i did post the story here at some point but sure i'll retell it with more context. anyone who doesn't know, im a lawyer and my favourite character is goro akechi from persona 5 whose face i have been wearing since 2017. ok we proceed

the perfume is followed by kerosene, which is slightly infamous. i encountered it when i was first trying to find a decent gourmand fragrance which actually smells like coffee. (i still haven't found a good one so if anyone has any recs...) that tumblr post about its fragrantica reviews shows off some of the funnier ones, but the actual fragrantica page shows the response is a bit more complicated. followed is a very divisive fragrance. those who love it absolutely adore it. everyone else thinks it's a curse on all of humanity forever. i read those reviews and instantly decided i had to try it so i bought a sample.

the thing that makes followed by kerosene most controversial is that it has really unreasonably strong staying power. the other notable thing about followed is that despite being advertised as a coffee and vanilla forward fragrance, it actually has an INCREDIBLY strong smell of maple syrup. perfume depends really heavily on the individual, since the same perfume will act differently on different people's skin, which is why some people insist this smells of a lovely pleasant coffee and, while lasting, generally fades okay, and other people insist the maple syrup demons live in their vents to this day. i actually adore followed. i'm pretty sensitive to strong fragrances and i don't love sweet things, so i was really apprehensive, but i ended up really liking it? it IS strong, but i use a very tiny little amount and to me it smells of a pleasantly burnt caramelised maple followed (hehe) by a nice jaunty undertone of espresso. everyone i've asked irl also thought it was very pleasant.

i was wearing followed to work and needed to run to court for boring BAU reasons. i was NOT there for a hearing. this did not happen while phoenix wrighting my way through actual fucking advocacy. just making this extremely clear for my own mental health. anyway i was in court wearing my little perfume having a normal day talking to a court officer about documents or whatever and they stopped dead mid-conversation and went, "do you smell pancakes?"

anyway that's why i don't wear the fragrance anymore. not because it's a nightmare perfume from hell. just because i absolutely cannot repeat the experience of standing inside a fucking courthouse having to politely giggle and fib my way through an interaction with a completely innocent court officer who had no idea the amount of psychic damage they'd just dealt me by asking me so politely with their real human voice if i smelled sweet pancakes while i stood there knowing and dreading the true reality, which was that the pancakes, after all this time, was me

okay do we get that the point of langdon saying robby was talking to cartoon animals isn't that it was mean (people say mean things in fights, and we've seen him be mean all day so it's not ooc), or that he's lashing out and trying to distract from his own issues by shining a light on someone else's to preserve his status quo (normal addict behavior), but that it's an attempt to weaponize robby's completely understandable mental health issues (which do not interfere with his ability to practice medicine or lead a team and actually make him a better attending because his PTSD and experience with the associated emotional triggers make him more sensitive to giving his team breaks when they, too, are overwhelmed/triggered/Goin' Thru It) to delegitimize him before he files a report on langdon? if robby is Crazy, if robby is Unreliable, if Everyone Knows He Can't Hack It, him saying "langdon stole drugs from patients" will be questioned in ways it wouldn't be based on his actual reputation and behavior. furthermore, if he thinks his team doesn't trust him because of his PTSD, that's going to fuck with him as a leader, and we've seen him be a good leader all day in no small part by being attuned to and empathetic with his team. the consequences of that are bigger than just hurting robby's feelings in a fight, and the dramatic ripples have the potential to be fucking huge. that's the point of that scene, of that writing choice. we get that, right?????

So I finally got to binge the final episodes of Cobra Kai and like, god fucking damn. Some of it was cheesy as fuck don't get me wrong but every episode got me welling up.

Seven years, born on a no-chance-of-survival Youtube premium service, who knew exactly how to use its nostalgia, and both the old and new characters evolved so much.

The story's over, but Cobra Kai never dies.

okay am I just dumb or how would they be allowed to change dojos and captains just before the finals??? am I missing something or how is that fair... and don't even get me started on the possibility of literally everyone else leaving Miyagi-Do expect Robby...

also injuring Robby to give Miguel the win (I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it btw I love Miguel) is lazy, boring and done once before already... and if that is what happens I can already see how they're just going to brush off the fact that Robby lost AGAIN and not focus on the disappointment of it all... they're probably going to make Miguel "share" his victory with Robby because he was their captain but it would still be him that's the champion... and they'd try to pass that off as Robby's winning moment and happy ending

also I feel like it was already obvious before the leaks that Tory would be the one fighting in the finals because Zara's fighting and they highlighted their rivalry. But Sam supposedly forfeiting from the fight is stupid imo. If they want Tory to win (which personally I don't mind bc I love both of the girls, though I would've liked to see the original Miyagi-Do students finally win a fucking trophy in this show) why can't they let her win this time by actually winning since the All Valley was rigged.

how is it POSSIBLE that toxic Miguel stans make everything Robby does or gets about Miguel??

and hear me out, I'm not talking about ALL Miguel stans, I'm talking specifically about the ones who glaze him so bad they don't care about other characters' narratives and worship Miguel's as If he wasn't also written to be a flawed character (everyone in the show is, THAT'S LITERALLY THE ENTIRE POINT OF EVERY PLOT).

the reason I'm bringing this up is that I keep seeing ppl posting tik toks like "how tf did Robby get a sponsorship and Miguel, who won the Sekai Taikai, got nothing?". babes, first of all, the Sekai Taikai trophy comes with the title AND A SHIT LOAD OF MONEY (they say so in s5). plus, he literally got into Stanford apparently BEFORE he even competed (so the one thing he was actually competing for was absolutely unnecessary bc he'd already gotten before he even became champion, but whatever, they were doing the "starts with him, ends with him" stuff so it doesn't matter).

Robby's plot the entire season was that he was second place and that he hated the feeling of always being second place in everything his whole life. It was literally crafted for us to believe he had everything to gain and everything to lose If he didn't win the tournament when Miguel himself had Stanford to lose (it's the only thing he talks about when the Sekai Taikai is ever mentioned in s6) but actually, he didn't, because he had already gotten in without the tournament's help. And yet, Robby still lost.

That's okay (I still wanted him to have won but whatever) because I get the message that he had gotten a lot more from karate than a trophy and a title could ever give him, and that he could do differently than Johnny and not let the loss eat him up for the rest of his life. But the thing is, he still lost the whole future the Sekai Taikai could've given him as well. And Miguel won, in the end.

So why is it so unbearable for people that Robby got even a slight of what Miguel did with that sponsorship? Robby getting sponsorships doesn't necessarily mean Miguel didn't, either. AND he likely didn't take up on them since he was off to Okinawa with Sam and then, off to Stanford.

Robby being sponsored doesn't take away Miguel's title, or his fame, or his fortune, or anything of the sort. Stop making things that aren't about Miguel, about him.

The 2020 match came 3 months after Hiromu's return from that injury, just as the 2018 match came 3 months after his return to NJPW from excursion.

honestly this was very fun to watch, both seeing Hiromu face a bunch of different opponents (Lee and Desperado compared to everyone else, Lee and Desperado compared to each other - apparently Lee is talked about as Hiromu's reflection and Despe as his shadow, which I'm in love with, thanks to @thistledropkick for letting me know about it), and also following how he evolves over time.
