember how or when he became trapped in this cursed ice. Rest assured, he is fine and will make a full recovery.”
That at least, was a huge relief off of his mind.
“Thank you, Professor.”
“Indeed, I thought it best you ought to know personally given how close you two are.”
“Soooo
.I’m not being punished?”
David hadn’t wanted to push his luck but a part of him couldn’t help popping the question. Better safe than sorry.
“Your heroism in discovering Mr. Copper in the nick of time has warranted a pass for now. But I warn you, I will not overlook future violations of curfew. Is that understood?”
“Yes, ma’am,” he replied eagerly, hardly daring to believe his good fortune.
“Very good,” and suddenly her eyes were full of concern and sympathy. “Though he is fairing well, I daresay he’ll need his friends after such an ordeal. Do see to it to pay him a visit.”
“I will, professor.”
“Good. Let us speak no more of this.”
Rowan was waiting for him outside when he finally exited the classroom.
“What did she say?” he asked with anticipation.
“She let me off the hook for now. Definitely her way of saying ‘thank you’ for finding Ben when we did.”
“I’m sure glad you found him,” Rowan agreed. “I think it explains why he was acting so oddly. You know what this means, right?”
“What?”
“He must have been searching for the vaults himself,” he theorized as they traveled up the stairs towards the Great Hall. “You know that ice only affects you if you touch it. Somehow, he broke through that door again.”
“You don’t know that,” David tried to ease his best friend. “He’s not exactly in a good state right now. Let’s just see how he’s doing before jumping to any conclusions.”
“Alright. It’s just
after that note from ‘R’ or whoever
it’s freaky that someone or something could be watching us
”
“I know. But for now, let’s just pay him a visit before History of Magic. Give him some company.”
Rowan nodded and they climbed another flight of stairs before entering the main ward of the Hospital Wing. It was quite spacious and very tidy, with windows to allow those unfortunate enough to find themselves sick or injured. The ceilings were high and each bed was surrounded by a curtain to allow for privacy if desired. Madam Pomfrey ran a tight ship and was usually not keen on people distracting or distressing her patients, however, she was also quite kind and was usually accommodating within limits.
Today, only two other students were in her care so being able to see their friend was not an otherworldly request.
“Hello, Madam Pomfrey,” David greeted as she approached them. “How’s Ben? Is alright?”
“I believe so,” she said, causing both boys to inwardly sigh in relief. “I’ve certainly seen worse in my time here at Hogwarts, but his memory is rather erratic.”
“May we see him?”
“You may although I must insist you not stay long. He’s still in a minor state of delirium and I don’t want him to get too excited.”
“We’re just here to check in on him. Don’t worry, Madam Pomfrey.”
“Very well, he’ll be waiting for you. Third bed on the right.”
Privately, David could only wonder ‘delirium’ meant in Ben’s current condition. Did he go crazy? Perhaps confounded? That was always a possibility. Of course, at this point, almost anything was.
“Hey, mate,” he said as casually as he could upon reaching his bed, making minor observations along the way. Judging by his physical appearance, there was nothing out of the ordinary. The blue in his face was completely gone and he was certainly no longer shivering. However, Madam Pomfrey had not been lying when she stated he was in a nervous state of mind.
“Hey, Dave, Rowan.”
“How are you feeling?”
“Better but not great. Madam Pomfrey says that a few more pepperup potions should be enough to get rid of the cold, but I’m still sore.”
Though he claimed to be okay, his face told a different story. In truth the second year Gryffindor looked quite shaken.
“Anything we can do to cheer you up?” Rowan asked.
“Just seeing a friendly face is enough. Madam Pomfrey has been really helpful but she’s also kind of strict.”
“I would know,” David nodded. “She almost made me miss the feast last year after the werewolf debacle.”
“Not going to lie, kind of glad I missed that.”
David laughed but he and Rowan both knew that getting to the bottom of the ordeal was equally important.
“Ben, we have to ask, what happened?”
Placing his hand on his head in frustration, he let out a confused groan.
“I feel like I’m losing it.”
“You mean you have no idea what you’ve been doing the past couple days, or how you became stuck in the cursed ice?”
“None, at all. I can’t remember a thing,” came the sad reply. “Madam Pomfrey says she thinks it has something to with the ice but there’s no way to know for sure.”
David and Rowan looked at each other, the latter nodding at the former, who pulled out the letter they found on his person at the time of his discovery.
“This was a note we picked up off the floor after we found you. Do you recognize it?”
He proceeded to read aloud the message from ‘R’ but again it drew a blank.
“I’m sorry, guys, but I don’t know how that got into my pocket or who ‘R’ is.”
“You must remember something,” Rowan pressed him. “Try and think. We need to know who this person is.”
Again, Ben shook his head.
“It’s too difficult right now. All I can really recall is preparing to get on the train and then it’s completely blank after that
almost like I was floating aimlessly or something
cursed vaults
ice everywhere
.”
It was then that David knew they weren’t going to get much else out of him as Ben lay back down on the bed, still muttering to himself quietly. Evidently, Madam Pomfrey thought so as well because not a second later they were being escorted out of the Hospital Wing.
“He needs his rest, dears. When he’s ready I’ll be sure to let Professor McGonagall know so she may inform you all. Good day.”
As the doors slammed shut, David began to muse to himself as they headed down for lunch.
“He seems fine enough,” he said to Rowan, who began pulling out several books from his satchel. “But if he can’t remember anything, how are we supposed to know who’s behind this or what’s going on with the vaults?”
“We don’t know enough about ‘R’ to get any closer to finding who they are,” Rowan said, flipping through pages. “But that doesn’t mean we can’t still investigate ourselves. Remember the message we found last year about the hidden staircase? I have a feeling that might be our next lead.”
“The ice knight stands guard past the vanished stairs,” David echoed the deciphered message from the previous year.
“Exactly. Probably guarded by more than a few vanishing and concealment spells.”
“So how do we get in?”
“Easy,” Rowan said, plopping down on the table and serving himself a sandwich with chips. “I’m willing to bet that hidden staircase is in the same corridor as where the ice originates. We find the vault, break the curse, and gather more information. But first, I suggest not going there for the time being.”
“Agreed.”
“At least, not until we learn more complicated magic. The Revealing spell for one thing.”
David began munching relentlessly (he always had an appetite for food despite his wiry build).
“We don’t learn that in Transfiguration until fifth year.”
“I know, that’s why we need to learn it.”
He chuckled.
“I suppose you’ve read the entire curriculum already, Rowan?”
“Close, I’ve already looked into our N.E.W.T. level coursework actually. This doesn’t quite fall under that category but as you said, it’s advanced magic for someone our age.”
“Well, lucky for both of us, I’m quite good at Transfiguration,” David said through a mouth full of chips. “And a certain someone just offered me advanced lessons.”
He swallowed and gave a large belch, which caused a passerby Jae to laugh, and a few of the girls to give disgusted looks their way.
Rowan laughed, as he showed the deciphered message to him once more in his book.
“I think you’re onto something there, Dave. Get a basic understanding of vanishing and revealing spells, and we can check out that corridor once more.”
“Agreed. I think it’s time I pay our head of house another visit.”
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The next day, following Herbology, David stopped by the Transfiguration room, where Professor McGonagall had just finished teaching one of her classes.
“Professor? I hope this isn’t a bad time,” he said peeking through the doorway.
“Mr. Grant. No, not at all. I was just finishing up teaching the fifth year Gryffindors. To what do I owe the pleasure?”
Stepping inside the classroom, David got straight to the point, not wanting to waste anyone’s time.
“I thought about your offer for advanced lessons and I’ve decided to accept.”
Waving her wand, McGonagall sent a handful of her papers back into her desk before addressing him.
“I am certainly glad to hear it. It may take some time to find a consistent schedule, but I have some free time this Thursday after dinner if you are interested.”
“Yes, thank you.”
“We can start off with some spells and motions normally reserved for third years and go from there. Does that sound agreeable?”
David was afraid she might say that. While under normal circumstances, he would have been more than happy to leave the planning of the lessons up to her, he had to insist upon learning something far more specific and at the same time not tipping his sharp head of house to his real intentions.
“Actually, professor, I was wondering if we might start off with something more advanced. Specifically, revealing and vanishing spells?”
As predicted, McGonagall’s eyebrows furrowed at the request.
“Those two particular techniques are not taught until O.W.L. year, Mr. Grant. They are also quite difficult to master for those much older than you. I am not certain that is the best place to start.”
“I understand. But for me, those are the ones I’m really focused on.”
“And why should a second year be so heavily interested in those specific areas of Transfiguration?”
He knew it was coming. David was well aware Minerva McGonagall was no fool and would not hesitate to glean the truth from him if necessary. His next answer had to be extra careful.
“I want to challenge myself, Professor,” he said with a straight face. “You said yourself I’m gifted at this. Let me test my abilities under your supervision.”
After a few seconds deliberation in which David could feel a trickle of sweat go down his back, McGonagall relented.
“Very well. We will not immediately jump into the spells you have mentioned but I do promise that eventually we will reach that point and devote significant time to their mastery.”
That was all he wanted to hear.
“Thank you, Professor.”
“You are welcome. I shall see you this Thursday at seven pm.”
Walking out of the classroom, a renewed sense of purpose filled David Grant. The vault would have to wait awhile yet, but this was a start. With any luck, he could break this curse and discover more clues about his brother and ‘R’ in little time.

Soulmate AU - Loki/OC, Part 10
MAJOR APOLOGIES THAT I HAVEN’T UPDATED IN SO LONG *hands out apology candy* It’s summer now though (YAY) so I should have updates coming more regularly!!!
If you would like to be added to the tag list for this story, comment below and let me know! Other parts can be found here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, part 9.
Frigga’s head jerked up to look at him, eyes scanning him for any sense of what this could mean. She saw the crimson coating his robes, Elsie’s blood, and as only a mother can, noticed the tense posture he held. “Told me what, Loki?”
Gritting his teeth together, Loki’s hand flashed out to gesture to Elsie’s still form. “This, mother! Even I, who see no importance for such lesser creatures on Asgard, understand that this would not have happened without someone intervening!”
With a quick glance toward Elsie, Frigga returned her attention to Loki. Waiting, watching. She knew him, and was not interested in playing these verbal games he so loved to engage in. “Loki.”
Jaw clenching, Loki snapped. “I wonder, what the Allfather’s beloved pets are doing right now?” He walked around Elsie’s body, each step slow and steady. “Could they be resting, sleeping? Dreaming of going on some gruesome task for the greatness of Asgard?” His breathing quickened, anger sharpening his features. “Or, perhaps, they are licking the blood of my soulmate off of their fur in a celebration of a job well done?!”
“Geri. Freki,” Frigga breathed out in a rush of air. Eyes darted towards Elsie, where Eira worked continually, then back to her son. Anxiety filled her at his words, and despite his status of lies and trickery, she knew he was telling her the truth. The silver fabric rustled against her as she approached him. “This should never have happened. I
” she paused until his furious eyes met hers, “will handle this with your father.”
Turning to exit the room, she spoke to the head healer. “Eira, use every measure at your disposal. Do not withhold anything.”
“Certainly, your highness.”
Not long after, Loki, to his upmost displeasure (perhaps second most, Odin certainly ranked as the first), heard Thor enter the room. Really, subtle was not in his vocabulary.
“Mother told me what occurred,” Thor said, stepping as close to his brother as he would allow. His face frowned as soon as he caught sight of Elsie, though the healer had been excellent and thorough in her work, it was still clear by the pale face, blood stained clothes, and multiple pastes that had been massaged into her skin to quicken the healing and prevent any scars, that she had been seriously injured. “I was appalled to learn of her state. Truly, a terrible thing to have happened.” Thor shook his head. “Is there anything I could do to help?”
Loki couldn’t help the short laugh that escaped him. “Help? No, no. Unless you can convince the Allfather to tether his mindless pets to something other than a Midgardian, I have very little that you could help with.”
While it still stung, at some level, Thor had been forced to accept his brother’s more cynical, sharp attitude that seemed to increase by the moment. Looking at Elsie, he suddenly noticed two small forms next to her bed. “Ariel, Belle?”
Hearing the shock in Thor’s voice, Loki muttered curses underneath his breath. “Ah, yes. I suppose I forgot to mention that. If I had to make a guess, I would dare to say that she foolishly attempted to rescue her minuscule creatures from Geri and Freki. Stupid girl!”
“Eira, how are they?”
Turning towards the two princes, Eira paused on cleaning her station. “Doing well, your highness. While this would be a quick fix for an Asgardian, due to her Midgardian heritage, there was more cause for concern,” she wiped an amber strand of hair back, “the injuries themselves were not too terrible; the blood loss however, was beginning to head in a dangerous direction. Thankfully, due to Prince Loki’s quick action, I was able to stop her blood loss before her numbers went any lower, and the wounds, themselves, were a simple fix.”
“And, the little ones?” continued Thor.
Eira smiled at his statement. “I will not say it was so easy, your highness. Their small size against such larger and ferocious beasts did not bode well for them, and I was concerned that we might lose them. However, they will both survive, though it might take a while before they are back to their previous health.”
Thank the Norns, I would hate to deal with Elsie if her creatures had not survived.
Some time later, Elsie began to awaken. What’s going on? Where am I? Her mind raced, trying to place all of the pieces together. Belle! Ariel! The wolves. Oh my gosh, what happened? Heartbeat beginning to race, for she had no recollection due to her blood loss after the wolves jumped on her, Elsie forced her eye muscles to start cooperating, and opened them to find – to her absolute shock – Loki sitting next to her.
She blinked. Definitely not what she had been expecting. Of course, he did not seem very concerned – flipping through some book, likely about something illegal, she mused. Still, a bit odd.
“What-what happened?”
Green orbs flickered in her direction for a split instant, before returning to the page. “You were attacked. The bond alerted me once you were at a serious enough state to warrant medical aid.” Nimble fingers flipped the page.
“It can do that?”
No reply.
If she had been feeling better, Elsie would have rolled her eyes. Drama queen.
“Belle, Ariel. Are they, are they ok?”
This time, Loki met her gaze for a few seconds. He gave a short, annoyed sigh. “Yes, your pathetic pets are alive.” Sensing her anxiety, Loki grumbled about Midgardians stupid emotions. Honestly, how much emotional energy could they expend on an eight-pound creature? Certainly there were more useful ways to use that! Nevertheless, he huffed, before adding, “Do not concern yourself. They are fine.”

The Glass Scientist Read-Through - Chapter 1, Pages 1-9
The webcomic’s on break at the moment, so lets just take this moment to go back to the beginning.  I’m going to look though the entirety of Chapter 1, starting this Sunday and finishing it next Sunday.  This week I’m only doing pages 1-9 because I have no restraint and I talk too much because it sets one type of mood but then there’s a sharp cut in the atmosphere with the last panel of page 9.  Chapter 1 is probably going to be the easiest chapter to cut apart because its mostly set-up with just one problem that needs to be tackled.  With that in mind lets enjoy the Spirit of London at Night setting up the mood here.
As of writing this post Chapter 7 in the comic was just finished, so if you haven’t read up til now there’s going to be light spoilers throughout.  I suggest keeping a tab open with the comic itself as we go through page by page.  Now come read with me!
Chapter 1 (The Wolf on High Street) Cover - It’s the Babey!!!
First cover is a simple one for the eyes.  It features Jasper’s werewolf form front and center.  A part of his body is missing, leaving only his his bones, fur, clothes and two furry hands politely folded in front of him.  Behind him is a wave of lit torches.  Without his face Jasper appears unaffected by the flames behind him, which spoilers is not true.  But my read on it is that the people holding the torches don’t care what he’s feeling, or what is beyond his bone structure.  They just see the shape of a werewolf and they’re not cool with it.
What’s important to note here is that as of Chapter 7 we still don’t know why Jasper is wearing a dress on the cover.  He hasn’t worn anything similar to it since then, and while there’s conceptual backstory on why that might be on Sabrina’s blog, that backstory is no longer in line with what may be the actual explanation.  So for now I think its just good to put a pin on this cover for when we learn more about Jasper’s life before our story began.
Pages 1-2 - “The Spirit of London at Night” by TSoLaN (The Spirit of London at Night)
...Alright I’ll admit it: I love Hyde’s monologues.  His way with words shows how he truly sees himself as both immortal and unparalleled - he is powerful and never wrong.  He really thinks he’s hot stuff, and he’s completely shameless about it.  Which, you know, is the opposite of how Jekyll feels most of the time.
I also love how Hyde can’t just say, “Hey I like spooky stuff and this is my hangout.”  No it has to be poetic.  His thoughts must be worthy of Shakespearean prose (whatever that means.)  For someone who can’t stand still for five seconds and claims to have few cares he sure seems to spend a lot of time working on his monologues.
I’ve read through these two pages so many time I’ve lost count, and Hyde’s love for the dramatic and the spooky, along with the imagery, is forever ingrained in my mind.  I could close my eyes and see the fog rolling past the will-o-wisp lamps and I can hear Hyde not even trying to contain his excitement when he says things like, “It is a magical place, a spooky place, my favorite place in the whole wide world!”
Pages 3-5 - Hey Spirit of London [at Night] Shut Up We Needs to Save Babey!!!
Page 3 - So Jasper bursts into the scene teeth out and already terrified.  I don’t know how conscious Jasper is after taking the botched poison, but I know when a dog’s snarling it means that they want you to back off.  I feel like Jasper was already terrified the moment he transformed, and so he bursts through the wall feeling everyone and everything is out to kill him.  Which I mean...he’s right.  Its those fight or flight instincts kicking in.  He chooses flight, but if someone tried grabbing Jasper earlier it might have gone bloody.  I feel like in Jasper’s case being a werewolf before taking the potion was akin to having a six-hour panic attack, but that might be me asserting too much.
I think of this page as changing the scene from “setting up a spooky tale by the campfire” to “chasing away a misunderstood creature by a murderous human mob.”  Every time I get to this page I can’t help but think of the mob song from “Beauty and the Beast.”  Where’s the fanart where Werewolf Jasper is attempting to feed birds but then too many birds land on his hands and soon enough they are perched all across his head and shoulders people!?
Hyde calls Jasper a “beautiful brute,” which I have to laugh at because Jasper is neither beautiful nor a brute.  I mean, he is a cutie pie, but he’s no Morcant, which I feel would disappoint Hyde.  Werewolf is broken, too small!!!
Page 4 - As Jasper runs away we catch a glimpse of the spoopy man himself, taking his sweet time enjoying the scenery.  There’s excitement in Hyde’s eyes as he stares at the mob, like he wants to jump in it.  There’s a lot of high energy going around that mob and Hyde’s a high energy man.  I feel like Hyde wanted to started brawling with the mob.  He could take ‘em!
Meanwhile Jekyll’s like, “Oh no baby is in trouble!!!”  Even before he knew Jasper as a person he calls him a “poor thing.”  This goes in line with how he dealt with Morcant in “Bleeding Heart,” even though an injured Morcant is both way bigger and also far more intimidating than Werewolf Jasper.
Page 5 - Hyde cuts a nice silhouette as he readies a jump from one rooftop to the next, which makes page 5 a bit of a favorite of mine.  Interesting thing to note is Hyde has a cape that quiet similar to Jekyll’s a mysterious stranger who will appear later in the chapter.
Jekyll has to push Hyde to get moving, mainly because I think Hyde enjoys annoying Jekyll.  He probably thinks no matter how late he is on moving Jekyll will find a away to save Jasper, so who cares right?  I’m sure that way of thinking will not come back to bite Hyde in the tush later.
Pages 6-9 - Jasper the Generic Mad Scientist Versus Jasper the Burgeoning Character
Page 6 - I like the transition of Jasper going from fearful sounds as a wolf to fearful sounds as a person as the potion starts leaking out of him.
Page 7 - I’m absolutely sure Jasper thought he’d meet is end when he sees he’s cornered by the mob.  If not for the police he would have met his end, which is a weird thing to feel.  Not that it makes him feel any better that the police are going to lock him up in place of being killed by the mob.  We get to see Half-formed Jasper, which sadly we don’t get to see after the first chapter.
Page 8 - We meet Sergeant Brokenshire.  He’s pretty calm when talking to Jasper.  I suppose the nicest thing you can say about him at the moment is he’s not trying to kill Jasper.  I do find it weird that he somehow knew Jasper was a mad scientists werewolf instead of just...a werewolf.  Was Jasper being investigated before this happened?  I feel like I’m forgetting something...
Right now we don’t know Jasper yet.  We don’t even know his name at this point.  So it feels like he’s saying a lot of <insert mad sciency line here> stuff.  Like, “my formula” and “repeat my results” and stuff.  Which goes with having to set up the world of The Glass Scientists as having a lot of mad scientists who get in trouble with both mobs and police.
Page 9 - I think this is where I feel like there’s the biggest clash between Jasper the character and Jasper the generic-mad-scientist-that-needs-rescuing.  We don’t really get into Jasper the Character until Chapter 2, but knowing what I know now about Jasper I can’t imagine Jasper referring to his creatures as “my experiments.”  He doesn’t number his creature, he names them!  He has an attachment to them.  So I just find that a bit weird.
Brokenshire has Jasper restrained only after Jasper pukes glowing goop, which shows that Brokenshire isn’t scared that Jasper will fight back as much as he is of him trying to escape.  He’s very much in control of the situation.  But with the clip-clopping of hooves his grip on the situation is going to loosen.
Speaking of the clip-clopping I think the last panel marks an abrupt end to the “misunderstood beast is being attacked” setting and swiftly goes into “an elegant and out-of-this-world gentleman has come!” vibe.  This is where the mob song stops mid-sentence.
That’s it for today.  Next weeks I’ll finish off Chapter 1 with pages 10-23, and then the Sunday after I’m going to do a Sunday Prediction for what I feel might be featured in the upcoming chapter.  Just hang in there!  Two more weeks and we’ll be back to weekly updates.
Until then, let me know what you thought of when reading this first part of chapter 1.

Official Harran City Blog
Featuring articles from a news blogger employed in Harran just before and after the outbreak.
This site is old, but I don’t know exactly when it was last updated.
Articles are listed from newest to oldest. Every article has a ‘read more’ under it, but doesn’t actually take you anywhere when clicked. The date at the top of the page is from when I access the site to get screenshots.
Transcription:
This will be my last message A farewell. I’m at a crossroads now and, before I see the bottom of this bottle, I must  decide where I’m going from here on. ...
I killed her. I really did. I had no choice. When I reached the kindergarten, I found only children and one elderly babysitter with her husband. I asked about my son and they pointed to a locked room. “She came for him in the morning,” they said, ”but she was acting strangely. She looked sick”. ...
THIS IS A F... ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE! I don’t find other words to describe it. What’s happening in the streets is pure madness. My wife’s stuck at her workplace, my son still at the kindergarten. We had to wait till they unblock the streets, but I couldn’t just sit back and wait. I decided to hide my family here in the office, so I went out to buy food, water, and so on for storing.
I’m all alone here I was supposed to write more news, but nobody cares anymore, nobody’s here. Two days ago only half of the team came to work – the rest suddenly took leaves. Yesterday, there were three of us. People disappeared without a word. Today... it’s just me. I desperately hope that there’s still somebody out there that reads this page. I’ll be reporting for you as long as I can. That’s the least I can do with so much madness around. ...
