Saturday Six (Stuff)

It's been a busy, busy week. Work is picking up. It not really a complaint, even if I do like things more relaxed. The only real thing I don't like is my parents' voice in my head "you need money though!" whenever I want to vent about being too busy.( ಠ ಠ )

When you have a child going through transition, and they aren't out to everyone, and don't plan to be, sometimes it's difficult to keep track of which pronouns to use where. I'm trying my best to keep it all together.（’-’*)

Can daylight savings time mess up the effectiveness of my birth control pills?

Someone asked us:

I have been on the pill for two years now, but I never thought about the effect of daylight savings. I was on my reminder pills when the time changed. Then I started my new pack I took the pill late because of the time change. I also had unprotected sex. Was I protected? or can starting a new pack an hour late affect me?

If you were really only off by one hour, you’re fine. While it’s better to take your birth control pills at the same time every day, daylight savings doesn’t present a problem. (Otherwise we’d see a spike in unintended pregnancies at the same times every year!)

But the type of birth control you’re using and how late you took your pill does matter. If you’re on a combination pill (contains both estrogen and progestin), screwing it up by a few hours isn’t a big deal as long as you take it within that day. So for the hour change for daylight savings, you’re still in the safe window.

If you’re on a progestin-only pill (often called mini-pills), you have less wiggle room. Taking a progestin-only pill more than 3 hours past your usual time puts you at risk for pregnancy, so if that happens use a back-up method (like condoms) for the following 48 hours (2 days). You can also use emergency contraception as a back-up if you had unprotected sex after missing a pill. 

If you’re ever worried about messing up the timing of your pills, you can always contact your nurse or doctor for instructions on what to do if you miss a pill, and use a back-up method (like condoms) in the meantime.

i swear i'm not just in denial about bsk's dating news (LOL) but i heard rumors that 'fake dating' exists in the industry, especially between actors/actresses - idols??? they said it's this whole underground thing so the actors get more traction, the idols get more streams. is this real or is it just stuff you see in fanfics 😂 i'm asking because i can be a bit gullible lmfao

What type of artists are you looking for? And are you after a specific style or a range of styles?

We are looking for artists who can create pieces with fully rendered fairies and a background within the specified schedule. These can be digital artworks that are flat colour artworks, paintings, a mixture, or another style entirely.

We will also accept mixed media and traditional artworks, but they will need to be scanned at a minimum of 300dpi.

When you sign up for an artist position, are there any requirements to be a part of the team?

E-mail communication is required (discord is optional).

You must have a PayPal account to receive payment.

You must be able to communicate comfortably in English.

You must be 18 or older at the time of signing the contract by the 16th of February.

For artists accepted into the zine what would be the timeline for completing and submitting artwork?

Our current schedule for the artists requires concept ideas to be submitted by Feb 16th, and the final version by May 16th! Progress check-ins will be on Feb 29th, March 21st, and April 11th.

When the zine is for sale, where would the profits go to (charity, zine admin, etc.)?

We are aiming to hold pre-orders in June/July of 2024, with a flat fee paid to all contributors and additional proceeds split between contributors and mods.

Our priority is to make sure each contributor is paid fairly for their work. If sales do well enough, 20% will be used for future books and projects, and 80% split between taxes and fees, production costs, contributors and shipping costs.

Is this physical or digital and will there be prints of the art available? Got any merch ideas planned to go along with the zine?

Both physical and digital! Our goal is to make a 210 x 148 mm (A5) perfect-bound soft cover book.

We also plan to add some paper merch, including prints of some of the art from the book. Additional merch ideas include stickers, sticker sheets and bookmarks.

So, today I was on Reddit reading about KOSA, and I found this on r/AO3

Here's the Invest in Child Safety Act, it only has five cosponsors compared to KOSA's sixty-three.. wonder why..

Anyways, I was wondering, could steering reps away from KOSA while leading them towards other and SAFER bills help? :P

If these bills really ARE safer, wouldn't it give us a better chance of KOSA not being passed if we gave our Senators and Reps examples of alternative bills they could support?

Like, instead of just saying "DON'T DO THIS!!!" We could say "DON'T DO THIS, but THIS is a better alternative that will keep everyone safe AND actually be helpful."

I have a feeling most of the Democrats supporting this bill have fallen for the "We're protecting the children!!" farse. So, let's not just tell them the problem, but offer a solution! An alternative that will ACTUALLY protect children.

I posted this as it's own thing, but I wanted to add it to this update thread so people are more likely to see it.

The Blue Exorcist hiatus will be extended for another month (through the November issue)

As Blue Exorcist celebrates its 15th anniversary, I'm taking my first ever unplanned three-month break from publishing it. I think it's about time to share more information on the situation with my readers...It's a personal matter but I'd like to tell you.

I was actually diagnosed with an illness at my regular checkup in March, and I've spent the last few months working in between hospital visits.

I've finished surgery, which went well, and I've been discharged for the time being, but I needed extra time for post-op treatment so I'm going to have to extend the hiatus.

It's ended up as a long 3-month wait, and I'm sorry about that!

I'll be keeping my exact diagnosis private for now, but in my case it shouldn't be life-threatening with proper treatment.

I'm currently back to work and feeling good, so don't worry too much!

[Drawing of Katoh in a hospital bed] I actually got excited for my first hospitalization, and my first surgery, and my first general anesthesia, and my first catheter... Maybe it's a manga artist thing. I had my catheter removed by a nurse who apparently reads Blue Exorcist, haha, nothing can scare me anymore (*Catheter=a tube that goes directly in the urethra) (Nurse: Take a deep breath and I'll take it out when you exhale...)

The current plan is:

Next month: There will be no Blue Exorcist chapter in the November issue of Jump SQ (which comes out in October), but I'm drawing a new poster for it!

The month after next: Blue Exorcist is scheduled to return in the December issue of Jump SQ (which comes out in November.)

At any rate, I'll be continuing treatment alongside work for a while, so there may be times when that impacts my work and makes you all worry...Apologies in advance! My soul couldn't rest if I died before finishing Blue Exorcist, so I'm hoping to stick around and keep drawing it while I continue my treatment.

All this has just been spurring on my inconsistency as an author, but I hope you'll stick with Blue Exorcist going forward!

Hi everybody,

This monthly plans post I've added an extra section to mention a more personal update that's gonna impact what's done in March.

Schedule News:

My schedule is going to be different in March because starting on the 23rd I'm going on a two-week trip. About one week of March and one week of April won't have any game development progress from me. I don't want to act like having breaks is a bad thing and needs excuses, but there are important personal reasons for why this is happening. So, I want to say I appreciate all the support for the games which allows me to take a time off like this in general. Thank you!

Saturday Six (Stuff)

Work is going well. The customer was happy with this. Only bad thing is, one of my sewing machines scrapped out again. It never wants to stay in time for very long. It's quite annoying when you have to pay hundreds of dollars to get it fixed, and drive hundred of miles on top of that to get to the repair place.Σ(-᷅_-᷄๑)

It's going to be warm this weekend! I'm so ready for spring!(❁´▽`❁)*✲ﾟ*

We're doing a spot of spring cleaning due to the Dudette's gf coming to visit.ʚ♡⃛ɞ(ू•ᴗ•ू❁)

I still wish customers respected the fact that I'm not their friend, I have set business hours, I know what I'm doing even though I'm a woman, and regardless of if I've made something before or not, I have a visual mind and I can make the thing you want. Idk, stuff like this just annoys me. I've been told to just get over it since I'm in customer service. Ha. Good one.(.﹒︣︿﹒︣.)

The kittehs are all well. Leeloo has been on a very big gremlin streak lately. Reggie has been a bit jealous and decided he's a baby too. Boots is just Boots. (=^-ω-^=)
