"I don't support it in real life!"CW: talk of sexualizing minors, slight rant
Then why write about it? If for coping purposes, why post it online for others (especially actual predators) to see and consume? Then why portray those things in a positive light instead of condemning them? And you're seriously going to tell me that just because as an adult (1) you want to see a fictional minor (that mind you, is usually designed to resemble an actual child) depicted in sexual situations doesn't mean you don't share that same view concerning children in real life? You find fictional minors attractive but not real ones? Why does the line between finding someone who is (and usually also looks like) a child sexually attractive get drawn at whether the child is real or not? I'm not calling anyone pedophiles, but if the shoe fits...(1) No I am not talking about 18 y/os finding 17 y/os attractive. Use your brain. Creating content of underaged characters is still questionable regardless of age, however.
"Just mute/block instead of harassing others!"I have nearly 70k people blocked on twitter, and hundreds of words and tags muted, I softblock and mute people who post things I don't want to see. I still see certain things on my timeline, usually because1) It's posted in the main tags of something I'm interested in2) The post isn't even tagged at all3) If someone quote retweets from someone I've blocked, I still see the take on my timeline.
"Antis use the same rhetoric as exclusionists and TERFS!"What exactly does being against pedophilia have to do with trans (women) exclusionary radical feminism? And what does lgbtq discourse in general have to do with not wanting minors to be sexualized?
"Antis harass people!"Apparently, proshippers have never done this before! Not once has a grown adult stalked literal children for calling their ships gross! Not saying harassments ok at all, but let's not act like the poor proshippers are being oppressed here. Also, I promise you, someone saying "x is a proshipper, please block them if you don't want to see their content" is not harassment. Writing callout posts and videos on underaged "antis", however is most definitely harassment but y'all don't want to hear that. People have the right to know if they are platforming people who go against their personal beliefs and morals. Choosing to hide that from people who would otherwise not want to interact with you for the sake of not wanting to "lose friends" makes you a bad person, and you should feel bad.
replying under the cut bc this ask was long enough, and i don't wanna make ppl who follow us/see this have to scroll for eons
why do you think coping mechanisms have to stay private? if someone's coping mechanism was yoga, or working out, would you say they have to do that by themselves, in the confines of their own house, and they aren't allowed to talk to anyone else about it? i hope not, because that would be ridiculous (inb4 "yeah but yoga isn't harming anyone!", neither is fiction!).
the fact of the matter is, anyone can consume any type of content, and that shouldn't prevent people from making what they like. why not portray it in a positive light? what does it matter? any regular person knows that what they see in fiction should not necessarily be replicated in real life. i know better than to go out and kill someone just because billy loomis and stu macher do it.
furthermore, wouldn't you want actual pedophiles to use fiction rather than them going out and hurting real children? that's not how that works, but using your argument that they're one and the same, wouldn't that be better for everyone, and result in less people getting hurt, ergo fiction doesn't hurt anyone?
no, fictional characters are not meant to resemble actual children. that IS a crime. however, you cannot look at an anime child, or idk, kid ashley from TCOAAL, and tell me that looks like a REAL child. that's nonsense. and no, it does NOT mean i "share the same view concerning children in real life", because those characters aren't real, and i (can't believe i have to say this) am NOT attracted to real children. yes, you ARE calling me a pedophile, which is just categorically not true. it's not "questionable" because it's not REAL, which is necessary for someone to be diagnosed with pedophilia, which is a disorder, and not just some label you can put on people.
genuinely, if you are THAT sensitive to people having other opinions, or are sensitive to different kinds of art, maybe social media isn't the place for you to be. if the post isn't tagged, i agree, something should be done about that, but the fact is, WE DO tag our stuff. that has nothing to do with me (or chica), or even proshippers as a whole. you're doing the thing were you believe one rotten apple spoils the bunch.
when you post something online, you HAVE to understand that literally anyone can view it, and if your accounts aren't private, anyone can interact with it. that is the cost of posting online. if you can't handle that, log off.
i don't think i've ever compared being an anti to being a terf/exclus, BUT they do objectively share some of the same opinions as conservatives, and even nazis (which is NOT to say all antis are conservatives/nazis, but that you share some of the same ideals).
i can't speak much to that because i don't think i've ever made that argument, but it is a lil radfem-y when most of y'all go after specifically BL and yaoi. also terfs aren't only bigoted towards trans women, it's also trans men. idk why you said that.
yes, correct, anyone can harass anyone, but the fact of the matter is, 99% of the time proshippers get harassed, it's while we're in our own lanes, minding our own business, and y'all (much like you're doing right now) come into OUR spaces and call us pedophiles, and say we deserve to die, or that we should kill ourselves.
if you've been following this blog for the last week-ish, you'd have seen some prime examples of just that. doing nothing, talking to no one, and getting harassed. people saying i should be on watchpeopledie, saying i should be killed, that they hope i get cancer, or die in a car accident, or that my dad beats me to death. that i should "slit", cut to the bone, kill myself, hang myself. threatening to doxx me, find my address, have tried to grab my ip. the difference is, when proshippers are found to be doing this stuff, they're called out and reported, often by other proshippers, whereas antis, when they exhibit this behavior, they are encouraged. they're praised by their peers.
if all people did was say "x is a proshipper, block them", we wouldn't have an issue, but the fact is, a significant amount of y'all don't start with blocking. you start with slurs, nasty names, disgusting accusations, and downright deplorable behavior BEFORE you block us. if you block us. and when we block you, it's entirely possible you just create a new account to harass us from, or grab your friends to do it for you.
if platforming people who like different types of fiction than you is that big of a problem, that you feel the need to write callouts, make google docs, harass them, and threaten to doxx them, you need to get off the internet. stop interacting with people AT ALL. live in a bubble. because again, people you don't like are always going to exist on the internet, it's your duty to navigate that in the best way you can, WITHOUT hurting anyone.
people hide the fact they're proship because we don't want the harassment. that's sorta the crux of the issue? you're completely ignoring the COUNTLESS posts of people being harassed for simply existing and being proship. we shouldn't be made to feel bad for trying to protect ourselves and our peace, YOU should be made to feel bad for making others feel bad.
#my brain too small for ts *huff*#hope my ramblings make enough sense to y'all bc i got a headache#proship#proshippers please interact#profic#proship please interact#profiction#anti anti#pro ship#pro fic#🏁🎸

I'm kinda noob at searching for Naruto fanfics... The only thing I ever read was one singular ItachixSakura fanfic at ff.net possibly nearly 10 years ago. I recently searched for Akatsuki-centric fics, but the ship I'm looking for is kinda scarce in AO3... Or is it just the regular numbers, I've no idea. Anyways, since you've been here for long, can you point out where I should start? Maybe the platform distribution was a bit different back then on the good old days? Thanks!
There's about 3–4 times as much Naruto fanfic on FFnet compared to AO3! And AO3, as a rule, pretty much always contains proportionally more M/M fanfic than any of the other archives. So, yeah I would say the experience would be different, probably.
There are obviously exceptions, but if we're discussing general trends about on what platform you find what kind of fics, then:
Generally, AO3 is biased towards plotty romance and M/M pairings.
Generally, FFNet is where you get a lot more of the gen power fantasy/self insert/rationalist type stories, but for most fandoms it also has more M/F.
Generally, Wattpad is dominated by M/F and I understand that it's also where the Reader × [character] fic is most likely to be posted.
The global tumblr tags are where context goes to die. Who knows!
For Naruto specifically, small archives like TONFA still exist.
The easiest way to find something on AO3 that's really popular is to filter on fandom and sort by kudos. This isn't necessarily the best way to find something you personally like.
When I'm looking for fics on AO3, I try to find one fic I think is fun (many tag filters and trial and error, I'm afraid), and then go through the bookmarks and see what other fics have been recommended by the same people who made a bookmark recommendation for the fic I liked.
You haven't really explained what scarce ship you're looking for, so it would be hard to get any specific recommendations, although you can always ask people if they have any specific favourite fics that meet your requirements. More generally you can certainly find fic recommendations on social media. The #naruto fic recs tag on tumblr will show you a bunch of people's lists of recommendations, which might help you find something.

Sending an ask instead of commenting because I prefer to keep discourse away from my blog. but, I have to get some of this off my chest. it's bound to be lengthy, so don't feel like you have to read/respond. you just seem like maybe you'll get my point. Read this as one big I statement because of course it's my opinion and I'm not out here reading everyone's minds.
On that last post. I think a lot of people have gone and manic-pixie-dream-girl'd Eris beyond recognition, and that some of shippers (not all, ofc) have spent so much time with their own headcanons & fanfic that they've forgotten how their real dynamic is. It's easy to project a relationship onto them if you're already looking for one. People see them bicker and go "aw, they're arguing like an old married couple!" when, no. They're just arguing.
Drifter definitely flirts with her, but she doesn't reciprocate and I don't even think that it's necessarily serious. That man would flirt with a wall if he thought it would be funny. He seems like the type to tease people that way regardless of gender or attraction to them.
I don't deny that there's something between them. knowing the lore as I do I think it's safe to say that they're somewhat close, whatever that can even mean for either of them, but for fucks sake close isn't always romantic. Are they friends? Maybe. Can either of them have friends at their level of stability? I genuinely don't know. I don't think that we've been given enough to go off of, honestly. I don't like the idea that they're going to magically have their trauma cured by dating each other. She doesn't need him to "file down her teeth", and I don't think that he would. He definitely seems to benefit from her input, though. I don't feel like their relationship is very balanced in that. There's plenty of lore to back up him getting and using advice from her, and it being helpful to him, but I haven't seen much the other way around. He's immature in a way that she isn't, and people seem to think she's going to settle for that.
I don't care who people ship or what their headcanons are, that's all their own business. If I don't like it, it's not like I'm going off on their blogs in the space they've made themselves about why I don't agree with them. I prefer to just back off a bit, let them have their space and I'll have mine. But I don't always see that respect going both ways, and it starts to really bother me when people try to project their headcanons onto other blogs and onto the developers. Almost anything I see of them independently, it seems someone has to show up with "but where's [the other one]", and I've seen shippers go after multiple people for asking that their fanart of the two isn't tagged as ship art. It's just overstepping at that point.
Of course, I don't like lumping a bunch of people under the single label of drifteris shippers and calling them all a problem, I'm well aware that it's probably a loud minority silent majority type situation and I'm not going to assume someone's like that just because that's their content. But a lot (that I've seen) are.
On the misogyny part, I've definitely seen it in some. I'm a guy, so I'm probably not going to have the world's best explanation of why, but what gets to me is mostly the over-romanticism of Eris as his quirky goth gf. It's dumb and often comes off as objectifying. Sometimes it's like people think she's some edgy egirl twitch streamer. I find it strange how much fanart of her changes her appearance too, given we can barely actually see her. And sometimes it winds up painting Drifter as this douchy dudebro that he just isn't. One of the best things about his character to me is that he has his attitude without the shit treatment of women that comes along with it with most similar characters in games. I don't understand the need to turn around and twist him into someone that pushes her boundaries, which is pretty necessary to read their arguments as flirting.
I don't know what else to say, it's late and I'm tired and I'll probably feel stupid for letting myself get wrapped up in fandom discourse but I might as well say it while the conversation is happening.
(adding in case you do post this) v
No shade to shippers that don't fit the description I've put here. If you're reading this and go "Hey! I don't do that!" then obviously I don't mean you. You're all just doing what makes you happy and, hey, go for it. Tumblr is a great place for that. It's only an issue (imo) when that crosses the line into expecting everyone else to have the same headcanons or ignore what is canon. Go make art and fanfic and whatever you want, there's plenty of people who will appreciate it. I'm glad the positive side of the ship fanbase helps boost both of their stories, I hope it winds up driving Bungie to put more content in of them, together or apart.
Thank you for the thoughtful message Anon. Honestly I cosign all of this and wish I could respond to each of your points, but will at least try to cover a few of the ones that hit most with me.
Replies under the cut, since this is a long one ...
I think a lot of people have gone and manic-pixie-dream-girl’d Eris beyond recognition
I've thought about this for awhile. Eris is frequently written as a Manic Pixie Dream Girl insofar as being the offbeat catalyst for a jaded man's journey to a better version of himself.
He seems like the type to tease people that way regardless of gender or attraction to them.
Whether you ship them or not, it's odd seeing Drifter's canon characterization as a recklessly charismatic flirt lost in fanon. That special significance is placed on his flirtation with Eris, and not with the Guardian, Orin, Efrideet, or Rahool, or the others I'm probably forgetting.
Of course, the Guardian is a blank slate the player can project motives onto, and the others are characters whose interactions with Drifter are limited to lore. His & Eris' interactions stand out. That still doesn't mean it's inherently romantic; I've platonically flirted, held hands, snuggled, danced, bed-shared, and other things fans would dedicate thousands of words of shipfic to were I a fictional character.
Though reading it as such is fine (and I'll concede, probably lines up with the authors' intent, since we know some of them are shippers), nothing in the lore is explicitly romantic. Note, authorial intent, word-of-god and canon are all separate things, as much as fandom conflates them.
An aside, it's interesting how fanon surrounding Drifter paints him as socially anxious, touch starved, romantically awkward ... until he meets Eris. While I understand the utility in shipping — to emphasize the One True Love aspect since serial monogamy, much less polyamory, is unknown to most, especially F/M, shippers — it also comes off as "did not read the lore" at best, and "perpetuating negative stereotypes about Asian men" at worst.
Can either of them have friends at their level of stability? I genuinely don’t know.
This is why Eris' and Drifter's dynamic peaked in Arrivals & Beyond Light. The tenuousness of their alliance, the acceptance and rejection of each other's flaws, the trust between them that wasn't earned but necessary to survive. It was fun, tense and compelling and I wish more of the fandom focused on this era of their relationship.
I don’t like the idea that they’re going to magically have their trauma cured by dating each other.
Cosigned. The idea that love can mend any wound, heal any trauma, or fix any flaw is textbook amatonormativity, and has unfortunate implications when applied to Eris' story. I shouldn't have to detail why "woman overcomes trauma with the affection of a man" leaves a bad taste in my and many other fans' mouths, especially when it's favored over her longer-standing relationships with other characters. Why is her bond with Ikora ignored? Zavala? Asher? Mara? Why is so much of her growth pinned on one man, when there are other, deeper relationships that have existed since practically the beginning of Destiny's narrative? Why is there so little shipping surrounding Eris and these other characters?
Almost anything I see of them independently, it seems someone has to show up with “but where’s [the other one]”, and I’ve seen shippers go after multiple people for asking that their fanart of the two isn’t tagged as ship art.
I don't typically engage with popular Destiny ships, but I draw Mara Sov frequently. By herself, and, frequently, in non-Marasjur pairings. Not once have I gotten a "Where's Sjur?" comment, or even a "Where's Shaxx?" for that matter, as pushy as the "helmet stayed on" bros are. Meanwhile, I expect these comments when posting Eris art, particularly Eris F/F. I've had this happen in art I've drawn of her and Drifter with a disclaimer that the art is platonic/not to tag as ship! At that point it's not misunderstanding, it's entitlement.
I don’t like lumping a bunch of people under the single label of drifteris shippers and calling them all a problem
Agreed. I'm technically an Eris/Drifter shipper in the sense of consuming and producing art & fic for them, though I've pulled back from interacting with that part of the fandom because [waves hands generally]. I have no issues with drifteris as a ship, nor enmity drifteris shippers as a whole, but the individuals who engage in rude behavior.
what gets to me is mostly the over-romanticism of Eris as his quirky goth gf.
I'm going to repost what @/unsaelig said, since it's a salient point:
"I have no actual way of proving this, but given how much it’s been a staple, for the past 9 years, to speak of Eris as an unpleasant, unstable, worrying, suspicious individual, and given how much people like to fixate on how Eris & Drifter’s dynamic “softens” her and makes her more palatable and conventional, I do strongly feel Drifter is probably brought up with her as a “package deal” so often because in their eyes he “defangs” her & makes her much easier to take."
I do think there's a popular fandom read on Drifter as a funny, quirky guy who's a little out-of-pocket, an edgier fandomified-and-flanderized Cayde-6, if you will, and that Eris has to naturally follow by being an inoffensively gothy dommy mommy. It's perplexing, it's objectifying, and it makes me wonder what people are actually shipping them for if they sand down their characterization so much.
I don’t understand the need to turn around and twist him into someone that pushes her boundaries, which is pretty necessary to read their arguments as flirting.
The misogyny - amatonormativity combo again. Before anyone comes for me because I like enemies-to-lovers: sword-fighting your beloved to the death over a pit of lava isn't normalized, but saying that boys who bully girls are "just flirting" is. "I hate my wife", "I wish my husband was dead" and "ol' ball and chain" 'jokes' are. The patriarchy instructs men to disrespect women, and tells women to be flattered by the disrespect of men because at least you're receiving a man's attention. It's neither cute nor funny, and I equally dislike it when empoweringly reversed so that the man is the target of the insult.
No shade to shippers that don't fit the description I've put here. If you're reading this and go "Hey! I don't do that!" then obviously I don't mean you.
Cosigned completely. I know I have reputation as an arch-hater, but I have nothing but respect for people who are shipping them in ways that don't play into tired stereotypes of M/F relationships. (Or misogyny, or racism, or...)
Sometimes I wonder if I should try to put more good Eris/Drifter out there, but most of the time I fear I would only be stemming the tide; I am just one person with limited resources, and there is so much out there that my work will go unnoticed and my time is better spent boosting small ships that need the help.
Mostly I wish there was more focus on Eris and Drifter as individuals, in the game and in the fandom, further exploration of their bonds with other characters, and an environment where a wider range of gen and ship fic/art could flourish.

"azula isn't a lesbian, she had a crush on chan. she's straight"
azula's feelings for chan are easy to interpret as not genuine. she's a 14 year old girl who's still figuring herself out in a homophobic country with a homophobic father. i think a lot of lesbians can say they tried to have relationships with men or tried to flirt with men and it didn't work out. azula has an easier time socializing with women from what we've seen. her interactions with chan vs her interactions with mai and ty lee are very easy to read as comp het. not only that, azula's complicated relationship with femininity very easily reads similar to the experience many queer women have.
there was more romantic tension between ty lee and azula in the beach episode than there was between chan and azula, and that's saying something...
saying the show is from 2005 as justification as to why azula has to be straight is also ridiculous. the producers struggled to get korra and asami together at the end of LoK without losing support from nickolodeon, and they literally just held hands and stared at each other. this was 9 years after atla in 2014. clearly, they've not strayed from making more characters lgbtq since then, and queer relationships are much more visible in children's media today. they could very easily make azula canonically gay now and it would most likely receive very little backlash (asides from the vocal homophobic and lesbophobic side of the fanbase) when they could not have at the time of atla's release.
azula didn't come on and say "i'm straight" or "i only like men". she is not canonically ANY sexuality. her (poorly) hitting on a boy doesn't necessarily mean she likes men. it's not a declaration of her sexuality, especially when she's so young.
you don't have to agree with the headcanon, but don't try to say it doesn't make sense, or that people are "forcing it down your throat" . there's a reason why so many lesbians see themselves in her! coming after people who resonate with this headcanon is unnecessary. no one is SERIOUSLY going after people who put azula in straight ships. people ARE, however, homophobic towards people who say azula is queer, particularly nasty grown men who sexualize her. just going onto the azula tag on tumblr you'll find PLENTY of posts about straight ships with azula that get positive attention.
if you see gay people resonating with a character and think they're forcing their "ideas" onto you, you need to take a look inwards because you definitely have a few things you need to unpack!

Hope it's okay to ask here, I love your blog and how you give clear, concise answers to questions without assuming bad faith so hopefully it's ok to throw my own "warning tag" question in here, TIA for the answer! So, childhood friends-to-lovers is like one of my favourite romance tropes to write in fanfic. I've done a LOT of ships with that, but I've never actually written anything more uh...spicy, shall we say. Until after the ship were both adults. I was raised Extremely Fundie and wasn't very sex positive for a LONG time as a result but now that I'm older & out of that environment I've grown a lot. So because of religious upbringing I just avoided writing smut before both characters were 18 "to be safe". In a recent new fandom I'm in I have a character who I feel like very much WOULD have explored her sexuality before she turned 18. The partner in this context is her childhood friend so they grew up together and are probably at most like 3 years apart, if that. So my question is, would I tag that as Underage because, even tho they're close together in age (ie. both "minors" in that sense) they ARE Underage or is the Underage tag on AO3 solely for Adult/Minor ships? (not judging writers of Adult/Minor pairings either, I'll add. It's just not my scene and I don't want to give people the wrong impression in the tags, either way around, whenever I inevitably write & post their First Time fic, yk?) -🌸 (hope its okay to tag this so I can maybe find it later? I don't wanna ask this off anon in case I get blasted by That(tm) side of fandom at large who might see my username and then come into my DMs/inbox to scream "P*do!!" at me, but I DO wanna be able to see the answer when it comes up, esp if I am not on tumblr the day that it does haha)
--
Ah. You're still thinking about that tag in a more cultural sense, but that's not what it's for. If you dig through the FAQs and such, the explanation is in there somewhere, but to summarize, it refers to:
On page depictions of sexual activity including at least one character under 18.
(So if they just kiss or you just say she had sex but you don't show intercourse, oral, etc. on the actual page, it doesn't count.)
AO3's underage tag is actually to protect users who live in jurisdictions where <18 sexytimes are banned from art or banned unless there's ~artistic merit~ or whatever. Around the time AO3 was starting up was when Australia was having a big upheaval over such things, so it was on people's minds in the Anglosphere.
Whether the sex is problematique or age gap or whatever doesn't matter. The actual age of consent or laws around sex in the real world location these characters are in, if any, does not matter. Your 17-year-old UK characters fucking still need the warning or CNTW even though that's laughable in context. 18 tends to be the age most used in international law for... like... porn star ages and such, so 18 is what AO3 went with. Never mind that it's not necessarily the age of majority or that age of consent laws can depend on partner age, etc. etc.
Unlike noncon/graphic violence/character death, this warning isn't there primarily because readers find the topic squicky.
It's a legal ass-covering thing.

Anon who said ignore and not talk about a Ghostflower is kinda misguided cause Gwen and Ghostflower stans regularly harassing people on different platforms and people's personal tumblrs on top of being racist over a fictional ship has been and continues to be a problem. A couple months after ATSV was released last year, the tags had crazy content but Gwen stans would bully and harass anyone who didn't ship Miles and Gwen or who criticized Gwen's behavior even a little or just didn't like the character causing a bunch of fan artists, writers and people doing deep dives, especially Black creators, to leave or just stop posting and voicing their opinions because the harassment wasn't worth it, so the fact you're getting hate comments despite being nice about things sadly isn't surprising. They're currently on other platforms about Miles/Spiderverse harassing people too, I think they must have a discord or something and put up a bat signal whenever there's any Ghostflower pushback. But Ghostflower is a ship that might be well known but is not necessarily well-liked, people are not obsessing over that shit like that at all. Unfortunately, this doesn't mean that random white writers trying to add to their legacy by fucking up Miles' lore who know nothing about Black women or Black people aren't going to insert Gwen or some other white woman character they can relate to into things though. Like literally every white writer for Miles seemingly can only imagine him (and other Black characters) with someone white/nonblack and they write the most forced shit to make that happen and it feeds into the racism towards Black people in the fandom/comics. Tis sad as fuck.
Good evening and thank you for this ask! For context, this is the post they’re speaking about
And thank you so much for the sympathy, I know that that anon meant no harm but seriously how do you expect me to ignore something that’s not only highly related to something harmful, but is also super freaking prevalent in the fandom???? It makes me so sad. I haven’t been in a whole lot of fandoms, but I am surely no stranger to hearing about Black creators be harassed and driven away from fandoms and it absolutely breaks my heart. To be driven out of something you care about because you’re being attacked for another thing you care about? Not in the same way, but I’ve been in that position in my real life a handful of times, and it really isn’t fucking fair.
Not to toot my own horn, but honestly I do take pride in these posts I make. I hope people see these posts and can feel hope themselves. Like “oh hey! I’m not the only person who dislikes the popular thing! That’s cool :))” cause that’s definitely what I needed for awhile. And I hope that by speaking up about this, we can legitimately drown out and shut down the racist people in this fandom. Maybe I’m being overly optimistic and cheesy and cringe, and if I am I apologize for that, but damn I am sick of fandoms continuously being unsafe places for BIPOC creators.
And the white writers thing is really frustrating too cause like, ahh! As a white writer why can’t we all collectively be better??! And really listen to the people whom we’re trying to write characters about?!?
I don’t know, this post kind of just turned into a thought dump/vent thing but I hope someone gets something out of it. And I hope that I can stop hoping for things to be better and really see them become better.
More of a downer than my usual answer ask posts but thank you bunches nonetheless! Have a restful evening <3

Personal Thoughts on Yona (No Bashing)
I'm gonna be honest, I hate shipping discourse because at the end of the day, characters aren't real and muting tags, posts, accounts are a thing. I also don't want to clog the Sidlink tag with discourse bc it's bad enough on twitter. However, if there's one thing I've learned about myself, it's that when something's bothering me, I need to talk about it, if only to process it. So, apologies but here I go. I will say that I feel like this is a nuanced take, so I guess if you're interested in that feel free to read. Disclaimer before I go in: there will be absolutely no Yona bashing. This post isn't to bash or attack Yona, anyone who enjoys Yona individually or paired with Sidon. I don't necessarily dislike her as a character, I'm more annoyed at the writing surrounding her introduction.
I've been thinking a lot, and I think the reason that Yona's introduction bothers me so much is because it mirrors (more than likely unintentionally) a pretty annoying heteronormative trope. In Jeffrey Brown's book Love, Sex, Gender, and Superheroes (an amazing analytical book in general, would highly recommend) they note that following the publication of Seduction of the Innocent in 1954 - which claimed amongst other things that Batman and Robin were a couple - there was a sort of moral panic about comic books. This was also during the era of McCarthyism, and so to avoid Senate action, the comic industry created the Comics Code Authority, which partly ensured that "illicit relationships" weren't hinted at, and in 1956 Kate Kane as Batwoman was introduced to be a love interest for Batman to reinforce his heterosexuality.
Now, am I comparing Sidlink to the supposed queer subtext of Batman and Robin in 40s and 50s comics? No. Am I saying that Nintendo purposefully introduced Yona for the same purpose as DC did Batwoman? Not necessarily. I just think it's almost comical how similar the situation feels, and the writing doesn't help either. Now, Yona is apparently Sidon's "dear childhood friend" and is also from a different kingdom. That in and of itself feels so awkward because again, we've had Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity AND their respective DLCs, and not once have gotten mention of Yona or her kingdom. Not in a throwaway line from an NPC, not in the murals of Zora's Domain, not in Mipha's diary. (Also, I know that technically, Age of Calamity isn't canon. But it still had input from the Zelda team, and it provides a supposedly canon view of the settlements in Hyrule before the Calamity.) Especially considering the fact that we get confirmation from Sidon's mural and King Dorephan's dialogue that the engagement to Yona is political/arranged, this engagement was not really foreshadowed in any meaningful way other than this sort of heteronormative notion of "He's a prince so he'll have to get married at some point." Like, Sidon had a whole fanclub in BotW, and not one of them knew?? Did the engagement happen in the six/seven years between BotW and ToTK? Again, for a race of long lived beings like the Zora, that feels a bit hard to believe.
This in particular is what makes her introduction so jarring. We've seen all the countless Twitch and YouTube streamers reacting, the TikToks, the tweets and Tumblr posts of people shocked and disappointed. Here's where I point back to the fact that Aonuma and Fujibayashi even addressed the fact that Sidon was so popular during the BotW DLC Dev Talk. That's not to say they were aware of the ship or even cared enough to have taken the action of mitigating any potential queer readings. Other than reactions to the gameplay and the overall story, I don't think Nintendo particularly cares what we do, think, or ship. But they did know that Sidon in particular was a standout popular character, and so it seems so strange to not pair him off in a more well written way.
That's before even mentioning the whole Zora mural where Sidon parallels his relationship with Yona to that of Mipha, literally calling her a sister. There's also no getting around the fact that he uses that phrasing as in Spanish, French, and the original Japanese (those are the languages I read, so that's what I'm referencing) so it's not an English localization quirk. And I know there's the line about his feelings become more "difficult to quantify" but again, why? Why not just say he admired her instead of comparing her to Mipha in that way if they want to show us there was something there even in their childhood? I know it's meant to be sweet and to depict a sort of growth of feelings between them, but it reads strangely.
So we have these aspects and then we compare this to Sidon's interactions with Link this game. (Also before that, I want to acknowledge something: the vast majority of us who ship Sidlink or just enjoyed Sidon's character were never under the illusion that Nintendo would go towards any canonical romance between Sidon and Link.) We arrive to Zora's Domain to find a statue of us riding Sidon from the Vah Ruta battle. There is a whole Hylian bedroom constructed near the area where Sidon and Link fought Vah Ruta (more built out than the bed area Mipha used). The whole "Link Shrine" Sidon has singing his praises. Sidon literally getting down on one knee, taking OUR HAND in both his hands before presenting us the ring (I know that the other champions say the same oath and give us rings, it's the imagery of a proposal that I'm referring to). Link standing equally distant to Sidon as Yona during Sidon's crowning. Yona telling us that when Sidon speaks it's more than likely to talk about Link. Already Yona's introduction so funnily parallels heteronormative tropes, but to actually have so much imagery and subtext for Sidon and Link makes it feel even more crazy? I think this is where people get so hung up on the idea that "Yona was just introduced to get in the way of Sidlink." Honestly, I think the interactions with Link are more probably concessions for fans (not necessarily shippers) because again, the devs know how popular Sidon is. But it compounds with the manner in which Yona is written into the game.
All that being said, I don't necessarily have a neat conclusion to draw from these thoughts, but going back to the Batwoman parallels, I do think it's a shame Yona won't have to chance to canonically develop further the way Batwoman did. After all, despite her original introduction, most people nowadays think Batwoman and think of Kate Kane, the redhead badass lesbian superhero. But that happened over the course of decades in a medium that iterates narratively on the same characters over and over. Even if we get a story DLC for ToTK that has more Yona content, I don't know that it would be enough to smooth over how awkward her introduction was, and it's hard to believe Nintendo would make another direct sequel or carry over Sidon and Yona to the next version of Zelda. But we can already see Yona's iterative growth through fandom!
Now listen. I know myself, and the truth is I'm never going to actively ship Sidon and Yona. But I'm sure there are amazing artists and writers out there who will flesh Yona and her relationship and history with Sidon out (whether that includes Link in a polycule or not). I'm glad that the game has made the interpretation of a lavender marriage between Sidon and Yona who have their respective paramours possible (with the politically arranged aspect of the marriage, Sidon's boisterous actions concerning Link, Yona's acknowledgement of Link's importance to Sidon). I'm looking forward to fics, standalone art and comics that take that route. I'm sure that there will continue to be art and fanfiction that don't acknowledge ToTK or Yona, and I will surely be consuming those as well. I really hope the homophobia and general discourse towards Sidlink subsides, because it's been surprisingly overwhelming on Twitter. I also hope that there aren't people actively attacking posts about Yona. After all, muting and blocking words, tags, and accounts are options across all social media platforms.
This post will definitely be a one off for me, and I don't ever see myself making another post like this again. I honestly might also delete this post in the future now that I've properly written out my thoughts. Anyways, time to get back to drawing practice and working on my fics.

be brave and just say it. it's obvious you're talking about eddie
on that note if i still ship buddie do you want me to stop following you
*screams into the abyss*
Ignore that. I'm fine.
Here's the thing, I love Buddie, I really do. It's such a great ship with so much potential, and it would be really cool if there was another queer character on 911 among all of the ones we already have! It's just the way the really loud shippers have been talking about canon and disregarding the boyfriend that Buck has as if, if it's not Eddie, then the ship isn't valid at all.
I had one of my BuckTommy posts twisted into a Buddie post this morning, and I'm just really frustrated by it. Hence the vague(ish) post on my personal blog without any tags so that I wasn't invading a ship/character fanbase only to piss them off (I literally just needed to yell into the void about it briefly because I can't yell at Kit in public and none of my other mutuals were responding super quickly and I just wanted it out).
But like... yeah, if Eddie was straight in canon, I literally wouldn't have any problem with it. I don't necessarily think it would be a good idea if Buck's awakening (that everyone seems to forget is about Buck) becomes Eddie's awakening, at least not for the story they're trying to tell. And it would almost cheapen the acceptance, to me? That we got in Buck's coming out scene? It's not monumental for queer people to support people, we flock together and form herds and cliques, that's just something that happens regularly. But for Buck to have his straight best friend support him? Without the story about Buck!!! turning into a story about someone else? When it's so monumental that we have a bisexual man on a network show at all? Let alone a main? Isn't that good enough?
If you still ship Buddie, you are more than allowed to continue following me - I still have a lot of Buddie posts in my queue and my likes to queue that will post, and I do really like the ship! I'm just frustrated with the hardcore shippers who want to ignore canon or twist it to meet their needs, you know?
TLDR; ship what you want, post what you want, follow who you want! I'm not trying to stop anyone from doing what they want in their own space, curating their experience however they like. the only thing I'm complaining about is my post getting hijacked as if it wasn't very clearly platonic!Buddie and romantic!BuckTommy.

Re my tags on my last reblog . i saw another post and my opinion changed Again (readmore for . a big ol rant)
I think mouthwashing in general has managed to craft a Very specific situation and a highly nuanced narrative with many angles to consider/ways to analyse it. but I see a lot of range in the reactions to curly and i guess i just wanted to feel out my thoughts.
Ultimately (and i think the game does this on purpose) we just see very little of everyone pre-crash. This both encourages us to judge the characters based on their worst moments (jimmy for . the crash . and curly for letting jimmy off in that crucial conversation just prior) and gives us a lot of room for speculation which muddies the waters. I do also think most curly interpretations hold water (both sympathetic and not), these are just my personal feelings on him.
I wrote my tags about 10mins ago but i changed my mind . i think curly Is a Capital E Enabler, just not a traditional one. He's certainly not your standard dudebro standing by his rapist buddy without caring about the people he hurt at all - the reason i hesitated to call him an enabler is because i think jimmy's verbal abuse when he feels out of control does make the situation more complicated. You don't call an abuse victim an enabler for allowing the abuse to continue, right? But at the same time, curly also wasn't jimmy's constant victim and he Did have power over him on the ship. I think Curly's kind of an emotional centrist -- he really feels that he cares about everyone, but his instinct is to look after everyone equally even in clear cases of asymmetric harm like with anya. Which is interesting!!
I saw another post talking about how discussing what curly could've realistically done isn't the point, and the game's making a point about toxic masculinity in the workplace/society in general - I don't think this is entirely accurate. While the theme of Evil Corporate Overlords does take a backseat to the story of abuse on the ship and capitalism itself isn't a core theme, Pony Express itself has been crafted to allow for the most abusive working environment and the most potential for one bad actor to ruin everyone else's lives, and I don't think this should be overlooked in favour of deciding which Moral Point the game is making. Jimmy had abusive tendencies towards everyone on the ship including curly, and curly just happened to be the kind of captain willing to tolerate it in order to not rock the boat (or dock everyone's pay. or trigger a violent jimmy rampage which he seemed to have been aware that jimmy was capable of).
I genuinely think curly's biggest mistake and Worst Moment isn't necessarily his inaction itself (two days is a very short time to figure out an action plan given the circumstances and company policies) but still being friendly with jimmy and reaching out for genuine connection with him, Especially the last conversation prior to the crash. While he may have felt that need to keep jimmy relatively happy and calm to avoid a violent outburst, both treating him as a friend and equal and agreeing with the sentiment that it would be better to be remembered as a tragedy than be punished at the end of the voyage fully enabled jimmy to crash the ship. To me it feels like not only does curly see jimmy as an old friend, but to crack down on him at all when curly's put in so much work to build him up (get him this new job and out of his implied bad situation on earth) would almost feel like a betrayal. This is why curly puts up with jimmy's abusive tendencies, at least to me.
I do also agree that there's an element of sexism here - no other crew members truly appreciate anya's vulnerable position as the only woman, and while curly finds himself able to put up with jimmy, there does seem to be a lack of recognition by any other character that jimmy's abuse of anya even has the potential to be worse. It's like no one else even considers the risk of added sexual abuse anya could face - they can all put up with him berating them, so anya should be fine too, right?
This is an absolute mess of a post . but basically what I wanted to say was that I think curly's at an interesting intersection of having power over jimmy to rectify the situation while also being vulnerable to his abuse and manipulation. Ultimately curly fails to take responsibility for jimmy (considering he's His friend. and got him the job) when he had the power to do so. While it's very true that the circumstances make it very difficult to decide what to do and this is a key aspect of the situation and story's point as a whole, the fact that no responsibility was taken in any way is curly's biggest mistake.
#mouthwashing analysis#phew! i hope there's a nugget of wisdom anywhere inside that mess#but those are my thoughts - basically just Curly Grey Area#his actions are completely understandable but not treated particularly sympathetically or unsympathetically#it's up to the player to form their own opinion - very fun!!!#god what a good game#mouthwashing

Question pal, have you had any interest watchin' H*zbin H*tel now that its out (just censored in case you wanna avoid having the fans on your tail) & if so, what did you think and if not, I'm curious as to why! Just because I know you've done art for it & stuff before. (Obviously you don't need to explain yourself, I'm just curious. I know that I watched the whole thing because I couldn't suck myself out of it and there are bits and pieces I enjoy in a more solo-context but others I (Christian) take pretty heavily as like....I don't like it. Big parts feel very off, even with the themes on redeming sinful souls and such. So I just wanna see your thoughts on it if possible as another Christian for some perspective.)
ok, so... yes I watched the first 4 episodes. (through Kimcartoon 😏)
possible spoilers below(?)
besides the OBVIOUS blasphemy and biblical inaccuracies, the show does have a lot of issues with writing and pacing. I didn't laugh at ANY joke in those 4 episodes (though Angel calling Vaggie the actual V word almost got me for some stupid reason 🤷♀️)
I don't like some of the VA changes they did, Vaggie sounds bland, Husk's voice doesn't really fit the design of the character IMO, and even tho she isn't a big/important character I DO NOT LIKE THE NEW VOICE THEY GAVE KATIE KILLJOY. I got used to all the other VAs, and kinda prefer the new voice for Alastor over the old. also I would like to congratulate the show for being the first to make canon ships feel like unbelievable cringe fanon ships (the cat and spider, and snake and cherry)
I'll also sometimes scroll through the tag on twitter to see what's going on and what criticisms other people have, like with the whole Angel Poison episode (and which imo when she hires a storyboarder that has a r4p3/n0nc0n f3t1sh to do it, I think that's pretty messed up)
and of course I find out in the episodes I haven't seen they added St Peter and made him a white guy with blond hair, same with making Adam white (I dunno if Adam coulda been darker irl but 🤷♀️) as I said in a post on twitter, it's clear Vivz has some animosity towards Christians/Christianity so she's gonna twist and be inaccurate. (true accuracy wouldn't even allow her show to exist, as Adam's song has some truth in it "Hell IS forever" so there'd be no chance of redemption)
[SPOILER] I've noticed from some posts that they got Pentious to heaven, so I see that it actually IS possible for the sinners to be redeemed.
will I watch the new episodes? when I get around to it. I'd say the show is 90% trash. and even tho I don't necessarily like it, nor Vivz as a person, I still like some of the characters (and their designs) even if I don't agree with their actions. if anyone has a problem with me still drawing characters while '''hatin''' on the show, they can just deal with it tbh 😏
#starryask#starryart#I wouldn't call this show a guilty pleasure. but bc I was interested in the pilot and concept of the story-#-I can't help but to watch to see how it'll all play out.#also I read her Z00ph0bia webcomic and watched her animations long ago so she was kiiinda an 'art inspiration' for me.

intro post
Copper, 19 years old, it/its pronouns (he/him acceptable; no they/them). made this side blog as a contained space for my own Sleep Token art and ramblings and such first and foremost, as well as others' Sleep Token posts i like.
if you want to support me, consider donating or purchasing from the store: https://ko-fi.com/copper_sands
DNI:
the basics (racist/queerphobic/etc), including zionists
unmasking the band members
RPF supporters/creators
if you romanticize/glorify incest, zoophilia, sexual depictions of children, etc. (fictional or not, either way it's block on sight)
if you use, support, or in any way condone any use of generative AI (images, music, text, anything at all)
strictly/mostly NSFW blogs (if it's just occasional NSFW content that's chill)
taglist & more info under the cut:
notes:
DO NOT REPOST MY ART. if you wanna use it for non-commercial means, ask for permission & if allowed, credit me when used. if you wanna use it for commercial means, fuck right off.
my native language isn't english. if i fuck it up i fuck it up.
i do not ship the band members themselves or their stage personas and i find it uncomfortable in general (for myself). i know i listed RPF in my dni but i feel the need to elaborate that for the sake of personal taste, it applies to their stage presence, too.
adding onto the previous point, whenever i talk about the vessels in terms of lore/adjacent, i am talking about them as characters. always. this blog is not for speculating on their private lives, and if you do so, you will be blocked.
i'd prefer not to discuss any of the sexual connotations in the lyrics for my own comfort. i know they exist, i just prefer not to think about them for my own interpretations.
i would appreciate people not leaving NSFW comments on my art, especially the more emotionally heavy stuff, thank you very much! if you really Have to say something, please do it in a separate post or just in a place where i'm unlikely to see it.
even if i might tag my writing as "theories", they aren't necessarily intended as such. if anything, i'm telling a story of my own based on the lyrics. if you try to claim there is one correct interpretation and it's yours, you're getting blocked.
adding onto the previous point (x2), a lot of the time i interpret the lyrics in tandem with my personal life experiences. it will absolutely get a little too real here. if the subject matter is too heavy, it will be tagged with #[subject] and #[subject] tw.
let me know if you want/need me to tag anything specific! either in an ask or in my DMs. don't hesitate to reach out about that :]
in addition to everything, i will be posting about my Sleep Token D&D AU, which is as simple as it sounds and also not at all. it's also very removed from my "main canon" or most of the band IRL, so it's really just me (& @mapleborealis !) fucking around. also, unlike the "main canon", they are a polycule and all kiss with tongue /hj
blog tags (WIP):
organization:
#bygone art - my own art
#bygone talks - my ramblings & the more disconnected bits of writing/theorizing
#bygone writes - the more coherent writing/theorizing
#bygone lore - everything related to my version of the lore of Sleep Token, be it art, writing, or anything else
#bygone silly - my memes
#bygone shows - any post of mine related to a personal Sleep Token ritual experience (pics, rambling, etc)
#bygone footage - images/videos/etc of the band, mine or not (credited as much as possible)
#bygone beloved - posts i particularly like and want to archive, mine or otherwise
#bygone off topic - things vaguely related to sleep token or not related at all
#others' [___] - a post of any variety listed above, just made by someone else
d&d au:
#sleep token dnd and #dnd au - general au tags
#dnd au vessel/ii/iii/iv/etc. - character-specific d&d au posts
little clarifying moments:
#espera - tag for vesselettes (hopefully no maskless posts; won't call them vesselettes either)
#sleep token him - separate tag for whatever Vessel and Sleep were pre-Sundowning. you can glimpse more on that in my posts about it.
#sparrowverse (thank you @fivewholeminutes for the name) - everything related to the lore of a timeline alternate to my main lore in which each vessel of Sleep has to kill the one before them to assume their place. outlined in my fanfic "kill the sparrow". there isn't much to it right now but there might be more trust
#bygone talks#sleep token#sleep token worship#i truly hope i can keep this sideblog going#unlike my other ones#i do have plenty to talk about though so it should be fine for a while lol

Fandoms and Characters
Because it's so relevant in the purview of my current fandom obsession, I wanted to put my thoughts out on fandoms and the characters that people latch onto.
When someone latches onto a character, there's usually a reason for it. Whether it's their physical appearance, their personality, their aesthetic, their voice, their story -- there are so many ways someone might attach to a character. And the creatives of the fandom will, of course, create.
What I don't get, and something that continues to baffle me especially with characters I like, is how someone can claim to be a fan of a character (or characters) and yet strip every single identifying feature of said character in their creative work. What part of the character do you like if you're going to entirely change their personality and their interactions with other characters? Especially in the written word, what is the point of writing a story if the character no longer resembles their namesake?
It becomes even worse in the shipping part of fandoms. People are, of course, allowed to ship the characters they want to ship. I can happily block or mute the tags associate (which, of course, requires the creative to tag things properly). But that doesn't stop me from questioning how someone can like a ship when they completely change both characters and erase every identifying feature they have from the source material. I suppose the superficial idea of two people that someone likes physically and doesn't care about any other trait could explain it, but it just feels like you should be writing OCs at that point. When the character is tagged as coming from a source material yet doesn't look, act, or sound like said character, why bother tagging them at all? And it isn't necessarily a case of characterization preferences -- many characters have clearly defining features that, when removed, make them seem very unlike the character they're tagged as being.
It's particularly relevant now with my current obsession/ship. Anyone that looks at my blog or my AO3 would, of course, know what I'm talking about, but for the sake of keeping this more general I won't post them here. I simply cannot read almost any fic written about my current obsession because the characterization of these characters is so thoroughly botched that if I see them in the tags, I just assume that they aren't the characters that I'm looking for. And I won't sit here and say that my writing keeps them in character any better than others, but I do actively try. I want them to sound like they're supposed to sound, be who they're supposed to be, not some idealized version of them from a source separate from the canon. Even for AUs, I want the characters to still be recognizable. And regardless of opinion, I like to think that I'm successful.
I don't really have anything else to say, it's just something I wanted to get written out somewhere. It can be cathartic to blog about it somewhere that isn't just private, that is open for others to read, even if I'm not really looking for a debate or responses from anyone. At the end of the day, the only person I can control is myself and the content I create. Which I will happily continue to do.

So, I've heard little about BlueSky besides it was the alternative to Twitter when that was being lit on fire. Is it any good? What's it actually like?
To be fair: Is not bad at all! Is nothing spectacular either, but I feel it's a chill social for now. Right now is not super good interaction-like, unless you are like...A bigass artist/account with a BUNCH of followers and stuff...But that isn't necessarily a bad thing, I guess. Pro: - It's relatively calm (consider it's still in beta, but so far I haven't encountered any drama, toxicity and stuff, besides people talking shit about Elon Musk all the time...It's pretty much just artists that abandoned the twitter ship.) - By what I could hear -don't take my word for gold, coz again, it's only what I've HEARD. I don't have any personal experience with that..- they take seriously the reports they receive. - You see exactly what you follow. - No AI is scraping your data. (At least, this is how the legend goes..) - It's kinda like Twitter, without being Twitter. Is like a beta version of twitter mixed with Tumblr, right now. - There's no Elon at the lead. This is important and good. - They are slowly adding more stuff to it and they already changed/added some new things since when I've joined. (And I'm there since maybe one month, I guess...) - They allow to NSFW artists to do their thing as long they mark their content as mature. - I don't think they plan to get rid of the invitation-to-join situation. - Eventually you receive your own invite-codes to invite whoever you like... - You can hide specific stuff you don't wanna see at all since the very begin. - Some "known faces" are on there already... Contro: - It's still in beta. (Therefore, it lacks of some basic(?) features you would find on any other social.) - So far, there's no support for GIFs, animations and videos. (I assume they will fix this, eventually...LOTS of people is asking for it.) - No DMs option either. (Again, lots of people is asking for it, so...Who knows....) - I think there's no tag system? (Personally, I find kinda difficoult to find the content I seek without it, ngl...If you wanna look for specific stuff, you cannot just write it down in a search bar...You have to dig between a bunch of other posts first. I hope they will implement this as well in future..I tend to follow mutuals and friends mostly -and artists I like- but you know...It's a little hard to find new stuff without tags.) - There's no much post interaction unless you already are a bigass(tm) good artist or a big account with a bunch of followers. (Is not REALLY a problem tbh, as I said before...But you know...It's nice to receive some comment under your pics sometimes. lol) - I don't think they plan to get rid of the invitation-to-join thing right now. It's cool, but it's also a lil bit of a hassle. (I myself could join only because a friend of a friend graciously offered me an invite code...). They give you ONE code every 10/14 days, so if you got a group of friends you wanna invite in, you'll need either friends that gives you codes (You know who you are...Thanks again! :) ), or you'll need a lot of time... Besides that, For what I use it for, I think BS is good enough, for now. And (personal opinion) I don't think that so far, BS is "addicting" like other socials are....Which is a mighty good thing if you ask me. In case somebody is on there already and wanna come to say hi, I'm on there as d-structive. :D

Caught up on jjk. opened the jjk tag. saw the first post was a straight x reader post. IMMEDIATELY closed it and opened your blog instead. o7.
I'm so glad to be a safe haven from the hellscape that is tags. I hope you enjoyed your scrolling o7
Nah, x reader shit is a literal fucking inescapable plague and it's so fucking infuriating, I can't lie
Like, I truly have no issue with x reader stuff in general. Like the actual fics and art, of course. I have no interest in it, but other people like making and reading it, so good for them! Like, glad you're having fun
The broad community around it is fucking insufferable though and they make me kinda fucking hate anything associated with x reader stuff in general, to the point that I literally block anyone who posts/reblogs it on sight.
They are so fucking inconsiderate of everyone other than themselves in fandom spaces and ignore so many of the social niceties pretty much all other communities use to make fandom a habitable space for everyone en masse. The way they flood and abuse tagging systems is so fucking infuriating. Like, using the jjk fandom as an example (as its x reader community is one of the worst I've seen in this regard, though kny isn't much better), you shouldn't be fucking tagging your x reader smut shots with every goddamn character in the series. You want to write something of getting dicked down by Gojo? Sure, put it in the general jjk tag as well as Gojo's tag. That's valid and fair. Why tf are you tagging Maki? Or Yuuji? Or literally every other character in the series? Why are you tagging unrelated ships? It's so unnecessary and rude and self centered.
I also hate that the vast majority of them won't tag their stuff with a general x reader tag that's easy to blacklist. If I want to avoid their posts in totality, I'd have to blacklist "gojo x reader" "satoru gojo x reader" "gojo x fem reader" "gojo x gender neutral reader" "gojo x you" etc etc you get the point.... but for every fucking character in the series. Why not just add literally one general "x reader" tag that would mean people like me could easily avoid your stuff and we can both blissfully enjoy our lives? Tagging isn't just for getting exposure, it's for allowing people to avoid your work as well. That's more than half the courtesy of it
But no.... they want to shove their shit into as many people's faces as possible because they think that will get them more exposure, not just piss people off and make tags uninhabitable for literally anyone who isn't interested in it
They also have a tendency to not put their graphic, explicit porn under read mores, which is also just basic decency. Never mind that I then have to scroll through all 4K words of your OOC daddy kink nanami porn, but I had to see it when I didn't consent to it, potentially in public. Thanks for that! Also especially dumb when you put MDNI on it and then... just post it openly without even a single click to keep it off the screen. Great job! Not that MDNI always keeps minors out (obviously) but it's a useless shiny sticker when you then post the porn just out in the fucking open, not even offering one fucking click for people to consent to seeing it
I've also noticed they tend to use uncredited art in their stuff super fucking often? And no "art not mine" doesn't fucking count as credit.
Idk, I just truly have no fucking respect for the x reader community at this point considering their blatant lack of respect and courtesy for literally every other fandom subculture.
Sure, they get some hate for being "cringe" or whatever (which I admit isn't fair. I def don't get the appeal, but I don't think anyone should be getting meanly ridiculed for it, you know?) but I wish they would realize that the fucking disdain they get from the rest of the fandom is for these reasons.... Not necessarily the self shipping or even the blatant mischaracterization for wish fulfillment purposes
Idk, sorry for the rant, but the x reader crowd fucking infuriates me. Like I said, I block them all on sight (probably have upwards of 1-2K blogs blocked at this point because of it), and have blacklisted as many tags for it as I can.... and while how often I see it has definitely gone down and makes tags slightly more bearable... it's still, fucking somehow, like 50 fucking percent of them
But anyways, back to the main point! I'm glad I could curate a jjk tag that is more enjoyable and to your tastes! I know I very much like having one I can scroll through that's art and meta, rather than.... that

20 questions for fic writers!
tagged by @agerefandom (hi! hello!!! thank you for the tag!!!!)
1) How many stories do you have on AO3?
33, on my agere account!
2) What's your total AO3 word count?
59,316. waow
3) What fandoms do you write for?
i have a list in my pinned post! :) though I wouldn't necessarily feel comfortable enough with all of them to post fic to ao3
4) Top 5 fics by kudos?
these little words–they're changing us (Five Nights at Freddy's (Movie 2023), Five Nights at Freddy's) (1,139 words) calm, fledgling. (Star Wars Prequel Trilogy) (2,974 words) can i borrow you for a moment? (Five Nights at Freddy's) (946 words) scared of the dark (i need a nightlight) (Star Wars Prequel Trilogy) (1,019 words) to be cared for (Star Wars Prequel Trilogy) (1,540 words)
5) Do you respond to comments?
every single one, haha
6) What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
mouthfuls of blood. incidentally, its one of my favourites (its pretty dark!) the ending is ambiguous, but, well... it might be agere, but its still abigail hobbs, implied to be going the canon way
7) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
similar to prev, most of my fics are pretty happy, but if we're going by tone shift throughout the fic then I think that has to be my most recent fic, a forecast of sun, after the rain. jon gets a hug!!!
8) Do you get hate on fics?
nope! possibly cause most of my fics are locked to only people with ao3 accounts, and the rest don't allow guest comments
9) Do you write smut?
not here! (or rly at all)
10) Craziest crossover?
um. i don't think I want to specify, since it was on a ff.net that I don't have the login details for anymore and my 12 year old self kind of doxxed himself. so. second craziest would have to be i think. uhh. hm. a persona/tma thing i have in my Google docs that isn't agere
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that I know of!
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
nope
13) Have you co-written a fic before?
kinda yeah. but it's probably never getting posted cause the pov character won't ignore something that he also doesn't want to acknowledge and it's making it difficult to write
14) All-time favourite ship?
might have to be jonelias. but also my secret weird bizarre ship eye4i (no I'm not explaining what that is)
15) What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
oh! my hannibal littles are known au that's Not fluffy at all. it's evil and horrible and the regressors aren't all soft babies. sometimes the babies... Kill People.
16) What are your writing strengths?
i think im pretty solid at getting the like, narrative voice, to not feel too adult? but it's hard to tell, given the autism. uhhh. hmm. im not sure, I'm not great at assessing my own strengths
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
i think I could be better with descriptions, and a lot of my stuff doesn't feel in-character to me
18) Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
unless the point is that the pov character doesn't understand what's being said, don't like it
19) First fandom you wrote in?
very technically.... mcyt, i was writing about stampy cat. first fandom I posted in was splatoon, though
20) Favourite fic you've written?
ohh this one is hard! I have different favourites for different reasons. i like some of my more self-indulgent stuff on a personal level, but on like a technical level.... oof. it is I think not an agere fic, on account of the friends it made me, but unfortunately its too weird for me to want to link it here
oh I. I don't know who to tag. anyone feel comfortable trying to tag on this isn't an age regressor. if you want to do this consider yourself tagged!!!!
