Fic Writer Question Meme!

I got tagged by @ihni, @callieb, and @magniloquent-raven, probably because I haven’t blown up their inboxes in like a week and it’s a way of reaching through Tumblr and checking my pulse! XD THANKS GUYS it was fun reading yours!

How many works do you have on AO3?

I have forty works on Ao3...but a couple of them are compilations of separate, finished fics? If I broke those up, it would be 71 stories. Mostly Harringrove. Huh, that is a bigger number than I expected. Oh! Wait! My other account (my weird porn practice account) has seven works, so I have 78 works on Ao3! I am glad my FF.net fics are disregarded here XD XD XD

What’s your total AO3 word count?

705,045 on my main account + 38,466 on my secret porny account (sssh it’s secret) gives us 743,511! From just this year, it’s (combined) 466,978. I have a full-time temp job through November, so that will probably taper off!

How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

Ten fandoms on Ao3, though the two Superbat fics always get weird because one is from watching the animated series, and one is making fun of the DCU, so they come up as different fandoms. Doesn’t look that impressive, laid out like that! A lot of my wordcount is my monster fic Strangest, at nearly 200k.

I’ve also got several Gundam Wing WIPs on FF.net that I wrote in like 2001 and posted in 2010. My favorite fic there got deleted in the purge and I have no copy...*sob* *wail* It was so funny, darn it! I bet it wouldn’t read the same to me now, but I wish I could find out!

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Baby's First Punk Rock Concert (Harringrove) is my top fic, which I credit MAINLY to @gravegroves art, because it was middle of the crowd until then! It’s an AU where Billy’s mom gets him away from Neil and moves to Chicago, where he runs into Will at a very gay punk rock concert in 1984, and keeps an eye on him. Will introduces him to Steve.

Blind as a Bat (Batman: The Animated Series) comes in second. It led for a long time due to the age and size of the Batman fandom, but our boys Steve and Billy stole the show at last! It’s a 5+1 fic where Superman tries to confess to Batman and Batman assumes he’s possessed, or mind-controlled, or something. Superman nearly tears his hair out in frustration.

Strangest (Harringrove) down to third! Oh, my heart! My nearest and dearest knocked from first place! My first and favorite Harringrove fic, a fixit I started in a rage after finishing season two. After the night Bob dies, Steve finds Billy in the trunk where Max left him, and they come to a sort of truce, then friendship, and then more.

Five Conversations That Probably Happened, and One That Didn't (Teen Wolf, Sterek) My first Sterek fic! I suspect the only reason I have three fics with more kudos than this juggernaut of a fandom is that I wrote this as missing scenes, and it really makes more sense in and around the show. Just reading it by itself is probably confusing...

Birdwatching for Dummies (Stranger Things) Max sees something lingering around the Hargrove house, and calls Steve in for demodog backup. In the couple days he’s parked outside, he finds out a lot about Billy, and Billy finds out a lot about Steve.

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

I always reply to comments, though I may wait a few days until I have time to think about replies, or sometimes I use them as a reward to get myself to finish a chapter! I want to thank people who are sweet enough to come up with something to say about my writing and tell me, even if it’s a keysmash or a smiley. =D

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Hrm. I mostly write about characters working through things or getting their lives together, so a fic where they didn’t do that would be kind of unsatisfying, I think? My fics aren’t uncomplicatedly fluffy, but I think all the endings are happy or at least hopeful--with the possible exception of the 5+1 Teen Wolf fic, where it’s fine unless you know the very next thing to happen in the show is Stiles gets possessed, and I ended with some line like “You know I won’t turn evil on you”...ahahaha it FEELS like a happy ending though

Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

I like fusions more than crossovers, and the craziest (unpublished) one I’ve started writing is Stranger Things/Sailor Moon.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Not really.

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I do! I try to make it very, very specific to the characters and what they’re thinking and feeling, and they keep stopping to talk. XD Also it tends to be kind of funny, because sex is kind of a ridiculous thing to do, when you get into the details.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I doubt it! I googled one just now, and I was surprised that a different Ao3 user came up and I didn’t, but it was just in their bookmarks with a nice comment. ^^

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Noooo...one day, maybe!

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I’ve sort of co-outlined a lot in chat, but I’ve never co-written a fic. I’ve co-written a lot of original work with people, but the characterization on established characters is so subjective I feel like I’d keep wanting to time-out and discuss.

What’s your all time favorite ship?

Kirk and Spock, or maybe Grantaire and Enjolras? Neither of whom I’ve written for. I mostly can’t read and write for the same ships.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I wrote (and finished) a huge long fairytale AU back in my GW days that was this dreamy, surreal cracktastic...I don’t know what, but I lost half of it in a notebook that vanished. Only half of it was ever posted, and to this day I can’t remember what the ending was. I’ve never been able to duplicate the bizarre energy of the first half.

What are your writing strengths?

I like characterization and dialogue. I’m chipping away at plot, action scenes, and sex...slowly...

What are your writing weaknesses?

I’m very, very focused, so I’ll forget things that add lovely dimension like what they’re listening to, or to describe their eyes when someone looks at them. When I remember sometimes I’m very proud of the emotional beat it reminded me to add!

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Huh. I never really thought about it. I don’t like when stories are inaccessible--like I don’t want to be expected to google translate entire exchanges in order to understand--but I do like when a character uses short phrases or exclaims in a native language as a way to deepen their characterization?

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

The very first I invented stories for was the animated Thumbelina, because I returned from the theater so annoyed I spent all night rewriting the story in my head. The first fandom I wrote words down for would probably be...Gargoyles, the animated Disney show, because my BFF that I co-wrote with used characters from it. On my own, writing and posting stories, the first was Gundam Wing, way back in the forums on the site Gundam Wing Addiction.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

Oh, Strangest, definitely, forever! Lots of thought and love dumped wholesale into that monster of a fic!

GG Strive: Highlights pt. 2

Welcome to part 2 of the GG Strive highlights! If you haven’t seen the previous one, please go here. During the livestream, the developers announced the official website for GG Strive(both English and Japanese) will feature content to help people understand the lore of Guilty Gear. The website features manga based on the events of the games separated by chapters. There’s also Youtube videos of the Xrd series’ story modes uploaded directly from Arc System Works. My perspective of the manga will mainly be from me being a long-time fan of GG. I’ll look at how well and how much information it gives to those not familiar with the series. And, I’ll also be reviewing it as a manga in general with how the writing is, etc. I’ll be using the grade system to judge each aspect. This will definitely be a long post since it’s about the lore. WARNING: My review will contain some spoilers. If you haven’t read the manga yet or you don’t wanted to be spoiled, it’s best not to read this post. (Here is the line for the GG manga!) https://www.guiltygear.com/ggst/en/story/ Readability: The GG Story Digest comics follow the format of reading from right-to-left and turning the pages is from the left side; this is different if you’re not used to reading Japanese material. The font size and style of the dialogue, titles, etc. is generally clear enough. But there are times where it may be hard to see like this one.

The story introduction text of Chapter 5 is mixed in with the background image that has some dark shades of gray. This made it hard to see what it says, especially since the website doesn’t have a zoom-in/zoom-out feature for the pages. You would have to use your browser if you have trouble seeing certain words. Other than this, the readability is very good! Rating: A Artstyle & Presentation: The artist chosen to do the GG Digest comics is Sumeragi, whom you may recognize because she’s known to do artwork for Blazblue. The presentation of her art is nicely done from the opening scenery of each chapter to the expressions on the characters’ faces; there’s a good amount of detail on everything. My favorite part about Sumeragi’s style is the beautiful, soft colors implemented at certain moments in the story like this one.

It perfectly highlights how special the moment is whenever I see it, but it also makes me wish all of the chapters were in color. Sumeragi’s art fits the modern anime style that’s been more mainstream for a while. I think her artstyle is really cute of how she interprets the characters’ designs. I couldn’t help but be reminded of Blazblue more than Guilty Gear at times, though. I personally would loved it if they got with an artist with a distinct style reminiscent of the 90s/early 2000s(for example like Outlaw Star or Record of Lodoss War). Other than this part, I like looking at the pages! Rating: B + (Note: I’ll be going by the English version of the manga by the western side of Arc System Works. The translation has gotten better over the years, but I’ll check the Japanese one for any noticeable differences in the future.) Writing/Pacing: The general quality itself is good, so there won’t be errors like “Welcome to die!” or “This guy are sick”, XD. I noticed the dialogue based on the events of the first Guilty Gear game is improved and the personalities of the characters is conveyed well in each chapter. It does a great job of providing brief character bios and the world of GG in a straightforward way. If you were ever confused on which paths took place as part of the main story, the writing will help make it easier. The writing also adds small details in some of the chapters that you may recognize. For example, on this page below...

For GG fans, doesn’t the man Sol is talking to look familiar? It’s the same guy Sol was stepping on from this.

What happens is the following page between them is probably the funniest part to me throughout all the chapters. The final chapter of the manga ends on a cliffhanger, which is done on purpose for you to watch the Story Modes on Youtube. Now for the negative part... The website does state it’s a quick-overview of events, but I think it’s too quick. There’s so many important details missing that the manga completely ignores. Examples include information about Forbidden Beasts, the Assassin’s Guild, the other Sacred Treasures(like Anji Mito’s fans called Zessen), nations like Zepp, the P.W.A.B.(Postwar Administration Bureau), etc. Other mainstay characters that play supporting/vital role to the series(for example Faust) is reduced to being just there for 1 or 2 chapters. There’s some that don’t appear at all like Slayer, I-No, and Anji Mito to name a few. Things like this is essential to world building in general, but especially for introducing new people to Guilty Gear. Except for Chapters 5 and 3, the chapters of the manga is short. The final chapter being short is understandable, but not for the previous ones. It ruins the overall pacing of the manga because it’s too focused on getting to the point instead of inform you of the details. The second part is something the official GG website lets you know immediately; there will be some events that differ from the games. This itself isn’t an issue, though there are some things I personally disliked. One of them for me is how the Xrd SIGN design of Justice being incorporated in the earlier events of GG(like The Missing Link). That design of her looks like a xenomorph reject with breasts, XD. It’s not as amazing as Justice’s iconic, mech-like design. Another one is based on GGX Plus when Sol encounters Dizzy. It follows the game version at first, but it then changes a bit with creating a scenario where Ky intervenes. How it was done ruined how is in the game with Sol showing some of his humane side to Dizzy and sparing her on his own. It could’ve been done better. I think it’s best to view the GG Digest manga as a basic guide to the world of GG for those new to the series. For long-time fans, it’s just nice seeing more GG related content in general. It obviously doesn’t negate the source material like the novels, Drama CDs, etc. The manga is definitely worth reading, but still important to play or watch the games’ stories for full context. Rating: C I’m glad the story of the Guilty Gear series is being promoted more in the West. I love the lore of GG and its characters, especially since it has the depth of an JRPG rather than a generic plot in most fighting games. Sadly, it’s not easy finding info due to either it’s Japan only and/or it’s very rare. There are a few fanmade English sites and blogs continuously trying to provide this for years. Each of them do have some reliable info that can be trusted, so it’s good to browse around to put the pieces of the puzzle together. So far, there’s no #1 source for GG lore yet because besides the part of finding info, there’s also still areas where mistranslations, misinterpretations, etc. of GG is still present. Mistakes like this happens sometimes and not always easy to spot, but can be fixed with no problem! But sadly, it isn’t always that simple because some people handling GG information be very... “heavy-handed” instead of helpful. So I think it’s best to be not afraid to check and dig, dig, dig! I’m still digging for more GG material, XD. Stay turned for part 3!

Bumblebee though out animation.

Here’s Bumblebee though out cartoons. With the DC Superhero Girls reboot being out I’ve been thinking about Bumblebee, so let look at Bumblebee’s evolution in cartoons.

First we have Bumblebee in the old Teen Titans cartoon. This is her first appearance in animation. She’s in 8 episodes but doesn’t talk in one episode and in another episode is just a cameo. She is probably one of my first times seeing a black female superhero after Storm and She-bang. This is my favorite version of Bumblebee. I wish she was in more episodes, she doesn’t do much in the later episodes with her. I really like her character design. It’s one of my favorite designs for her. I wish they had her be a scientist or a scientific genius. She’s very smart in the show but they don’t explore it. Being a scientist or scientific genius is a big important part of her character. I also wish they had her be with The Herald.

Next we have her in Teen Titans Go. She’s kinda just a background character in the show until now. For a long time she didn’t do much or anything. She was just there until now. I really wish she did something sooner in the show. She was the only Titans East member who hadn’t had a episode about her. Could they not get her original voice actor or something ? They could easily have her be in the Girls Night Out episodes. The episodes that focus on the girls are some of the best episodes of the show. Her design is really cute. It’s just her design from the old show but with hoop ear rings and different shoes. They changed her design a little bit later on when they finally did stuff with her. They gave her yellow shoes. She’s in the tie in comics for the show. I was making this post before the 6th Titan episodes so I had to change somethings. I’m really happy they’re finally doing stuff with her in Teen Titans Go. The episodes with her start out with the Titans going to superhero summer camp and the Titans East are sick except for Bumblebee. The camp episodes reminds me of those episodes when the Titans were stuck on a island. Bumblebee asks to hang out with the Titans at camp since they were the only people she knew there. Robin didn’t want her to join them but after bugging him and helping the Titans win he let her join them during summer camp. After superhero summer camp ended the Titans wanted her to the join the team so she joined them. She could only be a member of the team for the summer but I hope she stays a permanent member of the team. I’ve seen people say it doesn’t sense for Bumblebee to be the 6th Titans and that it should be Terra but it does make sense. Bumblebee actually is a member of the Teen Titans and has been for a long time while Terra is actually a villain and the old show made her sympathetic when she’s not. Bumblebee is a great addition to the team and show. She makes the show fresh. I just wish they had be a super genius. I’d hate to have another Teen Titans show ignore her being a scientific genius like the old show did.

Than we have Bumblebee in Young Justice. This is her second animated appearance. We see her in the first season as one of Miss Martian and Superboy’s classmate. She was a cheerleader. In season 2 she is a member of the team. She has a slightly bigger role in season 2 but she still doesn’t do much. She’s The Atom’s lab assistant so she’s a scientific genius. I like that they remember her relationship with Mal Duncan. He is Bumblebee’s boyfriend and later husband. Most people don’t know Mal or know her relationship with him. They are one of the longest lasting Titans couples. Mal was in the old Teen Titans cartoon as The Herald but outside the tie in comics they didn’t interact with other in the old show which is weird knowing their history together. As of this post she hasn’t done much in season 3 so far. She’s only been in 2 episodes so far this season. She is pregnant which great but I hope she does more this season. I also hope we get to see her baby cause she recently had a baby in the comics but we never got to see her on panel or learn her name. We know the baby is a girl and that’s it. Bumblebee has a nice design in the show. It’s reminds me of her second costume from the comics. I like this version of Bumblebee but I wish she did more in the show.

Bumblebee from the Teen Titans Judas Contract movie. She’s only in the beginning of the movie so we only see a little bit of her. I hope if the Teen Titans get another animated movie in this universe I hope we see Bumblebee again.

The DC Super Hero Girls franchise. If you ever wanted Bumblebee to get more focus or have centeric stories about her, this is it. She get’s more focus here but still not enough focus. Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Batgirl get the most focus in the show and franchise. Luckily she does have a book about her, Bumblebee at Super Hero High by Lisa Yee. It’s a very good book and it dives more into her character than the show does. Everyone should read it. This is a really good version of Bumblebee. This is my second favorite version of her. They actually remember that she’s a scientific genius, especially in her book. She has a fun personality. On the old web site they say one of her personality traits is bubbly but she was more peppy and spunky than bubbly. She’s different from how black girls are usually portrayed in cartoons. DC Superhero Girls isn’t just a show or web show. It’s a franchise. It’s got toys. It was created to sell toys cause there was no toys of female superheroes. It’s got comics, graphic novels and books. It’s got movies, dress up and Halloween costumes. So Bumblebee getting a lot of exposure but she didn’t get that many merchandise from the old version. She only got 5 dolls, 2 action figures and some other stuff but the dolls and action figures were the main merch. Hopefully she’ll get more mech in the reboot. Since she’s getting more exposure I think DC should push her more in the comics.

Bumblebee in the DC Superhero Girls reboot. In the reboot she is still a scientific genius but it’s more explicit. They don’t just say she’s super smart they show her being super smart by her saying smart things and inventing things. They say her real name, Karen Beecher. Like the old show she is different from how black girls are usually portrayed in cartoons but this time she is shy, timid and awkward. She’s very cute. She’s got a good design but the only thing I don’t like her design is her skin being light. Bumblebee is a dark skin girl. She has always been canonly a dark skin black girl. Like stick to the canon. Every time there’s a black character with dark skin I’m like ‘Bumblebee should’ve been dark like that’. Her skin is dark in promo art and on her doll. She looks kinda dark when her helmet’s on and when she’s small. Dark skin black girls never get to be soft, shy, timid and nerdy in media especially in cartoons. It would’ve been nice to see Bumblebee be that. She should’ve been as dark as Catwoman. Besides that her design is nice. This is a good version. They’ve said there isn’t going to be a any romance in the show but I think it’s a missed opportunity to have her be with Mal.

So that’s Bumblebee in different cartoons. I feel like she’s gets more love in cartoons, she’s very criminal underused in the comics. She does more in cartoons so of course the cartoons versions of her get more love. I hope being in so many cartoons helps makes her popular so gets used more in comics. Y’know for someone who’s DC’s first black female superhero, DC sure don’t seem to care about her but someone at WB animation seems to care enough about her to put her in both DC Superhero Girls shows and Teen Titans Go. I’m glad todays kids get to grow up with her with those shows.

I want to post this sooner but Teen Titans Go decided to finally do stuff with her and I wanted wait to see how she was in the show and the DC Super Hero Girls reboot was still new.

Things I want in future cartoons with Bumblebee...

I want them have her be a scientist or at least a scientific genius. Being a super genius is a important part of her character. Her having powers is cool but it’s more interesting having her be a scientific genius who makes a super suit to give herself powers.

I want her to be with Mal Duncan. Mal is the whole reason why she becomes a superhero in the first place. They’re a good couple. Bumblebee is one of the few black girls to be in a romantic relationship. Black girls rarely get to be in romantic relationships in media. Like just let Karen and Mal be together. Let them be the power couple they’re meant to be.

Another thing I want in future cartoons with her is getting more focus. Luckily she gets focus in both DC Super Hero Girls shows and Teen Titans Go right now but I want it to continues. Getting more focus gives her more attention which could help her do more in comics. Outside media really do help comic book characters do more in comics. She doesn’t get focus in comics. Give her centric episodes about her.

And that’s what I in future cartoon adaptations of Bumblebee. Let her be a super scientific genius. Let her be with Mal and give her more focus.

"Right... well, I'm officially off duty once I ring you up, so why don't you two get out of here and have some fun."

Danny fished into his pocket one handed, finding his wallet. He tried to open it and get a ten out while still holding on to Sam, but it was pretty difficult so he was forced to let go in order to pay. He thought it was a little overly dramatic of his heart, but it literally stopped beating out of disappointment for a second. God. He was already completely whipped.

Sam stood up and grabbed the keys, going back to his other table to put on his coat while Danny got his change back from Ronnie. She, now sitting at the table with her other brothers, waved them goodbye as they exited the cozy diner, stepping out into the frigid snow.

Sam immediately grabbed Danny's hand back, putting both of them in his pocket as he started to walk around the back of the building to the employee's section of the parking lot.

Sam suddenly stopped, turning to look at Danny. "Shit, wait, how did you come here? Do you have a car?"

"Uhh, my mom dropped me off."

Sam nodded and kept walking. Danny, for some reason, didn't want to leave it at that - Sam didn't seem overly judgemental, but he wanted to show that he wasn't a completely helpless dork.

"Usually I get her car on the weekends," he continued, "but she had some thing to attend over in North Star and she couldn't get a ride. She brought me here and gave me money for the bus to take home."

"Hey, well, now you don't have to take the bus!"

Sam grinned at him, unlocking the door to his sister's car and opening it for Danny. He smiled to himself and ducked his head, getting in. Fuck whatever societal expectations - not like they really applied to gay couples anyways - he loved to be treated sweetly, too.

Starting the ignition and carefully backing out of the parking space, Sam laughed, loud and happy. Danny looked at him curiously.

"Oh my god, I just picked up a total hottie and we're going on a rendezvous in my sister's car! This is crazy!"

Danny laughed, too, amazed at the situation. Like, holy shit, he was in this guy's (sister's) car that he had met less than an hour ago and they were on their way to who knew where. And he didn't even care! Never in his life had Danny been less concerned about the future; his music, his golfing, school, the world at large, none of it mattered when Sam was sitting next to him, singing along to Jimi Hendrix and looking absolutely stunning in the passing lamplight.

They drove for a time, speeding past cozy houses and dense acres of trees that outlined the starlit sky. Sam didn't seem to have a destination in mind any time soon, and Danny didn't really care if the car never stopped driving. The radio started to fuzz out as the got further into the woods, and nothing but an old talk show was coming in, so Sam had Danny put in his Clapton CD he'd left in Ronnie's car.

"I was looking for that! Figured I'd left it in here, but I don't get the car as often now that she's working more."

Danny nodded, enjoying hearing these little bits about Sam's siblings. It always interested him - learning small facts about people and getting glimpses into their lives, even more so when he was very interested in that person themselves, too.

"So, Ronnie is older than you, right?"

"Yeah, yeah she's a year older than me, she just started taking some classes at the adult school in Saginaw. She's been working at Gerald's for awhile, but she gets adult hours, now, which is good because we like to stay out late and go see her," Sam laughed.

"Oh, that's cool. What about your brothers, the twins? Are they your only other siblings?"

"Yes, fortunately. I don't know how Mom and Dad handled us, we're all within three years of each other. What about you, are you an only child?"

Danny had been right, they were all close in age. Four kids, two of them twins! He still couldn't wrap his head around how that could possibly work out for the parents, but they all seemed to be nice people and clearly got along well. It was pretty nice, actually, having a (potential) boyfriend with a good relationship with his family - Danny knew that it might of been a slightly unfair dating requirement, but he wanted someone who loved their family as much as he did.

"I have a younger sister, she's a freshman at Frankenmuth High. I'm a senior, by the way."

"Wait, what? Me too! I wonder why I've never seen you if we go to the same school. How have I never noticed you before?" Sam exclaimed, making a sharp turn and pulling off of the paved road onto a dirt track.

Danny contemplated that, too. How one Earth had he never seen Sam if they went to the same fucking school? Sam was, like, *magnetic* or something, it didn't make any sense.

Sam interrupted him, not meaning to, as he was about to speak. "Alright, we're here. Sorry, continue," he grinned at Danny, looking sheepish at cutting him off. Danny smiled in return, telling him it was alright.

They got out of the car, shutting the doors gently so as not to disturb the peaceful nighttime forest, and also not to dent Ronnie's car.

Danny resumed what he was saying as Sam led him around to the trunk and started rooting around. "About not seeing me at school, well, you didn't have a reason to until now. I mean, it's not like a lot of people know me, I don't have many friends and I kinda tend to stay to the side."

"I can't imagine how you don't have tons of people hanging off of you," Sam said, looking up at Danny with his foxy eyes glinting in the moonlight. (That was cheesy, Danny knew - but his eyes were beautiful) "Like, the only explanation I can come up with as to why you don't have half of the school constantly begging you to notice *them* is because everyone is crazy."

He blushed and grinned, enjoying the feeling of being the one flirted with for once. It was beyond comprehensible for Danny as to why Sam seemed so taken by *him*, but it wasn't something he wanted to give up anytime soon if he could help it, confusion or not.

"Wow, you are a smooth talker, aren't you?"

Sam snorted. "Hardly. I'm telling you what I honestly think, and it's this: I've known you for maybe two hours, and you are the kindest, sweetest, smartest, most beautiful person I've ever met. Past maybe my mother, but that's different. You deserve all the friends in the world, and you could have any boy or girl you choose, I'm sure."

"Well, I'm choosing you," Danny said, blushing and grabbing Sam's hand. He didn't know what it was, but he was being particularly mushy today. Luckily, Sam seemed to really like it.

Sam led him away from the car after locking it up, one arm carrying a briefcase looking container, and the other's hand holding Danny's. They walked through the light snowfall and under heavy bows of trees, going along a path Danny couldn't see but that, apparently, Sam knew well.

Danny had the quick thought that Sam was going to murder him, and maybe he shouldn't ignore his survival instincts, but he decided that Sam would *never* kill him. He also asked, though, just to be sure.

"Are you planning on killing me out here?"

Sam laughed his donkey bray, swinging their hands and taking another slight turn around a large tree. "No, I don't think I'd be able to physically overpower you, you're probably way stronger than I am."

"Oh, yeah? But what about a gun? What's in the box, Sammy?"

Danny was grinning inside, though externally he blocked it so that his facade wouldn't slip. Sam stopped and stood in front of him.

"I'll show you what's in the box!" Sam said, holding it up in front of his crotch like that SNL sketch.

"Ooh, my favorite!" Danny wiggled his brows, staring at the box where, right behind it, was Sam's dick. They both laughed, faces rosy and eyes crinkled.

Danny was glad that he had chosen Sam over Ronnie, not only for the fact that Sam actually liked him back, but that he got along so well with him. Even if the romance was a bust, he could tell that they would be very good friends, the connection was that immediate. And, he liked the idea of being best friends with a guy and then also getting to fuck his brains out at the end of the day.

'I'm getting ahead of myself, he said he has standards.'

'*No*, he said that he won't fuck you in his sister's car, but he wants to.'

"Sam, dude, where are we going? What are we doing out here, like, really?" He choked out, dying to know and also hoping that the plans included at least a kiss.

Danny hadn't been this desperate to kiss someone in- possibly forever, really. He didn't know why he was so intent on getting Sam's lips on him (though, he supposed he did: like, *look* at Sam's mouth). It wasn't like himself to be this out of control - albeit on his own head - but Sam had this effect on him.

Logically, Danny knew that if Sam wanted to go slower he would totally respect that choice and not even be put out about it, he liked just being with Sam that much. But, a kiss.... He wanted just a taste, in case this was the only date he got to have with Sam.

"We're almost there, and then I'll show you," Sam said quietly.

They continued walking, going up a gentle slope and then around a giant boulder. When they came around the other side, Danny saw that the rock had been obscuring a pristinely white, snow covered clearing. All around them, flakes fell softly from the sky, some decorating the trees, and others landing on their heads.

Sam turned to look at him, grinning. "Isn't it pretty? I feel like, whenever I come here, I've entered another dimension or something."

Danny nodded, his breath nearly taken away by the delicate magic of the moment. Well, it wasn't completely perfect - his nose was running, his gloveless hands were both freezing and clammy in Sam's, and he had no fucking clue where he was - but Sam was so, so beautiful in this place he had brought them to.

They stood and stared at the scene, taking in everything, from the stars peaking out from in between the clouds to the feel of their thumbs rubbing back and forth over each other's knuckles.

After a few minutes of silence, Sam broke it, speaking softly, "This is one of my favorite places on Earth to be. We come here during all seasons, but there's just something more.... *special*, I guess, when everything is pure and damp and quiet."

"It's really nice, I can see why you like to bring people here."

"Actually," Sam paused, looking shyly at Danny, "I've never taken anyone else. As far as I can tell, my family are the only people who know about it."

"Really? I- thank you so much for bringing me to such a special spot for you," he gasped, grinning back at Sam's little smile.

Danny was floored, absolutely amazed with this moment in his life. Sam had, for reasons he couldn't understand but figured he'd better stop worrying about, taken him to a place that no one else had been to. It was an intimate, deeply trusting gesture that he'd made, and Danny received it full-heartedly. The scenery felt sacred, now, in a way that he couldn't quite describe but that filled him with content.

"This really does mean a lot, that you're letting me view your spot. I don't know how to say thank you enough for trusting me with this- can I, maybe, take you somewhere special to me next time?"

He was shooting his shot, and praying to whatever deity felt nearest in this winter forest that it would hit it's mark. Sam had decided to take him here right after meeting him, so it *would* work, right? Danny really fucking hoped that it did, and that he hadn't ruined the relationship they were building. It was newly born and a little confusing, but in a good way; they were already fused together somehow, a connection running through them to make it seem like they'd known each other for years instead if hours.

"I'll go anywhere you wanna take me," Sam answered. He looked aware of how cliche what hed said was, but he also didnt seem to care. Damny was internally screaming with joy. "I wasn't sure where I was driving, at first, but I ended up on the path here, and it felt right. You being here feels nice and right."

Danny was smiling openly, happiness on display. He swung their hands and looked up at the sky, where the snow clouds where starting to clear, the last of the flakes finishing their journey to the ground. Sam leaned into him slightly, a pleasurable warmth permeating into Danny's body through the many layers of their clothing.

"This is perfect! I was hoping the clouds would clear up, cause this wouldnt really be much fun without it. Now, c'mon, let me show you the inside."

Danny was completely confused, again. "The inside?"

Phan Cam: First Day, First Year

REMINDER: Keep in mind that this takes place in a fictional version of the world where things are a little different, but some real-world problems do happen here. So please forgive us if this brings up any hurtful subjects.

NOTE OR WARNING: Tokyo University is very strange to the other admin who is an American and doesn’t understand it. Like there being more than one campus in the city or which teaches what. So we’re just going to make it up as we go. But you can give him more clear and simple information on our sister site. Also, this post may get a bit long.

>The University of Tokyo, Komaba Campus. Our first day of college at last. Partly because of the coronavirus, they started the year late.

Everyone, we have arrived.

Keitaro Urashima: Yeah, Seta’s being tested for the coronavirus today. I haven’t got any news yet, but until then, he asked me to fill in for his class.

Queen: I see. I wonder what if the rest of the faculty will be fine.

>Suddenly, a huge gust of wind blows. We’re nearly knocked down when we look up.

As I live and breathe.

>The woman in the blue coat and red hat came closer and closer down with her umbrella until she finally landed and closes it.

Woman with English Accent: (no picture at her request) You really should remember which side of the road they drive in Japan, Keitaro, you nearly ran over these students who are just hear for their first day. Mr. Amamiya, Mr. Sakamoto, Ms. Takamaki, Mr. Kitagawa, Ms. Nijima, Ms. Okumura, Detective Akechi, you need to be more aware of your surroundings despite standing in awe, you were lucky you heard the van coming otherwise you would have to spent the first day of the new year in the hospital which is already full at the moment. And Mr. Sakamoto, you really need to watch your mouth, there might be children nearby who may hear you.

Joker: You know who we are?

???: Of course she know. She’s Mary Poppins.

>We turn quickly to see Ryu and Wolf.

Crow: Oh, good morning, Ryu san, Zenckichi san.

Mary Poppins: Mary.

Wolf: Who else?

Wolf: Forgive me.

Keitaro Urashima: What brings you here? You know we’re in a state of emergency at the moment.

Mary Poppins: I can assure you that I have been thoroughly check. I am not carrying the coronavirus. However, the English Literature teacher, Mr. Dokusha, tested positive. Fortunately, it was a minor case and is expected to recover very soon. But in the meantime, I shall be substituting for him. But I am still first and foremost a nanny, so I’m only available certain days while also looking after children.

Queen: I see. But they does not explain why these two are here.

Ryu: You know which child she’s nannying? Kuri. I know Hase will be taking online classes this year, but with Inaba doing deliveries, he needs a little more help then the other tenants can offer.

Wolf: And I’m here to make sure things will be fine with Ms. Mary Poppins since she is English and the state of emergency has cautioned international travel.

Mary Poppins: I am very glad you are here for that. Thank you.

Wolf: You’re welcome.

Mary Poppins: Now, inside. The Dean is about to speak and we shouldn’t stand outside for too long. Spit Spot.

>After a speech from the Dean gave a speech about how we have to stay strong in times like these (especially since more or less of the student body chose to study from home) and to make the most of it, we gathered together discuss the mysterious Mary Poppins..

Crow: I have heard her name a few time back at the apartment. I was told she stayed there a couple of times. I guess she just arrived to day...

By umbrella, no less.

Panther: I wonder what kind of teacher she’ll be like.

Fox: Me and Ren will find out soon enough, we have her first.

Skull: Wish we could join ya, but I’ve got my own class. (sad) Why’d it hafta be Math?

Panther: I have Acting Class.

Noir: I need to get to Agricultural Studies.

Queen: History of Law is up for me and Akechi.

Crow: Right, so we’ll see each other at lunch.

>We agree and go our separate ways.

>Fox and I arrive at our classroom. Not many student were there, but there were cameras and monitors for students studying from home. Me and Fox sit together (probably the only ones who are). Then, Mary Poppins comes.

Mary Poppins: Welcome, class. As the Dean had already announced, I will be teaching this class for a time. Now, for the book we will be starting with is one of my favorites: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Holmes has appeared a number of times in Sir Doyle’s works. There is even a museum dedicated to him on the real life 221B Baker Street in London, England. Of course, there have been a few times when when Holmes went on many cases and adventures with characters from other works. Such as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the dual-personality doctor of Robert Louis Stevenson, Count Dracula of Bram Stoker, and even, though it only in a video game... a famous thief. Does anyone here know who that thief is?

>I have a feeling she’s looking at me.

Mary Poppins: How about you, Mr. Amamiya? Do you know the famous thief of another work who went against Holmes?

Mary Poppins: That is correct. You seem to know much about this gentleman thief.

Mary Poppins: Anyway, yes, Arsene Lupin, who was created by Maurice Leblanc, once went up against Sherlock Holmes. As for the rest of you, if you thought for a moment that it was James Moriarty, that is the wrong answer. Moriarty was also created by Sir Doyle as the nemesis of Holmes.

Male Masked Student: No way. He got it right.

Female Masked Student: It actually quite smart to know something like that. Maybe I should get his number.

He’s already taken.

Female Masked Student: (surprised) Really? The two of you are together?

Mary Poppins: If we can get back on subject. Now, I wish you all to write a short report about what you think of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. You have until the end of class. Don’t worry, those studying from home, we have a printer and you can email it to there. I will collect it from there.

>We spent the remainder of the class writing down our thought about Sherlock Holmes.

>The bell rang and it was time for our next class.

Fox: I’m afraid this is where we must part. I have Art Class next.

Joker: Archaeology for me.

Yugi Muto: It’s my first year here at Tokyo U. I know I said I would work at my grandpa’s game store and create games of my own, but I thought I’d still go to college to improve those skills. And you... I know you. You’re friends with Ryuji Sakamoto of KUROFUNE. I saw you perform at the talent part of Dream FES.

Joker: Yes. Ren Amamiya, at your service, Yugi san.

Yugi Muto: You know, you can just call me Yugi.

>We both head inside. Just like in the last class, there were more or less people here while cameras and monitors helping us connect to students from their homes. Keitaro Urashima comes in.

Keitaro Urashima: Hey, everyone. I’m Keitaro Urashima. But, you can call me Keitaro if it makes you feel comfortable. Welcome to Archaeology. Here, we will learn about the ancient world. Now, according to Seta’s notes, we’re to start with the basics of the basics. First off, a short history of archaeology. Archaeology was first introduced in the 16th century Europe. They say that it first began when Nabonidus, the last king of the Neo-Babylonian Empire, became interested in the past so he could align himself with past glories. However, an early investigation of the past could be traced back to Ancient Greece... You, the one with the glasses next to the odd-hair young man.

Keitaro: Do you know the name of the Ancient Greek historian who had an interest in investigating the past?

Keitaro: That’s right! You must have a real interest in this stuff, Amamiya kun. The Greek historian and scholar, Herodotus, was the first historian to collect his material systematically, test their accuracy, arranged them in a well-constructed narrative. Plato and his disciple, Socrates, were philosophers and Homer was an author who wrote the Odyssey. Herodotus was known as the “Father of History”.

Keitaro: Alright, alright, settle down now. By the way, Amamiya kun, who you all recognize from Dream FES’s Talent Show, isn’t the only celebrity here. We also have Hifumi Togo the Shogi champion, Yugi Muto the King of Games, and Rei Ryugazaki the top track runner and swimmer.

Rei Ryugazaki: I mostly do swimming these days.

>Did he really have to bring that up? Hifumi looks at me with contempt.

Yugi: Are you okay?

I’d rather not say.

Keitaro: Now, we will begin discussing about the earliest known archaeological digs.

>We spent the rest of the class learning about some of the early digs in archaeology.

>Beef Bowl Shop Ore no Beko. Normally, we would have lunch at our favorite diner, but they have closed due to it being too small to avoid infection and have switched to deliveries. This place, luckily, is still open, through they close early. Me, Fox, Skull, and Panther were discussing the classes we had. Skull was just in Math and Poetry and Panther had Acting and Science. Two others then come in. It was Yugi, Rei Ryugazaki, and a young man with thick blonde hair and an almost menacing face. I can only guess this is Katsuya Jonouchi... But for popular reasons and to make things more easier, we’ll call him by his western name: Joey Wheeler.

Yugi: Oh, Ren!

Joker: Hi, Yugi.

Panther: (confused) You know Yugi Muto and Rei Ryugazaki?

Yugi: We’re in Archaeology together.

Holy shit, you’ve even got Joey Wheeler here!

Ya seem surprised. Glad to meet a fan of mine.

Skull: Well, I mostly like Tea Gardner (Anzu Mazaki) since we’re both performers, but yer cool, Joey san.

Skull and Joey Wheeler: Ya better think twice before ya mess wit Joey Wheeler, da Godfada of Game!

Rei Ryugazaki: (irritated by that stunt) We thought we’d stop for lunch some. I guess you had the same idea.

Fox: We would normally go to the diner across the street, but due to the state of emergency, they can only deliver until they’re sure it is safe to reopen.

Skull: My mom said that they’ll reopen as soon as they make sure it’s safe. It’s always been one of our favorite hangouts.

Panther: I hope so. By the way, Ryuji, you’re mom’s a nurse, right? How are things with her?

Skull: Well, because of her job, she said I can’t stay in the apartment with her in case I get sick. Well, I was already movin’ out after graduation. I currently stayin’ with Akechi at his place ‘til I can find one of my own.

Rei Ryugazaki: Speaking of which, if you’re friends with the Detective Prince, isn’t he here?

Panther: He and our other friends have classes at the Hongo Campus. They’re having lunch elsewhere. But we’re suppose to meet up with them and our other friends from Shujin after classes.

Yugi: That’s good. I wish we could meet up with the others, too. But, they have their own paths to follow and we have to keep our distance.

>We all sat down and enjoyed our lunch.

Panther: That reminds me, if you’re here Rei san, does that mean the other members of your swim club is here?

REMINDER 2: We don’t know the exact timelines of most of the shows, cartoon, movies, video games, and anime. We’re just making it up as we go.

Rei: No. They are attending different colleges. I’m the only one who came to Tokyo University. Haru senpai’s at Hidaka University. Mako senpai’s at Meijo Chuo University here in Tokyo, I was hoping to visit him, but I can’t due to the lock down. Nagisa’s taking online courses because of the lock down as well. So is Gou.

Joker: Just have hope, Rei kun. You’ll see them again. I’m sure of it.

Rei: ... (smiling) You might be right. Thank you, Ren san.

Just promise the next time you guys so swimming, you’ll invite us.

>After we finished our lunch, we returned to the campus. My next class was Music with Skull. After that, my last class was Geography with Panther and Hifumi. Normally, college hours would last longer, but because of the state of emergency, classes end early each day

>Cafe Leblanc. Boss closed it early for us. We, including Wolf, talked about what happened today.

Sound like you guys had quite the day today. I can’t believe you actually eat lunch with the King of Games himself. I used to love to play Duel Monsters.

Same here. Me and Kasumi used to play together between recitals. Hey, Senpai, did you play Duel Monsters in the past?

Joker: I did. But I lost interest as I go older. But I might get back into it someday.

I have that feeling.

Queen: So, how was your day?

Oracle: Same as usual. Ms. Chouno was being saucy, Mr. Hiruta trying too hard to be charming... Mr. Ushimaru threw a piece of chalk at a student.

And you’ll never guess who it was and dodged it.

Joker: Who?

>The cafe door opens.

We’re closed.

??????: Aw c’mon, I thought this place was allowed to open again!

>We turn to see who was there.

(removing his surgical mask) Surprised? I guess you never saw this coming.

Queen: (indeed surprised) You three are in Shujin Academy now?

Yeah. We would have told you, but we didn’t think we would go this year because of the pandemic.

But, I managed to talk them into it.

Bruno: (whisper) And by that, he means he annoyed us into it.

Makoto: (who heard that) Hey, I resent that!

Bruno: Just telling it as it is.

Boss: I see. Well, I suppose I can make some more curry. Don’t forget to wash up, first.

>We got our curry and my phone rings. I answer to see Sophie.

Good evening, everyone! How are you?

Oracle: Hi, Sophie!

Adi: Oh, you must be the AI the others talked about.

Sophie: Yes, my name is Sophia. But you can call me Sophie. I’m humanity’s best friend.

Bruno: That’s nice to hear.

Wolf: She helped us that team with EMMA.

Adi: I heard.

Makoto: Thanks for taking care of that Iron Man Wannabe. Even Tony doesn’t like him. He says he gives billionaire geniuses like him a bad rep.

Skull: Tell Stark you’re welcome. I just wish you guys coulda been there.

Bruno: We will.

Joker: So, you managed to dodge Mr. Ushimaru’s chalk? He used to do the same with me.

Adi: I did. I guess all that training I did with Hawkeye really paid off.

Bruno: I was there. I saw it. Me and Adi are in the same class.

Makoto: (disappointed) I wish I could have seen it. How could I end up a first year?

Bruno: Because you’re biologically 15 and 15-year-olds start in first year in Japan.

Personally, you still act like a kid.

Makoto: (irritated) What was that?

Are you threatening your senpai?

Makoto: (scared) Sorry, ma’am.

Queen: That reminds me, is Chloe also a student at Shujin.

Bruno: No, she’s chose to study at home. She was originally going to go to Coles Academic High School with Kamala, but due to COVID-19, they had to change their plans.

Panther: Yeah, she told me just before we left Eternia.

Wolf: I wish I could have gone. Maybe next time.

Adi: We can only hope this pandemic ends. At school, the place was almost empty.

Bruno: I know. I was worried when I saw this. I know I won’t be infected since I’m half machine, but Adi and Makoto aren’t.

Violet: Same here. I learned they canceled gymnastics today because one of the students tested positive.

Queen: I’m sorry to hear that.

Violet: It’s okay, he just has a minor case and is expected to recover in a couple of weeks.

Noir: That’s good to hear.

Joker: How’s Chloe, by the way? Knowing that she can’t go with Kamala, she must be very unhappy.

Makoto: Yeah, she’s pretty bummed out.

Adi: Unless Mr. and Mrs. Khan say it’s alright, they can only see each other on video chat.

Noir: I see. That must be hard on both of them. I just wish there was something that we can do.

>Noir’s right. I think for a moment... I got it!

Adi: You do?

Joker: Before returning here, I got a message from Mishima. We just got a new request on the Phan-site. We may be leaving again soon.

Queen: Do we really have time for that? The school year just began.

Skull: I’m sure we’ll be back in time. Don’t worry.

Adi: I see. I guess I can ask her.

Makoto: Can the rest of us come, too?

Maybe next time. Right now, I think taking Lady Chloe with us might do her some good.

Bruno: I’m sure it will.

>The clock rings.

Joker: It’s nice to meet you. But what brings you here?

Margaret: We are here as Lavenza had said.

Yu?

Narukami san? And Ren Amamiya san? If you are here... Mitsuru san was right. You are the leader of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts.

Joker: Pretty much.

Margaret: We have gathered you here because of that request.

Joker: You know who sent it?

Theodore: Indeed we do.

>Theodore opens the Compendium and shows us.

Yu: (reading it) The Clockwork God?

Aigis: (also reading it) The Clockwork God is the embodiment of death and one half of the deity, Chronos. That does sound familiar.

Margaret: It is... And here is why.

>Margaret turns the page.

Yu: ... Zen...

Aigis: And Rei san... How do we know those names? Have we met them somewhere before?

Yu: We must have. They’re wearing the Yasogami High School uniform. But I can’t seem to place them anywhere.

Margaret: Because you met them in a different Yasogami High School. You met them within a haven in the rift, a floating island adrift in the sea of the unconscious. When you left, Zen and Rei went to a new existence and your memories of your time together was gone. However, we in the Velvet Room remembered because it was recorded in the Compendium. And it appears the time has come to restore those memories.

Yu: You can do that?

Margaret: I cannot... But she can.

>The cell door opens again.

I think this is where I come in.

I know you. You’re Naminė.

Naminė: I’m glad you know who I am, Ren Amamiya. I’m here to restore the memories that were lost. I know my powers are normally limited to those who are connected to Sora, but thanks to everyone in the Velvet Room, I can do it with everyone as well. And it will only take a second. It sort of makes me wish I had this kind of assistance sooner.

>Naminė closes her eyes. In a flash, many things cam flowing into my head. None of it involved this Zen or Rei... But something else.

Yu: I... I remember! We met Zen and Rei in a different version of Yasogami. Rei was dead and Zen was suppose to take her to the afterlife. They got trapped and we helped them.

Aigis: I remember as well.

Naminė: Your friends have remembered as well. You might need their help.

Joker: I remember something. It’s not about your friends...

Something about... movies.

Aigis: I also remember that.

Yu: Me, too... But I think we should save that for another time. Right now, it sounds like Zen san and Rei chan are in trouble again. What happened to them?

Margaret: After our adventure with them, they went to a part of the Sea of Souls known as the Soul Society... But the rest you will have to hear from Rei.

Lavenza: It is time you return to your world and enjoy whatever rest you have.

Aigis: (smiling) I do not have to worry. As a machine, I do not require sleep. But, I should return and tell the Mitsuru san what has happened.

Maraget: And one more thing I must tell you. Naminė has restored all of your friends’ memories. This is because you may need their assistance. However, to avoid the place you are going to from also being effected by the changes bought on by the virus that now covers your world, you can only take one member of your team with you.

Yu: That’s true, we don’t want this place to have the coronavirus. Well, if I am going to have to take only one member of the Investigation Team, of course I’m going to choose Yosuke. He’s my partner. Always and forever.

Aigis: I do not wish the same thing, either. So, I suppose I shall bring Labrys, my sister. Since we are both machines and neither of us can get the virus, it should be fine.

Joker: I would like to bring someone, as well.

Theodore: Then it is settled.

Lavenza: The time as come.

>Everything went dark.

Now I bet you’re wondering where I was in all of this. Well, my parents insisted I take classes online to keep me from catching COVID-19 and stay safe. But, it’s not so bad. Think of it this way: This just means I can work on the Phan-site a little more...

So much for my Phantom Thieves documentary. It’ll have to wait.

But don’t worry. I'm not done yet. I hope you all still support the Phantom Thieves in all of this. I know I will. And as the admin of this site, you have my word.

Hi! I was wondering if everything is alright? Caged is one of my favorite ML stories and you haven’t updated for a while, and I’m concerned for you. I hope you’re alright! And take your time, I mean no pressure to update, I’m just really concerned for you.

Hello! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed Caged so much. Thank you for worrying, that’s very sweet.

I’m gonna be very honest here: I’m okay...ish. I like to be straight with my followers, so I think I should take this opportunity to tell you guys of what’s been going on, and why it seems that I’ve barely written anything in the last few months.

This last year was very much an emotional roller coaster for me. I quit my job, moved far from my family, got a new job, quit it three months later due to severe anxiety and depression, and recently moved back close to my family. Currently, I’ve been looking for a new job, with no luck.

This whole set of events have affected the way I perceive my writing (especially because the last job I quit was gonna fire me anyway, and it was a job in journalism, in which I have a degree in), and it’s been hard to get my mojo back. On top of that, I’ve been placing a lot of my writing energy in other projects (a secret santa, an Alya zine, a Marichat zine, a Kingdom Hearts zine, random one-shots, prompts, commissions, secret collaborations, and my original novel). All the while struggling with it all. I was so lost that I accidentally edited the last chapter I posted of Infection, thinking I hadn’t posted it. Then I was upset with myself for posting it how I did, feeling like I published garbage.

Additionally, I guess how the show has been going lately I haven’t been very motivated to write these characters in a relationship. I know the version of Adrien I have in Caged and other projects is not the one who ignored Ladybug’s fist-bump in Oni-chan (since all those projects were with earlier versions of Adrien on the show), but I’ve honestly been very turned off by his characterization lately. That only makes my writing struggle worse for Miraculous fanfiction.

And lastly, I guess I was starting to feel discarded. Ever since Tumblr changed its policies, I know there has been a major decrease in traffic in the site. What’s worse, it’s that anyone who places links in our posts doesn’t show up in the search, even with tags, making getting commissions almost impossible. But even so, I know I have followers. Yet... Last time I opened commissions, I only got three requests (one of them from a close friend of mine), which was very discouraging when I see people ask artists if they’re open for commissions all the time. I know people prefer art over stories, but it’s still upsetting. Even more so, when I see that I have over 800 followers and constant anonymous requests for prompts, but when it comes to commissions, only two or three are actually willing to support me (not counting my friends who are as broke as me and can’t help). It makes me feel like people are only willing to read my stories if they’re for free, and even then, I don’t get many reblogs.

Even with all this, it doesn’t mean I’ve abandoned my stories. I have every intention of finishing them, especially Caged, since it was the first fanfic I wrote for this amazing fandom. But it’s hard. Even harder when I only have about five chapters left, and I keep worrying about the quality of my writing.

So...yeah. I’m okay-ish. I’m trying my best to keep positive and remind myself that a lot of these thoughts are in my head. I also know this isn’t my followers fault. A big piece of it is Tumblr’s fault, for being a shitty website. But then again, I rebloged that I was doing commissions almost daily, and barely got a response. And my car is still sitting there, needing repairs. Again, hard getting my head straight.

I’m sorry if all this sounds ranty. I normally don’t like to put my problems out there, but I don’t want you guys to feel like I’ve abandoned you. I’ve just been going through a lot. Still going through stuff, but trying my best to get better.

best. final exam. ever. (a blog detailing the scavenger hunt final exam for Paris 2019)

Today we did our final exam for this May Term, and I have to say: BEST. EXAM. EVER. Exploring new places in Paris? Yes please! We were given some expectations and then a list of sites to visit with a partner, and then left to figure out which route we would like to go! I’m glad I like directions and navigating because today was a whole lot of that.

(Note: I posted the pictures with the locations tagged on my Instagram, @kyliegtravels, if you would like to see exact locations. They are all under my “final exam” highlight.)

The following is the expectations/rules we were given this morning (bright and early at 8am) for the day.

Objective:

Demonstrate proficiency in Pairs by:

1. Ability to successfully navigate mass transit. You must use the metro and/or the buses to get around. NO UBER.NO TAXI.

2. Referencing only your Paris Pratique and Michelin Guide for directions—not cell phones. Should it be revealed that you used your cell phone for navigational purposes, you and your partner will receive an automatic failing grade on the exam.

3. Find historically/culturally significant locations per the list provided, and experience them.

4. Do so in an efficient way (within the 6 hour limit).

5. We encourage you to take a break for lunch, snacks, etc.

Mechanics:

· 8 am start time from the Citadines Place d’Italie

· You may NOT use computers and phones to plan the best route. Your sites are not listed in any geographical “order.”

· 2pm arrival (not earlier) at the professors’ apartment: rue Watteau

o Please bring your laptops and your Michelin Green Guide to rue Watteau. (Pick these at the Citadines before arriving at rue Watteau)

· YOU MUST VISIT EACH SITE WITH YOUR PARTNER

· Each group must take a photo at each site, and slow down a bit, and think about the space.

· Back at the professors’ apartment (or if you finish early, please feel free to begin working), make Tumblr posts documenting your groups journey—including each site visited.

o Divide the blog posts between partners/group members.

o If you reference a source, please be sure to include the citation. Your Michelin Guide is a great reference.

After reviewing these expectations, we were given our partners and the list of our sites.

Group 1: Rousseau (Emily and Kylie)

9. Temple of Sibyl, Parc des Buttes Chaumont (19e)

Emily and I went to work to figure out what the best way to find each of these places would be. We used our Michelin Green Guides and our Paris Pratique to craft our path. The following is the path we followed to complete our final exam. We started out by taking line 7 (La Courneve) to Place Monge to our first site.

Arenes de Lutece:

We decided to go here first because it was the closest to our hotel, and we had seen signs for it in the line 7 Metro. It was pretty easy to find when we came up out of the metro because there were signs for it, so I expected more people to be there. We were the only people there. I’m not sure if that’s because we were there at 8:15am. The Arenes De Lutece and is located in the Latin Quarter. It is an amphitheater and could originally hold 15,000 people. It is one of the only surviving evidence of the Roman period in Paris. It was interesting to see that apartment buildings have been built over part of the amphitheater. We enjoyed appreciating the calm arena before we set off on the rest of our day. We decided earlier to walk to the next site because it was in the same arrondisement and it didn’t make sense to take a Metro.

St-Etienne-du-Mont Church and Place Sainte Genevieve:

We walked down some winding streets, which is the character of the Latin Quarter to find St-Etienne-du-Mont Church. I’m not going to lie, this was pretty easy to find because it is so distinguishable. It was cool to see the Pantheon next to it too. In fact, in 1744 King Louis XV replaced the Saint Genevieve Abbey with the Pantheon. The abbey was looted and burned in the Revolution. It was attached to what is now called St-Etienne-du-Mont Church. This is why the place near the church is called the Place Sainte Genevieve. I had never heard of this church before and] the façade of it is quite grandiose, Renaissance style. It was restored after the revolution and actually slants left due to the shape of the ground. According to the churches website, it is a product of a transition period between gothic and Renaissance styles. I think this is for sure true because of what we have learned about the two styles in class. Another interesting thing about this area is that the original wall fortification is still present in some areas and we just happened to walk by, how cool! We then continued our walk to the Cardinal Lemoine station and took line 10 (Gare d’Austerlitz) to Gare d’Austerlitz and transferred to line 5 (Bobigny), exiting at Bastille.

After exploring Place de Vosges, we walked to the Chemin Vert Station and took line 8 (Balard) to Republique and transferred to line 3 (Galleieni) and got off at Porte de Bagnolet.

Place Edith Piaf:

I was surprised because we popped out of the underground Metro station into a market and the statue of Edith Piaf was on our right. Emily has the entry for this site too! We enjoyed a walk through the market before embarking to our next site, which was the one we knew the least about. We went to the Gambetta station and took line 3 (Levallois) to Pere Lachaise, then transferred to line 2 (Porte Dauphine) and got off at Belleville.

Temple of Sibyl, Parc des Buttes Chaumont:

We found the Parc des Buttes Chaumont easily In our Paris Pratique, but the Temple of Sibyl wasn’t labeled so we ended up looking it up in our Michelin guide while on the Metro and finding a map of the entire Parc. It was quite a hike to find this site (which makes sense because the 19this near Montmatre) and it was definitely not a tourist area so it wasn’t labeled from the streets. I think this may have been my favorite site we visited. In 1860, Napoleon III integrated the areas surrounding the park into the city, creating a need to make these areas “Parisian.” Haussmann played a role in the installation of this park, a large English-style park, along with the Bois de Boulogne and the Bois de Vincenne. Adolphe Alphand created this park by buying 25 hectagres of the Buttes Chaumont. Originally this had been quarries, but they were abandoned in the mid 1800s. It was a three year process to form the park from construction of artificial cliffs (the one in the lake where the temple is located is the most prominent) to digging trails both steep and flat to planting new species. The lake was created by using a local water tank. The park was inaugurated with the Universal Exhibition of 1867, when Napoleon III wanted to show off his newly Haussmannized capital. I would love to go back and explore this park when I have more time because it looked like there was lots of trails and different paths to explore. Emily has a little more about the Temple of Sibyl on her blog if you would like to read more about that. We hopped on the 7b (Pre-St.-Gervais) and got off at Place des Fetes, then got on line 11 (Chatlet) to Arts et Metiers, and then line 3 (Levallois) to Bourse.

Galerie Vivienne:

I knew from our assignment sheet that this was a covered passage, but as we stepped into it, it was much more extravagant than I expected. It felt like I was in a department store because the ornamentation of the ceiling or the glass roof and the detailed floor felt too special to just be a street passage. It was built in 1823 and now houses a cute bookstore, boutiques of various kinds, food shops, and probably more that we didn’t see because the spectacle of the passage itself was so beautiful. We walked through it and on to Rue Etienne Marcel to find our next site.

Rue Jean-Jacques-Rousseau:

This is the street our group was named after! Check our Emily’s blog to understand it’s importance. We walked from here to the nearby Etienne Marcel Metro stop. We got on line 4 (Cligancourt) to Strasbourg-St. Denis and transferred to line 8 (Balard) for the Madeleine stop.

On the steps of the La Madeleine, Place de la Madeleine:

You would think finding the front of the church would be easy, but it turns out we got turned around. We got out of the Metro and went towards the back of the church, and got super confused because it was locked. Not to mention, it was under construction, so that might also have added to the confusion of where the front was and it also doesn’t look like other churches in Paris, so we were a little shocked by that. Don’t worry though, we wandered around the place and found the front steps of the church. After looking into this place later, it is now well known for the little cookie/cakes that Marcel Proust made famous, but there is a deep history of the church. The church is situated between Place de la Concorde and the Palais Garnier. It is different than a religious building because Napoleon wanted it to be a pantheon to honor his armies. The iconic Corinthian colomns were under construction, but we still got to see some of them. We also saw many signs for concerts, which the church hosts regularly. From here we walked to our last location. We followed Rue Torchet towards Printemps and then Rue de Havre straight to the station.

Gare St. Lazare:

Emily wrote about this site too, but I want to mention how modernized this building was. I expected it to be more like what Monet painted, yet instead, it felt more like a mall. We had a hard time getting a picture inside of ourselves without it looking like a mall, so we took a few pictures inside and headed outside to get our selfie with the iconic sign.

Whew! That was a lot! We started at 8am and got done early (noon) before we had to be at our professors’ apartment at 2pm. Since we had time, we decided to pull up Dr. Janes’ food recommendations list and found Cosi, a sandwich shop in the 6th. It was fun to celebrate completing our exam with some delicious sandwiches. Then, we went to our professors’ apartment for a delicious spread and to work on our blog posts. I want to go back to so many of these places because we were on such a timed schedule today! I look forward to revisiting these places someday and knowing the history of them because I took an exam by finding them. This class was such a cool experience I never imagined myself doing after finishing my first year of college, but I’m so glad I did. My professors are absolutely amazing and I’m so grateful for them. They’ve given us such great guidance and tours at places around the city, but also the independence to wander and explore. I will never forget this trip and it was such a fun way to wrap it up with a whirlwind scavenger hunt of such a beautiful city.

My 2018 in Review (Long Post Incoming!)

I know everyone’s been making new years posts, and that I’m late, but I’ve been thinking about what I’d say for this post for months, so…

Once again, VERY long post incoming! (I put a “keep reading” bar, but it doesn’t always show up on my posts…) Also...please forgive any typos...I’m writing this at midnight.

I don't know if anyone will be interested in this, or read the whole thing...but here goes.

To begin:

Last year, during December ,I wrote my Pandora Hearts fic “The Things We Say Aloud.” During the fic, it’s been raining all month, and it finally snows on Christmas Eve. I lived in Seattle, where it does snow, but white christmases are rare. Last year, after writing that fic, it snowed at my house on christmas eve. It felt like a christmas gift that my fic came true in my own life.

But there was this little voice in the back of my head that said “What if this is your gift for your last year in Seattle?”

My response was “What the heck?! Why would you even think that?! Why would we leave Seattle?!"

When this year started, I was doing just fine. I was starting my (*cough cough* second...) gap year, happy in my house in Seattle, writing, and soon I started cat sitting, which was kind of the perfect job for me.

But things were stagnant, I wasn’t really sure what the year would hold, or if I was doing what I was meant to do—or simply what I was meant to do in general. I wasn’t making much progress in my original novel, and I wondered what I was supposed to be doing, if I was making the right choice in still not going to college. (A lot like the feeling Thomas Sanders described in “Learning New Things About Ourselves”)

By far the highlight of my year is that I got to go to a bunch of conventions (which, while I always wanted to do before, I never did for some reason), and meet my three most favorite celebrities in the entire world: David Tennant, Tom Hiddleston, and Jacksepticeye. (I got to briefly meet Summer Glau, Sean Maher, and Tom Holland as well, which was also AWESOME, but I didn’t actually get to talk to them...). I’m not going to go into a ton of detail about that right now, (but I would love to make a post about my experiences meeting them, and/or going to cons in general, but I fear it’ll sound like bragging…so let me know if any of you are interested!), but that was absolutely AMAZING.

I couldn’t believe that I met even one of them, and the fact that I met all three of them, in the span of a single year is…beyond mind-blowing. I feel so incredibly lucky. I never thought I could possibly meet David Tennant in my life, and had already bought my ticket to Emerald City Comic Con ahead of time, so when his name came up on the roster of Emerald City Comic Con…I think I may have screamed. After meeting him my mom said, “the only thing that could make this year better would be meeting Tom Hiddleston, am I right?” And I smiled and shrugged as if to say “yeah, but that’s never gonna happen.” Then….somehow….it did. And, if that wasn’t enough, I had been watching Jack going on tour, and desperately wanted him to come to Seattle, (and didn’t realize the plan for the different legs). Then he said he was coming to Seattle!! I had barely heard of PAX, so when I learned that not only was he coming to Seattle, but I might have the chance to meet him before the tour, I had to go for it. I was only able to get Friday tickets, and it was a complete gamble as to which day he would be autographing. And once again…it somehow happened.

After those experiences, the sheer luck of all three of them coming to Seattle in the same year, I was once again greeted with the idea that “Maybe this is Seattle’s way of saying goodbye to you.” And once again my immediate thought was “What the heck?!”

Now, I had heard of tumblr for many years before now. I’ve never been big on social media, but when I got a pinterest, I would see all the funny tumblr posts secondhand there. They always made me laugh out loud, but tumblr also always seemed like this… vulgar place. I had heard terrible stories from my real-life friends who were on tumblr about how unkindly they were treated here. I’m a very sensitive person, so after hearing all that I decided that joining tumblr was out of the question.

Still, as the years went by, and I learned more about it…it was one of the few social media sites that interested me. It seemed much more fandom-centric than anything else, and I was really interested in it. But also sad about how I didn't think i would be treated well here.

Back to meeting Jack; had become a fan of Jack fairly recently, and didn’t have any memorabilia from him for him to sign at PAX. So when I found out that the day I was going WAS his autographing session, (after containing my joy) I had to scramble to find something for him to sign.

That’s how I met @jacksoopticboop. I went on etsy and found an art piece that made me cry the first time I looked at it. I had to get it. To have him sign it—(don’t worry Boop, I still plan on sending you a copy of the signed version…I’m so sorry it’s been taking me so long!!) I contacted her to make sure it would reach me in time and from then…we hit it off. We kept on talking through etsy, and email. Boop was the first person to tell me that she had NEVER received negativity on tumblr—at least, not the kind I was worried about. That, plus wanting to talk to her more, and already having been thinking joining tumblr for a while, I decided to finally take the plunge and join at the beginning of October this year.

When Boop was convincing me to join, she said that if I made a post saying I was new to the JSE community, she could guarantee I would get a positive response. And I honestly thought “That’s great but…can you really guarantee that??”

She could. I smiled more that first day on tumblr, when I made that post, and got lovely messages, than I had in a very long time.

However, as this was going on, it so happened that October was also when my dad found a new job…in Dallas Texas.

I won’t go into the details of the move as a whole, but we decided to take a motorhome trip down to Texas…which may well have been the worst decision of our lives.

Part of the reason we decided to do that was so we could make a bunch of fun stops on the way—brighten our stressful time.

1) ALL those stops were wiped out, because of timing, and fires in California.

2) We got in a car accident the day before thanksgiving.

3) The exact moment we arrived at our temporary housing, certain events led to my cat—my one hope, my best friend—dying.

I was completely lost. Still am, for the most part.

But I had you guys.

I firmly believe that my joining tumblr at the exact same time the move came was part of a plan from a higher source.

My friends were all at college, so I didn’t get to see them often anyways in my first gap year. But i knew that feeling alone was weighing on me, and if I didn’t have you during the move, as I am truly leaving everything I know behind…I honestly wonder if I would have made it. Those first few nights in Texas, after Granita’s (my cat) death….I honestly didn’t feel like life was worth living.

But I wasn’t alone. I could still talk to all of you.

When I first got into Jack’s videos was actually when I watched him play Getting Over It. I had already watched him play Undertale, and enjoyed it greatly, but I didn’t get into his channel just yet. I watched Dan and Phil play Getting Over It, and for some reason was interested in watching more, since they didn’t get far. I watched Mark throw a chair in rage….Then I watched Jack play it and…he was so different from everyone else. He smiled and laughed—and he made me laugh too. It can be somewhat difficult to get me to laugh out loud at things, but I knew his videos would continue to make me laugh, so I didn’t stop there, and I’m SO glad I didn’t.

Recently, in a “What is My Life?” style, my life has felt a lot like Getting Over It. But you guys have felt like Jack’s commentary in my life; you have given me reason to continue to laugh and smile, despite how much of a struggle the simplest things have become for me.

When I found out about the @jsecardexchange for December, I was so happy. I knew I desperately needed a little extra joy in a christmas where I wouldn’t get to see my grandparents, or snow, and I wish I could thank each and every one of you personally for your cards on here, but that would fill up the post…but please know that your cards saved me from so much sorrow.

I am so grateful to everyone in the JSE Community, you’ve become a family to me that I can turn to when I’m sad.

I’m so glad that the PMA movement started this year, because I needed it this year more than ever. And you guys have embodied the movement for me in my everyday life. That first post I made when you all welcomed me was the start of something wonderful. So all I can say, is thank you.

Now, so far I’ve only talked about the JSE community…I haven’t forgotten about my friends from other communities!!

First of all, my real life friend @opheliaeee!! We’ve been through so much together. You’re one of the few people from high school i continue to talk to on a regular basis, and I’m so grateful. It’s been so helpful to be able to talk to someone who’s going through similar things that I am, and reading your writing continues to be such a delight!!

Tangled has always been one of my all-time favorite disney movies. It was the kind of movie I never got tired of, and watched when I was sad (…speaking of, I should watch it again, it’s been a while…) I didn’t expect the series to be that good…then when it was…there was no going back.

I saw @kaede02mangaka ’s art all the time on pinterest, and loved it, but the fact that on here I could see your art right as it was posted, and not only talk to you, but have you tag me in your own posts, (like your new years one), just makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. On pinterest I could never hear from artist’s directly, or tell them how much I loved their art. You’re one of my favorites!! <3

While I’ve always written fanfiction, I was too scared of the internet’s negativity to post. This, and the fact I’m a bit of a stickler for canon, also meant that I didn’t really read fanfiction. But my friend @ophelieaeee convinced me to start posting at last…which also meant that I started reading. I looked up Tangled and one of the top fics that came up was one that had more kudos, comments, and hits than I had ever seen…this was, of course, @izadreamer ‘s Labyrinths of the Heart. Having just started out on Ao3, I couldn’t believe how someone could get so much publicity. I was skeptical a fic could be that good. Then I started reading…my jaw was on the floor. The characterization was perfect. The writing was phenomenal—so much so there were quotes that both stuck with me, and made me cry, in a way that happens with only the best of novels. I still have to catch up, and I’m sure there’s more amazingness to come, but whenever I think about the ending of chapter 5, I kind of have to sit there for a moment in silent reverence and be like…."that was one of the best things I’ve ever read in my life, let alone in just fanfiction.” Needless to say, I’m glad I found you. And reading your fics, and seeing that you were on tumblr certainly helped me to join tumblr too, and gave me positivity!!

I am in a lot of fandoms, and I had to make sure I found blogs from all my favorite fandoms. Which meant that finding good Loki blog was important. It was surprisingly difficult for me to find a Loki blog that had what I wanted. (While I love Tom and Loki, most of the blogs I found were simply pictures of them, and I wasn’t super satisfied with that). But I came across one that was focused on theories an mythologies that I was deeply intrigued by…and it was @mylokabrennauniverse‘s. I forget what exactly got us directly talking, but I’ll never forget how on one of the nights I was in the motorhome crying, I got a mention from you…that you had given me a virtual hug. It’s such a small, almost silly thing, but I needed it so much. I was amazed that from the first moment of saying something to you, you were then willing to send me such positivity. If you told me by simply talking to you, I’d be able to join a Loki theory blog with you, and discuss in-depth theories with you and everyone there, I’m not sure I would have believed you, but I’m so glad that’s what happened. <3

And last, but certainly not least, Pandora Hearts.

It was a few years ago when I saw a little post about on pinterest about a show called Pandora Hearts, and decided to watch the anime. From then my life has never been the same. This was one of the first mangas I ever read, and some of the best memories of my life are from the first time I read it. I fell in love with the story, almost every single one of characters, but especially a man named Xerxes Break, whose struggles helped me understand and make it through my own.

But I had no one to talk to about the series.

And when I say no one, I mean no one.

I forced my friends to watch it, but even now, I still haven’t gotten them to finish the anime, or read it.

@xerxesbreakisbadass I’m sure you can attest to just how desperate I was to talk to someone when I first joined tumblr XD I’ll be forever grateful that you were willing to be my friend, and talk to me about the series!!

@maddyisenough I’m so grateful that you contacted me a few months ago, and organized the phmonth18 and phsecretsanta events! I’ve written more in a single month because of these events than I have in a long time, and it helped me so much!! Feeling productive and creating things I’m proud of kept me from my sadness. Not just that, I have so enjoyed our conversations in general, reading each others fics, and coming up with fic ideas together!!! Here’s to a year filled with more fics and friendship!!

@doodlesrune I love how you’re in so many of the same fandoms as me, and I enjoy talking with you—we should talk more!!

And no series do I currently do that more than my favorite: PH. As I said, I spent years with no one to talk to. I didn’t realize how much that weighed on me until joining tumblr. But even with fellow fans, finding someone who’s willing to have lengthly conversations about the series is difficult. Our conversations have been like a breath of fresh air for me; letting me talk as much, and as in-depth as I want, without fearing that my long responses are a burden to the other person, and receiving equally long and in-depth responses that make me think even MORE deeply about the series!!! Not only that, but, as I’m sure you know, getting people to read and comment on your fics is difficult. I’ve been so grateful for everyone who’s been willing to do that. But you have been reading my fics right as I post, and giving me nice lengthly comments that I cherish and look forward to so much!! So, once again, all I can say is thank you.

Thank you. Each and every one of you has brightened my life in some way, in one of the lowest points of my entire life. I cannot thank you enough. I am so beyond grateful that i joined tumblr, and met all you lovely people. It’s been the opposite of everything i thought it would be all those years ago.

So this me saying farewell to a 2018 that was both one of the best years of my life, and the worst, and a welcome to 2019. Here’s hoping that it holds more of the better half!!

Friendship is Magic Airing it's Final Season!

So, The Ninth Season of Friendship is Magic has begun. I've been well aware that this is the final season of the show for a few years now and I want to give my personal thought about the show and how I ended up making the largest fanart content I've done as a 3D artist. I learn about the show while it was in the middle of it's second season. Before that I find several contents of fan animation and so-on on YouTube. While I find it interesting to see that this show was getting a lot of attention back then. It didn't really caught my interest until I found out that one of my favorite Cartoonist, Lauren Faust, :iconFyre-Flye: had a huge part in making the characters and directed the first season of the show. I decided to look at both of the seasons and find myself really liking the show. It was far different from it's previous generations because I don't see a generic, forgettable, multi-colored, talking horses, I see the character themselves. These ponies had a personality, flaws, and the show itself has a story line and also memorable background characters. As I continue to watch the show I come to find how much I admire the show and the characters themselves and I just step in to a sub-culture revolution as well. In spite being the a Saturday morning cartoon show aimed to young girls, the personality of the characters and the well crafted writing was able to draw me in and anybody that has interest in animation like me. I found that this show deserves the fans they were getting and I wanted to be part of that group as well. After watching the two season of FiM, I've desperately wanted to make a fanart to the show myself. In February 9th 2012, I created and posted my first Equestrian Model Fluttershy. My initial intention was to make the fanart of The Main Six, The Princesses, and a few of the background characters, but as soon as I find out that someone rigged a Pony based model in a free 3d site. I decided to make some more of these characters as much as I can. From then on in I've been continuing make more MLP content with the the pony model alongside their Human/Equestrian counterparts. I also able to get a few new items from the Source Film Maker models but I lack the ability to decompress and convert the model at the time. That when I taught myself 3DCoat, a 3d sculpting program where I can make the mane and tail from scratch rather depending on a third party developer to do it. While I was still new in sculpting 3d objects, I eventually ended up creating my own Pony OC Maya Doi with it. I've also self taught how to use Manga Studio (I guess it's called Clip Studio Print now) to create my own webcomics for Tumblr as well. While I didn't take the webcomic all that serious at first, it later started to breathe a life of it's own when I started to flesh out the character's motives and the universe surrounding them. Because of this methods, there's been a lot of backstories by the time I made the remakes. The more I wanted work on make my version of the MLP Characters the more obstacles I ended up founding that I wanted to solve so I can pull out now and more interested content. Before I knew it, my work has evolve tremendously despite the fact I was already at the peak of retirement this format altogether. I eventually switch my primary 3d format in favor of more content and realism on my work. Daz Studio has helped unlock the potential I was lacking in Poser after nine years of using the program and help me make the most breathtaking work that I always want to make. All of this because of my oppression to a children cartoon show. This is why to this day I'm still making the MLP content now. I never could of imagine how much the show like this influence me so much, but the internet is such a fascinating place to be. You can find groups of people who is just like you, who has the same interest as you, and it doesn't matter what your age, race, gender, etc. we somehow come together and be a part of something like this no matter what other people say about us. The work I've done here is the real me. I'm proud to make this type of work because I know I put everything including my heart to make the best work I can for my audience, and I'm happy I can meet such wonderful people who support my work. I have no regrets of becoming a Brony. If I haven't learn about this show I don't think I'll ever become the artist I am now. I've gain some much and learn new abilities that's only going to help me in the future. That being said while I'm still going create and recreate Characters from the FiM series, at least until my Lunar Eclipse Saga is over, I decided that I won't be going further with the G5 series. I glad the show lasted as long as it did and I wish I could of travel to see that very people who love it as much as I did, but I know that things like this doesn't last forever and well be moving to something new and exiting, but I will never forget the little kids show that Inspired me to continue improving on my art. how do you feel about younger people in fandom? like the youngest side that are probably on tumblr i.e 13/14ish?

i don’t know if you mean in the x-files fandom, or just younger people getting involved into fandom stuff online nowadays so i’m just going to go with a generalization.

i’m nobody’s mother and interests are healthy, and honestly i’m 23 so i don’t know anything about anything yet, but i will say that i live with a 15 y/o girl, a 13 y/o girl, and an 11 y/o girl, and i find myself very sad when all they want to do is go on a phone and watch youtube videos and be online instead of doing something more creative or intellectual.

we had a birthday party for 11 last night, and we had to take phones away from like six 10-11 year olds, which is ridiculous. i do understand that we live in a big city (paris, which isn’t exactly the safest) and lots of kids do things independently (walk to school, walk to friends’ houses, take the métro) so sometimes i worry about 11 (who doesn’t have a phone) if she needs to take the métro alone or walk somewhere alone, and i wish she did have some way to reach me if ever she got lost or something, but 11 is so young.

i think in a world that’s become so increasingly digitized and almost making it necessary to be connected in some way, kids are growing up faster, and some of the posts online and on tumblr talk about things they might not understand yet, and cause them to form opinions based on a text post some 18 y/o wrote. i’m even guilty of this. i’ll get too lazy to keep up with the real world and get my politics from tumblr sometimes, and that’s probably not good, even though mainstream news sources can do the same thing. my mom worked for the washington post, and that’s pretty much the only place i get my news from.

i probably got my first tumblr account when i was 15, and honestly i regret it. i was a pretty sheltered kid/teenager who really enjoyed reading, doing art, writing, and watching sad european dramas about dead sovereigns and suffering artists. i somehow discovered pro-ana blogs (blogs that share and encourage eating disorders to the point where healthy people can begin to actively attempt to follow insane tips in order to lose weight), and since i actually had been having trouble with my own eating habits but never really known that those behaviors were bizarre, i self-diagnosed and was part of that “community” for awhile.

i was interested/ in love with lots of actors and actresses, and as i made it out of kind of the pro-ana area which i realized which was unhealthy lol i found out about stan culture and just real obsession with movie stars/celebrities. when i was a younger teen i was “obsessed” with meryl streep, which at that time meant that i watched all her films repeatedly. i didn’t realize people cared about the actors/actresses’ personal lives until i got on tumblr, and at the time it was really exciting to discover things about my favorite celebrities (i mean, being a fan of someone obviously isn’t new, but it was to me). now that i’m 23 i find it very invasive and somewhat creepy that we’re so interested in someone’s life, sometimes even more than their body of work. we’ll probably never meet that person, and if we do they’re not going to think about you or remember you forever, because there are thousands of other people out there who feel the same way, and they just can’t keep track (at least the huge stars).

on the flip side, i think it’s good to have role models and people to look up to, but sometimes there’s a thin line there. i’m blonde, but i dyed my hair brown in my first year of high school because i was obsessed with marion cotillard and wanted to look like her. i kept the brown throughout high school because i liked it, and sort of forgot i ever did it because of her, but now i’m blonde again and it looks so much better haha. ALSO i got really interested in france/speaking french because of her (and juliette binoche), although i had a fantastic and enthusiastic french teacher in high school to help fuel my desire to speak french. and now i’m fluent in french and live in france. wow. so, if there are people you look up to in the public eye and they’re influencing you in positive ways, that’s great! i do get suspicious when very influential celebrities share their political views, though. i think we have a tendency to follow in people’s footsteps either subconsciously or in full awareness. that could be in any field. i like certain authors, and sometimes my own writing is heavily influenced by their work. it’s a natural thing that happens. but voting really should be an informed decision...just my opinion.

let’s talk about “just my opinion”. online bullying is real and can sometimes be rampant if there are dividing views on someone and their perceived private life. for example, in the x-files fandom we will, for the most part, absolutely convince you that mulder and scully are fucking like bunnies, when the show’s own creator won’t lol. but there are also people who think that gillian anderson and david duchovny (the leads) were/are/could be at some point in a romantic relationship with each other. they (anderson and duchovny) even cater to the fans a bit, but at the end of the day that’s their business and they don’t owe us an explanation, and a lot of people in fandom sort of act like they do. the point of this example was that because people in fandom are divided about this point of view, if you talk about one side or the other, there are some people who will come at you and say mean things for not agreeing with you, and try to convince you of a truth they have no real authority to speak about. this is obviously just an example, but online bullying is rampant and is often taken personally and can really affect the person being bullied, especially someone younger who may or may not be already facing that in real life at school lol.

i think tumblr is a good place for people who suffer from mental illness to come together in a healthy way to talk through their problems (god i hope i’m telling the truth), and there’s definitely tons of awareness and support that you’ll get on tumblr that you may not find in the real world. for example, i don’t know anyone irl who has epilepsy who i can talk to about mine. on tumblr i’ve talked with people who understand what i’m going through. i think that self diagnosis online, just as much on tumblr as it is when i cough and search “signs of throat cancer or tuberculosis’, read up on web md, and immediately fear my days might be numbered, is a problem. on tumblr i think we’re introduced to concepts and can sometimes treat mental illness lightly, when it shouldn’t. if you’re suffering from a mental illness, the online world isn’t going to be the place that can completely help you (says the girl who refuses to go to therapy and instead complains online about how she’s not getting any better).

being online immediately takes us out of life and into a different world. we become observers instead of experiencing the world. there’s good stuff about observation, but being online and attached to a website that is more or less just a vice for people will often make us choose to be on our phones instead of doing stuff in real life.

all of these points being said, i’m guilty of a lot of the “bad/unhealthy” facets of tumblr, but as i’ve “grown up” (unfortunately still staying on tumblr for a good portion of that time) i’ve grown out of a lot of these things and can see the good and the bad that the online world has to offer, and know which parts to stay away from. i can recognize that spending too much time on here does nothing for my desire to stay inside and not experience the real world. it also makes me think a lot more about tv shows/films/celebrities than i need to. but i’ve also made great friends from being on tumblr over the years, and gotten support i definitely wouldn’t have gotten in real life.

back to my real life. do i encourage the girls i live with to be interested in certain media? yes, especially stuff i feel has a good message. i basically sat the two older ones down and showed them the pilot of the x-files. do they experience the same high level obsession i do with tv shows/movies? no. and i’m glad for that. they like to lose themselves in certain tv shows, but when the tv is off they don’t really talk about it. do i introduce them to things i’m interested in media-wise? yes. do i introduce them to books and music i was/am interested in? yes. have i told them about tumblr? no. they don’t have any access to my online “presence” (they don’t know my instagram, twitter, etc), and i don’t talk about it. when my computer is out and they’re in the room doing homework, i’m usually writing. granted, that’s usually fanfiction, but at least i’m writing something.

one of the boys i tutor is writing a book (he’s 11) which is basically a self insert that takes place in the harry potter universe. he doesn’t know what fanfiction is, and i haven’t told him (although he’d never type it up and put it online lol he barely knows how to turn the computer on), but i’m so thrilled he’s even writing that i make him sit down and write for 10 minutes before we ever start watching a movie (in english).

ANYWAY. i’m nobody’s mother and at the end of the day i’m posting this online on my stupid blog where nothing i say matters or has any influence anywhere, but i think kids should be able to enjoy a non-internet related childhood as long as possible. some of us on tumblr are old enough to actually have children that age, and as much as we like having an account on this site, if asked this same question we might not as readily say ‘yeah it’s great! i want my teenagers to have the same experience as me!’

my electric forest experience

I say this about a lot of music festivals, but Electric Forest has to be my favorite one so far. It was also one of the most tiring festivals, seeing that it is five days long while camping, but worth every second!

Although I am an EDM fanatic, I do enjoy other genres as well. I had always dreamt about going to this specific festival because it is so diverse. EF was two weekends this year and I made a last minute decision in May that I was just going to go for it! As I was planning on buying two tickets on my own for the second weekend, a good festival friend, Mariana, contacted me. She mentioned that in past festivals she has gone in as media and gotten the chance to interview some of her favorite artists. This year she happened to have an extra media pass and wanted to see if I could help with some interviews and tag along on this journey. It was meant to be! I purchased a ticket for my boyfriend, who I drag to every concert you could possibly think of. (Who else is going to hold my hoop when I get lost in the crowd!) And with that I was ready to go! We decided to make it a road trip starting all the way from Miami since I wanted to test out my “new” car. That was probably not the best idea. Started off great but hardly making it into Georgia the car broke down and all four of us were left stranded. It put us a bit behind schedule but we weren’t going to let that stop us! But that is a story that I’ll save for another day..

This was my second camping event, the first being in Washington at The Gorge for ABGT250 in September 2017. I was ready for any weather. So, forgetting it was still summer, I expected it to be a bit chilly since it was Michigan. Never been of course. It was the opposite. The weather was amazing just like people. It’s almost like it’s a holiday on its own with everyone celebrating from day one giving you high fives and hugs saying “Happy Forest” even at the lowest point of a festival...waiting in line! Everyone made you feel so welcomed and even though it was my first time there, I felt like I was home.

The forest has so much to offer. It’s much more than just music. Whether you want to splash it up at the Gold Rush Water Park near by, get lost in the forest with the breath taking art installations, or participate in a scavenger hunt. The options are never ending! I got to jam out at a silent disco, barter goods at the Trading Post, and even earned Eco points by helping clean up the commonly shared areas. By the way you can redeem those for incredible prizes! Come sit with us under the Roochute and come together as a team and along the way I’m sure you will discover new music and be ready to shuffle the night away.

I was more familiar with the lineup of first weekend but decided to go the second one to explore more. I got to see artist such as The String Cheese Incident, Rüfüs Du Sol, Get Real, Testpilot, and as I am a sucker for trance I could not miss the chance to see Lane 8! I love me some trance! As part of my experience with a media pass, I got to record an interview with Jauz! The first weekend he actually stayed on the camp grounds as he expressed he wanted to fully experience the Electric Forest life just like everyone else. He spoke to us a little bit about a 55 city bus tour that would take place after Electric Forest on which he would be showcasing his record label: Bite This. Similar to Skepsis, I discovered that Jauz is also very influenced by the U.K. and would like to bring some of their musical style back to the states and bridge them together. He was very easy to talk to and I for one can’t wait to see what he has in store for us in the near future.

Mariana is a EF veteran and shared with me some of the things to do in and about the forest. One thing she told me was to not limit myself to a schedule. Let yourself and your mind wander, listen and discover the forest. I am glad to have taken her advice and not rushed anywhere.

The venue itself is as big as the hearts of all its attending fans, so big in fact that I unfortunately had to miss out on riding the hot air balloons and a few other attractions. On the last day, as we were entering the venue, they had to close down for a couple of hours due to a storm that was approaching. Everyone was instructed to go back to the campgrounds to secure their belongings as stages throughout the venue were doing the same. The winds were a bit strong and our camp site did get a little bit wet but that did not stop us from having a good time. The skies cleared up soon and everything was back up and working at full swing in a short couple of hours. Once the festival ended, we weren’t ready to pack it in just yet, we headed to the RV camp grounds where we sang and danced well into the morning at the RV after parties.

Electric Forest helped me find a new love for nature. When we would get tired we would just take out our hammocks and lay between the trees and just take everything in and watch the many talented people of the forest. Whether you’re a beginner or the next Vanesa Seco or Brookelynn Bley there is a zero judgment vibe throughout the grounds which makes for a phenomenal lights and sound show featuring you. August 9: The 100 2x01, The 48

Okay, settling down to rewatch 2x01, the start of my favorite season...

I love this Clarke so much. Badass Clarke, sneaky Clarke, a Clarke who will fearlessly do what she has to in order to escape and to get to her friends. A Clarke with convictions and guts.

How DO they know everyone’s names lol? Is that ever explained? (ETA: Monty was obviously the informant.)

Mount Weather is one of my favorite parts of this show, honestly. I love that their mission is in part to preserve the beautiful things humanity created, like art; they gave their prisoner Starry Night. The ORIGINAL Starry Night. I just find that very moving. All of these non-essential parts of being human... the show has abandoned them and that’s part of why it’s so hollow for me now, I think.

Level 5: where it all begins and it all ends.

The Clarke/Maya relationship could have been so much more, tbh. Like they had their good moments, like threatening to kill each other etc., but they could have gone deeper.

Surprise! Underground executive branch family dinner! This is the sort of twist I can get behind.

Haha remember when actual delinquents still existed? I joke but truly the later canon has ruined parts of this show for me.

I forgot Tristan survived into 2x01. Not for long. Such Grounder hypocrisy: “That’s one. I lost 300.” He makes it sound as if Finn marched into a village and killed 300 people--they were fucking soldiers on the attack you dum-dum.

“Only our warriors speaking English.” Well that sounds like bullshit based on literally everything we see after this point.

The statue of Lincoln is “the place we go to settle disputes.” First, please don’t say they settle disputes to the death or some nonsense, and second, that’s his namesake... Significant? I mean, objectively, no, but can I make something out of it somehow?

I disliked Luna but she COULD have been so interesting and she and Lincoln COULD have had quite a dynamic. I headcanon them as exes. I want to know their whole backstory tbh. When they met. How. If he wanted to go with her to the sea. If he did perhaps and then came back.

Drink every time someone cauterizes a wound.

You know what else they should have done? Story line about the meeting of Grounder and Sky People medicine. Oh wait that would have taken away from the repetitive war story lines never mind.

That dropship is so fucking impressive. WHERE ARE THE AWARDS FOR THE SET PEOPLE?

And the costume people for those awesome masks.

Am I supposed to feel bad for this Grounder and his charred friend? I do not. Next time, don’t attack the children for no reason and you won’t get burned to a crisp. Easy.

The thing is I can never get behind the Raven + Murphy friendship 100% even though their S5 dynamic looked interesting because he literally fucking shot her and that’s just not a bygones are bygones thing. But they do have personalities that mesh well together so in that way it’s sort of a shame. Also he 10000000000000% had a crush on her don’t even try to argue.

She fired that gun at him. I forgot that. She fired but was out of bullets, that’s the only reason he didn’t die right there. “Yeah I would have shot me too.”

I’m p. sure that’s the real Mount Weather?

I know the Mount Weather people have no leg to stand on when it comes to the Grounders and that they’re...pretty obviously racist, but in their defense--the Grounders were written to be pretty savage, so “savages,” while unforgivably racially tinged, is a fair descriptor of them.

I know I’ve harped on this before but Mount Weather has a judicial system of some sort and it’s possible to press charges there. Somehow. The world building on this show sucks balls.

“They also said you were their leader” is like some retconning, okay. Because you will not convince me that for most of S1 BELLAMY wasn’t the leader in the eyes of the delinquents.

“Kiddo.”

Fucking love Dante. Where are my Dante + Clarke mentor/mentee or ex-mentor/mentee or different-gen-rivals fics?

“We prioritize safety over sentimentality.” As Maya takes blood she absolutely doesn’t need but is having just in case and that she knows comes from someone else’s tortured body because she’s accepted this as something they do, because she’s not sentimental. But she already feels guilty.

Clarke is already using the word “capture.” I had a discussion with someone once about Clarke’s vision of Mount Weather versus, say, Jasper’s, and why it was different and I said some poorly phrased stuff that didn’t really reflect my thoughts and opinions and it still haunts me but I feel like this is...relevant to that. How she immediately feels ‘captured,’ trapped.

Clarke’s devotion to her friends and her people was still so pure and right here.

Dante really does believe he “saved” them. I wonder what his thought process was... I really hate the “savages” so I must save these children? These children look interesting, let’s meet some new friends? She’s right of course that if they were really guests, they could leave.

Multiple crash sites over 100 square miles = I should go on google maps to confirm my Pennsylvania/Farm Station theory but I’m too lazy.

GOD THOSE CLOTHES. I love that Clarke picks the pants and the high heel shiv.

There’s no way there’s actually time for natural selection to work that fast in 97 years and also I’m pretty sure the Sky People are genetically modified because their original pool was way too small for the process Dante is describing but whatever this show is all la-di-da science.

Also: this is how you run an underground Bunker OCTAVIA.

Dante was the only rival/antagonist/whatever Clarke has ever had that rivals her instincts and intelligence yeah I said it; fight me. I know she needed to be on the outside for this season to work but he should have been her mentor. He basically set her up to be mentored and then she ran off and into L who basically destroyed her and she’s never recovered.

THAT REUNION. Heartwarming. Though hard to watch too because this show did both Jasper and Monty so dirty. (Yeah I said that too WHAT OF IT.)

“Dying. Same as you.” Murphy gets all the good lines. That’s why people like him, forget this “redemption arc.”

The Grounder Raven killed was Murphy’s guard and honestly--hilarious. He abandons his post, realizes all his friends are skeletons, pickpockets one, then is shot by what he must initially assume is a dead body. Better character than almost anyone introduced from S3 on.

This cake scene is the most iconic. Jonty were scene stealers stfu. They’re children--basically. They get to act their age. They get to be happy and silly and they loved each other so much.

“Pretend like you’re happy to see me.” / “We are happy to see you.” See? Adorable. I know he’s no cinnamon roll but gosh, adorable.

And then Clarke comes in like secret espionage time and they just look so Tired TM.

I feel like Monty knew, or suspected on some level, that Jasper wasn’t just ‘bummed out’ by Clarke’s suspicions, he was panicking a little.

I can’t believe Jasper and Maya have known each other for like 10 seconds and she’s already seen his O face.

“Clarke’s the only reason we survived.” Um ex-CUSE me but I know you didn’t forget Bellamy’s existence, Jasper.

Clarke’s so smart!

Maya brings out the big guns, literally.

“I’m the one who fired the rockets. Should I not have done that?” is so heartbreaking. Mostly because of the delivery. I love this entire scene. There are like 8 different scenes I love in this episode, like whole-heartedly and truly love.

Clarke’s suspicions really do look like paranoia. Like I see what she’s picking up on, saw it even the first time I watched this ep, but there’s a sense in which she does appear irrational.

There’s actually something kinda funny about Bellamy running out with a spear in one scene, looking around blankly, and then getting chained up as a prisoner in the next scene. At least he inspired his little protege Monroe. Scenes like this are the reason she joined Pike in S3.

Tristan’s like “Who are these fucking children running at me and screaming?” Then he gets shot in the head. Goodbye Tristan you won’t be missed.

“We’re here now. Everything’s going to be okay.” This sounds like Kane playing out a hero fantasy he’s had since he was a child. Except he’s talking to two mud-stained kids who are looking at him skeptically instead of, like, a captured heroine or something.

I feel like they set up this conflict where the adults/Sky People elite come in and, like Kane says explicitly, assume they’re in charge and everyone will fall in line, but then the delinquents don’t see it that way or want that: they have their own priorities (their friends) and their own relationships (Finn and Bell don’t even LIKE each other but they’re still communicating by look) and their own knowledge (the pipes that allow them to move through the dropship camp quickly and without permission). But then... it sort of plays into the rest of the season...but not that much?? Not as much as I would like.

“You are not animals. There are rules. Laws. You are not in control here anymore.”

This show sacrificed a lot of complex relationships to just either make people buddy-buddy who had no reason to be or just arbitrarily assign relationships to scenes or episodes without regard for continuity at all.

Raven took Jasper’s goggles.... never over this.

How was bringing Octavia to TonDC faster than collecting some beetles for her to eat?

“Loss, pain, regret. Time eases these things.” I’d say this is the sort of line the show should be repeating but God when it gets a line in its teeth it never lets the fuck go so I guess it’s better this one remains pristine.

I find Dante very sympathetic but also so creepy.

They weren’t really patrolling for other people, were they? Because like...surely they would have found them. They’re at the dropship and close by. He was just bullshitting here. But why don’t they want to make even more new friends?

Dante’s stationery is presidential themed lol. Glad we stocked up the bunkers properly with the important stuff.

The crashed Alpha Station is beautiful. I believe this was the first time it was shown on the show? Ugh, this whole sequence with the music, it’s perfect and so touching.

Jaha is the most tragic and heartbreaking figure on this show. He also doesn’t get the appreciation he deserves. Just...the image of a man alone in space, talking to his loved ones, hoping they can hear them, not knowing if they can... I almost can’t handle it. I used to be very unsure if I liked where his story line went after this (seeing it in its entirety, I defend it) but surely he could not have died this way.

....I really gotta sleep now.

Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-3129 is housed in a basic 30 x 21 meter room with retractable ceiling for access to sunlight within containment. Containment area is furnished with natural foliage and approximately 1m of soil. Several platforms have been installed along the walls to allow for basking or avoiding D class personnel sent in for routine cleaning and maintenance. Heating coils have been installed as a hot rock to provide an alternate source during colder months. Regular socialization has been recommended after the incident on [REDACTED].

Description:

SCP-3129 appears at its base to be a cross between Varanus komodoensis (komodo dragon) and Crocodylus acutus (American crocodile). Measures 9.1 meters (30ft) from nose to tail, weighing approximately 236 kilograms (520 lbs).

Bioluminescent patches line either side of its spinal ridge, giving off a gold to yellow glow at all times barring in bright light. These patches have been noted to make a decent “nightlight” according to D class who have managed to gain the entity’s affection. “[It] seems to enjoy being read to”, one D class noted, “because [its] hands are too big to properly hold the books.”

Spinal ridge is covered with a thick line of what appear to be quills similar to a porcupine, though are flared with a variety of emotions rather than simply defense. It has tried several times to apologize for backing these quills right into several D class, Dr. Gears, and Dr. Agarwal.

In total the entity has seven eyes, six of which appear to be functional for thermal detection while the seventh can see in several different ranges including but not limited to; visual color spectrum, ultraviolet, infrared, and possibly able to detect [REDACTED].

The seventh eye seems to be a sort of “gateway” into its memories seeing as the “starry” darkness will rearrange and condense to form pictures of the places it has seen. It has been confirmed it has indeed been to these locations, as biological samples brought back confirmed this.

The fluid filled sacs on the specimen’s torso seem to be an internal food store since it has been observed to retain solid matter inside these sacs until ready to be digested or regurgitated. (It is unadvisable that these sacs be punctured - while they do heal perfectly fine - we do not want to smell that awful stench again. BE MINDFUL OF THE COLORS INSIDE THE ABDOMINAL SACS.)

Sacs will contain various substances depending on what it has eaten. The most common substances being; a form of fruit alcohol (mostly fermented apples), honey, or decomposing flesh (tends to darken the fluid of the storage sacs to a dark grey or grey-brown).

The seventh eye can form recent memories as well, this was discovered after it showed a D class that was providing it enrichment an image of Dr. Bright [REDACTED] while intoxicated during a staff holiday celebration.

SCP-3129’s saliva isn’t particularly anomalous but it should be noted that it is toxic enough to cause flu-like symptoms if introduced to the bloodstream. The saliva also contains [REDACTED] which could pose a serious threat to any bitten personnel, please seek medical attention and keep pressure on the wound. It is advised that you do NOT kick the creature to wake it up. Side note, it tends to drool a lot so please be wary of where you step.

It has been known to shapeshift into various forms mimicking natural animals and staff, though retains the gold color of its eyes and its forked tongue. It is unclear if this is a biological change in shape or a memetic phenomenon. It has not used this ability to escape the premises or for hostile actions, every time it has escaped containment it has been found in the staff break room. To allow staff to keep honey in the break room SCP-3129 is to be provided its own supply of honey and fruit, especially during cold months.

Addendum:

Notes with Dr. Kiryu:

• “I’m glad they finally got that roof installed. Have you ever tried to take a giant lizard for a walk? It isn’t exactly a damn dog. But…it is affectionate enough to be at times. I wish a certain coworker of mine would stop letting it be so possessive over me, I really don’t need such long breaks when I have work to do!”

• “After the most recent escape and honey thievery Dr. Mercer was curious to see how it would act if offered some instead of having to steal honey. I’m not sure how I feel having such a large creature bonded to me but it seems to listen to whatever I ask of it. I managed to convince it to regurgitate some of the fermented honey from its abdominal sacs for research.”

• “SCP-3129 has taken a liking to Dr. Mercer’s pet bearded dragon. We were scared that it had eaten the poor thing but apparently that throat pouch functions like a crocodile’s! It was just trying to move the lizard to its favorite basking spot like mother crocodiles move their young from the nest to the water. After we calmed down it was pretty interesting to watch them. Unlike the base species it resembles SCP-3129 is highly social.”

Notes with Dr. Mercer:

• “It’s a huge lizard! What’s not to love? It doesn’t seem too fond of mealworms though, my beardie loves them. It loves apples though, and melon. Pretty cute how it does its best to share with my little guy.”

• “It doesn’t seem to have a sense of loyalty. I gave it honey today and it appears to want my attention over Dr. Kiryu’s. At least today it was a bit easier to draw blood, fluid from its abdominal sacs, and collect saliva.”

• “Both Dr. Kiryu and I gave SCP-3129 honey today. It was pretty happy to have so much of its favorite food but seemed conflicted when something was asked of it. It responded well to simple requests but when given competing requests from both of us it didn’t seem to know what to do.”

General Notes:

• SCP-3129 is allowed to roam and socialize freely once a week under supervision of whoever volunteers. Dr. Bright is not allowed to supervise SCP-3129 after [REDACTED]. The medical staff refuse to remove quills from Dr. Bright’s [REDACTED FOR DECENCY’S SAKE] for a second time.

• SCP-3129 seems to have a pleasing effect on the moods of those it interacts with. This is not due to any memetic phenomenon, according to those spoken to the entity is just a pleasant being.

• While normally decent company, SCP-3129 can become alarmingly vicious. When rather unpleasant D class were assigned to provide enrichment or company for it, they were witnessed being ruthlessly eviscerated and [REDACTED] while still alive. Dr. Bright is not allowed to send any D class personnel into its containment area simply because “they got on [his] nerves”.
