In their trek back from the eastern island, Maria hastens her steps, struggling slightly as she attempts to catch up to a certain sunburnt someone.
"Rafal!" The little sister in her nearly moves to tug at his shirt, but she thinks better of it in the same breath. Instead she only trots alongside him, her expression brightening, grin widening, should he deign to favor her with his attention. "Could I ask you something real quick?"
Her chin tilts upward by a hair as rosy-hued eyes scan his face for any sign of an angry flush to his skin. Leaning over slightly, she cups a hand to her mouth, a secret for the two of them.
"Are you feeling alright?" She whispers, blinking at him with concern. "You looked a little woozy when I saw you before the game. Hee hee... if you drink some extra water, I'll share some of my candy with you when we get back, okay?"
Thudding heel and exerting breath arrived at the fore of his attention, belonging to an even smaller and weaker human than the average. Maria, provided his realization, and curiously not with great distaste. For her, powerful strides curtailed to a manageable pace; not for his consideration toward shorter legs, of course, but the mystery to be unearthed of their owner's presence. Ally the girl was, unimaginably naive she was also. Much too like a kindly Divine One known once before, and known again now.
"What is it." Cynical per norm, friendly never. Question, she sought to ask, and Rafal could imagine a dozen on his own, thoroughly aligned with topics of their defeat, disappointed reflection over the outcome, and even favor. Not a single one of those considerations encompassed well-meaning inquiry over his condition.

Exasperation released on a quiet sigh, her choice somehow expected but unbelievable all the same: "So you remembered? Observant, I shall say—in addition to guileless. It was not I who was first to fall among our party, and unlike yourself, I do not suffer from fallible human weaknesses either. In that way, it is your own well being that you should concern yourself with."
With that counsel his advance resumed, taken to seeming normalcy and then some; long, forward steps without hesitation, self-assured tone with commanding resonance; only an air of nonchalance remotely out of sorts. Very important reminder that he would not forget the very important offer made.
". . .As for your candy. Whether it is worthy, I shall be the judge of that.

i don't know man. but sometimes i think about percy breaking the news to nico that his sister's dead. and nico plummetting into depression, screaming at the boy he once thought of as a hero to die. and percy watching this ten-year-old disappear into the shadows mid sobbing. and percy's shaking and traumatized and exhausted. but he forces that pain down his throat and accepts the role as the prophecy kid so nico has a chance to create a future he wants. while percy's is set in stone. and i don't know man.

In The Iliad, Diomedes is able to fight & injure both Aphrodite and Ares with Athena's help/at Athena's command.
In Epic, Odysseus is only able to "defeat" one immortal, and that's Circe, and only with Hermes' explicit divine assistance.
Except... He did actually receive another godly order. Another god made a demand of him; Poseidon explicitly told him to become more Ruthless. You could argue it was a divine command, intentional or not.
...I joked about him being a paladin last night, but I do think there's power in stories when it comes to oaths, and what the gods tell you to do, tell you to be.
Odysseus followed through with Poseidon's demands, and he was rewarded for it, even if perhaps not the way Poseidon would have appreciated.

Looking at the notes of that Cass name poll and I don't mind people preferring Black Bat for certain reasons, but saying 'Batgirl is not unique/her own name' is not a good argument to me. Yes, it's not unique; that's the whole point. It's a legacy mantle. The power comes from the fact that Cass is linked, through Batgirl, to the people she cares about most. For a girl who was forcefully isolated, who was denied a name (and therefore denied a legacy), Batgirl is the first thing that was ever hers. And Batgirl is not, and has never been, tied to Bruce; the point of the mantle is women carving out their own spaces, forging their own identities regardless of what others have tried to make them. Saying Batgirl is not a good mantle for Cass is also denying what she brought to the name - under Cass, Batgirl became a legacy mantle. Batgirl irrevocably changed her, and she irrevocably changed Batgirl. Preferring other names is completely fine, but it's important not to undermine what Batgirl meant, and continues to mean, to Cass.

Hello, I'm not sure if you're aware, but tumblr is going to start helping midjourney gather data for their AI. You're one of the artists I follow here pretty actively and I wanted to warn you to maybe start nighshading your art before posting it here so it doesn't get swept up!
I've seen a couple of posts about it. Feeling disappointed but not that surprised. Also not excited about having to start nightshading/glazing my pieces but if there isn't going to be any serious regulations regarding data scraping and ai "art", there aren't a lot of choices.
Thank you for taking the time to warn me just in case, it was very thoughtful of you!

Eloise in part 2 could've planning the heist of the century to steal a couple of thousand from bridgerton pockets in the name of feminism for her friend in need. Instead she was having badly executed one-sided dyke drama with her ex best friend for marrying her brother while Cressida was experiencing the horrors :/

GLaDOS's insults are interesting. Because they're so clearly prejudiced, right? She's making fun of Chell for being fat and adopted. These are scummy things to make fun of someone for, and things that would realistically be punching bags for prejudiced people interacting with this character.
But I don't think GLaDOS actually holds the sentiments she's expressing. Rather, they're a means to an end.
I get this mostly from her lines in co-op on the subject:
"Did you know humans frown on weight variances? If you want to upset a human, just say their weight variance is above or below the norm."
She calls Chell fat not because she thinks she's fat or that she personally finds anything wrong with weight variances, but because she knows calling humans fat makes them feel bad, and she's bitter about being killed and wants to make Chell feel bad.
Same goes with her being adopted. As soon as it doesn't emotionally or pragmatically benefit GLaDOS to make fun of Chell for being fat or adopted, she actively refutes Wheatley's attempt at bullying her for these things:
"And...? What, exactly, is wrong with being adopted?" "Also: Look at her, you moron. She's not fat."
She walks back her previous derogatory assertions as if they don't mean anything to her, because they don't. She never believed them in the first place.
She treats Rattmann's schizophrenia much the same way. She uses it to try and manipulate him, to make him doubt himself enough to come out of hiding where she can kill him, the same way she tries to make Chell doubt herself and turn back when she's escaping the facility back in Portal 1. The ableism she expresses is not a genuinely held belief, but a means to an end that she has no qualms about using.
Whether that makes it better or worse, I have no idea! I'd say worse on account of the intention to cause doubt or hurt to the target. But it's a very unique combination of values, isn't it? You're much more used to seeing the inverse: people being insulting, with no actual malicious intent, as a result of unchecked biases. Like, for instance, friendly little Wheatley unintentionally being super condescending about Chell's brain damage and muteness.

You know I get that people don't like Carlos. He's not everyone's cup of tea. But don't sit there and act like he's not a team player who only cares about himself. The amount of people who keep regurgitating the same talking points about this team player nonsense has skyrocketed. Yes every driver gets scrutinized for every little thing they say. But the amount of people spreading conspiracy theories about how Ferrari is sabotaging Charles to make Carlos feel better is alarming. Carlos was faster in all free practices, qualified on pole, and led like 90% of the laps. That's not a gifted win! That was well earned!
But back to the point about being a team player. All year long we have heard about Ferrari having brake-related issues. When Carlos got on the radio to talk about Charles speeding up behind, that was not a personal attack. The drivers are told in advance what lap times to hit. Also, he's in a high-pressure situation trying to get the best result possible. They're gonna say things that may not come across as nice. But that doesn't mean he doesn't care about the team or only wants good results for himself. He's spoken numerous times about wanting to be a WDC with Ferrari. His dreams are being crushed in real time. Seeing how people aren't capable of understanding why he wanted to win so badly is sooooooooo annoying. He may never have a chance to fight for wins and podiums because you never know what the future holds in F1. So yes, he's gonna fight for the win. That's his job. And he's shown a lot of growth after becoming a Ferarri driver.

these being grace's vows to nick is so....... when the show is about you and this woman you've been pushing away for decades and decades and even now that you are friends you still sometimes push her away. but she always came back, and still comes back to you now, again and again. and now she's watching you say these things not to her but to a man you only agreed to marry because you had a horrible fight with her and thought you threw her out of your life. but she came back. for you. but she has to watch you say these things that very well could be about her to this man. and you already know this marriage is wrong, that he wasn't who you were supposed to be saying all this to, but it's too late now and all you and she can do is watch these vows play out

it occurs to me that jamie's conversation with ted at the pub in 2x02 might be the first time he talks about his dad with someone who already knows that james is abusive (with the possible exception of georgie). which means that the first time he hears an outside perspective on the situation, it's ted telling him that his dad's abuse is what made him great
