czechserwis (czeski fanserwis) + moja bardzo artystyczna interpretacja beboków (lubię kózki)
#artwork#vaclav#beboks are one of the rare instances of still used slavic demons (theyre silesian specifically)#as in theyre still used to scare children to this day (they eat kids)#what i drew is very much the more artistic version of them (theyre more often depicted as little void devils with big eyes and not goats)#that exists in this fantasy story of mine; theyre similar to goats and sheep when theyre young and stupid and to survive they try to blend#in with the lambs. when they start growing up they begin walking on two legs and eat humans#especially children#theyre usually more animal like but they can choose to resemble humans more (theyre not that good at it but trying to blend in is their main#form of survival; if a little bebok is spotted among the animals theyre usually killed before they can become dangerous to people#this is all in my head and in no way connected to actual beboks (except for the eating children part)#polish demonology is one of my main interests and getting to bend it a little to create a fantasy world is fun

its prosecutor jiang wanyin!!!! oh fuck!!! / gifs + au rambling below the cut / follow for more mdzs x aa crossover stuff :3
all the gifs i made (poses traced off franziska):
hes so similar to franziska when you think about it. theyre both deeply insecure tsundere adoptive younger sibling of successful main characters. who carry whips. something something edgeworth choosing death and wwx actually dying also
his share code is HWFEFF if you wanna use him in a trial! you can't share backgrounds but heres the scenery from the donghua i used.
the easiest way to put custom stuff into objection.lol is to send it in discord and then use the link from opening it in your browser :)
a whole lot of AU stuff
the art im making is for if mdzs was an ace attorney game, playing from WWX's POV to solve various mysteries/cases over the course of the plot. so this scene would be from turnabout goddess, which would loosely cover the dafan mountain mystery.
cases include:
Turnabout Revenge (Mo Manor, quick introductory first case)
Turnabout Goddess (Dafan mountain, the good times flashback)
Turnabout Saber (the man-eating castle (omg hiii nhs))
The Blind Turnabout (Yi City arc)
Turnabout Deviation (the Koi Tower conference, Empathy on NMJ ala turnabout memories or beginnings. opening cutscene is his qi deviation)
The Blood-Soaked Turnabout (second Burial Mounds siege, flashbacks: Xuanwu, Sunshot, YLLZ, Nightless City massacre)
Turnabout Lotus Seeds (testimony about JGY, tree scene, golden core reveal, bathtub scene. opening cutscene could be JGS' death but that would make it canon rather than ambiguous)
Turnabout Confession (Guanyin temple)
the problem with splitting novel!mdzs into turnabouts is that flashbacks are a huge chunk of the book but they don't have mysteries/ cases to solve so they've gotta be lumped together with present day stuff. imo? many of the flashbacks would likely have to be abridged so they could be retold ala DL-6, SL-9, or the fourth grade incident, where characters talk about it over some pieces of art. this is really difficult when theres a metric ton of unspoken, complex, and signifcant history between every character lmao
there's not as much of a problem with the cql timeline but i have not finished it. so.
the opening cutscenes in ace attorney always show the murder and/or the murderer plotting. the first cutscene of the game would be MXY summoning WWX, muttering about getting revenge on his family (it would also be good for him to mention the yllz being dead because that's how the novel starts.) cut to WWX's POV as he wakes up covered in blood and the investigation segment begins.
for investigations of monsters (goddess, saber, etc) the cutscene would be a scene of some poor throwaway cultivator getting their shit wrecked.
it would be cool to make a breakdown for JGY but again I need to review that scene cause I don't know who I'd base him on. maybe Vasquez or Dahlia.
tell me your thoughts!! i'm working off of a mdzs summary/ skimming the novel because i don't remember it too well so if i get anything wrong please yell at me
Jin Ling's sprites & Nie Huaisang's sprites / masterpost
#PLEAAAASE send it to me if you do actually use my animations in a case🥺#here im adapting mdzs to aa gameplay rather than making a mdzs AU where they are lawyers#so jiang cheng is not a prosecutor in this hes just angry. and on the right side of the screen#that man has not graduated law school but then again no one in ace attorney has either#the names are based off of how ace attorney cases are either named after a distinctive item/location (bigtop bridge samurai etc)#or the main emotional/character type thing that happens (goodbyes reminiscence farewell)#the mdzs/aa au where the stories get blended (ie my tags on the nhs post) is very interesting but i would have to think about it very hard#and i dont want to . i would rather think about what the court record would look like (its full of severed limbs)#MDZS' EXPLORATIONS OF MORALITY MAKE ME CHEW ON ROCKS#urrgh i got carried away writing this post & wrote a couple hundred words comparing aa and mdzs' attitudes towards morality & public opinio#i could write an essay on this topic tbh.#can i call this an au? its the same story in the same universe just in a different format. hmm#mdzs#aa#art#mo dao zu shi#ace attorney#grandmaster of demonic cultivation#cql#the untamed#jiang cheng#jin ling#objection.lol#flashing image tw#pixel art#animation#my art#franziska von karma#i guess??#mdzs aa au

Honestly, I just want to apply so many of Rick Riordan's concepts to comics, but they lend themselves so brilliantly. Namor and Aquaman perfectly can work as a metaphor on the Greek vs Roman rivalry. Their kingdoms are hidden from each other by the gods, because the gods know they'd have the potential to tear each other apart.
But I want to take it a step further. You know how Jason Grace is sent to Camp Half-Blood and Percy Jackson is sent to Camp Jupiter, to try and bridge the divide between the camps. Well, what if we did a crossover story using that same premise? I'll explain. Aqualad is Namor's kid. I don't know how, but he is. They're too similar looking not to be related. Garth is of pure Roman blood, Namor's lost son. The gods sent him to Aquaman to see how a roman child would react to being raised in a Greek setting.
And now for the more elaborate element of this story: Aquababy never died. Let's say the gods kidnapped him and implanted a mental suggestion in Aquaman and Black Manta's heads, making them think Manta killed Aquababy. But in reality, they sent Aquababy to Namor's kingdom, where he grows up to become a proud roman.
And then one day, the barrier between the world's is broken. Aquababy (going by a new name now), gets lost as a young adult and stumbles into Greek territory. Aquaman finds him, and it leads to a war between the kingdoms. We could make a big graphic novel out of this premise. And I would gladly read it. I think I've stumbled upon a perfect story here. So blame me reading the Heroes of Olympus series for this stroke of inspiration.
#I really can't help blending my two current interests#but i think i've thought of a pretty cool idea here#aquaman#arthur curry#namor#namor the sub mariner#namor mckenzie#sub mariner#the sub mariner#aqualad#garth of shayeris#aquababy#dc#marvel#dc comics#marvel comics#marvel x dc#my ideas#comic ideas#story ideas#comics

"the michael kandel translation of "the witcher" short story can't hurt you!!"
the michael kandel translation of "the witcher" short story:
#WE HERE IN K L O T H S T U R#the witcher books#[ Nobody liked that. ]#i like how the first two 'main' translations (like published for mass market circulation ones i mean)#were like 'no we can't call it a strzyga... no no...'#(maybe like: 'the english readers won't understand...')#and then when the game and book hit (i.e. both beginning with geralt fighting the striga)#everyone was like 'whoa that striga was really cool'#idk idk enough about it yet to say anything definitively#but my experience and all the other reviews and experiences i've read#from other anglophone readers with no prior exposure to polish or broader slavic myth or culture#has been just like: 'whoa i never knew about that... that's really unique and cool'#and on the flip side. originally witcher gained popularity in part because of the familiarity of the fairy tale#and so despite that witcher in general takes a lot of everything from across europe#if i may just summarize it really obtusely and without taking the precaution of nuance and all#although the first two translations were very much intended to feature polish writers and writing#in the way of the actual translation it feels like they tried to diminish its 'polishness' for the english reader#like for example in chosen by fate itself there are no diacritics (though idk maybe that was a lack of capability of the printing press)#it FEELS like that i'm not saying it was intentional but#for example when you don't say 'leshies' and instead say 'bugbears' that feels like diminishing it#but then later when the witcher's quote-unquote 'polishness' is allowed to come through clearer#then it actually is part of why english audiences were like whoa this is interesting i like it :)#you know real-life events are stories too. and i feel like this is a story with a good moral: 'be yourself'#this is also one of the prime subjects where i disagree with sapkowski lol#because re: 'death of the author' theory type stuff. authors cannot control how their works are interpreted by their audiences#works get interpreted on their own fortunately or unfortunately#so though i think it would be misled to engage with the witcher as if its ONLY good quality is its 'polishness'#i think that also it should be acknowledged how its unique take on culture made it appealing to both domestic and foreign audiences#i think where the problem lies is when we believe it can't be both polish and a blend of multiple cultures and traditions#because like yeah. author is an arthurian weeb

I'm pretty suprise with 4.7 database, hoyo decided to sailing Sethos x Wanderer (additionaly HaiKaveh become more closer) and how heartwarming Sigewinne character story could be...
#genshin impact#clorinde#sethos#sigewinne#nothing unusual from clorinde so I can't say anything#while sethos morelike another pieces hoyo put for sumeru members#there's one info interesting enough to mention aside he's blend very well on sumeru members (lol)#in sethos character story there's line saying hat guy doing errands for example delivering a letter#now the question parts : whom nahida sent letter to that needs to be secret and fast ?#except his own people like alhaitam or cyno I only think one group#yes other archons#for what reasons ? i think it's same question as ei yae music event last scene convo#if in next one or two small event happens to be at liyue or mondstad means we need to read closely (lol)#for sigewinne side I very interest in her story quest#i expect things like neuvi story quest#but to my suprise nothing angst happened at sigewinne character story ?#overall it's so heartwarming#and additionaly just how airhead wrio can be (lol)#even from your childhood time he basically said “I hold you dear” sir#now it escalate into “I will do anything for you”#and about things with sethos line on haikaveh really funny#with how I perceive sethos normally it should be he tells us about kaveh being friends of tighnari cyno and he meets him at forest or alike#BUT sethos decided it's more memorable for them came as one and talks mundane things (lol)#it's like JUST HOW MANY TIMES he saw them together !?#it's so funny like wow what they become now from years ago (lol)

Sometimes I see people misinterpreting Arya's character and honestly, all it does is make me appreciate her that much more. George could've easily written her into as a basic archetype and instead, he gave us one of the most complex and well-developed characters in the series and I'm forever grateful for that 🫶🏾
#arya stark#asoiaf#grateful everyday that George didn't write Arya as a basic NLOG type and instead we got a fleshed out character#with a complicated relationship with her gender role and self-perception#we could've had her disdain other women and instead we have a character who insists on the importance of women in a misogynistic society#gets revenge for a victim of a gang rape + takes care of a small child in a war zone despite being a child herself and defends + admires#+ fosters positive relationships with women from all different walks of life because of how they treat her#she has non-conforming interests but that also blends well with other traditionally feminine qualities#she has a sword! but she primarily has to rely on her intelligence and other skills to help her survive#she's a social creature who fosters relationships everywhere but she has to deal with the crushing weight of isolation and loneliness#she has maturity and intelligence beyond her years but she also captures the helplessness and vulnerability of a child#she can handle being personally mistreated but gets extremely defensive when it's someone she cares about being hurt#she's just so...well-written and the way she was ruined in the show was such a waste of excellent source material#being 100% serious when I say she is one of the best-written characters in fiction and her story is severely underrated#if we don't ever get the ending that George intended for her it'll be a tragedy

maybe its sample bias but i think it's kinda funny how most people I've seen who've played drakengard because of nier are making ending e THE endgoal and more often than not the main if not only reason they're playing the game at all and when they finally get it they're like "this is it the single most impactful, greatest moment of all gaming. im wiping tears from my eyes this is it" and then you see the drakengard fans who've played drakengard because they like drakengard and you ask them about ending e and they're like "eh. it was okay, i guess"
#gu6chan's musings#i think it's different when you view it as the ending/finale to the GAME vs the literal thing you play the game for#honestly though if im being 100% fr.... im kinda not even neutral on ending e i think it kinda sucks lol#like#i dont HATE it#but it's definitely really weak not even in a 'final fuck you to the player' type way just a.... bad way?#like its too absurd and out of nowhere to be taken seriously but it takes ITSELF too seriously to be considered a joke#so its just kinda a weird unsatisfying blend that left me like 'huh. i think they should have left off at ending d' which DOES manage to be#a sort of slap on the wrist 'reward' for players who CONTINUE to slaughter and thereby follow the general theme of the game while still#respecting the time and effort they put into THEIR product. it's not... satisfying? at least in the way an ending should be; but it still#felt like a worthwhile conclusion that solidly BUILT UP and RESPONDED to players' curiosity and expectations#ending e just kinda gave the feeling that the staff didn't really have confidence or even a thought players LIKED their product so they just#kinda threw whatever at them which in other cases it would be a silly joke#but positioning it as the 'finale' of the game just felt kinda wrong and disrespectful lol. left a bad taste in my mouth#bc again its ONE thing not to 'reward' players with a happy ending who are just casually playing and may be somewhat interested in the story#but if you're going to the point of collecting SIXTY FIVE WEAPONS its no longer just about casually playing#these ppl have a GENUINE drive and desire to see how much higher the stakes can get and again#the ending is just really.... lukewarm and unserious compared to the actual RESOLUTION players got regardless of the tone of the ending?#if that makes sense#im rambling at this point ending e isn't even my LEAST Favourite ending (I'm sorry c; I love you but that goes to you) but godddd#i have so many issues with it#rhythm game is fun once youve actually gotten the damn thing though

my uninformed american opinion is that i will be calling it derry not londonderry because im american and therefore will always support ireland if its ireland vs the british.
(i wasn't even going to post this but i wrote a whole essay in the tags so i don't want to waste that)
#i feel like i'm getting into very controversial waters here idk if i should say any of this#also. what do the actual people that live there call it bc i think that should be the end of it.#i saw on tiktok that the only foreign alliance that could make america turn against the uk would be ireland and i fully agree#(i live in new england. uhm. almost everyone here is irish) (irish american i suppose.)#i could talk about ireland and american relations. maybe i will.#here's my understanding of irish-american relations as someone who has never studied the topic in particular#but does have an interest in american history#first off. yes america is very good allies with the uk but culturally it's like. a bullying sort of thing. leftover resentment from the rev#i'm sure it's somewhat similar to everyone's resentment of america. maybe idk im not european#anyway america is built on underdog stories. thats like the foundation of our national culture. the american dream#and these stories started showing up innnnn .... the mid to late 1800s!!#do you know what also happened in the 1800s?#yup! irish people started fleeing their homeland to a better life (cough cough the americas)#so! in the time when stories about immigrants coming to america (the american dream- the most important part of us culture)#a ton of immigrants were irish! wow. do you see where i'm going with this#anyway about 9.5% of america is irish. which is A Lot (3rd most prominent ancestry)#and here in america bc being an immigrant and coming from immigrants and etc is kinda A Thing here#people typically hang on to their non-american identity#i mean i do. you can catch me talking about being french canadian a lot on tumblr.#another thing! even if you aren't irish american sometimes places r so irish that it kinda. blends into ur identification with a city#cough cough boston. cough cough massachusetts.#anyway . so. to recap#ireland and america share a common sorta not really enemy : the british. also they r the underdog which makes us sympathetic#And a lot of america has irish heritage and bc it's the us there's heritage actually matters (sorta)#and therefore the usa will always like ireland A Lot. or at least the people will.#rereading that i hope it makes sense#once again i am not a scholar and have not studied this topic these are just my inferences and observations#rain feathers talks#i will not be tagging this

2023 reads
Before The Devil Knows You’re Here
YA historical fantasy
follows a young Mexican-American poet in 1836 Wisconsin whose father dies and brother is stolen by a strange tree-like man
she goes on a magical quest to save him, with a young woodcutter she meets who’s also been tracking the man
intertwined with the man telling the story of how he came to be
blends the folktales of jonny appleseed & paul bunyan with faustian bargains and fairytale vibes
#Before The Devil Knows You’re Here#aroaessidhe 2023 reads#this is really good I enjoyed it a lot! very interesting blend of concepts that all fits together perfectly.#does have that fairytale insta-romance sort of thing that I'm not a fan of; but I suppose it works for the story.#and it's pretty short and succinct#my only live-reaction note: ooh tree man

you will never read the dream wormfic again
very sad, very tragic. the protagonist triggered with a brute power and then immediately killed his abusive parents who caused his trigger adn went on the run i miss him
#it actually had some interesting structural things going#the first few chapters (so AS FAR AS I GOT) were from the perspective of the PRT agent sent to investigate his case#he (agent) was being set up as a deuteragonist i think#it was also a nice way to avoid the cliche of starting with an onscreen trigger event#i ALSO haven't seen too many Brute MCs so that was something i looked forward to!#it obviously had weird dream elements too#the plot got blended together and it switched between reading the story and being in the story#and for some reason the gore scene had everyone as cats instead of humans. not even anthro cats. ah well#that stuff's easy enough to Edit Out In Post (upon waking up) as the case may be

knees weak, arms are heavy
#listen it's too late for me to be very articulate about it (and i'm only on s3 now; the rest of the show is kind of hazily blending) but#one of the things i find most interesting about the red john plot...or jane's pursuit of red john maybe#is how ...individualized? it is#obviously the characters have different opinions on it - is his mission right; is it justified; would it help him; would it condemn him#and you as a viewer can side with one opinion more than others (and the opinions change as the show goes on -it's dynamic#which is another interesting but separate train of thought)#but imo/iirc the show itself - the narrative i guess - never makes any outright statement/judgement/comes to any definitive conclusion#on the matter#idk it's just even this - obviously everything's part of the larger narrative but at the same time#his asking does illustrate at least some level of doubt that he didn't seem to have in the last two seasons#is it because of lisbon; and the team; because of kristina; because of the strain it's putting on himself#(probably not the last one; he is demonstrably cavalier when it comes to his own wellbeing)#and he just happens to have the perfect man to express those doubts to right in front of him#(and that man just happens to be noah bennet alskdfja)#had winter said no what would his reaction have been? would his doubts have gotten worse - led to him taking a step towards giving it up?#would he have doubled down? we have no way of knowing because for this man; for this character it was worth it#and that helps shore up jane's belief that it would still be worth it to him too#idk i'm not making sense but it just feels like there's a level of grey area/audience interpretation to this story#rather than a hard line being drawn (by the story itself) on whether the actions taken in it are good or bad and i appreciate that#character-focused vs a morality tale maybe but that's more of an extreme phrasing#anyway ignore me i'm -#tm

#Both in the internet safety sense and the 'getting shittalk for your interest' sense#Im very protective of my interest in games because it really did keep me afloat in dark times#and the blending of mechanics and story type of shit is so appealing to Me!!!!!!!!#and my parents cant see that and i can see it's gonna affect my baby sister real bad in the future#Aoaiahsghshshsjsiuhhjhhh..#still thinking abt the time my mom scolded me for pausing my sister (4 at the time)'s youtube video??#because the autoplay put on 'inside out teenage pregnancy ' and like??? also i do think that it’s cool as an opener that it doesn’t really matter if you pick cats or dogs in the scheme of things. i like that kind of thing in choose your own adventures for a myriad of reasons including pacing. just the concept that some choices don’t really matter, and some choices matter a lot, and some choices matter but seem arbitrary and some choices seem important but affect nothing, are all interesting dynamics to play around with in that setting. so like i would have to guess that this was mostly to show off how the unlisted video features was going to work but it would be cool if that idea prevailed in the story line that some things just don’t really matter. because then that gives the audience a chance to ask themselves, what are the things that Do matter in this universe. and i think that’s a really interesting question that can flesh out a lot for world building and differentiate one adventure from another.
#nightmare.personal#gen loss spoilers#generation loss spoilers#sorry this is a little bit of a ramble but in my defense i do find choose your own adventure stories. VERY interesting.#i never understood the idea that those stories (or 2nd POV in general don't get me started) were immature or self important#i think they can do so much for establishing a plot in a very immersive and unique way#so i'm really hoping gen loss takes this in a direction where we can really glean a lot about the world#especially leaning heavier on the themes we're seeing here of self importance and wisdom predominantly#life v death is a cool investigation but a lot broader. i think the choice of you or them and power or wisdom can be really indicative#of some kind of persona a person has to don on in this setting#okay sorry for the rambling this is the first time i have really felt properly invested in GL#and even really like i know i'm not as stoked as i would like to be but i still think ranboo is doing something really cool here#i think choosing your adventure blended with analog horror is a pretty neat niche

no but like there's writers out there attending classes by garth greenwell ocean vuong brandon taylor etc meanwhile the intro to creative writing class i did in my first year was run by a guy who declared repetition 'lazy' and called one of the student's pieces perfect in workshop as if that's how you should run a workshop
#writing class i did in third year was GREATTT though so we move#didnt do a writing class in second year though because the first one was so bad LOL#my uni only offers writing at MA level so they blend a writing course into the english BA so i was like i guess this is all i got......#the first year workshop i was fighting for my life....i hate when it's structured very strictly into What Is Good About This Piece#and then Okay What Didn't We Like#rather than a fluid convo#and like there was never any discussion or teaching on how to actually actively critique and talk about a piece so none of it was productiv#my only thing i got to work with after was that i tense skipped LIKE!!! I WAS NOT FULFILLED#rip to yall but i dont categorise my stories into strictly what is good about it and what can be improved its soo much more blurred#but i'm still bitter like a class full of students and The Teacher all saying they have no suggestions to improve a story because#they think its perfect like thanks for setting a standard i guess!!#not trying to idolise like who knows what their classes are like...but im just like OOOH im so intrigued#the way they already talk about writing is so interesting to me
