Whether they end up as besties, qpls, or *scissor hands* romantically entangled here are a few things I love about the Evan/Sam dynamic:
• Sam never fetishized Evan. K got a little weird last season and chunks of that seem to still be there.
• Sam doesn’t just “yes and” Evan. Jammer is the ultimate support friend. But Sam challenges him to be better. She doesn’t just let the crazy shit pass.
• Evan trusts Sam. She was the one he could fall into, and the one that he could protect the best by lending her his stats
• Even listens to Sam more than he listens to anyone (the boy has a lot of growing to do, but it’s a start)
• Given the option of all the knowledge in the world, Sam chose to know what would bring Evan back
• Sam is surrounded by artifice. Entertainment industry. A world where she can’t know who loves her and who has something to gain from her. Even among the magical misfits, Evan is the least likely to tell her anything but the truth.
Whatever they have is something special. Be it platonic, romantic, familial, or something in between, there is undoubtedly love.
and no matter how it turns out, I’m just glad we get to live in a world where such wonderful and heartbreaking performances are delivered by Brennan and Danielle and Erika and Lou, shepherded by the incomparable Aabria Iyengar

Save Dead Boy Detectives
Hey friends,
I’m hoping you can spare a minute to help out. Please take a second to sign the petition at the end of this post to help save Dead Boy Detectives!
Now, you might be thinking, “Why should I care? I didn’t even watch it.”
Tumblr media
Well, this isn't just about one show. Dead Boy Detectives is far from the first series Netflix has canceled, and we’re especially frustrated because this is part of a growing trend. LGBTQ+ inclusive series like this one are often axed after just one or two seasons, leaving fans heartbroken and hesitant to start new shows in the future. It’s become a sort of “throwaway culture” where unique, diverse stories just… disappear. And that’s honestly so disheartening for those of us who connect with these characters.
Fans are especially angry because Dead Boy Detectives is highly praised by both audiences and critics. The viewership numbers were solid and comparable to first seasons of shows like Emily in Paris or Heartstopper, which are now going into their third or fourth seasons. So it’s hard to understand why this show is being cut when it clearly resonated with people and had the potential to go the distance.
That’s why it would mean so much if you showed a little solidarity and stood against this trend with us.
And of course, it would be amazing if you gave the show a chance. Even though a second season may not happen, the storylines in season one are mostly wrapped up, so you can still enjoy the ride without feeling like you’re left hanging.
One of the best parts of Dead Boy Detectives is how diverse the cast is. For once, 3 of the 4 main characters aren’t white, and this level of representation has meant the world to many fans. There is also a high proportion of badass women in the series.
Plus, the story is packed with important themes like abuse, bullying, grief, finding and accepting yourself, and of course, the beauty of found family and friendship. Wrapped up in horror, detective stories, and genuine comedy-drama, Dead Boy Detectives strikes a balance that makes it both fun and heartfelt.
And the LGBTQIA+ representation! We've got a canonical gay Edwardian ghost, a gay human-crow familiar, a lesbian butcher, a sapphic librarian, and even a pansexual shape-shifting cat king.
So please, sign the petition, and maybe check out the show. It would mean the world to all of us in the fandom.

the gods putting two twelve year old demigods (and grover) in terrible danger/near death situations for little to no reason is so terrifyingly accurate. it’s shocking but it’s not unexpected. as sally said in the very beginning, (setting the scene for this whole storyline), not everyone who looks like a monster is a monster, and not everyone who looks like a hero is a hero. it’s horrifying and so true.

I'm jumping off a bridge. Their backstory is so tragic, I can't.
The fact that even Queenie being in the state she was, Kinger still found humanity in her, the fact that he risked his life knowing she could go crazy and attack him just so he could touch her one last time.
Tumblr media
And the fact that Queenie allowed him to do it, the fact that she was able to keep control as a abstracted just so she could feel him. Because she loved him and he loved her back and both of them knew her fate, but in that moment, it was just them, their last moment together so both made it work.
Tumblr media
This is such a powerful image I want to hug both of them.

To me, what is so fantastic about One Piece Fan Letter is the emphasis on the way the Straw Hats have created these connections in the lives of people they have never met. The ending scene, with all the hands putting together the puzzle pieces, and the way that all these connections came together in one dazzling way-- I loved that. I teared up at that. Wherever the Straw Hats go, they leave behind all of these puzzle pieces for people to put together and create bonds that would not have existed had the Straw Hats not shown up!
And it also just... Makes me so in love with the concept of the world after Luffy becomes King of The Pirates. I know that Oda has the final chapter planned in his head, and I doubt we will really see the long lasting effects of Luffy achieving the title of Pirate King + his dream, and I really do not want a sequel series ala Boruto or Yasahime, but.... I want to see a world in which children believe they can become a Brave Warrior of the Sea thanks to Usopp, I want to see more children look at Nami and realize they don't NEED to have a Devil Fruit or Haki or muscles to have adventures. I want to see the next generation of the One Piece world believe so strongly in their dreams, that they set out to accomplish them.
One Piece Fan Letter really opened the door, I think, for more and more stories about the "regular" people in the world of One Piece, the people you don't see in the arcs because they're the nondescript background characters, and how the Straw Hat Crew has changed them. And I want that. To me, that is fantastic.

you put it into words
a lot of the marvel bro-dudes are getting all pissy and annoyed with aaa and to that, i say, i dont give a fuck about your opinion. first off the writing is awesome idc what anyone says, but even if it was just mid, i dont care. it would be entertaining either way, i mean a show about gay ass witches plus joe locke and patti lupone? yes please !!
i'd be down either way. but here's the thing:
agatha all along did more than just give me entertainment. it was more than just a show about fictional characters to me.
it gave me a reason to keep being excited for the next week. it got me wanting to go to school so it can be one hour closer to the next episode. it got me writing stories again, even if some of them are half-assed, even if most of them aren't and will never be finished.
it gave me a reason to be happy.
so i dont care what anyone is saying about it. i dont care that its not typical marvel (coming from a diehard marvel girl). i dont care. period.
for the past month and a half, aaa was my source of happiness. and im grateful for it. end of fucking story.
