Oh my days I've been waiting for an ask like this hold on.

So first of all I gotta ✨loredrop.✨ I made silly little playlist for all the guys in the series before I got into it to see if they're even somewhat accurate, most of my predictions were appropriate to the characters at least in my opinion.

My predictions and current thoughts are as followed:

Ruggie is 100% into some popular punk bands but he calls them underground and niche. He probably heard some bands play live, he wasn't anywhere near them though, just camping outside of the stadiums and other places where the events were held. We know that Ruggieboy is a person who is rather wise when it comes to the streets. Therefore it's easy to assume he hung out around the more popular kinds of people (in and out of the groups) and spent lots of time outside. So he definitely heard a lot of rap and street musicians. Most people who tend to be popular listen to rock and rap due to how compatible and flexible these genre's can be. I can see him knowing pop songs and DEFINITELY knowing some k-pop.

Jack is a tough one. I feel like he's the type of a person to say he listens to everything that catches and just... Clicks yk? Most of it would seem like phonk, though it irks me to think that it would be just that. Jack would be the type of a guy who'd have a CD collection (perhaps even a record collection of he's feeling fancy) with like... Songs and music his friends like. He doesn't have much of the stuff he likes there, preferring to just listen to whatever his friends would listen to. He heard multiple songs that people said are like him... He's tired of hearing "let's get down to business" as the first words to said song. Damn I wanna rewatch Mulan now.

I feel like Leona wouldn't listen to much music. Like occasionally on a good day he would, other than that he seems like the type of a guy who finds music too distracting. My best friend suggested "He would probably listen to probably Disney/Kids movies songs because of his nephew." I can't argue with that one honestly, some of those are total earworms. Though it opens another worm of cans, would that mean in some way that he'd listen to Disney on ice too? That's basically theater, which would make him a theater kid therefore he'd know Hamilton... My mind is rotting. I cannot imagine him listening to much music.

Npcs from this dorm would listen to the most random shit ever. Like you 'd pull up the logs of the most listened songs and it would be like... Korn and then Babymetal followed by Sparta remixes idk. Also jack deffo had a Sparta remix phase, like I used to run a lot and I know that Sparta remixes were the BEST to run to. Omw to rewatch Mulan now.

OKAY SO- woe Spoilers and speculations upon ye

I'm still reflecting on the card that's deliberately put into Alice's room underneath a picture frame of the Deross family. It's probably just cut and dry like "ohhh Alice is a sacrifice" but I can get more nitpicky with it

On the back it says "Welcome to Join the Hunting Game" which could be two things

Either A really poor translation on IDV's part, and is further saying the obvious that Alice is a sacrifice (Which would make sense given how we've pretty much gotten hunter versions of da capo excluding her, if you count Frederick being a hallucination influenced by Orpheus' exposition, and how Melly is on the near horizon).

Or it could quite literally be saying "Here pookie, stop running and succumb to the delulu" and putting hunter Alice into concretion But I think it's also probably just saying regardless that Alice is the direct sacrifice that Orpheus believes will keep the games going (clearly something went wrong) given how lambs are treated within religion and folklore.

I also did replay It and select every visit option I could for that sweet loredrop and I haven't seen anyone talk about this either.

The person literally saying that is young orph (orphan, If you will). The whole muse corridor points into details about the raid itself, which is odd because just a cutscene prior was Alice getting chased by hallucinations down that same corridor. It got me thinking about how IDV developers have considered giving Alice a hunter form.

So what do I know about this bird?? Uh the bare minimum actually but it can serve as some type of drop with how the story's going. He's not saying Alice is the Nightingale. He's saying she's better than it, which could resort to the potentiality of hunter Alice taking on the form of a "nightingale" if we go off the fact that most identity swaps with heavy lore (at least in da Capo's case) is based on either regression, repression, or insecurities.

Norton - Repression. He's not keeping up face when it comes to his identity swap. Literally chaos incarnate. Orpheus - Projection. Nightmare can quite literally be called Orpheus' Mary Sue oc. That's the post. Mary/Frederick technically isn't influenced more by Frederick himself but rather Alice's way of seeing it. Which fucks up a lot but let's not talk about it. I'd say it leans more towards Identification.

Melly could potentially have some correlation to the odd point Orph brought up

Which is probably saying that Mr good ol plinius wasn't loyal and probably either had an affair or did something behind melly's back.

If the point of Alice being braver than the Nightingale is anything to go off of and whatnot then it could be safe to say her identity could be based off that if she ever gets one. It could play off of her bravery and need to look towards the future as opposed to Orpheus being stuck in the past. It could also explain why we haven't heard or seen much when it comes to Nightingale, because of two reasons

they're saving her for some big story update much like the rest of the da capo identity swaps.

Orpheus has been PROVEN to be an unreliable narrator. Surely wanting to dissect Orpheus under a microscope isn't delusional enough.

so i was replaying help wanted 1 and realized like, were playing as vanessa right? and the general consensus is that the strange mask is vanessas. but we get the mask in a gift box? from beating corn maze w the purple key? which doesnt make sense to me. cause wouldnt that be finding it? its got a unique area and everything with the cellar which feels important.

if it had been a result of a mask-making minigame i could see it implying that vanessa made it, and seemingly she(or someone?) says “i made it myself” so like. SOMEONE made it and spoke to glitchtrap abt it.

i kinda like it as a system ness thing, losing time and whatnot, because sb vanessa has seemingly no awareness of vanny, but of course i highly doubt thats canon. which makes me think it may literally be a continuity error due to security breach getting chopped up to make the release date :/

small loredrop post but when i got into the illuminae files first back in 2019 my design for AIDAN was… incredibly different. I decided to pick it back up again and throw on some additions (lore explenations for design decisions under the cut)

The first sketch was made from a reference of the original sketch i made back in 2019. I decided to add some damaged parts (self-explanatory lol), the second was me just messing around. I thought it’d be interesting to have torrence and AIDAN have contrasting color scheme outfits with the same aesthetic (Torrence’s uniform would be more traditional, dark coat on a light undershirt, AIDAN’s being reversed). It shows that Torrence and AIDAN should work together and be seen as almost a sort of commanding unit with power over soldiers and weaponry of the Alexander. During the attack on Kerenza (and the subsequent involvement of the Alexander), I assume AIDAN’s uniform would get probably practically shredded (along with major parts of his chassis). I’d like to think Torrence would be nice enough to give AIDAN a turtleneck, though i believe there’d be a certain attachment to his Coat. Part of the reason he gets glasses is because of damaged optics being unable to get fixed due to the inexperience of the new recruits on the Alexander. To help the cadets adjust, i think AIDAN would also try to appear as human as possible (later on Kady’s feelings about him being a machine would make this increase, like, tenfold)

i spent my time at the gym this morning just thinking about hayato and how much of his character i base off this one interaction he had with taki:

the context for this one of course being that this is the end of an episode and hayato's seeing the little kid that he helped get picked up by their dad and the two of them going off and hayato just randomly drops this line which prompts taki to shoot him the really concerned look shown and then the two of them just pack up and walk off joking like normal. it's one that struck me while watching as just... completely out of the norm for how these things typically go? hayato sometimes just says shit Sure... but you know how sometimes you'll want to make a joke about something in your life that's a little dark and people who don't necessarily know that this happened to you or that this is how you talk about these things will be like "?!" for a moment before they realize oh, this is coming from a personal place and this isn't an invitation to push the issue but is a thing they're comfortable joking with me about and knowing that i'm not going to make a big deal about it, and shrug it off and continue? that's the vibe i got from this scene.

because hongo's the first kamen rider everyone knows his story and there's no escaping that; hayato being the second means that he gets some form of shield from the eyes of both the public and from those around him and i feel like he's the kind of person who appreciates that. for the show specifically, it doesn't really go into how hayato was made other than the fact that hongo was the one who saved him, and he obviously feels some sort of appreciation and devotion towards the guy for doing so. even tachibana's pep talks for hayato (which i constantly joked about when they were happening) were geared more towards "hongo would get back up and keep fighting!" instead of "you should get back up and keep fighting to save people!" which i don't think means anything negative; taking a different path to get to the same goal is still getting to the same goal, after all. i just thought it was an interesting shift.

it's so many little things that build up over time. i like the coin scene where he jokes about the coin being double sided and it is, he's calling hongo on his shit before he pulls it but still goes with it. when he got blinded and hopped back on his bike like "i'm a cyborg, these enhanced senses have to be good for SOMETHING, right?" his little inferiority complex that comes through sometimes. how he always seems to make time to go visit the new boys and make sure they're doing okay. he really cares about the people around him. he comes off as a guy who wants to be happy and act silly and have that joy in his life.

and i don't mean to neglect him when i talk about kamen rider - i feel like i talk about him less than i talk about hongo in part because prying into him this way feels almost rude to do in public? the way he comes across feels like something that he's worked on. i don't think he really wants people to know his backstory. i think this is part of why he pairs so well with hongo, because despite the complex he has someone to take the pressure of being known in that way off of him and he can instead compensate for the skills that hongo lacks in the ways that he wants to appear good at, being fun and social. i respect his wishes for privacy at this time. i do however also think that he understands the importance of a good offhand loredrop dark joke to people he trusts and i am so glad that taki's the one that he picks there.

holy molly.... my mind to worse places than rin not being the king's legitimate son (incest... like iris and rin turning out to be siblings or smth).

that being said this royal family IS A HOT MESS. the king and queen don't have one legitimate child i- i am at a lost for words. 100% iris' mom knew of this and blackmailed the queen into getting her daughter into the royal family

and this is such a reflection fr fr but more like how the situation is so damn similar (the connection between the characters is a tad bit different tho). we don't know much about the queen x king relationship, or maybe im losing it and have the memory of a gold fish but hear me out on this. all the characters are re-loving the king and the queen's lives 30 years later. iris is literally the queen in this whole mess of a cocktail. she got pregnant from someone else (i.e. rin) because her husband (i.e. kiyoomi) was not paying attention to her.

pov switch: so when the queen (i.e. iris) got pregnant, the king or her husband (i.e. kiyoomi) knew it wasn't his because he never "touched her." which he then decided to confide in one of his many affairs partners (aka iris' mom; i.e. y/n yuzuru). so when iris' mom found out, she decided to use it against the queen and get her kid into the royal family.

wait... omg what if iris is the king's daughter!?!?!?!? so that's why her mom wanted her in the royal family and why she was so comfortable with rin, because they aren't actually siblings (step-cest vibes tho.. ew) BUT oh my.... that means that kiyoomi is her half-brother and they got married....

ROYAL FAMILIES ARE A MESS PERIOD.

the way so many theories came in that maybe iris and rin are related, whew 🤧 but yes anon you are def right, the royal family IS a mess! imagine having so many children and not a single one of them is your wife’s 😭 OKAY OKAY i appreciate your theories because some of them are actually right (though i will not confirm which ones because we will finally have some loredrop in the next chapter 👀) but you are one smart cookie, anon. it is very bothersome though every time you think about how if kanami (kiyoomi’s mom) never slept with the king years ago, that could’ve been kate (iris’ mom) and how its all so weird that in the current timeline they’re all involved with each other like? iris is married to someone who could’ve been her half-brother, and is sleeping around with rin too 😭

Anyway onto the ACTUAL ask!!! Mmmmmmm I could be SUPER biased with one of these but I actually have a handful: Yae Miko, Kokomi, and Lisa. I don't have any from HSR bc I'm not really involved in the fandom, but those three are my DEFINITES in Genshin, ESPECIALLY Kokomi. I'll explain utc bc this is SO FUCKING LONG (laughed) but do keep in mind that like I haven't played Genshin in a while, haven't kept up with the events minus some spoilers I glanced upon

Unless I've been a blind bat the entire time, you no longer really see Kokomi being discussed en masse. Before she actually APPEARED in game, you had that huge debate going on about whether she was going to end up being the hydro sovereign and that she was going to be this morally-grey strategic leader who believed that the end justified the means. I could have expected too much, but really? No, considering all the shit Hoyo could pull (literally look at Fontaine and their constant loredrops), they could've done SO much better. I think the issue was that Inazuma was so atrociously written, as much as it IS my favourite region, and that unfortunately Mexican waved over to the characters themselves too

She seemed RELEVANT to the lore, with her constellation and the whole thing with Enkanomiya. But her importance was so quickly pushed aside by possibly the worst character butchering I've ever seen for all the buildup they did, and now any other theory relating to her being less than human's been axed bc of Fontaine (all the love to the nation and Neuvi I suppose but I'm really salty about this) and the constant push that she's just a normal human being. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe Hoyo's just pushing the "Kokomi is normal and plain" agenda really hard to surprise us all later and ai wouldn't put it past them but rn? She's essentially faded and forgotten for the most part, being brushed aside as a girl who got pushed to be a leader and is going all Atlas complex (which isn't a bad thing btw, it's just the fact that they hyped her up as the Shogun's most formidable opponent only for it to fall flat) and it's. REALLY sad for me considering how she was actually my MAIN reason why I kept playing for a while

Onto Yae Miko, who faces the same issue that Kokomi does in the sense that due to said atrocious writing, she suffered for it. I think I picked her not only bc of how ofc Inazuma's basically being swept under the rug beyond the events they do bc it was THAT fucking bad, but also due to the Constant Fucking Discussions of character misinterpretation and her queercoding

Thank you twt for all the threads made about Yae Miko's depth in character, but Inazuma itself is fading into obscurity to the point that all the stuff you really see being talked about her is how manipulative she is and how she uses people cuz idk she's evil ig. Do? People? Not know? What 'morally grey' is? Or what 'priorities' are? Maybe she's talked about more than the other two that I've picked, but she isn't talked about in a flattering light for the most part!!!!!! Which is such a shame bc Miko's characterisation is so beautifully complex (at least to me) and all of that's just thrown aside for the sake of "haha flirty evil femme fatale" when there's so much more you could say about her that doesn't describe her as evil and shallow

Lastly is Lisa!!!! My og lesbian!!!!!!! My og loml!!!!!!!!! Who doesn't get talked about a lot unless someone's out ranting about how Lisa was being a creep lol. GOD I have such a gripe against her issue

I get that Mond's also basically fading to obscurity, not bc of bad writing but rather bc of how it was the first ever region you get. Though even when I say that, I do remember seeing someone complain about how Mond sucks bc of exactly that, which......that's the point. One of the complaints wuwa got (sorry wuwa) was the Constant Stream Of Infodumping basically two seconds after you boot up the game. Mond is sparse and simple bc it eased you into the game gently instead of throwing you into hell in the get-go. Unfortunately, it's exactly bc of that that Mond's, again, fading into obscurity too

So this part applies to the other Mond characters too, though the reason why I chose Lisa was bc of the whole debate of whether she's weird or not due to her penchant for flirting with the Traveller. Ofc everyone has their own objective opinion on the matter, and being uncomfortable with her lines is perfectly okay!! This isn't me saying those who feel uncomfy are the ones who are weird or anything, this is me saying that Lisa is so much more beyond what you see initially. She was the Akademiya's genius before she left, got a Vision by just 'what if'ing it one day, has to be lazy or else she can so easily destroy a wide area just cuz idk her feelings went overdrive or something!!!!! Not to mention the whole "she might die soon" thing 🫠🫠🫠

Ofc I also chose these chrs bc like. I LOVE them with my whole heart and would happily kiss them when given the chance, but my opinions run DEEEEPER than just "they're silly to me". Just saying, they should be talked about SO much more than they are rn, as much as I get that we've more than moved on from the regions they're in. Who knowd, maybe Hoyo will actually idk propose to me or smth by making them all relevant the moment I come back on, but I'm not really hopeful atm

LOREDROP: Eddie and I have known each other since my sophomore year of high school! We met when we dueled during a battle of the bands, and had to break things up when our drummers got into a tiff. From then we were close friends with this palpable tension between us. Eddie didn't realize he had feelings for me until Steve and I started dating. He kind of dealt with those feelings quietly and buried them under the love he had for his friends and family, until years later when our paths crossed again, and the two of us got our second chance.

confession — how'd the confession happen, and looking back on it, what are your (and f/os) thoughts on how you were back then?

the confession came one day while Eddie was spending time with me and Steve. We'd been indulging a little in Eddie's stash and it was actually Steve who clocked our attraction to each other. We kissed (!!!) and then he urged us to talk about our feelings, which is when he confessed that, in retrospect, he'd wanted to be with me since the beginning, and Steve since Spring Break, and from that moment the throuple was born! I think the only thing any of us would change is that we were all ~stoned~ and would maybe like to remember the event with a little more clarity.

first thoughts post on this Episode

From the designs of buildings and so on in the Nevarran city, it feels like the artists referenced the existing images of buildings etc from Nevarra, such as the sketches in World of Thedas. ^^ I wondered if the city was Nevarra City, and the water the Minanter. Or is it Cumberland, on the Waking Sea?

^ Neb's animated corpse first appears during Tassia's segment in the opening theme, highlighted in gold, and smaller and slighter of stature than the other soldiers

In the opening theme, Miriam throws knives to put out candles, which reminds me of using water arrows to extinguish torches in the old school Thief games :)

^ This is clever stylistically, both sides of Miriam's face are red - one side with the mark of House Ammosine (in red rather than its usual black due to the opening theme's palette), one side red with blood. It's the same thing, really :(

I know it's because Dolph stinky, but it was clever to draw attention to Miriam's scarf by having her touch it, before having Hira come in and mention it and communicate that it has meaning to Miriam

Hira has the pouch she later puts the Circulum in when she steals it at the start of the show. a lil nice touch, sometimes in shows like these characters seem to manifest bags/pouches out of thin air when the plot needs them to have one. like, nice consistency

When Fairbanks and Hira brace for combat, weapons drawn, Roland simply leans casually against a wall. he Knows Miriam's got this and there's no point in him drawing his sword

When Qwydion is introduced she's called a "rebel mage". did that mean apostate, mage who was in a Circle and rebelled and fought in the mage-tempalr war, or Vashoth mage?

When Hira says "I think you might need this mission as much as I do" she touches her necklace, foreshadowing its (or rather, what it represents) importance in why she needs this mission. ofc as we later learn its a symbol of her family, who were killed by Venatori, and that's why she wants to steal the artifact, in order to destroy Tevinter

^ in the transition to their journey, I thought the corvid flying was a nice touch, like, representing how, like Spymaster Leliana sending forth her ravens from Skyhold, the Inquisition have dispatched the party and so off they fly. or more literally conveying contact between the party and the Inquisition back at Skyhold. which makes sense, this show is like a look at a war table mission

hhh Lacklon seems a bit grumpy when he looks up at the branch Qwydion moves aside in order to pass, like he's thinking about how he's v smoll in comparison

the environments they travelled through were pretty! it made me think about exploring environments in DA:D. blending the layer with the Thedas map so we could see place names of areas they probably travelled through like Trevis, the Silent Plains and Caimen Brea was cool

^ what is the structure here on the left? assuming they're in the Silent Plains here, a ruined part of the Imperial Highway, one of those signs of a city or settlement that once was on the Silent Plains and was destroyed before the First Blight, or perhaps the remains of somewhere dwarven on the surface that was like Kal Repartha?

by the size of this creature's (dragon's?) spine and rib cage, it was freakin enormous!

Miriam trying to break into the palace, and the bit about how one of the Black Divines (shock!) was involved in something illicit, reminded me of Vadis and Irian infiltrating the palace to steal Dumat's Folly in Half Up Front

Qwydion can do some plant magic! 🌸 She's also a talented healer, which reminded me of Francesca from the comics, whose healing magic is supplemented by her plant magic

the magical/weapons store gave me nostalgia for Wonders of Thedas :)

^ blue lyrium lamp? it's blue, glows, and the [mysterious music playing] happens when it's on screen. lyrium emits a song and we know trace amounts of lyrium can be infused in stones to make glowstones. these are commonly used in Orlais to light dark passages. Tevinter is known for greater use of everyday magic, so why not

in DA:I, the description for the rogue ability Knockout Powder is "You throw a handful of dosed dust into an enemy's face, putting them to sleep for a short time." :)
